Personality Change In Macbeth
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth , the title character undergoes a serious personality change. At
the plays beginning Macbeth is a loyal and honorable man who, unfortunately, is immensely
ambitious. As the play progresses however, Macbeth begins to lose the honor that he held onto so
dearly. Macbeths descent into dishonor is displayed in the two most prominent murders in the first
3 acts: the slaying of Duncan and the assassination of Banquo. When Lady Macbethis convincing
her husband to murderthe king, the reader is able to detect his hesitation to commit such a heinous
crime. Also, the remorse Macbeth feels after he murders Duncan proves that he still possesses
some of that honor and loyalty he originally held in such high regard. However, when Macbeth
has Banquo killed he has changed into a cold and evil man. He, Macbeth, no longer clings to his
honor and loyalty. In Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Macbeth`s has a personality shift that is
showcased in the murders of King Duncan and Banquo. Macbeth is originally depicted as an
honorable and loyal man. However his ambition and his wife lead him to do things he would never
dream of without those influences. The hesitation that Macbeth shows when thinking about
murdering Duncan proves that he started out as an honorable man: I have no spur/ To prick the
sides of my intent, but only/ Vaulting ambition (pg. 40 ll 25 27). Without the prodding of his wife,
Macbeth never would have committed the murder of King Duncan.

The Four Ws Of Power In Shakespeare s Tempest
The Four W s of Power
Power is an incredibly complicated, yet simple mechanism people take advantage of, and it
essentially defines every interaction between anyone. None of it is simple to understand, and
both power and control can be expressed in vastly different ways. The four W s are the four most
common ways power is demonstrated or obtained, and there are real world examples, and even
examples in Shakespeare s Tempest that demonstrate these W s being used. Now what are the four
W s?
The first W is to control when an interaction begins. The person who begins an interaction
demonstrates that they are in charge. In Shakespeare s Tempest, this is demonstrated incredibly
obviously in the conversations between Prospero, and Ariel, Prospero s spiritual servant. Come
away, servant, come. I am ready now. Approach my Ariel. Come. (Shakespeare, Act 1, Sc. 2, Line
222 223). Almost every single time Ariel appears in the play, he is being summoned. This shows
Prospero s power over Ariel by showing that he can begin the interaction whenever he wants.
Another potential way this could demonstrate power is if the conversation is hesitated. If no words
are being said and if no action is being done, it is the person that is most comfortable in this silence
and stillness that demonstrates power.
The next of the four W s is who. Controlling who someone has power over is just as, if not more
important to maintaining control as any of the other 3 points. In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prosperous

Why Do Low Blood Glucose Levels
Scenario: Low blood glucose levels
A person is doing the 40 hour famine. This is when the person cannot eat for 48 hours to raise
money for World Vision. When a person does not eat for 48 hours they are not ingesting any
glucose from food so there will be a deficiency of blood glucose levels. Blood glucose levels are
monitored by the islets of Langerhans. Low blood glucose levels are sensed by the alpha cells in
the islets so during the 40 hour famine when blood sugars fall below 5mM, alpha cells sense this
and release the polypeptide hormone glucagon. Glucagon raises blood glucose levels in a way that
is antagonistic to insulin. Its effect is to increase blood glucose levels and its effect is most
powerful when insulin levels in the blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Type 1 or early onset diabetes is an auto immune disease in which the immune system attacks and
destroys the body s own beta cells.
In type 1 diabetes the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin producing beta cells in the
islets of Langerhans. The body is believed to do this because of some unfortunate genetic coding.
All people have particular HLA (human leukocyte antigen) complexes, but scientists have found
that diabetes is likely to develop in people who have a specific HLA complex. The purpose of this
complex is to trigger an immune response in the body. When the body gets an infection the immune
system produces antibodies to fight it. In charge of making these antibodies are T cells. If the
infection has similar antigens (something recognized by the immune system as a threat) as beta
cells, the T cells can turn against the beta cells and begin destroying them. This destruction happens
over several years, though disease symptoms appear quite quickly.
Without beta cells obviously the body cannot produce insulin in response to high blood glucose,
causing type 1 diabetics to have abnormally high blood sugar

Was Raleigh Tate Justified In The Trial
Sheriff Tate accidentally stole Arthur s right to be legally protected. Sheriff Tate might not have
been the best sheriff for Maycomb. He lies, tampers with evidence, and bends the law. He also lets
his emotions control his actions and doesn t think things thoroughly. The death of Bob Ewell was
justified because he has done some horrible things.
Sheriff Tate might have some of the traits and qualities of a good sheriff. However, would a
good sheriff lie, bend the law, or tamper with evidence. When Mayella claimed she was sexually
abused Sheriff Tate didn t take her to see a doctor. He claimed No sir when Atticus asked But
you didn t call a doctor? While you were there did anyone send for one, fetch one, carry her to
one? (224). Mayella could ve been hurt and they could ve had more evidence, but instead he
decided not to get her a doctor. Sheriff Tate also tampered with evidence when Bob Ewell was

