Dulce Et Decorum Est Analysis Essay
Introduction What will i be talking about.
Good Morning today i ll be analysing a poem and a song, the poem is written by Wilfred Owen and it
is called Dulce et Decorum Est and the song that that i will be comparing to this poem is called I was
only 19 by red gum.
Background information on Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred owen
Wilfred Owen was born on the 18th of March 1893, in Oswestry england and grew up in a average
home. After attending school Wilfred Owen begand to find that he had talent in writing poems but was
unsure whether he wanted to sign up to World War 1 to fight for his country of get a job teaching in
england. 29 December 1916 came around and this is when Wilfred Owen was sent away to fight in
World War 1. Wilfred Owen was then sent to france to fight alongside with Lancashire Fusiliers. By
January 6th Wilfred was already writing about the struggles of WW1 and just under a week later they
were marching under heavy gunfire when the poison gas attack happen this is the basis for the poem
Dulce et Decorum Est. In comparison with the song I was only 19 was written in first person by a
group that formed in university and gives the impression that the writers knew someone that ... Show

The poem does this through creating a very horrifying picture in your head of what war really is. One
line out of the poem displays this very well it reads If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood, Come
gargling from the froth corrupted lungs . At home in Britain was propaganda was displayed
everywhere with no such tails of the horrors that happen at war. As you can see in this piece on the
screen war was advertised as heroic from the standing man holding the flag in the picture leading
proudly a war without weapons . Also take note that in this picture it doesn t show any sort of violence
such as gases that were talked about thurully in the

FIN 6425 Arundel Case Guidelines Nimalendran
In this case, a movie industry analyst is asked to evaluate a proposed venture in which a group of
partners would purchase the sequel rights to movies produced by the major studios. Your objective is
to 1) discuss and evaluate the basic concept; 2) determine the value of the sequel rights on a per movie
basis; 3) evaluate the possible upside and potential drawbacks to the proposed plan. As you will see,
the ideas here incorporate elements of capital budgeting coupled with a real options analysis.
Please provide answers to the following questions. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beyond this broad understanding, you shouldn t worry any more about how the specific numbers were
estimated but you should understand how to interpret them. For example for The Burbs, the numbers
in Exhibit 7 suggest that the value of the sequel at t=3 (using the suggested 12% discount rate) is :
NPV (at t=3) = $27.3/1.12 $24 = $0.375 million.
It follows that the NPV at t=0 can be found by discounting the above number three years at 12% doing
so you get a value of $0.2669 million which is an estimate of what you pay for the sequel right at t=0.
Looking at this in terms of an internal rate of return the one year return can be calculated as ($27.3/24)
1=.1375 or 13.75% (this number has been rounded up to .14 or 14% in Exhibit 7). Note that whenever
this IRR is above 12%, the sequel will be positive NPV.
5. Assume that a maximum of ten sequels can be made in any given year (choose the sequels that are
most likely to be made for example if the main character in the film dies then a sequel is unlikely to be
made) Using the same decision tree approach, what would you estimate to be the per movie value of
the sequel rights to the entire portfolio of 99 movies released in 1989 by the six major studios?
6. Using the Black Scholes approach, calculate the per movie value of the sequel rights to the entire

The Rent On Their Honest Tenants
the rent on their honest tenants. 12C Moreover, the estimates do not take into consideration the
secondary cost to society. 12D Critics perceive, aid to counsel will cause frivolous lawsuits in an
already overly litigious society. 33 The impact from this cost can harm landlords bottom line affecting
their chances from receiving loans from banks and access to credit. 34
There are possibilities for a frivolous lawsuit, but the severity of the housing crisis trumps frivolous
lawsuits that are unlikely to make it to trial. The proponents of the frivolous lawsuit argument are
similar to the voting ID argument. It is unfounded that voting ID fraud is rampant, however, the
chances of this happening is less than 1%. 32 One percent is a nominal figure that does not raise a
situation to code red and allows for the disenfranchisement of whole sections of voters. Similarly, the
possibility of a nominal number of frivolous lawsuits brought by indigent litigants should not
disenfranchise the right to representation in housing court. Most importantly, there safeguards and
screening put in place to reduce the chances of frivolous lawsuits. For example, attorneys must listen
and evaluate a case using their legal knowledge to determine if a case is meritless or not. In addition,
the court and the judge must examine the case and can make a determination if the case is meritless or
not. Moreover, landlords bring eviction cases, not tenants.35 Therefore, indigent litigants cannot

