King Arthur Joerenson Quest
The day was bright and cheerful in the town of. Taor Raorenson a lonely peasant who work for
meager pay and dog food was about to have his world change. There was a ball being held and the
king was inviting folk from all around. Taor Raorenson being a peasant was not invited to the grand
ball. The king a short pompous man, with a long flowing beard, was getting dressed for the ball, when
a night messenger came to the castle with important letter, It reads.

Their match did not take that long. Sir William of Wykeham had Sir Simon de Montfort finished in a
mere matter of minutes. The next Knights to fight were Edmund Cartwright and Letholdus both were
very great noble fellows. They had a great showdown, it was one swing after the other, Letholdus
ended up winning in the end, because he had more skills. The next fight was between Gorvenal of
Wintershed and Charles the Bald. Now this was an interesting match because as they began to fight
the sky got emerald green, and a mysterious figure covered in shiny gold armor, He interrupts the
match and invites himself into the battle. People were asking around who is this knight and where is
he from. The Lord Montagu is shock and he motions for his royal advisor and asks what he should do
about this mysterious gold knight. Rownan the squire and him have a long talk and come to
consensus, that the gold Knight will be allowed to fight. The gold knight had more strength than any
of the knights. He defeated all the knights and won the

Dogs On Deployment Analysis
Dogs on Deployment, (DoD), is a service that was established in 2011 by a husband and wife, Shawn
and Alisa Johnson, who were both active military. Being a dual military family, they recognized the
need for a service such as DoD; Alisa was ordered to Virginia for training when Shawn was on
deployment, which meant neither of them could be responsible for their dog. Luckily, they were
fortunate enough to have family member to take on the responsibility of their dog while they were
away. The couple understood that are many military families that find themselves in the same
situation. Therefore, Dogs on Deployment was conceived.

Altitude Sickness Essay
A perception of mountain people, who are often denigrated and ostracized for their dissimilarities
compared to the more modern civilizations, is that they lack cultural progressiveness and in most
cases are running backwards from the growing economic and social municipalities of the world. For
one thing, mountain people live in high altitudes that lack the necessary infrastructure for development
and most importantly, they live away from capitals and major cities. Therefore, they are isolated from
their capital s political and economic affairs. Due to this isolation, most mountain people presume that
their nation s government is a part of a separate entity that has no relation to them. In other words,
they believe that the government is selfish and doesn t care about their needs for survival, therefore
they must flourish on their own. Therefore, the mountain people adhere to their own cultural and
traditional ways of life and in most cases are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one main aspect that connects the mountain people together, although many express cultural and
religious heterogeneity, is the fact that they are located in the danger zones of most political
boundaries, sitting right in between two superior powers. These potent powers then interfere with
mountain people s cultural and traditional ideas in order to benefit their own nation. In his article,
Altitude Sickness, S. Fredrick Starr states that, People who actually live in [high mountain zones] are
all too often [exposed to] spiraling violence due to issues with political and even local boundaries
(Starr 1). Frederick mentions the struggles taking place in Nepal s mountains is partly because both
China and India are inputting their own voices in the country s affairs, and are eradicating Nepal s
own voice and ideas. This instance is just one of many cases that occur in mountainous

Determinant Of Health Essay
Inequality is a key determinant of health status in populations Discuss this statement.
The definition of health is an abstract concept (Earle et al, 2007). According to The World Health
Organisation health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well being, and not
merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO constitution, 1946). The WHO definition of health
has regularly been scrutinised due to lack of mention of sexual, emotional, and spiritual health. People
define health differently throughout their lives e.g a child may define being healthy as the ability to
attend school, the elderly define health more in the terms of being able to look after yourself and
declining health as an inevitable part of aging (Lawton, 2003). Inequality the focus of my essay is
defined as the difference is size, degree or circumstance (Google,2017). I aim to discuss a range of
different social determinants of health, the social gradient scale and how the degree of inequity and
inequality varies within populations within and between countries.
Inequalities within different populations which affect health status has been a government agenda
since the 1970 s resulting with the publication of The Black Report 1980 and Sir Michael Marmot s
global commission on the social determinates of health report 2008. Government estimates ... Show

Emily Dickinson Punctuation

Dickinson s Riddle
Emily Dickinson died before her works were attempted to be analyzed and interpreted, suggesting
perhaps that the mysteries, abstractions, and double meanings were for her own enjoyment, and all
answers if there were any died with her ( Explanation ). Glimpsing at just a few of Dickinson s poems
is sure to catch the eye of a reader, posing questions of grammatical soundness. Capital letters, dots,
and dashes appear consistently, but maybe there is a reason behind it all. Emily Dickinson uses
punctuation in a non traditional way throughout her poems, contributing to the effect and meaning of
her works, such as My Life had stooda Loaded Gun, After great pain, a formal feeling comes,
and Wild NightsWild Nights!
Emily Dickinson employs commonly used punctuation marks in an uncommon way, riddling many of
her poems. Emily Dickinson s poems, like inlay, tend to be made of splinters of thought and sight,
often brilliant fragments, held together by a mosaic sense of pattern, joined irregularly by dashes
(Wilner). Although dashes appear the most, some works also contain explanation marks. Exclamation
marks in Dickinson s poems suggest strong feeling in her thoughts, interjecting passion and
excitement throughout. The punctuation used by the author enhances her works and helps to draw in
her audience.
Dickinson s My Life had stood a Loaded Gun contains en dashes from beginning to end, giving

