The Sonnet And Early Modern Literature
The beginning of the 1500 s became an important time for the sonnet and early modern literature.
Thomas Wyatt and Henry Howard were the first to introduce the form to England by translating the
sonnets of the overtly influential Italian poet Petrarch, giving a firm foundation for many others
including that of William Shakespeare to expand and contrast. Consisting of fourteen lines, the sonnet
follows a specific rhyme scheme and rhythm. Although seemingly compact, the sonnet is used by
many to express both the thought and emotion of the poet, from this it is evident that although
superficially short in structure, the poet is still able to elaborate to an extent that touches the reader
making it sincere to the reader at first, however as we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many ways the sonnet was as much about the cleverness of the poet as it was about his devotion to
his beloved. From this we can see that the formal cleverness does attract the reader as well as its
elaboration, with this being said the sincerity of the sonnet remains a constant theme in the sonnets.
During Shakespeare s sonnets he makes the sincerity of the sonnets known through his use of illusion,
particularly during sonnet 130 where he expresses a somewhat blunt honesty, this honesty presents the
notion of sincerity in Shakespeare s sonnets, however as we explore them further the insincerity
surrounding the sonnets becomes increasingly more evident. Sonnet 130 is used to shock the
audiences with a surprisingly honest outlook in regards to his love as a way of expressing his view
that her inner beauty is more important to him than any of her bodily features. It could be possible to
argue that perhaps Shakespeare s sonnets are sincere and as an alternative it is Petrarch s sonnets that
remain insincere as a result of the unrealistic expectation and the blindness the narrator feels when
referring to the physical attributes of Laura. Shakespeare is simply demonstrating realism as he speaks
of a real woman and not of a flawless unrealistic woman made from the creation of convention at the
time. Therefore, reality remains greatly significant when we think about perfection, nothing is perfect
in this world but rather we are faced with the concept

Athletic Schedule Essay
NEWPORT BEACH, CA The Newport Mesa Unified School District abolished a rower s right to have
an Athletic Schedule. All school athletes get the Athletic Schedule which gives them an open 7th and
8th period. Many of the athletes given this schedule don t even practice every day of the week, like
crew. By ignoring the rower s need of the Athletic Schedule , NMUSD is implying that the district
doesn t think that rowing is a sport.
The NMUSD policy states that students should be able to show that, the proposed Independent Study
Physical Education program is not available in a District program, is not solely recreational, and that
such activity is in preparation for local, statewide, national, or international competition through a
recognized association . Rowing is run through the USRowing Association. The Newport Aquatic
Center Jr Crew competes in regional competitions to compete in Youth Nationals and eventually
compete in the jr world competition. Crew has been ignored as a sport simply due to the fact that it is
run outside the campus of Newport Harbor. NMUSD stated that, Instruction must take place in a
supervised facility. The rowing team practices at the Newport Aquatic Center, which is supervised at
all times.
Rowers practice 5 days a week after school for three hours. This practice includes rowing on the

Almost every country which competes in the Olympics has a crew team. NMUSD does not accept the
fact that rowing is a sport. The current athletes on the NAC Jr Crew that attend Newport Harbor are
being wronged by the district. A sport is a sport whether or not it is threaded through the high school.
On top of the denial of an Athletic Schedule to rowers, the district has given the NAC Jr Crew little to
no information on why rower s schedules changed. The rowing community is large at Newport
Harbor, and as Golan puts it, the school is isolating part of its own population for no

Yom Kipur Analysis
Jews and prayer for Yom Kippur, 1940 Warsaw
The main motive of this photograph is essentially a global history of the Jewish people. It is very
specific, sad and instructive. In order to properly clarify this picture, we have to start from the
beginning, shed light on the history of the Jewish people, and pay particular attention to the dark times
during the Holocaust, and particularly refer to the Jewish understanding of the holiday. Jewish history
tells us about how the Jewish people lived from the time when they appeared up to the present day.
The nation is like a big family, and a large family can be compared to a tree. This is the way that the
Jewish people formed. It exists for more than three thousand years. They used to have their own
country called Eretz Yisrael, in which the whole people spoke ... Show more content on

If Yom Kippur had remained only as a holiday when the priest prays for forgiveness for the sins of the
people, it would never have survived the destruction of the Temple. However, as it was already going
through a long evolution, people have increasingly participated in the ceremonies, so the holiday
became more important. Shortly before the destruction of the Temple, Yom Kippur was a great day for
Jews all over the world. This memorial was preserved after the devastation, but the great priest was no
longer serving as an intermediary between man and God. Jews were directly addressing prayers and
confessions to God, but have not forgotten the rituals of the Temple of Jerusalem. A special prayer
(Seder aavoda), describes in detail the great priests rite, with his confession, the order of sacrifices,
and the way in which the priest and the people bow down to the ground when the Kohen Gadol
mentions the prohibited God s name. This is most likely the prayer shown it the

Essay on The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello
The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello
In several of Shakespeare s plays the writer introduces the notion of being considered an other , and
whether certain groups are in or out . This theme is significantly portrayed in the play Othello, in
which a black general living in Venice must constantly struggle to balance his dual nature of both
Moor and Venetian. It is apparent that before the play begins, Othello has not yet resolved his
duplicitous self image; however, throughout the action of the play, he is put in a maliciously designed
situation which causes his insecurities and self doubt to breed, allowing the Venetian?s stereotype of
the brutal and ignorant black man to consume Othello s eloquence and education adopted ... Show

