Discrimination And The Egalitarian Sentiment On...
Discrimination as Virtue In contrast to the egalitarian sentiment on discrimination, namely that it is
almost universally bad, discrimination per se must be exposited and defended against these. There is a
usage of discrimination such that it is always unjust, based on superficial qualities and thus policies
opposing discrimination right a wrong. Rather, discrimination is not only virtuous, it is natural and
necessary. Discrimination, considered for itself, is only the practice of discerning between individuals
for similar and dissimilar traits. Most abstractly, it is only to note that not everything is equal, nor
everything unequal, and that we shall preference those things we evaluate as being proportionate to
the significance of a role. That we discriminate is not hard to demonstrate: we discriminate, for
instance, whenever we choose to marry one person rather than another. Furthermore, it would be
strongly insisted by nearly everyone that this discrimination is not only permissible, it is required for
the formation of a family. Parents should like their daughters to choose husbands suitable to raising
children, and sons to choose wives suitable to the same task. The community, parents, and those
getting married have a strong preference for those they evaluate as possessing those traits, and select
out from potential partners those that demonstrate little potential for the demands of the role. Not all
discrimination is just per se; there are better and worse uses of

Descartes Week 3
Descartes: Week Three Question In Meditation six: Concerning the Existence of Material Things, and
the Real Distinction between Mind and Body, Rene Descartes wrote of his distinctions between the
mind and the body, first by reviewing all things that he believed to be true, then assessing the causes
and later calling them into doubt, and then finally by considering what he must now believe. By
analyzing Descartes writing, this paper will explicate Descartes view on bodies and animals, and if
animals have minds. Before explicating the answer to those questions, Descartes distinctions between
the mind and the body should first be summarized and explained. Descartes starts his distinction of
mind and by writing of his senses, that he has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although animals act on many impulses and mechanisms, many animals have proven that they have
the ability to adapt and survive, showing that they have the ability to think of when they are ill, or feel
pain. Animals have the ability to survive illness and changing environments. If animals only acted on
mechanism, then they would exacerbate illness causing their demise, or they would fail to adapt to the
changing environments, causing them to become extinct. The survival of species throughout years,
proves that animals do not just act on mechanism, but also have a mind that is tightly jointed . In
conclusion, this paper has explained Descartes view on bodies and animals, and analyzed whether
Descartes believed that animals had minds. Explanation of Descartes view of minds and bodies has
been provided, indicating that he believed that the mind and body were tightly jointed , as well as, his
view of how the body would act without a mind. From these explanations, we have been able to
conclude and explain why that Descartes would believe that animal do have minds. References

The Airport Full Body Scanners Essay
Before the attacks on September 11, 2001, there was hardly any security in airports throughout the
United States. However, airports went from hardly any security to full body scanners. According to the
article Airport Full Body Scanners, President Obama stated in a press conference on January 7, 2010
after a bombing on December 25, 2009 by Nigerian passenger Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, Rather
than a failure to collect or share intelligence, this was a failure to connect and understand the
intelligence we already had, but a metal detector can t detect the kind of explosives that were sewn
into his clothes (2010). Arguing the idea of full body scanners, some officials believe the images are
violating the passengers, especially if the passengers are under the age of eighteen. Nonetheless, other
officials would argue the full body scanners are a better method of spotting dangerous substances and
materials than just the ordinary metal detectors. According to Alycia B. Taylor and Sara Steedman,
there were many areas needed to be addressed in airport security prior to September 11, 2001. One
problem is those who were hired by airlines to act as security screeners. Some of these people could
carry threats to the aircraft or the passengers. In May 2000, Department of Transportation Inspector
General agents use fictitious law enforcement badges and credentials to gain access to secure areas,
bypass security checkpoints at two airports, and walk unescorted to aircraft departure

a peaceful woman explains why she carries a gun Essay
Linda Hasselstrom Is a Peaceful Woman Now days world is not safe. According to the CDC, non
contact unwanted sexual experiences are the most prevalent form of sexual violence in the Unites
States. Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. According to the online studies by
Stop Street Harassment, 99% of respondents said that they had been harassed at least a few times. A
Peaceful Woman Explains Why She Carries a Gun by Linda Hasselstrom exemplifies a use of having

For example, one day she noticed an armed man on her land who wanted to shoot ducks. As a result,
she could not feel safe even on her territory. Secondly, as the author was vulnerable even while driving
her car, her possession of a gun was reasonable. Hasselstrom provides the readers with examples to
prove her right. In one of the examples, an unknown car was following her on her way home, and
made her stop by flashing a blinding spotlight in her face. Another example depicts a man who was
playing cat and mouse with Hasselstrom within 30 miles when she was driving in a desolate part of
Wyoming. Thirdly, the fact that Hasselstrom did not feel safe even in public places justified her to
own a gun. She provided an example of her and her friend being harassed and scared by men while
camping in the West. Moreover, looking for some help from the local rangers, she had to face with
their carelessness and unwillingness to protect and help. In addition to Hasselstrom s desire of
protection and safety, there is a desire of peace she was looking for which justified her to possess a
weapon. First of all, she could not get a peace of mind being harassed on a daily basis. Whether she
was among people or on her property, she faced acts of harassment or danger which took her further
away from a peace she was searching for. Then, she could not find a peace of mind if she was
constantly stressed out, suspicious and scared

Allen Pinkerton Essay examples
Allan Pinkerton , born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1819, emigrated to Chicago. He was
America s first private eye. A man of many contradictions, he was a conservative
who strongly opposed slavery, a very cautious man who risked his life capturing criminals,
a militant labor organizer who suppressed the labor movement, and fought for women s
rights to be detectives.
During his twenty eight year career as a private detective, Allan Pinkerton and his
agency investigated over a thousand crimes. Pinkerton was involved in many dramas
of the nineteenth century. Work and the Underground Railroad became his life. The

