The main advantage of this is that large amount of capital can be raised very quickly. One
disadvantage is that the original shareholders can lose domination of a business if large quantities of
shares are purchased as part of a takeover. It is also costly to have shares quoted on the stock
exchange. Another disadvantage would be the financial disclosure where Yum! Brands Inc. has to
publish a report of their financial information for the public to read also involving their competitors.
Key stakeholder A stakeholder is anyone an interest in a business; stakeholders are individuals, groups

Analysis Of Mary Maloney In Lamb To The Slaughter
Is it possible for a loving wife that is six months pregnant to love her husband with all her heart, but
then moments later is found to be the wife that murders her husband? Well, Mary Maloney, a caring,
loving women is the wife of detective Patrick, an alcoholic man that comes home from work only to
see his wife that he no longer loves. One day, when Patrick is not sober, he attempts to deliver some
upsetting news to Mary about a divorce. Sadly, she does not believe it and carries on with her life, but
after having to believe it, Mary takes revenge on Patrick by taking his life from him. Mary Maloney is
extremely intelligent and is a very deceiving female character in the short story called, Lamb To The
Slaughter. Throughout this story, her character traits do not just portray how she is an effective
murderer, but a strong actress as well.
Firstly, by using her intelligence, she kills her husband without leaving a trace, showing that she is a
sufficient murderer. For example, Mary kills her husband when she, ...[swings] the big frozen leg of
lamb high in the air and {brings} it down as hard as she could on the back of his head (Dahl 4).
Obviously, knowing that the police is going to appear and search for the murder weapon, Mary kills
her husband with a frozen piece of lamb because she can cook it later. When Mary kills her husband
with an edible item, she acknowledges that it can later serve as a delicious meal. By Mary choosing a
murder weapon that can disappear by

The Common Misconception Of The Scientific Community
The common misconception in the scientific community is that there is only one way to get things into
space a combustion powered rocket. However, recently there have been talks and designs floating
around about other methods to travel to space. Currently the technology and tools existing regarding
space are seen as revolutionary and ahead of our time. However the possibility for even more
advanced and efficient technology is within the grasp of humanity. We first launched a rocket to get to
the moon in 1969, and since then the design for space rockets has varied slightly. The use of space
shuttles was first introduced in 1981, and since then almost no changes have been made for space
travel. In our world if you are not progressing, you are falling behind. We have been using dangerous
and unreliable rockets for 47 years now. The recent explosion that occurred for the company SpaceX
has highlighted our case and point. The current way to get into space is not only unreliable and
dangerous, but it is also highly inefficient and expensive. The main focus in recent years is launching
things into geostationary orbits, or orbits that stay in the same spot relative to the Earth. The cost to
launch a rocket into a geostationary orbit is currently around 20,000 dollars per kilogram, which is an
outrageous amount of money (http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/176625 60000 miles up
geostationary space elevator could be built by 2035 says new study). Furthermore the rockets

Obama Pros And Cons Government Shutdown
The word on the hill is that if Republicans don t cave and fund Obama s DHS amnesty scheme that
they will be blamed by the people and pay for it at the polls. Where have we heard that before? Back
in 2013 the government was partially shutdown for 16 days over funding fight that centered around
Obamacare. Republicans eventually folded and Barry got his boondoggle fully funded. The argument
at the time was that Republicans would be blamed for the shutdown and 2014 would be a disaster,
even to the point of Democrats retaking control of the House. Of course, we know what happened. A
historic ass kicking by the Repubs not only increased their numbers in the House, but gave them the
Senate. Fast forward to 2015 where a DHS bill that includes Obama s ... Show more content on

Now we get this, and it is Republicans blaming themselves with an eloquence that the Democrats
could never muster. Barack Obama has broken every law and presidential protocol he could get his

in Congress, they see themselves as hamstrung by the Democrats and admonish themselves for their
self imposed impotence. Yes, there are those holding firm, like the Ted Cruz of the Senate, but those

History Of Toyota Motor Co.
The history of Toyota goes back to 1937 when Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. was established in Japan. The
company had been doing well and wanted to expand their operations into other countries. On October
31, 1957 Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. was formed. They established their headquarters in
Hollywood, California and began selling vehicles in 1958. In the first year, Toyota sold 287 Toyopet
Crown sedans and one Land Cruiser. Within the first 10 years of business the company began to
develop a reputation in the United States for having high quality vehicles that were also reliable. By
1966, they had sold more than 20,000 vehicles and by 1967, Toyota became the third best selling

In 1996, Toyota engineers discovered an issue with the Hilux Surf, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that
was sold in England. Toyota sold this same SUV in the United States, but it was called the 4Runner.
The engineers were concerned because with a combination of heavy loading and severe steering
maneuvers, the SUVs could lose directional stability. This resulted in the possible consequence of
drivers losing control of the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. Toyota did make a design
change to correct the steering mechanism, but instead of issuing a recall on the existing Hilux Surfs
and 4Runners that were already on the road, Toyota simply installed the design change on the new
models. Eight years later, there was an accident that involved an out of control Hilux Surf that
prompted a police investigation. The Japanese government heavily criticized Toyota and ordered them
to overhaul its recall system. Since 2007, Toyota has received major criticism regarding the safety and
quality of their vehicles. The company has faced many issues in a short period of time. Following is a
brief timeline that highlights the major events that took place: 2007 March 2007 Toyota receives
reports about an accelerator pedal glitch in its Tundra model. September 26, 2007 Toyota recalls
Lexus models to secure floor mats that could trap the gas pedal, causing the car to accelerate out of
control. 2009

Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption
Corruption of justice in the prison system is relevant in Stephen Kings, novella, Rita Hayworth and
Shawshank Redemption. The Cause of this corruption was the greed of the administrators, and the
lasting effects it had on the prisoners mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Many of the prisoners were affected mentally by the administration of Shawshank; the key players
included Warden Samuel Norton. Norton embodies the contradictory corruption of Shawshank. He
justifies his manipulation in the name of faith, and the bible. The people who run this place are stupid,
brutal monsters for the most part. The people who run the straight world are brutal and monstrous, but

