My Mother And My Family
I remember my mother and my aunties saying when I was growing up that our generation was too
much premature in certain domain of life and that their times it was different. It goes without saying
that I started paying attention to the environment and the people around me and noticed that the

Researchers predicted that if the experiment was successful the hypocrisy should but condoms at the
end of the experiment. The participants participate in one the four conditions, mindful and committed

interviewed and had the opportunity to buy condoms at the end of the experiment. Subjects were
between 18 and 25 years old, heterosexual active within the previous 3 months. Subjects have been
randomly assigned to the condition before entering the lab. They were then introduced to one of the

The other group, went directly to the dependent commitment which allies self report and behavioral

Keating Redfern Speech
Through manipulating the power of rhetorical devices in anthology of speeches, orators accentuate the
significance of language and learning as a platform for prompting an abiding social change. Hence, an
effective speech highlights composer s contextual issues and ideas that resonates within their
immediate audience, envisaging a social equity. Lessing s On Not Winning the Nobel Prize, delivered
at the Nobel Lecture in 2007, explores the power of language to fuel radical social reform in
Zimbabwe, through the representation of educational inequality. Similarly, Keating s Redfern Speech
empowers hope within Australian s social progress by accentuating the importance of learning and
acknowledging of our past colonial mistake. Both speeches share ... Show more content on

Criticising the educational gap that subsists within the polarised nations, Lessing exposes language
and literature as a fuel to empower individuals to maintain their hope for a prosperous future.
Achieved through her effective use of personal anecdote in some pupils walk many miles every
morning, rain or shine and across rivers , Lessing highlights the metaphorical journey that reflects the
Zimbabwean students struggle and their determination for knowledge. Through this notion, she
reveals the significance of language and learning as a catalyst that inspires individuals to sustain
through their hardships, engaging her intended audience to appreciate the value of literature as a
platform for social reform. Furthermore, Lessing employs inclusive language to heighten the
significance of language to engender social progress, communicating that it is our stories that will
recreate us, when we are torn...even destroyed...that is our phoenix . She skilfully utilises the
symbolism of the phoenix which symbolises immortality, to emphasis literature as an enduring value
that still resonates within our contemporary world. Through this, she constructs a sense of hope that
projects to an Egalitarian society comprised of social inclusiveness and educational equality.

Business Management Essays
Business Management The world of business has undergone radical and dramatic changes in the last
decade changes that present extraordinary challenges for the contemporary manager. A manager is an
organizational member who is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the
activities of the organization so that the goals can be achieved. According to a widely referenced study
by Henry Mintzberg, managers serve three primary roles: interpersonal, informational, and decision
making. Management is process of administrating and coordinating resources effectively and
efficiently in an effort to achieve the goals of the organization. The concept of management within an
organization typically occurs in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Controlling is monitoring the performance of the organization, identifying deviations between planned
and actual results, and taking corrective action when necessary. With all these four functions that are
involved in the process of management, if all are followed correctly the organization will be properly
ran and will have few complications. In every organization there are managers, and every manager is
classed on different levels in terms of the skills they need and the activities they are involved in.
Managers exist at various levels in the organization hierarchy. A small organization may have one
layer of management, where as a large organization may have several. In most organizations there are
three level of managers. The three level of managers are, first line manager, middle manager, and
finally the top level manager. Managers at different job levels have different job responsibilities and
therefor require different skills. First line managers supervise the individuals who are directly
responsible for producing the organization s product or delivering its service. They carry titles such as
production supervisor, line manager, section chief, or account manager. First line managers along with
all the other managers are involved in three skills conceptual, human, and technical. In each three
different levels of management, each one of these

Buffalo Bill Cumming
Some times Cummigs will forgot to place spaces between words on purposes. This uses is seen in
Cumming s poem Buffalo Bill . In this poem man of words are jumbled together to create something
new: onetwothreefourfive (Cummings line 6). By jumbling words together Cumming creates a fast
paced verse that pushes the poem along. This fast paced attitude in this poem show just how quick
Buffalo Bill s life and other people s lives can be. An example of a conventional with Cumming s
distinctive mark barely noticeable would be Anyone lived in a pretty how town . This poem displays
how uninformed people can become: Anyone lived in a pretty how town, (with up so floating man

Themes Presented in Shakespeare s Tragic Play Romeo and...
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous plays in history, which is written by William Shakespeare.
This play is Shakespeare s first play about tragedy. Romeo and Juliet is a very deep and profound play
about two star crossed lovers met at a ball. Within this play Shakespeare used deep, complex language
to describe their insightful character also their actions towards each other. Romeo and Juliet is about
two lovers from families who have set a grudge upon each other, in this complex piece of art William
Shakespeare has put the protagonist within ruinous events where love is hard and where love has to be
flawless. The plot of Romeo and Juliet is as I said earlier, about two star crossed lovers met at a ball.