George McClellan, an old friend of Pinkerton s, wanted him to set up a military

McClellan win several minor battles in the Ohio Valley when war broke out. In 1861,
Pinkerton received devastating news. The Northern Army of the Potomac had been
defeated at Bull Run in the first major battle of the Civil War.
Pinkerton s most challenging opponents was Rose O Neal Greenhow, the South s
most productive and effective spy. She concealed information that thwarted the
attack by General George McDowell at Manassas, outside of Washington. Pinkerton
realized Rose Greenhow, the Southern Rose, presented a great danger and had to be
arrested. A Union army captain was arrested leaving her home, carrying a vital military
map of gun ports. Pinkerton and his agents uncovered many military plans that she had
obtained to aid in the Southern war effort. She had a network of spies, including many
women. After her arrest and release from prison, she traveled abroad, raising money

The Use of Images in William Carlos Williams , The Young Housewife
As is typical of most Modernist poetry, William Carlos Williams uses very specific images in The
Young Housewife to reveal not merely a particular circumstance or event, but to also suggest
underlying themes and ideas of his subject matter. For example, he gives to the reader various real and
imagined images, such her moving about in negligee behind closed doors, or her going about her daily
affairs, that are at once very seductive and suggestive of ideas that supercede their appearances. These
images especially accentuate the young housewife s naturalness and beauty. However, they are quickly
contrasted by a comparison drawn by Williams of the young lady to a ... Show more content on

If the leaves are separated from the tree, they quickly lose their color and texture, drying up until they
are brown and brittle, and die.
Taking this into consideration, we can now move on to what we know about Williams young
housewife. Truthfully, very little is mentioned about her except, of course, her relative age and her
marital status (for some reason these two things just seem to jump out of the text). It is very clear,
however, that Williams does not limit the young housewife to these two aspects of her life, but also
emphasizes other aspects in particular her natural beauty and sexuality, and her separation and
isolation from the outside world.
It is evident that The Young Housewife is a very sexually charged poem. Through its subject matter,
its language, its imagery, and even its use of phrasing, Williams accentuates the young housewife s
seductive and almost unrestrained nature. For instance, He describes her moving about behind closed
doors, dressed in negligee, or going to the curb un corseted to call ice man, or allowing her hair to
hang freely, only periodically tucking it in. All of these images suggest strongly that the young
housewife is a natural and unrestrained character. She is free any imposed social constraints that has
the power to squelch her pristine and almost wild nature.
This sense of unrestraint of the young housewife, however, is purely essential, and not actual or

How Does It Support Children s Learning and Development
How does ICT Support Children s Learning Development
T he technical advances of the last thirty years and the introduction of the internet, globalisation has
made the world a smaller place and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become
increasingly important part of everyday life. Today, it is reported that over eighty percent of
households have a personal computer (PC), with sixty eight percent Internet enabled.
(Marketresearch.com, 17/05/09) Subsequently, government has recognised the need to reflect this
increasing use of technology by ensuring that ICT is to enable children to participate fully in the
rapidly developing technological world around them, whilst in others it is the need for children to be

The Leappad is non judgemental, giving no negative feedback, so the children are free to make
mistakes without fear. I recognise the benefits to both practitioner and learner to have a piece of
equipment that responded immediately. The children could select it and use it straight away rather than
having to request adults support to turn the computer and log onto the Internet or load up a CD ROM.
Having researched the equipment and satisfied that it would be a useful tool for the children s
learning, my emphasis shifted to planning an appropriate activity for the children that would allow me
to access the leappad and with the help of the children and families, evaluate its effectiveness in
children s learning
Before we introduce a new toy into our toy library we bring it into our Play and Learn session to

go over to the leappad and investigate and was then swiftly followed by other children. The older
children were keen to ask questions and asked their parents to help them with how to work the toy.
The curiosity by the children and parents continued throughout the entire session. Bruce identified the

Argumentative Essay On Christopher Columbus Day
In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean and discovered what we now know as the Americas...
or so it s been taught. In all actuality, there were already Native people who had been living in the
continents for thousands of years. Since 1937, the US has used this discovery as a holiday known as
Columbus Day to celebrate a man who established the beginning of colonization of the New World.
While Columbus did begin the colonization of the Americas, he was not the one who discovered them.
History tends to be told from the privileged perspective which is why it s taught that Columbus
discovered these lands. The celebration of Columbus Day promotes the idea of colonization and the
marginalization of Native Americans; people also believe it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In fact, he had reached the Taino island of Guanahani, which is now modern day San Salvador.
Because Columbus believed he was in India, he named the Indigenous people, Native Indians. While
he was not in India, the name of the Indigenous people remained. While some Natives today are okay
with the term American Indian , some also believe that the term Indian is not okay because they are
not from the country of India (Blackhorse, 2017). Whether or not the terminology is offensive, the
moment Columbus landed, the establishment of marginalization and racism toward Indigenous people
of the land began. Celebrating Columbus with Columbus day is essentially honoring racism.
Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different
race based on the belief that one s own race is superior. While it may not be super obvious today, there
are offensive, discriminatory stereotypes and terms used against Natives today. One example is the use
of the racial slur Redskin as the mascot of the Washington NFL team. The racial slur was used during
a time when people would be paid to kill Native Americans (referred to as Redskins) and this is
representation of how those terms can be present in today s society. As a country, Columbus Day is
celebrated to commemorate the discovery of America and to honor the relationship between the US
and Italy, but at what cost? The truth of Columbus influence on

Aneurysm Essay
Introduction
Despite considerable advances in surgical treatment, the ruptured human abdominal aortic aneurysm
(AAA) is still associated with a mortality rate of 65 85% [1, 2] . A diameter is currently the only
reliable determinant of the imminent rupture of an AAA and patients exceeding 5.5 cm generally
undergo surgical or endovascular intervention [2, 3] . However, the outcome of rupture is poor with
less than half of the patients being delivered to the hospital alive [1, 4] . It is well known that
inflammation and proteolytic degradation markedly contributes to the formation and rupture of an
AAA [5, 6] . During inflammation, the aortic wall is weakened by loss of smooth muscle cells (SMCs)
and destruction of the extracellular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, another study described increased expression of ADAM 17, also known as TACE (TNF
converting enzyme), in human AAA [18] . Especially in the transition zone, high levels of ADAM 17
and TNF have been detected , implementing a certain role in the development of AAA. Therefore, the
aim of the present study was to conduct an expression analysis of ADAMs with proteolytic function
[19] such as ADAMs 8, 9, 10, 12, 15 and 17, and their tissue inhibitors of metalloprotease (TIMP) 1
and TIMP 3 [20] in human AAA by quantitative PCR. The localisation of the corresponding ADAMs
was determined by means of immunohistochemistry.
Discussion
The development of AAA is closely associated with alternation of connective tissue in the aortic wall,
especially fragmentation of elastic fibres and collagen degradation through various proteolytic
enzymes, particularly MMPs [8, 9, 22] . Some promising drugs inhibiting MMPs have already been
shown to be successful in experimental models [23] . However, no positive results have been observed
in clinical trials. This phenomenon may be based on the fact that MMPs are not the only proteinases
able to degrade connective tissue. There is a plethora of proteolytic enzymes belonging to the family
of metalloproteinases such as ADAMs with multiple biological roles including cell matrix interaction,
zymogen activation (shedding) and cell adhesion. These

