Analyzing Identity from all Aspects in Nature
This essay is about identity and analyzing identity from all aspects in nature. I have a strong
understanding on identity and how one s identity can be derived from oneself and their
surroundings. I am aware of such altercations because I myself am constantly changing my identity
in order to fit in with different groups. For this reason I support the idea that society alters our
identities and ultimately shapes the people that we are. For this reason my commentary on the
essay will have more support on general ideas then the essay itself because I understand identity
better on my own and without the support from the short stories. I plan to open this essay with a
strong hook and a solid thesis statement that will continue to support my work throughout this
essay. Due to the fact that I am writingthis essay in one sitting and will not be able to add more
ideas later I will unfortunately leave out salient ideas and thoughts that won t occur to me now
but will become more evident as I continue to ponder the idea of identity. As long as I get out my
main ideas and support them with evidence from the text I will have a solid piece of work
completed on identity.
An identity is not permanent neither is it naturally constructed. Certain aspects of one s identity are
unchangeable such as their gender, religion, and family background. Even though a person is born
with a definite gender some choose to change their gender and that is not included in previous
statement. Other aspects

Student Veterans Day Essay
Another Veteran s Day has come and gone, but the number of veteran students on college campuses
across the nation is growing and expected to increase by 20 percent within the next few years

Nursing Timeline
Historical Development of Nursing Timeline Historical Development of Nursing Timeline The
19th century marked the beginning of professional nursing. Florence Nightingale was the legend
behind it as she began the struggle of nurses being recognized as professionals. It is hard to
believe that nurses were once assigned to the job as a sentence for crimes committed or for the
women who were too old or sick to hold conventional jobs. Nightingale s focus included infection
control, documentation, patient safety, confidentiality, and evidence based practice, which seems
common place today, but was very forward thinking for that period. The era of Florence Nightingale
is just the beginning of the timeline of significant events and... Show more content on

However, Barrett (2002) believes knowledge is the focus of nursing science rather on theory or
research. George (2011) explains the relationship between theory, research, and practice
influence each other in a circular way. In other words, research and theory are not based on
hierarchy, but rather, practice is based on theories that are supported through research. To that
end, research and theory are not the only disciplines that have influenced nursing throughout the
ages. Interdisciplinary influences on the science of nursing Many influences affect the science
of nursing, such as philosophy, religion, education, anthropology, social sciences, and
psychology, as we will briefly discuss here. Holt and Clarke (2000) surmise philosophical
method can be useful because it requires careful analysis of words, concepts, arguments and
claims and therefore by definition demands and develops critical thinking. All of these essential
elements of philosophy are used as nursing requires the ability to analyze and evaluate patients
and provide care based on the best existing plan of care. Religion was once deeply rooted in
nursing and was seen as a ministry to Christ. Religious ties may not be so obvious in nursing
today, however, the focus on holistic and spiritual care reminds us the Christian influence has not
been erased completely. Holistic and spiritual care are terms widely used currently and are an
essential part of the nursing

The History Of Syphilis In Early Modern Europe
Early modern Europe was no stranger to maladies and disease. Sickness and pain were not an
uncommon sight amongst all of Europe s social strata. However, the end of the fifteenth century
would see a particularly unpleasant infection. This disease, although referred to by a variety of
names throughout its history, is now known by the term syphilis. Although its exact origins are
not known, the first recorded case of syphilis appeared in 1495 in Naples. The disease likely
found its way to the city through the mercenary soldiers of Charles VIII. Medics and physicians of
the early modern period understood little about syphilis, or as it was often referred to at the time,
morbus gallicum (from Latin meaning French disease), as evidenced by their lack of success in
discovering an effective treatment of the disease. However, the medical works that manifested as a
reaction to the outbreak of syphilis in Europe during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries did
exemplify the growth in the understanding of spread and transfer of disease. Although much of the
rhetoric that explained the existence and acquisition of syphilis as part of a grander punishment of
the infected through the will of God, medical writers in this era successfully found a connection...

Dutch During The World Of Indonesia
Dutch Trading in Indonesia The nation of Indonesia has barely had independence for less than a
hundred years. Before the Japanese captured the country; Indonesia was in the control of the Dutch
for 350 years. Indonesia did not receive its independence till December 1949. Why did the Dutch
decide to settle land in what was commonly known as the Dutch East Indies and how were the lives
of the natives affected? Going back further in history on why the Dutch decided to colonize what is
now modern Indonesia was because they were violently attacked by their neighbor, Germany, for
five years. After having dealt with Germany, the Dutch finally received some reinforcements. With
the help of reinforcements, the Dutch were liberated. After they... Show more content on

This monopoly became the main competitor in the spice trade world. The government s
intention was to bring military pressures on the Portuguese and Spanish (they settled Indonesia
first). The Vereenigde Oost Inndische Compagnie ships were replaced with armed fleets that
intended to attack Portuguese bases. In 1605, VOC ships defeated the Portuguese and were able
to gain some of the Spice Islands. The Dutch trading company was granted shipping lands of
both Melaka and Sunda straights through the ruler of Jakarta in West Java. VOC didn t realize
that the ruler of modern day Jakarta also promised trading rights to the English; the Dutch didn t
like the idea of sharing. By 1619, the VOC s relationships with the English and Jayakartans
deteriorated and the company renamed their headquarters Batavia. Jan Pieterszoon Coen, founder
of the Batavia headquarters, nearly caused the genocide of the indigenous population of the
Banda Islands in Maluku. He developed plans to make Batavia the center of the Asian trade from
Japan to Persia. Coen wanted to develop the spice plantations using Burmese, Madagascan, and
Chinese laborers. His plans did not succeed, he obtained a VOC monopoly on the spice trade.
VOC gained more control in Indonesia, now the company had control over the production of
cloves. The combination of the Bandas from 1609 1621 gave the company

The Development Of Artificial Intelligence In Frankenstein...
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has progressed through today s modern society
and is becoming more prevalent. AI is a manmade program with processes which retrieve
information to adjust the program to better fit the user. Historically, American society s image of
AI has developed using literary works and the film industry in order for most people to get an
exaggerated explanation of AI. For example, in Mary Shelly s Frankenstein, Doctor Victor
Frankenstein creates a monster that becomes increasingly capable of feelings and develops by
learning from others. The novel itself has been interpreted multiple times, yet this monster is still
considered as AI due to the monster learning information to become a more humanlike being.
Mary Shelly s novel is one literary piece that has slowly developed the image of AI in society.
Today, technology is becoming more advanced as independent companies are creating and
developing their new, unique ideas. Automobile companies, such as The Ford Motor Company, are
currently in the process of creating self driving vehicles, implementing AI into cars. These cars are
becoming more developed and advertised within American communities, and the cars are the topic
of debate within the scientific and ethical based philosophical communities. As society continues to
develop AI, humans are becoming more obsolete. When people become more obsolete, they
become unable to contribute to society due to the lack of activity. This is an issue that

Norway and Its Climate Changes
Climate change is a major global issue and is a pressing issue in Norway as well. The country has
ratified the Kyoto Protocol and signed on to other treaties regarding the state of the earth. Similar to
its history, current climate changes may have adverse effects on the culture and economy of
Norway. Two significant climate changeissues in Norway are carbon dioxide (CO 2) emissions and
the warming of the ArcticOcean; both have important impacts on both Norway and the world.
Climate change is not a new phenomenon for Norwegians. Some historians believe that slightly
over two thousand years ago the climate in Norway drastically changed from tropical conditions to
frigid conditions, slightly more extreme than there is today (Larsen ... Show more content on

Some animals that will be affected include reindeer, certain birds, and fox. Aquatic animals will
also be affected by the decline in sea ice and the warming water temperatures. Certain fish will
not be able to tolerate the increased temperature and their population will decrease, which could
be detrimental on the Norwegian fishing industry. A third significant impact the decrease in sea
ice in the Arctic will have on Norway is increasing marine access to oil, gas and other mineral
sources (ACIA 114). As a student of how weather and climate affect society and climate change,
it would seem that an increase in access to oil and mineral sources could have a detrimental effect
on any progress in reducing carbon emissions. If Norway is able to increase its oil production,
then there would be an increase in carbon emissions as well, which is something that the country
has been trying to reduce for over a decade.
The decrease in sea ice and the retreat of glaciers has occurred in Norway before. At the end of
the Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago, hunters and gatherers followed the glaciers as they retreated
north, pursuing migratory reindeer herds, which is similar to what scientists predict the reindeer
will do again in the near future (Lonely Planet). There is a difference between the warming of the
climate ten millennia ago and the warming of the climate today: today scientists have reason to