American Airlines Airplane Crash
The first flight to be reviewed is United Airlines flight 173, that left from JFK Airport, N.Y. on
December 28th, 1978. Its destination was Portland, Oregon, but had one stop in Denver,
Colorado along the route. The aircraft type was a DC 8 and that day had onboard one hundred
and eighty nine passengers, 6 infants and eight crewmembers. The start of the flight was without
incident, and it was documented that the fuel required to get to Portland was 31,900 lbs., on
departing out of Denver they had 46,700 lbs. of fuel onboard. Again, they departed in route to
Oregon with no incident until a flight attendant and some passengers states they heard a loud noise
and felt a big jolt upon the landing gear being lowered. The captain notified the tower of a possible

Not enough fuel was burned so the captain requested an additional twenty minutes while the flight
attendants prepped the cabin for an emergency landing and evacuation of the aircraft. During the
communication of the cockpit crew it seemed that the flight engineer and first flight attendant tried
to communicate things with the captain, in regards to the fuel, cabin, or landing gear, they heard
it but were not really listening. With the captain focusing mainly on the landing gear scenario, the
issue of the fuel and needing to land was not an important factor in his mind at that time. The
aircraft then started to lose engines due to the starvation of fuel, after the number three engine
went out the captain decided to attempt to land the aircraft. Unfortunately, they did not make it to
the airport, it crashed into a suburban wooded area of Portland. There was no fire, and not only
was the aircraft totally destroyed, homes and power lines were also. The crash site was 130 feet
wide and 1,554 feet long, two crewmembers and eight passengers died, the rest suffered serious and

The Mobile Phone Industry, Like The Internet
Sprint Nextel Merger Introduction: The mobile phone industry, like the Internet, is one of the
fastest and ever developing industries. Since 1994, the production of cell phones has increased
from 24 million to 182 million in wireless phone. The market of cell phones in the United States is
constantly increasing and the 162 million users will increase in the next few years. . This
tremendous increase is due to the current and ongoing development of technology and innovation in
perfecting the cell phone. Throughout the history of the mobile phone industries collaborate with
each other in order to stay successful in this fast changing field. Worldwide wireless companies
have been cooperating with each other. This collaboration is due to a lot of reasons that all relate to
the firm s attempts to stay profitable. Wireless companies have the opportunity to get market shares
for both products and accessories. When these companies merge they can then share their markets
and products and offer a good service to its customers. Without working together smaller wireless
companies at times fall victim to the strong competitions and they will eventually become bankrupt
and forced to shut down. Therefore, collaboration is necessary within the cell phone industry to
maintain profits and increase customer base. One of the ways that cell phone companies maintain
profits and increase customer base is through merger or acquisition with other companies to share
new technologies for

Compare And Contrast Texas Constitution And Us Constitution
The word constitution means fundamental law, law determining the fundamental political
principles of a government. The U.S Constitution is the fundamental law for the United States,
which means the Texas Constitution the fundamental law for the state of Texas. Most constitutions
for the states are back up by the U.S Constitution, which means the two constitutions have
similarities and differences.
First, Texas constitution was written in 1827 and was rewritten six times until the Texas
constitution of 1876 was passed down. There are many similarities and differences when comparing
and contrasting the constitutions of Texas and New York constitutions. Examining the
characteristics of the constitutions can help identify the similarities and differences between them.

Addition, the Texas constitution and New York constitution have similarities and difference. One
of the main similarities is the Bill of Right. This is a formal summary of the rights and liberties

The debate of Physician Assisted Suicide
Over the years the medical field has developed many miraculous ideas and procedures. From
organ transfers to blood transfusions, tons of lives have been saved. A doctor s whole purpose is
to help those dying to live. Yet, doctors have developed PAS, Physician Assisted Suicide, also
known as Physician Assisted Death, and not to be mixed up with Euthanasia. Physician Assisted
Suicideis morally wrong, gives doctors too much power, and it opens a door for those less critical
patients to receive treatment too.
He started at a time when it was hardly talked about and got people thinking about the issue. (Philip
Nitschke, Exit International) The debate of Physician Assisted Suicide has been going on since over
2000 years ago during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If anyone can ask for assisted suicide, then that means that the doctor could make the decision to
give anyone who asks for the treatment the lethal dosage of drugs. This could lead to the idea that
anyone who wants to commit suicide doesn t have to make the decision for themselves. If they ask
a power hungry doctor for their opinion, then it could lead to a death, when there could have been
an intervention.
Assisting in taking a life is unmoral. There are so many people just so broken and hurting that
they think suicide is the answer. It s not easy to overcome either. It s like an anchor that pulls
you into the darkness, and just keeps pulling you deeper and deeper. No matter how much you
fight, pull, scream, and cry, you can t get free. It s a feeling of total emptiness and worthlessness.
Even once you re over it, the thought still pops up, and it s a continuous fight. But, with love and
hope, suicide can be overcome, for, in the bible it says that, through Christ we are over comers, and
his love is above all else.
Finally, there has been questioning of whether or not critically ill patients should be allowed to be
physician assisted in committing suicide. They are miserable, and seemingly becoming a shell of
the person they used to be. Wanting to end life because you re not the person you used to be is
understandable in most eyes. Then, there is the idea that people have the right to die

Morality and Character of King Henry V Essay examples
Morality of King Henry V Throughout the five act in the play King Henry the V, King Henry
shows his morality and character through many actions and decisions. King Henry is the most
significant characte1r in the play and is known as the protagonist or hero. Henry uses his
intelligence and leadership qualities through out the acts and also displays a sense of maturity
from his youth days. We are told in the beginning of the play that King Henry used to be very
immature, crazy, and not determined as a teenage boy. King Henry is now developed into a
successful and hard working king with lots of charisma. Henry has many tough decisions ahead
and uses his brilliant mind to do whatever he needs to do to receive the goal. King Henry displays...

