Essay On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Week Three Essay: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire On March twenty fifth, in the year nineteen
hundred and eleven, over one hundred and forty workers lost their lives in the deadliest factory fire in
American history, when a fire destroyed the Asch Building which housed the Triangle Waist
Company, a clothing manufacture in lower Manhattan, New York City, New York (osha.gov, 2011).
The fire killed mostly young women, some of them as young as fifteen, who were paid only six
dollars a week at that time, and were expected to work over thirteen hours a day, up to seven days a
week (aflcio.org, 2017). The fire caused some major reforms and outcry for changes in, which can all

This commission helped usher in much needed changes on the labor side, which after a few years
developed into the New York State Department of Labor (aflcio.org, 2017). The fire also helped fire
departments not only in New York City, but all over the Nation at that time, make changes to how they
operate. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which was founded in eighteen ninety six,
declared at its annual meeting right after the fire, to all departments nation wide, how important fire
drills were to life safety (Teague Farr, 2009). A few years later the NFPA formed the Committee on
Safety to Life to help with fire codes, regulations and departments. Several years after its
development, they adopted revised specifications to fire escapes, and worked on specific regulations
to exits to buildings and the Building Exit Codes (Teague Farr, 2009). All of their work helped bring
items like fire drills, egress from buildings, sprinklers, fire escapes, and other building code changes.
Fire Departments all over the Nation were also helped and their eagerness to improve and update their
equipment to meet the needs of a changing, and more industrialized and upward bound Nation took
full effect. Improved safety nets, ladders and equipment to reach taller buildings, more water access
points and better personal safety equipment were all a result of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire

Alleviation Of Poverty In Developing Countries
Alleviation of poverty is one of the major goals of developing countries and international assistance
agencies. Poverty eradication and promoting sustainable development are the two most important
challenges faced by the world. For the achievement of this goal raising education levels, offering
comprehensive medical services, improving lifestyles, and a nation s openness to trade and investment
are the important objectives that needs more attention. Poverty leads to stagnant economies. Trade
benefits are different in every country and some developing nations do not get positive impacts of
volume of their exports. Poverty is not only lack of income, it includes various concepts such as
social, economic, and political elements. Developing countries depend upon economic and national
growth for the eradication of poverty. Rural areas have poorer access to education and health but
people usually live in healthier and safer environments. (wadel 2016)
Developing countries have become convinced that trade can have significant effects on their total
income and on their development. Most believe that the effects of climate change will be particularly
damaging to poor countries, while some of the measures proposed to mitigate it could provide
significant financial benefits. Although they are not the most important or direct policy instruments
against poverty, the outcomes of trade and climate change negotiations matter. Some countries made
gains on agriculture and

Concept Analysis Nursing
1. Concept has diverse and dynamic meaning. It can be described or classified in various ways. It is a
symbolic statement which describes a phenomenon that occurs in nature or thought. The meaning of
concept may be abstract such as hope, desire, love or concrete such as airplane, body temperature,
pain. Concepts are expressed in a word, two words, or a phrase that allows people to communicate
their meanings about realities. For example, grief, job satisfaction, health promoting behaviors.
Similarly, these symbolic statements can directly or indirectly be seen, tasted, smelled or touched.
Concept is important approach to build theory. Concepts are used as bricks in theory building.
Additionally, meaning and definition of concept are based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some concepts are borrowed from other disciplines and some are developed directly within the
nursing field. The most commonly used concepts in nursing are i) abstract or concrete concepts ii)
variable or nonvariable concepts and iii) theoretically or operationally defined concepts. In my
opinion, abstract (general) concepts need to be defined more clearly for nursing. For example, spiritual
care. In nursing, this concept cannot be measured directly. Assessment of this concept is based on
indirect measurement. This concept is not observable directly or indirectly. This is independent of time
and space. This type of abstract concept does not have directly observable properties. Therefore, it
needs to be more explicitly defined.
Among different methods of concept analysis, Rodgers Process of Concept Analysis looks to be the
easiest to use. This method analyzes concept through six different steps to simplify the meanings of
word/ words or phrase and to define terms(concepts). This analysis process helps writer and readers to
understand meaning of concept and share a common language. Rodger s six steps of Process of
Concept Analysis includes:
1. Identify the concept and associated terms; 2. Select an appropriate realm (a setting or sample) for
data collection; 3. Collect data to identify the attributes of the concept and the contextual basis of the
concept; 4. Analyze the data regarding the characteristic of the concept; 5. Identify an exemplar of the
concept, if appropriate; 6. Identify hypotheses and implications for further

One Of Ours Book Cover Analysis
This book cover is appealing to me because it shows a peaceful farm with clouds hovering above it.
The cover depicts the first part of the novel when Claude is one his farm in Nebraska. It shows his
farm and his fortunate house in the view, and has peaceful shades of color making it an attractive book
cover. I chose this image because One of Ours by Willa Cather has several different book covers. This
is one of the most appealing to me because they not only provide a pretty picture but provide an
illustration of events that occurred in the novel. This book cover, in particular, illustrates the days that
Claude had on the farm in the first two parts of the novel. It is also the farm that Claude grew up in so
it would only be logical for it to provide a feeling of tranquility and calmness when looking at a
hometown. It may even remind someone of their own hometown, and all of the joys and memories
made as a child. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has the Nebraskan tone to it because there is nothing but crops for miles. This could represent the
blandness or emptiness that Claude felt while he was still in Nebraska with his family. In the cover all
that is shown is Claude working on the crops by cutting them down. This hard task is dull and could
represent the blandness and lack of interesting things in his time in Nebraska. Nebraska is usually
associated with the Great Plains and its rural locations that farmers live on. It appears, because of the
use of colors, that it is similar to other mid western works of art. I like this art because it can directly
relate to Claude if were to have survived the war. The piece of art reminds me of The Grapes of Wrath
cover because of the colors and the rural feeling it has. Obviously, the scene shown would have taken
place early on in the novel because he is still manually working on the farm by himself. (Homer n.p).