Then Romeo realises that he made a fatal flaw. As Romeo dies Juliet s loneliness grows over her, from
that she stabs her self with Romeo s sword and they both just lay their lifelessly. This play fits within
the tragic genre because at Elizabethan times, tragic plays had to incorporate the death of the
protagonist at the end, leaving the audience with a feeling of loss, regret and a hollow victory. In this
case the protagonists are Romeo and Juliet. The themes that are embraced within this play are mostly
arrogance, male pride, secrecy and physical violence. First of all arrogance is shown principally by
Mercutio, given in act 3 scene 1, he insults Tybalt by calling him a ratcatcher . The word ratcatcher
links in with Tybalt s name which means king of cats . He has much courage to insult the cousin of
Romeo s love; also his arrogance overpowers his mind when he tries to scare Tybalt by giving the
names of sword s moves ( passado ). To make this play fit more into the tragic genre, the arrogance
also link in with another theme that Shakespeare has put in which is male pride. this is shown by
several character but it is mainly shown by Romeo and Mercutio. As Tybalt killed Mercutio, Romeo

Intrinsic Motivation In The Medical Field
Although, my motivation to pursue a career in the medical field arises from intrinsic motivations; My
personality has a part in my career choice because it was gained through the nurturing of family and
extrinsically of course. The summary of my Myers Briggs Type Indicator concluded my type as ISFJ.
The I stands for introversion, and it means one focuses on inner world of ideas and impressions. Being
an introvert applies to me and my life because I prefer to work alone, dislike social outings, and I am
self motivated. For example, I had to do a group project in my english class, and I disliked it. I wanted
to work alone, but most of the work I wanted to commit too to make sure it got done. I researched the

Judging means one who likes a planned and organized approach to life and want to have things
settled. I find this one to be highly true of me. I really dislike clutter and unorganized things. I like to
plan everything out to the T. I do not like when things are done last minute because it is hectic and
chaotic. This is probably one of the reasons I am an overthinker. I worry about everything because I
can be a perfectionist and if things do not go as planned I lose sleep. For example, for all my classes I
have everything organized for each class. The upper level classes all have binders with tabs and
labelings. If everything is messy I can not focus and concentrate on the task at hand. It stresses me out
to see things out of order and I do not stop thinking about it until I fix it. This applies to my life even
now because I just want everythings to go as planned as far as my career. I know life does not work
this way all the time, but I can plan out certain things and see where it takes

The Last Supper With Jesus And The Synoptic Gospels
The Synoptic Gospels describe The Last Supper with Jesus performing many of the traditional
elements found during the Jewish Passover as detailed in Exodus. Jesus, himself, was a Jewish man
and celebrated this tradition as a part of his faith, so it makes sense that this final meal could hold
traditional aspects of a Passover Seder. The three Synoptic Gospels seem to demonstrate parallels
between a typical Passover celebration and The Last Supper that Jesus performed. The Gospel of Luke
even calls in a Passover meal in chapter 22 verse 15.
Joachim Jeremias , The Eucharistic Words of Jesus, comments that there are at least 14 specific
parallels between Jesus Last Supper and the Passover Seder as seen through Exodus and the Synoptic
Gospels. These 14 points include, worship, discussion of the symbolism of the meal, and bread being
consumed. The three Synoptic Gospels tell of Jesus breaking bread with the disciples to symbolize his
body which is a parallel to the unleavened bread that the Jewish people were to eat during their
Passover meal. In two of the Synoptic Gospels, the group finishes their meal by singing a hymn before
leaving the room which follows Moses command from God to the Israelites to worship Him after all
the other commands that the Lord had given them for the Passover. During Passover, the recalling of
the original event and symbolism of the parts of the meal are to be told and the same traditions are to
be followed as the Lord had commanded to Moses and

The Bluest Eye Literary Devices
Through the prologue there is symbolism, distortion and imagery that shows what is to come in the
Bluest Eyes. Mother, Father, Dick and Jane appear to represent the perfect family. They also appear to
be white although not directly stated. The Bluest Eyes is a story of racism and how mean people can
be. It is also a story of people wanting to be something they can never be. This showing how other
people s thoughts can hold so much value whether they are positive or negative. There is also no such
thing as perfect family which the prologue alludes to no matter what background you are. In the start,
it says Who will play with Jane? No one ends up playing with Jane as to show how she gets ignored.
The theme in this story is so much of these kids wanting to be white because they believe that to be
perfect. Pecola goes through this story constantly getting ignored by everyone. Claudia even becomes
jealous of a girl who is light skinned and falls into the belief that she wishes she was white. The
reference of the mother just laughing and the father being strong relates to the characters in the story
as well. Cholly is not strong in this story as he has had a tough life. ... Show more content on

The distortion of the same sentences she uses creates this imbalance that we know is coming. It shows
that although this family seems to be perfect there is this underlying problem of no one wanting to
play with Jane. This also suggests the fake or fantasy everyone lives in because it says the mother and
father are smiling yet no one pays attention to Jane. The cat and dogs don t even pay attention and we
see how Pecola is tricked into killing a dog later in the story. This perhaps alluding to this moment in
the book. The distortion is words also makes the reader after you read the story aware of how
confused all these characters are. They don t need to be wishing they were another color when the
beauty in them already

Credit Card Information Security Codes
If you ve ever made an online purchase, you know that there s a security code on your credit card that
merchants need to authorize your purchase. If you ve never ordered anything online, you might not
know what the CVV code is. Whether you ve noticed it or used it, you might not understand why it s
important in keeping your card information secure.
Types of Codes
There are two types of CVV codes. One of the codes you won t see since it s embedded in your
magnetic strip. This is the CVV1 code that provides information to the machine when you swipe your
card at a store or restaurant. For a merchant to gain access to the CVV1 code, the card and the
cardholder must be present for the transaction. In cases like this, the other code isn t required. ... Show