Child Hunger Thesis
Have you ever watched a child die of starvation? Let alone your own child?Well residents of Senegal
watch this horrific sight every day. Child hunger is a serious problem and not just in Senegal but all
around the world! About 3.1 million children die every year from starvation all around the world.
Senegal does not have enough food to properly feed their children in order to do this Senegal needs to
provide less expensive food. But to do that they must also find inexpensive ingredients. So that way
less children will be waking up and going to bed hungry.
Senegal is in Africa and borders New Guinea Bissau and Mauritania. The major ethnic groups in
Senegal are Wolof, Pulaar, Serer, Mandinka, Jola, and Soninke. The official languages of Senegal are
French, Wolof, Pulaar, Jola, and Mandinka. The main religions are 95.4% Muslim, 4.2% Christian and

beetles, slugs, leeches, flatworms, other types of parasitized earthworms. The Nightcrawler worm is,
like other species of worms, a hermaphrodite. Although the worm contains the sexual organs of both
the genders, they still need to mate to reproduce. The two worms lie alongside each other and transfer
sperm to the both of them. Each worm will lay capsules to be used as a cocoon for the egg. When the

I have always had the strongest interest and desire to work in the health care field. However, choosing
a specific area of specialty has been challenging in light of the fact that I immigrated from another

from a mental health problem that I now considered to be schizophrenia. The concept of Kemchi is a
local belief that an individual is in a transitional stage of becoming a native doctor. A native doctor is a

Dear Righteous Reformer Admissions Committee
Tyler Knox AP US History Period 2 Mrs. Frey 03 November 2014 Dear Righteous Reformer
Admissions Committee, Nineteenth century America was a nation wracked by hypocrisy. While
asserting notions of equality and liberty for all, the young land coveted these values for its white
majority. African Americans, held in bondage for economic exploitation, were robbed of the principles
of democracy and freedom so championed by the United States. This dissonance in American rhetoric
was omnipresent, for slavery was a constant and fundamental aspect of life in both the North and
South for decades. This duplicity of American equality was not lost on all whites, and a growing sect
of reformers arose to combat the wrongs of African enslavement. These ... Show more content on

Garrison s initiation into journalism began when he was apprenticed to Ephraim W. Allen, the editor
of the Newburyport Herald, at the age of 13. Garrison served as an apprentice to Allen for seven years,
and his time with the Herald led Garrison to publish his own newspaper, the Newburyport Free Press.
Despite the failure of the Newburyport Free Press two years later in 1826, Garrison continued his
work in the newspaper industry as the editor of the National Philanthropist in Boston. The National
Philanthropist was William s first foray into reform, and the newspaper advocated for the temperance
movement. Not only was the National Philanthropist Garrison s entry into social reform, but the
Bostonian paper also served as the gateway to the cause of anti slavery. This gateway would be
William s meeting with Benjamin Lundy in 1828, the editor of the anti slavery Genius of
Emancipation. Garrison became the editor of the Genius of Emancipation, and during his
employment, he became cognizant of the injustices of African American slavery. While writing for the
cause of African American liberty, he joined the American Colonization Society ( Garrison, William
Lloyd ). The Society called for the resettlement of free blacks to Africa on the basis of their
notoriously ignorant, degraded and miserable character (Faragher 442). It became clear to William that

Differences Between Monarchy and Democracy
Differences between Monarchy and Democracy
1. Democracy is a type of government that emanates from the constituted powers that are elected,
depending on the system (presidentialist, parliamentary, constitutional monarchy, semi presidentialist,
semi parliamentary, etc...) directly or indirectly by the people. Whereas in an absolute monarchy, an
absolutist regime exists and is in power because of family lineage.
2. In democracy three state powers(in most cases) exist as a checks and balances system, these being
the judicial, executive and legislative as it was enunciated in Montesquieu s Of the Spirit of law. And
they are independent, complementary and with no relation of subordination. Whereas in an absolute

[ 1 ]. Difference b/w a military government and a monarchy: In a monarchy the King or emperor is a
civilian or a military that was entitled to the position of monarch by inheritance, whereas in a pure
military government the armed forces of a country assume power by the means of a coup d etat.

difference between powers or branches and bodies. Powers are the ones that control one specific social
role, verbi gratia, the judiciary controls the courts, but bodies serve a specific function under a power
or branch. An example to serve this is Germany that has three brances( executive, judicial and

Essences Of The Groundwork
This problem became the one of essences of the Groundwork,As Thomas hills argues that Kant s
aims in the groundwork are not primarily to illustrate how to apply his formulas to particular
problems, but to the basic presuppositions of practical reason, or to transform his research weight from
first critique to second critique. Since the question on emptiness charge must be taken on more
practical responses, it seems to me Kant has undoubtedly realized this and attempted to mingle the
theoretical and practical issues in Groundwork. For example in order to disentangle practical and
transcendental freedom, Kant introduces another doctrine in the third section of Groundwork. This
doctrine is essentially the same as one finds in the First Critique: ... Show more content on

problems of freedom rather than the particularities of the moral law, perhaps, given the synthesis of
the three formulations in the second section of the Groundwork, Kant might consider it unnecessary to
modify CI yet again. By the time of the Second Critique, he engages in a rather careful explication of
the moral law in which he does not offer a clear definition of the moral law, since it appears that
providing the theoretical ground for the moral law is

The Democratic Accountability Of The European Union Essay
In this assignment I will be assessing the democratic accountability of the European Union. I will
begin by briefly describing the institutions, their functions, compositions and discuss how they work
as check and balance system to ensure democratic accountability further to look on to how laws are
made and what they are In order to establish whether or not the EU is in fact answerable to its citizens.
The 4 main institutions in the EU are; The EU parliament, the Council of Ministers, the European
council and the Commission.
The Commission is an independent body. Its powers are found in Article 17 on the Treaty on the
European Union. Each member state has 1 commissioner; this was a consequence of the Lisbon
Treaty.
The president of the commission allocates each commissioner with a portfolio that oversees areas such
as fisheries, environment, and trade. General Commissioners are suggested by member states and
elected by president elect from the Council and parliament. Commission president is nominated by
qualified majority vote of the European council, and is then elected by the European Parliament by
majority vote if this candidate doesn t get the required amount of majority votes the council will
propose another within four weeks.
It could be argued that there is too much discretion in the powers of the president in that he/she can
literally decide which commissioner gets which portfolio this could be out of personal preference.
The Commission is sometimes referred to

