The Effects Of Slavery In Parable
But how did all these people find themselves in the state of being oppressed and why did America, as
Bankole says, [slip] back 200 years ? (Butler 305) What is truly frightening is that the massive re
emergence slavery (and other problems that are prevalent the US in Parable violence, drugs, poverty)
were not caused by some alien race or the robots taking over the Earth or an end of the world scenario
like the nuclear war, but simply came to be because of humanity s inactivity, its refusal to deal with
many social, economic, and environmental issues that plague our contemporary world. (Allen 1355)
Phillips writes that in Parable there are two principal agents of destruction: the business corporation
and the militarized state. (304) When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earthseed, the religion Lauren discovers, is the trace of utopia in this grim world and provides the
alternative via communities Lauren plans to establish. The first of them is Acorn, which she starts on
Bankole s land in northern California. Phillips calls it a hopeful experiment in enlightened
communalism (a communalism that transcends differences in race, class, gender, and sexuality). (309)
Precisely those characteristics which made the group vulnerable on the road, their interracial
composition and their hyperempathy, become the basic tenets of who they are as a community. Butler
s creation of the diverse group of individuals, some of whom also are sharers, that make up Earthseed
reflect[s] Butler s emphasis upon community and communal sharing as a balm against the poverty,
racism, and sexism so prevalent in the larger world outside their sect. (Allen

Lady And The Peddler
In S. Y. Agon s story The Lady and the Peddler, A Jewish peddler named Joseph roams through an
unknown forest, but stops at the house of a woman, living alone, to sell some of his wares. After he
leaves her house, Joseph gets caught in terrible weather and returns to the woman s house to see if he
could stay there until the storm is over. Helen, the homeowner, eventually accepts him in her house,
and in exchange, Joseph makes small repairs around the house. Joseph ends up staying there through
winter and abandons his peddler ways. He drops his guard and relaxes, blissfully ignorant of the
danger awaiting him. Joseph stops behaving like a Jew, he eats the feast she prepares for him dropping
the dietary Jewish dietary restrictions, and changes his dress by wearing Helen s old husband s
clothes. Joseph lives with Helen like he is her husband, but one day he realizes that Helen wants to kill
him, and drink his blood just as she had done with her previous husbands. After a two failed attempts
on his life, Helen ends up killing herself instead. Joseph barely escapes, and in an unemotional manner

unfamiliar area is symbolic of the foreign countries across Europe that Jewish people have been living

Joseph holds a traditional occupation typical of old Judaism that is considered air business (Shapira

A Double Edged Sword Essay
There is a growing awareness that addressing past injustices are crucial for the process of healing and
reconciliation. In order to move towards a peaceful future, governments must acknowledge and
respond to the wrongs and injustices of the past. While there is an agreement between people that the
process of reconciliation must acknowledge the wrongs of the past and the victims, many scholars
debate about how such acknowledgments are best communicated, so that they will be sufficiently
credible and effective in improving future relations. In fact, many argue that memory is crucially
important as a response to past injustices, especially when dealing with human rights violations.
Memorializing the past, through memorials, commemorative ceremonies, etc., is widely promoted as a
valuable way of redressing the wrongs of the past. But what kind of redress can memorials provide,
and how can they advance in transitional justice? Indeed, I consider these symbolic reparations to be a
double edged sword due to their strengths and weaknesses, it presents only a fraction of the process
that needs to be fulfilled for redressing the losses that were suffered by the victims. In recent years,
forgiveness has attracted attention as a possible response of victims to perpetrators in past violent
human rights abuses. Moreover, transitional justice focuses on the effective and legitimate ways of
addressing past wrongs and moving towards achieving political reconciliation and re establishing

Assessment Of Shell s Corporate Social Responsibility
Topic: Assessment of shell s corporate social responsibility in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria
Executive Summary
Oil for over a decade has been the main source of income for the Nigerian economy. It accounts for
more than 70% of export. The Niger Delta region of Nigeria has been plagued with different negative
effects of oil exploration. The environment, economy and even quality of human life have been
greatly affected. This has created a lack of trust between the inhabitants and the oil companies, and
even with the Nigerian government.
Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) has been viewed in different ways by different school of
thoughts; some see it has a voluntary initiative, while others think it s a main part of every company s
structure and even an opportunity to improve brand. For this work, we would take the position of the
later argument. It is simply giving back to the environment that you gain from. It involves protection
of the environment, development of quality of the occupants of the environment and improving their
quality of life. Like Barnard (1938), it is analyzing the social, economic, moral, legal and physical
aspects of the environment.
This project seeks to objectively analyze the activities of oil companies in this region. Shell, a major
player in the oil industry of Nigeria received the spotlight. An extensive analysis of their CSR was
done. This was achieved by comparing with different standards; notably the ISO26000. A review of