Similarities Between The Balloon And The Red Balloon

Love and Friendship
Stopping for a few seconds to admire a flower, an insect, a phenomenon of nature, an architecture,
etc., in days full of worries, have become memorable. Also, all these seconds sent me every time
into a wonderful world, just like Confucius said, Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it
. The short films The Balloon directed by Martynas Zaremba and The Red Balloon directed by
Albert Lamorisse have the plot people s reaction for a few seconds at sight of a black balloon.
The Balloon film submits a series of reactions from various people in the city caused by a simple
black balloon with no intended meaning. The balloon starts to appear above the city one night
while people were sleeping. The Red Balloon , too shows an emotional story of friendship
between a boy called Pascal, and his red balloon. The writer and director Lamorisse succeeds
through fiction to combine reality, the wonder, and the magic of this friendship. In both short
films, the main focus is a floating balloon, but I believe that their differences are more striking
than their similarities. Both films The Balloon and The Red Balloon have a similar high point.
In my opinion The Balloon high point is that when the balloon appears on a street where a bad
boy with a knife in his hand is ready to commit an act of violence. The presence of the balloon in
that area stops the bad boy to commit it. Moreover, the bad boy looks his way to sky to admire
the balloon for a few seconds. Likewise, the balloon from Lamorisse s film avoid an act of
violence. For example, a gang of older kids chases Pascal around city, determined to steal and
destroy his balloon. The red balloon performs a miracle, it saves little Pascal from that chase. It
sacrifices itself and lets itself tortured with stones to save Pascal s life. Furthermore, the red
balloon dies for this cause. However, in three distinct ways, The Balloon and The Red Balloon
films are almost opposites. First of all, their score is very different. The Balloon film sound
source is the song with lyrics titled Time to Leave of the band Suicide DJs. The lyrics can provide
depth, powerful to the song, and make the audience to

Tunneling In The Trenches
The first world war was very revolutionary, it was said to be the war to end all wars, mostly in
part because of all the new weapons and techniques to fight. Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the
United States against Germany, Austria Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. The war began
in the summer of 1914 after a Serbian terrorist shot and killed the archduke of Austria Hungary, it
would not end until November of 1918. It was the biggest war of it s and was thought to be the
last war that mankind would go through, and that there would be world peace afterward. Ironically
that was not the case and about 9 million died during combat. This war had the most soldiers
involved, around 70 million men! This had never been heard of because countries... Show more

For this, each side would dig trenches and soldiers would stay in there for months on end. Every
country had their own techniques that they liked and preferred to use. Due to this, battles were
extremely deadly as one never knew what was going to happen that the other side had planned.
One of the deadliest techniques being tunneling. It was a very advanced tactic that could take
months or even years to perfect. The idea behind it was if you were on a battlefield and fighting
against someone, you would dig a tunnel underground from your area to theirs. After the tunnel
was built, explosives were placed in the tunnel and then later blown up to kill the enemy. Along
with weapons, tactics had a big role in World War One. All in all, World War I was a bloody and
revolutionary war that would change the way countries would combat. Even now we still use many
of the same weapons, just more advanced to today s standards. Although this war was truly
detrimental to the economies of many countries it had its benefits. World War I was truly the
turning point for all modern combat technology, and without that need to have created for example
the machine gun, who knows how far behind we would

How Was Life In The North Different From The South
How was Life in the North Different from the South
Regarding the world in the 1800 s, life in the North was very different then life in the South. There
are many areas that prove this statement to be true. Some differences include the geography, the
economy, and society. The North and the South both have some things in common. Other than that,
they are opposites when it comes to everyday life.
One noticeable difference between the North and the South is geography. In section two it states
that the North experiences all four seasons, showing that the climate patterns can vary. According to
section two, the book states that there are different places that have different physical
characteristics. For example, New England has a lot of bays, Boston has many seaports because
they are near water sources, and Pennsylvania has rich soil. The South however, only had one
weather pattern. In section three the book states that the South has long and harsh Summers and
short Winters, which shows that the South really only had two seasons: Summer and Winter.
Obviously, Summer and Winter are polar opposites. Similarly, in section three the book states that
there is a lot of land that is covered in marshes which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two places have opposites economies. In section five the author states that the North developed
machines that had interchangeable parts. This is important because instead of having to change the
whole entire machine, they can just change parts. Also in section five the book states that the
Industrial Revolution changed the work of men to the work of machines. For example, they
developed the cotton gin, which does the work of 50 people. As for the South, they based their
economy on agriculture. In section four the book states that they only owned small plantations.
This is very different from the North because they had huge factories while the South only had small

life go out of control and let it ruin you, or someone can take the hit and keep moving forward. I

Review Of Billie Holiday s Song Strange Fruit
Protest Music Assignment For this assignment, I chose the song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday.
She first performed this song in 1939, several years after the Civil War took place, but before the
end of the Jim Crow South. Billie Holiday was born in the North, which was more supportive of
equality between the races, but she was African American, and this was something that affected her
life, even if she did not live in the South. This song is a protest song, subtle as it may be, against
lynching and the Jim Crow Laws. It describes the lynching, and what can be seen after this deed is
performed. Using imagery and metaphors, she demonstrates the wrongs of the Jim Crow South and
lynching. This song was inducted into the Grammy Hall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the very first line of the song states Southern trees bear strange fruit , referring to the
men being lynched to strange fruit. They are hanging from the tree, and they are strange fruit
because that is not something that a tree produces. This however is a subtle metaphor for this
action. A few lines down, she sings Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze , which is
clearly about lynching. After this, Billie s song goes, Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh. Then
the sudden smell of burning flesh , which shows a contrast between the peace and calm, and then
the abrupt disruption of nature by the white men. She is obviously putting the smell in a negative
light by describing the sweet flowers first, and how the overbearing smell disturbed it. The final
important line is Here is fruit for the crows to pluck , which is referring to the Jim Crow South
and the white men that take part in the lynching. They literally pick out someone that they do not
like just because of the color of their skin and they lynch them. Billie Holiday s song ends with
here is a strange and bitter crop , which still compares African American men to crops that have
been picked (lynched), and after that they are just left there and no one gives another thought about

Bourdieu Marx And Durkheim, Political Economy With...
Bourdieu connects Marx with Durkheim, political economy with cultural studies. He distinguishes
cultural production from other economic manufactory field using the interlocking conceptual
tools of field, habitus and capital. The conceptual categories Bourdieu brought to cultural
analysis have since shaped the study of what I find valuable to my analysis. Bourdieu described
media, art, academic settings, and various areas of intellectual production, as fields that appear to
be autonomous. However, he showed that this autonomy was only apparent and would change
according to the expansion or regulation of capital and that it had its own internal relations which
were economic in nature. Bourdieu integrates the three concepts of field, habitus and cultural
capital into a system analysis on cultural production. He summarizes this relation using the
following equation: [(habitus)(capital)] + field = practice. It means that practice results from
relations between one s dispositions (habitus) and one s position in a field (capital), within the
current state of the social arena (field) (Bourdieu, 1986, p101). Therefore, in order to study the
practices of cultural workers, we need to first know field, habitus, and capital. 1) A field is not a
concrete place, but rather a social spatial arena and a relationship that is always being negotiated.
It is a system of social positions where agents are located. Fields interact with each other, but most
are subordinate to the larger field

data from the Uganda AIDS Indicator Survey. This national survey was divided into a two stage
stratum cluster sampling that involved selecting households for interview (Kibira et al., 2014).
During the interview of each household, blood samples were collected for HIV status, circumcision
status, and interview questions that addressed risky sexual behaviors including: unprotected sex,
numbers of partners, and transactional sex (Kibira et al., 2014).
Based on the result, there s a direct correlation of circumcised males with lower HIV prevalence
among all age groups. HIV prevalence was 35 37% lower in the circumcised men, after
controlling for several variables (Kibira et al., 2014). The study showed risky sexual behaviors are
also important factors affecting the HIV prevalence on both circumcised and uncircumcised men.
The riskiest behavior practice in all men was unprotected sex, followed by multiple sexual partners,
and transactional sex. The practice of risky sexual behavior was found to be significantly higher in
circumcised men than in uncircumcised men. The research showed that although HIV prevalence
has shown to be significantly lower in circumcised

My Experience In Counselling
My first experience with counselling was when I was roughly 17 years old. Back then I was a
part of the people who believed in the myths surrounding counselling, back then it was my last
option but I can still look back and say that I took that decision on my own and I was prepared to
face resistance which I did, in the form of my parents who thought that it was an option for people
who had gone mad . Overcoming these resistances I finally went ahead for counselling and to my
absolute disappointment, the sessionwas useless and at times even offensive to me. The counsellor
asked me my age and started telling a long list of problems I may be facing. She didn t stop there
and then asked me about my weight and any problems that I may be having... Show more content on