How Did Patterson Became An American
Frederick Douglass Patterson was born on October 10, 1901, in Washington, D.C. He was the
youngest of five children and was named after abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Both of Patterson s
parents died of tuberculosis when he was still a toddler, and at just 2 years old, he was sent to live with
his aunt Julia Dorsey. When Patterson was 7, his older sister Wilhelmina Bessie became his legal
guardian.
Patterson went to primary school and high school programs at Sam Houston College and Prairie View
College in Texas. During the summers, he took odd jobs to earn money. One of these was as a driver
for a wealthy family. Although Frederick had never driven before applying for the position, he got the
job and taught himself to drive. He also taught himself how to play tennis, which became a lifelong
hobby. Patterson says he became interested in school when he had to ... Show more content on

Essay about Ecstasy
Ecstasy is Methylene Dioxymethamphetamine, often abbreviated as MDMA. This drug is a member
of the same family of drugs that include amphetamine and LSD. I once believed that ecstasy was a
mixture of methamphetamine and LSD, but as I researched, I found out that it has its own chemical
structure. Ecstasy is not a mixture of other drugs; it is something all its own.
Ecstasy alone makes people biased towards ecstasy without even doing the research necessary to
judge it. There are some 500,000 regular users of the drug Ecstasy in the United Kingdom alone.

In 1985 a small group of people sued the DEA to try and prevent them from doing so. This small
group of people failed due to an incident that had happened the year before. China White, a drug sold
to heroin addicts as a legal substitute, contained a poisonous impurity that caused a form of severe
brain damage. This caused the US Congress to pass a law allowing the DEA to place an emergency
ban on any drug that it felt might cause any danger to the public. MDMA was one of the drugs banned
on July 1, 1985. (Saunders p.8) The temporary ban lasted for one year only. There was a hearing set
up to decide what the final word would be on Ecstasy. At the end of the case, the Judge recommended
MDMA to be placed in a category that was not as restrictive. The DEA would not back down from
their decision, and ignored the recommendation given by the judge. By placing MDMA in a less
restrictive category it would have allowed the drug to be manufactured and to be used for research.
In 1986 a non profit organization called The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies,
also known as MAPS, opened A Master File for MDMA. This complied with the prerequisite for the
licensing of any new drug. By doing this it allowed MAPS to conduct research on MDMA. The FDA
has approved human volunteers to be used for the research into the effects of MDMA. The hearings
began in 1993. (Saunders p.9)
Today Ecstasy is still

This piece of drama conveyed the dramatic meaning (moral), The effect is of a background of
magnificence cheapened by commercialism. (O Neil, 1922). Generalised, masked wealthy characters
contributed to the dramatic meaning and symbolically emphasised their unawareness and carelessness
for the disadvantaged. Techniques which were present in this activity were manipulated, personalised
and incorporated into Addiction. In Addiction, Scene 8, masks were utilised to strip Darcy s family of

place them in a prominent business platform over their competitors.
The proficiency and efficacy of the cyberspace in its application in accounting, finance, system

simple; no organization can survive without the adoption and implementation of the mechanism of
information technology to their area of business. On the contrary perspective, there are several
challenges that are associated with the cyberspace, among which is majorly cyber security. Recently
the hackers activity has really skyrocketed and has become a major concern for organizations, states
and federal governments and even international organizations. Several regulatory schemes are put in
place to mitigate the activities of hackers across the globe.

Persuasive Essay On Nationalism
Kate, Guo
Mr. Berdahl
Social 20 2
Oct. 28th, 2017.
It is a truism to say that nationalism plays a significant role in life. Yet, it is not an easy concept to
define directly. Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau depicted that a Canadian not by a skin color or
a language or a background, but by a shared set of values, aspirations, hopes and dreams. Meanwhile,
Adolf Hitler protested against that nationalism was based upon bloodlines and race , and therefore he
carried out racial purity , which repressed the Jewish. On the specific issue of whether to embrace
nationalism or not, I am full of the opinion that we should adopt nationalism, but not to be radical.
Nation and identity are always related. Canadians firmly believed that the victory of the Vimy Ridge
battle in April, 1917 formed the nation, as it was the first time that all four Canadians army divisions
fought together as a single unit. In fact, Canada was not a nation until the Constitution Act officially
proclaimed Canadian Confederation on July 1, 1867. From then on, Canadian government started to
set up a series of politics; they began to spread their official language and reveal Canadian style; they
also advocated their spirituality to inspire the citizens etc. Is the national(collective) identity
consistently comes first? Since studying abroad, this doubt kept twining in my mind. Staring at the
Canadian national flag, when O, Canada plays on every Monday morning, I feel the Chinese

The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow And Rip Van Winkkle And The...
Washington Irving helped shape the way for American Literature, even earning the title, Father of
American Literature . Irving s many works focused on challenging what was thought to be the normal
writing style. He dared to step outside of the box that others were simply satisfied in staying inside of.
Irving used supernatural occurrences, idealization, imagination, and rationalization to advert from
reality and write his own unique spin on romance. Two of his works that display these diversions are
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and Rip Van Winkle . Irving used these diversions to shape a darker,
but yet still entertaining path into dark romanticism.
In The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Irving uses idealization to describe the town, stating, One of the
quietest places in the whole world. A small brook glides through it, with just a murmur enough to lull
one to repose; and the occasional whistle of a quail, or tapping of a woodpecker, is almost the only
sound that breaks in upon the uniform tranquility (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow p.8). This depiction
makes it a seemingly innocent and ideal town to live in, which is one way to capture a reader s
attention because no place in the world is ever truly ideal.
Unlike in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, it is the mountains in Rip Van Winkle that are something
ideal. Irving expresses so by saying, ... swelling up to a noble height and lording it over the
surrounding country (Baym p. 471). That is not the only idealization among