Examples Of Archetype In Beowulf
Beowulf was an epic poem that embodied many of the themes of the time period that it was written.
Many ideas such as the obsession was wealth, power, and fame are well documented throughout
history. While Beowulf was certainly fiction, there is no reason that the unknown creator of the epic
would not have taken elements from the surrounding culture to enrich the story. This theory would
justify the recurring elements of masculine male warriors and a lack of women as anything other than
wives or bargaining chips. It is no secret that women have not always been treated as equals,
especially in a time where most societies were patriarchal. All of the ancient societies also tend to
have their legends and heroes. Beowulf was simply an exaggeration ... Show more content on

Two Ways Which Cultural Influences May Contribute To The...
I would tell her that not every woman bleeds during their first time having sex. The bleeding is
dependent on the person. A woman s hymen could have been torn in some other way before her first
time having sex. Additionally, vigorous play and tampon use can also lead to earlier bleeding and
explain why a woman s hymen is already torn. All women are different, thus pain and bleeding
occurring during every woman s first time having sex is different too.
2. Briefly explain at least two ways that cultural influences may contribute to the development of
sexual dysfunctions among women. (1 point)
In our culture, we tend to give more masculine names to a man s penis and dirty sounding names to a
woman s vagina. This contributes to women feeling uncomfortable and degraded. The male genitalia
names mostly reference power, while names for women genitalia mostly have negative connotations.
In Chinese culture, the vulva is referred to as something beautiful, such as a flower. Another influence
to the development of sexual dysfunction among women is pornography. Some women tend to imitate
what sexual workers in pornography do because it is a very large part of our culture. However, this
leads to sexual displeasure for women and their partners. Imitating sexual pleasure leads to sexual
disfunction.

Define the term token resistance. Explain why token resistance may have negative consequences. (2
points)
Token resistance is when someone says no to sexual advances, but they actually really want to engage
in sex. Saying no in this scenario can lead to negative consequences because it prevents honest
communication and gives into gender stereotypes. This can also give men the idea that it is okay to
disregard women s refusals when it comes to sex. This can lead to men becoming more aggressive it
they think a woman is using token

Sydney Perspex Sheets
Remodelling a bathroom on a budget is a challenge many landlords are familiar with. After purchasing
another buy to let home to add to their property portfolio, they discover the smallest room in the home
leaves a lot to be desired. Mismatched bathroom fittings do not attract good tenants, so it is time to roll
up their sleeves to install a new bath, sink, toilet and shower. Of course, after fitting a sparkling white
china bathroom suite they must lay new flooring and tile the walls. Tiling is an arduous task and
ceramic tiles rarely look smart for long. Acrylic splashbacks are fashionable and in Sydney Perspex

popular? Kitchen and bathroom tiles must be well maintained. Tiled walls are not the easiest thing to

Christian Persecutions
Throughout the first four centuries, Christianity began to plant its roots and establish itself as a
legitimate religious presence. However, just as the Christians battled other religious presences over
what are correct teachings and practices, they also were prompted by the Roman Empire to conform or
face consequences. These consequences came in the form of a series of persecutions, which in turn,
triggered different responses from the Christians. The persecutions of Christians occurred over a span
of ten Roman Emperors and about three hundred years. Thus, over the years of persecution, numerous
reasons arose that caused this treatment of Christians by the Roman Empire. During the latter half of
the first century, Christianity was becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attacks on the Christians could not be formed due to the Empire s lack of stability at the end of the
third century. However, at the end of the third century and beginning of the fourth century, under
Diocletian, the Empire was revamped and the peace ceased. Diocletian believed that the Christians
were a hindrance to the Empire s unity, which angered the gods. In 303, Diocletian launched a purge
of Christians throughout the Empire. During the attack, churches and scriptures were to be destroyed
and the rights of Christians were taken away (Euseb. H.E.). Then, following a Christian rebellion in
Syria, Diocletian had all clergy imprisoned due to this rebellion proving the Christians as a physical
threat. Also, the execution of more than two hundred Christians at Nicomedia occurred because of the
out lash in Syria. Finally, a order of people to make a sacrifice to Roman gods was established, but
received resistance from Christians despite imprisonment and torture. Although the events in this
persecution were the most gruesome, the Empire did not have the ability to wipe out the Christians via
purge due to the Christian growth that had occurred over the four