(I.ii.70) of Othello, and Iago plays the part of honest and loyal friend, but secretly despises Othello
and crafts an intricate and devious plot for his ruin. The various opinions of Othello in the beginning
of the play show that despite the fact that he can hold a position of power in Venetian society, it is
nearly impossible for him to obtain universal respect from the people who will never accept his exotic
appearance and heritage.
It would be difficult for anyone to come to terms with such contradictory notions of themselves, and
Othello is no exception. Once Iago sets the stage for Othello?s fall, the negative emotions aroused in
the general cause him to release the lunatic black man that the insiders have feared lies within ?The
Moor?s? austere composure. Many critics have suggested that Othello?s extreme jealousy is what
amounts to his belief in Iago?s twisted tale of Desdemona?s infidelity and thus his ultimate downfall;
however, it seems more likely that it is Othello?s insecurity over his sense of self that allows this
manipulation to amount to such an extreme representation of character. Othello himself admits ?Rude
am I in my speech? (I.iii.81), failing to have the confidence to eloquently explicate his relationship
with Desdemona, although his words prove him to possess quite an impressive mastery of the English
language. He comments again on his

The Five Yamas of Hatha Yoga Essay
The Five Yamas of Hatha Yoga
Yoga is a discipline both involving physical and mental control that originated in India. The word
Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word, yug , meaning union and it means the joining of the
individual spirit with the universal spirit. The type of yoga known as Hatha Yoga, ( Ha sun, tha moon)
is what is most commonly practiced and this yoga involves the path of the mind and body and is the
most physical. There are eight limbs or steps of Hatha Yoga, the first step being the five Yamas. There
are five yamas and these concern your behavior to the world.
The first of the yamas is Ahimsa, whose translation from Sanskrit is non violence. The yama of

Yet, as I became more knowledgeable and wise, I gave up meat and haven t eaten it in ten years. The
reason I did so was simply because I believe in the sanctity and integrity of all life forms.
The second yama is Satya, whose translation from Sanskrit is truthfulness. It requires one to respect
the truth in thinking, action, and speech. Satya is a very large concept. It means that you should not
say something that you know is false. It also means that you should not lead others into error by
making them believe that you know something when you only presume. Saying the truth is extremely
difficult, for, before telling the truth you must know it through personal experimentation; you must
discover the truth about yourself and release false pretenses. The way I live truthfulness in my heart is
to be truthful to myself and to my heart. I need to do that before I can open up the truth to everyone
else. One of the ways in which I practice truthfulness to myself is by knowing and respecting my
abilities and limitations. For example, I am very aware of my knowledge of other subjects. In some
subjects such as math and physics I excel, however, in others, such as politics or history, I am not as
capable as other people. So, when discussions of subjects in which I am not so competent come up, I
don t pretend to act knowledgeable or well versed in that subject. Instead of being fake and inferior, I

Computer Access and Information Storage
Executive Summary
Computer access and information storage has drastically evolved with the increase of computer usage
and internet access across a wide range of areas including homes, businesses, schools and government
departments. These changes make requirements for more specific laws to regulate the use of
computers and storage of data as well as new forensic techniques and tools to investigate such
offences.
Following this, computer forensic investigators are becoming a necessity for lawyers and barristers as
support in both criminal and civil proceedings. What legislation exists in Ireland to handle computer
crime?
Ireland does not have exclusive law that would deal with computer crime as such, but has two laws
that can handle computer crimes. Criminal Damage Act 1991 (the 1991 Act ) deals with principal
offences in section 2 and section 5 while Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001 (the
2001 Act ) covers computer related offences in section 9 and section 48.
Criminal Damage Act 1991
Section 2 (1) A person who without lawful excuse damages any property belonging to another
intending to damage any such property or being reckless as to whether any such property would be
damaged shall be guilty of an offence.
While section 2 above does not call out specific reference to computer related crime, the definition in
the statute regarding property does include offences relating to data.
Section 5 (1) A person who without lawful excuse operates a

Indi The Architecture Of Community
1. Introduction
A City is not an accident but the result of coherent vision and aims.
Leon Krier, The Architecture of Community
India is moving towards fast paced economic growth. After India entered Open Market Operations
under the leadership of Prime Minister P.V. Narsimha Rao, economic policies endured lots of
opportunities for foreign direct investment further offering people new windows of employment and
growth of the nation overall. In the reports of McKinsey s India s Urban awakening, it has been
mentioned that many countries are facing problems of aging population whereas India comparatively
has a young and growing population which is a potential demographic advantage . For this advantage
to work wonders, India needs urban centers with better transportation, infrastructural facilities and
housing. In the very same report of McKinsey, it said that the urban economy will provide 85 percent
of total revenue, which will finance development nationwide . Thus report of McKinsey indirectly
states that cities are the engines of growth, hence with better transportation system and infrastructure
the urban development will enhance at a faster pace.
Public transportation takes a special place in city s smooth functioning, since it offers mobility and
access to people in accomplishing their daily tasks. Technological advancement and rise in incomes
have made people to rely more on private mode of transport due to poor services by public transport
agencies in India.

Bowlby s attachment theory Winnicott s stages of developmental
The following essay will aim to explore two developmental theories. It will also look at how they have
become relevant in counselling and psychotherapy practice, how they should be helpful and offer
support when a presenting issue occurs from a client, and how the counsellor will work in partnership
with the client. The chosen theories are based on John Bowlby s attachment theory and David
Winnicott s developmental theory.