Police And False Confessions Case Study
Police Tactics and False Confessions
In recent years, there have been multiple high profile cases of people being exonerated, often by DNA
testing, after giving a false confession to a crime they did not commit. People who often fall into this
trap are juveniles or those with a diminished mental capacity (Redlich, 2009). DNA testing has helped
many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend brings up the question of
how were they able to give a false confession.
Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who
they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide
officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux
repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the officer
was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non consensual sex
with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to death, and was to spend
fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA examination confirmed that he was not
guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from
the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation, psychological vulnerability, and fear of the
death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux (Leo, 2008). This case is a great example of

California Government Structure Essay
Structure of California s Government
Headed by the governor of the state, the state govt. of CA replicates the Federal govt. It has three
branches that perform their assigned tasks and keep within the limits set by the constitution. These
branches are:
Legislature
Executive
Judiciary
While this division has been created to give structure to the government and ensure its smooth and
effective functioning, there is, more importantly, the need to keep the power of the branches in check
and to make them accountable to each other. There is a system of checks and balances that comes into
play with this segregation of duties and separation of power. This system s inception has been
attributed to Montesquieu. (Wikipedia.org)

Governor s Budget Power: 3
Governor s Veto Power: 5
Governor s Institutional Power: 3.2 (3.4 in 2000)
The Governor Rating in the year 2000 placed CA s governor at an overall rating of 3.4 and a rank of
29 among the nation.
What is interesting to note is the rating given to Power of the Legislature to Change Governor s
Budget which was 1 on a 1 5 scale in a study conducted by Dr.Thad Beyle. This shows the CA
governor as wielding a certain amount of influence in the legislature s passing of his proposed budget,
Of course, the constitution mandates that the budget be balanced and, if not, then the previous year s
budget remain effective. This already puts limitations and expectations in the budget s formulation.
Executive Order

of each developmental stage results in a healthy personality and the acquisition of basic virtue. The

in order to successfully move to the next stage. Respectively, developmental approach is the most

children s psychosocial adaption to ICU and the negative implications on their development in terms

Personal Statement On Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is holding you accountable for all your actions and decisions. Being personally
responsible means you take ownership of what you do in and with your life. This means from the time
you wake up until you go to bed at night, your life is your responsibility and yours alone. Your values,
morals, and beliefs are all contributing factors in how you view being personally responsible. If you
have been raised and taught to believe that you should consider your actions at all times, then
responsibility becomes second nature to you . For some it may be a little more difficult to grasp this
concept. What we need to remember is that personal responsibility is important in every aspect of life .
In college one has to take personal responsibility very seriously. I began my college education in my
early thirties. I had been out of school for quite some time and knew that I faced a real challenge. I had
to purpose in my mind that I was going to do whatever it took to reach my academic goals. Starting
out I faced several disadvantages , from lack of financial aid, to self doubt. I had to take charge of
what was my dream and find a way to make it happen. I went to the college after obtaining my GED
and just laid it all out on the line. Once I received my first class schedule I felt I was on my way. That
very first class night I had an eye opening moment. I realized that this was going to take a lot of hard
work and determination. I found out quickly that not everyone

The NFL Lockout Essay
Business deals happen every day; Contracts expire, renew, and are negotiated without the public
knowing for many large corporations and even sporting leagues. However, some contract changes
cannot escape the media s attention. The National Football League (NFL) is facing an expiration of its
Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) (NFL Lockout Now One Month Old). Currently, the
agreement has expired and NFL team owners have selfishly chosen to lock the players out. The term
lockout means that the players are essentially not allowed to participate in any team activities or duties
until the owner s rescind this lockout. While many believe this is simply a battle between team owners
and a player union, it can only appear to most as a selfish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Never the less, we need to look deeper into the negotiations to see what is really being argues and who
is genuinely at fault. One of the bigger arguing points of the expiration and creation of the new
Collective Bargaining Agreement was the expansion of the football season from 16 games to 18
games. While, at the surface this may seem as though it is simple two games , it would be a dramatic
change to many season aspects. Firstly, this would reduce the number of pre season games from four
to two. This lessens the team s real life preparation time. Which gives both players and coaches real
scenarios to base decisions about who to play, what players to release from the team and generally
how to plan for their seasons. Another great thing about preseason is it gives fans a chance to see their
teams in a cheaper setting, as these games normally do not have full price tickets. Additionally, there
was great concern from players about health reasoning, as a 16 game season is already cruel to a
football player s body. Many players are often on the sideline for at least a small portion of the season
with some sort of injury. Adding two more games only increases the chances for injury, which is
accelerated with the short preparation time in a shorter preseason. You may ask at this point, what the
owner s standpoint may be. Unfortunately, it is most simply as being stated to recuperate more income
from potential income losses. Obviously, the owners only see money in the

The Supreme Court Decisions Shape Our Country s Future
There is absolutely no resistance to the idea that the Supreme Court s decisions shape our country s
future. Decisions like Brown v Board of Education, or Obergefell v Hodges have dramatically
changed some laws and restrictions seem as derogatory and contrary to our equalitarian society. The
question that many people pose however, is why some Supreme Court decisions implemented almost
immediately, and others take a while to even gain some sense of traction. Expert opinions differ, but
they all almost revolve around the idea that political inclination often determine implementation and
respect of laws. Others say resistance to Supreme Court decisions stem from the parties involved and
their interests. Needless to say, almost every theory and opinion in this case bear some truth. By The
People, For The Congress As we all know, Congress is one of the three bodies of our government that
is elected by the people. This often give the congress some type of legitimacy as lawmakers pretend to
carry out the wishes of their constituents. We have however seen many instances where personal
political gains trumped the wishes of the people. One main reason why Supreme Court rulings are
ignored is the political agenda of congressmen and women. Senator Cruz who happens to be one of
the current s court enemy, has advocated for restrictions on the Supreme Court simply because some
laws voted were contrary to his ideals, and those of the people who rally behind him. In the recent Gay