A Study on Traffic Violations Essay
A STUDY ON TRAFFIC RULES VIOLATIONS IN CHENNAI
(VANDALUR AND PERANGALUTUR)
Submitted By:
Praveen Kumar A, MBA.
INTRODUCTION Violations in traffic laws are very common in a highly populated country like
India. The conditions are even worse in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai Bangalore and Chennai. The
accidents associated with these violations cause a huge loss to life and property.
Same is the case in Chennai. Being a metro city and a highly populated one also, has a lot of road
accidents every year. Despite this the violations in traffic laws do not reduce. A lot of people disobey
the rules every day sometimes willingly and sometimes because they are forced to do so because of
others.
The major traffic laws in India ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it has a vast population which causes a lot of traffic on the roads. Knowing these factors help us
to collect more accurate data because it enables us to compare between different situations and make a
better analysis. These factors can be identified as:
Overcrowded roads because of a large population, Maximum traffic is observed during office hours
i.e. between 8.00 10.00AM and 5.00 8.00PM. Therefore the maximum violations are also done during
these peak hours. Are report includes study during both peak as well as non peak hours. One another
important factor is that since most of the offices are in the areas like Vandalur and Perangalatur, the
maximum traffic is observed in these areas. So these areas experience maximum breaking of traffic
laws.
The violations mentioned in the report are:
Overloading of vehicles it is very common in the case of two wheelers.
Not wearing helmets or seat belts is also a major rule which is not followed and is the cause of many
deaths and serious injuries.
Drunken driving and speeding beyond a mentioned limit.
Driving in the wrong direction is one of the key violations.
Not obeying the traffic signals is observed mainly during the peak hours of traffic as everyone is in a
rush to reach early.
Thus, these are the basis on which the report is based.
METHODOLOGY
As the traffic violations will give out better results when studied at the places with high density of

The Cuban Revolution In Nicaragua

One of the first areas in Latin America to be affected by the Cuban Revolution was the small Central

people lived in poverty, and in the 1960s Nicaragua was faced with same problem. The fact that Cuba

This year, for my Science Fair Project I plan to do a study on how varying system parameters affect
the dynamics of a multi tank liquid level hydraulic system. The purpose of this type of system is to
maintain a constant fluid flow. In order to maintain this fluid flow the tanks have to preserve a certain

because about two years ago, when I was in the seventh grade, I did a science fair experiment where I

Pine wood or Pinus Radiata is made from the pine tree which is an evergreen coniferous tree which
has clusters of long needle shaped leave. Many kinds are grown for soft timber, which is widely used
for furniture.
Pine trees are grown in the northern hemisphere where it is warm and where plenty of sun is provided
for the pine trees to grow. Pine trees cannot grown well under shady conditions because pine trees are

Moisture can be gained or lost from the air based conditions from the surrounding environment or
how the pinewood is stored. As water is soaked into the pine wood the wood will start to contract due
to all the moisture it has gained, if the pine wood is freshly cut from the pine tree and is exposed to air
the wood will immediately begin to lose moisture and the wood will not contract at this point of time.
Pine wood is cheap and very affordable to buy from hardware stores and other stores that supply pine
wood. Pine wood is readily available in hardware stores, timber yards, and pinewood suppliers.
The advantages of pine wood is it s cheap and it s a renewable resource. Pinewood is fast growing in
comparison to other timbers. Pine wood is readily available from hardware stores, timber yards, and
pine wood suppliers. Pine wood is a soft wood and can easily be marked by even a finger nail. Pine
wood is very easy to work with and it can be cut radially to make more use of the tree. Pine wood is
also fairly lightweight.
The disadvantages of using pinewood is that it is not long lasting and pinewood deteriorates rapidly
meaning becoming progressively worse when not used or stored properly. The best way to finish of
pine wood furniture is to put on a water proof coat and then apply varnish for a smooth finish.

Ecology And Evolution Reflection Paper
Personal Reflection after Ecology and Evolution Being raised as an Evangelical Free Christian,
evolution was considered somewhat of a dirty word. This being said, I knew that there were parts of
evolution that were undeniably true. I also thought that science usually pointed towards evidence of
there being a God. I was never really a Young Earth Creationist. However, I still thought that Young
Earth Creationists could be right because in my opinion, God is omnipotent, and the flood could have
happened further back in history than estimated. The flood then could answer why the continents look
the way they do today compared to pangea, and it could also answer some other geological problems
with Young Earth Creationism. Although I thought it was still possible, I thought it extremely unlikely.
Instead, I thought that the Earth was created much longer ago, but that God still created creatures in
their own kinds , and that these kinds diverged into even more species by natural selection. I knew
evolution could change a species a little bit at a time to the point where there would be two different
species, but I wasn t sold on the whole idea that Evolution could cause a fish to become a human.
However, there were two major things that started to change my mind. The first was the Harvard study
with the petri dish that contained different levels of antibacterial properties. This study showed that
mutations can cause a significant change in a species, and led to me thinking it