As we read in the play, King Henry has many speeches that were made to determine his English
soldiers. For example, Henry refers to his soldiers as more closely impacted names like brother
and friend. Henry speaks very sophisticated and pumps up his men to be just as eager to fight as
he was. Most of Henry s speeches were uplifting and had a very happy and fierce tone to them, so
not only he would display seriousness and also uplifting attitudes. Henry s speeches work magic
on his soldiers and is a type of manipulation to work with the King to get what he wants. Even
though manipulation is usually a harsh term, it is needed when it comes to fighting in a war!
King Henry used his words very intelligently to push on the soldiers to fight for their mighty
King Henry. One of the last qualities about King Henry that supports his morality was his
intelligence. Through out the play King Henry had many big decisions whether it be to go to
war, who to bring, when to go, and all these other conflicts. I believe that Henry used his
intelligence in many positive ways. When King Henry was about to bring his troops in to fight
France, he borrowed a cloak and dressed up as a soldier. I thought this was a very intelligent thing
to do because he talked to the soldiers to find out what they were thinking and what was going
through their mind. This was a very smart strategy because normally the soldiers wouldn t speak to
the king like they would to each other. Instead of the lies and

Ralph Waldo Emerson s Ideology Of Self Identity
In the essay, Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson s ideology of self identity is impractical today
because the media has hindered society from developing our true identities. The use of social
media is ruining this generation s real life social skills. According to Social Media Today, an
online community for professionals, The amount of time people spend on social media is
constantly increasing. Teens now spend up to nine hours a day on social platforms, while 30%
of all time spent online is now allocated to social media interaction. Texting or online
communications does not allow people to truly express themselves for who they truly are. There
is a loss of social and personal development communicating through social media. For instance,
people online are unable to use body language, tone, voice and facial expressions through a text.
An article on The Telegraph, pointed out that One in four people spend more time socialising
online, using sites such as Facebook, than they do in person, according to research. The study
also found that even when there is an opportunity to see people face to face, on weekends for
example, up to 11% of adults still prefer to stay at home and communicate on their devices
instead. (USA Today). The problem with socialising online is that affects a person s ability to
communicate properly in face to face interactions. The person will feel a sense of social anxiety
and not project their voice loud enough for their audience to hear them. For

Confessionalist Characteristics Of Allen Ginsberg And The...
Beat Generation Research Paper During the 1950s, many different literary movements came to the
spotlight. Two such movements were Confessionalism and Beat poetry. There are many
commonalities between these movements, and often, authors and works from the Beat movement
incorporate various Confessionalist characteristics. Allen Ginsberg, one such author, combined both
Confessionalism and Beat poetryin a variety of his works, including Howland Kaddish. The
Confessionalist aspects of Allen Ginsberg and his works, such as Howl, were heavily outweighed
by the Beat aspects in his work. The Beat poetry movement began in the 1950s due to the tense

In addition to adopting peaceful religions, such as Buddhism, Beat poets attempted to connect with
their spiritual state of being by engaging in drug usage and meditating.
To distinguish themselves in literature, they picked at the flaws they perceived in romanticism,
modernist poetry, and the New Criticism. They abandoned the typical form and structure of
formalist poetry. Instead, they commonly followed the footsteps of Walt Whitman and his free
verse. The free verse allowed them to sync their words with a musical flow, especially that of jazz.
In addition to free verse, the Beat poetry contained unregulated self expression. The Beats believed
that true emotions were expressed in the moment, and often would not edit their works. They also
openly discussed sexual experimentation, specifically that directed to the gay culture. Beats also
wrote about their usage of drugs, and its ability to help perceive the truth. Their work portrayed a
belief that the arts transcended mortality.
Allen Ginsberg was born on June 3, 1926 to a schizophrenic mother. His experience with his
mother heavily affected him, as evident in his portrayal of mental illness in much of his work.
Considered one of the founders of Beat poetry, Ginsberg brought attention to the movement with his
performance of his poem Howl. Howl reflected the free verse and jazz components common to the
movement. It also reflected Jack Kerouac and the Old

Budgeting In Healthcare
Within the health care field, planning and budgeting is a requirement to have a successful
business. Budgeting can be defined as the creation and use of financial forecasts to plan for and
control business s operations. (Gapenski, 2013). In other words budgeting is planning your finances
based on how much money you have or make. Within organizations there are different types of
budgettypes such as revenue budgets, expense budget, and operating budget. Revenue Budgets
within the health care field are defined as the listing of expected revenues of an organization
usually on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. (Gapenski, 2013). Therefore being said within
this timeframe it is required for all budgets to be documented, data pulled, and

Julius Ceasar
Shakespeare presents Cassiu s character as complex character, torn, on the one hand between
his loyalty and love for a childhood friend and his true patriotism for his country, Rome, on the

who would sop at nothing to fulfill his ambitions and his megalomaniacal lust for power.