Recalled To Life Literary Analysis
One of the major themes portrayed in the book is theme of the possibility of resurrection. It is
interpreted literally and/or figuratively. One example is from the first book titled, Recalled to Life ,
which talked about saving Lucie Manette s dad, Dr. Alexander Manette, from the Bastille that he was
kept in for eighteen years. Dr. Manette used to have a happy and peaceful life, but when he was
imprisoned, he became mentally ill. However, when Lucie entered his life, he gradually went back to
his old self. Here, Lucie, in a way, brought him back to life or resurrected him. Another example is
Charles Darnay. He was affected by Lucie, that he asked for her to wed him and bring another life into
the world. She acknowledges it, and it formed a

Clara Barton
I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I can
stand and feed and nurse them. A quote by Clara Barton, American civil war nurse and founder of the
American National Red Cross (Lewis). By many, Clara is said to be The Angel of The Battlefield ,
how does one acquire such a title (Allen)? Through her family life, her efforts providing relief to
soldiers on the front lines, and her work with the international and american red cross, she earned the
title of The Angel of the Battlefield (Clara Barton).
December 25, 1821, Clara Barton was brought into this world in North Oxford, Massachusetts. Her
father worked as not only a farmer but also as a state lawmaker. He even served in the American
Revolution (Allen). One of Clara s most famous quotes The patriot blood of my father was warm in
my veins (Lewis) illustrates her dedication to the patriot cause, likely brought upon by her father s
influence. Her mother, Sarah, was responsible for urging Clara to become a teacher due to how well
spoken and well read she was at such a young age (Clara Barton Biography). At the age of eleven,
Clara says that she was given the task of caring for and looking after her brother who had fallen in. In
exchange for her aid and care, Clara s brother taught her skills that would provide very useful ... Show

The Cycle From Nomadic To Sedentary And Then Conquered
The cycle from Nomadic to sedentary and then conquered by nomads would spin its wheel right into
the mighty Empire of Europe, as Roman expansion in Europe spreading its resources thin and the
migratory period of nomadic tribes, like the Germanic Goths, to expand south near the black sea, from
Scandinavia in the late first century AD. The Roman empire had always been on the offense for
centuries, conquering territory after territory, but with every large empire, military units needed to
increase to keep its boarders safe from invaders. Rome would rely on hiring foreign tribes as
mercenaries in the north for protection, but even with this, the Emperor Diocletian would split the
empire into four sections for better management. The Goths had ... Show more content on

The welcoming party was short lived, as the Visigoths were treated inhumanly by the Romans,
allowing many to starve to death, and exploiting the children of Goths in exchange for dog meat.
Feeling betrayed, in 376 AD, the Goths rebelled against Rome by plundering the nearby towns with
whatever they can take. The Goths would continue pillaging the countryside of Rome, gathering
resources and soldiers made up of prisoners of Rome and former slaves, and in 378 AD they went up
against the emperor Valens himself at the battle of Adrianople. Consequently, Emperor Valens, along
with two thirds of his armies, perished under the brute force of Fritigern armies. This was one of the
most devastating defeat to the Romans in centuries. The Visigoths armies would split in 380 AD with
the Greuthungi going north to invade, and the Therving going south. The new Eastern Roman
Emperor, Theodosius I, would campaign against the Goths and either defeated or signed a peace treaty
with the Greuthungi Goths. Western Rome would send two generals to help its eastern counterpart
against the remaining Goths producing no results, and in 382 AD, Rome would end the war with a
treaty, allowing land distribution to the visigoths, while they agreed to produce men for Rome s ever
diminishing military. Rome would break the treaty with the foreigners after the death of Theodosius I
a few years later, creating a series of catastrophic events for the western division of the empire. In 397

Shakespeare s Use of the Supernatural in Macbeth Essay
The supernatural was a popular element in many of the plays written in Shakespeare s time (including
Hamlet) and everyone of Shakespeare s time found the supernatural fascinating. Even King James I
took a special interest in supernatural and written a book, Daemonologie, on witchcraft. It must be
remembered that, in Shakespeare s day, supernatural referred to things that were above Nature ; things
which existed, but not part of the normal human life and unexplainable. The play Macbeth involves
many supernatural actions that act as a catalyst for suspense and thrill, insight into character,
foreshadowing of future events as well as making connections with the theme.
In the opening scene of the play, the entrance of the three witches ... Show more content on

Scene iii. Line 58) is also an element of supernatural. Later on in the play, we found Macbeth
constantly relying on the witches supernatural powers and their ability to call out the three apparitions,
yet another symbol of the supernatural. Over here, the calling out of the apparitions as supernatural
elements in the play could be intended to increase the thrill and suspense of the audience. At the same
time, bear in mind that Shakespeare had the play performed for King James I, perhaps, the
supernatural scenes on the witches is intended to cater to King James I s personal interest.
It is also noted that the presence of the witches in every scene, is often accompanied by thunder and
dark skies, as though Nature is disturbed and troubled by their presence and supernatural forces. The
disorder and disturbance of Nature in the presence of the witches supernatural forces could also reflect
the disorder portrayed in the play as soon as the Great Chain of Being was violated when Macbeth
murdered King Duncan and assumed the throne.
Terrible and peculiar incidents of the supernatural surfaced after King Duncan was murdered. Life
literally, is turned upside down. The day was covered with darkness, and an owl; an untameable bird
of night and death kills upon a falcon, a day creature and a royal companion. Also, King Duncan s
horses became mad and ate each other. (Act II. Scene iv. Line 10 19). These supernatural surfaced

Role of Federal Government in Women s status Getting equal rights as men have not been a very easy
journey for women. Throughout the history of United States, women have been suppressed by men.
They were only considered good to be a housewife, and nothing else. Men and surprisingly enough,
some women also believed that women do not have a place in the public sphere and only men can
work outside the home. Soon there were protestors who wanted equal rights as men. When women
were fighting for their rights, on certain occasions, the federal government, especially the judiciary
branch, went against them and did not pass the laws that were beneficial for women. Instead of

Significance Of The Magazine
There are a lot of excellent significant landmarks that can be commemorated by a coin by the colonial
Williamsburg foundation; but here are the four structures that are worthy of being commemorated:
The Bruton Parish Church, the Capitol, the Governor s Palace, and the Magazine. Commemorate
means to honor a certain place or a person. All these structures are important, but the most significant
structure to commemorate is clearly the Magazine. According to my research, the Magazine is the best
choice because it succeeds all of the goals it has to meet, it has a lot of historical significance, it is
relevant to citizens today, and it has a connection to the mission statement The future may learn from
the past. . The paragraphs below will explain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the Magazine started the Revolutionary War which gave our country independence! The
Revolutionary War started when Lord Dunmore and his British troops stole all the colonists
gunpowder from the Magazine. According to my research, the British also set a spring gun trap and
whenever somebody opened the door, it would activate. Two young men snuck into the Magazine and
tried to steal guns so that they could join The Revolutionary War and fight for their state; even though
they were underage to join the militia. When they opened the door, the spring trap sprung and hurt the
two young men setting off the spark that started the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War was
Significant because after we won the war the Declaration of Independence was made and signed. The
Declaration of Independence made us our own state and it let us have our own government. The
Americans were very happy because they didn t want to be told what to do from a king who is lives
over at the other side of the sea! Last but not least the Revolutionary War was a very historical
significant war. Overall the Magazine deserves a commemorative coin to honor it because it gave us