The active performance of the students can be seen during recitations, asking questions and
participation in class activities. The researcher decided to stick with the variable, recitation of the
students. When a child is active in his or her performance, it is possible that he or she learned a lot and
gets more knowledge. As for the researcher s opinion, seating arrangement is not for a shallow reason
of controlling the students because after all, inside the classroom, there is always an authority and that
is the teacher and authority should be followed for they set order for the better. In case of a classroom,
seating arrangement is a concern for the teachers in order to prevent and lessen constraints brought by
the students that could affect the attention of both the teacher and the classmates and much worse the
learning process that could affect the active participation of the students. Still, the majority s
advantage is being seen. The researcher aims to know the effects of U style seating arrangement to
active participation in terms of first, question and answer portion between the teacher and students,
second, sharing of ideas of the students and lastly, lessening of disruptive behavior in the class. Also,

Operation Barbarossa Research Paper
In the month of August 1939, Adolf Hitler met with the Soviet Union leader, Joseph Stalin, and made
an agreement to work with each other to invade Poland, known as the Soviet Non Aggression Pact.
Germany continued to invade other countries, and began WWII. Over the next two years, the Soviet
Union invaded Finland, Baltic States, and signed a neutrality pact with the Japanese Empire. Russia
and Germany for the next two years did not view each other as enemies, but Hitler had other
intentions. Germany had plans to invade the Soviet Union, to remove the Communists and the

Rank Group Defies Brexit With Impressive Profit Increase
Rank Group defies Brexit with impressive profit increase While Brexit has rocked a number of major

can even be argued that Rank Group has gone beyond what it was expected financially speaking, as it
posted a profit increase of 15% during the financial year. Coming about through a fresh digital focused
strategy, it appears that Rank Group is defying doubters across the board. The report, which details
final results for the year to 30th June, shows that their profit before taxation was a very healthy £85.5

Group also increased by 2% to £753 million. The figures show that, generally speaking, Rank Group

surrounding Rank Group, Henry Birch (Rank Group Chief Executive) has been quick to comment on

Summary Of Flesh And Blood So Cheap
Both fire extinguishers and smoke detectors were invented in the early 1900s, yet 146 lives were taken
in the Triangle Fire. Could you imagine the lack of safety standards during this time period? The non
fictional story, Flesh and Blood So Cheap, by Albert Marrin, uses explicit and implicit evidence
throughout the text to convey his theme about the unsafe conditions that resulted into the tragedy of
the Triangle Fire. First of all, Marrin uses explicit ideas to inform readers about some of the events in
the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. For example, he states in the text that a worker in the building had
probably thrown away a cigar in the trash, which started the fire. In the first paragraph, the text states,
Most likely, a cutter flicked a hot ash or tossed a live cigarette butt into the scrap bin. From this
phrase, readers can obviously tell that if the cutter had not used the cigarette in the first place, the fire
might have never occurred. When people from the ninth floor prepared to jump to their deaths, the
firefighters came to rescue them, but failed to save anyone. In paragraph twelve, it states, The men s
hands were bleeding, the nets were torn and some caught fire from burning clothing. The same
paragraph also states, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to paragraph two, it states, A foreman ran for the hose on the stairway wall. Nothing! No
water came. This quote shows that it was the building was not safe because the hose was not
connected to the water. Another implicit quote is stated in paragraph seven, where it states, Those who
reached the ninth floor stairway door found it locked. This was not unusual, as employers often locked
doors to discourage latecomers... This quote supports the fact that readers can infer that the owner did
not care for the workers because they locked doors in the building, which is also another unsafe
condition in the

Salem Witch Trials Historical Analysis
Assess the differing interpretations of the causation of the Salem Witch Trials.
Historians have offered many differing explanations for the causation of the Salem Witch Trials of
1692, thus illustrating that historiography is ever changing. Numerous theories have attempted to
interpret the causes of the mass hysteria from ergot poisoning to actual witchcraft. Many historical
writers have attempted to assign only one single factor or event to the cause of the Salem Witch Trials,

The first explanation for the witch trials was the real life presence of witchcraft within Salem, this
factor was underpinned by the historians pre Enlightenment and often Puritan worldview. The Puritan
Mindset was displayed to be obsessed with superstitions and witchcraft. The historian must have a
belief in the existence of witchcraft and the Devil, in order to attribute the causes of the trials to real
witchcraft. Cotton Mather, who had an important role in the Trials published a historical account in
1963 called The Wonders of the Invisible World, he had a belief in witchcraft and the Devil, therefore
he saw this explanation to be logical and reasonable. Cotton Mather was a Puritan Minister who could