What Is The Theme Of Honesty In Chaucer s Relatable Works
Regardless of the theme or style of a writer s work, a main goal when writing is to make a
memorable impact in the readers life. This is done by making the themes as relatable as possible,
as people respond well with what they can relate to. The relatability of a work arises from the
amount of honesty and sincerity present in the work. An example of an author who creates
relatable works is Geoffrey Chaucer, his writing, exemplified in The Canterbury Tales, is unbiased
and honest, creating an approachable text for any reader. Chaucer is also excellent at making The
Canterbury Tales relatable to everyone by giving his themes faces. Chaucer personifies tales themes
through their respective tellers by describing the tellers in an unbiased way... Show more content on

The wife of Bath s tale poses one question, what is the thing that women most desire? (282). This
question is later answered; A woman wants the self same sovereignty over her husband as over
her lover, and master him; he must not be above her, 286). This corresponds with the wife s
history and beliefs as shown her previously mentioned incident with her fifth husband. The wife
was only pleased when she won the power struggle. Applying this theme of a control seeking
woman to an actual character in the story as opposed to only a tale within a tale gives it more
truth, making the idea more personable and realistic. This allows the reader to fully comprehend
the concept. The wife s tale also states, cut short the lives of those who won t be governed by
their wives, (292). This quotation further supports the connection between the wife and her tale,
as this is a statement the wife would strongly believe in. When the reader is faced with a person
with a belief instead of being exposed only to the belief itself, the reader is more likely to accept
the idea as valid and genuine. It is easier to accept an idea when it is supported than an idea by

Uncontrolled Driving Technology
Drifting off to sleep while driving can lead to a vehicle drifting off the road. An uncontrolled
moving vehicle is dangerous and can cause fatalities, injuries, property damage, as well as legal
problems. Staying alert and awake is crucial while driving. Rolling down the car windows
creates wind in the vehicle and can keep drivers from drifting to sleep. Passengers or hands free
devices can allow the driver to maintain an alert state of mind by engaging in conversations.
Drivers of cars or trucks sometimes find caffeine helpful to stay awake. None of these are
guaranteed to prevent falling asleep behind the wheel, and if it is possible the safest solution
would be to not drive until you are fully alert and able to give drivingthe focus needed.... Show

Impossible is an almost irrelevant word when creativity, determination, and technology are
combined with a common goal. Recent attempts to apply technical advances to preventing and
identifying accidents due to falling asleep while driving have shown promise, but have not been
able to go further than prototypes. Cameras are able to record eye movements such as frequency
and duration of blinks as well as the space between the lids of the eye. This can be used to
indicate the level of alertness (R. Schleicher, 2008). The science is in place to make advances to
an in car alert system for drivers, but it would be unlikely to see it on the market in the very near
future. Concerns from researchers noted that the signal would not be effective because the
device would not pick up on the fatigue of the driver until after the eyes were showing signs of
microsleep (lids staying closed for more than five seconds) and this would likely be too late. (R.
Schleicher, 2008) In addition, the cost of implementing a device is not one the car manufacturers
are going to want to pay for. Liability and privacy are more factors that I believe will prevent a
safety gadget of this type from being readily available to

Cultural Revolution Of The 1920s Essay
The 1920 s were times of cultural revolution. The times were changing in many different ways.
Whenever the times change, there is a clash between the quot;old quot; and the quot;new quot;
generations. The 1920 s were no exception. In Dayton, Tennessee, 1925, a high school biology
teacher was arrested. He was arrested because he taught the theory of evolution. The teacher, John
T. Scopes, was accused of having violated the Butler Act. This was a Tennessee law that forbade
the teaching of the theory of evolution in public schools. The Tennessee legislature felt that
teaching evolution was wrong because it contradicted the creation theory of the Bible. The Scopes
trial received worldwide publicity. The press nicknamed it the Monkey Trial... Show more content

U. S. Attorney General Palmer planned a round up of communists. January 2, 1920, he ordered
department raids on meeting halls and homes in thirty cities nationwide to gather all suspected
communists. Twenty seven hundred people were arrested without being charged with a specific
crime. In all, more than 6,000 people were arrested. The raids ended after May 5th. This was due
to a government ruling that mere membership in the party is not in itself a crime. Most people that
were arrested were released, few of the people arrested were actually communists. The Red Scare
continued when on April 1, five legitimately elected members of the New York State legislature
were expelled for being members of the Socialist Party. World War I ended in 1920 with the
signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Russia and the United States were allies during the war. After
the war, both became the world s new superpowers. As the tension between the two nations grew,
so did the fear of Communism. The Ku Klux Klan was a racist organization founded in 1915 by
William Simmons. The KKK s popularity peaked in the 1920 s when its membership exceeded 4

began to persecute Roman Catholics, Jews, foreigners, Communists, and organized labor. Stressing
white Protestant domination, the Klan enjoyed a spurt of growth in 1928 as a reaction to the

Joseph Campbell Monomyth
Myths and stories about great heroes serve to let people realize the hero potential that they have in
themselves. It has always been the prime function of mythology and rite to supply the symbols that
carry the human spirit forward, in counteraction to those that tend to tie it back. (Campbell, The
Herowith a Thousand Faces) Joseph Campbell, an American mythologist, developed the idea of
monomyth, which is the theory that all myths are variations of the same story. He believed that
everyone has the potential to be a hero, and that heroes all follow the same journey described in
the monomyth theory. The idea of monomyth states that no matter what time period, the journey
for a hero will be very similar. Campbell s theory can be seen in traditional myths, such as the
Anglo Saxon tale of Beowulf, and also in the lives of contemporary heroes such as Martin Luther
King Jr. Beowulf and Martin Luther King Jr. both fit the profile for a hero and their journey is laid
out similarly to the monomyth steps of departure, initiation and the return.
The departure phase of monomyth is the starting point to a hero s story, it is the key moment when