The first of which are issues that are personal to me, I realise that there are experiences in my
past that may hinder me as a counsellor the most important of which is my inability to maintain
eye contact with another person which wasn t an issue in the past years but in the counselling
session might convey a very negative impression to the client for they may interpret it as my
disinterest. This issue has prompted me to go to personal therapy and also has increased the
relevance and importance of personal therapy in my eyes. Through this experience I have also
realised how unresolved issues in the past can impact the counselling process with or without you
being aware about them. There are many areas that I need to work on expect this and the major
among them is my competence as a counsellor, I still need to develop various professional skills
that I will be required to employ in the counselling session and that is something I believe I will
gain from my course. The most important thing that believe I need to work on are my own beliefs
about counselling, for a long time I didn t realise that despite being trained for becoming a
counsellor I never realised that even to me counselling seemed appropriate as the last option, a
choice you make when all else fails and also that with time things will eventually get better and
you don t need therapy to work through it. Both of these beliefs seem wrong to be now that I
have gained more objective knowledge of counselling. Firstly, to keep counselling as a last resort
the person is embracing a very likely possibility that things would get worse then on rather than
better and if proper therapy is undertaken at the very beginning of a problem it will improve
things for the individual for definite and may also be more effective and efficient in comparison to
if you let it blow to proportion that may severely

Oryx And Crake Morality And Morality
Is morality relative? While some might believe there are absolute or unchangeable ethical truths, in
Margaret Atwood s novel, Oryx and Crake, moral standards are dependent on the social, historical,
and economical context of the society. Through genetic modifications, deceitful capitalistic
pursuits, and an inflated ego in humans, Atwood creates a society that depends on science and
capitalism for moral guidance. Essentially, through the character of Crake, Atwood illustrates the
dangers that extremist ideology can have on a society that lacks a prevailing ethical code.

he cannot understand the nuances of human nature. When Jimmy and Crake ... Show more content

offender and the fundamental causes of their offence (Justice Education Society, 2016). Following a

subsequent steps that should be taken by the offender to correct the harms caused by their actions

Social Conditions During Ww2
The Eastern Front of World War II was heavily taxing on both soldiers and civilian populations
between 1941 and 1942. Specifically, both Soviet civilians and soldiers found themselves with
dwindling supplies, increased work, and taxing psychological and physical conditions. In
particular, thievery and deceit were commonplace as a means for people to survive in the Soviet
Union. This was a result of mismanagement, corruption, and famine which in turn created an
environment where stealing was a necessity for survival. Furthermore, this breakdown of social
order can then indicate the effects of prolonged conflict upon a society. Conditions within the
Soviet Union at the time provide strong causation and reasoning for increased instances of Soviet
citizens and soldiers stealing supplies from one another. Civilians in particular were faced with
decreasing ration sizes as the majority of supplies were being distributed towards soldiers. A diary

several years in a camp. Later on as well, a man is executed for giving others his ration cards. It
is then thought that such harsh punishment would be a suitable deterrent towards any disruption
of social order, yet there are still instances of thievery primarily of food. This is predictably due
to the sheer desperation of the civilian situation in the Soviet Union at the time. Moreover, it is
entirely reasonable that due to the low amount of rationing and high requirement for work,
civilians were either forced to disregard the law and steal, or face starvation. As a result, the act of
theft became a common means for people in the Soviet Union to physically

Ida B Wells Research Paper
Ida B. Wells is a name that should always be synonymous with African American modern history.
Being born during the Civil War in the South and living her life through Reconstruction, history
would play a huge role with her life. So when given the choice of being a background character or
to take center stage, Wells found her spot light and shone like the morning sun. The South would do
its best to stifle her voice both as child, though she would not know it, and as an adult. Yet Wells
would show the strength and determination of an African Americanwoman and prove that she was
as much a part of the large scale Civil Rights Movement as her male counterparts.
Certain instances in history really help shape who Wells would become. For example, Wells was

While the South would continue to grow in racial violence and inequality, Wells would attend
Shaw University (though the president would later expel her) and become a teacher in
Memphis, Tennessee (a more progressive area of the South, compared to Holly Springs,
Mississippi) Wells would become a major influence in the South after a day in 1883. One
Saturday while riding the train into Woodstock, a conductor removed her from the first class car
she was riding in, that she had paid to ride in, to put her in the smoking car. She refused to be
treated as less than she was and got off the train. She would in turn sue the Chesapeake and Ohio
Railroad Company and win, only to have it overturned. Wells would take this and over the next
few years she would speak out about the racial injustice across the South. After the lynching of
three men in 1892, she would travel the South and learn of lynching stories in other parts of the
South, documenting them as she went. Her writings would end up in African American newspapers
as well as her own, the Free Speech. Regardless of losing her teaching job and threats against her
life, Wells continued her

Beanbag Project Research Paper
Project title
Original? Why?
Was it difficult to solve? Consider access to knowledge, problems to solve, resources needed
What real life problem did it solve?
The Beanbag Project
This experiment is quite original as many people just use bean bags without even thinking about
how many beans are used inside of them. I haven t heard of any other experiments testing the same
thing, so to me I think that this experiment is unique.
This experiment doesn t seem very difficult to solve, as the main thing that you have to do is test
other people s thoughts. The resource which would be needed would be beanbags with different
amount of beans in them, which may have been difficult cost wise.

This means that Sam s experiment is original as it most likely hasn t been done before where
someone has come up with a different conclusion.
This experiment may have been difficult to solve if the person conducting the experiment didn t
either have chickens at their house or have access to someone else s backyard chickens. He would
also have to take into consideration that the experiment might not be a fair test as some of the
chickens may be fed more, making their eggs bigger.
A real life problem is the weight of chicken eggs, and how some are very light and some are quite
heavy in comparison. This could also solve the problem of knowing when chickens will lay eggs
which weigh a different amount. This could also lead someone on to conduct an experiment which
shows the type of food which chickens eat to make their eggs lose less weight. It would mean that
the owners of the chickens could know when to stop eating their eggs and just enjoy them as their
pets, or could label their eggs either light or heavy.

An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley is full of lies and...
J.B. Priestley sets the play in a lavish and happy environment. Without Priestley even telling the
audience that the play is set pre war it is obvious because of all the available luxuries and fineries
such as champagne glasses and dessert plates . The war caused great shortages in goods and food,
which led to rationing. No one in 1945 (when the play was written) would have been able to create
a luxuriant celebratory dinner. This cunning use of setting deliberately reminds the audience of
some of the luxuries lost because of the war.
The play, An Inspector Calls, uses moralistic irony to reflect on achievements made today. He
reveals the weaknesses and wickedness not only in society, but in the individual characters; which I

The 1912 society was a wicked one with evidence of wrong doing, sinfulness, spite, vileness
(wickedness), a society in which there was no equality, democracy, or benefits. Without these
important factors, a society cannot function, and wickedness is decreed in society. Weakness and
wickedness is distributed throughout the play on an individual basis, mostly due to the hypocrisy
and aristocracy of society.
Mr Birling is delineated as a respectable and successful business man, with a wealthy family.
Although by looking beyond the text we can determine that Mr Birling was in fact a selfish,
greedy despot. This is not entirely Mr Birling s fault; it is more to do with the format of society.
Mr Birling was paying Eva twenty two an six (a subsistent amount of money). Eva requested
twenty five shillings . Mr Birling refused to pay and after Eva Smith stood up for what she believed
in, she was sacked.
The fact that Mr Birling acted, and fired Eva shows he was harsh in his actions. Also the fact that
no one found anything wrong with Mr Birling s action, which is an example of wrong doing
defines wickedness/weakness in society.
Sheila Birling s sub sequential actions also encouraged Eva Smith to commit suicide. Sheila was
the one who got Eva Smith fired from Milwards shop. When Sheila was trying on the dress, Eva

Juvenile And Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile delinquency is a social issue in the United States today. Juvenile delinquency, is when a
violation of the law is committed by a juvenile and is not punishable by death or life imprisonment
(Juvenile Delinquency). The juvenile system is different from the adult system in many way and
most juvenile delinquents are from the age of ten to the age of seventeen (Juvenile Delinquent).
Once the delinquent or anyone is at the age of eighteen, they are considered to be an adult.
Therefore, in the justice system they are tried as an adult. There are many different reasons why a
child would commit crime, such as mental and physical factors, peer influence, home conditions,
neighborhood environment and school conditions. Teens are greatly influenced by the interactions
and surroundings they are around. Their behaviors can result from the parent and/or their peer
influences. Parents play a great role in the child s life and a teen s peers also play a strong role in
how the teen behaves when the parents are not insight. This research will examine links between
the social environment of teens and how it influences the teens actions and behavior which leads
them to commit an offense.
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to determine if there is a link between the influences in a
minors life and the delinquent behavior they are committing. Juvenile delinquency is the habitual

Examples Of Amaterasu
Amaterasu represents a mirror, a reflection of oneself. In the famous Japanese myth, a major
deity of Shinto religion is the sun goddess Amaterasu. Shinto is a daily aspect of Japanese life
where it can be described as a belief in a unified and non duality universe, where there is no
separation between man and nature. There is a deep respect for nature and all things in the universe,
which is also all a piece of man. Man is a part of everything in the universe, including inanimate
objects. Amaterasu, the sun goddess is a symbol of self love. There are countless ways you can
follow the divine example of Amaterasu in your daily life.