Essay on The Death of the Fox in The Fox by D.H. Lawrence
The Death of the Fox in The Fox by D.H. Lawrence In D.H. Lawrence s story The Fox , there are
many different aspects and passages that can be discussed. The one that strikes me the most is when
Henry kills the fox. It s me, says Henry; I ve shot the fox. (612) It signifies Henry s big conquest. It is
a sign that he has succeeded to possess March. From the very beginning of the story, the fox is
described as a demon at the Bailey Farm. The fox carried off the hens under the very noses of March
and Banford (582) who take care of the farm. It seems like the fox is successful in avoiding March and
Banford and the fox really exasperated them both (582). However, one evening, March sees the fox
and he sees her. She was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fox dominated her unconsciousness, possessed the blank half of her musing (585) no matter what
she had been doing. The fox just seems to have mystical power over her. She wants to be
unconsciously possessed by him. After months passes, March still cannot get him out of her mind.
Then Henry, the reality figure of the fox, emerges. Henry Grenfel, who is so soft and courteous in
speech, not wanting to say much himself (595) attracts Banford. On the other hand, March identifies
him with the fox. March and Banford agree to allow him to stay for a short while. March feels like
Henry, or the fox, is there with her and she does not have to go after him anymore. Again, she gave
herself up to a warm, relaxed place, almost like sleep, accepting the spell that was on her (591). March
averts her face from Henry and shrinks from the light because she wants to be possessed by him. At
the same time, Henry has a spirit of a hunter. He wants to bring down March as his quarry, to make
her his wife (597) He thinks that it is a good idea to marry March and then have her and the farm for
his own. So then Henry expresses his feeling, Well I wanted to ask you to marry me (598). Although
she refuses, a great relaxation seemed to have come over her (598). In her heart, March feels
somewhat relieved, happy, and confused at the same time. She is still thinking about the fox. Henry
realizes this and confronts March, You thought I was the fox, did

Abstract Mead amp; Hampson (1996) developed a study involving the divided visual field paradigm

Data Randomization Essay
3. PROPOSED WORK
Many techniques have been proposed to protect C and C++ programs from memory error exploits.
Several tools analyze the source code to find the vulnerabilities but they are not sufficient because of
imprecise results and raising false alarms.
Many memory safe dialects of C such as Clured and Cyclone that prevents the entire memory exploit
but the limitation with these dialects is that they require the modification to the source code.
The general working steps of the data randomization is as follows:
Step 1.) Perform static analysis to compute equivalence classes.

Jacques Louis David Essay
David was the virtual art dictator of France for a generation. Extending beyond painting, his influence
determined the course of fashion, furniture design, and interior decoration and was reflected in the
development of moral philosophy. His art was a sudden and decisive break with tradition, and from
this break modern art is dated.
David studied with Vien, and after winning the Prix de Rome (which had been refused him four times,
causing him to attempt suicide by starvation) he accompanied Vien to Italy in 1775. His pursuit of the
antique, nurtured by his time in Rome, directed the classical revival in French art. He borrowed
classical forms and motifs, predominantly from sculpture, to illustrate a sense of virtue he mistakenly

During the Restoration David spent his last years in Brussels. As a portraitist he was at his most
distinguished, although he belittled this painting genre. Using living, rather than sculptured models, he
allowed his spontaneous sentiment to be revealed. In these last years his portraits, such as Antoine
Mongez and His Wife Angelica (1812; Lille) and Bernard (1820; Louvre) are enormously vital and in
them the seeds of the new romanticism are clearly discernible.
Jacques Louis David was born into a prosperous middle class family in Paris on August 30, 1748. In
1757 his mother left him to be raised by his uncles after his father was killed.
He was never a good student in school in his own words, I was always hiding behind the instructors
chair, drawing for the duration of the class .
When David was 16 he began studying art at the Acad eacute;mie Royale under the rococo painter J.
M. Vien. After many unsuccessful attempts, he finally won the Prix de Rome in 1774, and on the
ensuing trip to Italy he was strongly influenced by classical art and by the classically inspired work of
the 17th century painter Nicolas Poussin. David quickly evolved his own individual neoclassical style,
drawing subject matter from ancient sources and basing form and gesture on Roman sculpture. His
famous Oath of the Horatii was consciously intended as a proclamation of the new neoclassical style

Microsoft Azure And Google App Engine Essay
Data location and data segregation are of importance in the cloud, given the disparate physical
location of shared computing resources. It is a possibility that cloud users be under statutory,
regulatory or contractual obligations to ensure that data is held and managed in a certain way. To
understand where the data is stored in the cloud, a person must what type of cloud deployment models
there are in use. There are four different cloud deployment models that are used in the cloud
computing environment. The four models are private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud and
community cloud. A private cloud can be owned or leased and managed by the organization or a third
party and exist at on premises or off premises. A public cloud is an infrastructure is provided to many
customers is managed by a third party and exist beyond the company firewall, examples would be
Microsoft Azure and Google App Engine. A hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more cloud
deployment models, which links data in such a way that the data transfer takes place between them
without affecting each other. An example of a hybrid cloud would be Amazon Web Services (ABS).
The community cloud is a model that is shared by several organizations for a shared cause and may be
managed by them or a third party service provider and rarely offered cloud model. The cloud
environment operating according to this model may exist locally or remotely. An example of a
Community Cloud includes Facebook. Most customers