Self Destruction Of Cocaine Essay
self destruction
By kevin j. pillard
With $85 billion in the worldwide sales, and 21 million users, cocaine is still one of the top
drugs of choice for many Americans. Even though the US market has fallen from the 1980 s
crazy, $134 billion in market sales, to the lowly $35 billion in sales in 2008, Americas thrust for
THAT COCA is still a major issue for the communities and societies as a whole, in 2015. In this
paper, I am going to take you on my journey and experiences with the cocaine epidemic of the 80 s,
90 s, and all the way to the year 2015.
I think it s best to start with one of the thousands, of City, County, State, and Federal agencies,
that as of today will be spending $23 billion this year to fight the war on drugs.(MAP INC.) The
DEA which has a budget of 2.88 billion in 2015, is the one agency that only focuses on illegal
federal drug laws, which are the harshest in the country.

called THE WAR ON DRUGS. For this amount of money spent and 2.3 million men, and women,

My Favorite Types Of Poetry
If you have ever read a book or listened to music, you have probably experienced poetry. Poetry is a
literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use
of distinctive style and rhythm. There are many types of poetry and each has its own effect on the
words. There are over fifty types of poetry. Poetry is categorized by the number of lines in the
poem, the words in the poem, whether it rhymes or not, and what it is about. Some types of
poetry examples include haiku, free verse, sonnets, and name poems, although there are many
more types as well (Oxford living dictionaries ).People usually use the types of poetry they like
best. I will tell you a little bit about a few types of poetry that are my favorite.
Out of all the types of poetry, my most favorite type is a haiku. Haikus are poems consisting of
three lines. The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line
has five syllables. Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry (Kidzone Poetry). Haikus are
usually used as a focus on nature. Traditionally, they are in the present tense and focused on
associations between images. Being so short, a haiku is open about its purpose. This type of poem
may be short, but used in the correct way, it can be very powerful to get a message across.

The second type of poetry I most favor is a sonnet. Sonnets are longer poems that consist of
fourteen lines. When writing a sonnet, you will

Race, Class, And Identity
I attended the panel on Friday, October 23rd. Discussion at the event centered around race, class,
and identity. The introduction mentioned the tragic event in Charleston and that they decided to do
the seminars that weekend in order to talk about these issues now rather than wait for something to
happen like Charleston s incident. The whole purpose of this discussion was to determine how we
can start changing how raceand class is identified and judged in our community. One suggested
way to start encouraging more acceptance and understanding is through creating spaces for
genuine dialogue. There are facades of these safe spaces; these places are politically correct on the
outside, but they contain ill will on the inside. To fix that, panel members recommended truly
talking and truly listening. Having honest discussions is key to making people more sympathetic to
others as well as important to opening up the floor to differing opinions. To have these discussions,
vulnerability must be present; everyone must be willing to step out of their comfort zones. These
talks will help stop the fear and aggression in communities.
While all of that sounds lovely and very productive to shedding light on issues, I m not sure how
that would work well. It s easy for us, at a Christian university with a very privileged majority, to
openly talk about our opinions and struggles. Spreading out into a community and trying to get
honest thoughts on any issue is like pulling teeth. Even if we

The Unity Of Early Greece
The unity of early Greece was dissolved when powerful city states Athens and Sparta became
immersed in a war, known as, the Peloponnesian War. The war began when Sparta led its alliance,
the Peloponnesian League, against Athens to test its seemingly imperialistic design. The league
consisted of Sparta, Thebes, and Corinth. Thucydides, an Athenian historian, philosopher, and
general is credited for much of what is known about the Peloponnesian War. Throughout the war he
kept an accurately detailed description of the events taking place. He published it titled History of
the Peloponnesian War with the intent for future generations to be able to understand how and why
the war came about. (Carr)

Its prosperity increased when it was offered leadership of the Delian League in recognition of its
high performance in the Persian War. The Delian League served as a defensive organization to
protect Greece from future attacks. It collected money from its participating members to be stored
in the treasury on the island of Delos. Athens dictated the amount of contributions from each
member and distributed the funds. (Gill) However, suspicions of Athens abuse of power soon began
to rise. Other cities believed Athens primary goal was to strengthen itself rather than to protect the
overall interests of Greece. The transfer of the Delian League s funds from Delos to Athens
confirmed the suspicions of its selfish intentions. With the Delian League morphing into the
Athenian Empire, the peace treaty was nulled and the Peloponnesian War began.
The causes of the Peloponnesian War have often been debated, but centralize around the same idea.
Thucydides, the Athenian historian, said, The real cause I consider to be the one which was
formally most kept out of sight. The growth of the power of Athens, and the alarm which this
inspired in Lacedaemon, made war inevitable. (Thucydides, 13) He believed that Athens
increasingly dominating power initiated Sparta and its counterparts to take action. The goal of the
Peloponnesian League was to prevent the independent city states