In the myth, after having enough of her brother s childish ways, she locked herself in a cave for
eternity. This does not mean to hide away forever because eventually, Amaterasu had to leave the
cave as well. The break is more like a boost or a rejuvenation, this time off will help keep you
grounded and relaxed long enough for you to be able to get back to work with more energy.
Like Amaterasu, she forgave herself when she hid in the cave and caused the world to become
dark and empty, for she did not know how much potential she had and happiness she brought
others. This action is something that is uncommon for people to accept. Humans are known for
being hard on themselves, in all angles and direction of their life. People have a hard time
forgiving themselves because the human consciousness has a hard time living in the present
moment, it is almost always focused on the past or in the future. Accepting your mistakes and
how you feel is the key to forgiving yourself because you cannot change the past, and trying to do
so will only cause suffering. Amaterasu s self forgiveness helped realize her immense potential
and impact she had on the world. Self love and forgiveness go hand in hand because forgiveness is

Jumping off of a rocky forty foot cliff is one of those risky accomplishments I can say I
overcame during my months venture. Towards the end of the trip I even went on a 17 mile
kayak trip around the beautiful Napali Coast. Events like this gave me a newfound confidence
in myself and my abilities to go into frightening and unfamiliar situations with an optimistic
outlook on how I will get through them. Not only did this trip give me amazing insight on the
unique characteristics of Hawaii, but it also taught me the skills needed to accommodate and
thrive in a new environment. Time management was one of these necessities required for
maintaining a balance between work and play. Before I went on this trip I was unaware of what
it would be like to have to deal with the daily responsibilities that aren t usually present in a
typical teenage life. Living with complete strangers and no longer having a parent s support can
be a tremendous change in a person s life. Having a sneak peek into that was exceptionally
helpful in making me aware of the future to come. These discoveries will be useful upon my

unbelievable trip to somewhere incredible and completely different from the rest of the world.
Most people do not get a chance to partake in something like this in their lifetime, and I feel very

The Great Achievements Of The Italian Renaissance
One of the great achievements of the Italian Renaissance is the application perspective, which is

Horizontal and Vertical intergration

The Meaning of Vertical and Horizontal Integration
Horizontal integration is where an organisation owns two or more companies, on the same level of
the buying chain. An example of this is the First Choice Group; they own First Choice Travel
Agency and
First Choice Hypermarket, both of which are on the same level of the buying chain. The advantage
of horizontal integration is that it can increase the company s market share. Another good example
of this type of integration is when EasyJet purchased the airline Go from British
Airways. Now EasyJet and Go both operate under the company ... Show more content on

If the travel agent doesn t wish to accept the offer, they may lose a lot of business, as they are not
selling as many products, to cater for the customers needs. Independent travel agents are being
seriously affected by integration, big companies such as First Choice, are controlling the amount of
commission travel agents receive. They are also losing commission as tour operators and airlines
are selling their products and services direct on the Internet. Older customers still prefer to use high
street travel agents as they may not know how to use the Internet or would like the reassurance of
booking in person. Travel agents are having to change to meet the needs of the customer, and are
turning to the niche market to make commission.
Airlines have also been affected by integration, British Airways wanted to merge with American
Airlines, but IATA declined their proposal, as they would be able to dominate the pricing of
transatlantic flights from the UK.
Horizontal and vertical integration has reduced competition within the industry, as more
organisations are buying each other out to expand due to the demand that is being received from
the public for their products and services. Companies that are integrating are able to set the price,
and smaller companies such as Collette Worldwide Holidays, will be unable to compete. The risk

By 1945, nearly everyone in the African American community had heard gospel music (2). At this

Pros And Cons Of Violent Role Playing Game Dilemmas
The VIolent Role Playing Game Dilemma
All of us must have seen the Las Vegas shooting news yesterday. A gunman shot down over 50
people from his hotel room across the street, and injured countless more. When something like
this happens, we can t help but wonder what would make someone do something so awful like
that. I don t know what it is, but I do know the violent role playing games sweeping up our country
s youth is not helping. It is making these kids into aggressive monsters who think killing is fun in
games. Teens should not be allowed to playviolent role playing games because there was a mass
shooting the same week as the Grand Theft Auto V release, it is creating new criminals, and it
makes them more aggressive.
These violent role playing games are games kids should not be allowed to play. The gameGTA V is
an open world game where players rob cars, torture people, and go to strip clubs. In the week of
May 18th 2013, GTA V was released and there was a mass shooting in Washington D.C. that
killed dozens of people, according to Erik Kain. I think there is a definite correlation between
these two events. We are talking about a game that encourages you to shoot and abuse people.
Millions of copies of this game are sold every year. This means millions of people now think its fun
to kill people. They think it s okay to kill. This is not the kind of image we want to be instilling in
teens these days. Now, all the video games are becoming more and more lifelike. Some

Vaccine Exemptions Must Be Protected
Joseph Mercola in his article Vaccine Exemptions Must Be Protected provides data about the nature
of vaccinations as well as current outbreak evidence to support his claim that vaccine exemptions
should be allowed. He argues that the immunity provided by vaccinations is inferior immunity
(Mercola 6) in comparison to naturally acquired immunity antibodies to a disease produced by the
body after contracting a disease. If one ignores the false assumptions about the immune system
Mercola s argument appears sound because of all the statistics of failing vaccinations. However,
Mercola relies on hasty generalization, the fallacy of reaching a hasty conclusion without evaluating
all the evidence, to conclude that vaccines are failing.
Mercola assumes that natural immunity is 100% effective and will not fail as vaccine acquired
immunity is. Because vaccines are not 100% effective, Mercola argues that people should be
exempt from mandatory vaccinations. The implication being that submitting to a vaccine that will
fail in the future is putting oneself at unnecessary risk. Mercola s argument can be reconstructed as
follows...
1.If vaccines are not 100% effective, then people should be exempt from mandatory vaccinations.
2.Vaccines are not 100% effective.
Therefore, people should be exempt from mandatory vaccinations. Premise 2 depends on Mercola
s use of the fallacy of hasty generalization. He relies on three specific outbreaks (2010 California

35.3 billion U.S. dollars in revenue by 2019. Among studios, Buena Vista accomplished the most
in 2016 it held the biggest piece of pie, around 26 percent, and produced the highest box office
revenue, more than 3 billion U.S. dollars. Warner Bros. represented closely 17 percent of the entire
box office revenue in North America, and 20th Century Fox held around 13 percent of the whole
market share. Conversely, there are some issues in the motion ... Show more content on

Be that as it may, truly, the dropping of this suit as a result of this dismissal motion is not an
appropriate response to Star Trek fans. But on the other hand, there are the insanely strict rules Star
Trek fans must follow if they want to make a fan film. There are many rules, and after this lawsuit,
these rules increased in number and became more and more strict.
III.Copyright Law and Trials in Japanese Motion Picture Industry
Associates of anime s frequently obsessive international fan base often translate and to put

sales and prospective revenue from box office releases. The film productions have replied by
bringing forward overseas release dates for all capacity screens.
Now, so many Japanese films are illegally uploaded on the Internet and a lot of piracy DVDs are
available. For instance, Toho Co., Ltd. which is the Japanese motion picture production and
distribution company released Your Name (Kimi no Na wa) in Japan on August 26, 2016. The