Assignment #3: iPremier
BADM 350 1. How well did the iPremier Company perform during the seventy five minute attack? If
you were Bob Turley, what might you have done differently during the attack?
Normally, a company would follow emergency procedures while dealing with crises, but in iPremier s
case, there was no emergency procedure available. Under these circumstances, and with no prior
experience with security breaches, I believe the company performed well. Bob Turley communicated
well with the other members of the company, but if I were in his shoes, I would have been more
conservative and acted faster.
In responding to the crisis, there were two main issues that iPremier faced understanding the attack,
and restoring order. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
iPremier s procedures were absolutely deficient. They had an outdated emergency manual that
employees couldn t find, and almost couldn t access the data center. Additional measures they could
have implemented long before the attack include revising the emergency procedure and making sure
all employees know how to follow it. 3. Now the attack has ended, what can the iPremier Company do
to prepare for another such attack?
While I mentioned revising the emergency procedure in the previous question, there are other ways to
prepare as well. iPremier could implement a method to escalate unsatisfactory service from Qdata to
higher level management; if they switch to a data center with open lines of communication, the next
crisis would be easier to handle, or it might even be completely averted. 4. In the aftermath of the
attack, what would you be worried about? What actions would you recommend?
I would be worried about three issues, including the identity and motivation of the hacker, the amount
of data that was taken from iPremier, and public disclosure. Since Bob didn t pull the plug, there is a
log documenting what happened during the attack I would start by analyzing the log and trying to
solve the first two issues. Public disclosure is a legal matter, yet it affect thee public image of
iPremier, so I would consult with both Warren and Stewart to see both PR and legal s perspective on
the attack, and formulate a public statement

Systematic Economic Change and Poverty Reduction: The Effects of Governance on Inequality
Liberalization is a term that has dominated the minds, and governments of Latin America from the
advent of the region encompassing debt crisis of the 1980s. Many reforms, with the idea of opening up
the market and reducing barriers to trade in order to increase growth, control inflation, and reduce
social unrest, have taken hold in the region in notable countries such as Mexico. In, Programs on
Poverty and Inequality: Chile, Mexico, and Peru, John Sheahan explores the reasons as to why
liberalization programs have seemingly worked in some countries, and have had lackluster effects in
others. Chile, for example, is often cited as the shining beacon of economic example in Latin America,
and is also grouped in with the East Asian economies that developed to the level of Western Europe
from the 1980s onwards. Conversely, Mexico has had disappointing growth that has never recovered
to pre 1980s levels, along with social unrest and failures in governance. This paper will explore the
questions: Why does poverty persist so much in some countries in the region e.g. Mexico, and Peru to
a lesser extent, and why does it seem effectively controlled in other parts, such as in Chile? Sheahan
argues that direct social programs are increasing in popularity as effective forms of controlling the
negative effects of liberalization reforms, but that they

Sistah Tongue Language Analysis
Way of Life Language is unique to the human race and it is vital to communication. Language varies
from land to land but the point is to get the message across and every language was made to do so,
even creole. Creole language is a language that is specific to a community or even state. Although,
nations argue that one language should be central to the whole world. That s a line that shouldn t be
crossed. In Lisa Kanae s novel, Sistah Tongue , it was very inspiring when she stated that Speakers of
Creole languages should never be perceived as mere casualties of insularity, ignorance, and social
isolation (Kanae ?). This is inspiring because I myself speak Hawaii Creole English (HCE) and it is

The thing about discrimination is that it would take everyone s cooperation to make it disappear even
just for a second but even if that happened, who says that it wouldn t spawn up again from someone s
grudge from another. Discrimination from the use of a language is very common. In Sistah Tongue,
Kanae s little brother, Harold boy, was discriminated by his mother. The mother said that you not

Harold Boy has one speech impediment which Kanae thinks that idea is mento , which is crazy. She
thinks that idea is crazy because Kanae believes that Harold boy is smart and he can communicate
with his family just fine. I can relate to this because I was told that speaking Pidgen in the classroom

in IB and advanced placement classes and I used to speak Pidgen in class. That was until the teacher
of my IB English class called me out and told me to not speak like that in class. When I did speak it,

The Good And The Evil
The Good and The Evil
There is good and there is bad, I was only twelve when I figured this out the hard way. It was late
during school when an alarm went off. I was a kid what can go wrong I thought to myself as I
foolishly opened a door we were clearly prohibited to open because of a gun man near our school.
This very action lead the school to expel me and this would change my life for the good. Although my
bad decisions helped me know better, it s the bad that lead these three myths to suffer long life
consequences that ultimately explain why the earth is why it is today. These three myths show the
struggles and obstacles the Hebrew, Cherokee, and Maori people had to overcome because of their
vicious ways and or their actions under certain obstacles that challenged the people of these myths. In
the Yahweh myth the author communicates In the garden was a snake, and the snake persuaded the
women that she could eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil without dying...She ate
the fruit, and gave some to the man too. (Creation Story World 33). Therefore, the snake making this
bad decision, led to Yahweh cursing the snake shouting, you will be cursed by crawling your whole
life and the women s children will eat you, the women being Eve, whom he had beguiled into eating
from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But not only was the snake cursed, Adam and Eve were
also cursed. Yahweh told Eve that she would be cured to suffer the pain of childbirth and

As Savill (2008) points out, Windows Server 2008 is designed around certain roles and features. A
role is a primary duty that a server performs. Therefore, the managers at Kudler Fine Foods need to
understand what they hope to get out of their server before determining the roles they will apply to
Windows Server 2008. Some possible roles for the server include domain controller, for example.
There are a number of different possible roles available to install. These include the following,
according to Savill (2008):
Active Directory Certificate Services.
Active Directory Domain Services.
Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).
Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services.
Active Directory Rights Management Services.
Application Server.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server.
DNS Server.
Fax Server.
File Services.
Hyper V.
Network Policy and Access Services.
Print Services.
Terminal Services.
Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) Services.
Web Server (IIS).
Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
Of these roles, Kudler Fine Foods can take advantage of many. The most obvious for day to day use
include Fax Server, File Services, and Web Server. Web server is important because it enables sharing
of information on the Internet, intranets, or extranets, (Savill, 2008). A fax server will allow Kudler

Evolution Of Photosynthesis Essay
Approximately 4.6 billion years ago, it is thought that as many of the giant disc shaped cloud of
material keeps spinning they collide with each other forming the sun and other smaller terrestrial
worlds like Earth. The solar winds had less impact on lighter elements and gravity slowly gathered
these gases and dust creating asteroids, comets, and moons.
Earth s rocky core formed first, with heavy elements colliding and binding together. Dense material
sank to the center, while the lighter pieces created the crust. The planet s magnetic field probably
formed around this time. Gravity captured some of the lighter elements that make up the planet s early
atmosphere.

dominated the Earth from 3.5 2.0 billion years ago. Then the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere
suddenly raised from 0 to 10%, in a short period of time. Oxygen was most likely produced by a new
prokaryote called cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria had figured out how to make its own food through

Disadvantages Of Eye Surgery
There are many individuals who suffer from eye conditions that force them to wear contact lenses and
glasses as means of correcting their vision. In such cases, the problem is usually with the shape of the
lens in the eye, and the used of an extra lens makes it much easier for people to focus.
However, there are other technologies that can be used for the same conditions. For instance, the use
of the latest eye surgery technology can help you achieve much better results as compared to using the
special lenses mentioned above. The only thing that deters many people from using laser is the fact
that most of them think that it is a very expensive procedure, and that it may involve a lot of pain.