The National Average Cost Of A Wedding Cake
The national average cost of a wedding cake is about four hundred sixty six dollars in the United
States. Wedding cakes began as once a simple tradition of weddings. Now they are one of the biggest
elements of someone s big day. Wedding cakes have been influenced by society and several other
aspects that have immensely improved its appearance and quality. Over several time periods, culture
and new technique have allowed the wedding cake to evolve to what it is today. Wedding cakes have
grown and developed from two main ethnical traditions. One of the traditions can be traced back to
the Ancient Roman Empire. Around 1900 years ago, the Romans began baking wheat and salt into
small cakes to be eaten (Clee Cadman, Mary). One of the rituals

Firefighting, 2 Con s, 1 Pro Firefighting is a profession that can weigh heavily on a person s emotional
and mental well being, as well as their physical health, yet be rewarding at the same time.
The first ever city fire department in the world was started in Edinburgh, Scotland,in 1824. It was
called the Edinburgh Fire Engine Company and led by James Braidwood. The London Fire Engine
Company was the next one established in London, England in 1832. On January 27, 1678 the first fire
engine company was put into service in Boston under the direction of Captain Thomas Atkins. This
company took the place of bucket brigades which had previously been used to control fires. In 1736 at

As of 2014, there were around 1,134,400 firefighters serving in 27,198 fire departments nationwide
and responding to emergencies from 58,150 fire stations. Out of the 1,134,400 firefighters, 31 percent
of them were professional firefighters and 69 percent of them were volunteers. Firefighters generally
work long shifts that include weekends and holidays. The two most common types of shifts for
firefighters are 24 hours on duty followed by 48 hours off duty, or 48 hours on duty with 96 hours off
duty. On a daily basis, firefighters work with heavy, loud and dangerous tools such as axes,
sledgehammers, chainsaws, k12 saws, the jaws of life, fire engines, SCBA (self contained breathing
apparatus), hoses, water nozzles, among many other tools and apparatus. The Personal Breathing
Apparatus (air pack) provides the firefighter with clean oxygen. It is made up of a high pressure tank,
a pressure regulator, and an air mask.
To become a completely trained firefighter it can take up to 2 years if you decide to, or have to have
your paramedic certification. The full paramedic training takes up to 10 times as long as basic EMT or
Emergency Management Technician training, which can be between one and two thousand hours of

Origins Of The Eucharist With A Focus On The New Testament...
Introduction
This essay discusses the origins of the Eucharist with a focus on the New Testament and the Jewish
background, it briefly summaries Bradshaw s critic of Dom Gregory Dix s theory of early Eucharistic
practices. It then examines Dom Gregory Dix s theory of the fourfold shape of the Eucharist. It uses
Justin Martyr s writings to provide evidence to support Dom Gregory Dix s fourfold shape, and
finally, it examines Dom Gregory Dix s fourfold shape theory using Bradshaw s contribution to the
field.
Origins of the Eucharist
All the four canonical gospels account that Jesus and his disciples had an evening meal before Jesus
death. This meal has been called the Last Supper. The synoptic gospel narratives refer to this Last

Thanksgiving (in Greek, εὐχαριστία ) is generally regarded as the Greek equivalent of berakah that is,
the Jewish blessing addressed to God at meals over the food and drink. It is in this sense that the term
was originally used in connection with the common meal of the early Christian community, at which
the blessing or thanksgiving had special reference to Jesus Christ .
Some of the Eucharistic celebrations of the early Christians included a meal called an agape feast, but
it is necessary to note that this practice as well as the terminology might have been different in
communities . The origin of the Eucharist might also be found from the Todah which is a thanksgiving
that is done in gratitude for a favour received from God, it includes a thanksgiving and a petition. This
pattern is was relevant for future Eucharistic prayers .
A very important source of information for the origin of the Eucharist is the Didache, this document
contains moral instructions and directions for the pattern of the Eucharist amongst other things.
Bradshaw and Dix point out that the prayers in the Didache (Chapters 9 and 10) have been recognised
to have some Jewish appearance and are thought to resemble the forms of Jewish table prayers and

Black Panther Party Reflection
My experience at the Oakland Museum was educational, I learn about the history of Asian American
were mistreated and placed to work on the railroads. The artwork I saw at the Museum was quite
amazing that look quite realistic. It was a photograph of lady holding a child during the time of the
Great Depression. Another thing I saw was The Black Panther Party exhibit it was quite small, but I
learn that African American does not want to be seen as second class citizen and being disrespected.
This connects to our class in a way it relates to the documentary that we watched about the Black
Panther Party. The Black Panther Party is a movement that revolutionized the Black community like
the Black Lives Matter movement that is around today. This particular movement help fund a
breakfast program for low income family which it is a model used in public schools. Lastly, I sat on a
half opened airplane and imagining I was an immigrant coming to the United States looking for new
opportunities like the War and Peace documentary I watched for a homework assignment. Overall, I
enjoy the Oakland Museum. The second event I attended was the no A s movement. I did not really
went there close enough since I was in a rush to get to work. However, I took a quick second to take a
picture of the event. The movement is not that big compared to the Black Panther Party movement in
the early 1990 s where Huey, one of the controversial figures in the party. He was the one who is seen

Object Oriented Database
Introduction
Choosing the right OODB architecture can mean orders of magnitude difference in performance and
scalability characteristics rather than a few percentage points as found in relational implementations.
To achieve maximum performance and scalability the most important thing is choosing the right
application architecture. OODBs give applications much more direct access to the persistent data, so
application architecture has much more impact on performance than is the case with an RDB. Or to
put it another way, when using an
OODB the application architect has much more power to optimize performance than when using an
RDB. Consequently the application architecture has more effect on performance and scalability than
the choice of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, a database system contains the five following features:
Persistence
As in a conventional database, data must remain after the process that created it has terminated. For
this purpose data has to be stored permanently on secondary storage.
Secondary Storage Management
Traditional databases employ techniques, which manage secondary storage in order to improve the
performance of the system. These are usually invisible to the user of the system.
Concurrency
The system should provide a concurrency mechanism, which is similar to the concurrency
mechanisms in conventional databases.
Recovery
The system should provide a recovery mechanism similar to recovery mechanisms in conventional
databases.
Ad hoc query facility
The database should provide a high level, efficient, application independent query facility. This needs
not necessarily be a query language but could instead, be some type of graphical interface.
The above criteria are perhaps the most complete attempt so far to define the features of an object
oriented database in 1989. Further attempts to define an OODBS standard were made variables of
researchers. One of them is a group called Object Data Management Group (ODMG). They have
worked on an OODBS standard for the industry. The recent release is ODMG 2 in1997.