The CVV2 code is printed on the card itself. It s not embossed like the credit card number.
Where is the CVV2 Located?
With a Visa, Discover or MasterCard, the numbers are three digits long. They are located on the back
of the card near the signature area. Sometimes, they are surrounded by a small box, so the customer
can clearly see the number that is required.
American Express credit cards security code or CVV2 are located on the front of the card. They are
located in the upper right corner of the credit card number itself.
How the CVV2 Code Protects You
While it s lessening, there s a lot of fear about the security of online transactions. With the CVV code,
the credit card companies are providing another layer of protection against fraudulent purchases.
When the online merchant asks for the expiration date of the card along with the CVV, they are trying
to ensure that you are the cardholder, and that the card is in your possession. The CVV number isn t
stored with your data when you make a purchase in a store. This makes it harder for thieves to capture
your credit card number and make purchases anonymously

The Archetype Of Theseus As A Hero
Heroes are inspirational figures in stories that relay relatable messages. Some of the most famous
heroes include Harry Potter, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. In greek mythology, Theseus, like
Superman or Harry Potter, is also considered a hero. Theseus was the son of Poseidon who went to
Athens to meet his supposed father, the king. In hopes of freeing him of his debt, he travels to Crete
where Minos resided and killed the minotaur whom Aegeus was to feed 7 each of the most beautiful
maidens and courageous men in his kingdom. Theseus is considered a hero for he possesses qualities
of a hero and his/her journey. Theseus fits the hero archetype because he is clever, which means that
he has situational intelligence; he is determined, which means that he is firmly set in opinion or
purpose; and he has a supernatural helper, which is someone who aids the hero in his/her quest usually
by providing them with a talisman or advice.
Theseus is clever in that he is able to figure out a solution hastily given a situation. On his journey to
Athens, Theseus encountered Sciron whom he had heard of as someone who fed passersby to his giant
turtle. In the text, it states, When the giant kicked, Theseus pulled, dodging swiftly out of the way as
the enormous body hurled over him, over and down, splashing the water cliff high as it hit (Evslin
153). In order to avoid being fed to the turtle, he used the giant s kick tactic against him and sent him
hurling down into the water. This

Gangs in Prison Essay
Introduction
Prison gangs are originally formed by inmates as a way of protecting themselves from the other
inmates. These gangs have turned out to be violent and thus posing a threat to security. This paper will

and similarities in these gangs.
The Aryan Brotherhood
The Aryan Brotherhood started in 1964 was founded by Tyler Bingham and Barry Mills who were
white supremacists and Irish American bikers. It started at the San Quentin state prison. The prison

and other racist who were black in the San Quentin state prison in California. The founders adopted
the militia structure and ideology of the Symbionese Liberation Army. The gangs were started so as to
unite the black prisoners and get rid of a violent uprising. This uprising was believed to be from a
racist prison administration that was white. The gang attracted thousands black American offenders,
and was listed for a number of staff assaults and the murder of Marin County judge in 1970. Its
territory is in California and some selected areas in the United States. It also has a paramilitary kind of
structure. It has around 50,000 members. If one wants to join the gang, one has to be black and must

Success Is The Most Misunderstood Driver Of Performance
Some popular theories claim that the amount a person is paid determines how well that person
produces and performs. However, new research suggests that there are more variables at play
pertaining to peak performance and link an employee s happiness to his or her productivity and a
company s success. Research indicates that performance on nearly every level productivity, creativity,
and engagement improves when people cultivate and work with a positive mind set. According to
Shawn Achor, the author of The Happiness Advantage, Happiness is perhaps the most misunderstood
driver of performance. For one, most people believe that success precedes happiness. Once I get a
promotion, I ll be happy, they think. Or, Once I hit my sales target, I ll feel great. But because success
is a moving target as soon as you hit your target, you raise it again the happiness that results from
success is fleeting. Achor explains that when employees develop a positive mind set, they become
more engaged, creative, motivated, energetic, resilient, and productive at work. He has observed this
effect in his role as a researcher and lecturer in 48 countries on the connection between employee
happiness and success.
In a study at the University of Warwick, economists discovered employees who were happy increased
their productivity by 12%, while unhappy workers were 10% less productive. The Warwick research
team stated: We find that human happiness has large and positive causal effects on

Ex Machina And Frankenstein
Throughout history, people have made works of art both praising and criticizing the development of
science and technology. The novel by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, shows an older form of this type of
work, while the film, Ex Machina, shows the modern version of this. In both of the stories a new being
is created, and while in the film the consequences of creating life are somewhat more thought out,
both result in the deaths of the creators and others. This paper is going to analyze how different
aspects of these two pieces compare including: their characters, their stories, and the themes or morals
of the works. Both Frankenstein and Ex Machina involve realizing the complexities of life. They
highlight the strengths and weaknesses of man, and warn of the advancements of the sciences. While
neither are outright saying that science and advancement is a bad thing, they warn of the consequences
of new technologies as well as the lack of understanding and planning. In the end, both of these stories
warn and teach the reader or viewer about the shortcomings of mankind. While there are a few
differences, the characters and the messages conveyed by them in the works, Ex Machina and
Frankenstein, are generally very similar. In both of these works, the reader or viewer s opinion of the
different characters and their actions changes as they are developed. It is ambiguous who the
protagonist is supposed to be in both stories, and initial opinions on who really is on the right side