Cross Cultural Interview
Cross Cultural Interview
Culture can be defined as a set of practices, traditions, values, or beliefs a group of people share,
whether it be due to ethnicity, gender, age, or even religion. Having different cultures in a work place
can effectively make a business stronger, especially in the United States where it is known a the
melting pot. I know that in the future I could possibly work at a pharmacy that has employees from
different cultural backgrounds. Therefore, learning now how to understand and be more aware of these
differences would be most beneficial. What better way to do so than to interview someone who is as
far from being the same as myself as possible.
For this interview, I chose to ask a crew trainer I know personally named ... Show more content on

During the interview he stated, in order to be happy in business, one has to learn to respect the
abilities, efforts, quirks and opinions of others. I believe that there are various ways in which
individuals can show respect while in business. According to Vlosky, Fontenot, Blalock (2000),
gratitude is of essence in any business. While in business dealings, one is always expected to ensure
that they thank their business colleagues whenever they have done business by assisting or supporting
them in whatever manner. This can be achieved through sending emails, texts, calls to individuals that
you always do business with.
Smith also said that sincerity is one of the major aspects that one can show respect when in business.
While I do believe telling the truth is the best policy as well, sometimes being brutally honest in this
world can bring consequences. Many individuals usually do not like when they are told the truth
especially if it is negative (Vlosky, Fontenot, Blalock, 2000). With this being said I was quite puzzled
by Smith s response. So I asked him how being sincere showed respect. He replied that to show
respect in business one should be sincere while thanking them for their efforts, assistance or good

Murder Conventions
In the film Memories of Murder, director Bong Joon ho utilizes a few different generic tropes rather
than just staying in one specific genre. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in
this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my
opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes
and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only
subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught
the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is
never caught, and usually in crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the film the song comes on the radio, and when the detectives check outside, it has started
raining. They try to call for backup to search the grounds near where the other bodies were found, but
all backup is busy. This is not only extremely dramatic, but also keeps with the crime drama as well
because all of the other police are occupied already. The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes
such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight
play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop
kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated.
Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost
all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be
able to perform his favorite activity. Although Memories of Murder is clearly both a drama and a
crime film, the director s use of comedy along with the subversion of the original genres helps to
offset the dark themes slightly, making the film more unique and

The Village, by M. Night Shyamalen Essay
Matthew Lesko once said, A degree of lying seems to be inherent in all languages and all forms of
communication. Quite often lies are integrated into society in order to manipulate the minds of the
receiver(s) and ultimately shape the community in a particular way. The Village a 2004 by M. Night
Shyamalen is indicative of this fact. A culture (even one based on fear) can flourish through use of
ritual communication. First off to fully grasp the significance of ritual communication behind the
movie, The Village one must first understand what exactly it is. Ritual communication is defined as, A
symbolic process whereby reality is produced, maintained, repaired, and transformed. (Carey, 1989)
The method is dependent on mass forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the dawning of Covington Woods creation, stories were told of terrifying creatures that lived in
the forests. Beasts that were attracted to the color red and repelled by yellow and so traditions began
of avoiding red even to the point of burying crimson flowers that blossomed. Stakes with yellow flags
marked the perimeter of the village and those who kept watch wore cloaks of yellow. Overall the
affect was very convincing and the villagers fear of these beasts kept them content with their way of
life, overall maintaining it. But as is the way of life there was bound to be a hitch that if not repair
could ultimately lead to the town s demise. Lucius Hunt was a man that had no fear of these beasts
that kept the society running. His lack of fear even led him to ask permission to leave the village to
retrieve medicines that would improve the life of the townsfolk. Unsurprisingly the Elders were
stirred; Lucius open mind and lack of fear for his own safety could prove dangerous to the
conservation of their world. With the best of intentions they struck even more terror into the villagers
hearts. Finally Lucius breaks but not because he fears for his own safety but for the welfare of his
beloved Ivy Walker. Unbeknownst to him, his bravery has given courage to Ivy and when Lucius falls
close to death it is Ivy who seeks help to save him. It is at this point in the movie where the audience
sees the power that ritual communication has to shape people. The Elders

The Wanderer Vs. The Seafarer
In the Anglo Saxon story The Wanderer the exile is self inflicted due to the narrator trying to find a
new lord. Similar to the story The Seafarer , the narrator states how lonely he is and how cold he is.
The narrator exiles himself after all his kinsmen and lord are killed most likely during a fight or battle.
The exile is very hard for the narrator because he is all alone. The separation from his kinsmen is the
worst he has ever felt and he does not have anyone else to rely on during his journey looking for a new
lord. The difference between The Wanderer and The Seafarer is that the narrator in The Wanderer did
not choose his exile like the narrator in The Seafarer.