Why We Should Celebrate D-Day
We all celebrate many holidays but one holiday that we are missing and should have is D Day. The
Allied forces that fought along side America to try to take back France from Germany. The fight
during D Day was no easy task for the soldiers the location and the weather made it difficult for them
to get to land. Germany had many advantages that took out many soldiers even after they finally got to
the beach. D Day one of the bloodiest days with a battle that was not easy for the Allies should
become a holiday. The date when the battle of Normandy took place was during world war 2 and the
other countries who fought alongside should also celebrate. During World War II, it was the day (June
6, 1944) on which the Allied forces of Britain, Canada, and the United States invaded Normandy coast
of German occupied France ( D Day ). The date for holiday should be June 6 and kids should have a
day off. And we should recommend that Britain and Canada also celebrate this holiday. Britain and
France announced that an invasion there would lead them to declare war with Germany ( Drez 11).

Department Business Targets Into Our Daily Routines
department business targets into our daily routines. Using the MBO methodology of collaborative
planning GTPLS Gippsland operation has developed an activity based strategic plan that focuses on
our efforts towards the delivery of specific outcomes. These outcomes will in turn, lead to the
achievement of our goals and reaching the company s vision.
The success of this plan / strategy relies on a commitment to implementation and regular monitoring
of our progress no matter what we strive to achieve with the business planning process it will become
an exercise in theory unless there are mechanisms by which progress towards our stated outcomes are
reviewed and measured. To that end, the introduction of performance measurement is the key to this
plan and The Company s financial management (including contracted accountant) will be responsible
for collation of data and monitoring of business plan activities for presentation at proposed monthly
management meeting s with the key performance information being formally reported to management
and GTPLS staff at that time.
While dedicated planning is essential, rigid adherence to a faulty plan will lead to poor performance or
failure. A key aspect of successful planning is ongoing evaluation and flexibility, and it is intended
that this plan will be reviewed on a regular basis. This will ensure that all key business targets and
activities remain appropriate mechanisms for achieving both company s sales targets and strategic
goals.

Biosphere Project
During our biosphere project, some things went well, like having soil from the ground, and others
made it worse. I hope our findings will be useful in the biosphere you re about to start. One thing that I
would definitely suggest doing is planting grass seeds as well as other plants. This will help to
produce more oxygen, give a more realistic environment to your animals, and take more carbon
dioxide out of the air. Just in case your plants die, the grass can keep your biosphere alive for a little
longer. If you can find any worms, you should put them in your biosphere because they help
decompose dead organisms, and they produce carbon dioxide for the plants. I also recommend not
having a pond, but using a spray bottle instead. Animals can drown in the pond, and it might even dry
up if there isn t enough precipitation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hypothyroidism Essay
Hypothyroidism is an affliction that results from the disruption of the effectiveness of the thyroid
gland and its hormone secretion. According to Cabello and Wrutnia (1989), the thyroid is key in
affecting growth hormone (GH), and in turn, body growth as a whole. As a part of the endocrine
system, the thyroid gland is responsive to the pituitary gland through the delivery of thyroid
stimulating hormone (TSH), and the pituitary gland is responsive to the hypothalamus s messenger,
thyroid regulating hormone (TRH). When cells called thyroid gland follicles are underactive, both
growth and overall development can be affected. Additionally, removal of the pituitary has been a
method employed by endocrinologists to induce hypothyroidism. A clinical case described by Nussey
and Whitehead (2001) revealed symptoms often associated with hypothyroidism, including a
disruption of mental processes, gut motility, metabolic rate and the skeleton . ... Show more content on

T4 is made into its active form, triidothyronine (T3) when acted upon by an iodine removing enzyme,
5 deiodinase. Other studies have also shown that a lack of iodine can lead to hypothyroidism (Nussey

levels are linked to transient newborn hypothyroidism, which can impede growth dramatically. Still,
other researchers have shown that propylthiouracil (PTU) prevents the transformation of T4 into
active T3 (Geffner et al, 1975), disrupting its permissive effects. Clearly, hypothyroidism can be
brought upon an individual by a variety of methods, many of which can be demonstrated in a

Tikki Davi Theme
Good vs. Evil the Obvious Claim for Rikki Tikki Tavi
Theme is a central message of a story, it also can be expressed by a generalization, or by a general
statement about humans or someone s life. It s overall the most important part of the story. I am
confident the theme of this story is good versus evil. I know that Rudyard Kipling wrote Rikki Tikki
Tavi because in the story evil snakes bully other animals in the garden, as well as the family. The
gigantic snakes pick on the tiny mongoose. The good is represented by the bravery found in Rikki
tikki. He builds up enough courage to fight the gigantic cobra, the cobra is as big as the Cubs stadium.
I can see where some people view the theme as survival, because the antagonist and protagonist are ...