Amiri Baraka s Somebody Blew Up America
A poem is meant to be heard rather than read. Reading Somebody Blew Up America by Amiri Baraka
is definitely a poem that uses powerful words and phrases. Though, we may not like what he says, he

However, he makes us think we know the who at one point but as we continue to read you ll start to
question yourself. Reading this poem would cause you to have many different thoughts on who he is
talking, because the question Baraka asks is a tough one and he doesn t try to give an answer. In the

also says ... Or them that blows up nigger churches , the word churches caught me off guard because it

city that considered as one of the fastest growing country in the world. It has gone from strength to
strength. In every year Dubai is developing by working hard on its self and its goals. Dubai is a
capitalist model because of its hard work at building its road infrastructure, having more entertainment
places, and making a comfortable environment for the people from different cultures. One of the main
reasons that makes Dubai a capitalist model is that the way they have built and organized their roads.
Dubai s streets have a reputation for their width and infrastructure. The Dubai roads instructor helped
the people to move around easily. Davidson, (2008) Said that the annual budget of Dubai Municipality
s exceeds Dh1.28 billion (US$350 million), with almost 90 % billed to infrastructure development. In
other words, Dubai Municipality s budget spends approximately billions on the infrastructure every
year. To illustrate, Dubai has built and constructed amazing roads that would get you to your
destination comfortably and most importantly, that it could take you to your destination in many
different directions. In conclusion, the roads infrastructure was ... Show more content on

What Steroids Can Do To Your Body
A bloodcurdling feeling spreads throughout the arena, a smell so menacing that even the men inside
the ring don t know what will happen next. The roars of men are zipping through the air as bodies are
torn limb from limb. Grotesque as this image may be only a few hundred years ago were people
competing in stadiums adorned by thousands of viewers. Competition has always been a part of
human nature, ever since the first man put his foot onto this planet the race has been on. Certainly
competition has changed as years have gone by. First we competed for food on a daily basis,
competition was needed in order to just make it through the day, as many years began to pass
competition began to turn into daze in which people could watch others fight for their lives fighting
against creatures from other parts of the world unknown to their own. Today, we no longer face the
life or death bouts over a single meal. The sense of competition has not dulled, yet it has been moved
from a daily survival to more of an extravagance for viewers to behold the abilities of others in awe.
These days, the most anticipated competitions are held in football stadiums, boxing rings, and weight
rooms. The rewards for today s gladiators consist of bragging rights over a rival, worldwide notoriety,
and large sums of money. Being the best at what we do, getting the feeling that you are number one is
what we as humans have always strived for. No matter what the cost had been we always took another

Youth Side Effects

Given the weakness related with BPD side effects, it isn t amazing that people with BPD are probably
going to first look for treatment amongst youthfulness. In a longitudinal investigation of grown ups

people who have BPD and have been appeared to be compelling in decreasing indications (Chanen et

The Problem Of Reproducing High Dynamic Range
1 ABSTRACT The problem of reproducing high dynamic range images on devices with restricted
dynamic range has gained a lot of interest in the computer graphics community. In this paper, new
adjustment tone mapping method is presented for displaying high dynamic range image on low
dynamic range device without any lose in image details and preserves image contrast. Instead of
linearly scaling the luminance of all pixels or introduce local gamma correction with adaptive
parameters for all pixels, the paper core idea is using linear operator in specific pixels and using
nonlinear operator in another pixels according to guidance map. The optimal compression can finally
be achieved by solving the optimization problem that integrates all window based constraints which
can be transformed to a sparse linear equation. 2 INTRODUCTION High dynamic range is a digital
photography technique that collect multiple exposures of the same scene where captured with different
exposure settings and merged using image editing camera software to create a more realistic image
called HDR images. The dynamic range of a scene, image or imaging device is defined as the ratio of
the highest to the lowest luminance or signal level. High dynamic range image can capture great
dynamic rage that represents the whole tonal range of real world scenes. HDR image is encoded in a
format that allows the largest range of values using floating point values stored with 32 bits per color
channel, but the modern

Rheumatoid Arthritis And Treatment Of Arthritis Essay
Rheumatoid Arthritis or RA has been around since early humanity. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic
inflammatory joint disease, which can cause cartilage and bone damage. Diseased joints have been
found in well preserved Egyptian mummies. Showing that arthritis was prevalent among Egyptians.
Hippocrates a Greek physician who is known for the Hippocratic oath, described the symptoms of
arthritis. It was not until 216 AD that the term rheumatismus was used to describe the joint
inflammation. Alfred Baring Garrod, an English physician, in the mid 1800s named the disease,
Rheumatoid Arthritis to help distinguish the disease from osteoarthritis and gout. In 1932 the
committee of Rheumatism was created and it later became the American College of Rheumatology.
There is a difference between rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is a
complex disease with many different symptoms. Even though both cause joint pain they are both
chronic and non curable diseases, they both have different causes, symptoms, and prognoses.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder and osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition that is
the results of increased wear on joints. It is estimated that 27 million American have Osteoarthritis.
Certain jobs or things that require repetitive motion can cause the cartilage to wear down. The
different symptoms of osteoarthritis symptoms are joint pain that last less than thirty minutes in the