Man and Women Forced onto Children Disney princesses such as Cinderella, Ariel, and Jasmine,
and princes such as Prince Charming, Prince Eric, and Aladdin have become household names
throughout the years, especially to children in early childhood to adolescence and even some
older. Through watching these movies, children are beginning at an early age to picture what
men and women should ideally be. This report will focus on what Disney has portrayed as the
ideal man and woman through these princesses and princes, and how the stories and movies
affect children and even adults today. According to Commonsense Media, starting at age three, it
is acceptable for little girls and boys to start viewing some Disney movies (Thompson) During
this fragile time when children are trying to piece together what the world around them consists
of who they are, they look to their role models around them. To most the first role models are their

things they are figuring out and developing is their view on what is masculinity and femininity
and where do they fit into that mold. (Halim, Ruble and Tamis LeMonda) Along with this they are
also figuring what their life entails and who they should be when they grow up. The Middle

What Is The Theme Of The Morgue Scene
In ThГ©rГЁse Raquin, Г‰mile Zola uses specific scenes in order to convey and communicate
explicit concepts from which the reader can extrapolate key themes in the novel, and the Morgue
scene of Chapter XIII is an excellent example of this. Such scenes also offer a comprehensive
depiction of the times and the Morgue scene gives us a slice of Parisian life during the 19th
century. Across the span of this chapter, Zola s unflinching depiction of the morgue, the bodies
lying on the slabs, and most importantly, his meticulous illustration of those who visit the morgue
for titillation or other reasons, impose profound connotations of Parisian society in that period.
One of the reasons for such a realistically lifelike extract was Zola s deliberate effort... Show more

Zola regarded Manet as one of the masters of the future and defended him against harsh critics, as
he strongly believed in the way Manet expressed himself in his paintings. Manet s Olympia , in
particular, generated intense scandal due to its sexual connotations and many disapproved of the
painting. However, Manet s talent motivated Zola to include crude sexuality and painterly
technique in his writing. In truth, the theme of sexuality permeates the entire novel, even in the
Morgue scene; Zola s portrayal of the coarse primitiveness of human nature is again evident when
the gangs of kids come in stopping only by women s bodies to stare impudently at the naked
breasts . This is a perversely disturbing spectacle for youngsters to see, but Zola approaches it
matter of factly, commenting without irony that It is in the Morgue that young street urchins have
their first mistress . This graphic image of the exposed breasts creates an abhorrent atmosphere for
the reader, signifying an objectification of women during that time as this piece of writing can be
seen as patriarchal novel. Zola furthers this impression by describing the Morgue as a show that

and these two forms are seen as highly dangerous to the individuals that abuse it. Also, there are
several types of amphetamines which have been noted to be just as addictive and dangerous as
cocaine. In this paper I will briefly discuss the different forms of cocaine and amphetamines as well
as discuss the treatment options used for individuals with cocaine and amphetamineabuse.
According to Maisto, Galizio, Conners, (2011), there are two forms of cocaine that consist ... Show

Also, Methamphetamine brand name is Desoxyn and the slang names are speed, crank, ice, etc.
Methylphenidate brand name is Ritalin and Concerta and the slang name is Vitamin R. Lastly,
Methcarthinone, which is mostly used in Africa, slang name is cat (Drug use and abuse, 2011, p.
120). Even though medically used amphetamines are used to calm children diagnosed with
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), they are still considered to be an addictive and a
quite dangerous stimulant (Drug use and abuse, 2011, p. 120).
According to Emrick, Lassen, and Edwards (1977), the treatment options that are available for
individuals addicted to cocaine or amphetamines would consist of peer self help groups (Drug
use and abuse, 2011, p. 372). It was stated by Regier et al., (1993) that a national survey showed
over 1.5 million individuals in the United States using self help groups to overcome their drug
abuse (Drug use and abuse, 2011, p. 373). In the self help group, the individual must first be ready
or motivated to make the changes before attempting to join. There are also professional drug
rehabilitation facilities, but not all individuals are able to afford to attend those costly facilities.
In conclusion, the different forms of cocaine and different types of amphetamines are all considered
addictive and dangerous to our society. Even though, there are medicinal uses for cocaine and
amphetamines, there are side effects that can make life for the individuals

Significance Of Silence In Obasan
Writers often employ recurring events to show significance. In Joy Kogawa s, Obasan, a novel
about the Japanese persecution during World War 2, silence is used repeatedly to show
protection. The silence of events in the book serves as a portrayal of love and protection from
whatever it may be that is kept a secret. The silence in the novelshapes Naomi s life in that it leads
her to question the silence and suppress it.
First, a significant event takes place in Naomi s life in which she portrays silence. At the simple
age of 4 years old, Naomi is repeatedly raped by Old Man Gower. The next door neighbor, Old
Man Gower, begins to undress me. I do not resist. As an innocent child, Naomi keeps silent about
these events because she wants to protect her relationship with her mother; furthermore, Naomi
states, If I tell my mother about Mr. Gower, the alarm will send a tremor through our bodies and I
will be torn from her. In an attempt to keep the love and shelter her relationship, Naomi remains
quiet about these horrid incidents. At the young age of 4, Naomi learns to believe that silence will
guarantee no problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the family identifies as Canadian, they are only looked at as Japanese. After an air raid
drill at school a girl mentions to Stephen that all Japs will be gotten rid of and that he will be one
of them; consequently, Stephen asks his father about their origin and to this, Stephen s father
replies, No, We re Canadian. This statement of reassurance silences the forthcoming of the exile. It
keeps the kids calm and comforts them in that they will be okay. This silence is again used to
protect the kids from rude comments and thoughts of being removed. Although it has a good
intention, it doesn t stop the later exile of the