This crucial attachment was believed to have a stimulus on subsequent attachments, thus resulting in a
higher significance than any other (Bowlby, 1951, cited in Holmes Fairfield, 2014). Bowlby went on
and devised the word monotropy which was to label the tendency of the child and have one main
attachment character with the succeeding psychopathology occurring later in life should the
attachment become damaged or fruitless.
Bowlby stated attachment was not shaped solely from the child s acceptance, but the behaviour of
another significant other, usually the mother or caregiver who had a crucial role in the child s growth.
The growth and development of the child is reliant on four stages of process from birth, Bowlby stated
these stages were where the child would bind to the mother or vice versa, he proposed one to two
months old in which the infant shows attachment to the mother by crying, sucking. The second stage
up to six months old the child has the focus on a mother figures and attaches to the one he or she has
more contact with. The third stage up to aged two named the secure base, where the child has its focus
on the where the main caregiver is when their welfare is under threat. The stage up over the age of two
is concerned on the child learning a behaviour and how this affects the relationship with their mothers
or attachments, this will be the grounding for subsequent relationships

Analysis Of Rancho Solano Preparatory School
Introduction
Rancho Solano Preparatory School (RSPS) was founded in 1954 and for decades was highly praised
by parents as being family oriented and community centered. In 2007, the school was sold to Meritas
Family of Schools and within the subsequent seven years changed its strategy to one with international
interests. Other changes in the school were not so positive and included an increased lack of
transparency with parents and teachers, which resulted in a gradual disconnect with the community
leading to anger and distrust on the part of parents. To address these issues, this paper will identify the
three major organizational subsystems and recommend changes to the subsystem most in need of
change. In addition, this paper will provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The RSPS website reveals an organizational structure that looks to be very bureaucratic with a
significant number of administrators and directors of various departments. The employee count for
RSPS is also much higher than competing schools such as #1 ranked private school Brophy College
Preparatory with 1,275 students and 150 staff (8.5 students per employee) ; #2 ranked private school,
Northwest Christian School with 1,410 students and 92 employees on one campus(15 students per
employee); and # 4 ranked private school, Xavier College Preparatory with 1,163 students and 155
employees on one campus (7.5 students per employee). Comparatively, RSPS has 1,137 students and
200 employees (5.7 students per employee) (Top 10 Arizona Companies: Private Schools, 2014). This
is not a horizontal organization that is becoming more and more common in today s business world.
The teacher subsystem should be changed into an adaptive organization or organic design
(Schermerhorn, 2011, p. 355). In the adaptive design, authority would be decentralized, with fewer
rules and procedures, wide spans of control, shared tasks, more teams and task forces, and more
informal and personal coordination (Schermerhorn, 2011, p. 355). The planned change would result in
improved interpersonal connection with students, their parents, and other teachers. Administrators,
while serving an important function would not be the focus. In the case of RSPS, one could argue that
administrators have

Contractors are responsible for the safety of their employees and the people near or at the work place.
Part of their job is to ensure that equipment, materials, and the work environment is safe as well as

Hard hats are used where there is a potential for objects falling from above and getting a bump to the

Crane Safety
Cranes are mainly used for lifting heavy things and transporting them to other places. Cranes are

Uc Davis Rhetoric Presence Summary
Rhetoric Awareness Among Scientists: an ethnographic study describing the language used in the
Center for Neuroscience at UC Davis Synopsis The Center for Neuroscience (CN) is a complex, large
community that sparked my interest to do an ethnographic endeavor. This group provides benefits to
our society by conducting modern neurobiology research and coaching future neurobiologists. The
purpose of this ethnographic study is to have a better understanding of how this discourse community
functions as an entity. My study will focus on the methods that the CN uses to communicate. As a
member of the CN, I want to take a step back and explore, from the perspective of an outsider, the

with identical walls decorated with posters. The 40 by 60 posters are an example of a genre employed
by this community (Artifact 1). Every wall is covered in colorful posters with published scientific
work from members of the community. As I walked to Dr. Gray s office, the posters in the perimeter
only had work from his laboratory. The same trend appeared for other labs. This suggests that the
laboratories have designated spaces where they can highlight their contribution to the overall goals of
the CN. The posters serve as a method of communication among the members since they can easily

In the early immigration, the Fraser River gold rush is perhaps the largest event. It was an overall
positive event, and the Chinese were a large part of the business of the time. They were

Prison Population In America Essay
How does prison population in America is different from others?
America nowadays is one of the most populated countries in the world and advanced in technology,
but sometimes bad things happen to good people and that s terrible, and something should be done

America have a 4% of population in the world, and 25% incarcerated in the USA, it is the country
with highest incarceration rate in the world.