American History X By Tony Kaye And Written By David Mckenna
American History X Almost one week before I started to take this class, I watched American History
X for the first time. When I learned we are going to do this project, this movie was on my mind and I
did not surprise at all when I saw it in our movie list. Since the beginning of the semester, everything
related to multiculturalism in this movie is becoming clearer to me. Multiculturalism is a huge issue,
especially the country like the US which has many different races. One of the first things I learned
about multiculturalism is; it can be both negative or positive ways. If the different races do not accept
each other, it can be interpreted in a negative way. This movie is a great example of showing the
negative way of the multiculturalism. I see a really big conflict between races in the movie. American
History X is a 1998 American crime drama film which directed by Tony Kaye and written by David
McKenna. Edward Norton is the lead actor as Derek. Even though he is one of my favorite actors, I
never had a chance to watch this movie before. After I watched his tremendous performance in this
movie, I understand why the Academy nominated him the second time for the best actor award. One
interesting fact about the movie, even though it is about multicultural issues in the US, we see
everything from a white point of view. As a result, Academy chooses a white actor as nominee for the
award as usual. It is just so interesting to me. The story of the movie is about two

Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
In the fictional world of Jane Austen, the lives of the characters are based on societal
values and mores that only exist in her novels. The characters and situations that she puts forth
are not concerned with the outside world at all; they are a world in their own. Austen populated
this unique world with morals and characters according to the way of life she knew herself. The
title of the novel is itself a clue to Austen s view of the life that surrounded her: the prejudice of
one s social class that determined your destiny in life and the pride of those people which it
concerned. The two main characters of Pride and Prejudice are key examples of ... Show more content

overhears this exchange and immediately files Darcy away as not worth her time. This first
encounter is what forms the basis for Elizabeth s horrible opinion of Darcy. Because of this
comment introduced so early on in the novel, Elizabeth is more likely to believe and think
unfavorable thoughts about him. Not only has she formed an ill opinion of him at this point, but
her pride is also wounded, something that will not be undone until the novel is almost through.
However, Elizabeth misjudges Darcy. Because of his social standing, she assumes his airs are
pompousness and arrogance, when they are in reality the result of shyness and a certain social
ineptness. As a result she misinterprets his reactions from thereon. In reality, he is slowly falling
for her, against his will. When Elizabeth s sister, Jane, becomes ill and must stay at Netherfield
with the Bingley party, Elizabeth comes to stay and take care of her, leading to more interactions
with Darcy. One moment that is key to understanding their interactions takes place in the library
at Netherfield. Elizabeth asks Darcy what his weakness is and he replies, Yes, vanity is a
weakness indeed. But pride where there is a real superiority of mind pride will always be under
good regulation (Austen 57). Although we do find out later that

A Research Study On Breastfeeding
Case study: breastfeeding
Breast feeding rates in developed countries such as the UK, Australia and the US are typically lower
than World Health Organisation goals Parkinson (2010) 3. From a study carried out by Queensland
university stressed the importance of not only the delivery of literature on how effective breastfeeding
is for your babies health but that what was also needed to increase the number of breast feeders was to
give personal support and explains social and environmental benefits also. When they looked at the
UK in particular, Parkinson (2010) 3 stated women already understood that breastfeeding was good
for their baby, and what they needed were the tools to help them to breastfeed longer. From this it is
clear that although effective and sufficient information around the benefits of the child is being
addressed, there is no sufficient information or skills being given direct to the parents in order for
them to carry this out for any length of time. Another piece of research was carried out in 2010 on
ways to change the paradigm of breastfeeding, from encouraging promotion of breast feeding within
the employment setting. Dr Lawrence (2010) 1 said instead of promoting the tremendous benefits of
breastfeeding to this population, the risks of formula feeding and the costs to health and the
community of not breastfeeding will have to incorporated into persuading these women to do the best
for their infants and themselves .

The Cultural Aspects Of Culture
Culture is a group of characteristics such as customs, beliefs and attitudes that groups of people share
within a certain geographic area. Different geographic locations have different norms and cultures that
are followed by the people that live in that specific location. That being said, religion can be
indigenous or non indigenous. Indigenous religions are religions that are native to a place. Some good
examples of indigenous religions are Shintoism, which is native to Japan, Christianity which,
originated in Rome and Islam, which is believed to be originated in Mecca. A couple examples of non
indigenous religion are Voodoo and New Age. Religions originate when people that live close get
together share their belief systems and can distinguish right from wrong. When a religion is created
the cultural rules get included in the religious rules. For example, in Buddhism, nuns have way more
rules that have to be followed than the priests. Buddhism is native to India, and women in India are
ruled and taken care of by the men. Primarily, the men in this country have power over the women and
it is believed that while creating these rules the culture and norms were incorporated into it. Although,
when studying religions it is good to have the origination, it can be harmful as well. Studying religions
can be biased because the people are so drawn to the origin, that they might focus more on the cultural
aspects. For example, some Brahmins that practice Hinduism do not eat meat but

of socialization develops over time as people learn who they are, social and survival skills. Social
behavior is influenced not only by social skills but also biology; this is called sociobiology. This
chapter provides many examples of the problems that occur when children do not socialize properly
within society. For example, Genie Wiley was considered a feral girl; therefore, she was not accepted
by the norms of society. She was thirteen before found by social workers. Isolated all of her life and
still wearing diapers, she was severely neglected. Even with intense therapy, it was still difficult for
her to adjust to society. In addition

Benefits of Dissection
Dissection, by definition, is the pathological splitting or separation of tissue, according to Webster s
online dictionary. Beneath the simple definition lies an immense amount of controversy. This paper
will provide pros and cons regarding ethics of dissection. Dissection has many benefits. The
experience of dissection is unforgettable. Things you can actually touch usually stick in your head
better, according to Dr. Damon Scoville. Dissection is an approach to science that creates a lasting
impression. Students gain many things from an experience with dissection. Some of which include
respect for life, and necessary skills for dissection that will be useful later in higher level classes. The
hand s on job really allows the student to gain a visual an understanding. They learn the true
positioning of organs and have the opportunity to feel them while dissecting. The 3D view and texture
friendly experience are things not offered in textbooks or on screens. (5) Models and paper do not do
justice or serve as a sense of discovery. As Mr. Roger Kassebaum states, If you are going to be a
surgeon or a veterinarian, that tactile feedback is likely important. The procedure for dissection can be
complex. With this complexity comes the opportunity to teach students motor skills, how to follow
directions, observation and comparison skills, and the relationship between tissues and organs. (5) It is
pretty evident that the educational advantages of dissection are great. Mr.