The Development Of Nature And Nurture In Language Development
The basis of language development theories revolves around the idea that, either nature or nurture are
more influential than the other in the development of language in children. Language development as
defined by, Menyuk, is the acquisition and growth of a societies chosen method of communication,
which occurs due to a culmination of cognitive growth and environmental experiences (2005). Nature,
is concerned with the biological makeup of an individual that influences their ability to acquire
language including, genes and brain function, alternatively, nurture is environmental factors including,
culture, family, and experiences (Fellows Oakley, 2014). Nature and nurture both play vital yet highly
diverse roles in the acquisition of language and its development. Analysis of the process of language
acquisition will reveal that both nature and nurture are vital for successful language development of
children. The process by which language is learnt or acquired differs by theory, specifically two
alternate perspectives display the basis of nature and nurture. The first theory to be discussed stems off
the basis of nurture, the behaviourist theory. This theory draws upon the concept of nature, suggesting
behaviour is learnt through experience and reinforced by rewards (Fellows Oakley, 2014). This
perspective states children learn from and imitate their surroundings and they are rewarded by
responses and the success of their communication, this is an exemplar of acquisition

themselves the targets of violent crime. Among these gangsters is fifteen year old Alex and his band of
droogs. Alex and his gang of troublemakers spend their days robbing and beating up innocent men and
women they encounter, all while assuming they are invincible to the consequences that could come.

Upon first reading the novel, one may find it difficult to understand Alex s slang heavy language. This
language, known as Nadsat, represents a Russian influence in Alex s society. Burgess was able to hear
the language spoken first hand upon traveling to the Soviet Union. There, he was able to refine a
simple yet plausible Slavic vocabulary... to revise and complete A Clockwork Orange (Biswell 238).
Nadsat is mainly spoken by teen troublemakers, such as Alex, because it cannot be understood by
mainstream society. The language, in a way, also encourages violence with unique derogatory terms
regarding women and rape (Goh 1). Upon understanding the language spoken by Alex, one can further
understand his actions and the way in which he is influenced by his surroundings and the rest of
society. Goh continues to explain how the use of language in this novel makes a statement about the
individual s (Alex s) struggle... for authenticity under dystopian conditions of social control (1). This
so called social control is consistent with what Burgess may have seen in the Soviet Union and
presents a motive for the way he portrayed the government in the novel. As Alex speaks, the reader
can infer that he has been given no choice but to become the vicious criminal that he is. This, in turn,
makes the reader feel a certain sympathy towards him despite the despicable nature of his crimes. Also
creating a unique theme of sympathy is the use of Alex as a first person narrator. As a first person
narrator, one can see Alex s innermost thoughts and experience life as he lives it. Alex often describes
his crimes in a humorous and intimate manner, as stated in the article A Clockwork Orange (1). John
Tilton further continues this idea by explaining how Burgess creates emotion in Alex through his
poetic language

Section 235.10 states that teachers may not have sexual relations with students. This rule is
straightforward and in place for obvious reasons. Relationships between teachers and students violate
laws and place students and teachers into an altered power dynamic. If students and teachers had
relations outside of school it could lead to unfair treatment. Another rule that must be followed when it
comes to teaching is that teachers must obtain proper certification in order to teach. This rule is in
place to ensure that our children are being taught by qualified individuals. Before someone can step
into a classroom and teach they must obtain teaching certification. Additionally, Section 235.4. part 3
of the PA Code of Conduct states that Professional educators shall maintain high levels of competence
throughout their careers (PA Code of Conduct, 1973). This rule is in place to ensure that students are
receiving the best possible education. Teachers need to be able to keep up with our ever changing
world. By engaging in professional development teachers can stay up to date on the most effective

Flower Ornament Sutra Vs Buddhism Essay
Buddhism, on the other hand, understands the psychological nature of humans very deeply and
develops effective treatment methods. As revealed in the Flower Ornament Sutra [Avatamsaka Sutra],
Our perception Three Kingdoms arise from the mind, so do Twelve Links of Dependent Origination;
birth and death come from the mind, which are extinguished when the mind is put to rest . If we view
Buddhism in this lens, itself in conglomeration with psychology has much to reveal about both
practices (Williams Oerberg, Elizabeth, 2012).
The journey home that Buddhists refer to as the privilege of enlightenment, the ultimate truth, is called
the paramattha. The Paramattha is not the same journey as other faiths profess, because other faiths,
like the science known as psychology, emphasize outside influence, in one way or another, in the
ancient long search for understanding. Understanding life, afterlife, existence, thought, personality,
behavior, and the unknown. These latter truth seekers have overlapping roads of distinction on their

is a knowing and following of spiritual awakening. The Buddhists quest begins with this necessary

They would play until fear came upon them of being seen by an adult or passerby. Then they would