Literary Devices In The 27th Psalm
As correlated with the 23rd Psalm, David also showed his good and difficult experience when he
wrote the 27th Psalm. Through this Psalm, David has presented a number of literary devices;
such as use of questions, metaphor, imagery and symbolism. Verse one starts The LORD is my
light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I
be afraid? Here, David put forward two similar questions which relates to the statements presented
before them. He asked whom shall I fear? and Whom shall I be afraid? David emphasizes those
questions because with God on his side, he s fearless and courageous; he s afraid of nothing and no
one. The Lord is his light and salvation. Light and salvation are used as a metaphor for God. Here,
David says the Lord is light and He is salvation which means He guides and provides deliverance.
God will guide you with His word and he will answer all your tribulations. God also adds joy to
people s lives. The LORD is the stronghold of my life, He provides with a source of strength to
overcome... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Psalm 27 is a longer prayer than Psalm 23. Also, David made use of questions in
Psalm 27 and not in Psalm 23. Another difference is, in Psalm 23 David declares the good of
God and his plea for salvation from his enemies. However, in Psalm 27, David not only points
out the good of God but, also the abundance of blessings that he provides. In Psalm 27, David
mentioned another metaphor, where he compared his enemies to wild beasts. Furthermore,
another literary device that is present in Psalm 23 is symbolism. You prepare a table before me
(Psalm 23:5). The term table not only refers to banquet of food but also hope, grace, patience,
etc. Moreover, in Psalm 27, David felt neglected. Finally, in Psalm 27, David spoke of God being
more faithful than his earthly parents, to be obedient to God s word and to wait on the

violent adventures of traveling the American west during the early 1800 s. The story starts off
with the kid running away from his abusive alcoholic father. The kid is 14 years old at the time
and decides to go to Memphis. During the kid journey, he meets and befriends a man named
Toadvine. Both characters travel together until they met a man simply known as the Judge. The
Judge is a man that enjoys killing and causing violence everywhere he goes. The kid and Toadvine
eventually join a scalp hunting gangthat the Judge is part of. The gang travels all throughout
Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada killing and collecting the scalps of Native Americans.
Everywhere the gang travels they bring death and destruction with them. The gang kills anyone
that does not serve any value to them including their own members. Out of everyone in the gang
the kid is the only one with a moral conscious and has a hard time killing anyone unless it s in self
defense. The gang eventually met their end when they were attacked by Yuma Native Americans in
a sneak attack. After the attack, the kid, the Judge, Toadvine and 2 other members were the only
survivors left. Fearing the Judge, a member of the gang encourages the kid to killthe Judge when he

Threats to the Integrity of South Africa s Democracy Essay
Through a fair electoral system, the South African government has elected and been led by the
African National Congress (ANC) over the past twenty years. Yet, with the limitations on rights,
they have not been able to identify with all of the main circumstances that make up a democratic
government. A democratic political system must meet three essential conditions: meaningful and
extensive competition among individuals and organized groups (especially political parties) for
the major positions of government; a highly inclusive level of political participation in the
selection of leaders and policies, at least through regular and fair elections,...and a level of civil and
political liberties freedom of expression, freedom of press,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

[However], first, even if, say, one has freedom of power across three of the four dimensions of
freedom discussed, one s lack of power in only one is sufficient to make one unfree (Hamilton,
2011, p. 356). Hamilton s words echo Mandela s stating that by one s lack of freedom makes the
other unfree as well. This presents a problem for South Africa as they continue to move forward
with democracy. Allowing the ANC to pass bills such as the Protection of State Information bill
permits them to impede on freedoms and control more than is necessary. It also lets them cover up
any wrongdoings that may be done by the party. This, the Protection of State Information Bill, sets
up an access to state information that is unalike what was envisioned in the country s constitution.
It creates activity that is meant for the public illegal, furthermore, criminalizing many things that
have the public s interest in mind (Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, 2013). Also, the bill has
many inaccuracies and typos. This kind of work gives the government a bad appearance and
makes them come off as uncaring. Many of the bills actual positive pieces have been watered down
through the long process and tampering that it has gone through by Parliament (Nelson Mandela
Centre of Memory, 2013). Bills like this and other regulations on media also

Boxer Rebellion Causes
Explain causes of the Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion occurred as a result of both foreign and domestic internal tensions. These
tensions were the causes of the Boxer Rebellion. China faced terrible natural disasters in 1899 and
these was the main short term on the Boxer Rebellion. These included the flooding of the Yellow
river then followed by the terrible drought. This lead to crops being destroyed and to farmers
unable to pay their taxes which damaged the economy and millions of Chinese people faced
starvation. These disasters were blamed on the Westerners and fuelled anti foreign feelings and the
Chinese believed the famine was a punishment from the gods because they were abandoning their
traditional ways and changing to European ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Chinese believed that the foreigners were trying to change the traditional Chinese way of life
and also gong against Confucian teachings which the Chinese followed very closely. As stated in
Source B a trouble had been brewing in China for years . The source also mentions that this is due to
foreign exploitation by various countries had continued to escalate to a point that the outright
partitioning of China into international zones seemed very likely and this led to a violent
movement among the Chinese to rid their country of foreign influence. The main long term cause
was the economic hardship China faced in the decades building up to the Boxer Rebellion. These
economic hardships included poverty, unemployment and high taxes. anti Christianity and weak
government. In the hundred years building up to the Boxer Rebellion China s government was
gradually becoming weaker and the economy was dropping. These two long term factors eventually
led to the Boxer Rebellion.
2. Assess the significance of the Boxer Rebellion for China to 1911
The Boxer rebellion had a massive impact on the Chinese culture, economy and even
geographically. These effects were both positive and negative for the near and far future of China.
The most significant short term impact it made on Chinese society was the Boxer Protocol China
were forced to sign. The major long term impact it had being that

A Hope In The Unseen Character Analysis
Most times you hear of parents telling their kids to try to be the best they can be. It s not often
you hear kids talk about their parents telling them to be just enough. What is the best advice for
parents to give to their kids? To shoot for the stars or to shoot low? I believe that parents should
tell their kids to try to reach for their dreams, no matter how impossible they seem.
In A Hope in the Unseen, Phillip s father advises his kids to set attainable goals so they can have
some security. The advice that Phillip s father gives him and his siblings does have it strengths. As
his father says, it does allow for some security in knowing their future. It also doesn t set up for
possible disappointment if their goals are not met.
Though the shoot low strategy has it s strengths, there are weaknesses to it. For starters, it limits
kids in what they re able to do in their future. It also doesn t give kids a chance to be the best they
can be. Just because some goals seem way out there, and may be extremely difficult to reach, ...

Cedric was given nearly the same deck of cards as Phillip. The only difference was Cedric s will to
succeed and Cedric s mother making sure that he knew he could do it. If Phillip s father did what
Cedric s mother did, maybe Phillip would have done the same as Cedric. Maybe he would have
tried in school, gone to college, and could have reached his full potential.
Although I strongly believe that parents should tell their kids to shoot for the starts and try their
best, whether or not parents decide to tell their kids to shoot low is their choice. In the case, parents
are like pet keepers and their kids are like birds. So as a parent, they can either be the wind

Polar Express Psychology
Innocence, trust, truth, and calmness are all different feelings that one might have or encounter
in their life. Most of these feelings are felt as a child and as a parent more often. Blue is
conservative and calming in a positive aspect. But blue can also relate to sadness, lonely, cold, or
depressing, in a more negative way. You feel these things when you feel betrayed, lied to, or the
loss of a loved one. Blue can stimulate so many feelings depending on a situation. The Polar

The blue seen in the movie suggests the truth of hero boy s thoughts, and confusion.
Archetypally, blue is contemplated as reserved and quiet, and doesn t like to make a fuss or
draw attention (Color Psychology Web). The film embodies these exact feelings in hero boy. He
is reserved and quite and doesn t draw attention to himself on the train and tries to stay low during
the trip. However, the most significant reference to blue throughout the film is his blue robe,
which represents the reserved person he is because of his beliefs. The train is also exemplifies the
truth that he can only decide for him self what he truly wants to believe in.
Thomas begins with truth and ends the poem with love , there is the silly level of tension simply
the reason in the side of truth, that all will resolve into a unjudging truth which weakens the idea
of truth itself. Truth is not essentially not false . Just like in The Polar Express, it is not a film
that convinces young children to believe in the big man it paints a bigger a picture, to believe in

Reasons For Britain To Leave The EU
Reason for Britain to leave the EU POLITICAL and FINANACIAL
The UK have been a part of the EU since 1973. Since the accession of the country in 1973, Europe
has completely changed its nature. For years, Euro sceptics have been campaigning for a
referendum on the membership on the UK in the EU.
The British has officially voted to move away from the EU. The market is in crisis after the
revelation that the united kingdom is a broken nation.
On June 23, 2016, in a referendum organized by former Prime Minister David Cameron, 51.9% of
the British chose to leave the EU (Wheeler, 5 September 2017) .Following the triggering of Article
50 of the Treaty on European Union on 29 March 2017, the United Kingdom and the other 27

However, the Brexit will not materialize immediately since Article 50 of the Treaty of the Union
provides for a two year period (renewable) between the withdrawal request and its effectiveness.
Thus, for at least 2 years, the United Kingdom will continue to be a member of the EU (and
contribute € 4,930 million to its annual budget!). In this period, the modalities of the exit of the
British Kingdom will have to be negotiated between European leaders. Then the trade agreements
will be renegotiated, which could take up to 10 years warned the British government. Thus, the
economic consequences of a Brexit on the British economy will depend on the outcome of these
negotiations. Some studies, however, have sought to measure the long term consequences for the
British economy. Overall, they conclude that there are rather negative impacts on trade, GDP
growth or per capita income (économiques, Créé le 30 juin 2016).
The end of the financial passport
For the financial players, the Brexit is a real challenge. Indeed, the City, the world s largest stock
exchange, interacts mainly with the European Union, which accounts for 41% of exports of
financial services, compared with 26% for the United States, 2% for China and Hong Kong. This
represented ВЈ 19.4 billion in 2013; an amount which, according to Capital Economics, could be

