Events, Conferences Exhibitions
Unit 17 Events, conferences amp; exhibitions Update on events, conferences and exhibitions P1, P2,
P3, M1 amp; D1 P1 Describe the event, conference and exhibitions environment in the UK Types of
event Corporate hospitality Corporate hospitality is a private event held by corporations and
businesses to entertain and build good relationships with their staff and clients and to encourage new
businesses. For example a company hires a venue such as the Hinitze Hall in the Natural History
Museum which offers galleries for a range of evening events with catering facilities and staff which
will be used only by the business team. Team building events Team building events are events in
which members of a business bond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These events are not always open to the public but aim to generate press coverage and publicity.
Music events and festivals range from popular music concerts to classical performances. This includes
festival such as Reading and Leeds. The music magazine NME provides information about all the
upcoming festivals and concerts on their website. Wedding fairs are often held in hotels because it is
easier for customers to access the wedding related goods and services when they are put into one
place. Reunions are popular events which help people to get in touch with friends they have not seen
and spoken for many years. Reunions are held in venues with hospitality facilities like any other
event. An example is the Friends Reunited website. Types of conference Political conferences Political
conferences are party political conferences which are held every year for a general meeting of a
political party. The conferences are attended by certain delegates who represent the party membership.
In most political parties, the party conference is the highest decision making body of the organisation,
tasked with electing or nominating the party s leaders or leadership bodies. Popular venues which are
hired for political conferences include Brighton, Blackpool or Bournemouth which mainly rely on
conference business outside the summer holiday season so such conferences provide significant
revenue.

Students Should Not Be A Classroom
Young people misbehaving in school has become common in the twenty first century in Australia and
around the world. According to Tsouloupas (2013) student behaviour can be described as a form of
distractibility, disengagement, or disobedience in the classroom (p.164). Many students misbehave in
school due to the different events occurring in their lives. However, the way teachers choose to
manage a classroom can have an impact on the student s behaviour. Different factors can lead to
young people misbehaving in school. This paper will draw on various academic articles that will
demonstrate how young people misbehave in school. Also a type of methodology was conducted in
order to demonstrate other individual s thoughts about why young people misbehave in school .
An interview process was conducted where six different individuals (mixed gender) were interviewed
in order to examine their opinions regarding Why do young people misbehave in school . The
participants were given a consent form to sign in order for the interviewer to use for assignment
purposes. The participants varied because there was one teacher, one pre service teacher, one student,
one parent and one case worker. Each of these participants had different opinions and answers when
they were asked why young people misbehave in school . The strong opinions where from the two
teachers and the two parents based on their experiences. There were many similarities and differences

Artificial Neural Networks ( Ann )
CHAPTER 5 Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) 5.1 Machine Learning In machine learning, systems
are trained to infer patterns from observational data. A particularly simple type of pattern, a mapping
between input and output, can be learnt through a process called supervised learning. A supervised
learning system is given training data consisting of example inputs and the corresponding outputs, and
comes up with a model to explain those data (a process called function approximation). It does this by
choosing from a class of model specified by the system s designer. [Nature. ANN 4] 5.1.1 Machine
Learning Applied to the Air Engine The rapid growth of data sets means that machine learning can
now use complex model classes and tackle highly non trivial inference problems. Such problems are
usually characterized by several factors: The data are multi dimensional; the underlying pattern is
complex (for instance, it might be nonlinear or changeable); and the designer has only weak prior
knowledge about the problem in particular, a mechanistic understanding is lacking. [Nature, ANN 4]
5.2 Overview of ANN Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are a branch of the field known as Artificial
Intelligence (AI) which may also consists of Fuzzy logic (FL) and Genetic Algorithms (GA). ANN are
based on the basic model of the human brain with capability of generalization and learning. The
purpose of this simulation to the simple model of human neural cell is to acquire the intelligent

Freedom in Mark Twain s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Nothing is more important in the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer than freedom. Freedom plays
an enormous role in the book Tom Sawyer. Whether it is people earning freedom or people not being
granted it, every young boy in St. Petersburg wanted some form of freedom. The word freedom means
the power to say and do what you want. Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper are all boys
seeking freedom. Freedom is the key reason the boys run away to Jackson Island. Freedom is one of
the main themes in the book.
Tom is always looking for ways to earn freedom. One of the main plots in the story is Tom s quest for
freedom. Freedom gives Tom a sense of accomplishment after he finishes a deed or task.
The secret to happiness is freedom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Tom did not have freedom the book would not be nearly as interesting.
Cardiff Hill is the one of the boy s symbols of freedom. Cardiff Hill is a lush, green hill that the boys
can escape to and do what ever they want primarily relax. Tom is involuntarily obligated to do his
chores and to be well behaved. One time Tom was feeling so stressed he ran off to Cardiff Hill instead
of going to school. This is a big part of the story because it is when Tom dreams of becoming a pirate,
and also when some of his superstitions are introduced. In the book, Tom usually takes his freedom
whether he has earned It or not.
One of the other main characters in the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, has
freedom pretty much by default. He never had a mother that cared for him and his father is the town
drunkard thus he is an orphan. He thinks life is too based on how you look, act, and how civilized you
are. At one point in the story, the Widow Douglass takes in Huck Finn. The widow tries to transform
him into a civilized person but in the end his old ways reappear and it is too much for him. He doesn t
have to go to school, do chores, or do any form of work. His life fits perfectly into the definition of
freedom.
This Mississippi River resembles the type of lifestyle all the kids in St. Petersburg would like to live.
The Mississippi River runs slowly, freely, and relaxed just like how all the boys would like to describe
their lives.