Mangan s sister came out on the doorstep to call her brother in to his tea we watched her from our

The boy also hid his inner self from the truth, like the house, because of his own lust for Mangan s

Each morning he would lie on the floor in the front parlour watching her door. The blind was pulled

Senior Year
It was beautiful. I had a few weeks left of school, then I was off to summer before leaving home to go
to college at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I rolled into school at 7:45 rocking out to Club
Mix 96 cassette tape in my 1999 Nissan Sentra. I was instructed to park my car behind the school near
the track and football field. This was a customary event once a year during the rummage sale days, the
students cleared out and crated a maze of cars from the windows of the cafeteria. Walking into school,
I had no idea about what events would eventually transpire. I went through classes, talked to friends,
and enjoyed being a senior in a school that all the seniors thought they ran . After school, I was out on
the baseball field playing a rival team. It was a fantastic game and more importantly a win. A
celebration and shower brought my best two friends and I out to our cars with nobody else around.
Then it hit me.
I turned to my friends Sam and Jacob and I told them that I felt good. I felt like celebrating, we all

Keep in mind that you can use pretty much any type of wood for this. Cedar, Pine, Juniper, or
Redwood are the preferred types of wood for raised boxes due to their resistance to the elements and
long lifespan but you can certainly use any reclaimed or recycled wood. The one type of wood I would
stay away from is pressure treated lumber as the chemicals used to treat the wood can leach into the
soil. Regular pressure treated lumber sold today has a mixture of chemicals applied to prevent the
moist soil and weather from rotting it. Even though pressure treated wood is certified as safe for
organic growing, some people have reservations about using it, and there are numerous eco friendly
alternatives. More expensive woods, such as cedar, contain natural oils which prevent rotting and
make them much more durable. They are more expensive to buy, but they will last many more years.
Choosing thicker boards can make the wood last longer. For example, 2 inch thick locally sourced
larch should last 10 years, even without treatment.
The first step in this process is to select the area of your yard to place your raised garden. You
preferably want a level area that gets plenty of sunshine. Decide on the size of your bed, which can be
any size from a simple two by two foot box for spice plants or flowers to as large as you want. I
selected an eight by eight box, which I felt was large enough to fit a variety of plants but not too big to
be

Macbeth Historical Context
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth the male characters Macbeth, Macduff, Banquo and Duncan really
give you and insight in to the time the play was written. Shakespeare s Macbeth was written in the
Elizabethan era during King James reign as King over 400 years ago.
King Duncan is introduced to the play in act 1 scene 2. King Duncan is seen as a great, noble, highly
thought of King. He is in The Monarch which is the highest in the social order.
Go pronounce his present death,
And with his former title greet Macbeth. This quote conveys the power King Duncan has and the price
you have to pay for committing reason. King Duncan also thought highly of Macbeth and Banquo and
considers them high up in the social order, as this quote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macduff and Malcolm plan to overthrow Macbeth as he has turned into an evil tyrant and is running
Scotland into the ground.
Make all our trumpets speak give them all breath,
Those clamorous harbingers of blood and death! In this era wars happened quite often because of a
disagreement or problems with a country.
Macbeth is a true example of a tragic hero. At the beginning of the play Macbeth is seen a noble,
brave, great thane and part of The Nobility. In the play the witches played a major part of Macbeth s
downfall. Speak if you can: what are you? This quote is the first encounter has with the witches. King
James was very interested in the supernatural and even wrote about it. Shakespeare may have put
aspects of the supernatural in the pay to keep the King intrigued.
Once Macbeth starts to have murderous thoughts he says this very famous quote;
Stars hide your fires,
Let not light see my black and deep desires.
In the play it emphasises that every evil happened in darkness. Elizabethans also believed in this. I
have no spur
To prick the sides of my intent but only
Vaulting ambition. In theatre Macbeth is known for being ambitious but his vaulting ambition ended
up being his downfall.
In Macbeth, Macbeth was known for his relationship with his controlling wife, Lady Macbeth. My
dearest love. Not all relationships in that era were genuine but Lady Macbeth and Macbeth seemed to
have an affectionate/strong relationship as the quote

The Congenital Defects Affecting Livestock
Introduction
Physiological anomalies, regardless of animal species, have captured the imagination of people
throughout history, whether it be showcased in a traveling freakshow or inspiring mythical creatures in
the likes of Cerberus. Congenital duplication refers to birth defects in which a fetus is born with extra
appendages, organs, or other bodily characteristics due to a multitude of causes [1]. These include
maternal deficiencies and diet, environmental factors, genetics, as well as bacterial or viral infection in
utero [1]. The congenital defects affecting livestock covered in this factsheet refer to facial or cranial
duplication, known as dicephaly, as well as polymelia, which refers to the presence of replicated limbs
[1][2]. The latter condition, appears in many domestic species, albeit most frequently in cattle [3].
Types of Dicephaly and Polymelia
Dicephaly and polymelia can both be categorized into subgroups according to their respective corporal
duplicate properties.Dicephaly can be divided into two categories, the first being diprosopus
dicephalus, the replication of the face and cranium resulting in two separate heads, and the second,
diprosopus monauchenos, pertaining to the replication of facial structures with a sole neck [4].The
four categories of polymelia include: cephalomelia, which refers to appendages sprouting in the
cranial region, notomelia, in which limbs grow on the back, thoracomelia, involving the thorax, and
pygomelia, relating to growth