and Design of the Socio technical Aspects In this stage we integrate the work of Profession Enid
Mumford, who is known for her work on human factors and socio technical systems. The main
focus at this point is to identify alternatives, i.e. alternative social arrangements to meet social
objectives and alternative technical arrangements to meet technical objectives. Socio technical
alternatives are combined social and technical alternatives hence, the technical terminology. These
are categorised; initially, by their fulfilment of objectives and secondly by costs, resources and
constraints. This method identifies the most effective socio technical solution and the related role
sets, people tasks and computer tasks. The diagram represents the process of defining role sets,
people tasks, computer tasks and the accepted changes to the social system as defined through
ETHICS methods. The basis of the diagram is that of user acceptance and consideration; this stage
focuses on the people within the organisation, their needs and the working environment. This is
done in order to produce the most effective design to suit the company. Reference: [Analysis and

  • 2. Personality Change In Macbeth In William Shakespeare s Macbeth , the title character undergoes a serious personality change. At the plays beginning Macbeth is a loyal and honorable man who, unfortunately, is immensely ambitious. As the play progresses however, Macbeth begins to lose the honor that he held onto so dearly. Macbeths descent into dishonor is displayed in the two most prominent murders in the first 3 acts: the slaying of Duncan and the assassination of Banquo. When Lady Macbethis convincing her husband to murderthe king, the reader is able to detect his hesitation to commit such a heinous crime. Also, the remorse Macbeth feels after he murders Duncan proves that he still possesses some of that honor and loyalty he originally held in such high regard. However, when Macbeth has Banquo killed he has changed into a cold and evil man. He, Macbeth, no longer clings to his honor and loyalty. In Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Macbeth`s has a personality shift that is showcased in the murders of King Duncan and Banquo. Macbeth is originally depicted as an honorable and loyal man. However his ambition and his wife lead him to do things he would never dream of without those influences. The hesitation that Macbeth shows when thinking about murdering Duncan proves that he started out as an honorable man: I have no spur/ To prick the sides of my intent, but only/ Vaulting ambition (pg. 40 ll 25 27). Without the prodding of his wife, Macbeth never would have committed the murder of King Duncan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Four Ws Of Power In Shakespeare s Tempest The Four W s of Power Power is an incredibly complicated, yet simple mechanism people take advantage of, and it essentially defines every interaction between anyone. None of it is simple to understand, and both power and control can be expressed in vastly different ways. The four W s are the four most common ways power is demonstrated or obtained, and there are real world examples, and even examples in Shakespeare s Tempest that demonstrate these W s being used. Now what are the four W s? The first W is to control when an interaction begins. The person who begins an interaction demonstrates that they are in charge. In Shakespeare s Tempest, this is demonstrated incredibly obviously in the conversations between Prospero, and Ariel, Prospero s spiritual servant. Come away, servant, come. I am ready now. Approach my Ariel. Come. (Shakespeare, Act 1, Sc. 2, Line 222 223). Almost every single time Ariel appears in the play, he is being summoned. This shows Prospero s power over Ariel by showing that he can begin the interaction whenever he wants. Another potential way this could demonstrate power is if the conversation is hesitated. If no words are being said and if no action is being done, it is the person that is most comfortable in this silence and stillness that demonstrates power. The next of the four W s is who. Controlling who someone has power over is just as, if not more important to maintaining control as any of the other 3 points. In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prosperous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why Do Low Blood Glucose Levels Scenario: Low blood glucose levels A person is doing the 40 hour famine. This is when the person cannot eat for 48 hours to raise money for World Vision. When a person does not eat for 48 hours they are not ingesting any glucose from food so there will be a deficiency of blood glucose levels. Blood glucose levels are monitored by the islets of Langerhans. Low blood glucose levels are sensed by the alpha cells in the islets so during the 40 hour famine when blood sugars fall below 5mM, alpha cells sense this and release the polypeptide hormone glucagon. Glucagon raises blood glucose levels in a way that is antagonistic to insulin. Its effect is to increase blood glucose levels and its effect is most powerful when insulin levels in the blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Type 1 or early onset diabetes is an auto immune disease in which the immune system attacks and destroys the body s own beta cells. In type 1 diabetes the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin producing beta cells in the islets of Langerhans. The body is believed to do this because of some unfortunate genetic coding. All people have particular HLA (human leukocyte antigen) complexes, but scientists have found that diabetes is likely to develop in people who have a specific HLA complex. The purpose of this complex is to trigger an immune response in the body. When the body gets an infection the immune system produces antibodies to fight it. (Campbell, The Herowith a Thousand Faces) Joseph Campbell, an American mythologist, developed the idea of monomyth, which is the theory that all myths are variations of the same story. He believed that everyone has the potential to be a hero, and that heroes all follow the same journey described in the monomyth theory. The idea of monomyth states that no matter what time period, the journey for a hero will be very similar. Campbell s theory can be seen in traditional myths, such as the Anglo Saxon tale of Beowulf, and also in the lives of contemporary heroes such as Martin Luther King Jr. Beowulf and Martin Luther King Jr. both fit the profile for a hero and their journey is laid out similarly to the monomyth steps of departure, initiation and the return. The departure phase of monomyth is the starting point to a hero s story, it is the key moment when he or she is taken out of their own familiar world. Even though the US market has fallen from the 1980 s crazy, $134 billion in market sales, to the lowly $35 billion in sales in 2008, Americas thrust for THAT COCA is still a major issue for the communities and societies as a whole, in 2015. In this paper, I am going to take you on my journey and experiences with the cocaine epidemic of the 80 s, 90 s, and all the way to the year 2015. I think it s best to start with one of the thousands, of City, County, State, and Federal agencies, that as of today will be spending $23 billion this year to fight the war on drugs.