African American Communities Case Study
Environmental disasters are often pushed into regions with a higher rate of marginalized groups;
relating to class, gender, and race. The dangerous environmental issues that these groups face hinder
their process in the fight for equality, oppressing them and hurting the environment even more. Areas
with a higher black population are forced into poverty for various reasons that African American
communities with environmental problems are forced into poverty and forced into having more health
problems as a result. The town of Convent, Louisiana had an 83.7% African American population,
with a rate of 2,277 lbs. of air pollution produced per person annually, compared to the rest of the

The chemical plants were being placed in Convent because they already had a high rate of pollution
the general consensus between the corporations and the government being that it makes more sense to
put them into a town that already has astronomical rates of pollution than putting them in one that

(CITE SOME SHIT), which made it easier to build the chemical plants there. Media and general
public tend to care less about health and environmental issues when a town lives in poverty, so it was
harder for the townsfolk to gain awareness for the corporations they were fighting against. This is still
evident in places such as Flint, Michigan, where the residents are being forced to drink water that has
highly elevated levels of iron and lead. Media attention was high for a while, but soon Flint faded out
of the spotlight, being left with lead and iron poisoned water. In the city of Flint, 40% of the
population lives below the poverty line, and has a majority black population. (CITE CNN ARTICLE).

Creating Homogeneous Ability Grouping
Background
Research into ability grouping has raised questions about the process of creating homogeneous ability
groups. Evidence suggests it is not uncommon for students to be placed in an inappropriate group for
their ability level (Ireson Hallam 1999; MacIntyre Ireson 2002, as cited in Muijs Dunne, 2010). Muijs
and Dunne (2010) uncovered during their research that middle bands and even the high band
contained students with low test scores. The findings of Muijs and Dunne (2010) suggest the process
in place to group students according to their ability is unreliable. Hallinan (2003) reported the process
teachers were taking was to group students by standardised test scores, prior achievement and the
recommendations of teachers and counselors. The benefit of homogeneous ability grouping is the
opportunity to provide students with differentiated instruction based on their ability level. The result
of heterogeneous ability groups created through the grouping process is one of many concerns. ...

Students in the low band can suffer self esteem issues, as well as negative impacts on their attitude and
motivation (Suknandan Lee as cited in Smith Sutherland, 2006). The negative impacts are greatly felt
by schools in low socioeconomic areas. These schools had higher enrolment numbers, with a larger
portion of minority students and a greater range of abilities (Nomi, 2009). The negative impacts on
students in the low band are likely to be due to the label placed on them. Lanzo (2011) conducted a
comparison research and discovered at risk students benefitted from being in heterogeneous ability
groups rather than homogeneous ability

A Balanced View Of Gaming And Social Behavior
A balanced view of Gaming and Social Behavior Video games are the single largest new source of
media consumption. 91% of children in the United States between the ages of 2 and 17 play video
games (NPD Group). Playing videogames is far more evenly distributed than portrayed in movies and
television. A nationally representative study of teenagers in the United States found that up to 99% of
boys and 94% of girls partake in some form of videogames (Lenhart et al, 2008). This massive new
trend has led many to speculate and analyze the effect videogames might have on their player s social
behavior. Many have studies have correlated gaming with short term aggression. However, almost no
one has looked for potential benefits that playing games might have. A small portion of gaming
behavior research has begun to bring to light several benefits of engaging in modern videogames. A
changing landscape of both content, and engagement requires that researches reevaluate their methods
of study regarding behavior and gaming. The clear majority of studies aimed at finding a relationship
between videogames and behavior have been focused on negative impacts. Media coverage of mass
shootings often highlight if the gunman played violent videogames. The fact that the Sandy Hook
shooter played video games was referenced when Congress allocated $10 million for research into
videogames and violence (Obama Biden, 2013). These studies have produced valuable findings, but

Animal Therapy Helps Improve Human s Emotions And Disorders
Animals have served humans in more than one way including as a source of food, improving our
health, and service in working. They have helped in all of these fields, and humans have grown fond
of them. Nowadays, it is seen that people grow to love their pets, and there are many organizations
fighting for animal rights. Pet owners are extremely attached, so they suffer a lot of pain when the
animal dies. According to a study done in Romania concerning pet loss, humans like having pets and
adopting them because they like caring for a being that is dependent on them. In all aspects of the
relationship between animals and humans, they have helped each other in many ways. Animal therapy
helps improve human s emotions and disorders because of the fact that we like to be nurtured and
taken care of.
Since the 9th century, animal therapy has been active in different fields. The human and animal
interaction has a special connection that can help people emotionally. According to the website of Dr.
Carol R. Hughes, a licensed therapist, the interaction has the ability to heal and assist humans with

Middle-Class Life Narrative
On the way to work, I tried not to think about Jacob being engaged, but it was impossible. Questions
filled my head as I stopped at red lights and stop signs. Could he actually propose to someone else if
we were still legally married? Did I really want to sign the papers when it was time? Was I going to
change my last name back to Blue? Was I going to have to move? I had no clue, but I knew that I
couldn t afford the mortgage on my house by myself and the rest of the bills. I liked the lifestyle I
lived. I drove a Volvo SUV and didn t have a closet full of high dollar clothes, which was perfectly
fine with me because I didn t need all of that. Middle class living was fine with me. I was satisfied
with just having the bills paid. Coming home to a decent house, in a decent neighborhood was
definitely a blessing. I deserved to be happy, with or without Jacob and that was the bottom line. From
that second forward, I decided that I would hang Jacob out to dry. I was ... Show more content on