Technology And Social Disconnection From Everyday Life
Not a wired culture, but a virtual cultural that is wired shut: compulsively fixated on digital
technology as a source of salvation from the reality of a lonely culture and radical social disconnection
from everyday life (Doheny Farina, 1996). The mobile telephone has been the most rapidly
disseminated piece of technology in world history. The first commercially available mobile devices
were available in the 1980 s, and since then have expanded exponentially. In 1994, Finland was the
world leader in terms of mobile subscribers with ten percent of the population being hooked on a
mobile contract (Wirzenius, n.d.). Over the past twenty years, these numbers have increased beyond
one s imagination. As of January 2014, ninety percent of American adults own a cell phone and over
half of those own a smartphone (Pew Research Center s Internet American Life Project, 2014). These
numbers will only increase with time as in a survey conducted by Pew Internet (2014) ninety eight
percent of adults between the ages of eighteen to twenty nine own mobile devices with numbers
decreasing slightly as the population aged. As our culture begins to shift more into the digital
revolution age we find ourselves losing vital communication skills in person to person contact. The

are naturally high in sugar content. In addition, juices are high in carbohydrates, amino acids, and
electrolytes, all of which help repair and restore your tired muscles. If you want to make sure that your
juices are as natural as they can be, you can invest in a juicer so you can have full control over what

predominately. Making Pillsbury doughboy a well known positive character throughout schools and
afterschool programs would greatly benefit the company s sales. This can occur by sponsoring an
across the country school board event, such as an a charity event or athletic fun days with the students
such as Me to We day. In addition, I would recommend to create a Pillsbury Dough Boy mascot to
appear at certain community events, where the sales are high in those particular jurisdictions. As well
as playing commercials on children s television channels such as Teletune and Disney. I would further
recommend keeping current on the Advertisements tactics such advertise on the newest and most
popular aps, popular children friendly youtube challenges and instagram pages. As the GMCC
research proves the children are the predominant influencers to the buyers of the product their parents.
Creating brand loyalty with the younger generation will improve the company s overall sales and

American Dance Report
On September 10th, I had the pleasure of attending the Shapiro and Smith Dance. The performance
was a series of different dance numbers that used different elements of sound and movements to
promote their ideas. The first dance was called Dance with Two Army Blankets. The dance used old
army blankets as props to throw the dancers around the stage. Often, the blankets were used to throw
these dancers away from other people who they were trying to reach, as if their experiences with war
made it difficult for them to connect with others. This danced was followed by Jack, a dance between
two men and played around with all the fairy tales and rhymes that were about men named Jack. The
usage of poetry and spoken word in a dance was a new concept to me, with no set rhythm that a

the distance between dancer and audience felt less because the normal glam that is used to separate
those on stage from those in the house was gone. The following dance, however, went back to what I
was expecting to see at a dance show. To Have and To Hold was a number dedicated to those we have
loved and lost but not forgotten, to quote my program. The music was entirely instrumental and the
mood of the music was used to dictate mood of the dance. After the more cheerful and humorous Jack

Analysis Of Toyota s Production System
Toyota s Production System (TPS) is based upon lean principles that includes focusing on the
customer, constant and recurrent improvement, and superiority through waste reduction, and
combined upward and downward developments as part of a lean. TPS is the foundation for what has
become a global movement to think lean . Most manufacturing companies in the world have adopted
some type of lean initiative, and this concept is now spreading to a diverse range of organizations,
including the defense department, hospitals, financial institutions, and construction companies (Liker
Morgan, 2006). Unlike like TPS, Lean is a business improvement idea that focuses on the true needs
of the customer to help the business prevent waste from being built into the system. This paper will

Racial Discrimination And Related Treatment Of African...
According to Merriam Webster, Racism is defined as a belief that race is the primary determinant of
human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular
race (Merriam Webster, n.d.). Knowing this, Racism is certainly not particular to the United States of
America, As Alex Haley, the author of Roots, told Scott Ross, CBN journalist, in a 1992 interview, If
you think about it, ...there is no grouping of people to my knowledge, of any consequence, who have
not, at one or another time, been the object of hatred, racism, or who has not had people against them
just because they were them (Ross 2016). Racial discrimination and related treatment of African
Americans over the decades may be deeply rooted in American culture. In fact, it can be traced to the
Founding Fathers. As history tells us, two of the most famous Founding Fathers owned slaves, and it
goes without saying that for one to justify another s enslavement as did wealthy American colonials
that person would have to hold to the belief that the slave is by definition, and inferior being. Our first
and third presidents: George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were slave owners and their treatment
of African Americans is well documented. (Smithsonian, 2015) The dehumanizing way Early
Americans treated Africans who were imported as slave labor became universally accepted among the
population from the very beginning while still under British rule. In spite of the

Inflation INFLATION CAN OUR ECONOMY GROW WITHOUT IT?
INFLATION CAN OUR ECONOMY GROW WITHOUT IT? What is inflation? The definition of
inflation, according to Webster s Revised Unabridged Dictionary, is an undue expansion or increase,
from overissue. Although, Webster s is considered by most to be the overall best dictionary, WordNet
states the meaning of inflation a lot clearer by saying, it s a general and progressive increase in prices.
It occurs when the value of goods rises faster than the value of money. The usual approximate measure
of this is the Consumer Price Index, which weigh the prices of different goods according to
importance in a typical budget and then shows how much the prices of these goods have increased.