Endometriosis Pathogenesis
Endometriosis is a benign chronic gynaecological disease characterized by the presence of
endometrium like tissue glands and stroma outside the uterine cavity [1]. This condition may affect up
to 10 15% of women in childbearing age, causing pelvic pain [2], and infertility [3]. Although
endometriosis was first reported by Carl von Rokitansky more than a hundred years ago [4], the
pathogenesis of this condition is still not clear [5]. Sampson s theory of retrograde menstruation is
probably the most accepted among scientific community, though this explanation cannot adequately

Abundant bulk of evidence suggests that patients with endometriosis have an immunity dysfunction
that enables ectopic endometrial cells to implant and proliferate [8 11]. Notwithstanding, the onset and
progression of the disease is probably not only an immune issue, but the result of a complex series of
processes that lead to the attachment of endometrial cells to the peritoneal surface [12], invasion and
estrogen related proliferation [13], vasculogenesis [14], angiogenesis and finally chronic inflammation
[15,16]. Chronic inflammation is associated with an overproduction of prostaglandins [17],
metalloproteinases, cytokines and chemokines, creating a self supporting loop that mantains and
amplificates the progression of the disease [18 20]. Once the process is started, many profibrotic
mediators also play a role in the fibrogenesis associated with endometriosis [21]. From an
immunological point of view, it has been shown that circulating natural killer (NK) cells are capable
of destroying endometrial cells [22]. Thus, it has been proposed that NK cells may have a pivotal role
in the immune control of endometriosis [23,24].

Persuasive Essay On Solar Power
Cars flying across the earth s sky and energy that powers our technology drawn from the sun; this is a
futuristic utopia solely depicted in movies in our modern society. Just two years ago the film Back To
The Future, predicted that we would live in a society like this, yet we have not come even close to
what we were shown in the theaters. Why is that? Well, popularity, and innovation are directly
proportional to each other. We tend to improve on things that we use in our everyday lives; coming out
with better phones, faster cars, and more advance military weapons. Going green and helping the
environment seems to be overshadowed in terms of importance due to the lack of potential profits
outweighing that of the former.
Switching to using solar power and helping the planet is a great and efficacious process and should be
come with a reward. In the sunshine state of Florida, we do not have the ability to power our homes
the green way with solar panels unless we connect it to the power grid, and in addition we are obliged
to pay the utility companies for maintenance of them. Solar panels are already quite costly to install;
Now if you live in Florida, you must pay extra fees for backup power. The main issue is all of the fees
from the utility company (on a monthly basis) can turn solar power from a way to save money and
save the environment to be more of a burden, as a consequence of the extra fees and paper work,
which turns a majority of people away. Solar power is a great way to go green, and this problem
should be resolved so all citizens can afford to make the switch to solar power.
The issue with solar panels is that in certain states it is very costly. So, the benefits of going
completely green and relying on solar energy are not as great. In 2017, one of the biggest problems
facing contemporary society is global warming, which comes primarily from pollution. Pollution that
could be heavily reduced by going green. So, the pressure to go green is on; that being so, why does
the government appear to make going green such a challenge? In an article by Rolf Priesnitz titled
Generating our Own Power he mentions that the government is incentivizing citizens by giving out
loans so that they can afford to go

As I finished the last words of the novel, my jaw dropped. It s such an incredible classic book. Not
truly a science fiction lover, I did not really think I would enjoy it, as I don t really like the aliens and
spaceships in other science fiction novels. The novel is, at first glimpse, a little peculiar and strange,
but once you really get into it, you realize how sad and how good of a moral this story has. It really
draws you in and opens your eyes to the world around you.
The story is told in such a unique way that it hooked me in after the first chapter. It is told in progress
reports of the main character, Charlie Gordon, which is such an academically genius idea because the
reader is able to see how Charlie s intelligence grows. The opening paragraph (the first progress
report), throws us into this world.
Personally, I really do recommend reading this book. The impact the novel can make on a person and
how it easily the novel shies away from the stereotypical ideal classical novel is incredible. It is

The Collective Rather Than The Individual Hero
Joanna Russ argues that science fiction is didactic and that it focuses on the collective rather than the
individual hero while, Samuel R. Delany argues that science fiction is a distortion of the present.
However, they both argue that science fiction must be learned, interpreted, and critiqued differently
than other literary texts because it has its own unique conventions.
Joanna Russ s argument that science fiction in didactic and that it focuses on the collective rather than
the hero is in a plethora of works from Delany to H.G Wells. When specifically focusing on the idea
that science fiction is didactic one can look at Einstein Intersection which, like most of Delany s
novels, teaches us about racial/ethnic differences but, within this novel one could even go as far as to
say that it teaches us about the cruel treatment of prisoners and the mentally insane. This is evident
throughout the book when Delany describes the treatment of these nonfunctionals who are kaged
under lower living conditions. The argument that science fiction is didactic is also seen in H.G. Well s
The Star, which teaches us that human skepticism and arrogance will inevitably be our doom. In the
story we are introduced to a mathematician who knows exactly what will happen when the comet gets
to Earth, He looked at it as one might look into the eyes of a brave enemy. You may kill me, he said
after silence. But I can hold you and all of the universe for that matter in the grip of this little

sort of universality to the group. In other words, if a black man from Kenya was raised in Chicago, IL,
rather than Kenya, due to his biological race, it could be assumed the ... Show more content on