Over the years of our marriage, I kept a journal of the verbal abuse as well as the phone records from
Jacob s cell phone bills. I knew that he was having hour long conversations in the middle of the night
and on his lunch breaks. I was going to use all of that evidence against him in court. I couldn t wait to
see his face when he found out that I had kept up with his every move. As the pictures that Trudy had
shown me on Erica s Faceplace page came to mind, I could have sworn that I was actually looking at
them. They were embedded in my mind, and I couldn t stop thinking about them. All of a sudden, I
wanted to hurt Jacob all over again. Before I got out of my car, I prayed that a lightning bolt would
strike him down. Not tomorrow, but today. I quickly took back my prayer of Jacob s demise and asked
God to forgive me. I knew that vengeance wasn t mine and that God would deal with Jacob for
breaking his vows in due

Outsiders In The Story Of Tommy Kelsaket s Slash
The story of Tommy Kelsaket, also known as Slash in the book, is about his struggles with growing up
as an indigenous man who went through a lot as the Canadian government s plan was to remove the
culture from the country. Although Tommy was never placed in a residential school where students
would be separated from their family for months, severely punished for speaking their language or
doing anything that followed their culture like at home. Tommy went to a town school where he was
picked on by teachers and other students to the point where he was forced to change in order to fit in.
Looking at the theory of outsider within initially introduced to me in the reading of Hill Collin s
journal, speaking about the concept of the black women being the outsiders within the white houses.
In that case she explained how the black women were still treated as slaves in those years, but some
were allowed into the households to take care of the family s chores such as taking care of the
children, cleaning and cooking meals. Taking this concept into the reading of Slash, knowing I would
have to find an advantage to this once horrible concept, was strange to me. However, this theory can
also be looked at as an advantage in some instances. Tommy was one of the indigenous children who
chose to continue their education past the grade 6 level, with this he was forced to go to the town
school where he took on the role of what I see as being an outsider within. Him and the others who

Human Identity, Art And Symbolism In Ralph Ellison s...
Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man is intricate novel that does an excellent job at exhibiting motifs that the
author himself felt passionate towards considering the era he lived in. Among the plethora of motifs
that Ralph Ellison embedded three particular categories that can be constructed. These categories of
concepts addressed in Ellison s classic are the following: Human Identity, Art and Understanding, and
Human Existence.
Human Identity is presented with a prevalent theme portrayed in this novel, but in order to understand,
we must first compose a definition. Identity constitutes of self perception and public perception. The
motif in Invisible Man illuminates (in respect to Human Identity) is that there stalemate that is at hand
with individual s reliance on external views as opposed to the primary component to identity self
perception . The narrator s situation is the paragon example for this focus on public perception that
results in an individual being mouse on a wheel. At the begin of is coming of age work of literature the
protagonist was asking others questions that only [he] knew the answer to. This situations perseveres
only until after the protagonist (narrator) undergoes a lobotomy that but it wasn t because of the
operation. He found this identity because he came to the realization of the cruelty of humankind.
Without a doubt this was a pivotal moment for the narrator quest for identity, but he has a tendency
(like most human) to find leadership in

The Sea Of The Mediterranean Sea
The Mediterranean Sea is the largest enclosed sea in the world, surrounded by Europe, Africa, and
Asia the most populated region of the globe. It is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the Strait of
Gibraltar which separates Spain from Africa, a distance of 8.9 miles. The sea has an average depth of
4,900 feet, but the deepest point is in the Calypso Deep in the Ionian Deep, having recorded 17,280
feet. It is bordered by 25 coastlines and is split into seven subdivisions of which are the Aegean,
Adriatic, Ionian, Tyrrhenian, Ligurian, Balearic, and Alboran seas. It also contains a shallow
submarine ridge (Strait of Sicily) between Sicily and Tunisia, dividing the sea into two main sub
regions the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. It has an annual temperature of 19 degrees Celsius,
but waters located near the warmer regions (I.E. Africa) can reach up to 26 degrees Celsius in the
summer. The Mediterranean is characterized by its deep blue color which derives from its warm
temperatures and higher salt production due to mass evaporation. It is known to have hot, dry
summers and wet winters except for the Southern regions considering they have desert like climates.
Early civilizations thought that the Mediterranean was the center of their region considering they had
not traveled out of their boundaries yet, therefore giving its Latin name mediterraneus , meaning
middle of land. Its combination of strong winds and an arid climate results in intense

Personality Traits Of Mark Wilson
For years, Mark Wilson managed call centres as an executive at Dun Bradstreet. Year after year, he has
watched the employees come and go. It was not unusual at all to associate call centre work with dull
careers which led nowhere. Mark Wilson knew that this needed to change. Having a dream was easy,
but to take it to action by starting up a new company and to actually keep it running was no easy feat.
Few would place their trust by investing in a young company with no or little revenue, afraid of the
high risk of losses but finally, Mark Wilson got the financing he needed to start Ryla Inc. From his
past experience in working in an environment teeming with job dissatisfaction and lack of drive, he
strived to keep his employees motivated, happy and always on their toes by providing training, giving
incentives as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mark Wilson demonstrates four of the Big Five Model personality traits but has shown little or no
Neuroticism that of which reflects negativity , allowing him to maintain the right mind set for
achievement. Despite the high levels of risk, his drive to succeed gave him the endurance and
persistence to persevere through the trials and obstacles that came his way in realising his vision.
Being able to take the front stage in confidence made him a transformational leader. The genuine
concern he has shown towards his employees helped to empower, inspire and motivate them to a high
levels of job proficiency and organisational commitment. This point was evident in a study which has
shown that employees who are more satisfied in their job led to a greater commitment in their work
(Dirani Kuchinke 2011). This commitment in turn, strengthens customer satisfaction, acceptance and
loyalty. Mark Wilson realised this and with his vision, dedication and passion, managed to turn his
dream into a