Seven Years War Essay example
The Seven Years War proved to be a crossroads in the history of British colonial rule in America.
Britain was victorious, but after defeating her French foes (along with their Indian allies), Britain was
left to contemplate the ramifications of a war that would leave her relationship with her American
colonies altered forever. This change would eventually lead to conflict between the colonies and
Britain, and ultimately the Declaration of American Independence.
In order to understand how the relationship between Britain and the American Colonies became so
strained, we must first examine the nature of Britain s imperial authority. Economic relations between
the two entities were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self reliance was a commodity that was little known in colonial America before the war, and now that
the colonists had had a taste of it, they were understandably slow to relinquish it. The seeds of conflict
had been planted.
There was another by product of the war for Britain; her national debt more than doubled during the
course of the conflict. At a time when Britain was starting to bend beneath the weight of the debt, it
was only a matter of time before parliament looked to the colonies to help shoulder some of the price
incurred in their defense. The Sugar and Stamp Acts were the first of many measures to tax the
colonists. The Townshend Duties and the Tea Act would follow. While these measures outraged the
colonists because of their monetary implications, it was the constitutional implications brought on by
the Acts that were most offensive to the colonists. Until after the Seven Years War, the colonists had
been left to essentially tax themselves. Now the colonists had a rallying cry, as they deplored the idea
of no taxation without representation. In 1765 the Stamp Act Congress was held, and in a bid of utter
defiance the representatives agreed that the colonial legislative assemblies alone had the right to tax
the colonies. Parliament repealed the Stamp Act, but only after agreeing to pass the Declaratory Act,
which informed the colonies that Britain did in fact have the right to legislate for the

Comparing The Earl Of Rochester And The Imperfect Enjoyment
Literature of the English Restoration offers the example of a number of writers who wrote for a
courtly audience: literary production, particularly in learned imitation of classical models, was part of
the court culture of King Charles II. The fact of a shared model explains the remarkable similarities
between The Imperfect Enjoyment by the Earl of Rochester and The Disappointment by Aphra Behn
remarkable only because readers are surprised to read one poem about male sexual impotence from
the late seventeenth century, let alone two examples of this genre by well known courtly writers. In
fact, Richard Quaintance presents ten more examples by lesser known poets as he defines the literary
sub genre of the neo Classical imperfect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Male sexual impotence would seem at first to be an unpromising subject for poetry, especially poetry
which could loosely be defined as neo Classical and is based on compositional models from the
Classical world of ancient Greece and Rome. Yet scholars such as Richard Quaintance and Claude
Rawson have traced the history of a literary sub genre within the neo Classical tradition that does deal
with male sexual impotence, whether through failure to achieve erection or through premature
ejaculation. This literary sub genre includes Restoration poems like Aphra Behn s The Disappointment
and the Earl of Rochester s Imperfect Enjoyment, and Quaintance in fact dubs the genre the neo
Classical imperfect enjoyment poem after Rochester s title. Quaintance situates both Rochester and
Behn within French neo Classical models (Quaintance 190), but actual Latin works were their ultimate
models: Rawson notes that Ovid himself had written a poem on the subject in his third book of love
elegies, Amores III.vii, and Petronius, the great courtier satirist of Nero s Rome, had structured his
Satyricon as a parody of Homer s Odyssey but where Odysseus is pursued by the wrath of Poseidon,

Threats To The Mongol Empire
Communication is vital when you are control of a large area. The Mongols didn t have modern
technology to keep up on things going on in different parts of the Mongol Empire, so they had to
come up with alternative ways to keep in constant contact. If the United States Government didn t
have contact with their citizens and other government officials, there would be complete chaos.
Without communication, you would have no idea what has happened in different parts of the world. If
there was ever a threat to the U.S., there would be no other way to get vital information then to send
someone to transfer information to different parts of the countries. That is actually what Genghis Khan
did. He sent horses and people to transfer information

Analysis Of The Garrison Ncoic For The Camp Bucca
From January 2005 through December 2005, SFC Paulo Sousa served as the Garrison NCOIC for the
Camp Bucca, Iraq. This story speaks about the efforts to develop, establish, and execute the beginning
of a logistical support operation to include MWR events at a newly established Forward Operation
Base (FOB). The 1st Battalion, 102nd Field Artillery (RAOC) was responsible for the Garrison
Command at one of the world s largest detention facility. The mission spanned base support
operations, installation equipment requirements, and life support operations. This story describes his
efforts to establish, maintain, and project future support requirements on a base camp located in the
southern part of Iraq.

The Garrison Command was comprised of 4 officers and 2 enlisted Soldiers to run a supply section, a
billeting section, a public works department with KBR, construction oversight, movement control,
DFAC operations, an emergency services, and human resource. Within these areas were
responsibilities such as supervision of the camp dining facility, operating a badging section, and
running a movement control cell for all operations leaving our AO. In addition to this it quickly
became clear that his role as a Garrison NCOIC for the masses was more realistically a landlord for
over one thousand tenants.
The NCOIC position was unique in Camp Bucca. There were over four Lieutenant Colonels, 3
Command Sergeant Majors, and 5 First Sergeant that all lived and worked on less than sixteen acres.
SFC Sousa s daily operational tempo was consumed with challenges ranging from advising on logistic
support requirements for life support on the base to finding out who he should talk to about
establishing a Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DoDAAC) for this new installation. In
addition to this, he became the subject matter expert for Morale and Welfare Recreation (MWR)
matters.
One of the first major challenges was the establishment of a DoDAAC. Prior to his arrival at Camp
Bucca, the Supply Support Activity (SSA) was dealing with units and all units have their own
DoDAAC. This is the method normally used to request supplies, request and track

Essay On How Did The North s Industry Lead To Northern...
To What Extent did the North s Industry lead to Northern Victory? The North s industrial dominance
was a major factor of why the won the war as it was an underlying factor to the other aspects of how
they won. Through the North s industrial prominence it allowed them to be a much more versatile and
flexible army through transportation, population and financial supremacy. The Northern industry
allowed them to produce war goods and to be an independent economy, which had a major play to
their success in the war. The lack of emphasis on manufacturing and commercial interest, stemming
from the Southern desire to preserve their traditional agricultural society, disadvantaging themselves
to the North and their ability to function independently. It was neither Northern troops nor generals
that won the Civil War, rather Northern guns and industry. Northern states produced 97% of firearms
in the US which allowed war materials to be much more accessible and productive to produce as the
North already had these large factory s, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

tariffs and printing paper money with no specie to back it up causing the Southern dollar to plummet
and made overseas countries reluctant to loan money to a failing economy. This made it to expensive
for the South to import goods from overseas and forced them to rely on the booming Northern