That s an incredible drop for such a short period of time. Another good demonstration of a healthy
economy with low secondary effects of inflation is time period between the Korean Vietnam Wars.
During this time the countries economy expanded at an annual average of 3.5% while the inflation rate
stayed at a minimal amount. Our central bank, along with the Clinton Administrations and many other
major economists seem to believe that any kind of growth in the economy of over 2.5% will trigger
inflation. That s why so many economists assumed that with the ever lowering unemployment rates of
recent, there would be huge increases in wages and it would sharply inflate prices. This same
assumption was made because of the Federal Reserve s actions in the past. In 1994 the Federal
Reserve tried slowing down the economy in the fight against inflation by raising interest rates. They
were not thinking of the opportunity costs of a million new jobs that could have been created, but were
not, due to the economies slumping standards.
Because of this, many personal incomes that could have been increased were not. This is just one
example of market failure through the ideas of Phillips Curve and the Consumer Price Indexes. As I
stated earlier, the Consumer Price Indexes, that most economists go by to judge inflation, are not

Title IX Research Paper
In 1972 Congress passed the Educational Amendments. One section of this law, Title IX prohibits
discrimination against girls and women in federally funded education, including in athletic programs.
Since its arrival, in regards to athletics, there have been arguments for and against the many aspects
pertaining to this law. Title IX has had a large impact on high school and college athletics in the
attempt to give females an equal opportunity, but the means by which they are achieving this goal is
an ongoing debate.
The basic Title IX statute provides: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be
excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any

In fact, OCR is attempting to make it clear that each of the three prongs of the test is an equally
sufficient means of complying with Title IX, and no one prong is favored (Reynolds July 11, 2003).
The three prong test also makes it clear that it is not Title IX that is forcing the cut backs in men s
sports but those put in a place of decision making at each institution who chose how it is that they
want to comply with Title IX s three prong test.
In some cases a schools decision to cut sports in order to comply with Title IX has lead to a lawsuit.
An example of this would be Miami University. The university formed a committee to address the
issue of Title IX compliance and hired a consultant as well. The committee and consultant determined
that in order to comply with Title IX, the university had the option of eliminating a few sports for men.
As a result, the university eliminated the men s soccer, wrestling and tennis teams, effective at the end
of the 1999 spring semester (Challenge 2002). On November 18, 1999, the plaintiffs filed a complaint
against the defendants, claming that the defendants elimination of the men s wrestling, tennis and
soccer programs at Miami University, a state university of the State of Ohio and a recipient of federal
funds, constituted gender discrimination in violation of the 20 U.S.C. et seq. And violated their rights
to equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment (United 2002). The court found that the plaintiffs

Magna Carta Vs Declaration Of Independence
Magna Carta means The Great Charter it was a peace treaty ending revolution against an English king.
A copy of the Magna Carta s first appearance was part of the Lord Mayor s Show which parade.
Magna Carta states how the government should treat its people. Also The Declaration of Independence
states how the government should treat its people. Finally they will compare and contrast to see if they
are similar in how they treat each other s people.
Magna Carta says that the government should treat its people to have different rights. One right that
they would have is the right of a wealthy widow that would have centuries long relevance. It would
guaranteed them church freedom. This means that the rich widows will have every right and freedom
to be in that church. Another thing he says how the government should treat its people is by making
sure of their safety. Taking care of your safety means you have to follow the rules. Even the king has
to follow these rules for his safety. This is stating that it does not matter how old you are or how young
you are everyone has rules that will keep them safe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Independence says that the government should treat its people with truth and self evident. That is
when finally women and men were told that everyone would be equal it does not matter if you a men

Kierkegaard And Communism
On first and second glance, it may appear impossible to draw any concrete connection between the
philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard, a seventeenth century Danish Philosopher who worked heavily on
existential themes, faith, and Christianity, and the Soviet Union. On one hand, Kierkegaard himself
lived his life almost solely in Denmark, rarely leaving his own hometown, so his experience of the
World outside of Denmark was extremely limited and focused on his world, especially the world of
the Danish National Church. On the other hand, the Soviet Union embraced Communism, and with it
its atheistic stances on social and political implications of religion and religious institutions, the Soviet
ideology would appear to stand in opposition to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to attempt this sort of analysis, there are a number of factors that must be addressed first, with
the most crucial being the understanding of Kierkegaard, his relevant works, and his Philosophy.
Søren Aabye Kierkegaard was born in 1813 in Copenhagen to Ane Sørensdatter Lund Kierkegaard
and Michael Pedersen Kierkegaard, the latter a pastor of the Danish National Church. According to
Daniel Conway, a professor of Philosophy and the Humanities at Texas A M, although influential
today for his diverse contributions to the fields of philosophy, theology, rhetoric, literary theory, and
depth philosophy, Kierkegaard was widely known in his own day as a provocative social critic
(Conway 2015, 1). He was highly critical of the church in his hometown, and the Danish National
Church in general, in addition to Christianity and what it meant for one to have faith in the almighty.
Thus, much of Kierkegaard s work deals with faith and Christianity to some extent, as seen with Fear
and Trembling, the work that will be most heavily sourced within this thesis. Kierkegaard s Fear and
Trembling was written and published in 1843 under the pseudonym Johannes de Silentio. Kierkegaard
often wrote and published his works under different pseudonyms, each often having some sort of
significance to the work in which it is situated. The significance of the pseudonym of Fear and
Trembling, according to the author of

SOME SUCCESS STORIES IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
SOME SUCCESS STORIES IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
Adriano O. Solis, Ph.D.
Academic Advisor, NAPM El Paso
Wal Mart Stores Perhaps one of the most commonly cited success stories in supply chain management
(SCM) is that of Wal Mart Stores, Inc., which reported total sales of $191.329 billion and a net income
of $6.295 billion during the fiscal year ended January 31, 2001 (see www.walmartstores.com). These
figures represent a 15.9% growth in total sales and a 17.1% increase in net income over the
immediately preceding fiscal year. International sales accounted for $32 billion of the total sales
figure, increasing 41% over the previous year. Wal Mart, which opened its first store in Arkansas in