In America, and also in Mexico many institutions accept them to send letters when they can t go visit.
However, guidelines exist as to what constitutes acceptable mail, and these policies are strictly

Saturday Mornings My body went numb. I could hear voices asking me if I was okay, but all I could

The stretcher was rolled in with a paramedic straddled across the patient, pumping on the man s chest.
I often saw broken bones, stomach pains, infections; however, nothing like this. Doctors, nurses, and x
ray technicians rushed into the patient s room. The man was surrounded by a team of thirty health

Essay On Youth Crime In Canada
Youth crime in Canada is an interesting and diverse topic regarding criminology and sociology. Youth
crime comes in many forms and includes various reasoning behind the crimes committed. The Young
Offenders Act is the previous act set forth regarding laws about youth crime in Canada. The Youth
Criminal Justice Act is the current act enforcing laws regarding youth crime in Canada today. The
articles I have chosen all relate back to the Young Offenders Act and the Criminal Justice Act
regarding different areas of youth crime in Canada. The first article researched looks at and evaluates
the Young Offenders Act and the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the much needed provisions made to
ensure proper and fair dealings with youth crime. The next article ... Show more content on

The article also researches which act the judges tend to be fairer in giving probation sentences. These
articles all fall into the context of both criminal justice youth acts in Canada but research different
areas of youth crime in Canada. The Young Offenders Act and the Youth Criminal Justice Act are both
very important when looking at youth crime in Canada today. The Youth Criminal Justice Act has
taken over the Young Offenders Act for various reasons. The Young Offenders Act posed many issues
regarding youth crime in Canada. According to Bala, Carrington Roberts (2009), The Young
Offenders Act, which came into force in 1984, was a highly controversial statute. While conservative
politicians criticized the law for being soft on youth crime, there were also concerns that, under the
YOA, use of courts and custody had risen, and by the early years of the millennium, Canada had one
of the lowest rates of youth diversion and one of the highest rates of youth custody in the world (p.

Thor Video Analysis
The video begins with Heimdall standing in front of the gate as Thor and his friends approaching him.
Loki tries to talk to Heimdall however, he fails and Thor takes over the conversation and enters the
gate. Heimdall then states that the bridge will remain closed if he finds out there s any threat that will
harm Asgard. The Heimdall then places his sword into the ground that opens the bridge which can
teleport Thor and his friends to another planet. Here, I will be focusing on actors/acting and costumes.
Every actor in this video represents its role of character by their physical appearances and their
performance. Thor for example, Chris Hemsworth, a masculine white male that clearly represent the
physical appearance of a God. Moreover, Hemsworth s acting shows he s dominance as the heir of
Asgard who will later be crowned as the King. For instance, in the scene when Loki tries to talk to
Heimdall, Thor takes over the conversation by saying, Enough . At this moment, the character
blocking also tells the audience who is dominating the conversation and it is Thor. At first he stands
behind Loki, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The golden armor shows his almighty power of the guardian that keep safe of Asgard, preventing any
threats from entering from other plantets. Unlike any other characters, one can tell that Heimdall s
costumes has the greatest protection among all. Furthermore, Thor who s costume shows he s power
among he s friends and brother. Being as the only character with a red cape, this shows he s class is
higher than any others. Moreover, the viewers can tell from his armor he is a warrior, who is fearless.
Because comparing to Loki s costume, he isn t wearing any armor that can protect him. This means
Loki is more likely to be a character who uses his brain and tongue more than waving a sword.
However, in this scene we can tell from both of his acting and his costume, Loki fails to do

The main theological function of the plague narratives in Exodus is to bring about recognition of God
to the Egyptians and the Israelites. The author of Exodus has wonderfully used a well structured
literary style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the plague narrative also serves a function of demonstrating who Yahweh is to His own
people. Israel must also know Yahweh as we see in Exodus 10:2. Throughout the narrative, we see
many allusions to the Egyptian gods and the impotence of these gods before God of Israel.9 There are
multiple gods in the Egyptian temple. As an example, in the first plague, the Nile River was turned
into blood. The river was an important source of fertility to the land of Egypt. Thus, it was dedicated
to many gods (Osiris, Hapi, Sepek etc.) of the Egyptians.10 By turning the river into blood, it
eloquently reveals the power of Yahweh and the inferiority of Egyptian gods. For the Egyptians who
looked to various gods associated with the Nile, this event would have produced many questions for
their faith. Even the magicians had to acknowledge in the third plague that it is the finger of God as
they could not replicate it (Exod. 8:19). As for the Israelites, the plague narrative is a reminder of the
mighty and awesome power of God who had chosen them and kept His promise. A reminder that
would help to strengthen their faith in Him.
Each plague brings deeper knowledge and understanding of Yahweh. They are not simply acts of
judgment, but something that God uses to reveal Himself. Because they are more than just
punishments, they fail to actually secure Israel s release each time. As signs , they are used to

In the early 1960 s and 1970 s, shopping mall had gained popularity as a tool to revitalize derelict and
abandoned areas within urban core. Shopping mall was built to rejuvenate downtown main street or a
once popular traditional shopping street. In the later period of twentieth century, there was a lifestyle
shift whereby customers were increasingly demanding and knowledgeable and expected better
shopping environment with better service and interaction. Shopping mall was expected to be
accommodating for their needs of basic necessities as well as leisure. In the 1990 s, the idea of urban
entertainment center which combined shopping and entertainment had become very popular and

Case Study Of PCI DSS Compliance
PCI DSS Compliance and How to Become PCI DSS Compliant.
What is PCI Compliance?
PCI compliance is officially known as Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). It s
a proprietary information security standard for all organizations that store, process or transmit branded
credit cards from the major card schemes including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover.
It s a universal security standard that was first set up in December 2004 when the credit card
companies came together to form Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) the
organization behind PCI DSS. The most current PCI DSS (version 3.2) came out in April 2016.
Before the formal security standard was established, the different credit card companies had their own

An Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV) is an organization with a set of security services and tools
(ASV scan solutions) that conduct external vulnerability scanning services to validate with the
external scanning requirements.
As for if you need it, it depends.
If you re applying for an SAQ A EP, you need it. It s one of the questions in the form and while AOC
A it doesn t necessarily mean that you need to be performing scans by approved ASVs.
So, from the point of view of SAQ/AOC A, an ASV scan is not needed. At the same time, some
acquirers (payment providers) have it as one of the requirements to use their services. Again, it s
important to your providers directly even if you are applying for SAQ A. The scanning vendors ASV
scan solution is tested and approved by PCI SSC before an ASV added to list.

each has their own slightly different rules.