Argumentative Essay On Space Shuttles
The purpose of this video essay is to give a stirring reminder that healthy growth occurs slowly over
time. It is important not to rush, but to take the time to do each task before us right the first time,
slowly and deliberately. The illustration is made of the space shuttle being loaded with the potential
energy of rocket fuel, poised to achieve escape velocity. The important thing to remember is that space
is not achieved in an instant, but in the powerful slow burn of the fuel accelerating the shuttle and
launch craft from the takeoff point and away from Earth into the atmosphere. As the video essay
progresses, it goes on to emphasize how birds do not instantaneously leap into the air, but must build
up momentum from a resting position

Hairball Essay
Hairball A solitary woman sits in conversation with a benign tumour that had just recently been
removed from her ovary. As the woman speaks, the inanimate tumour, which she has named Hairball,
looks on from its glass encased perch atop the fireplace. The scene is macabre and certainly unusual,
but such is the life of Kat, the main character in Margaret Atwood s short story, Hairball. Kat s life is
filled with the unusual and the shocking, a lifestyle that has been self imposed. Throughout the years,
Kat, an avant garde fashion photographer, has altered her image, even her name, to suit the
circumstances and the era. Over time Kat has fashioned a seemingly strong and impenetrable exterior,
but as Kat s life begins to disintegrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, when she found her way to England, she became Kat, [the name Kat] was economical, street
feline, and pointed as a nail. The short, hard name was a reflection of her hard demeanor. Kat
constantly tried to separate herself from the commonality of her environment. When she was told that
her tumor was fairly common her reply was that, She would have preferred uniqueness. Kat wanted to
stand out; she did not want to be another Clarissa, Meliassa or Penelope, but she understood that
conformity, to the values of her society, would be a requirement if she wanted to succeed in her
personal and professional life. With this in mind, Kat chose to integrate those values into her own
personal approach.
She d shaved off most of her hair, worked on the drop dead stare, perfected a certain turn of the neck
that conveyed an aloof inner authority. What you had to you had to make them believe was that you
knew something they didn t know yet. (p.17)
As the conflict between Kat and her society, she finds herself losing the fight. Despite accolades she
received while working on the razor s edge, Kat s life is less than successful. Her relationships with
competitive men and left her broken and hurt. Twice she had abortions, because the men in question
were not up for the alternative (pp.17). Kat s choice to