Compare and Contrast Two Theories of Leadership. Do These...
Compare and contrast two theories of leadership. Do these theories offer practical guidance for
managers?
Practice in management There has been a long debate about the functions of leadership and
management. Kotter (1990) argued the goal of leadership is to pursue the adaptive and constructive
changes and the purpose of management is to acquire stability and consistency. In addition, he
suggested that the process of leadership is to influence others and management is to maintain
operations and accomplish goals. As was mentioned earlier, the trait theory contains highly subjective
perspectives. It means that the perception of leadership traits is associated with the assessment of
leadership. Barry et al (2003) conducted an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This argument could be proved by reviewing nowadays recruiting systems. It is not difficult to find
that working experience has been seen as the important sources of competency and the crucial role in
human resource management.
This is safe to say that when managers who exhibit this approach might include this as hiring
conditions. Moreover, they also introduced environmental influences as a factor which affects
management performance. In managerial situation, external factors would work as inputs and have
impacts on effectiveness of organizations. For example, communication between staffs had been
discussed as an element which can lead to better working performances and benign circle of
management by receiving feedback and making improvement. Karp (2003) claimed that individuals
can actualize their special talent by the way of skill development such as training, education and
experience which signify that leadership can be secure by inspiring and encouraging through various
channels. This concept has been adopted by public to set forth training programs. Such as Microsoft
Cooperation, their summer intern program is the combination of recruiting and training by which they
can identify individuals who are qualified and worth being cultivated. Like all other leadership
theories, the trait theory and the skills theory both have

Management Theories
A manager s role is to plan, make decisions, and co ordinate the organising, leading and controlling of
an organisation s resources, in order to achieve organisational goals in an efficient and effective
manner (Davidson, Simon, Woods Griffin, 2009). Management theories from the past can be utilised
by contemporary managers, enabling them to consider a range of perspectives on how to approach
problems, make decisions and develop systems designed to reap the benefits of employees exhibiting
desirable behaviours (Davidson et al, 2009). Despite the common conception that theories are abstract
and irrelevant to practical situations, management theories are grounded in reality (Davidson et al,
2009). Knowledge gained from experiences in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Managers can learn a lot from the positives and negatives of scientific management. In modern
organisations, increasing efficiency is always a desirable outcome, however case studies involving
scientific management highlight the danger of focussing on efficiency at the expense of employees
satisfaction. Henri Fayol, Max Weber and Chester Barnard were three contributors to administrative
management, the branch of classical management concerned with the organisation as a whole
(Davidson et al, 2009).
Henri Fayol (1841 1925) described fourteen basic principles of management, which provide the basis
for the four basic categories planning, leading, organising and controlling used in most contemporary
management books (Davidson et al, 2009). Under Fayol s system, the management process goes
beyond the basic hierarchical model developed by Taylor. The command function continues to operate
effectively through a series of co ordination and control methods. Regular managerial meetings were
recommended to improve co ordination of organisational operations (Pindur et al, 1995). Fayol s
categorisation of managerial principles is a useful reference point for contemporary managers to
examine their behaviours against (Davidson et al, 1995).
Max Weber is often referred to as the father of bureaucratic management (Pindur et al, 1995). He
developed a system in which individuals were granted occupations and responsibilities within an

In each half of an inning one team bats while the other plays the field. If the score is tied after nine
innings are over then the game is continued into extra innings and is concluded when one team is
winning after an extra inning. These are the basic rules of baseball. THE FIELD AND EQUIPMENT
Baseball is played on a field, which usually covers about two acres. The field is divided into an infield
and an outfield. These two parts are considered fair territory and the rest of the field is considered foul.
The infield is in the shape of a diamond and is 90 ft on each side. One point of the diamond is home
plate which batters hit from. The other three points are bases: first, second, and third base. In the
middle of the diamond is a pitchers mound which is slightly raised off the ground. The edges of the
diamond from home plate to first base and home plate to third base are the foul lines, which extend all
the way to the wall in the outfield. Behind first base is right field, behind second base is called center
field, and behind third base is called left field. Fences are placed at the farthest limits in the outfield.
In foul territory beyond the foul lines in the infield are dugouts where players sit when they are not
playing or waiting to bat. Baseball also consists of many pieces of equipment. Baseball equipment
includes the following: a hard ball which has a cork center and has a circumference of 9 in., a bat

The Changes In The Medieval Church
Before the church deliberates missiology we need to go back to the creation of all things because the

of a people, Israel, temporary through the New Testament, with the coming of Jesus, to one day the
complete manifestation of God s Holy Spirit reaching to all nations and cultures. Thus we will go back

Examples Of Classroom Observation
More important than the curriculum is the questions of the methods of teaching and the spirit in which
the teaching is given states Bertrand Russell. Observations prepare future teachers to experience how
classrooms are conducted every day in turn providing them with the resources that will eventually
exist in their own classroom. I witnessed many techniques in the classrooms that will be very
beneficial throughout my teaching career that will aid in motivating, inspiring, and assisting students.
My observation was at Webb City Middle School in Webb City, Missouri with Lori Smith s 6th grade
class. Mrs. Smith utilized several teaching strategies throughout my observation that helped the
students learn, and maintain classroom management. Some of the strategies were: call and response
sayings, collaboration, and checking for understanding. Call and response helped the students to stay
on task when they began to lose interest or began to talk to their neighbor. Some of the call and
responses were: class...class...yes...yes, and oh wonderful class...oh wonderful teacher. Collaboration
supports students in the learning process when they are presented a problem and the students have to
work through it together to come up with an appropriate answer. I loved how she structured the lesson
on ratios and fractions. Mrs. Smith began the lesson by modeling some of the problems on the smart
board with a worksheet. The questions revolved around the examples: Susan has 4