This also doesn t convince us that attributing every individual to a certain category is even beneficial
or necessary.
Ultimately, the paper states that once we designate someone as a certain race, we then have a basis to
differentiate ourselves. This serves a people in power the most, as when the Irish Americans, though
viewed as somewhat unruly, were still able to enter and run for public office because of naturalization
laws of the late nineteenth century. Once it was established in the United States that there were
competing groups out there in the labor force, namely African, Asian, Latin, and Mexican Americans,
it became advantageous to draw a color line to create a large group, those of lighter skin color, to raise
and continue to hold the power through numbers and mass alone.
Once it becomes established that a group s tendencies are of a natural prescription, as in the Ethnic
Notions film, and once the greater society adheres to the simple guidelines fed to them, the argument
is then taken out of the minority group s hands. Immutable then would describe the group lacking
power enough to break the stereotype. This social construction of race, one that lumps a mass of
people into an ambiguous category, becomes an enigma. In order for the group to break free from this,
they must acquire a perspective, but their morale is so beaten that they are happy to have any place in
the society, so the enigma grows. One thing is evident; we could

The Problem Of Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmo ) May...
Humans do some amazing things. The leading force behind our success is innovation. Science s many
advantages make life easier but also include drawbacks. The technology to solve many problems
exists, but our ability to create a solution does not necessarily mean we should. Most problems of
these problems can be fixed, but what is the cost? World hunger is an issue that many people wish
they could solve. It seemed impossible in the past, but modern technology has provided a possible
solution. Given the chance, would you put an end to hunger in this world? Most people would answer
yes but still wonder how this is possible. Genetically modified organisms (GMO) may be a viable
option. These foods are bigger and quickly produced. They have a higher resistance to insect attacks
and can grow in desolate terrains. They appear to be the solution to one of society s biggest problems,
but the side effects are huge. These poorly understood frankenfoods cause numerous symptoms, but
they are still sold to the public. While GMOs appear beneficial, they have ill effects and must be
regulated. Native American tribes started selectively breeding maize more than 10,000 years ago.
Certain seeds were easier to grind, tasted better, and produced bigger plants. Ancient farmers planted
the more desirable seeds for the next year s harvest. The versatile seeds developed the ability to grow
in poor conditions which proved convenient. Other benefits included increased starch production,

The Psychological Side Of The Injury
Personal
It is widely an accepted belief that sports are ninety percent mental and ten percent physical so when
an injury occurs it is just as equal in importance to be aware of the psychological side of the injury as
well as the physical injury. Athletes around the world know not only the physical pain, but the
emotional toll injury places on a person who is sought after to perform their best day in and day out.
Small injuries that lower one s top performance ability, big injuries that force cease of play for any
amount of time, as well as chronic injuries that consistently keep coming back and influence
performance ability for a long time all effect people mentally negatively; some rise above and some do
not. Staying mentally strong during a time of injury is difficult and just as in any difficult situation
people respond differently. Knowing the ways that are typical in response to an injury and being able
to apply positive traits can provide for a much healthier, better, and in some cases faster recovery.
I have always been prone to injury and had to deal with them consistently while growing up playing
sports. My dad has likewise always been my coach and it has been instilled in me since I was young
that the tough play through the pain. Playing through pain puts your mental toughness on display. My
psychological response to injuries when I was younger was looking for someone to console me, but
my dad never did. He always said to go back out there and try to play

Realism And The Struggles Of Women
Realism and the Struggles of Women
Realism and Naturalism are literary movements that appeared across America in the late 19th and
early 20th centuries. The two are sometimes used interchangeably, sometimes used as opposites
(Baym and Levine 902). Realism and Naturalism emerged in numerous aspects of life, but are most
evident in literature. The purpose of realism is to demonstrate idealistic views of life in favor of
detailed, accurate descriptions of the everyday (Baym and Levine 902). On the other hand, naturalism
focuses on a more romantic, view of human life than realism (Baym and Levine 902). Authors that
concentrated on realism include Kate Chopin and Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Within their stories, it
becomes clear on which issues they are bringing to life. Chopin and Gilman discuss the harsh reality
of women during their time in, The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wall paper. Alternatively, these
authors were byproducts for women s rights, as well as realism.
Since the dawn of mankind, women are traditionally recognized as the less dominant sex. History has
shown that women are against this notion and have been seen fighting for equal rights and freedom.
Since the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, also known as the 19th Amendment, women
have proven themselves to be just as capable as men. But before there was a push on equal rights for
women, authors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries had no representation. Authors such as Kate
Chopin and

Visualization In Documentary Film
When we think about visualization and representation, we are talking about not looking at the real
thing but at an image of the real thing. So visualization can be visualized as the real thing imagined,
the real thing represented and the real thing mediated. And the documentary genre attempts to do
exactly the same thing. So in this process of visualization, there comes the creative intervention of the
documentary film maker in all phases of production. In other words, aesthetics plays a vital role in
documentary film. The fact that the film maker s aesthetic concepts bring in an element of subjectivity
into the documentary film poses an important question: in what way, then, a documentary film is
different from a feature film? Where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analyzing The Essay Picture By Laura Williams
At the beginning of my essay, I am going to attach a picture by Laura Williams, one of my favorite
photographer from United Kingdom. I am going to describe her picture and tell the people why this
picture is special to me. After that, I am going to tell my experience that make this picture seems
special. The next thing I am going to do is connect it with the situation of my origin country,
Indonesia, where minorities are treated differently because of our culture. I am also going to share my
arguments about the situation.
After I describe the situation, I am going to intersect it with Edward Said s quote, They are given

The Fat Boy Analysis
The Fat Boy by Owen Marshall is a short story that shows how society in this text influences people
and also highlights the mob mentality of the community. The plot of the text is that the townsfolk
bring into being a fictional personality The Fat Boy , whom they use as a scapegoat for their crimes.
Despite knowing the truth the townsfolk blindly follow the mob, The Fat Boy eventually becomes a
reminder of the towns folks conscience, therefore, to get rid of the constant reminder they get rid of
The Fat Boy. Hence the text also shows how the loss of conscience affects the community negatively
as the whole town choose to turn a blind eye towards the truth. Through the text Marshall reveals to us
the tribal nature of small town behaviour or mob mentality which is shown right from the beginning,
where the text shows twisted equality as the townsfolk are following each other in the crimes, the
crimes becoming greater as the text proceeds: The Fat Boy is scapegoated for thievery followed by
arson, murder, domestic violence, and rape. It is the mentality of he did it so why can t I do it too that
the townsfolk use as an excuse to continue committing crimes, which is part of our nature as we tend
to follow this mentality too, which shows how the mob has influenced members negatively. In the text
we realise The Fat Boy is not real is by the way the people describe him The Fat Boy watched the
passersby with the Frog like, faintly enquiring look that the faces of fat boys have. The