Under such a system, the vendor subject to bounds previously agreed upon with the retailer decides on
the appropriate levels of inventory to carry at the retail stores, as well as the corresponding inventory
policies to maintain such levels. In the P G and Wal Mart partnership, P G committed to the
development of a dedicated team to handle the Wal Mart account. A primary objective of this team is
to facilitate information sharing between the two firms and address logistics, supply, management
information systems, accounting, finance, and other issues (Handfield and Nichols, 1999). Under this
arrangement, Wal Mart shares point of sale information from retail outlets directly with P G, giving
the latter easy access to information on consumer transactions and buying patterns. P G s dedicated
Wal Mart account team effectively takes responsibility for the marketing and sales of P G products
within Wal Mart stores. Similar VMI partnerships with other giant retailers have been established by P
G. These partnerships have dramatically improved P G s on time deliveries to Wal Mart and the other
retailers while increasing inventory turnovers (Simchi Levi, et al, 2000; Handfield and Nichols, 1999).
At the same time, they save the retailer a significant amount of managerial and other resources, and
demonstrate how information sharing leads to mutual advantage for both

How Did Louis Armstrong Live In Concert
Louis Armstrong Live in Concert (Jazz) On October 4th, I watched Louis Armstrong Live in Concert
in Berlin in 1965. In this concert, I noticed Armstrong played a variety of songs with a variety of
different tempos. The first song he played was more adagio and right after that his song picked up in
tempo and changed to a more allegro with a vivace, lively feel to it. Each one of Armstrong s songs
had a different feel to it. Before watching this concert, I knew of Armstrong due to playing a jazz
instrument in middle school. Armstrong is a very well known musician in the jazz community and he
is very talented. During the concert, Armstrong transferred from playing his trumpet to singing many
times. He also had a trombone player on stage as

Steganography, An Ulterior, And Lesser Known Approach For...
Steganography is an ulterior, and lesser known approach to private communication. Steganographic
applications work by taking in three things: a cover work; this could be a picture, an audio file, a video
file, etc., a message to be embedded, and a stego key; we don t always use one but if we do it is much
like an encryption key. Steganography applications will then embed the message into the cover work.
This is most commonly performed using a method known as LSB embedding, which I will explain in
detail.
LSB embedding involves taking the gray scale values of certain pixels, and making sure the LSB, or
least significant bit is set to the bit value needed. If we have a gray scale value of 51, or 00110011, and
we need to have a 0 embedded at this pixel value, the application will simply change the gray scale
value to 50, or 00110010. If the grey scale value already ended in a 0 we would leave it as is. Within
LSB embedding are three options for how the pattern of pixels are chosen. The first method; which
has the lowest form of security, is sequential. This method embeds the pixels in a sequential manner,
for example: left to right, top to bottom. The second method is pseudo (random). This method works
exactly as it sounds and simply embeds based on a random pattern, which can be initialized by the
stego key provided. The third, and most secure, method is adaptive. Adaptive works intelligently, by
first analyzing the cover work and identifying locations where statistical

Business Sector Analysis for Budgens Stores Ltd
Business Sector Analysis for Budgens Stores Ltd INTRODUCTION A business organization cannot
survive in its industry if it does not keep an eye on what is happening in its internal and external
business environment. The analysis of business sector or environment acquaints an organization with
the issues, challenges, and external factors that have a direct or indirect impact on its business
operations and profitability. On the basis of this analysis, the organization can formulate its future
strategies and compete in the industry in a more effective and vigilant manner (Cadle, Paul Turner

Papa John Financial Analysis
Papa John s financial performance varies when comparing its financial ratios to its competitors.
Unfortunately, Papa John s cannot directly be compared to Pizza Hut because the largest pizza chain
corporation is part of Yum Brands, Inc., which also operates Taco Bell and KFC. In addition, the
fourth largest pizza operator, Little Caesars, is a private entity that does not require to publicly
disclose its financials. Therefore, a comparison of Papa John s financial analysis will be completed by
using one of the larger rivals, Domino s Pizza, and one of the smaller pizza chain enterprises, Rave
Restaurant Group (Rave).
When comparing different organizations of all sizes within an industry, it is feasible to use financial
ratios, especially liquidity ratios. Horngren, Harrison, and Oliver (2012) defines liquidity as a measure
of the company s ability to pay its short term debt obligations. Some examples of basic liquidity ratios
are the current ratio and quick ratio.
On one hand, a corporation s current ratio measures a company s ability to pay current liabilities with
its current assets (Horngren, Harrison, Oliver, 2012, p. 733). Papa John s current ratio of 1.14 for
fiscal year ending 2016 was higher than Rave s 0.76 (Morningstar, 2017). Nevertheless, Papa John s
current ratio is lower than Domino s Pizza, whose ratio was 1.23 for the same time period
(Morningstar, 2017). On the other hand, Papa John s quick ratio of 0.63 is higher than both Domino s

Spread Of Christianity Research Paper
THE SPREAD OF CHRISTIANITY DURING THE TIME OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.
Introduction
Speaking about Christians and not discussing the doctrines of Christianity becomes an obscure task.
The reason for this obscurity is that without Christianity to support them, Christians would not even
exist. The very term, Christian, comes from the religion of Christianity and means Christ like. For
those wondering how far back the existence of Christians can be dated, it is worth noting here that
there are mentions of Christians in the New Testament Acts 11:26. While originally, the term Christian
was used only to describe the followers of Christianity; these days, anything simply associated with
Christianity is called as Christian a Christian restaurant, a Christian ... Show more content on

In fact, it did just the opposite, strengthening Christianity in the second and third centuries by forcing
it to become more organized. Fear of persecution meant that only the most committed individuals
would choose to follow the outlawed faith. Crucial to this change was the emerging role of the
bishops, who began to assume more control over church communities. The Christian church was
creating a new structure in which the clergy (the church leaders) had distinct functions separate from
the laity (the regular church members). Christianity grew quickly in the first century, took root in the
second, and by the third had spread widely. Why was Christianity able to attract so many followers?
First, the Christian message had much to offer the Roman world. The Roman state based religion was
impersonal and existed for the good of Rome. Christianity was personal and offered salvation and
eternal life to individuals. Christianity gave meaning and purpose to life. Second, Christianity seemed
familiar. It was viewed by some as similar to other religions, offering immortality as the result of the
sacrificial death of a