Symbolism In The Stolen Party
Growing up mostly everyone has experienced the feeling of miss conception. In the Stolen Party,
Liliana Heker shows that in like people may feel like they are being accepted when in reality they are
not. Throughout the story Liliana Heker uses symbolism to show the real reason why rosaura is truly

symbolism is the main author s craft. In different examples the description of different is used, that is a
hint of symbolism. That is further explained in paragraph two. In paragraph three a possible counter

she didn t give rosaura one. Rosaura was the only person at the party who didn t get the gift instead
she got money. That was symbolic for her being lesser than all of the other rich kids at the party. That
was more evidence of why symbolism is the main author s craft in The Stolen Party. The most

Ender s Game by Orson Scott Card Essay
Undermined by dread of another extra terrestrial invasion, humanity turns to the youngsters to get
ready for the approaching war. Ender s Game by Orson Scott Card is a novel and Ender s Game
directed by Gavin Hood is the motion picture based very loosely on that novel. So how true to the
book were these producers? Translating a 368 page military science fiction novel from 30 years back
into a 2 hour film regardless of how well approached will have a few aspects of it hit the fan. With the
principle force of the story being fixated on Ender s inward voice and several enormous subplots, a
few components are sure to be not true to the book whatsoever.

In the book, people figure out how to utilize a key bit of innovation in the wake of vanquishing the
buggers. Its official name is the Philotic Parallax Quick Communicator, more commonly known as the
ansible. It permits them to impart at close immediate speed over interstellar separations. It s focused
around the buggers biotic capacity to impart over a kind of clairvoyant hive brain join. The saying
ansible is utilized as a part of the film (once), yet they never clarify the engineering or connection it to
the story. This would be fine with the exception of how it influences the final reveal.
How did Ender know where to discover the bugger queen? Because of a rock formation that had been
purposefully shaped to resemble the fallen castle from a computer game only he had seen. How did
the buggers see Ender s machine diversion? Great inquiry. In the movie it s not clear, however it s
inferred they had some way or another connected into the computer system to which the game existed.
The book s clarification is considerably more agreeable. At the point when Ender goes to Command
School, an ansible sends Ender s commands (obscure to him) to the actual International Fleet as they
battle the buggers. Since the ansible was retro engineered from bugger innovations, the buggers can
take advantage of Ender s correspondences, and take in more about him than anybody could have
anticipated including his memories of the game.

Acute Urbanization And The City Of Mumbai
The year 2010 is estimated to mark the transition of a majority (50.6%) of the world‟s population
from rural to urban. UNPD. (2007) The most alarming implications of rapid urbanization include
irrevocable alteration of local and global environments, unsustainable exploitation of natural resources
and widening social equity gaps within urban areas. With the migration of masses from rural to urban
ares cities are overcrowded and vulnerability and exposure aspects accruing it are in the state of
change. Against this background it is imperative to examine the responses from these urban masses to
the various disasters in the urban areas. One particularly problematic aspect of this challenge is the
selection of appropriate adjustments and adaptations to natural hazards that are exacerbated by
urbanization. The present dissertation seeks to examine the existing approaches to flood hazard risk
reduction in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.Floods are considered the most common and
highly damaging of all hazards, and it has been predicted that they are likely to become more frequent,
more prevalent and more serious in the years to come (Muchtar Bahar 2010) especially in fast
growing cities of the world which are witnessing rapid urbanisation. Compared to other types of
natural disasters, they account for approximately 20 40% of the events which are reported (Sene

The Ten Commandments Of Christianity
The Ten Commandments address the most important aspects of life for a Christian, they instruct
people not to murder, commit adultery, lie, and be honorable. They also instruct people most
importantly to only worship one god, and that is God the Father.
Christianity has deep roots in social justice, and Christians are directed to care for those that are poor,
and those that are afflicted. They are also directed to care for those that have no support system, or are
less fortunate than themselves. The model of behavior people are supposed to follow is that of Jesus,
who reflected God s sense of justice. A main component to Christianity is bringing the gospel of Jesus