Ethics Of Patriotism Essay
Comparative Ethics of Patriotism
I. Introduction What is the moral worth of patriotism? Is there a substantive difference between the
patriotism of totalitarian and liberal countries? Do the soldiers in those countries experience patriotism
differently? In this paper, I will attempt to affirm the moral worth of patriotism, find the exact
differences between totalitarian and liberal patriotism, and determine how this difference might
manifest itself within the citizens of either country. Our paper structure will begin with using a
common definition of patriotism, and will make an initial attempt to argue for a difference between
liberal and totalitarian instances of patriotism. When this attempt fails, we will more clearly and
carefully define patriotism, and explore the challenges in assessing its moral worth. Then, after a re
conception of patriotism, we will return to the question of patriotic differences between totalitarian
and liberal governments. As a final note to the reader, no specific moral theory will be employed.
Instead, the priority in this analysis will be focused more closely on uncovering relations between
citizen and state that have implications in any moral system not just noting instances where patriotism
seems to violate the specific rules of one moral system.
II. An Initial Definition of Patriotism It helps, when discussing definitions, to pull from a trusted
source; in this case, it will be the Sanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, and more

Comparison Of Immigrants And US Immigration System
The United States and Canada immigration system is both complex and kind of similar to one another.
The United States is a huge immigration destination for a lot of legal and illegal immigrants. The US
has been a huge immigration location for a large amount of time now. Canada is not far behind the
United States when it comes down to immigration although the US has more. The US legal
immigrants have a green card to be a United States citizen and have the rights as a United States
citizen. In the United States immigrants help benefit major business by the great labor they put in. The
United States immigrants are very diverse with the Asians being the most. There is a lot of illegal

The US Department of State received more than 13 million applications for the 2010 Green Card
Lottery, whose winners are granted permanent residence in the country. This gives a good explanation
on why the United States have so many immigrants and it also shows the US is a popular place to
immigrants. The United States have an anti discrimination policy for immigrants which gives them the
same opportunity as US citizens. This is part of the reason the United States is a major immigrant
desired location to become a citizen. The citizenship process takes a little time and some people do not
qualify for citizenship. This causes illegal immigrants to migrate into the United States and they do
not have any form of citizenship. The US Homeland Security Department estimates that in 2010 there
were around 10.8 million illegal residents in the United States. The United States Illegal immigrants is

Epistemological Assumptions Focus On What Can Be Acquired...
Epistemological assumptions focus on what can be known and how knowledge can be acquired (Bell,
8). I am a positivist; we believe that knowledge is found via empirical observations (obtained through
the senses). Positivism follows an identical approach as the study of natural sciences in the testing of a
theory. Though their is a difference between the two fields the deductive approach works just as well
in both. You create a theory, generate a hypothesis, test with empirical data, and see whether or not it
confirms or rejects it (6). If it is confirmed by empirical means, then it is knowledge (9). I believe that
the world can be objectively experienced and described, via quantitative research: collecting data,
transforming it into statistics which then formulate into facts and uncover patterns (14). Ontology as
Bell states is split up into two camps, by two questions, firstly: is social reality real, or is it a set of
mental constructions? (12) Secondly, is social reality pre existing or is it created through our actions?
(12) I am an objectivist; I believe there is a pre existing social reality, were social phenomena exist
outside the influence of social actors. My assumptions, would impact my choice of research design by
limiting my selection. For me to research a social phenomenon, I would need a research design that
would allow me to study it as a physical object. Something that provides a lot of quantitative data, and
that if given to other researchers would reveal the

Mary Ward Art Analysis
Our art teachers are pretty cool; they care about the students and the creative process. This is a brief

Powell received her Bachelor of Applied Arts at Ryerson University, studying image arts in
photography. She then went on to Queen s University to receive her Bachelor of Education in
Technological Education. Her artwork has mainly consisted of photography, although she has also
dabbled in film. She works in the modern digital age as well as exploring historical processes of
photography. These include, polaroids, hand colouring, using the dark rooms to develop film, and
many other alternatives. Powell has a particular interest in the abandoned, places or things that may
appear ugly on the outside but have their own weird hidden treasures. She explains that it s neat to see
how nature takes back these places. She also photographs small towns and the more rural lifestyle. My
art isn t deep , she says, but it s about finding beauty in everything, beauty in every form . Powell
spent her early years taking portraitures in the wedding industry. Now, she has her own business
alongside teaching and having a family. With this busy lifestyle it is amazing that Powell s perspective
on beauty is unchanged. Her perspective is something unique and important something that everyone
should see more of. The answer then is yes, the Mary Ward art teachers do have a life after 2:50. They
have allowed us to glimpse into their personal life through their art. Their art has allowed us to know a