The antagonist was being selfish when she made Nag go an try to kill Rikki tikki, she was thinking of
herself and herself only. In this short story it states that Nagaina left Nag when it was her plan she told
Nag to kill Rikki tikki and his family. For determined to harm others the story clearly states that
Nagaina. You warned Rikki tikki, I would have to kill him. I thought that was a skilled quote of her
showing the reader that Nagaina was determined to kill Rikki tikki.
An alternative claim might be, the bigger one doesn t always win. Rikki tikki battled the two cobras
that were bigger than him. He came out with a win, Chuchundra was frightened he was gonna get
killed by Rikki tikki. He was frightened because he saw how little Rikki tikki was and he was able to
kill Nag and Nagaina. Chuchundra was even frightened to run out into the middle of the floor and face
Rikki tikki at Teddy s house.
It is clear that the theme in this short story is good versus evil. The theme in this story helps us know
that this story isn t about a mongoose and a snake! It is however, about bullying and good versus evil.
It is stated in this short story that Rikki tikki stuck up for his family and friends. One time I saw
someone bully a boy that was younger than him, and the younger kid conquered. That s how I can
relate to good versus

Deontology On Abortion
Deontology view on Abortion
The controversial topic that can spark a discussion from anyone is the abortion. Both sides of the
argument bring out valid points, but when we take a look through Deontology point of view we have a
strong argument on why abortion is wrong. LaFollette writes in the chapter where he explains
Deontologists stance that Each of us has, for example, a special obligation to our own children: they
have a claim on our attention and resources (pg.159). Deontologist s focus is on the rightness or
wrongness of the actions, thus the duty of these actions is taken in the consideration. The duty of
caring for the child from the beginning of it s life until maturity, and the duty to see that the life of a
fetus ends in itself and not by us, is the focus of Deontologists argument against abortion.
We as humans are born with an instinct to continue our human race, in other words to care for our
young so they can pass on the gift of life. It is written in the Ethics in Practice that ... and we have a
duty to care (pg. 152), that duty carries on for our offspring. It is no surprise that we see even in the
animal kingdom where parents sacrifice their lives for their offspring. Also, Hugh LaFollette writes,
We owe things to those with whom we have special relationships such as our friends, colleagues, and
family members... (pg 152) we owe the protection and love so we can continue our human race . One
of the ethical bases in the healthcare field is that

Filing Systems May Not Be Electronic Or Manual
Filing systems may either be electronic or manual. An organisation will probably utilise a combination
of both systems, choosing the most suitable arrangement for the data that is to be stored. Regardless of
the type of system adopted, it should be effective and efficient, accessible, accurate, reliable and user
friendly. In a school setting, both electronic and manual filing systems are used on a daily basis. To
give an example; A manual filing system is used to store individual pupil s confidential information.
Each pupil has their own file; this is filed alphabetically and held in a filing cabinet in the school
office. The child s file contains confidential information such as date of birth, address, family history
and medical details. This filing cabinet is kept locked at all times to ensure that children s information
is protected and respected and only available for viewing by authorised staff. An electronic filing
system is used to record the school s financial transactions. This is a very thorough and rigorous
method for storing such important details. The system generates orders; payments and reports that
enable the head teacher and school business manager to monitor spend and control budgets. This
system is only accessible to the school business manager and access is protected by a password. Filing
systems may be used to store information that is readily available to anyone to browse, such as
telephone numbers of schools within the local education authority.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
The topic that I chose to research is Seasonal Affective Disorder, also abbreviated as SAD. This topic
is very relevant to me since I am one of those that suffer. It is very common, and most people who
have it, don t even realize it. An astounding 1 in 3 people suffer with SAD (Molloy, 2014). Seasonal
Affective Disorder is a type of depression that is observed within a certain period of time. This time
frame is from fall to spring, and usually it is around the same time length for everyone. While often
misunderstood as just those gloomy winter days , Seasonal Affective Disorder is very serious and if
not handled correctly, can result in continued depression throughout the year. Another very important
misconception, is that Seasonal Affective Disorder only affects people in the winter. Although less

are a weight gain, loss of interest, tiredness, difficulty concentrating and staying on task, and thoughts
of hopelessness and worry (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2017). While not all of these symptoms are applicable
to all sufferers, many people face these obstacles through the entirety of winter. In the cases of SAD in
the summer, symptoms are generally the opposite. Things to pay attention to in the summer are
troubles sleeping, weight loss, anxiety and restlessness (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2017). Though these two