Deviance Social Control
The following article opened up by firstly stating that as social units becomes larger with
differentiations, people are going to become accustomed to social control which is currently foreign to
modern day living. Gibbs, the writer of the article, challenges sociologists to question norms, deviance
and social control so that they will be able to formulate a different concept of what social control is.
The writer points out that current theory of social control only associate it with organizations and
institutions. This means that the theories nowadays think that social control naturally flows from
organizations and institutions. The article further explains that deviance was always seen as a behavior
that is contrary to a norm, but eventually

The Names Billy Collins Essay
The Names Figurative language plays a major role in literature. The use of multiple types of figurative
language adds quality, strength, and depth through literary works. Applying the right element in
making specific points in writing is necessary to make figurative language work. For example, Billy
Collins uses a few different types of figurative language to strengthen his poem, The Names. It is
moving that Billy Collins uses imagery, metaphors, and allegory in his poem because those elements
help depict a deeper meaning of his thoughts and remembrance of 9/11. One element of figurative
language Billy Collins uses to depict a deeper meaning in his poem is imagery. Imagery is the
formation of mental images, figures, or likenesses of things, and really describes how the author feels.
An example of imagery Billy uses in The Names is, Yesterday, I lay awake in the palm of the night. A
soft rain stole in, unhelped by any breeze (The Names). One reason this ... Show more content on

Allegory is a figure of speech in which abstract ideas and principles are described in terms of
characters, figures, and events. I started with A, with Ackerman, as it happened, Then Baxter and
Calabro, Davis and Eberling (The Names), Is an example of allegory in Billy s poem. One reason this
metaphor is moving and depicts a deeper meaning in the poem is that, He lists name by name to
emphasize his point of view on 9/11. Also, each letter becomes synonymous of the lives that were lost.
He is also expressing that it is impossible to write down all the names of those who died. Furthermore,
the line, Let X stand, if it can, for the ones unfound (The Names), is another allegory in Billy s poem.
One reason this allegory depicts a deeper meaning in Billy s poem is that, he uses the letter X to stand
for the people that were unaccounted for. There were many people who were not found or

Infant Sleep Duration And Maternal Sensitivities
Infant Sleep Duration and Maternal Sensitivities Role in a Child s Psychological and Emotional
Development and Adjustment
Discussion
Poor infant sleep duration has been linked to possible problematic behavior in toddlers and their social
and emotional adjustment. Recent studies show that frequent night waking s and irregular sleep as an
infant can lead to behavior irregularities or attention and concentration difficulties as suggested by
Professor Avi Sadeh (2015). Maternal sensitivity was observed discovering it s relation between
externalizing and internalizing behavior in children, conducted by Stephanie Bordeleau, Annie Bernier
and Julie Carrier (2012). Sleep is important for a child s day time functioning abilities suggesting
interference of or insufficient sleep in infancy can interrupt a child s developmental process as stated
by Bordeleau, et al (2012).
Media Article Summary Children observed, ages 3 to 4 who experienced irregular sleep, interrupted
sleep or frequent night waking s displayed altered concentration and problematic behavior in some,
conducts Sadeh (2015). Researchers believe there is a long term effect on interrupted sleep. This can
be shown in the toddler s behavior, attention and concentration. The research used was longitudinal
and many methods were used such as an actigraphy and attention span measurement using a
computerized test done 3 4 years after the initial start of the study. Observation was conducted by the
parents and reports were used

Gaming Tiers
Gaming Tiers are the Lowest
My brother introduced me to videogames when I was four and I have been playing ever since. The
game, Super Smash Bros., was both my first game and my favorite game, and it still is to this day.
Super Smash Bros is a unique fighting series with popular Nintendo characters as fighters. The
characters I play are Ganondorf, Roy, Rosalina Luma, Wii Fit Trainer, Jigglypuff, Mr. Game Watch,
just to name a few. You could say I m a bit of a gamer.
While practicing this game with my brother, he introduced me to tier lists. A tier list is a list that
depicts character by best or worst . Depicting how good or bad a character is from someone playing
them a certain way is my biggest pet peeve in the gaming scene. My point ... Show more content on

My play style is to pick a melee character, preferably the wise old sage type character, and charge into
difficult situations that are seemingly impossible to survive. Of course, I was berated for my play
style, but my point is that it works and I am having fun doing it. The great thing about my main
character, Ganondorf, is that he is known as the worst character in the game. He was considered so
bad that he got his own tier... Ganon Tier. The only people that have beaten my Ganondorf gameplay
have been my brother and a select few thus far, but definitely not every round. Not by a long shot.
Over the years I have left multiple people in awe after they ve seen how quickly I ve taken all four
stocks (amount of lives left) away from them. Every time I hear someone berating a character or a
person for using a character I challenge him or her to a 1 versus 1. Obviously, I would play Ganondorf
from the Ganon Tier and prove to them mechanical skill is actually a part of gaming.
Tier lists are my greatest pet peeve in gaming because telling someone a set way to play a game is not
only boring, it destroys the diversity of the game. I had to try to convince others to understand that tier
lists in gaming should not be followed as if it were the law. There is more than one way to play a game
and have fun. I do not want to see others following the opinions of others as blindly as some do with
tier lists. I would definitely keep

Ginsberg s Moloch Analysis
Moloch represents authority, those who tell us how we can and cannot live. Ginsberg proclaims this
when he calls Moloch the heavy judger of men, meaning he has the power to give and take, a
reference to capitalism, which is a system where the means of production and distribution are owned
by private corporations. Ginsberg was strongly against capitalism. He grew up with a communist
mother, and found the government having complete control of the country detrimental to society.
Subsequently, he did not like capitalism because, once again, much of the power was out of the hands
of the people. He reiterates this when he says Moloch is the cross bone soulless jailhouse and
Congress of sorrows! which seems to say Moloch is the power of the government or the private
organizations and its control over the people. He is, on one hand, calling Congress an actual place of
sorrows and on the other, saying Congress focuses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Ginsberg uses his Moloch to symbolize much more than sacrifice and false gods; he
represents a total ruin of society. Evil governments, economic hardships, and rejection are all a part of
Ginsberg s Moloch and he wants society to see the evil around them but he wants them to see it on
their own. Moloch whom I abandon . Ginsberg himself is almost like a god, always watching and
leaving subtle hints, but never interfering with the natural order of things. If people are to see the real
society, they will see it on their own. However, Ginsberg could also just be relying on the knowledge
of his readers to know who Moloch is or simply know that he is bad. It seems more likely that
Ginsberg is hiding his criticism of society behind this deity in order to spark an interest in this Moloch
figure and one day have the people protest for acceptance, free will, and a helping