Patrick Gillespie s Let Poetry Die
Patrick Gillespie, in his article Let Poetry Die, argues that poetry is dying, and we should let it. He
explains that the public lost interest in poetry because modern poets refused to accept their criticism.
This caused the quality of poetry to decrease. Gillespie believes that the solution to this problem is to
[l]et [p]oetry [d]ie [s]o that it can be reborn (Gillespie 4). Gillespie s first claim in his article is that
poetry is being forgotten by the public.
He claims that as far as the public is concerned, poetry died with the modernists, for only a few
passing pedestrians could name a poet from the last 50 to 60 years (Gillespie 1). He then states that if
you [a]sk anyone to name a novelist of the last half century, ... names will come tumbling, but if you
[a]sk anyone to name a contemporary poet, ... you will be lucky to scrape by with John Ashbery
(Gillespie 1). Even though John Ashbery is considered one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, he
is unknown to most people. Gillespie believes that the public is forgetting poetry. ... Show more

He states that the Poetry Foundation was headed toward irrelevance, at best, and oblivion at worst, but
a large donation by Ruth Lilly helped the foundation and is the only reason it is what it is today
(Gillespie 2). Because Gillespie believes that poetry is being ignored by the public, he thinks that the
Poetry Foundation should not have been saved by Lilly s donation. He then continues to criticize Lilly
s contribution, claiming that it thwarted [t]he survival of the fittest, for the Poetry Foundation is
surviving and flourishing because of Lilly s wealth, not because of any intrinsic or hard earned merit
(Gillespie 2). Gillespie believes that the Poetry Foundation does not deserve to survive, for it exists
because of Lilly s donation, not because the public wants it to

He called for the creation of a Mediterranean union, of which Turkey could be a part (Bowen 11)
Sarkozy: The future we have in the Mediterranean is a choice between the worst war or the best peace
(Carbone 165). Sarkozy is a strong proponent of environmental improvements by means of interstate
cooperation. He proposes creating a World Bank for nuclear fuel under the auspices of the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to which nations would contribute financially or in kind,
and it would guarantee shipments of civilian nuclear fuel as well as the reprocessing of fissile
materials to all nations that desire to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes (Sarkozy 201).
Transnational interdependence and regimes like this would help with global interests. Promoting
global interests and highlighting moral responsibility in an effort to foster cooperation is at the center
of Sarkozy s plan. He calls for the leading hegemony to take point on this issue and set an example for
the rest to follow. We need the United States to wake up and make this battle for the protection of our
planet a battle of American democracy (Sarkozy 205). The hegemonic power is in a unique position to
influence the action of other states and is therefore responsible for upholding moral behavior. Dire to
environmental protection is the cooperation of all state actors, not just the cooperation of the United
States. He went on to threaten to take action against

Some mollusks and arthropods have blue blood because they have copper in their blood. Copper may