The Facts About The Achievement Gap Summary
How should society handle the perceived differences between races when it comes to education? The
goal of both researchers is to narrow the academic gap between white and black students. Both authors
attribute the gap between the academic scores of black and white students from opposite sides of
racial identity. As Dr. Beverly Daniels Tatum, President of Spelman College and clinical psychologist
has written an article entitled Why are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? Her
approach is from the perspective of the student and how they perceive their role and upper limits while
maintaining their place in their peer group s expectations of their race. Dr. Diane Ravitch, a research
professor of education at New York University, has written an article entitled The Facts about the
Achievement Gap. Her approach is from the perspective of how schools and society implicitly or
explicitly cast students into achievement tracks based on their race. Both approach the same idea
about racial identity, but they have different solutions, such as peer groups, the school board, and who
is right about the solution. First, Tatum suggests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Critical Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
In Walt Whitman s Song of Myself , the poet showcases his feelings of people and himself by using
literary descriptors to convey his thoughts on these and various other subjects. In section 20, Whitman
s purpose is to showcase self assuredness regardless of what the world tries to state otherwise by
maintaining his resolute happiness in being himself. This is what sets him apart from being like the
other people in the world.
Whitman is known for being revolutionary for his use of free form verse in the nineteenth century.
This style is evident throughout Song of Myself which aids in his descriptions and devices used to get
his meaning across. His grouping of three lines per stanza for this section is common for the entirety
of Song of Myself , which has variations of three line to occasionally five line stanzas. His freedom in
his poem s style and lack of rhyme scheme allow him to fully showcase his thoughts in a new way for
this time period. An overall summary of the poem is Whitman s pondering of himself and the world in
behavior and personality to him being fully confident in himself with no existential crisis. For the first
half of section 20, Whitman s character of himself questions everything beyond the ownership of
himself. He questions the integrity of other people s identities and characters as well as ignoring social
norms involving manners and religious behavior. The declaration of a lack of manners and questioning
the church would have been scandalous to

for memorizing in Experience Psychology. The first two steps, organizing and encoding, I have
completed as we moved through each session. Encoding early on is an important step because I was
able to introduce each concept to my brain one by one as it was learned, rather than cramming it all in

Explain The Stages Of Inflammation
Chapter Four: Stages of Inflammation
Inflammation is the body s natural response to injury. An injury to soft tissue can arise from numerous
sources. Physical traumas such as sprain, strain or contusion are the most common. However, there
could also be injuries from viral or bacterial infection, chemical, or heat injury. Trauma can cause
direct damage to cells that are in the immediate area of injury, causing bleeding. From there, the
bleeding causes a line of events in the inflammatory process that promote healing the injuries tissue.
Stage 1: The Inflammatory Response
Healing of the acute injuries starts with the acute vascular inflammatory response. The purpose of
those vascular changes is to increase the blood flow to the area, mobilize

Egyptian King Akhenaten Research Paper
The meaning behind Akhenaten
Going against many years of Egyptian worship Akhenaten proclaimed in about the 14th century B.C
that his people were only to worship one god and that was the sun disk Aten. Akhenaten was called a
monotheist maybe even the first to live. Egyptian King Akhenaten s meaning Effective for Aten . His
name was originally Amenhotep IV, he ruled for about 20 years. While in his rule he move the royal
house from Thebes to a new site somewhere in middle Egypt, Akhenaten ordered marvelous temples
to be built for Aten. Akhenaten claimed to be the middle man so to speak between the people and
Aten; this made him like a god in a way to the people because he was the only person blessed with the
ability to be able to talk to Aten. The funny thing is he worshiped all of the Egyptian gods and was
building a temple to one. Then dropped that to build a different temple to Aten which now he thinks is
the one and only god. Before all of this took place how did Akhenaten come to power in the first
place? Right before he took power we know that his family was already the ruling party after using
military force to take over. Which he was the next to rule the empire in kind of a military enforced
domain. He began building a city that he named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t know about you but if I hear the same thing about someone over and over I begin to believe
that it could be true. The narrator has set out on a quest to make a history for the king free of bias by
chaining all these stories from different sources to finally have the truth about him. The intended
audience is the reader he wants them to look at this piece and decide for themselves the real truthful
story behind Akhenaten the sun king. He uses many different sources from most people that lived in
the day of his father. Each of them have a story to tell to him. He is trying to pick up where his father

Without You Rhetorical Devices
The song that was chosen for this presentation is called Without You by Oh Wonder. It is about a
couple who is patiently waiting for their lover to come home. The song explains how they felt without
each other, which is where the name of the song comes into place. Music is very powerful and can
speak to the soul. However, it all depends on how the song is composed. The song, Without You,
opens with a piano melody. The melody is constantly repeated throughout the song that is played in a
D major or the key of D. A few seconds in, a percussion instrument is introduced which is called a
drum. The drummer adds a single kick as well as an offbeat. For the duration of the song, the drummer
will play at a slow tempo. As the song begins to rise,

Is Education A Moral And Civilised Society Which Is At...
Education s main goal is to establish a civilised, moral and contented society which is at ease with
itself (Hayes, 2008). This interpretation of education is one which I have seen gather meaning
throughout my placement, if posed with the question what is the aim of education? prior to my
placement my response would have been a generic and standard answer referring to the possibilities of
getting a job in the future and to meet government and societies standards. But my time on placement
has allowed me to reflect upon and respond to the excellent teaching I have witnessed which has had a
focus on meeting standards but there is an edge to the style of teaching, characterising how the teacher
cares for every single child as an individual and wishes to see them grow and develop as individuals.
This article of work has been broken down into four main sections; these sections are the main entries
from my reflective diary which in my opinion are the most significant experiences from my time. The
first section is focused primarily on how the teachers rapport which is built through her affection and
care to her class which consequently inspires the class to work and behave for her and how this affects
the behaviour management strategies used in the classroom, secondly I will look at the differentiation
between pupils in the classroom, the role of the teaching assistant in the classroom and finally the use
of questioning in the classroom. How teacher pupil rapport affects

