The Destruction Of The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant
The destruction of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in March 2011, caused by an
earthquake and subsequent tsunami, resulted in massive radioactive contamination of the
Japanese mainland. In November 2011, the Japanese Science Ministry reported that long lived
radioactive cesium had contaminated 11,580 square miles of the land surface of Japan.
Approximately 4,500 square miles an area almost the size of Connecticut was found to have
radiation levels that exceeded Japan s allowable exposure rate of 1 mSV (millisievert) per year.
For perspective, 1 mSV is equivalent to 100 milliRem, which is the standard unit of dose used
here at the shipyard. In a normal background radiation field, an individual is exposed to .02
milliRem/hr dose. Studies of the disaster have identified design changes, response actions and other
safety improvements that could have reduced the amount of radioactivity released from the plant.
As a result, nuclear plant safety requirements around the world have been reexamined, including
here in the United States. Figure 1 shows normal operation of a reactor along with the meltdown

and interesting creature beyond compare, which I think shows more about the lawyer as character
than Bartleby. The lawyer saw depth, intrigue, and unsolved despairs in Bartleby before the reader

There were very few characters, a cliche conflict, and not a very fulfilling resolution, but I still
did not dislike it. The narrator is a character who is very average, except for the fact that he has
been banished by his parents to live with his grandparents. Many kids have conflict with their
parents but to be banished seemed like a harsh thing, so during the story I kept asking myself if
that would become relevant. I do not think that it did. The narrator is almost forced by his
grandparents to meet a kid who lives next door named Fred. Fred is also a pretty normal person,
except for the fact that his legs are injured from when his dad threw him down the stairs. These
two characters talk awkwardly before the story ends with them hovering in the air next to Fred s
roof (at least from what I could tell). I took this as a metaphor for trying new things. The narrator

In Lord of the Flies, a group of teenage boys is faced with the tremendous obstacle of being
stranded on an island after their plane had unfortunately crashed. To make matters worse, the
eldest of the group is only twelve years old. They are now faced with the task of establishing
roles for everyone to ensure that their time on the island went a smooth as possible, and that
they were rescued as soon as possible. By establishing roles amongst the group, not everyone
was able to be assigned their desired role, so naturally some of the boys were upset. This story
provided a fairly accurate depiction of how it could possibly be when establishing a civilization
in real life. Fairly shortly after the boy s plane crashed, everyone was assigned roles, and the
voted leader of them all was Ralph. Ralph was really wise beyond his years, especially in
comparison to many of the other boys on the island, and really had his priorities straight. Ralph s
main concern was survival and order amongst the group, along with that came food and most

French government. The film, focusing mostly on the Arabs point of view, portrays an unstable

politics shown are greatly troubling to a modern audience, with women being treated like objects
during the entire revolt. This also ties to the idea of morality within the film, showing that the

more minority parents. Living in a low income community limits one s standard of living through
academic gaps, the selection of food available, an ever present fear of victimization , and a lack