Self-Presentation Vs. Impression Management
Self Presentation Versus Impression Management There is no surprise that the way a person presents
himself to others impacts how they will respond to him. Most often, people will attempt to present
themselves in a positive manner in order to gain friends, likes and comments on social media, and
even a romantic relationship. In order to achieve their ideal image of how they want others to perceive
them, people will attempt to reconstruct their bodies through the forms of surgeries, makeup, and style
of clothing, as well as engaging in various activities that match their ideal image (Kassin, Fein,
Markus, 2013). There are two ways people accomplish this, which are self presentation and
impression management. Self presentation involves the different methods people use to present
themselves, while impression management is altering the truth of who the person actually is in order
to create a favorable impression, and there are various techniques and motivations behind each of
these methods of controlling other peoples perceptions.
Self Presentation Tactics Self presentation involves the person s conscious decision of how he wants
to present himself, and this image can be a more professional, more serious, or even more strict
demeaner. According to Johann Marek, every experience. . . is able to function as psychological quasi
content and, therefore, is able to be an object of a thought that is turned inwards (2012, p. 122). To
form the self presentation, the person must decide what impression he wants to present, and then he
must determine what actions he must take to reinforce this new image, and these actions are classified
as impression management. There are several ways in which people attempt to establish and maintain
a self presentation, which include ingratiation and self promotion (Kassin et al., 2013). In regard to
ingratiation, people desire to be likable and get along with other people (Kassin et al., 2013).
However, self promotion is when a person attempts to gain peoples respect (Kassin et al., 2013).
Impression Management Techniques Like self presentation, impression management attempts to
control how people view the individual, and this process involves the individual s actions. For

The Music Of Rock And Roll
In the 1950 s a new type of music emerged in the United States. Rock and Roll was here to stay. Rock
musicians not only addressed contemporary events, they pushed the conventional musical boundaries.
Rock and Roll had a significant impact on politics, the music industry, and pop culture in the United
States during the 1960 s.
Music of the 1960 s often challenged political authority directly and unambiguously. Rock musicians
found themselves considering political involvement through their art. Even musicians who attempted
to avoid commentary found themselves considering politics as a subject of their work. When rock
artists considered this they made the risk of having their art censored. An attack on an artist s free
speech on rock music dates back to the beginning of rock music in the 1950s. This censorship is
because of the great power and influence rock music has politically. The riots of 1968 revealed a
society fundamentally divided over war, race, and equality, and music both engaged and reflected
those conflicts. Rock and Roll became connected to a generation against American actions and social
conditions which violated the nations supposed beliefs. Rock music also sparked an anti war
movement during the time of the Vietnam War becoming a hub for cultural and political conflict and
dialog. The music also mirrored the increasingly great number of young men drafted into the Army.
By early 1968 there were 550,000 combat troops in Vietnam. Another form

Electromagnetic Tracking Research Paper
The implementation of electromagnetic tracking (EM) to verify nasogastric tube placement is a new
concept that can provide better and safer patient care. Many people die of improper placement of
nasogastric tube each year. The misplacement of these tubes, if not verified correctly, can cause severe
injury to the patient or even death. Fundamentals of Nursing, believe that X ray is the best way to

and the British Journal of Nursing they both find that Electromagnetic tracking is the safest way. It is
important to check for verification because this type of harm is preventable. New evidence based

It is so crucial to confirm the tube placement because of possible harm that can be done to the patient.
About 1.9% of feeding tubes are misplaced every year. This can lead to pneumothorax in 1 in every 5
patients and dead in 1 in 39 patients (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Using X ray to confirm placement would
be too late to prevent lung trauma. PH is done also but is not always accurate and should not be used
solely as proof to confirm placement. Waiting on the confirmation of placement can delay the
administration of treatment or nutrition. Using the EM tracking system the patient is less likely to have
the tube enter the lungs. While a patient is unconscious their gag reflex is often impaired (Potter et al.,
2013). This increases the patient s risk for aspiration. When inserting the tube in an unconscious
patient there is a greater risk for harm. Potter suggests that X ray is the better option for confirmation
of placement but X ray exposure can also be harmful to the patient (Windle E. et al.,

Moving-Average Temperature Equations
It is difficult to apply any meaning to this variability from the moving average temperature but
someone could make reasonable assumptions about why this difference in variability exists. One such
assumption could be because you cannot give the entire globe a single temperature. It is, naturally, an
aggregation of many localized temperatures, which must be averaged or at least used to calculate a
median to negate the effect of outliers. The aggregated global calculation inherently smooths out the
impacts of localized variances on the variability of the overall global value. Observation summary:

best possible r2 achievable by any other possible trend line. Given these values, we can be reasonably
certain that the regression model represented by the trend line better fits the global temperature data
than the model for the Seattle temperature data. This matches the observation we can see in the graph
of greater dips and rises in the line representing the data set. It is reasonable to assume that, with more
data, we may be more likely to see a change in the direction of the trend line for Seattle (at only 68%
fit) than we would for the global trend line. This may affect data trends regarding how Seattle warms
in relation to the rest of the globe. Observation Summary: We should continue to collect data over
time in order to see if a better fit emerges and the trend line changes. Aggregated Interpretation of

Cholera In The 18th Century
Summary The first Cholera epidemic in England appeared in October of 1831. Symptoms of Cholera
include dehydration, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Soon the disease would take over the patient s
body and kill them. The second epidemic took place in 1848 through 1849 and killed almost 70,000
people throughout England and Wales. Doctors could not figure out the source of the illness or how to
cure it. The living conditions made this illness spread like wildfire. People were living in cramped
living areas and did not have proper sewage systems. Human waste was thrown into ditches and
alleyways. When the city would flood the sewage would flow into houses, marketplaces, streets, and
eventually made its way into streams and the Thames river. Doctor