  • 2. The Effects Of Slavery In Parable But how did all these people find themselves in the state of being oppressed and why did America, as Bankole says, [slip] back 200 years ? (Butler 305) What is truly frightening is that the massive re emergence slavery (and other problems that are prevalent the US in Parable violence, drugs, poverty) were not caused by some alien race or the robots taking over the Earth or an end of the world scenario like the nuclear war, but simply came to be because of humanity s inactivity, its refusal to deal with many social, economic, and environmental issues that plague our contemporary world. (Allen 1355) Phillips writes that in Parable there are two principal agents of destruction: the business corporation and the militarized state. (304) When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earthseed, the religion Lauren discovers, is the trace of utopia in this grim world and provides the alternative via communities Lauren plans to establish. The first of them is Acorn, which she starts on Bankole s land in northern California. Phillips calls it a hopeful experiment in enlightened communalism (a communalism that transcends differences in race, class, gender, and sexuality). (309) Precisely those characteristics which made the group vulnerable on the road, their interracial composition and their hyperempathy, become the basic tenets of who they are as a community. Butler s creation of the diverse group of individuals, some of whom also are sharers, that make up Earthseed reflect[s] Butler s emphasis upon community and communal sharing as a balm against the poverty, racism, and sexism so prevalent in the larger world outside their sect. Agon s story The Lady and the Peddler, A Jewish peddler named Joseph roams through an unknown forest, but stops at the house of a woman, living alone, to sell some of his wares. After he leaves her house, Joseph gets caught in terrible weather and returns to the woman s house to see if he could stay there until the storm is over. Helen, the homeowner, eventually accepts him in her house, and in exchange, Joseph makes small repairs around the house. Joseph ends up staying there through winter and abandons his peddler ways. He drops his guard and relaxes, blissfully ignorant of the danger awaiting him. Joseph stops behaving like a Jew, he eats the feast she prepares for him dropping the dietary Jewish dietary restrictions, and changes his dress by wearing Helen s old husband s clothes. Joseph lives with Helen like he is her husband, but one day he realizes that Helen wants to kill him, and drink his blood just as she had done with her previous husbands. After a two failed attempts on his life, Helen ends up killing herself instead. Joseph barely escapes, and in an unemotional manner leaves the lady s house. This unfamiliar area is symbolic of the foreign countries across Europe that Jewish people have been living in for hundreds of years, but have not been able to integrate into. Joseph holds a traditional occupation typical of old Judaism that is considered air business (Shapira 133), and as many Jews of the time, he is barely getting by. • 5. A Double Edged Sword Essay There is a growing awareness that addressing past injustices are crucial for the process of healing and reconciliation. In order to move towards a peaceful future, governments must acknowledge and respond to the wrongs and injustices of the past. While there is an agreement between people that the process of reconciliation must acknowledge the wrongs of the past and the victims, many scholars debate about how such acknowledgments are best communicated, so that they will be sufficiently credible and effective in improving future relations. In fact, many argue that memory is crucially important as a response to past injustices, especially when dealing with human rights violations. Memorializing the past, through memorials, commemorative ceremonies, etc., is widely promoted as a valuable way of redressing the wrongs of the past. But what kind of redress can memorials provide, and how can they advance in transitional justice? Indeed, I consider these symbolic reparations to be a double edged sword due to their strengths and weaknesses, it presents only a fraction of the process that needs to be fulfilled for redressing the losses that were suffered by the victims. In recent years, forgiveness has attracted attention as a possible response of victims to perpetrators in past violent human rights abuses. Moreover, transitional justice focuses on the effective and legitimate ways of addressing past wrongs and moving towards achieving political reconciliation and re establishing ... • 8. Assessment Of Shell s Corporate Social Responsibility Topic: Assessment of shell s corporate social responsibility in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria Executive Summary Oil for over a decade has been the main source of income for the Nigerian economy. It accounts for more than 70% of export. The Niger Delta region of Nigeria has been plagued with different negative effects of oil exploration. The environment, economy and even quality of human life have been greatly affected. This has created a lack of trust between the inhabitants and the oil companies, and even with the Nigerian government. Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) has been viewed in different ways by different school of thoughts; some see it has a voluntary initiative, while others think it s a main part of every company s structure and even an opportunity to improve brand. For this work, we would take the position of the later argument. It is simply giving back to the environment that you gain from. It involves protection of the environment, development of quality of the occupants of the environment and improving their quality of life. Like Barnard (1938), it is analyzing the social, economic, moral, legal and physical aspects of the environment. This project seeks to objectively analyze the activities of oil companies in this region. Shell, a major player in the oil industry of Nigeria received the spotlight. An extensive analysis of their CSR was done. This was achieved by comparing with different standards; notably the ISO26000. A review of the Nigerian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Examples Of Archetype In Beowulf Beowulf