Is Technology Good Or Bad

December 13, 2017
Is Technology Good or Bad For Us? Technology has been around for a very long time now. In some
way or another, it s been a part of people s lives nowadays whether it s cell phones, tv, computers,
tablets, we all own one or more of these things. Digital electronics started between the late 1950 s and
1970 s. According to Forbes, the first document which included the discussion of building a computer
was on June 30, 1945. Back in the day, technology wasn t as popular or used as it is now. It amazes
me to see how much it has grown. From box Tv s to flat screen tvs to smart tv s that can connect to
other online sites such as youtube, and Netflix. Phones have gone from house phones, to flip phones,
to smartphones. It s hard to believe sometimes how far technology has grown. Technology overall, is
good for high school, college students. It helps them in many ways one is being able to do research
online. My question has always been whether technology is good or bad for younger generations by
Dr. Manny Alvarez. As said by him, nearly every modern parent has given a tablet or smartphone to a
child for entertainment. By entertainment, he means letting them watch movies, and cartoons. Almost
every parent that I know has done this at least once. A lot has to do with the baby being grumpy and
parents using technology as an entertainment for them to not cry. Alvarez does state that parents
allowing their children to use

Passover Through Storytelling
Storytelling is a common theme in the human experience. Almost all civilizations have a tradition of
storytelling whether it be folk tales used to teach lessons or stories used to remember the past.
Storytelling is important to Judaism as it is used to recount Jewish history and to teach new
generations about the past to create a better future. Oral tradition and the Torah are used to help
discuss the past. In fact, the Torah itself is storytelling in written form used to preserve history and
traditions. Jewish communities also use storytelling to discuss and debate the past and how it affects
life today. For example, the meanings and rules illustrated in the Torah are often discussed to
determine how they relate to current issues. To do this, the older generations use storytelling and the
Torah to teach the new generations about the history of the Jewish people. Stories are used to explain
the world and to teach people morals and lessons so they can pass them onto their children. This plays
a role in Jewish history and traditions, including Passover. Storytelling is a significant part of the
significance and celebration of Passover. Storytelling is important to the meaning and celebration of
Passover. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passover is based on the story in Exodus. The Israelites were enslaved in Egypt then Moses led them
out of Egypt after the last plague. The night before, Jewish people rapidly prepared to leave. They
sacrificed a lamb and put blood on their doors to protect them. They also made unleavened bread
because they did not have time for it to rise. Moses led them safely out of Egypt, where they were
freed from slavery and developed their new identity as a nation. Passover is centered around the story
of Exodus. Thus, Passover celebrates the liberation of the Israelites and the birth of their independent