Remittance In Haiti
Remittance occurs when an expatriate sends funds to their country of origin. It provides an outside
source of income for the country while forcing citizens to look for jobs outside of these
underdeveloped nations. Investopedia mentions the importance of this to the economic development
of countries by stating that in 2014 $583 billion in USD was transferred between countries, $436
Billion in USD was transferred was received by developing countries (Investopedia, 2005). This fact
demonstrates how the emergence of remittance with globalization has opened up developing countries
to new economic opportunities. Haiti has become a key example of how a country has become reliable

The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War
Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under the
purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has been
engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in warfare
should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not been the
dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control, or have
governance over warfare as a whole. For the purposes of understanding governance over privatized
warfare, there are three major time periods that should be reviewed: The Middle Ages, the Rise of the
State, and Post Cold War society. In an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though there has not been global governance over the Private Military Corporation, there were
some attempts at global governance over privatized violence as a whole. Two major international
documents which contribute to the discussion on global governance over privatized war happen to be:
The United Nation s International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of
Mercenaries and the International Committee of the Red Cross s Montreux Document. The creation of
these documents have also been impacted by non state actors such as committees or regional groups.
Governance of the Mercenary Mercenaries have existed for years before the Middle Ages, and have
continued well into the 20th century. During the Middle Ages, the political system of feudalism, and
the economies contributed greatly to the prominence and strength of Mercenaries. It is also worth
noting that because of the strength and prominence of Mercenaries, it was hard to have governance
over these entities. The rise of the State fundamentally shifted the way privatized war was looked at.
With the rise of the State, warfare shifted from the private sector into the hands

Depreciation Electric Cars
Another way to save money with electric vehicles is through the factor of depreciation. Now every car
gas or electric will go through depreciation one way or another, but electric vehicles have a lower
depreciation factor than gas power vehicles do. For most new gas powered cars they, will lose
approximately 20 percent of its value in the first year and 15 percent each year after that. (Lander).
While with the fully electric Tesla Model S has a value retention of 83%, 71% and 57% respectively

in changing oil, engine coolant, and other miscellaneous fluids the money can add up very quickly
over time. As for electric vehicles, they don t have these expenses. Although, they are not without

to worry about paying for. Electric cars, even with the proposed risk of replacing a battery, are still

Goals Of Higher Education
The general public of the United States believes greatly in the higher education system. For many
graduating high school students, the goal is to become enrolled and graduate from college. In order to
determine whether the education system works, one must determine if students who attend college
gain from entering, but more so from leaving college. The American higher education system
functions very well and accomplishes its goal. But throughout the country there are many goals that
the system of higher education sets for itself, as well as set by the general public.
Colleges have very many goals that they have set out to accomplish. The United States hopes to have
more people attend universities, to increase diversity within higher education, and to make college
affordable. In the United States the population with a college degree has increased throughout the

While the cost does not deter individuals from enrolling in institutions of higher education a large

evidence about complementary therapies being used to relieve labour pains. There are many therapies

have used water births for centuries as they believe it helps provide a gentle birthing experience. There
is some evidence to support the fact that labour may be quicker and less painful in labour. Women feel
more comfortable and therefore more confident and more in control in water. Water sets of a surge of

What Is The Cheerios Effect
Have you ever noticed how Cheerios (and other light breakfast cereal) seem to aggregate, forming
clumps while floating on the milk in your breakfast bowl? What is it that makes these cereal pieces
such good friends? Some described it as sugaring. Soaking in milk causes the sugars and starches that
coat the cereal to become sticky. Physicists have given it a name: the Cheerios effect .
In fluid mechanics, the Cheerios effect is the phenomenon that occurs when floating objects that don t
normally float attract one another.
At the root of the Cheerio Effect are basic physics concepts such as buoyancy, surface tension, gravity,
and the meniscus effect.
Buoyancy or density of an object compared to the liquid or air surrounding it, determines whether an
object submerged in water or surrounded by air will sink, float, or stay put. Buoyancy is what keeps
objects afloat. If an object is less dense than the liquid or air surrounding it, the object floats.
Likewise, if the object is denser, it sinks. When an object floats on water, the water will not remain
horizontal, but will instead form a bump or dimple, depending on the object s weight. The change is
more noticeable when two identical objects float close together as two ... Show more content on

inward pull from water molecules beneath them but only a weak outward pull from the air molecules

Gender Discrimination And The Workplace
Gender Discrimination
There are many things that a potential employee has to worry about when considering taking a
position within a company. Things like the amount of pay they need, the benefits that will be offered
to them, the values and morals of the company and whether or not those values and morals align with
their own, and if they could see themselves growing within this company throughout the years
because no one wants to work a dead end job for the rest of their life. However, along with all that an
employee has to worry about, there are also things that they should not have to worry about. Things
like equality, fair pay, ADA approved reasonable accommodations should they be required, and being
discriminated against, especially based on their gender.
Problem Situation
One of the most difficult things for someone to deal with within a work place is gender discrimination.
If we lived in a perfect world, it would not exist, but unfortunately we live in a world where all types
of discrimination exist. Gender discrimination happens all around the world and it takes a substantial
amount of time to change. Being discriminated against at your job because of your gender is a difficult
situation. It can negatively impact the organization by making the work environment uncomfortable.
When a gender discrimination problem arises within an organization you will usually also find
tension, decreased production, internal conflict, and increased employee turnover, all of which

Conventions apply to each person. In the article The President Is Not Bound by the Geneva
Conventions in Dealing with Terrorists by Jay Bybee, a united states appeals court judge, he talks
about how terrorists should be treated under the rules of the Geneva Conventions. Bybee makes a