was an epic poem that embodied many of the themes of the time period that it was written. Many ideas such as the obsession was wealth, power, and fame are well documented throughout history. While Beowulf was certainly fiction, there is no reason that the unknown creator of the epic would not have taken elements from the surrounding culture to enrich the story. This theory would justify the recurring elements of masculine male warriors and a lack of women as anything other than wives or bargaining chips. It is no secret that women have not always been treated as equals, especially in a time where most societies were patriarchal. All of the ancient societies also tend to have their legends and heroes. • 10. Two Ways Which Cultural Influences May Contribute To The... I would tell her that not every woman bleeds during their first time having sex. The bleeding is dependent on the person. A woman s hymen could have been torn in some other way before her first time having sex. Additionally, vigorous play and tampon use can also lead to earlier bleeding and explain why a woman s hymen is already torn. All women are different, thus pain and bleeding occurring during every woman s first time having sex is different too. 2. Briefly explain at least two ways that cultural influences may contribute to the development of sexual dysfunctions among women. (1 point) In our culture, we tend to give more masculine names to a man s penis and dirty sounding names to a woman s vagina. This contributes to women feeling uncomfortable and degraded. The male genitalia names mostly reference power, while names for women genitalia mostly have negative connotations. This being said, I knew that there were parts of evolution that were undeniably true. I also thought that science usually pointed towards evidence of there being a God. I was never really a Young Earth Creationist. However, I still thought that Young Earth Creationists could be right because in my opinion, God is omnipotent, and the flood could have happened further back in history than estimated. The flood then could answer why the continents look the way they do today compared to pangea, and it could also answer some other geological problems with Young Earth Creationism. Although I thought it was still possible, I thought it extremely unlikely. Instead, I thought that the Earth was created much longer ago, but that God still created creatures in their own kinds , and that these kinds diverged into even more species by natural selection. I knew evolution could change a species a little bit at a time to the point where there would be two different species, but I wasn t sold on the whole idea that Evolution could cause a fish to become a human. Could you imagine the lack of safety standards during this time period? The non fictional story, Flesh and Blood So Cheap, by Albert Marrin, uses explicit and implicit evidence throughout the text to convey his theme about the unsafe conditions that resulted into the tragedy of the Triangle Fire. First of all, Marrin uses explicit ideas to inform readers about some of the events in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. The duty of caring for the child from the beginning of it s life until maturity, and the duty to see that the life of a fetus ends in itself and not by us, is the focus of Deontologists argument against abortion. We as humans are born with an instinct to continue our human race, in other words to care for our young so they can pass on the gift of life. It is written in the Ethics in Practice that ... and we have a duty to care (pg. 152), that duty carries on for our offspring. It is no surprise that we see even in the animal kingdom where parents sacrifice their lives for their offspring. Also, Hugh LaFollette writes, We owe things to those with whom we have special relationships such as our friends, colleagues, and family members... (pg 152) we owe the protection and love so we can continue our human race . One of the ethical bases in the healthcare field is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Filing Systems May Not Be Electronic Or Manual Filing systems may either be electronic or manual. An organisation will probably utilise a combination of both systems, choosing the most suitable arrangement for the data that is to be stored. Regardless of the type of system adopted, it should be effective and efficient, accessible, accurate, reliable and user friendly. In a school setting, both electronic and manual filing systems are used on a daily basis. To give an example; A manual filing system is used to store individual pupil s confidential information. Each pupil has their own file; this is filed alphabetically and held in a filing cabinet in the school office. The child s file contains confidential information such as date of birth, address, family history and medical details. This filing cabinet is kept locked at all times to ensure that children s information is protected and respected and only available for viewing by authorised staff. An electronic filing system is used to record the school s financial transactions. This is a very thorough and rigorous method for storing such important details. The system generates orders; payments and reports that enable the head teacher and school business manager to monitor spend and control budgets. This system is only accessible to the school business manager and access is protected by a password. Filing systems may be used to store information that is readily available to anyone to browse, such as telephone numbers of schools within the local education authority. ... Having dealt with this myself, I know that it can majorly deteriorate the mental health of the sufferer. It starts out as feeling slightly fatigued and wanting to sleep more, and increases at a rapid rate to sometimes severe side effects, like suicidal thoughts or actions. Other symptoms and signs to look for are a weight gain, loss of interest, tiredness, difficulty concentrating and staying on task, and thoughts of hopelessness and worry (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2017). In the cases of SAD in the summer, symptoms are generally the opposite. Things to pay attention to in the summer are troubles sleeping, weight loss, anxiety and restlessness (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2017).
