MODAL VERBS
Modal Verbs
Modal verbs are a category of auxiliary verbs in English that
express a range of attitudes, including possibility, necessity,
permission, ability, and more. They are used to modify the
meaning of the main verb in a sentence, indicating the speaker's
viewpoint or opinion about the action.
1.No Infinitive 'To': Modal verbs are followed directly by the
base form of the main verb, without "to."
2.Lack of Conjugation: Modal verbs do not change their form
according to the subject.
3.No 's' in Third Person Singular: Modal verbs do not take the
's' ending in the third person singular form.
4.Negation and Questions: Modal verbs are used to form
negative sentences and questions without the use of auxiliary
verbs.
Characteristics of Modal Verbs