Bybee states that the Geneva Conventions are meant to govern what goes on in war between two
states, not between a state and a non state group. Even though Afghanistan has been a part of the
Geneva Conventions since 1956, he says that the Taliban that is running the state party is an extremist
group and is also illegitimate therefore it does not fall under Geneva III. Bybee also informs that
neither does the al Qaeda terrorist group because it is not a state so therefore it does not fall under
Geneva III, and the president does not have to follow the the same rules that the Geneva Conventions
require. Bybee argues that it is for the president s discretion as to whether or not we can suspend the
Geneva Conventions when it comes to any terrorist group. He shows that many presidents in the past
have suspended treaties and this is not any different. If the times call for it the president can call for a
treaty to be ignored. When the president is questioned on his choice he is checked by the supreme
court and then given approval. The president also has the power to restore the obligations that are
required when the state is back to its original form and meeting its treaty standards. ( Bybee

Understanding The Retail Department Stores
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to develop an in depth understanding of the retail Department Stores
industry. This understanding will allow our team to create and implement a strategic plan in order to
gain a competitive advantage for firms in the industry. The Department Store industry includes
companies that sell a broad assortment of products and also incorporates Discount department stores
who offer their products at lower prices than most other retail stores (Carter, 2015). There are five
major product categories sold in department stores and they are apparel, drugs and cosmetics,
furniture and household appliances, toys and hobby goods, and other (Carter, 2015). Some stores may
also have pharmacy and photo services as well as restaurants.
Executive Summary
The Department Store industry growth rate and life cycle are declining due to the industry being
unattractive and not drawing in more competitors. Also, firms are leaving the industry because they
want to offer consumers more options and are then reclassified out of this industry into another one.
Industries use either the low cost strategy or the differentiation strategy to obtain a competitive
advantage. Analyzing the external environment has shown that it is not attractive for new entrants.
After the Target data breach firms in the industry are taking the necessary steps to protect consumer
information to be able to regain consumer trust. The industry is starting to raise the hourly rate for

The Aspects Of Gender Roles In The Return Of Martin Guerre
Throughout history, our society has created gender norms that are followed consistently by members
of communities. Though they differ from place to place, we recognize trends that seem almost
prescribed to certain genders. Specifically, in the 1600s, men and women had explicit roles that were
designated by people of stature. These expectations were followed loyally and people who failed to
follow suit were shunned or sometimes even suffered seriously punishment including crude public
beatings that were mot only pain inflicting but also status damaging (Rocke, Gender and Sexual
Culture, 159). Looking deeper into the novel The Return of Martin Guerre, we identify from the start
the expectations that are in place and how they play a role in the story. In comparison of Characters,
taking into consideration the standard that had been set for men of this era, we notice that Pansette
(Arnaud du Tilh) is an almost faultless example of what is expected for men and in contrast, Martin
Guerre fails to meet these standards. First, some background on what was expected of men at this
time. Natalie Zemon Davis describes expectancies of men through a number of instances in Martin
Guerre s life. Men had large roles to fulfill both in their households and in the community. At home,
the male was considered the lord of the household and was expected to provide for the family. In the

J. Cole released his album 2014 Forest Hill Drive on December 9, 2014 without any features, media

how far it strays from the lyrical composition of popular rap artists of today. Majority of rap artists in
the 2000 s rely heavily on commercial producers and multiple artist features to promote the popularity
of their album. Rappers often do not stray far from crude, sexual and misogynistic lyrics just to gain
fame and cash flow for their label. As a hip hop artist, J. Cole manages to gain more success than any
rap album with no features. J. Cole writes an honest, and nostalgic album that speaks further into his
thoughts on current social issues and his personal life story. He shines a light on his insecurities and
gets his audience to feel a special connection with him as an artist. J. Cole managed to create the only
album in rap and hip hop history to go platinum without any features while transcending development
of pop culture within the rap industry. Hip Hop developed as an urban underground movement during
the 1970 s in South Bronx, New York and when this subculture first surfaced, the terms hip hop and

Common Features Of Pop And Rock Music In The 1950s
Stemming from the creation of Rock n Roll in the 1950s was the birth of a diverse range of different
genres and styles marked a new era for music history. Some of the most common styles created in this
period include Pop and Rock music. In Australia, this music began to expand in popularity as a
response to its advancement around the world. Common features of Rock music include verse chorus
form, a diversity of lyrical themes, syncopation, terraced dynamics, repetitive hooks and riffs, standard
common or cut common time signatures, the use of electric and bass guitars, and the use of drum kit.
These features can be clearly displayed across Rock music from multiple decades. Working Class Man
composed by Jimmy Barnes in 1985 clearly demonstrates the features of rock music. These features
can also be seen almost two decades later, in the 2003 single from Australian band Jet, Are You Gonna
Be My Girl .
A common feature of Rock music is the use of a simple duple or quadruple time signature, such as 4/4
or 2/2.
Working Class Man features a common time signature (4/4). This is a regularly occurring feature in
Rock music, as the focus leans on the melody line, as oppose to more difficult rhythmic qualities of a
more complex time signature. It s tempo =120 beats per minute. The drum kit plays a syncopated
rhythm, placing emphasis on beats 2 and 4, which is another regularly occurring feature of Rock. The
extended chords in the guitar are played on beat one, and sustained

Women s Fight For Combat Roles
Joan of Arc: A women in Combat
A great leader knows how and what to do in any given situation. Great leaders know how to adapt, and
find a way to conquer a specific task or obstacle. There has been an ongoing debate about whether
women should have access to combat roles. Many argue that women are not physically build to match
the strength of a man. A young lady by the name of Joan of Arc or commonly known as The Maid of
Orleans was a young leader of the 15th century who changed the course of the hundred years war.
Joan became an unlikely heroine leader who led a revolt against the British which ultimately ended in
a victory. Joan embodies the definition of what a women in the military should be. She debunks the
21st century modern critics that say women do not fit the standards to survive and thrive in combat
roles. The objective of this paper is to identify key arguments that are in favor of women fighting in
combat. Gender equality among women has been a longstanding battle. Many are for gender neutral
roles in the military, and many are against it. The people that are against it believe that women will
endanger their units . While the Army and the Navy believes that it will enlarge the talent pool, and