  • 2. The Sonnet And Early Modern Literature The beginning of the 1500 s became an important time for the sonnet and early modern literature. Thomas Wyatt and Henry Howard were the first to introduce the form to England by translating the sonnets of the overtly influential Italian poet Petrarch, giving a firm foundation for many others including that of William Shakespeare to expand and contrast. Consisting of fourteen lines, the sonnet follows a specific rhyme scheme and rhythm. Although seemingly compact, the sonnet is used by many to express both the thought and emotion of the poet, from this it is evident that although superficially short in structure, the poet is still able to elaborate to an extent that touches the reader making it sincere to the reader at first, however as we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many ways the sonnet was as much about the cleverness of the poet as it was about his devotion to his beloved. From this we can see that the formal cleverness does attract the reader as well as its elaboration, with this being said the sincerity of the sonnet remains a constant theme in the sonnets. During Shakespeare s sonnets he makes the sincerity of the sonnets known through his use of illusion, particularly during sonnet 130 where he expresses a somewhat blunt honesty, this honesty presents the notion of sincerity in Shakespeare s sonnets, however as we explore them further the insincerity surrounding the sonnets becomes increasingly more evident. Sonnet 130 is used to shock the audiences with a surprisingly honest outlook in regards to his love as a way of expressing his view that her inner beauty is more important to him than any of her bodily features. It could be possible to argue that perhaps Shakespeare s sonnets are sincere and as an alternative it is Petrarch s sonnets that remain insincere as a result of the unrealistic expectation and the blindness the narrator feels when referring to the physical attributes of Laura. Shakespeare is simply demonstrating realism as he speaks of a real woman and not of a flawless unrealistic woman made from the creation of convention at the time. Therefore, reality remains greatly significant when we think about perfection, nothing is perfect in this world but rather we are faced with the concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Athletic Schedule Essay NEWPORT BEACH, CA The Newport Mesa Unified School District abolished a rower s right to have an Athletic Schedule. All school athletes get the Athletic Schedule which gives them an open 7th and 8th period. Many of the athletes given this schedule don t even practice every day of the week, like crew. By ignoring the rower s need of the Athletic Schedule , NMUSD is implying that the district doesn t think that rowing is a sport. The NMUSD policy states that students should be able to show that, the proposed Independent Study Physical Education program is not available in a District program, is not solely recreational, and that such activity is in preparation for local, statewide, national, or international competition through a recognized association . Rowing is run through the USRowing Association. The Newport Aquatic Center Jr Crew competes in regional competitions to compete in Youth Nationals and eventually compete in the jr world competition. Crew has been ignored as a sport simply due to the fact that it is run outside the campus of Newport Harbor. NMUSD stated that, Instruction must take place in a supervised facility. The rowing team practices at the Newport Aquatic Center, which is supervised at all times. Rowers practice 5 days a week after school for three hours. This practice includes rowing on the water, erging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Almost every country which competes in the Olympics has a crew team. NMUSD does not accept the fact that rowing is a sport. The current athletes on the NAC Jr Crew that attend Newport Harbor are being wronged by the district. A sport is a sport whether or not it is threaded through the high school. On top of the denial of an Athletic Schedule to rowers, the district has given the NAC Jr Crew little to no information on why rower s schedules changed. The rowing community is large at Newport Harbor, and as Golan puts it, the school is isolating part of its own population for no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Yom Kipur Analysis Jews and prayer for Yom Kippur, 1940 Warsaw The main motive of this photograph is essentially a global history of the Jewish people. It is very specific, sad and instructive. In order to properly clarify this picture, we have to start from the beginning, shed light on the history of the Jewish people, and pay particular attention to the dark times during the Holocaust, and particularly refer to the Jewish understanding of the holiday. Jewish history tells us about how the Jewish people lived from the time when they appeared up to the present day. The nation is like a big family, and a large family can be compared to a tree. This is the way that the Jewish people formed. It exists for more than three thousand years. They used to have their own country called Eretz Yisrael, in which the whole people spoke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Yom Kippur had remained only as a holiday when the priest prays for forgiveness for the sins of the people, it would never have survived the destruction of the Temple. However, as it was already going through a long evolution, people have increasingly participated in the ceremonies, so the holiday became more important. Shortly before the destruction of the Temple, Yom Kippur was a great day for Jews all over the world. This memorial was preserved after the devastation, but the great priest was no longer serving as an intermediary between man and God. Jews were directly addressing prayers and confessions to God, but have not forgotten the rituals of the Temple of Jerusalem. A special prayer (Seder aavoda), describes in detail the great priests rite, with his confession, the order of sacrifices, and the way in which the priest and the people bow down to the ground when the Kohen Gadol mentions the prohibited God s name. This is most likely the prayer shown it the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay on The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello In several of Shakespeare s plays the writer introduces the notion of being considered an other , and whether certain groups are in or out . This theme is significantly portrayed in the play Othello, in which a black general living in Venice must constantly struggle to balance his dual nature of both Moor and Venetian. It is apparent that before the play begins, Othello has not yet resolved his duplicitous self image; however, throughout the action of the play, he is put in a maliciously designed situation which causes his insecurities and self doubt to breed, allowing the Venetian?s stereotype of the brutal and ignorant black man to consume Othello s eloquence and education adopted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (I.ii.70) of Othello, and Iago plays the part of honest and loyal friend, but secretly despises Othello and crafts an intricate and devious plot for his ruin. The various opinions of Othello in the beginning of the play show that despite the fact that he can hold a position of power in Venetian society, it is nearly impossible for him to obtain universal respect from the people who will never accept his exotic appearance and heritage. It would be difficult for anyone to come to terms with such contradictory notions of themselves, and Othello is no exception. Once Iago sets the stage for Othello?s fall, the negative emotions aroused in the general cause him to release the lunatic black man that the insiders have feared lies within ?The Moor?s? austere composure. Many critics have suggested that Othello?s extreme jealousy is what amounts to his belief in Iago?s twisted tale of Desdemona?s infidelity and thus his ultimate downfall; however, it seems more likely that it is Othello?s insecurity over his sense of self that allows this manipulation to amount to such an extreme representation of character. Othello himself admits ?Rude am I in my speech? (I.iii.81), failing to have the confidence to eloquently explicate his relationship with Desdemona, although his words prove him to possess quite an impressive mastery of the English language. Yet, as I became more knowledgeable and wise, I gave up meat and haven t eaten it in ten years. The reason I did so was simply because I believe in the sanctity and integrity of all life forms. The second yama is Satya, whose translation from Sanskrit is truthfulness. It requires one to respect the truth in thinking, action, and speech. Satya is a very large concept. It means that you should not say something that you know is false. It also means that you should not lead others into error by making them believe that you know something when you only presume. Saying the truth is extremely difficult, for, before telling the