Homework Assignment Analysis
Writing has always been a passion of mine. I love sitting and putting my thoughts on paper. I make
lists, write God letters, send people cards, and pour my thoughts and feelings out through the scribble
of a pen. Since I love to write, I am always encouraging my grandkids to write as well. I have found
that journaling is a great way for us to spend time together sharing ideas. It also gives me a chance to
learn what they are thinking and feeling.
Be excited about this new adventure and let the child know it is a big deal not just another homework

they would like to use for this particular project. I think a special pen is also an important part of

Seeing you write in your journal sets an example for them and can also peak their interest. Another
benefit of working on the journal together, at least in the beginning, is that you can help the child
arrange their thoughts and coach them along as they attempt to put them on paper. My rule is spelling;
grammar and punctuation are not being graded so the child is free to be creative without fear of being
judged for their mistakes.
There are many different styles of journals these days, but I prefer the ones that are not dated. If the
child gets busy and skips a few days it can be discouraging to go back and start writing again. If there
is no date no big deal just start writing. I do recommend that you start each new entry with a date; this
will help in years to come to remember when you wrote the entry.
Personal diaries or journals are a fun way of recording things going on in your life. Encourage your
little writers to put down how they are feeling; what makes them happy or sad and special people they
have interacted

Insurance Advantages And Disadvantages
Benefits and impediments of insurance coverage
The add on in the insurance is the protection that is offered by the insurance provider at the time of
sale and it promises to reimburse for the damage of the product.
One of the integral parts of owning a vehicle is the having a motor insurance, but many people think
of it as an annual recurring expenditure. On the other hand, the motor insurances offer many add ons
that benefit the users by acting as a protective shield for the vehicle. In the current situation
purchasing a general motor insurance is not sufficient enough, and so many vehicle insurance
companies are offering their consumers with various add on packages as a part of the insurance policy.

it in the past, and helped other countries cope with epidemics, deadly diseases still pose problems in

Descriptive Experience Of Roller Coasters
#Roller coasters are mainly recognized for the thrill. When I was younger I was always fascinated by
the bright colors that they represented. A variety of rides caught my attention but I was always afraid
to get on the highest roller coasters. From what I remember as a child my family and I visited multiple
amusement parks such as Six Flags, Knott s Berry Farm and Disneyland. All those ravishing places
impacted my curiosity about roller coasters stability. Since I was only an adolescent my curiosity
arbitrary sparked on its own it was only until then when I began to think differently. Although I was
too afraid to ride the highest roller coasters I was primarily curious about the height, velocity, and
thrill excitement.
#One of my main concerns of these rollercoasters was the height they all incorporated with each other.
It appeared to me like skyscrapers left to right in a threesixty circular motion. These roller coasters
were exceedingly high up in the sky something I never understood was who would construct these
enormous attractions. I repeatedly questioned the height of these rides while I stared at them
continuously trying not to panic every time I looked up. Acrophobia is significantly the fear of height,
which I appeared to been having every time I visited an amusement park. My family habitually
attempted to give me motivation so my fear of heights wouldn t make me uncomfortable. In addition,

The Rio Grande´s Controversial Situation
The Rio Grande
Many people think that having a river near their city can always be good as they can make a good
usage of the river, just like San Antonio made their river very profitable. What people never think is
what problems or controversies the river can create. Almost always a river may have its advantages
and disadvantages and it is no different with the Rio Grande. The Rio Grande is not as profitable
because two countries own the river. Instead if it was own by only one country then the river would be
more useful. The Rio Grande creates many problems between the United States and Mexican
Government, it is also very useful for both governments and for human beings, the water itself has
many issues, and should the water not be used anymore.
Many problems arise do to the Rio Grande between governments especially, between El Paso and

never happy and always wants a bigger part of the river. Both governments believe the river only
belongs to one country, that is because they are greedy and just do not want to share the water when
they believe they should be the owner of all the river. For example, in El Paso and Juarez the water
should be split in half, but instead El Paso takes nearly all of the water. Before, Juarez would get most
of the water even though El Paso did get a great quantity. A few years back El Paso decided to