Lean On Me By Norman Twain
Lean On Me (Norman Twain Productions, 1989)
The movie Lean on Me was published in 1989. The movie depicts a time period when drug use/
abuse, and violence was very prevalent at Eastside High the inner city high schools in Paterson New
Jersey. Eastside HS having these challenges created a societal view of low expectations for the
students that attended the school. The students that attended the high school were predominately
African American and Latinos, and because of their race they were considered minority groups with
low social economic status and/ or expectations. Throughout the movie the diversity of race, and
social economic statuses were factors mentioned. Another important factor that the movie only
touched on slightly was the challenges with crack cocaine. The 80 s was an era when crack cocaine
was introduced to the inner city communities, causing much destruction to the foundation of families
that had members that indulged in its use. This caused the lack of parent engagement and support
systems for youths. Many of the youths in the movie was raising themselves, which included finding
the means to support their and/ or their family s basic everyday needs such as: food, clothing, and
shelter. That alone opened the door to negative influences like drug dealing, drug use, drug abuse, and
violence. Many of the students at Eastside HS were more focus on everyday survival, then the
importance of having an education and the growth that it would bring them. The movie

A Report On Financial Institutions
Overview:
Financial institutions continues to be challenged by the inherent risks that are associated to the loss of
customer data through the compromise of security controls. As Information Security continues to
grow, the lack of effective security controls such as authentication continues to one of the key
components leading to data breaches across all industries.
For this purpose, SecureKey contracted with a leading independent security governance, risk
management and compliance (GRC) firm Coalfire Systems, Inc., to provide a security review of their
SecureKey briidge.net Connect solution.
Given that, in the age of Internet banking, recent data breaches continue to raise security awareness.
Consequently, many financial institutions are relying on guidance provided by the Federal Financial
Institutions Examination Council ( FFIEC ), in effort to prevent the risk of identity theft and
fraudulent transactions.
Our assessment of the SecureKey briidge.net Connect solution considered FFIEC requirements for
authentication in an Internet Banking Environment. The objectives of our security review included:
1. An assessment of the overall design and architecture of the SecureKey briidge.net Connect solution;
2. Technical evaluations of SecureKey s mobile and web applications authentication capabilities; and
3. Monitoring network traffic to confirm that fields which are configured for encryption do not appear

Analysis Of Orange Is The New Black By Piper Kerman
We were a clan of doctors and lawyers and teachers, with the odd nurse, poet, or judge thrown into the
mix. (Kerman, 5). Piper Kerman came from a family that resident from Boston, Massachusetts with no
intention of returning home Kerman started her adventure. Graduating from Smith College with a
degree in Theater she was already going against the norms for her family. With no set plans after her
graduation, the involvement of drug smuggling influenced her life by being incarcerated for the crime.
Within the memoir, Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman, symbolism is used through everyday
items to represent the awareness of human character and allowing the prisoners to latch onto and
allow them to keep some value of their life. Memoirs are written to tell the unfiltered story of an event
in an individual s life. Every memoir is written differently occurring to how the individual would like
to focus his or her story. Kerman s idea of a memoir differs from the previous memoir we recently
read. The idea of telling not only her story but also the stories of the individuals that are also being
incarcerated with her. With that being said, it seems that Kerman s audience consists of any person
who is not incarcerated, any person who isn t behind bars. She really focuses on stories that truly
define how the prisoners are treated and what they experience during their sentencing. It is important
to Kerman and the other inmates that people hear the truth of what is really happening

Why is the Tralfamadorian idea of time incompatible with free will? Free Will is a philosophical term
of art for a particular sort of capacity of rational agents to choose a course of action from among
various alternatives. In simple terms free will is what makes us able to make a decision, to choose
something you want over something you do not want. Since the Tralfamadorians are aliens and have
the ability to see the fourth dimension they can see things humans cannot see and have a different
understanding of the world, the universe and how everything in life works.
Does Billy Pilgrim exercise his own will at any point in the novel?
Billy Pilgrim comes across as a pretty simple guy, often other people make decisions for him but as he
grows older he takes things in his own hands more often. But does that mean he makes decisions out
of his own will?
Edgar Derby only becomes a character when he chooses to stand up against American Nazi Howard
W. Campbell, Jr. It is this decision to stand up for what he believes in ... Show more content on

Is the free will any more possible to combine it with than with the Tralfamadorian? But do we even
need Free Will and why is it not Free Will if everything is determined from the beginning on? If you
did not know that you did not have a free will it would not bother you. If we can believe what we want
to believe, we can also believe that Free Will is always possible. Even if some things are given and
cannot be changed why should there not be multiple ways to get to the same end? At the same time,
why should we even need free will? Is it not better without it? Everything is predetermined, that may
be frightening to some people but then again, why should it be? It only means that no matter what you
do, no matter how bad a situation may seem it is not even your fault and it will work out in the end,