Southern Cone History
Throughout the United States of America the Southern Cone and its history may be an unknown.
However, two countries located in Latin America s Southern Cone have important histories that are
relevant to the America. Argentina and Paraguay are major nations of the southern cone that
participated in an undercover operation called Operation Condor which connects many countries of
the Southern Cone. Argentina is the biggest country of the southern cone and has a unique history with
penguins. The Magellanic penguins call Argentina home. These penguins have an interesting take on

Paraguayans do not have many historical happy times in their past. Their history leading up to
Operation Condor involves three men that led the country to a government based on military
dictatorships. After Jose Francia and Carlos Lopez, two of the first leaders of Paraguay after winning
independence from Spain, Francisco Lopez is in power in 1862 (Resnick). Lopez was interested in not
being a country of isolation and forced everyone to be part of the military unless one was a priest or
could pay the price to not be in the military. While he signs a treaty with Uruguay a war is about to
begin over who is in power in Uruguay. Lopez runs into trouble with bringing Paraguay into the War
of the Triple Alliance. Paraguay falls on the wrong side having to fight against Brazil, Argentina, and
the Colorado Party of Uruguay (Resnick). Paraguayans are forced with two options that both end in
death: not fight and be executed by Lopez or go to war and be killed by Brazilians, Argentinians, or
Uruguayans. Paraguay eventually has to even send their children to fight due to the loss of many
people. After Paraguay loses the war, Brazil takes the country over. The next known leader that
Paraguay has after Brazil leaves is Alfredo Stroessner. This man starts the process of Operation
Condor in 1975 (Resnick). Stroessner becomes leader of Paraguay in 1954 due to his planned military
coup taking over the nation. He was the Commander in Chief of the military in Paraguay controlling
all parts of the military. Stroessner put conditions in place like Argentina with additions including
secret police, censorship, prison camps, torture, no freedom of speech, banning unions, curfew,
dissolving Congress, and suspending the Constitution. His reason for the military coup and the new
conditions put in place in Paraguay was due to the fear of

Emergency Medical Transportation Resource Deployment Case...
AA is a nonprofit company that offers emergency and nonemergency transportation activities within
Missouri and Illinois. Due to the large area that they service, they utilize a computer system that
prioritizes the resource allocation that is available. Based on the higher call volume, AA is faced with
not being able to dispatch and utilize resources efficiently and effective. In order to help dispatchers
answer nonemergency trips, a system was developed to categorize priority. This case study discusses
the factors that affect the assignment of resources and how the system is audited for improvements.
Emergency Medical Transportation Resource Deployment AA is a nonprofit organization that render
services in basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS), transportation from ambulance,
van and stretcher transports, etc.. They service a number of clients, organizations and hospitals in
transporting areas all over Missouri and Illinois. Due to the large location in which they service, they
were beginning to have problems with efficiency for dispatchers for nonemergency calls. In order to
decrease the response time, work load distributions and system considerations, AA utilizes a system
that codes (code 0 and code 1) nonemergency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the vehicle to the pick up location, the vehicle type, the timothy crew is scheduled to go off duty, and
the number of runs already completed by the crew (Tan Payton, 2010, p. 346). This process is
beneficial in the system performance because it provides valuable insight in how the system runs and
can show the problems that dispatchers face on a daily basis. In addition, it allows the staff to alter the
program based on these printouts, in order to run a more efficient