Essay on There is More to Vikings than Violence
History typically describes the Vikings as the fiercest, most brutal of all the barbarian groups that
invaded Europe. Historians agree that the Vikings were fierce, but was there more to them than that.
The word Viking has been used to identify people who lived in Sweden, Norway and Denmarkin
early medieval times. In the language Old Norse, Viking means pirate. Sometimes they were
known as Northmen or Danes. The Vikings shared a similar heritage as the Saxons, a group of
people who had previously invaded Britain.
The Vikings sailed to other foreign countries because they weren t able to do many profitable
things in their own homes. The soil was infertile, and the land was rocky and covered in ice and
snow for most of the year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odin was the ?All father? of all the gods and was extremely wise. He exchanged one of his eyes for
wisdom. Other gods and goddesses included Loki (the trickster god), Freyja (goddess of love and
beauty) and Frey (god of fertility and Freyja?s brother).
England, Scotland and Wales were Christian countries, and when the Vikings resettled there, many
of them converted to Christianity. However, some remained faithful to their old religion at the
same time. This shows that the Vikings weren?t just killing machines that spent all their time
murdering people and raiding villages. They didn?t just think of war all the time and they actually
spent time worshipping gods like we still do today.
In addition, we can see that their culture was important, even down to the clothes they wore. Like
most people during that time, the Vikings mostly used wool to make their clothes. They had to
dress warmly because their home was very cold. They dyed the cloth with mineral and vegetable
dyes of red, green, yellow, brown and blue.
Viking men would wear a long woollen shirt and long cloth pants held up by a drawstring or
sash. On top of this was worn a sleeved jerkin or a three quarter coat with a belt. On their feet they
would wear socks and soft leather shoes or long leather boots. In battle, the Vikings would wear an
iron helmet and chain mail to protect themselves.
A Viking woman would wear a long linen dress. It could be either plain or pleated. Over the dress a

The Romantic Era to Present
Humanities: The Romantic Era to Present
Less than Men Are men and women equal? Women were and still are the most stereotypical
human beings. Women s have been viewed from the view point of being the most beautiful
creation, to being fragile, weak and pretty much useless. Women were said to belong at homes.
They were to become housewives, to become nurses, people takers, and only good for house
works. They were looked down upon. As François Poullain stated, Let every Man be asked his
Thoughts of Women and that he would surely confess his Mind; he will tell you without doubt,
That they were not made but for Man; That they are fit for nothing, but to Nurse; and Breed little
Children in their Low Age; and to mind the House. Women were viewed as simply nothing, no
good for anything. Women were basically treated and looked at as being less than a man. They
were treated so much more different than any man. There was an unfair share of equal rights.
They were not able to vote, to participate in politics, or to even have a real job. Many employers
believed that women were not qualified because women lacked the capability to manage some
work. Also many women and girls were not permitted to attend school, since they were forced to
become housewives and that was the only thing they were to be good at. Women belong at their
house and not anywhere else. How ridiculous does that sound? Simone Lucie Ernestine Marie

Fast Food Public Relation Blunders
Introduction
Fast Food can be defined as quickly made food that is sold in restaurants as a quick meal or to be
taken out. The first fast food restaurants came around the 1920 s and have since then, blown up
to be its own part of American Culture. Chances are, if you live in the United States there is a
fast food restaurant within a mile of your house. As the century progressed these fast food
restaurants expanded to countless countries across the world becoming a big part of peoples
everyday lives. Since there are countless fast food franchises selling generally the same products,
the market is extremely competitive. Fast Food franchises participate in aggressive marketing
and are always trying to stay in the good graces of the public eye. One slip up and chances are
they are going to lose a vast amount of business. As much as they try though there is no possible
way they would be able to anticipate some of the public relations blunders that occur especially in
an age where there are eyes everywhere in the form of cameras and social media. One of the
biggest public relations disasters in recent memory involved the fast food pizza delivery franchise
Domino s and another more recently involving Starbucks.