The Theory And The Psychoanalytic Theory
Although used predominantly to explain the varying characteristics each individual possesses,
personality is also a term often coined to define and explain the reasons behind an individual s
motivations and reactions to certain events, entities and decisions. Defined by Larson Buss, 2005,
personality is the set of psychological traits and mechanisms within the individual that are organised
and relatively enduring, and that influence his or her interaction with, and adaptions to, the
intrapsychic, physical and social environments. As personality encompasses such a wide array of
concepts, there are many competitive theories battling to explain these dynamic ideas. Of these
theories, is the unorthodox Psychoanalytic theory, developed by ... Show more content on

In contrast, the humanistic approach emphasised the conscious awareness of needs, choices and
personal responsibilities of the individual (Lahey, 2009). They believed that the personal worth of the
particular individual, the centrality of human values, and the creative and active nature of human
beings was what defined the person (McLeod, 2007). Basically, the humanistic approach, according to
Abraham Maslow, was that humans are born good and that human nature is compassionate and
positive (Larsen Buss, 2012).
Both the psychoanalytic and humanistic theories differ from one another in multiple ways. One of the
most prominent differences is their view on human nature. As mentioned above, Freud and his
psychoanalytic concept, viewed humans as inherently bad. The id, he defined, operated solely on the
pleasure principle, craving immediate gratification without consideration about moral values and the
harm it could cause (McLeod, 2008). He also believed that the ego and the superego was the minds
way of controlling the id ((Lahey, 2009; Larsen Buss, 2012; McLeod, 2008).
In contrast, humanistic psychologists viewed human nature as fundamentally good. Maslow had a
positive view on men, believing that each had the ability to grow and mature into proper beings, and
make use of their full potential (Boeree, 2000 Larsen Buss, 2012). The main emphasis of the
humanistic approach, was that an individual has free will and this plays an important role in shaping

Fryd Statue Of Freedom Summary
Fryd critics issues in public art, as well as an analysis in the historical developments in public art in
America. He interprets the art of the United States Capital as an ideological tool for promotion of the
nineteen century American expansionist polices and displacement of Native Americans from the land.
But also, he explains how the Statue of Freedom, and the bronze statue atop the U.S Capital dome in
Washington, D.C., was altered to accommodate racial politics of antebellum America. I believe art
comes in role in many aspects in history and politics, such as Fryd examines the objections in both
statues. Fyrd analysis how Davis s objection resulted in Crawford s fusion of three allegories, Liberty,
America, and Minerva.
First Fryd knowledges the secretary of war s rejection of the liberty cap. As Fryd states, However, for
this takes on political implications in relationship to the dissension between the North and South over
slavery, which would eventually erupt into civil war. Crawford had intended to include the liberty cap

how the audience viewed the statue simply as an Indian princess, instead of Davis s own vision of
white superiority that he insisted be represented in the U.S. Capitol dome statue. I found these
observations to be very surprising because art comes along way involved in history. If the detailed

Importance Of Family Relationships
The connection of various individual by marriage, blood, etc are considered as family relationships.
Moreover, these connections are considered to be the most important building block for the
comprehensive development of individuals in our society. Family relationships, whether they may be
harmonious or disruptive, serves as an important driving force for all individuals interactions in the
outside world. While, these relationships may either be destructive or harmonious, they promote the
transmission of good behaviours, cultural influences and other specific ways of life from the older to
the younger members of the family unit. Harmonious relationships are more pleasing and consistently
allows members of the family to feel more comfortable. Also, a strong bond is formed among the
family members. On the other hand, destructive family relationships builds and maintain tension
between the individuals, which ultimately prevents the proper transfer of good values and attitudes to
the members. This type of relationship can be directly attributed to the future problems faced by
individuals nurtured by the a disruptive family. In Two Kind by Amy Tan and Story of the Hour by
Kate Chopin, family relationships plays an important role in the outcome of an individual in both
positive and negative manner.

holds a bachelor s degree in finance, accounting, investment analysis or taxation. A Liberal arts major
or a job seeker with a lower degree also may enter the field, provided he receives practical training.
An investment consultant who has major managerial responsibilities, or advises clients or families

statements, scales income and expense levels and evaluates the risk profile. A client s risk profile
indicates whether he/she prefers risky investments such as stocks or favors less risky assets such as

The Life and Political Career of James Madison Essay
The Life and Political Career of James Madison
James Madison is most widely known as the father of the Constitution. It is a title deeply deserved on
many accounts (Wills 37). Although his many achievements at times are overshadowed by his work
on the Constitution, Madison s life reflects a legislative talent (Wills 3). Through his interest in
politics, he was able to shape the forming nation. Education, illness, and religion dominated the
beginning of James Madison s life; the experiences enabled Madison to write the Constitution as well
as a number of influential essays in response to his views on the incompetent confederacy. Madison
challenged the ideas of the Anti federalists through his strong arguments and rhetoric, ... Show more