This play is Shakespeare s first play about tragedy. Romeo and Juliet is a very deep and profound play about two star crossed lovers met at a ball. Within this play Shakespeare used deep, complex language to describe their insightful character also their actions towards each other. Romeo and Juliet is about two lovers from families who have set a grudge upon each other, in this complex piece of art William Shakespeare has put the protagonist within ruinous events where love is hard and where love has to be flawless. Then Romeo realises that he made a fatal flaw. As Romeo dies Juliet s loneliness grows over her, from that she stabs her self with Romeo s sword and they both just lay their lifelessly. This play fits within the tragic genre because at Elizabethan times, tragic plays had to incorporate the death of the protagonist at the end, leaving the audience with a feeling of loss, regret and a hollow victory. In this case the protagonists are Romeo and Juliet. The themes that are embraced within this play are mostly arrogance, male pride, secrecy and physical violence. First of all arrogance is shown principally by Mercutio, given in act 3 scene 1, he insults Tybalt by calling him a ratcatcher . The word ratcatcher links in with Tybalt s name which means king of cats . He has much courage to insult the cousin of Romeo s love; also his arrogance overpowers his mind when he tries to scare Tybalt by giving the names of sword s moves ( passado ). • 9. The Last Supper With Jesus And The Synoptic Gospels The Synoptic Gospels describe The Last Supper with Jesus performing many of the traditional elements found during the Jewish Passover as detailed in Exodus. Jesus, himself, was a Jewish man and celebrated this tradition as a part of his faith, so it makes sense that this final meal could hold traditional aspects of a Passover Seder. The three Synoptic Gospels seem to demonstrate parallels between a typical Passover celebration and The Last Supper that Jesus performed. The Gospel of Luke even calls in a Passover meal in chapter 22 verse 15. Joachim Jeremias , The Eucharistic Words of Jesus, comments that there are at least 14 specific parallels between Jesus Last Supper and the Passover Seder as seen through Exodus and the Synoptic Gospels. These 14 points include, worship, discussion of the symbolism of the meal, and bread being consumed. The three Synoptic Gospels tell of Jesus breaking bread with the disciples to symbolize his body which is a parallel to the unleavened bread that the Jewish people were to eat during their Passover meal. In two of the Synoptic Gospels, the group finishes their meal by singing a hymn before leaving the room which follows Moses command from God to the Israelites to worship Him after all the other commands that the Lord had given them for the Passover. During Passover, the recalling of the original event and symbolism of the parts of the meal are to be told and the same traditions are to be followed as the Lord had commanded to Moses and ... Mother, Father, Dick and Jane appear to represent the perfect family. They also appear to be white although not directly stated. The Bluest Eyes is a story of racism and how mean people can be. It is also a story of people wanting to be something they can never be. This showing how other people s thoughts can hold so much value whether they are positive or negative. There is also no such thing as perfect family which the prologue alludes to no matter what background you are. In the start, it says Who will play with Jane? No one ends up playing with Jane as to show how she gets ignored. The theme in this story is so much of these kids wanting to be white because they believe that to be perfect. Pecola goes through this story constantly getting ignored by everyone. Claudia even becomes jealous of a girl who is light skinned and falls into the belief that she wishes she was white. However, new research suggests that there are more variables at play pertaining to peak performance and link an employee s happiness to his or her productivity and a company s success. Research indicates that performance on nearly every level productivity, creativity, and engagement improves when people cultivate and work with a positive mind set. According to Shawn Achor, the author of The Happiness Advantage, Happiness is perhaps the most misunderstood driver of performance. For one, most people believe that success precedes happiness. Once I get a promotion, I ll be happy, they think. Or, Once I hit my sales target, I ll feel great. But because success is a moving target as soon as you hit your target, you raise it again the happiness that results from success is fleeting. Achor explains that when employees develop a positive mind set, they become more engaged, creative, motivated, energetic, resilient, and productive at work. He has observed this effect in his role as a researcher and lecturer in 48 countries on the connection between employee happiness and success. In a study at the University of Warwick, economists discovered employees who were happy increased their productivity by 12%, while unhappy workers were 10% less productive. • 28. The Problem Of Reproducing High Dynamic Range 1 ABSTRACT The problem of reproducing high dynamic range images on devices with restricted dynamic range has gained a lot of interest in the computer graphics community. In this paper, new adjustment tone mapping method is presented for displaying high dynamic range image on low dynamic range device without any lose in image details and preserves image contrast. Instead of linearly scaling the luminance of all pixels or introduce local gamma correction with adaptive parameters for all pixels, the paper core idea is using linear operator in specific pixels and using nonlinear operator in another pixels according to guidance map. The optimal compression can finally be achieved by solving the optimization problem that integrates all window based constraints which can be transformed to a sparse linear equation. 2 INTRODUCTION High dynamic range is a digital photography technique that collect multiple exposures of the same scene where captured with different exposure settings and merged using image editing camera software to create a more realistic image called HDR images. The dynamic range of a scene, image or imaging device is defined as the ratio of the highest to the lowest luminance or signal level. High dynamic range image can capture great dynamic rage that represents the whole tonal range of real world scenes. • 31. The Development Of Nature And Nurture In Language Development The basis of language development theories revolves around the idea that, either nature or nurture are more influential than the other in the development of language in children. Language development as defined by, Menyuk, is the acquisition and growth of a societies chosen method of communication, which occurs due to a culmination of cognitive growth and environmental experiences (2005). Nature, is concerned with the biological makeup of an individual that influences their ability to acquire language including, genes and brain function, alternatively, nurture is environmental factors including, culture, family, and experiences (Fellows Oakley, 2014). Nature and nurture both play vital yet highly diverse roles in the acquisition of language and its development. Analysis of the process of language acquisition will reveal that both nature and nurture are vital for successful language development of children. The process by which language is learnt or acquired differs by theory, specifically two alternate perspectives display the basis of nature and nurture. The first theory to be discussed stems off the basis of nurture, the behaviourist theory. This theory draws upon the concept of nature, suggesting behaviour is learnt through experience and reinforced by rewards (Fellows Oakley, 2014). This perspective states children learn from and imitate their surroundings and they are rewarded by responses and the success of their communication, this is an exemplar of acquisition ... Nadsat is mainly spoken by teen troublemakers, such as Alex, because it cannot be understood by mainstream society. The language, in a way, also encourages violence with unique derogatory terms regarding women and rape (Goh 1). Upon understanding the language spoken by Alex, one can further understand his actions and the way in which he is influenced by his surroundings and the rest of society. Goh continues to explain how the use of language in this novel makes a statement about the individual s (Alex s) struggle... for authenticity under dystopian conditions of social control (1). This so called social control is consistent with what Burgess may have seen in the Soviet Union and presents a motive for the way he portrayed the government in the novel. As Alex speaks, the reader can infer that he has been given no choice but to become the vicious criminal that he is. This, in turn, makes the reader feel a certain sympathy towards him despite the despicable nature of his crimes. Also creating a unique theme of sympathy is the use of Alex as a first person narrator. As a first person narrator, one can see Alex s innermost thoughts and experience life as he lives it. Cedar, Pine, Juniper, or Redwood are the preferred types of wood for raised boxes due to their resistance to the elements and long lifespan but you can certainly use any reclaimed or recycled wood. The one type of wood I would stay away from is pressure treated lumber as the chemicals used to treat the wood can leach into the soil. Regular pressure treated lumber sold today has a mixture of chemicals applied to prevent the moist soil and weather from rotting it. Even though pressure treated wood is certified as safe for organic growing, some people have reservations about using it, and there are numerous eco friendly alternatives. More expensive woods, such as cedar, contain natural oils which prevent rotting and make them much more durable. They are more expensive to buy, but they will last many more years. Choosing thicker boards can make the wood last longer. For example, 2 inch thick locally sourced larch should last 10 years, even without treatment.