according to a joint statement to the committee by acting Army Secretary

Clay Jannon Literary Analysis
Ever since the introduction of humans on Earth, homo sapiens have dominated this planet. However,
despite human superiority, there have been many times in history where people continue to perceive
different incidents and occurrences in one way, however, in reality, these occurrences have a much
deeper meaning. In the novel, Clay Jannon goes beyond the misunderstanding of life and travels deep
into the real world to find the meaning of life. Robin Sloan, the author of the story, Mr. Penumbra s 24
hours Bookstore, devoted his novel to explain the misconceptions of appearances versus the real life.
Moreover, in the story the author gives a number of examples related to this topic; however, there are
three main precedents that occurred in the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, later on during Clay s investigation to reveal the secluded truth, the reality of the Dragon
Chronicles was revealed and it had a much deeper meaning than what the world initially believed.
After Mr. Penumbra s explanation of why Clark Moffat s codex vitae was conserved in the world s
most secret library, Clay thought to himself, the third volume blows middle school minds because it s
a total curve ball. The tone shifts... the plot goes of the trail and began to obey some hidden logic.
People always assumed that Clark Moffat was doing psychedelic drugs, but the truth was even
stranger (Sloan 196). The release of the book initiated the misconception of people pertaining to the
thought that Clark Moffat was mentally ill; however, in reality, the book was a codex vitae made to
decode Manutius book of life. Furthermore, Clark Moffat found the other message in the book of life,
that the key to immortality is one s name and characteristics mentioned in a story which will live
forever. In conclusion, humans are a superior race, advancing towards the future every day, however,
despite people s ability to understand reasons, humans continue not look beyond the presented
appearance to perceive the reality, similar to the precedent of the Dragon Chronicles which occurred
in the

Langston Hughes As A Poet
Prior to Langston Hughes being recognized as a poet, when Hughes was twelve, his grandmother died
forcing him to live with a family friend, Auntie Reed (Bryant). During the time of his stay with Auntie

used to go to movies where he had his early experience with racial discrimination. In the south laws
kept blacks and whites separated but in Kansas if a business was privately owned, the rules didn t
apply. One day Hughes went to the movie theater where he had his first encounter with racial
discrimination; a sign saying blacks couldn t. (Bryant)
When Langston Hughes was entering the seventh grade in 1914 Langston was under the care of a
teacher the instituted a segregated seating in her class which made Langston angry thus ultimately him