(MAP INC.) The DEA which has a budget of 2.88 billion in 2015, is the one agency that only focuses on illegal federal drug laws, which are the harshest in the country. Poetry is a literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm. There are many types of poetry and each has its own effect on the words. There are over fifty types of poetry. Poetry is categorized by the number of lines in the poem, the words in the poem, whether it rhymes or not, and what it is about. Some types of poetry examples include haiku, free verse, sonnets, and name poems, although there are many more types as well (Oxford living dictionaries ).People usually use the types of poetry they like best. I will tell you a little bit about a few types of poetry that are my favorite. Out of all the types of poetry, my most favorite type is a haiku. Haikus are poems consisting of three lines. The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables. Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry (Kidzone Poetry). Haikus are usually used as a focus on nature. Traditionally, they are in the present tense and focused on associations between images. Being so short, a haiku is open about its purpose. This type of poem may be short, but used in the correct way, it can be very powerful to get a message across. • 31. Race, Class, And Identity I attended the panel on Friday, October 23rd. Discussion at the event centered around race, class, and identity. The introduction mentioned the tragic event in Charleston and that they decided to do the seminars that weekend in order to talk about these issues now rather than wait for something to happen like Charleston s incident. The whole purpose of this discussion was to determine how we can start changing how raceand class is identified and judged in our community. One suggested way to start encouraging more acceptance and understanding is through creating spaces for genuine dialogue. There are facades of these safe spaces; these places are politically correct on the outside, but they contain ill will on the inside. To fix that, panel members recommended truly talking and truly listening. Having honest discussions is key to making people more sympathetic to others as well as important to opening up the floor to differing opinions. To have these discussions, vulnerability must be present; everyone must be willing to step out of their comfort zones. These talks will help stop the fear and aggression in communities. While all of that sounds lovely and very productive to shedding light on issues, I m not sure how that would work well. It s easy for us, at a Christian university with a very privileged majority, to openly talk about our opinions and struggles. Spreading out into a community and trying to get honest thoughts on any issue is like pulling teeth. Even if we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The war began when Sparta led its alliance, the Peloponnesian League, against Athens to test its seemingly imperialistic design. The league consisted of Sparta, Thebes, and Corinth. Thucydides, an Athenian historian, philosopher, and general is credited for much of what is known about the Peloponnesian War. Throughout the war he kept an accurately detailed description of the events taking place. He published it titled History of the Peloponnesian War with the intent for future generations to be able to understand how and why the war came about. Its prosperity increased when it was offered leadership of the Delian League in recognition of its high performance in the Persian War. The Delian League served as a defensive organization to protect Greece from future attacks. It collected money from its participating members to be stored in the treasury on the island of Delos. Athens dictated the amount of contributions from each member and distributed the funds. (Gill) However, suspicions of Athens abuse of power soon began to rise. Other cities believed Athens primary goal was to strengthen itself rather than to protect the overall interests of Greece. The transfer of the Delian League s funds from Delos to Athens confirmed the suspicions of its selfish intentions. With the Delian League morphing into the Athenian Empire, the peace treaty was nulled and the Peloponnesian War began. The causes of the Peloponnesian War have often been debated, but centralize around the same idea. Thucydides, the Athenian historian, said, The real cause I consider to be the one which was formally most kept out of sight. The growth of the power of Athens, and the alarm which this inspired in Lacedaemon, made war inevitable. What Is The Theme Of The Morgue Scene In ThГ©rГЁse Raquin, Г‰mile Zola uses specific scenes in order to convey and communicate explicit concepts from which the reader can extrapolate key themes in the novel, and the Morgue scene of Chapter XIII is an excellent example of this. Such scenes also offer a comprehensive depiction of the times and the Morgue scene gives us a slice of Parisian life during the 19th century. Across the span of this chapter, Zola s unflinching depiction of the morgue, the bodies lying on the slabs, and most importantly, his meticulous illustration of those who visit the morgue for titillation or other reasons, impose profound connotations of Parisian society in that period. However, Manet s talent motivated Zola to include crude sexuality and painterly technique in his writing. In truth, the theme of sexuality permeates the entire novel, even in the Morgue scene; Zola s portrayal of the coarse primitiveness of human nature is again evident when the gangs of kids come in stopping only by women s bodies to stare impudently at the naked breasts . This is a perversely disturbing spectacle for youngsters to see, but Zola approaches it matter of factly, commenting without irony that It is in the Morgue that young street urchins have their first mistress .