truth you must know it through personal experimentation; you must discover the truth about yourself and release false pretenses. The way I live truthfulness in my heart is to be truthful to myself and to my heart. I need to do that before I can open up the truth to everyone else. One of the ways in which I practice truthfulness to myself is by knowing and respecting my abilities and limitations. For example, I am very aware of my knowledge of other subjects. Computer Access and Information Storage Executive Summary Computer access and information storage has drastically evolved with the increase of computer usage and internet access across a wide range of areas including homes, businesses, schools and government departments. These changes make requirements for more specific laws to regulate the use of computers and storage of data as well as new forensic techniques and tools to investigate such offences. Following this, computer forensic investigators are becoming a necessity for lawyers and barristers as support in both criminal and civil proceedings. What legislation exists in Ireland to handle computer crime? Ireland does not have exclusive law that would deal with computer crime as such, but has two laws that can handle computer crimes. Criminal Damage Act 1991 (the 1991 Act ) deals with principal offences in section 2 and section 5 while Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001 (the 2001 Act ) covers computer related offences in section 9 and section 48. Criminal Damage Act 1991 Section 2 (1) A person who without lawful excuse damages any property belonging to another intending to damage any such property or being reckless as to whether any such property would be damaged shall be guilty of an offence. Therefore, the plague narrative also serves a function of demonstrating who Yahweh is to His own people. Israel must also know Yahweh as we see in Exodus 10:2. Throughout the narrative, we see many allusions to the Egyptian gods and the impotence of these gods before God of Israel.9 There are multiple gods in the Egyptian temple. As an example, in the first plague, the Nile River was turned into blood. The river was an important source of fertility to the land of Egypt. Thus, it was dedicated to many gods (Osiris, Hapi, Sepek etc.) of the Egyptians.10 By turning the river into blood, it eloquently reveals the power of Yahweh and the inferiority of Egyptian gods. For the Egyptians who looked to various gods associated with the Nile, this event would have produced many questions for their faith. Even the magicians had to acknowledge in the third plague that it is the finger of God as they could not replicate it (Exod. 8:19). As for the Israelites, the plague narrative is a reminder of the mighty and awesome power of God who had chosen them and kept His promise. A reminder that would help to strengthen their faith in Him. Each plague brings deeper knowledge and understanding of Yahweh. They are not simply acts of judgment, but something that God uses to reveal Himself. As for if you need it, it depends. If you re applying for an SAQ A EP, you need it. It s one of the questions in the form and while AOC A it doesn t necessarily mean that you need to be performing scans by approved ASVs. So, from the point of view of SAQ/AOC A, an ASV scan is not needed. At the same time, some acquirers (payment providers) have it as one of the requirements to use their services. Again, it s important to your providers directly even if you are applying for SAQ A. The scanning vendors ASV scan solution is tested and approved by PCI SSC before an ASV added to list. • 27. Ethics Of Patriotism Essay Comparative Ethics of Patriotism I. Introduction What is the moral worth of patriotism? Is there a substantive difference between the patriotism of totalitarian and liberal countries? Do the soldiers in those countries experience patriotism differently? In this paper, I will attempt to affirm the moral worth of patriotism, find the exact differences between totalitarian and liberal patriotism, and determine how this difference might manifest itself within the citizens of either country. Our paper structure will begin with using a common definition of patriotism, and will make an initial attempt to argue for a difference between liberal and totalitarian instances of patriotism. When this attempt fails, we will more clearly and carefully define patriotism, and explore the challenges in assessing its moral worth. Then, after a re conception of patriotism, we will return to the question of patriotic differences between totalitarian and liberal governments. As a final note to the reader, no specific moral theory will be employed. Instead, the priority in this analysis will be focused more closely on uncovering relations between citizen and state that have implications in any moral system not just noting instances where patriotism seems to violate the specific rules of one moral system. II. An Initial Definition of Patriotism It helps, when discussing definitions, to pull from a trusted source; in this case, it will be the Sanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, and more ... • 29. Epistemological Assumptions Focus On What Can Be Acquired... Epistemological assumptions focus on what can be known and how knowledge can be acquired (Bell, 8). I am a positivist; we believe that knowledge is found via empirical observations (obtained through the senses). Positivism follows an identical approach as the study of natural sciences in the testing of a theory. Though their is a difference between the two fields the deductive approach works just as well in both. You create a theory, generate a hypothesis, test with empirical data, and see whether or not it confirms or rejects it (6). If it is confirmed by empirical means, then it is knowledge (9). I believe that the world can be objectively experienced and described, via quantitative research: collecting data, transforming it into statistics which then formulate into facts and uncover patterns (14). Ontology as Bell states is split up into two camps, by two questions, firstly: is social reality real, or is it a set of mental constructions? (12) Secondly, is social reality pre existing or is it created through our actions? (12) I am an objectivist; I believe there is a pre existing social reality, were social phenomena exist outside the influence of social actors. My assumptions, would impact my choice of research design by limiting my selection. For me to research a social phenomenon, I would need a research design that would allow me to study it as a physical object. Something that provides a lot of quantitative data, and that if given to other researchers would reveal the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Patrick Gillespie s Let Poetry Die Patrick Gillespie, in his article Let Poetry Die, argues that poetry is dying, and we should let it. He explains that the public lost interest in poetry because modern poets refused to accept their criticism. This caused the quality of poetry to decrease. Gillespie believes that the solution to this problem is to [l]et [p]oetry [d]ie [s]o that it can be reborn (Gillespie 4). Gillespie s first claim in his article is that poetry is being forgotten by the public. He claims that as far as the public is concerned, poetry died with the modernists, for only a few passing pedestrians could name a poet from the last 50 to 60 years (Gillespie 1). He then states that if you [a]sk anyone to name a novelist of the last half century, ... names will come tumbling, but if you [a]sk anyone to name a contemporary poet, ... you will be lucky to scrape by with John Ashbery (Gillespie 1). Even though John Ashbery is considered one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, he is unknown to most people. Gillespie believes that the public is forgetting poetry. ... He then continues to criticize Lilly s contribution, claiming that it thwarted [t]he survival of the fittest, for the Poetry Foundation is surviving and flourishing because of Lilly s wealth, not because of any intrinsic or hard earned merit (Gillespie 2). He proposes creating a World Bank for nuclear fuel under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to which nations would contribute financially or in kind, and it would guarantee shipments of civilian nuclear fuel as well as the reprocessing of fissile materials to all nations that desire to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes (Sarkozy 201). Transnational interdependence and regimes like this would help with global interests. Promoting global interests and highlighting moral responsibility in an effort to foster cooperation is at the center of Sarkozy s plan. He calls for the leading hegemony to take point on this issue and set an example for the rest to follow. We need the United States to wake up and make this battle for the protection of our planet a battle of American democracy (Sarkozy 205). The hegemonic power is in a unique position to influence the action of other states and is therefore responsible for upholding moral behavior.