Odysseus Qualities
Odysseus, the main character and the hero of the epic, The Odyssey, is the leader of a fleet of men
who tend to get themselves in many wild shenanigans and setbacks. Although he does get and at his
men, he understands the human nature of his men, and do want the best for them. This task of keeping
his men alive is made easier by the fact that Odysseus is naturally a heroic person and leader. He is
willing to do or go anywhere to ensure the safety of his men and a higher chance of arriving at their
home, Ithaka. Thus, throughout the course of Book 10, Odysseus has shown to readers that he justifies
the traits that originates from being a brave and caring leader. To start, Odysseus meets the qualities
that comes with being a courageous leader by willing to fight anyone for the safety of himself and his
crew. For example, after hearing the tragic news of the disappearance of several of his men, Odysseus
is willing to go back to the palace where they had disappeared, not knowing who could ... Show more

For instance, after his men foolishly release the winds in the bag from King Aiolos assuming that
treasure had been enclosed in it, Odysseus and his men are swept back to the island of Aiolia. During
this event, Odysseus considers jumping off the boat for a swift and watery death, but is loyal to his
men and stays with them on the boat. Also, after a year of living comfortably on the island of Aiaia,
Odysseus s men are homesick and wish to return to Ithaka. With hearing this, Odysseus retells, They
made me feel a pang, and I agreed (10.525), therefore sacrificing a life of luxury for him and his men
to go back to Ithaka. Lastly, when announcing the departure of him and his men from Aiaia, Odysseus
notes that, I bent above each one, and gently said: (10.604), taking the time to personally tell the news
to each of his men, and in a gentle tone, so as not to harshly stir them