Different factors can lead to young people misbehaving in school. This paper will draw on various academic articles that will demonstrate how young people misbehave in school. Also a type of methodology was conducted in order to demonstrate other individual s thoughts about why young people misbehave in school . An interview process was conducted where six different individuals (mixed gender) were interviewed in order to examine their opinions regarding Why do young people misbehave in school . The participants were given a consent form to sign in order for the interviewer to use for assignment purposes. The participants varied because there was one teacher, one pre service teacher, one student, one parent and one case worker. Each of these participants had different opinions and answers when they were asked why young people misbehave in school . The strong opinions where from the two teachers and the two parents based on their experiences. There were many similarities and differences between the participant s ... • 4. Artificial Neural Networks ( Ann ) CHAPTER 5 Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) 5.1 Machine Learning In machine learning, systems are trained to infer patterns from observational data. A particularly simple type of pattern, a mapping between input and output, can be learnt through a process called supervised learning. A supervised learning system is given training data consisting of example inputs and the corresponding outputs, and comes up with a model to explain those data (a process called function approximation). It does this by choosing from a class of model specified by the system s designer. [Nature. ANN 4] 5.1.1 Machine Learning Applied to the Air Engine The rapid growth of data sets means that machine learning can now use complex model classes and tackle highly non trivial inference problems. Such problems are usually characterized by several factors: The data are multi dimensional; the underlying pattern is complex (for instance, it might be nonlinear or changeable); and the designer has only weak prior knowledge about the problem in particular, a mechanistic understanding is lacking. [Nature, ANN 4] 5.2 Overview of ANN Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are a branch of the field known as Artificial Intelligence (AI) which may also consists of Fuzzy logic (FL) and Genetic Algorithms (GA). ANN are based on the basic model of the human brain with capability of generalization and learning. Whether it is people earning freedom or people not being granted it, every young boy in St. Petersburg wanted some form of freedom. The word freedom means the power to say and do what you want. Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper are all boys seeking freedom. Freedom is the key reason the boys run away to Jackson Island. Freedom is one of the main themes in the book. This is a big part of the story because it is when Tom dreams of becoming a pirate, and also when some of his superstitions are introduced. In the book, Tom usually takes his freedom whether he has earned It or not. One of the other main characters in the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, has freedom pretty much by default. He never had a mother that cared for him and his father is the town drunkard thus he is an orphan. He thinks life is too based on how you look, act, and how civilized you are. At one point in the story, the Widow Douglass takes in Huck Finn. The widow tries to transform him into a civilized person but in the end his old ways reappear and it is too much for him. He doesn t have to go to school, do chores, or do any form of work. His life fits perfectly into the definition of freedom. • 6. Seven Years War Essay example The Seven Years War proved to be a crossroads in the history of British colonial rule in America. Britain was victorious, but after defeating her French foes (along with their Indian allies), Britain was left to contemplate the ramifications of a war that would leave her relationship with her American colonies altered forever. This change would eventually lead to conflict between the colonies and Britain, and ultimately the Declaration of American Independence. In order to understand how the relationship between Britain and the American Colonies became so strained, we must first examine the nature of Britain s imperial authority. Self reliance was a commodity that was little known in colonial America before the war, and now that the colonists had had a taste of it, they were understandably slow to relinquish it. The seeds of conflict had been planted. There was another by product of the war for Britain; her national debt more than doubled during the course of the conflict. At a time when Britain was starting to bend beneath the weight of the debt, it was only a matter of time before parliament looked to the colonies to help shoulder some of the price incurred in their defense. The Sugar and Stamp Acts were the first of many measures to tax the colonists. The Townshend Duties and the Tea Act would follow. While these measures outraged the colonists because of their monetary implications, it was the constitutional implications brought on by the Acts that were most offensive to the colonists. Until after the Seven Years War, the colonists had been left to essentially tax themselves. Now the colonists had a rallying cry, as they deplored the idea of no taxation without representation. In 1765 the Stamp Act Congress was held, and in a bid of utter defiance the representatives agreed that the colonial legislative assemblies alone had the right to tax the colonies. Parliament repealed the Stamp Act, but only after agreeing to pass the Declaratory Act, which informed the colonies that Britain did in fact have the right to legislate for the ... Male sexual impotence would seem at first to be an unpromising subject for poetry, especially poetry which could loosely be defined as neo Classical and is based on compositional models from the Classical world of ancient Greece and Rome. Yet scholars such as Richard Quaintance and Claude Rawson have traced the history of a literary sub genre within the neo Classical tradition that does deal with male sexual impotence, whether through failure to achieve erection or through premature ejaculation. This literary sub genre includes Restoration poems like Aphra Behn s The Disappointment and the Earl of Rochester s Imperfect Enjoyment, and Quaintance in fact dubs the genre the neo Classical imperfect enjoyment poem after Rochester s title. Quaintance situates both Rochester and Behn within French neo Classical models (Quaintance 190), but actual Latin works were their ultimate models: Rawson notes that Ovid himself had written a poem on the subject in his third book of love elegies, Amores III.vii, and Petronius, the great courtier satirist of Nero s Rome, had structured his Satyricon as a parody of Homer s Odyssey but where Odysseus is pursued by the wrath of Poseidon, God of the Sea, the protagonist ... The Northern industry allowed them to produce war goods and to be an independent economy, which had a major play to their success in the war. The lack of emphasis on manufacturing and commercial interest, stemming from the Southern desire to preserve their traditional agricultural society, disadvantaging themselves to the North and their ability to function independently. The use of multiple types of figurative language adds quality, strength, and depth through literary works. Applying the right element in making specific points in writing is necessary to make figurative language work. For example, Billy Collins uses a few different types of figurative language to strengthen his poem, The Names. It is moving that Billy Collins uses imagery, metaphors, and allegory in his poem because those elements help depict a deeper meaning of his thoughts and remembrance of 9/11. One element of figurative language Billy Collins uses to depict a deeper meaning in his poem is imagery. Imagery is the formation of mental images, figures, or likenesses of things, and really describes how the author feels. • 19. Self-Presentation Vs. Impression Management Self Presentation Versus Impression Management There is no surprise that the way a person presents himself to others impacts how they will respond to him. Most often, people will attempt to present themselves in a positive manner in order to gain friends, likes and comments on social media, and even a romantic relationship. In order to achieve their ideal image of how they want others to perceive them, people will attempt to reconstruct their bodies through the forms of surgeries, makeup, and style of clothing, as well as engaging in various activities that match their ideal image (Kassin, Fein, Markus, 2013). There are two ways people accomplish this, which are self presentation and impression management. Self presentation involves the different methods people use to present themselves, while impression management is altering the truth of who the person actually is in order to create a favorable impression, and there are various techniques and motivations behind each of these methods of controlling other peoples perceptions. Self Presentation Tactics Self presentation involves the person s conscious decision of how he wants to present himself, and this image can be a more professional, more serious, or even more strict demeaner. According to Johann Marek, every experience. . . is able to function as psychological quasi content and, therefore, is able to be an object of a thought that is turned inwards (2012, p. 122). To form the self presentation, the person must decide what impression he wants to present, and then he must determine what actions he must take to reinforce this new image, and these actions are classified as impression management. There are several ways in which people attempt to establish and maintain a self presentation, which include ingratiation and self promotion (Kassin et al., 2013). In regard to ingratiation, people desire to be likable and get along with other people (Kassin et al., 2013). However, self promotion is when a person attempts to gain peoples respect (Kassin et al., 2013). Impression Management Techniques Like self presentation, impression management attempts to control how people view the individual, and this process involves the individual s actions. For ... Rock musicians not only addressed contemporary events, they pushed the conventional musical boundaries. Rock and Roll had a significant impact on politics, the music industry, and pop culture in the United States during the 1960 s. Music of the 1960 s often challenged political authority directly and unambiguously. Rock musicians found themselves considering political involvement through their art. Even musicians who attempted to avoid commentary found themselves considering politics as a subject of their work. When rock artists considered this they made the risk of having their art censored. An attack on an artist s free speech on rock music dates back to the beginning of rock music in the 1950s. This censorship is because of the great power and influence rock music has politically. The riots of 1968 revealed a society fundamentally divided over war, race, and equality, and music both engaged and reflected those conflicts. Rock and Roll became connected to a generation against American actions and social conditions which violated the nations supposed beliefs. Rock music also sparked an anti war movement during the time of the Vietnam War becoming a hub for cultural and political conflict and dialog. Many people die of improper placement of nasogastric tube each year. The misplacement of these tubes, if not verified correctly, can cause severe injury to the patient or even death. • 26. The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under the purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has been engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in warfare should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not been the dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control, or have governance over warfare as a whole. For the purposes of understanding governance over privatized warfare, there are three major time periods that should be reviewed: The Middle Ages, the Rise of the State, and Post Cold War society. Governance of the Mercenary Mercenaries have existed for years before the Middle Ages, and have continued well into the 20th century. During the Middle Ages, the political system of feudalism, and the economies contributed greatly to the prominence and strength of Mercenaries. It is also worth noting that because of the strength and prominence of Mercenaries, it was hard to have governance over these entities. What is it that makes these cereal pieces such good friends? Some described it as sugaring. Soaking in milk causes the sugars and starches that coat the cereal to become sticky. Physicists have given it a name: the Cheerios effect . In fluid mechanics, the Cheerios effect is the phenomenon that occurs when floating objects that don t normally float attract one another. At the root of the Cheerio Effect are basic physics concepts such as buoyancy, surface tension, gravity, and the meniscus effect. Buoyancy or density of an object compared to the liquid or air surrounding it, determines whether an object submerged in water or surrounded by air will sink, float, or stay put. Buoyancy is what keeps objects afloat. If an object is less dense than the liquid or air surrounding it, the object floats. Likewise, if the object is denser, it sinks. When an object floats on water, the water will not remain horizontal, but will instead form a bump or dimple, depending on the object s weight. Though they differ from place to place, we recognize trends that seem almost prescribed to certain genders. These expectations were followed loyally and people who failed to follow suit were shunned or sometimes even suffered seriously punishment including crude public beatings that were mot only pain inflicting but also status damaging (Rocke, Gender and Sexual Culture, 159).