Analysis Of Mary Maloney In Lamb To The Slaughter Is it possible for a loving wife that is six months pregnant to love her husband with all her heart, but then moments later is found to be the wife that murders her husband? Well, Mary Maloney, a caring, loving women is the wife of detective Patrick, an alcoholic man that comes home from work only to see his wife that he no longer loves. One day, when Patrick is not sober, he attempts to deliver some upsetting news to Mary about a divorce. Sadly, she does not believe it and carries on with her life, but after having to believe it, Mary takes revenge on Patrick by taking his life from him. Mary Maloney is extremely intelligent and is a very deceiving female character in the short story called, Lamb To The Slaughter. Throughout this story, her character traits do not just portray how she is an effective murderer, but a strong actress as well. Firstly, by using her intelligence, she kills her husband without leaving a trace, showing that she is a sufficient murderer. For example, Mary kills her husband when she, ...[swings] the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and {brings} it down as hard as she could on the back of his head (Dahl 4). Obviously, knowing that the police is going to appear and search for the murder weapon, Mary kills her husband with a frozen piece of lamb because she can cook it later. • 4. The Common Misconception Of The Scientific Community The common misconception in the scientific community is that there is only one way to get things into space a combustion powered rocket. However, recently there have been talks and designs floating around about other methods to travel to space. Currently the technology and tools existing regarding space are seen as revolutionary and ahead of our time. However the possibility for even more advanced and efficient technology is within the grasp of humanity. We first launched a rocket to get to the moon in 1969, and since then the design for space rockets has varied slightly. The use of space shuttles was first introduced in 1981, and since then almost no changes have been made for space travel. In our world if you are not progressing, you are falling behind. We have been using dangerous and unreliable rockets for 47 years now. The recent explosion that occurred for the company SpaceX has highlighted our case and point. The current way to get into space is not only unreliable and dangerous, but it is also highly inefficient and expensive. The main focus in recent years is launching things into geostationary orbits, or orbits that stay in the same spot relative to the Earth. The cost to launch a rocket into a geostationary orbit is currently around 20,000 dollars per kilogram, which is an outrageous amount of money (http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/176625 60000 miles up geostationary space elevator could be built by 2035 says new study). Republicans eventually folded and Barry got his boondoggle fully funded. The argument at the time was that Republicans would be blamed for the shutdown and 2014 would be a disaster, even to the point of Democrats retaking control of the House. They established their headquarters in Hollywood, California and began selling vehicles in 1958. In the first year, Toyota sold 287 Toyopet Crown sedans and one Land Cruiser. Within the first 10 years of business the company began to develop a reputation in the United States for having high quality vehicles that were also reliable. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1996, Toyota engineers discovered an issue with the Hilux Surf, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was sold in England. Toyota sold this same SUV in the United States, but it was called the 4Runner. The engineers were concerned because with a combination of heavy loading and severe steering maneuvers, the SUVs could lose directional stability. This resulted in the possible consequence of drivers losing control of the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. Toyota did make a design change to correct the steering mechanism, but instead of issuing a recall on the existing Hilux Surfs and 4Runners that were already on the road, Toyota simply installed the design change on the new models. Eight years later, there was an accident that involved an out of control Hilux Surf that prompted a police investigation. The Japanese government heavily criticized Toyota and ordered them to overhaul its recall system. Since 2007, Toyota has received major criticism regarding the safety and quality of their vehicles. The company has faced many issues in a short period of time. Following is a brief timeline that highlights the major events that took place: 2007 March 2007 Toyota receives reports about an accelerator pedal glitch in its Tundra model. This small group of people failed due to an incident that had happened the year before. China White, a drug sold to heroin addicts as a legal substitute, contained a poisonous impurity that caused a form of severe brain damage. This caused the US Congress to pass a law allowing the DEA to place an emergency ban on any drug that it felt might cause any danger to the public. MDMA was one of the drugs banned on July 1, 1985. (Saunders p.8) The temporary ban lasted for one year only. There was a hearing set up to decide what the final word would be on Ecstasy. At the end of the case, the Judge recommended MDMA to be placed in a category that was not as restrictive. The DEA would not back down from their decision, and ignored the recommendation given by the judge. By placing MDMA in a less restrictive category it would have allowed the drug to be manufactured and to be used for research. In 1986 a non profit organization called The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, also known as MAPS, opened A Master File for MDMA. This complied with the prerequisite for the licensing of any new drug. By doing this it allowed MAPS to conduct research on MDMA. • 23. Persuasive Essay On Nationalism Kate, Guo Mr. Berdahl Social 20 2 Oct. 28th, 2017. It is a truism to say that nationalism plays a significant role in life. Yet, it is not an easy concept to define directly. Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau depicted that a Canadian not by a skin color or a language or a background, but by a shared set of values, aspirations, hopes and dreams. Meanwhile, Adolf Hitler protested against that nationalism was based upon bloodlines and race , and therefore he carried out racial purity , which repressed the Jewish. On the specific issue of whether to embrace nationalism or not, I am full of the opinion that we should adopt nationalism, but not to be radical. Nation and identity are always related. Canadians firmly believed that the victory of the Vimy Ridge battle in April, 1917 formed the nation, as it was the first time that all four Canadians army divisions fought together as a single unit. In fact, Canada was not a nation until the Constitution Act officially proclaimed Canadian Confederation on July 1, 1867. From then on, Canadian government started to set up a series of politics; they began to spread their official language and reveal Canadian style; they also advocated their spirituality to inspire the citizens etc. Is the national(collective) identity consistently comes first? Since studying abroad, this doubt kept twining in my mind. Staring at the Canadian national flag, when O, Canada plays on every Monday morning, I feel the Chinese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow And Rip Van Winkkle And The... Washington Irving helped shape the way for American Literature, even earning the title, Father of American Literature . Irving s many works focused on challenging what was thought to be the normal writing style. He dared to step outside of the box that others were simply satisfied in staying inside of. Irving used supernatural occurrences, idealization, imagination, and rationalization to advert from reality and write his own unique spin on romance. Two of his works that display these diversions are The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and Rip Van Winkle . Irving used these diversions to shape a darker, but yet still entertaining path into dark romanticism. In The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Irving uses idealization to describe the town, stating, One of the quietest places in the whole world. A small brook glides through it, with just a murmur enough to lull one to repose; and the occasional whistle of a quail, or tapping of a woodpecker, is almost the only sound that breaks in upon the uniform tranquility (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow p.8). This depiction makes it a seemingly innocent and ideal town to live in, which is one way to capture a reader s attention because no place in the world is ever truly ideal. Unlike in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, it is the mountains in Rip Van Winkle that are something ideal. Irving expresses so by saying, ... swelling up to a noble height and lording it over the surrounding country (Baym p. 471). That is not the only idealization among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. American History X By Tony Kaye And Written By David Mckenna American History X Almost one week before I started to take this class, I watched American History X for the first time. When I learned we are going to do this project, this movie was on my mind and I did not surprise at all when I saw it in our movie list. Since the beginning of the semester, everything related to multiculturalism in this movie is becoming clearer to me. Multiculturalism is a huge issue, especially the country like the US which has many different races. One of the first things I learned about multiculturalism is; it can be both negative or positive ways. If the different races do not accept each other, it can be interpreted in a negative way. This movie is a great example of showing the negative way of the multiculturalism. I see a really big conflict between races in the movie. American History X is a 1998 American crime drama