  • 2. Discrimination And The Egalitarian Sentiment On... Discrimination as Virtue In contrast to the egalitarian sentiment on discrimination, namely that it is almost universally bad, discrimination per se must be exposited and defended against these. There is a usage of discrimination such that it is always unjust, based on superficial qualities and thus policies opposing discrimination right a wrong. Rather, discrimination is not only virtuous, it is natural and necessary. Discrimination, considered for itself, is only the practice of discerning between individuals for similar and dissimilar traits. Most abstractly, it is only to note that not everything is equal, nor everything unequal, and that we shall preference those things we evaluate as being proportionate to the significance of a role. That we discriminate is not hard to demonstrate: we discriminate, for instance, whenever we choose to marry one person rather than another. Furthermore, it would be strongly insisted by nearly everyone that this discrimination is not only permissible, it is required for the formation of a family. Parents should like their daughters to choose husbands suitable to raising children, and sons to choose wives suitable to the same task. Although animals act on many impulses and mechanisms, many animals have proven that they have the ability to adapt and survive, showing that they have the ability to think of when they are ill, or feel pain. Animals have the ability to survive illness and changing environments. If animals only acted on mechanism, then they would exacerbate illness causing their demise, or they would fail to adapt to the changing environments, causing them to become extinct. The survival of species throughout years, proves that animals do not just act on mechanism, but also have a mind that is tightly jointed . In conclusion, this paper has explained Descartes view on bodies and animals, and analyzed whether Descartes believed that animals had minds. Explanation of Descartes view of minds and bodies has been provided, indicating that he believed that the mind and body were tightly jointed , as well as, his view of how the body would act without a mind. However, airports went from hardly any security to full body scanners. According to the article Airport Full Body Scanners, President Obama stated in a press conference on January 7, 2010 after a bombing on December 25, 2009 by Nigerian passenger Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, Rather than a failure to collect or share intelligence, this was a failure to connect and understand the intelligence we already had, but a metal detector can t detect the kind of explosives that were sewn into his clothes (2010). Arguing the idea of full body scanners, some officials believe the images are violating the passengers, especially if the passengers are under the age of eighteen. Nonetheless, other officials would argue the full body scanners are a better method of spotting dangerous substances and materials than just the ordinary metal detectors. According to Alycia B. Taylor and Sara Steedman, there were many areas needed to be addressed in airport security prior to September 11, 2001. One problem is those who were hired by airlines to act as security screeners. Some of these people could carry threats to the aircraft or the passengers. In May 2000, Department of Transportation Inspector General agents use fictitious law enforcement badges and credentials to gain access to secure areas, bypass security checkpoints at two airports, and walk unescorted to aircraft departure ... Secondly, as the author was vulnerable even while driving her car, her possession of a gun was reasonable. Hasselstrom provides the readers with examples to prove her right. In one of the examples, an unknown car was following her on her way home, and made her stop by flashing a blinding spotlight in her face. Another example depicts a man who was playing cat and mouse with Hasselstrom within 30 miles when she was driving in a desolate part of Wyoming. Thirdly, the fact that Hasselstrom did not feel safe even in public places justified her to own a gun. She provided an example of her and her friend being harassed and scared by men while camping in the West. Moreover, looking for some help from the local rangers, she had to face with their carelessness and unwillingness to protect and help. In addition to Hasselstrom s desire of protection and safety, there is a desire of peace she was looking for which justified her to possess a weapon. First of all, she could not get a peace of mind being harassed on a daily basis. The Use of Images in William Carlos Williams , The Young Housewife As is typical of most Modernist poetry, William Carlos Williams uses very specific images in The Young Housewife to reveal not merely a particular circumstance or event, but to also suggest underlying themes and ideas of his subject matter. For example, he gives to the reader various real and imagined images, such her moving about in negligee behind closed doors, or her going about her daily affairs, that are at once very seductive and suggestive of ideas that supercede their appearances. These images especially accentuate the young housewife s naturalness and beauty. However, they are quickly contrasted by a comparison drawn by Williams of the young lady to a ... Taking this into consideration, we can now move on to what we know about Williams young housewife. Truthfully, very little is mentioned about her except, of course, her relative age and her marital status (for some reason these two things just seem to jump out of the text). It is very clear, however, that Williams does not limit the young housewife to these two aspects of her life, but also emphasizes other aspects in particular her natural beauty and sexuality, and her separation and isolation from the outside world. It is evident that The Young Housewife is a very sexually charged poem. Through its subject matter, its language, its imagery, and even its use of phrasing, Williams accentuates the young housewife s seductive and almost unrestrained nature. For instance, He describes her moving about behind closed doors, dressed in negligee, or going to the curb un corseted to call ice man, or allowing her hair to hang freely, only periodically tucking it in. All of these images suggest strongly that the young housewife is a natural and unrestrained character. She is free any imposed social constraints that has the power to squelch her pristine and almost wild nature. This sense of unrestraint of the young housewife, however, is purely essential, and not actual or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In all actuality, there were already Native people who had been living in the continents for thousands of years. While Columbus did begin the colonization of the Americas, he was not the one who discovered them. Whether or not the terminology is offensive, the moment Columbus landed, the establishment of marginalization and racism toward Indigenous people of the land began. Celebrating Columbus with Columbus day is essentially honoring racism. Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one s own race is superior. One example is the use of the racial slur Redskin as the mascot of the Washington NFL team. The racial slur was used during a time when people would be paid to kill Native Americans (referred to as Redskins) and this is representation of how those terms can be present in today s society. However, the outcome of rupture is poor with less than half of the patients being delivered to the hospital alive [1, 4] . Hence, another study described increased expression of ADAM 17, also known as TACE (TNF converting enzyme), in human AAA [18] . Especially in the transition zone, high levels of ADAM 17 and TNF have been detected , implementing a certain role in the development of AAA. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to conduct an expression analysis of ADAMs with proteolytic function [19] such as ADAMs 8, 9, 10, 12, 15 and 17, and their tissue inhibitors of metalloprotease (TIMP) 1 and TIMP 3 [20] in human AAA by quantitative PCR. The localisation of the corresponding ADAMs was determined by means of immunohistochemistry. Discussion The development of AAA is closely associated with alternation of connective tissue in the aortic wall, especially fragmentation of elastic fibres and collagen degradation through various proteolytic enzymes, particularly MMPs [8, 9, 22] . Some promising drugs inhibiting MMPs have already been shown to be successful in experimental models [23] . However, no positive results have been observed in clinical trials. This phenomenon may be based on the fact that MMPs are not the only proteinases able to degrade connective tissue. There is a plethora of proteolytic enzymes belonging to the family of metalloproteinases such as ADAMs with multiple biological roles including cell matrix interaction, zymogen activation (shedding) and cell adhesion. Most manufacturing companies in the world have adopted some type of lean initiative, and this concept is now spreading to a diverse range of organizations, including the defense department, hospitals, financial institutions, and construction companies (Liker Morgan, 2006). According to Merriam Webster, Racism is defined as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race (Merriam Webster, n.d.). Knowing this, Racism is certainly not particular to the United States of America, As Alex Haley, the author of Roots, told Scott Ross, CBN journalist, in a 1992 interview, If you think about it, ...there is no grouping of people to my knowledge, of any consequence, who have not, at one or another time, been the object of hatred, racism, or who has not had people against them just because they were them (Ross 2016). Racial discrimination and related treatment of African Americans over the decades may be deeply rooted in American culture. In fact, it can be traced to the Founding Fathers. As history tells us, two of the most famous Founding Fathers owned slaves, and it goes without saying that for one to justify another s enslavement as did wealthy American colonials that person would have to hold to the belief that the slave is by definition, and inferior being. Our first and third presidents: George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were slave owners and their treatment of African Americans is well documented. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to attempt this sort of analysis, there are a number of factors that must be addressed first, with the most crucial being the understanding of Kierkegaard, his relevant works, and his Philosophy. Søren Aabye Kierkegaard was born in 1813 in Copenhagen to Ane Sørensdatter Lund Kierkegaard and Michael Pedersen Kierkegaard, the latter a pastor of the Danish National Church. According to Daniel Conway, a professor of Philosophy and the Humanities at Texas A M, although influential today for his diverse contributions to the fields of philosophy, theology, rhetoric, literary theory, and depth philosophy, Kierkegaard was widely known in his own day as a provocative social critic (Conway 2015, 1). He was highly critical of the church in his hometown, and the Danish National Church in general, in addition to Christianity and what it meant for one to have faith in the almighty. Solis, Ph.D. Academic Advisor, NAPM El Paso Wal Mart Stores Perhaps one of the most commonly cited success stories in supply chain management (SCM) is that of Wal Mart Stores, Inc., which reported total sales of $191.329 billion and a net income of $6.295 billion during the fiscal year ended January 31, 2001 (see www.walmartstores.com). These figures represent a 15.9% growth in total sales and a 17.1% increase in net income over the immediately preceding fiscal year. In the P G and Wal Mart partnership, P G committed to the development of a dedicated team to handle the Wal Mart account. A primary objective of this team is to facilitate information sharing between the two firms and address logistics, supply, management information systems, accounting, finance, and other issues (Handfield and Nichols, 1999). Under this arrangement, Wal Mart shares point of sale information from retail outlets directly with P G, giving the latter easy access to information on consumer transactions and buying patterns. P G s dedicated Wal Mart account team effectively takes responsibility for the marketing and sales of P G products within Wal Mart stores. Similar VMI partnerships with other giant retailers have been established by P G. These partnerships have dramatically improved P G s on time deliveries to Wal Mart and the other retailers while increasing inventory turnovers (Simchi Levi, et al, 2000; Handfield and Nichols, 1999). In this concert, I noticed Armstrong played a variety of songs with a variety of different tempos. The first song he played was more adagio and right after that his song picked up in tempo and changed to a more allegro with a vivace, lively feel to it. Each one of Armstrong s songs had a different feel to it. Before watching this concert, I knew of Armstrong due to playing a jazz instrument in middle school. • 28. Steganography, An Ulterior, And Lesser Known Approach For... Steganography is an ulterior, and lesser known approach to private communication. Steganographic applications work by taking in three things: a cover work; this could be a picture, an audio file, a video file, etc., a message to be embedded, and a stego key; we don t always use one but if we do it is much like an encryption key. Steganography applications will then embed the message into the cover work. This is most commonly performed using a method known as LSB embedding, which I will explain in detail. LSB embedding involves taking the gray scale values of certain pixels, and making sure the LSB, or least significant bit is set to the bit value needed. If we have a gray scale value of 51, or 00110011, and we need to have a 0 embedded at this pixel value, the application will simply change the gray scale value to 50, or 00110010. If the grey scale value already ended in a 0 we would leave it as is. Within LSB embedding are three options for how the pattern of pixels are chosen. The first method; which has the lowest form of security, is sequential. This method embeds the pixels in a sequential manner, for example: left to right, top to bottom. The second method is pseudo (random). This method works exactly as it sounds and simply embeds based on a random pattern, which can be initialized by the stego key provided. The third, and most secure, method is adaptive. Adaptive works intelligently, by first analyzing the cover work and identifying locations where statistical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Business Sector Analysis for Budgens Stores Ltd Business Sector Analysis for Budgens Stores Ltd INTRODUCTION A business organization cannot survive in its industry if it does not keep an eye on what is happening in its internal and external business environment. Unfortunately, Papa John s cannot directly be compared to Pizza Hut because the largest pizza chain corporation is part of Yum Brands, Inc., which also operates Taco Bell and KFC. In addition, the fourth largest pizza operator, Little Caesars, is a private entity that does not require to publicly disclose its financials. Therefore, a comparison of Papa John s financial analysis will be completed by using one of the larger rivals, Domino s Pizza, and one of the smaller pizza chain enterprises, Rave Restaurant Group (Rave). When comparing different organizations of all sizes within an industry, it is feasible to use financial ratios, especially liquidity ratios. Horngren, Harrison, and Oliver (2012) defines liquidity as a measure of the company s ability to pay its short term debt obligations. Some examples of basic liquidity ratios are the current ratio and quick ratio. On one hand, a corporation s current ratio measures a company s ability to pay current liabilities with its current assets (Horngren, Harrison, Oliver, 2012, p. 733). Papa John s current ratio of 1.14 for fiscal year ending 2016 was higher than Rave s 0.76 (Morningstar, 2017). Nevertheless, Papa John s current ratio is lower than Domino s Pizza, whose ratio was 1.23 for the same time period (Morningstar, 2017). • 31. Spread Of Christianity Research Paper THE SPREAD OF CHRISTIANITY DURING THE TIME OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE. Introduction Speaking about Christians and not discussing the doctrines of Christianity becomes an obscure task. The reason for this obscurity is that without Christianity to support them, Christians would not even exist. The very term, Christian, comes from the religion of Christianity and means Christ like. For those wondering how far back the existence of Christians can be dated, it is worth noting here that there are mentions of Christians in the New Testament Acts 11:26. While originally, the term Christian was used only to describe the followers of Christianity; these days, anything simply associated with Christianity is called as Christian a Christian restaurant, a Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, it did just the opposite, strengthening Christianity in the second and third centuries by forcing it to become more organized. Fear of persecution meant that only the most committed individuals would choose to follow the outlawed faith. Crucial to this change was the emerging role of the bishops, who began to assume more control over church communities. The Christian church was creating a new structure in which the clergy (the church leaders) had distinct functions separate from the laity (the regular church members). Christianity grew quickly in the first century, took root in the second, and by the third had spread widely. Why was Christianity able to attract so many followers? First, the Christian message had much to offer the Roman world. The Roman state based religion was impersonal and existed for the good of Rome. Christianity was personal and offered salvation and eternal life to individuals. Christianity gave meaning and purpose to life. Second, Christianity seemed familiar. It was viewed by some as similar to other religions, offering immortality as the result of the sacrificial death of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Legal disputes over the land, issues with jurisdiction and Geraldine s reluctance to speak initially all hinder their efforts to seek legal punishment for Linden Lark and his actions. Joe himself has another obstacle in particular that prevents him personally from pursuing justice; his age. In the latter half of the novel, the conflict between legal justice and the justice of traditional Ojibwe culture is contrasted. Joe s age, along with the jurisdiction issues and other obstacles, is one more factor that prevents him and his family from obtaining legal justice; thus Joe is forced to rely on more traditional methods of his tribe for exacting it on behalf of his mother.