  • 2. Analyzing Identity from all Aspects in Nature This essay is about identity and analyzing identity from all aspects in nature. I have a strong understanding on identity and how one s identity can be derived from oneself and their surroundings. I am aware of such altercations because I myself am constantly changing my identity in order to fit in with different groups. For this reason I support the idea that society alters our identities and ultimately shapes the people that we are. For this reason my commentary on the essay will have more support on general ideas then the essay itself because I understand identity better on my own and without the support from the short stories. I plan to open this essay with a strong hook and a solid thesis statement that will continue to support my work throughout this essay. Due to the fact that I am writingthis essay in one sitting and will not be able to add more ideas later I will unfortunately leave out salient ideas and thoughts that won t occur to me now but will become more evident as I continue to ponder the idea of identity. As long as I get out my main ideas and support them with evidence from the text I will have a solid piece of work completed on identity. An identity is not permanent neither is it naturally constructed. Certain aspects of one s identity are unchangeable such as their gender, religion, and family background. Even though a person is born with a definite gender some choose to change their gender and that is not included in previous statement. Other aspects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Student Veterans Day Essay Another Veteran s Day has come and gone, but the number of veteran students on college campuses across the nation is growing and expected to increase by 20 percent within the next few years according to data from the Veterans Affairs campus tool kit. Colorado State University Pueblo has approximately 300 student veterans currently enrolled pursuing degrees said Dana Rocha, Interim Director of Veterans Affairs on campus. Returning from a life in the military to life as a civilian trying to complete college is vastly different and can be challenging transition for many. • 4. Nursing Timeline Historical Development of Nursing Timeline Historical Development of Nursing Timeline The 19th century marked the beginning of professional nursing. Florence Nightingale was the legend behind it as she began the struggle of nurses being recognized as professionals. It is hard to believe that nurses were once assigned to the job as a sentence for crimes committed or for the women who were too old or sick to hold conventional jobs. Nightingale s focus included infection control, documentation, patient safety, confidentiality, and evidence based practice, which seems common place today, but was very forward thinking for that period. The era of Florence Nightingale is just the beginning of the timeline of significant events and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Barrett (2002) believes knowledge is the focus of nursing science rather on theory or research. George (2011) explains the relationship between theory, research, and practice influence each other in a circular way. In other words, research and theory are not based on hierarchy, but rather, practice is based on theories that are supported through research. To that end, research and theory are not the only disciplines that have influenced nursing throughout the ages. Interdisciplinary influences on the science of nursing Many influences affect the science of nursing, such as philosophy, religion, education, anthropology, social sciences, and psychology, as we will briefly discuss here. Holt and Clarke (2000) surmise philosophical method can be useful because it requires careful analysis of words, concepts, arguments and claims and therefore by definition demands and develops critical thinking. All of these essential elements of philosophy are used as nursing requires the ability to analyze and evaluate patients and provide care based on the best existing plan of care. Religion was once deeply rooted in nursing and was seen as a ministry to Christ. Religious ties may not be so obvious in nursing today, however, the focus on holistic and spiritual care reminds us the Christian influence has not been erased completely. Holistic and spiritual care are terms widely used currently and are an essential part of the nursing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The History Of Syphilis In Early Modern Europe Early modern Europe was no stranger to maladies and disease. Sickness and pain were not an uncommon sight amongst all of Europe s social strata. However, the end of the fifteenth century would see a particularly unpleasant infection. This disease, although referred to by a variety of names throughout its history, is now known by the term syphilis. Although its exact origins are not known, the first recorded case of syphilis appeared in 1495 in Naples. The disease likely found its way to the city through the mercenary soldiers of Charles VIII. Medics and physicians of the early modern period understood little about syphilis, or as it was often referred to at the time, morbus gallicum (from Latin meaning French disease), as evidenced by their lack of success in discovering an effective treatment of the disease. However, the medical works that manifested as a reaction to the outbreak of syphilis in Europe during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries did exemplify the growth in the understanding of spread and transfer of disease. Although much of the rhetoric that explained the existence and acquisition of syphilis as part of a grander punishment of the infected through the will of God, medical writers in this era successfully found a connection... • 6. Dutch During The World Of Indonesia Dutch Trading in Indonesia The nation of Indonesia has barely had independence for less than a hundred years. Before the Japanese captured the country; Indonesia was in the control of the Dutch for 350 years. Indonesia did not receive its independence till December 1949. Why did the Dutch decide to settle land in what was commonly known as the Dutch East Indies and how were the lives of the natives affected? Going back further in history on why the Dutch decided to colonize what is now modern Indonesia was because they were violently attacked by their neighbor, Germany, for five years. After having dealt with Germany, the Dutch finally received some reinforcements. With the help of reinforcements, the Dutch were liberated. After they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This monopoly became the main competitor in the spice trade world. The government s intention was to bring military pressures on the Portuguese and Spanish (they settled Indonesia first). The Vereenigde Oost Inndische Compagnie ships were replaced with armed fleets that intended to attack Portuguese bases. In 1605, VOC ships defeated the Portuguese and were able to gain some of the Spice Islands. The Dutch trading company was granted shipping lands of both Melaka and Sunda straights through the ruler of Jakarta in West Java. VOC didn t realize that the ruler of modern day Jakarta also promised trading rights to the English; the Dutch didn t like the idea of sharing. By 1619, the VOC s relationships with the English and Jayakartans deteriorated and the company renamed their headquarters Batavia. Jan Pieterszoon Coen, founder of the Batavia headquarters, nearly caused the genocide of the indigenous population of the Banda Islands in Maluku. He developed plans to make Batavia the center of the Asian trade from Japan to Persia. Coen wanted to develop the spice plantations using Burmese, Madagascan, and Chinese laborers. His plans did not succeed, he obtained a VOC monopoly on the spice trade. VOC gained more control in Indonesia, now the company had control over the production of cloves. • 7. The Development Of Artificial Intelligence In Frankenstein... The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has progressed through today s modern society and is becoming more prevalent. AI is a manmade program with processes which retrieve information to adjust the program to better fit the user. Historically, American society s image of AI has developed using literary works and the film industry in order for most people to get an exaggerated explanation of AI. For example, in Mary Shelly s Frankenstein, Doctor Victor Frankenstein creates a monster that becomes increasingly capable of feelings and develops by learning from others. The novel itself has been interpreted multiple times, yet this monster is still considered as AI due to the monster learning information to become a more humanlike being. Mary Shelly s novel is one literary piece that has slowly developed the image of AI in society. Today, technology is becoming more advanced as independent companies are creating and developing their new, unique ideas. Automobile companies, such as The Ford Motor Company, are currently in the process of creating self driving vehicles, implementing AI into cars. These cars are becoming more developed and advertised within American communities, and the cars are the topic of debate within the scientific and ethical based philosophical communities. As society continues to develop AI, humans are becoming more obsolete. When people become more obsolete, they become unable to contribute to society due to the lack of activity. This is an issue that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Norway and Its Climate Changes Climate change is a major global issue and is a pressing issue in Norway as well. The country has ratified the Kyoto Protocol and signed on to other treaties regarding the state of the earth. Similar to its history, current climate changes may have adverse effects on the culture and economy of Norway. Two significant climate changeissues in Norway are carbon dioxide (CO 2) emissions and the warming of the ArcticOcean; both have important impacts on both Norway and the world. Climate change is not a new phenomenon for Norwegians. Some historians believe that slightly over two thousand years ago the climate in Norway drastically changed from tropical conditions to frigid conditions, slightly more extreme than there is today (Larsen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some animals that will be affected include reindeer, certain birds, and fox. Aquatic animals will also be affected by the decline in sea ice and the warming water temperatures. Certain fish will not be able to tolerate the increased temperature and their population will decrease, which could be detrimental on the Norwegian fishing industry. A third significant impact the decrease in sea ice in the Arctic will have on Norway is increasing marine access to oil, gas and other mineral sources (ACIA 114). As a student of how weather and climate affect society and climate change, it would seem that an increase in access to oil and mineral sources could have a detrimental effect on any progress in reducing carbon emissions. If Norway is able to increase its oil production, then there would be an increase in carbon emissions as well, which is something that the country has been trying to reduce for over a decade. The decrease in sea ice and the retreat of glaciers has occurred in Norway before. At the end of the Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago, hunters and gatherers followed the glaciers as they retreated north, pursuing migratory reindeer herds, which is similar to what scientists predict the reindeer will do again in the near future (Lonely Planet). There is a difference between the warming of the climate ten millennia ago and the warming of the climate today: today scientists have reason to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Similarities Between The Balloon And The Red Balloon GEORGETA HARPAD ESL 101 JOBST Love and Friendship Stopping for a few seconds to admire a flower, an insect, a phenomenon of nature, an architecture, etc., in days full of worries, have become memorable. Also, all these seconds sent me every time into a wonderful world, just like Confucius said, Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it . The short films The Balloon directed by Martynas Zaremba and The Red Balloon directed by Albert Lamorisse have the plot people s reaction for a few seconds at sight of a black balloon. The Balloon film submits a series of reactions from various people in the city caused by a simple black balloon with no intended meaning. The balloon starts to appear above the city one night while people were sleeping. The Red Balloon , too shows an emotional story of friendship between a boy called Pascal, and his red balloon. The writer and director Lamorisse succeeds through fiction to combine reality, the wonder, and the magic of this friendship. In both short films, the main focus is a floating balloon, but I believe that their differences are more striking than their similarities. Both films The Balloon and The Red Balloon have a similar high point. In my opinion The Balloon high point is that when the balloon appears on a street where a bad boy with a knife in his hand is ready to commit an act of violence. The presence of the balloon in that area stops the bad boy to commit it. Moreover, the bad boy looks his way to sky to admire the balloon for a few seconds. Likewise, the balloon from Lamorisse s film avoid an act of violence. For example, a gang of older kids chases Pascal around city, determined to steal and destroy his balloon. The red balloon performs a miracle, it saves little Pascal from that chase. It sacrifices itself and lets itself tortured with stones to save Pascal s life. Furthermore, the red balloon dies for this cause. However, in three distinct ways, The Balloon and The Red Balloon films are almost opposites. First of all, their score is very different. Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States against Germany, Austria Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. The war began in the summer of 1914 after a Serbian terrorist shot and killed the archduke of Austria Hungary, it would not end until November of 1918. It was the biggest war of it s and was thought to be the last war that mankind would go through, and that there would be world peace afterward. Ironically that was not the case and about 9 million died during combat. This war had the most soldiers involved, around 70 million men! This had never been heard of because countries... Every country had their own techniques that they liked and preferred to use. Due to this, battles were extremely deadly as one never knew what was going to happen that the other side had planned. One of the deadliest techniques being tunneling. It was a very advanced tactic that could take months or even years to perfect. The idea behind it was if you were on a battlefield and fighting against someone, you would dig a tunnel underground from your area to theirs. After the tunnel was built, explosives were placed in the tunnel and then later blown up to kill the enemy. Along with weapons, tactics had a big role in World War One. All in all, World War I was a bloody and revolutionary war that would change the way countries would combat. Even now we still use many of the same weapons, just more advanced to today s standards. Although this war was truly detrimental to the economies of many countries it had its benefits. How Was Life In The North Different From The South How was Life in the North Different from the South Regarding the world in the 1800 s, life in the North was very different then life in the South. There are many areas that prove this statement to be true. Some differences include the geography, the economy, and society. The North and the South both have some things in common. Other than that, they are opposites when it comes to everyday life. One noticeable difference between the North and the South is geography. In section two it states that the North experiences all four seasons, showing that the climate patterns can vary. According to section two, the book states that there are different places that have different physical characteristics. For example, New England has a lot of bays, Boston has many seaports because they are near water sources, and Pennsylvania has rich soil. The South however, only had one weather pattern. In section three the book states that the South has long and harsh Summers and short Winters, which shows that the South really only had two seasons: Summer and Winter. It doesn t who you are; rich, poor, tall, short, thin, fat, muscular, etc., life will always find a way to kick you in the teeth, beating you down until you just wanna tap out and then some. But there there are two types of people in this world that reacts to this, one is to give up and let life go out of control and let it ruin you, or someone can take the hit and keep moving forward. • 13. Review Of Billie Holiday s Song Strange Fruit Protest Music Assignment For this assignment, I chose the song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday. She first performed this song in 1939, several years after the Civil War took place, but before the end of the Jim Crow South. Billie Holiday was born in the North, which was more supportive of equality between the races, but she was African American, and this was something that affected her life, even if she did not live in the South. This song is a protest song, subtle as it may be, against lynching and the Jim Crow Laws. It describes the lynching, and what can be seen after this deed is performed. Using imagery and metaphors, she demonstrates the wrongs of the Jim Crow South and lynching. This song was inducted into the Grammy Hall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the very first line of the song states Southern trees bear strange fruit , referring to the men being lynched to strange fruit. They are hanging from the tree, and they are strange fruit because that is not something that a tree produces. This however is a subtle metaphor for this action. A few lines down, she sings Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze , which is clearly about lynching. After this, Billie s song goes, Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh. Then the sudden smell of burning flesh , which shows a contrast between the peace and calm, and then the abrupt disruption of nature by the white men. She is obviously putting the smell in a negative light by describing the sweet flowers first, and how the overbearing smell disturbed it. The final important line is Here is fruit for the crows to pluck , which is referring to the Jim Crow South and the white men that take part in the lynching. They literally pick out someone that they do not like just because of the color of their skin and they lynch them. Billie Holiday s song ends with here is a strange and bitter crop , which still compares African American men to crops that have been picked (lynched), and after that they are just left there and no one gives another thought about ... • 14. Bourdieu Marx And Durkheim, Political Economy With... Bourdieu connects Marx with Durkheim, political economy with cultural studies. He distinguishes cultural production from other economic manufactory field using the interlocking conceptual tools of field, habitus and capital. The conceptual categories Bourdieu brought to cultural analysis have since shaped the study of what I find valuable to my analysis. Bourdieu described media, art, academic settings, and various areas of intellectual production, as fields that appear to be autonomous. However, he showed that this autonomy was only apparent and would change according to the expansion or regulation of capital and that it had its own internal relations which were economic in nature. Bourdieu integrates the three concepts of field, habitus and cultural capital into a system analysis on cultural production. He summarizes this relation using the following equation: [(habitus)(capital)] + field = practice. It means that practice results from relations between one s dispositions (habitus) and one s position in a field (capital), within the current state of the social arena (field) (Bourdieu, 1986, p101). Therefore, in order to study the practices of cultural workers, we need to first know field, habitus, and capital. 1) A field is not a concrete place, but rather a social spatial arena and a relationship that is always being negotiated. It is a system of social positions where agents are located. Fields interact with each other, but most are subordinate to the larger field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Back then I was a part of the people who believed in the myths surrounding counselling, back then it was my last option but I can still look back and say that I took that decision on my own and I was prepared to face resistance which I did, in the form of my parents who thought that it was an option for people who had gone mad . Overcoming these resistances I finally went ahead for counselling and to my absolute disappointment, the sessionwas useless and at times even offensive to me. The counsellor asked me my age and started telling a long list of problems I may be facing. She didn t stop there and then asked me about my weight and any problems that I may be having... This issue has prompted me to go to personal therapy and also has increased the relevance and importance of personal therapy in my eyes. Through this experience I have also realised how unresolved issues in the past can impact the counselling process with or without you being aware about them. There are many areas that I need to work on expect this and the major among them is my competence as a counsellor, I still need to develop various professional skills that I will be required to employ in the counselling session and that is something I believe I will gain from my course. The most important thing that believe I need to work on are my own beliefs about counselling, for a long time I didn t realise that despite being trained for becoming a counsellor I never realised that even to me counselling seemed appropriate as the last option, a choice you make when all else fails and also that with time things will eventually get better and you don t need therapy to work through it. Both of these beliefs seem wrong to be now that I have gained more objective knowledge of counselling. Firstly, to keep counselling as a last resort the person is embracing a very likely possibility that things would get worse then on rather than better and if proper therapy is undertaken at the very beginning of a problem it will improve things for the individual for definite and may also be more effective and efficient in comparison to if you let it blow to proportion that may severely ... While some might believe there are absolute or unchangeable ethical truths, in Margaret Atwood s novel, Oryx and Crake, moral standards are dependent on the social, historical, and economical context of the society. Through genetic modifications, deceitful capitalistic pursuits, and an inflated ego in humans, Atwood creates a society that depends on science and capitalism for moral guidance. Essentially, through the character of Crake, Atwood illustrates the dangers that extremist ideology can have on a society that lacks a prevailing ethical code. • 19. Social Conditions During Ww2 The Eastern Front of World War II was heavily taxing on both soldiers and civilian populations between 1941 and 1942. Specifically, both Soviet civilians and soldiers found themselves with dwindling supplies, increased work, and taxing psychological and physical conditions. In particular, thievery and deceit were commonplace as a means for people to survive in the Soviet Union. This was a result of mismanagement, corruption, and famine which in turn created an environment where stealing was a necessity for survival. Furthermore, this breakdown of social order can then indicate the effects of prolonged conflict upon a society. Conditions within the Soviet Union at the time provide strong causation and reasoning for increased instances of Soviet citizens and soldiers stealing supplies from one another. This is predictably due to the sheer desperation of the civilian situation in the Soviet Union at the time. If the travel agent doesn t wish to accept the offer, they may lose a lot of business, as they are not selling as many products, to cater for the customers needs. Independent travel agents are being seriously affected by integration, big companies such as First Choice, are controlling the amount of commission travel agents receive. They are also losing commission as tour operators and airlines are selling their products and services direct on the Internet. Older customers still prefer to use high street travel agents as they may not know how to use the Internet or would like the reassurance of booking in person. Travel agents are having to change to meet the needs of the customer, and are turning to the niche market to make commission. Airlines have also been affected by integration, British Airways wanted to merge with American Airlines, but IATA declined their proposal, as they would be able to dominate the pricing of transatlantic flights from the UK. Horizontal and vertical integration has reduced competition within the industry, as more organisations are buying each other out to expand due to the demand that is being received from the public for their products and services. Companies that are integrating are able to set the price, and smaller companies such as Collette Worldwide Holidays, will be unable to compete. The risk that larger ... Vaccine Exemptions Must Be Protected Joseph Mercola in his article Vaccine Exemptions Must Be Protected provides data about the nature of vaccinations as well as current outbreak evidence to support his claim that vaccine exemptions should be allowed. He argues that the immunity provided by vaccinations is inferior immunity (Mercola 6) in comparison to naturally acquired immunity antibodies to a disease produced by the body after contracting a disease. If one ignores the false assumptions about the immune system Mercola s argument appears sound because of all the statistics of failing vaccinations. However, Mercola relies on hasty generalization, the fallacy of reaching a hasty conclusion without evaluating all the evidence, to conclude that vaccines are failing. Mercola assumes that natural immunity is 100% effective and will not fail as vaccine acquired immunity is. Because vaccines are not 100% effective, Mercola argues that people should be exempt from mandatory vaccinations. The implication being that submitting to a vaccine that will fail in the future is putting oneself at unnecessary risk. Mercola s argument can be reconstructed as follows... 1.If vaccines are not 100% effective, then people should be exempt from mandatory vaccinations. 2.Vaccines are not 100% effective. • 48. Essay on There is More to Vikings than Violence History typically describes the Vikings as the fiercest, most brutal of all the barbarian groups that invaded Europe. Historians agree that the Vikings were fierce, but was there more to them than that. The word Viking has been used to identify people who lived in Sweden, Norway and Denmarkin early medieval times. In the language Old Norse, Viking means pirate. Sometimes they were known as Northmen or Danes. The Vikings shared a similar heritage as the Saxons, a group of people who had previously invaded Britain. The Vikings sailed to other foreign countries because they weren t able to do many profitable things in their own homes. The soil was infertile, and the land was rocky and covered in ice and snow for most of the year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Odin was the ?All father? of all the gods and was extremely wise. He exchanged one of his eyes for wisdom. Other gods and goddesses included Loki (the trickster god), Freyja (goddess of love and beauty) and Frey (god of fertility and Freyja?s brother). England, Scotland and Wales were Christian countries, and when the Vikings resettled there, many of them converted to Christianity. However, some remained faithful to their old religion at the same time. This shows that the Vikings weren?t just killing machines that spent all their time murdering people and raiding villages. They didn?t just think of war all the time and they actually spent time worshipping gods like we still do today. In addition, we can see that their culture was important, even down to the clothes they wore. Like most people during that time, the Vikings mostly used wool to make their clothes. They had to dress warmly because their home was very cold. They dyed the cloth with mineral and vegetable dyes of red, green, yellow, brown and blue. Viking men would wear a long woollen shirt and long cloth pants held up by a drawstring or sash. On top of this was worn a sleeved jerkin or a three quarter coat with a belt. On their feet they would wear socks and soft leather shoes or long leather boots. In battle, the Vikings would wear an iron helmet and chain mail to protect themselves. A Viking woman would wear a long linen dress. It could be either plain or pleated. Over the dress a long woolen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Romantic Era to Present Humanities: The Romantic Era to Present Less than Men Are men and women equal? Women were and still are the most stereotypical human beings. Women s have been viewed from the view point of being the most beautiful creation, to being fragile, weak and pretty much useless. Women were said to belong at homes. They were to become housewives, to become nurses, people takers, and only good for house works. They were looked down upon. As FranГ§ois Poullain stated, Let every Man be asked his Thoughts of Women and that he would surely confess his Mind; he will tell you without doubt, That they were not made but for Man; That they are fit for nothing, but to Nurse; and Breed little Children in their Low Age; and to mind the House. Women were viewed as simply nothing, no good for anything. Women were basically treated and looked at as being less than a man. They were treated so much more different than any man. There was an unfair share of equal rights. They were not able to vote, to participate in politics, or to even have a real job. Many employers believed that women were not qualified because women lacked the capability to manage some work. Also many women and girls were not permitted to attend school, since they were forced to become housewives and that was the only thing they were to be good at. Women belong at their house and not anywhere else. How ridiculous does that sound? Simone Lucie Ernestine Marie Bertrand de Beauvoir, or better known as Simone de Beauvoir, ...