film which directed by Tony Kaye and written by David McKenna. Edward Norton is the lead actor as Derek. Even though he is one of my favorite actors, I never had a chance to watch this movie before. After I watched his tremendous performance in this movie, I understand why the Academy nominated him the second time for the best actor award. One interesting fact about the movie, even though it is about multicultural issues in the US, we see everything from a white point of view. As a result, Academy chooses a white actor as nominee for the award as usual. It is just so interesting to me. The story of the movie is about two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of his social standing, she assumes his airs are pompousness and arrogance, when they are in reality the result of shyness and a certain social ineptness. As a result she misinterprets his reactions from thereon. In reality, he is slowly falling for her, against his will. From a study carried out by Queensland university stressed the importance of not only the delivery of literature on how effective breastfeeding is for your babies health but that what was also needed to increase the number of breast feeders was to give personal support and explains social and environmental benefits also. When they looked at the UK in particular, Parkinson (2010) 3 stated women already understood that breastfeeding was good for their baby, and what they needed were the tools to help them to breastfeed longer. From this it is clear that although effective and sufficient information around the benefits of the child is being addressed, there is no sufficient information or skills being given direct to the parents in order for them to carry this out for any length of time. Another piece of research was carried out in 2010 on ways to change the paradigm of breastfeeding, from encouraging promotion of breast feeding within the employment setting. Different geographic locations have different norms and cultures that are followed by the people that live in that specific location. That being said, religion can be indigenous or non indigenous. Indigenous religions are religions that are native to a place. Some good examples of indigenous religions are Shintoism, which is native to Japan, Christianity which, originated in Rome and Islam, which is believed to be originated in Mecca. A couple examples of non indigenous religion are Voodoo and New Age. Religions originate when people that live close get together share their belief systems and can distinguish right from wrong. When a religion is created the cultural rules get included in the religious rules. For example, in Buddhism, nuns have way more rules that have to be followed than the priests. Buddhism is native to India, and women in India are ruled and taken care of by the men. Primarily, the men in this country have power over the women and it is believed that while creating these rules the culture and norms were incorporated into it. Although, when studying religions it is good to have the origination, it can be harmful as well. Studying religions can be biased because the people are so drawn to the origin, that they might focus more on the cultural aspects. The experience of dissection is unforgettable. Things you can actually touch usually stick in your head better, according to Dr. Damon Scoville. Dissection is an approach to science that creates a lasting impression. Students gain many things from an experience with dissection. Some of which include respect for life, and necessary skills for dissection that will be useful later in higher level classes. The hand s on job really allows the student to gain a visual an understanding. They learn the true positioning of organs and have the opportunity to feel them while dissecting. As Mr. Roger Kassebaum states, If you are going to be a surgeon or a veterinarian, that tactile feedback is likely important. The procedure for dissection can be complex. With this complexity comes the opportunity to teach students motor skills, how to follow directions, observation and comparison skills, and the relationship between tissues and organs. Evidence suggests it is not uncommon for students to be placed in an inappropriate group for their ability level (Ireson Hallam 1999; MacIntyre Ireson 2002, as cited in Muijs Dunne, 2010). Muijs and Dunne (2010) uncovered during their research that middle bands and even the high band contained students with low test scores. The findings of Muijs and Dunne (2010) suggest the process in place to group students according to their ability is unreliable. Hallinan (2003) reported the process teachers were taking was to group students by standardised test scores, prior achievement and the recommendations of teachers and counselors. The benefit of homogeneous ability grouping is the opportunity to provide students with differentiated instruction based on their ability level. We began our activities with spaghetti flowers, which involved the use of spaghetti and (edible) marshmallows. Although the teenage boys weren t too receptive to the flower idea, I found that they enjoyed making marshmallow creatures and scenes just as much as everyone else. This acitivity was designed to make everyone aware of the strengths which they possess, and I found that many of the residents had artistic qualitites that set them apart from the rest! We followed this activity with some creative time using color change markers. Everyone made name tags for their doors, and some of them, being incredibly generous, made cards for their friends who were not in the hospital that evening. My second and third visits took place on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday evening was similar to what I had experienced before, but everyone was distracted by all of the other games and activities which were occurring simultaneously. Therefore, I only conducted a couple of activities such as the beginnings of our stories Oh, The Places I ll Go! It was during this visit that I was also able to introduce some of the children to my baby goats and to some dairy cows through pictures. • 45. Middle-Class Life Narrative On the way to work, I tried not to think about Jacob being engaged, but it was impossible. Questions filled my head as I stopped at red lights and stop signs. Could he actually propose to someone else if we were still legally married? Did I really want to sign the papers when it was time? Was I going to change my last name back to Blue? Was I going to have to move? I had no clue, but I knew that I couldn t afford the mortgage on my house by myself and the rest of the bills. I liked the lifestyle I lived. I drove a Volvo SUV and didn t have a closet full of high dollar clothes, which was perfectly fine with me because I didn t need all of that. Middle class living was fine with me. I was satisfied with just having the bills paid. Coming home to a decent house, in a decent neighborhood was definitely a blessing. I deserved to be happy, with or without Jacob and that was the bottom line. From that second forward, I decided that I would hang Jacob out to dry. I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the years of our marriage, I kept a journal of the verbal abuse as well as the phone records from Jacob s cell phone bills. I knew that he was having hour long conversations in the middle of the night and on his lunch breaks. I was going to use all of that evidence against him in court. I couldn t wait to see his face when he found out that I had kept up with his every move. As the pictures that Trudy had shown me on Erica s Faceplace page came to mind, I could have sworn that I was actually looking at them. They were embedded in my mind, and I couldn t stop thinking about them. All of a sudden, I wanted to hurt Jacob all over again. Before I got out of my car, I prayed that a lightning bolt would strike him down. Not tomorrow, but today. I quickly took back my prayer of Jacob s demise and asked God to forgive me. • 46. Outsiders In The Story Of Tommy Kelsaket s Slash The story of Tommy Kelsaket, also known as Slash in the book, is about his struggles with growing up as an indigenous man who went through a lot as the Canadian government s plan was to remove the culture from the country. Although Tommy was never placed in a residential school where students would be separated from their family for months, severely punished for speaking their language or doing anything that followed their culture like at home. Tommy went to a town school where he was picked on by teachers and other students to the point where he was forced to change in order to fit in. Looking at the theory of outsider within initially introduced to me in the reading of Hill Collin s journal, speaking about the concept of the black women being the outsiders within the white houses. In that case she explained how the black women were still treated as slaves in those years, but some were allowed into the households to take care of the family s chores such as taking care of the children, cleaning and cooking meals. Taking this concept into the reading of Slash, knowing I would have to find an advantage to this once horrible concept, was strange to me. However, this theory can also be looked at as an advantage in some instances. Tommy was one of the indigenous children who chose to continue their education past the grade 6 level, with this he was forced to go to the town school where he took on the role of what I see as being an outsider within. Him and the others who came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Human Identity is presented with a prevalent theme portrayed in this novel, but in order to understand, we must first compose a definition. Identity constitutes of self perception and public perception. The motif in Invisible Man illuminates (in respect to Human Identity) is that there stalemate that is at hand with individual s reliance on external views as opposed to the primary component to identity self perception . The narrator s situation is the paragon example for this focus on public perception that results in an individual being mouse on a wheel.