Partly because of ill health, but also suiting his bookish nature, Madison spent the years prior to the
American Revolution studying where he resumed his investigations of government (Sheldon 25).
Through these investigations, Madison found himself being drawn down into the real turmoil of
Virginia politics, inflamed by the impending revolution (Sheldon 26).
Madison s high education and religious morals later shaped his political career, while his own ideas
center around a religious emphasis. Garrett Sheldon, who specializes in political philosophy, analyzed
the religious influences in James Madison s ideas. Madison s naturally studious inclinations meshed
nicely with the reformed Christian emphasis on learned faith (2). His writing often reflected the
thoughtful religious faith, reverence for Scripture, and view of his political career as a divine calling
(3). Madison used religious ideals in his reasoning. His ideas came from Protestant theology, and
Madison, under the teaching of the Presbyterian minister, kept notebooks on his studies of John
Locke, Plato, Fontenelle, and Euclid (3 4). His education was full of Christian beliefs as well as
political studies. Madison was guided by the Christian realist views of man s weak, sinful nature and
followed the Calvinist views of human evil (1; 23). Sheldon further concludes that Madison s religious
upbringing underlies his application of other political philosophies and

Our goal as a preschool team is to find an effective approach to preschool writing or a better way of
thinking about the writing process. By providing effective writing opportunities at the preschool level,
our students will become better readers, listeners, and writers. Input Although No Child Left Behind
(NCLB) has focused attention on improving reading and math achievement, little attention has been
given to other subjects including writing. If state or local policies do not support the teaching of
writing, there is a possibility that teachers will neglect writing instruction (McCarthey, 2008). Within
the past few years, my district adopted the STORYtown curriculum for reading and writing as a plan
to improve student literacy scores district wide. Many teachers in my district admitted that since they
struggle with finding time and an effective way of teaching writing, it is often overlooked. Learning to
write is developmentally important for nurturing literate children. To resolve this issue, teachers are
now raising questions about which methods are the best for the learners of today and where to begin
this process. Research cannot identify one single approach to writing instruction that will

these movies are interesting and intriguing, it is not okay to capitalize off the crimes of serial killers.
The only thing productions inspired by serial killers leads to is the serial killer gaining more
confidence and publicity. A few years ago, Stephen King produced a movie based on Dennis Rader

Discipline And Peer Discipline
There are many studies on punishment and discipline. An organization deals with many individuals as
a whole, whether it be a small business or a multi billion corporation Bauman, Tost, and Ong did a
study on how punishment is administered throughout a cooperation based on rank and type of
transgressions they explain that people are less likely to punish a lower level person if they make the
same mistake as a higher level induvial in the company (2016, p 139). One type of discipline in an
organization that happens whether it is a hierocracy or not is peer discipline it is nearly impossible to
avoid. Levine and Modica state The key point is that regardless of contracts and laws the right to
punish exists because other people recognize it as a right and it is part of a social norm that itself is
enforced through peer punishment (2016, p 29). This can be in the form of ridicule, poking fun,
embarrassment or peers pushing for someone s removal. Levine and Modica quote Senator James
Inhofe Army and Marines always feel that when we re out there, we re not doing it for the flag or the

Bp Oil Explosion in the Gulf of Mexico
On April 22 2010, the World faced one of its worst oil spill disasters in the history of marine
petroleum exploration. A deadly oil well blowout at Macondo Prospect, about 41 miles off the
southeast coast of Louisiana, spewed huge quantities of oil for 87 long days causing major
environmental and economic troubles to the Gulf region ( Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill ). It started with a
fire and explosion, killing 11 workers, and then unleashed a slow motion disaster that spread across
the 600 mile gulf coastline. The massive oil spill disrupted lives and livelihoods, and swallowed up
the habitat of many species, leaving their fate to the toxic mix ( Political and environmental Dilemma

According to a report published by US Fish Wild Life on January 25, 2011, local authorities collected
6,124 dead birds and 100 sea turtles ( Wildlife Collection Report ). Wildlife Report Experts contend
that it will take several years to fully assess the environmental and ecological impact of the spill.
The extent of environmental damage is directly proportional to the amount of oil spilled and the area it
covers. Although both BP and government officials initially downplayed the importance of estimating
the extent of the spill, industry and environmental experts said accurate estimates were key to
planning and assessing remediation efforts. The final estimate of the oil spill now stands at 4.9 million
barrels, the volume that far surpassed many previous spills on American soil. A previous accident
caused by the collision of the Exxon Valdez oil tanker in Alaska spilled about 760 thousand barrels,

killing hundreds of thousands of birds and marine mammals and untold numbers of fish and fish eggs
( Gauging the Long Term Impacts ).