  • 4. Altitude Sickness Essay A perception of mountain people, who are often denigrated and ostracized for their dissimilarities compared to the more modern civilizations, is that they lack cultural progressiveness and in most cases are running backwards from the growing economic and social municipalities of the world. For one thing, mountain people live in high altitudes that lack the necessary infrastructure for development and most importantly, they live away from capitals and major cities. Therefore, they are isolated from their capital s political and economic affairs. Due to this isolation, most mountain people presume that their nation s government is a part of a separate entity that has no relation to them. In other words, they believe that the government is selfish and doesn t care about their needs for survival, therefore they must flourish on their own. Therefore, the mountain people adhere to their own cultural and traditional ways of life and in most cases are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one main aspect that connects the mountain people together, although many express cultural and religious heterogeneity, is the fact that they are located in the danger zones of most political boundaries, sitting right in between two superior powers. Fredrick Starr states that, People who actually live in [high mountain zones] are all too often [exposed to] spiraling violence due to issues with political and even local boundaries (Starr 1). • 5. Determinant Of Health Essay Inequality is a key determinant of health status in populations Discuss this statement. The definition of health is an abstract concept (Earle et al, 2007). According to The World Health Organisation health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO constitution, 1946). The WHO definition of health has regularly been scrutinised due to lack of mention of sexual, emotional, and spiritual health. People define health differently throughout their lives e.g a child may define being healthy as the ability to attend school, the elderly define health more in the terms of being able to look after yourself and declining health as an inevitable part of aging (Lawton, 2003). Inequality the focus of my essay is defined as the difference is size, degree or circumstance (Google,2017). I aim to discuss a range of different social determinants of health, the social gradient scale and how the degree of inequity and inequality varies within populations within and between countries. Inequalities within different populations which affect health status has been a government agenda since the 1970 s resulting with the publication of The Black Report 1980 and Sir Michael Marmot s global commission on the social determinates of health report 2008. Glimpsing at just a few of Dickinson s poems is sure to catch the eye of a reader, posing questions of grammatical soundness. Capital letters, dots, and dashes appear consistently, but maybe there is a reason behind it all. Emily Dickinson uses punctuation in a non traditional way throughout her poems, contributing to the effect and meaning of her works, such as My Life had stooda Loaded Gun, After great pain, a formal feeling comes, and Wild NightsWild Nights! Emily Dickinson employs commonly used punctuation marks in an uncommon way, riddling many of her poems. Emily Dickinson s poems, like inlay, tend to be made of splinters of thought and sight, often brilliant fragments, held together by a mosaic sense of pattern, joined irregularly by dashes (Wilner). Although dashes appear the most, some works also contain explanation marks. Exclamation marks in Dickinson s poems suggest strong feeling in her thoughts, interjecting passion and excitement throughout. The punctuation used by the author enhances her works and helps to draw in her audience. Dickinson s My Life had stood a Loaded Gun contains en dashes from beginning to end, giving more meaning ... African Americans, held in bondage for economic exploitation, were robbed of the principles of democracy and freedom so championed by the United States. Despite the failure of the Newburyport Free Press two years later in 1826, Garrison continued his work in the newspaper industry as the editor of the National Philanthropist in Boston. The National Philanthropist was William s first foray into reform, and the newspaper advocated for the temperance movement. Since the question on emptiness charge must be taken on more practical responses, it seems to me Kant has undoubtedly realized this and attempted to mingle the theoretical and practical issues in Groundwork. The 4 main institutions in the EU are; The EU parliament, the Council of Ministers, the European council and the Commission. The Commission is an independent body. Its powers are found in Article 17 on the Treaty on the European Union. Each member state has 1 commissioner; this was a consequence of the Lisbon Treaty. The president of the commission allocates each commissioner with a portfolio that oversees areas such as fisheries, environment, and trade. General Commissioners are suggested by member states and elected by president elect from the Council and parliament. • 16. Police And False Confessions Case Study Police Tactics and False Confessions In recent years, there have been multiple high profile cases of people being exonerated, often by DNA testing, after giving a false confession to a crime they did not commit. People who often fall into this trap are juveniles or those with a diminished mental capacity (Redlich, 2009). DNA testing has helped many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend brings up the question of how were they able to give a false confession. Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the officer was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non consensual sex with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to death, and was to spend fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA examination confirmed that he was not guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation, psychological vulnerability, and fear of the death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux (Leo, 2008). • 19. Personal Statement On Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility is holding you accountable for all your actions and decisions. Being personally responsible means you take ownership of what you do in and with your life. This means from the time you wake up until you go to bed at night, your life is your responsibility and yours alone. Your values, morals, and beliefs are all contributing factors in how you view being personally responsible. If you have been raised and taught to believe that you should consider your actions at all times, then responsibility becomes second nature to you . For some it may be a little more difficult to grasp this concept. What we need to remember is that personal responsibility is important in every aspect of life . In college one has to take personal responsibility very seriously. I began my college education in my early thirties. I had been out of school for quite some time and knew that I faced a real challenge. I had to purpose in my mind that I was going to do whatever it took to reach my academic goals. Never the less, we need to look deeper into the negotiations to see what is really being argues and who is genuinely at fault. One of the bigger arguing points of the expiration and creation of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement was the expansion of the football season from 16 games to 18 games. While, at the surface this may seem as though it is simple two games , it would be a dramatic change to many season aspects. Firstly, this would reduce the number of pre season games from four to two. This lessens the team s real life preparation time. Which gives both players and coaches real scenarios to base decisions about who to play, what players to release from the team and generally how to plan for their seasons. Another great thing about preseason is it gives fans a chance to see their teams in a cheaper setting, as these games normally do not have full price tickets. Additionally, there was great concern from players about health reasoning, as a 16 game season is already cruel to a football player s body. Many players are often on the sideline for at least a small portion of the season with some sort of injury. Adding two more games only increases the chances for injury, which is accelerated with the short preparation time in a shorter preseason. Decisions like Brown v Board of Education, or Obergefell v Hodges have dramatically changed some laws and restrictions seem as derogatory and contrary to our equalitarian society. The question that many people pose however, is why some Supreme Court decisions implemented almost immediately, and others take a while to even gain some sense of traction. Expert opinions differ, but they all almost revolve around the idea that political inclination often determine implementation and respect of laws. Others say resistance to Supreme Court decisions stem from the parties involved and their interests. Needless to say, almost every theory and opinion in this case bear some truth. By The People, For The Congress As we all know, Congress is one of the three bodies of our government that is elected by the people. This often give the congress some type of legitimacy as lawmakers pretend to carry out the wishes of their constituents. We have however seen many instances where personal political gains trumped the wishes of the people. One main reason why Supreme Court rulings are ignored is the political agenda of congressmen and women. Senator Cruz who happens to be one of the current s court enemy, has advocated for restrictions on the Supreme Court simply because some laws voted were contrary to his ideals, and those of the people who rally behind him. Thanksgiving (in Greek, εὐχαριστία ) is generally regarded as the Greek equivalent of berakah that is, the Jewish blessing addressed to God at meals over the food and drink. It is in this sense that the term was originally used in connection with the common meal of the early Christian community, at which the blessing or thanksgiving had special reference to Jesus Christ . Some of the Eucharistic celebrations of the early Christians included a meal called an agape feast, but it is necessary to note that this practice as well as the terminology might have been different in communities . The origin of the Eucharist might also be found from the Todah which is a thanksgiving that is done in gratitude for a favour received from God, it includes a thanksgiving and a petition. This pattern is was relevant for future Eucharistic prayers . A very important source of information for the origin of the Eucharist is the Didache, this document contains moral instructions and directions for the pattern of the Eucharist amongst other things. Henri Fayol (1841 1925) described fourteen basic principles of management, which provide the basis for the four basic categories planning, leading, organising and controlling used in most contemporary management books (Davidson et al, 2009). My observation was at Webb City Middle School in Webb City, Missouri with Lori Smith s 6th grade class. Mrs. Smith utilized several teaching strategies throughout my observation that helped the students learn, and maintain classroom management. Critical Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself In Walt Whitman s Song of Myself , the poet showcases his feelings of people and himself by using literary descriptors to convey his thoughts on these and various other subjects. In section 20, Whitman s purpose is to showcase self assuredness regardless of what the world tries to state otherwise by maintaining his resolute happiness in being himself. This is what sets him apart from being like the other people in the world. Whitman is known for being revolutionary for his use of free form verse in the nineteenth century. This style is evident throughout Song of Myself which aids in his descriptions and devices used to get his meaning across. His grouping of three lines per stanza for this section is common for the entirety of Song of Myself , which has variations of three line to occasionally five line stanzas. His freedom in his poem s style and lack of rhyme scheme allow him to fully showcase his thoughts in a new way for this time period. An overall summary of the poem is Whitman s pondering of himself and the world in behavior and personality to him being fully confident in himself with no existential crisis. For the first half of section 20, Whitman s character of himself questions everything beyond the ownership of himself. • 49. Is Education A Moral And Civilised Society Which Is At... Education s main goal is to establish a civilised, moral and contented society which is at ease with itself (Hayes, 2008). This interpretation of education is one which I have seen gather meaning throughout my placement, if posed with the question what is the aim of education? prior to my placement my response would have been a generic and standard answer referring to the possibilities of getting a job in the future and to meet government and societies standards. But my time on placement has allowed me to reflect upon and respond to the excellent teaching I have witnessed which has had a focus on meeting standards but there is an edge to the style of teaching, characterising how the teacher cares for every single child as an individual and wishes to see them grow and develop as individuals. This article of work has been broken down into four main sections; these sections are the main entries from my reflective diary which in my opinion are the most significant experiences from my time. The first section is focused primarily on how the teachers rapport which is built through her affection and care to her class which consequently inspires the class to work and behave for her and how this affects the behaviour management strategies used in the classroom, secondly I will look at the differentiation between pupils in the classroom, the role of the teaching assistant in the classroom and finally the use of questioning in the classroom. How teacher pupil rapport affects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