Conspiracy Theory Of Pizzagate
The spread of fake news can be detrimental and life altering without checking the validity of sources
and facts before passing on such news to others. Pizzagate was a conspiracy theory that went viral
during the 2016 Presidential Election campaign, which alleged there was a child sex ring taking place
and the top Democrats had something to do with it (Pizzagate: A Slice of Fake News). Some believe it
all started when John Podesta, Hillary Clinton s campaign manager, had his email account hacked.
Tons of emails were leaked and made public. His emails were said to contain coded messages that
referred to human trafficking and were also connected to the Comet Ping Pong pizza parlor (
Pizzagate: A Slice of Fake News). James Alefantis is the owner of the Comet Ping Pong and also an

Hillary Clinton, but no talk happened about the alleged child sex ring. While this news was spreading

The Metamorphosis Analytical Essay
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka can be interpreted in many different ways. Considering the story
from a psychological perspective, one could compare reading The Metamorphosis to a psychiatrist or
psychologist listening to their patient converse about their day, or life. In Jerome S. Gans analysis
Narrative Lessons for the Psychotherapist, he compares the effect the author s story has on the
therapist reader versus the effect that the patient s narrative has on the therapist (Gans 352). Gans
states that not every reader experiences a novel or book in the same way, much like a therapist
consulting a patient. A different reader may have a different view or opinion on the book, whereas a

Unfortunately, after a while she seems to resent Gregor and his hideous transformation. Slowly, the
reader can see the dehumanization that occurs when Grete considers Gregor. Toward the end, Gregor
wishes to hear his sister play the violin and scurries out from his room, disturbing his family and the
tenants of the household. His sister, who had been almost kind in her treatment of Gregor in the
beginning, turned monstrous. We must get rid of it, cried the sister again, that s the only thing for it,
Father. You just have to put from your mind any thought that it s Gregor. Our continuing to think that
it was, for such a long time, therein lies the source of our misfortune (Kafka 1232). His sister did not
originally feel this way, she was the first person to bring her brother food, and attempt to please him
with different food. After a while, she stopped caring whether or not her brother ate, and stopped
caring as to what he preferred to eat. Why does her attitude change? Does she resent having to take
care of Gregor? Does she feel as though it is her responsibility to help him? When does she feel that
the vermin is no longer her brother? Such questions may swarm the readers mind, much like a

My Presentation Of A Training Program
As life is flying past me on both sides, I am walking, no, I am jogging, no, I am sprinting up over the
hill. I can already see the finish line off in the distance, it is still pretty far away but closing in fast. At
this point in the race to the end of the semester I am glad I am going through a training program called
public speaking. There is no way possible I would be over the hill looking down with the finish line in
sight, if it wasn t for this exercise program. This program has been getting me in shape every day since
the start. With two presentations complete I felt a little more confident in my abilities to give a
presentation. I would like to think that I am getting better and better with every opportunity I am given
to speak. My presentation three was an overall improvement off of my presentation two. I took skills
from my first two presentations and blended them with new acquired skills to strengthen Presentation
three. In presentation three, the order I presented my points were; Notable athletes in the pay to play
scandal, the pro s of collegiate athletes getting paid, and the con s of collegiate athletes getting paid. I
chose to do tell the audience about the notable pay to play athletes first because it gives them a little
background information on the topic. Telling them who has been caught in the scandal makes them
feel more relatable to the topic, because now they know who this has affected. Then, I decided to tell
them about the pro s of college

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beyond this broad understanding, you shouldn t worry any more about how the specific numbers were estimated but you should understand how to interpret them. For example for The Burbs, the numbers in Exhibit 7 suggest that the value of the sequel at t=3 (using the suggested 12% discount rate) is : NPV (at t=3) = $27.3/1.12 $24 = $0.375 million. It follows that the NPV at t=0 can be found by discounting the above number three years at 12% doing so you get a value of $0.2669 million which is an estimate of what you pay for the sequel right at t=0. Looking at this in terms of an internal rate of return the one year return can be calculated as ($27.3/24) 1=.1375 or 13.75% (this number has been rounded up to .14 or 14% in Exhibit 7). Note that whenever this IRR is above 12%, the sequel will be positive NPV. 5. Assume that a maximum of ten sequels can be made in any given year (choose the sequels that are most likely to be made for example if the main character in the film dies then a sequel is unlikely to be made) Using the same decision tree approach, what would you estimate to be the per movie value of the sequel rights to the entire portfolio of 99 movies released in 1989 by the six major studios? 6. The Rent On Their Honest Tenants the rent on their honest tenants. 12C Moreover, the estimates do not take into consideration the secondary cost to society. 12D Critics perceive, aid to counsel will cause frivolous lawsuits in an already overly litigious society. 33 The impact from this cost can harm landlords bottom line affecting their chances from receiving loans from banks and access to credit. 34 There are possibilities for a frivolous lawsuit, but the severity of the housing crisis trumps frivolous lawsuits that are unlikely to make it to trial. The proponents of the frivolous lawsuit argument are similar to the voting ID argument. It is unfounded that voting ID fraud is rampant, however, the chances of this happening is less than 1%. 32 One percent is a nominal figure that does not raise a situation to code red and allows for the disenfranchisement of whole sections of voters. Similarly, the possibility of a nominal number of frivolous lawsuits brought by indigent litigants should not disenfranchise the right to representation in housing court. Most importantly, there safeguards and screening put in place to reduce the chances of frivolous lawsuits. For example, attorneys must listen and evaluate a case using their legal knowledge to determine if a case is meritless or not. In addition, the court and the judge must examine the case and can make a determination if the case is meritless or not. While in business dealings, one is always expected to ensure that they thank their business colleagues whenever they have done business by assisting or supporting them in whatever manner. This can be achieved through sending emails, texts, calls to individuals that you always do business with. Smith also said that sincerity is one of the major aspects that one can show respect when in business. While I do believe telling the truth is the best policy as well, sometimes being brutally honest in this world can bring consequences. Many individuals usually do not like when they are told the truth especially if it is negative (Vlosky, Fontenot, Blalock, 2000). With this being said I was quite puzzled by Smith s response. • 6. Murder Conventions In the film Memories of Murder, director Bong Joon ho utilizes a few different generic tropes rather than just staying in one specific genre. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is never caught, and usually in crime ... They try to call for backup to search the grounds near where the other bodies were found, but all backup is busy. This is not only extremely dramatic, but also keeps with the crime drama as well because all of the other police are occupied already. The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated. Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be able to perform his favorite activity. Although Memories of Murder is clearly both a drama and a crime film, the director s use of comedy along with the subversion of the original genres helps to offset the dark themes slightly, making the film more unique and ... Quite often lies are integrated into society in order to manipulate the minds of the receiver(s) and ultimately shape the community in a particular way. The Village a 2004 by M. Night Shyamalen is indicative of this fact. A culture (even one based on fear) can flourish through use of ritual communication. First off to fully grasp the significance of ritual communication behind the movie, The Village one must first understand what exactly it is. Basically, the humanistic approach, according to Abraham Maslow, was that humans are born good and that human nature is compassionate and positive (Larsen Buss, 2012). Both the psychoanalytic and humanistic theories differ from one another in multiple ways. One of the most prominent differences is their view on human nature. As mentioned above, Freud and his psychoanalytic concept, viewed humans as inherently bad. The id, he defined, operated solely on the pleasure principle, craving immediate gratification without consideration about moral values and the harm it could cause (McLeod, 2008). He also believed that the ego and the superego was the minds way of controlling the id ((Lahey, 2009; Larsen Buss, 2012; McLeod, 2008). In contrast, humanistic psychologists viewed human nature as fundamentally good. Maslow had a positive view on men, believing that each had the ability to grow and mature into proper beings, and make use of their full potential (Boeree, 2000 Larsen Buss, 2012). The main emphasis of the humanistic approach, was that an individual has free will and this plays an important role in shaping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through his interest in politics, he was able to shape the forming nation. Through these investigations, Madison found himself being drawn down into the real turmoil of Virginia politics, inflamed by the impending revolution (Sheldon 26). Madison s high education and religious morals later shaped his political career, while his own ideas center around a religious emphasis. Garrett Sheldon, who specializes in political philosophy, analyzed the religious influences in James Madison s ideas. Madison s naturally studious inclinations meshed nicely with the reformed Christian emphasis on learned faith (2). His writing often reflected the thoughtful religious faith, reverence for Scripture, and view of his political career as a divine calling (3). Madison used religious ideals in his reasoning. His ideas came from Protestant theology, and Madison, under the teaching of the Presbyterian minister, kept notebooks on his studies of John Locke, Plato, Fontenelle, and Euclid (3 4). His education was full of Christian beliefs as well as political studies. Madison was guided by the Christian realist views of man s weak, sinful nature and followed the Calvinist views of human evil (1; 23). Sheldon further concludes that Madison s religious upbringing underlies his application of other political philosophies and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