  • 3. Essay On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Week Three Essay: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire On March twenty fifth, in the year nineteen hundred and eleven, over one hundred and forty workers lost their lives in the deadliest factory fire in American history, when a fire destroyed the Asch Building which housed the Triangle Waist Company, a clothing manufacture in lower Manhattan, New York City, New York (osha.gov, 2011). The fire killed mostly young women, some of them as young as fifteen, who were paid only six dollars a week at that time, and were expected to work over thirteen hours a day, up to seven days a week (aflcio.org, 2017). This commission helped usher in much needed changes on the labor side, which after a few years developed into the New York State Department of Labor (aflcio.org, 2017). The fire also helped fire departments not only in New York City, but all over the Nation at that time, make changes to how they operate. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which was founded in eighteen ninety six, declared at its annual meeting right after the fire, to all departments nation wide, how important fire drills were to life safety (Teague Farr, 2009). A few years later the NFPA formed the Committee on Safety to Life to help with fire codes, regulations and departments. Several years after its development, they adopted revised specifications to fire escapes, and worked on specific regulations to exits to buildings and the Building Exit Codes (Teague Farr, 2009). All of their work helped bring items like fire drills, egress from buildings, sprinklers, fire escapes, and other building code changes. Fire Departments all over the Nation were also helped and their eagerness to improve and update their equipment to meet the needs of a changing, and more industrialized and upward bound Nation took full effect. • 4. Alleviation Of Poverty In Developing Countries Alleviation of poverty is one of the major goals of developing countries and international assistance agencies. Poverty eradication and promoting sustainable development are the two most important challenges faced by the world. For the achievement of this goal raising education levels, offering comprehensive medical services, improving lifestyles, and a nation s openness to trade and investment are the important objectives that needs more attention. Poverty leads to stagnant economies. Trade benefits are different in every country and some developing nations do not get positive impacts of volume of their exports. Poverty is not only lack of income, it includes various concepts such as social, economic, and political elements. Developing countries depend upon economic and national growth for the eradication of poverty. Rural areas have poorer access to education and health but people usually live in healthier and safer environments. (wadel 2016) Developing countries have become convinced that trade can have significant effects on their total income and on their development. Most believe that the effects of climate change will be particularly damaging to poor countries, while some of the measures proposed to mitigate it could provide significant financial benefits. Although they are not the most important or direct policy instruments against poverty, the outcomes of trade and climate change negotiations matter. Some countries made gains on agriculture and ... • 5. Concept Analysis Nursing 1. Concept has diverse and dynamic meaning. It can be described or classified in various ways. It is a symbolic statement which describes a phenomenon that occurs in nature or thought. The meaning of concept may be abstract such as hope, desire, love or concrete such as airplane, body temperature, pain. Concepts are expressed in a word, two words, or a phrase that allows people to communicate their meanings about realities. Some concepts are borrowed from other disciplines and some are developed directly within the nursing field. The most commonly used concepts in nursing are i) abstract or concrete concepts ii) variable or nonvariable concepts and iii) theoretically or operationally defined concepts. In my opinion, abstract (general) concepts need to be defined more clearly for nursing. For example, spiritual care. In nursing, this concept cannot be measured directly. Assessment of this concept is based on indirect measurement. This concept is not observable directly or indirectly. This is independent of time and space. This type of abstract concept does not have directly observable properties. Therefore, it needs to be more explicitly defined. Among different methods of concept analysis, Rodgers Process of Concept Analysis looks to be the easiest to use. This method analyzes concept through six different steps to simplify the meanings of word/ words or phrase and to define terms(concepts). This analysis process helps writer and readers to understand meaning of concept and share a common language. Rodger s six steps of Process of Concept Analysis includes: 1. Identify the concept and associated terms; 2. Select an appropriate realm (a setting or sample) for data collection; 3. Collect data to identify the attributes of the concept and the contextual basis of the concept; 4. Analyze the data regarding the characteristic of the concept; 5. Identify an exemplar of the concept, if appropriate; 6. Identify hypotheses and implications for further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. One Of Ours Book Cover Analysis This book cover is appealing to me because it shows a peaceful farm with clouds hovering above it. The cover depicts the first part of the novel when Claude is one his farm in Nebraska. It shows his farm and his fortunate house in the view, and has peaceful shades of color making it an attractive book cover. I chose this image because One of Ours by Willa Cather has several different book covers. This is one of the most appealing to me because they not only provide a pretty picture but provide an illustration of events that occurred in the novel. This book cover, in particular, illustrates the days that Claude had on the farm in the first two parts of the novel. It is also the farm that Claude grew up in so it would only be logical for it to provide a feeling of tranquility and calmness when looking at a hometown. It may even remind someone of their own hometown, and all of the joys and memories made as a child. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has the Nebraskan tone to it because there is nothing but crops for miles. This could represent the blandness or emptiness that Claude felt while he was still in Nebraska with his family. In the cover all that is shown is Claude working on the crops by cutting them down. This hard task is dull and could represent the blandness and lack of interesting things in his time in Nebraska. Nebraska is usually associated with the Great Plains and its rural locations that farmers live on. It appears, because of the use of colors, that it is similar to other mid western works of art. I like this art because it can directly relate to Claude if were to have survived the war. The piece of art reminds me of The Grapes of Wrath cover because of the colors and the rural feeling it has. Obviously, the scene shown would have taken place early on in the novel because he is still manually working on the farm by himself. (Homer n.p). (33 Lines; 539 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr. Manette used to have a happy and peaceful life, but when he was imprisoned, he became mentally ill. However, when Lucie entered his life, he gradually went back to his old self. II 31 January 2017 Clara Barton I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I can stand and feed and nurse them. A quote by Clara Barton, American civil war nurse and founder of the American National Red Cross (Lewis). By many, Clara is said to be The Angel of The Battlefield , how does one acquire such a title (Allen)? Through her family life, her efforts providing relief to soldiers on the front lines, and her work with the international and american red cross, she earned the title of The Angel of the Battlefield (Clara Barton). December 25, 1821, Clara Barton was brought into this world in North Oxford, Massachusetts. Her father worked as not only a farmer but also as a state lawmaker. He even served in the American Revolution (Allen). One of Clara s most famous quotes The patriot blood of my father was warm in my veins (Lewis) illustrates her dedication to the patriot cause, likely brought upon by her father s influence. Her mother, Sarah, was responsible for urging Clara to become a teacher due to how well spoken and well read she was at such a young age (Clara Barton Biography). The welcoming party was short lived, as the Visigoths were treated inhumanly by the Romans, allowing many to starve to death, and exploiting the children of Goths in exchange for dog meat. Feeling betrayed, in 376 AD, the Goths rebelled against Rome by plundering the nearby towns with whatever they can take. The Goths would continue pillaging the countryside of Rome, gathering resources and soldiers made up of prisoners of Rome and former slaves, and in 378 AD they went up against the emperor Valens himself at the battle of Adrianople. Consequently, Emperor Valens, along with two thirds of his armies, perished under the brute force of Fritigern armies. This was one of the most devastating defeat to the Romans in centuries. The Visigoths armies would split in 380 AD with the Greuthungi going north to invade, and the Therving going south. The new Eastern Roman Emperor, Theodosius I, would campaign against the Goths and either defeated or signed a peace treaty with the Greuthungi Goths. Western Rome would send two generals to help its eastern counterpart against the remaining Goths producing no results, and in 382 AD, Rome would end the war with a treaty, allowing land distribution to the visigoths, while they agreed to produce men for Rome s ever diminishing military. Shakespeare s Use of the Supernatural in Macbeth Essay The supernatural was a popular element in many of the plays written in Shakespeare s time (including Hamlet) and everyone of Shakespeare s time found the supernatural fascinating. Even King James I took a special interest in supernatural and written a book, Daemonologie, on witchcraft. It must be remembered that, in Shakespeare s day, supernatural referred to things that were above Nature ; things which existed, but not part of the normal human life and unexplainable. At the same time, bear in mind that Shakespeare had the play performed for King James I, perhaps, the supernatural scenes on the witches is intended to cater to King James I s personal interest. It is also noted that the presence of the witches in every scene, is often accompanied by thunder and dark skies, as though Nature is disturbed and troubled by their presence and supernatural forces. The disorder and disturbance of Nature in the presence of the witches supernatural forces could also reflect the disorder portrayed in the play as soon as the Great Chain of Being was violated when Macbeth murdered King Duncan and assumed the throne. Terrible and peculiar incidents of the supernatural surfaced after King Duncan was murdered. Life literally, is turned upside down. The day was covered with darkness, and an owl; an untameable bird of night and death kills upon a falcon, a day creature and a royal companion. Lawrence s story The Fox , there are many different aspects and passages that can be discussed. The one that strikes me the most is when Henry kills the fox. It s me, says Henry; I ve shot the fox. (612) It signifies Henry s big conquest. It is a sign that he has succeeded to possess March. From the very beginning of the story, the fox is described as a demon at the Bailey Farm. The fox carried off the hens under the very noses of March and Banford (582) who take care of the farm. Then Henry, the reality figure of the fox, emerges. Henry Grenfel, who is so soft and courteous in speech, not wanting to say much himself (595) attracts Banford. On the other hand, March identifies him with the fox. March and Banford agree to allow him to stay for a short while. March feels like Henry, or the fox, is there with her and she does not have to go after him anymore. Again, she gave herself up to a warm, relaxed place, almost like sleep, accepting the spell that was on her (591). March averts her face from Henry and shrinks from the light because she wants to be possessed by him. At the same time, Henry has a spirit of a hunter. He wants to bring down March as his quarry, to make her his wife (597) He thinks that it is a good idea to marry March and then have her and the farm for his own. So then Henry expresses his feeling, Well I wanted to ask you to marry me (598). Although she refuses, a great relaxation seemed to have come over her (598). Extending beyond painting, his influence determined the course of fashion, furniture design, and interior decoration and was reflected in the development of moral philosophy. His art was a sudden and decisive break with tradition, and from this break modern art is dated. David studied with Vien, and after winning the Prix de Rome (which had been refused him four times, causing him to attempt suicide by starvation) he accompanied Vien to Italy in 1775. During the Restoration David spent his last years in Brussels. As a portraitist he was at his most distinguished, although he belittled this painting genre. Using living, rather than sculptured models, he allowed his spontaneous sentiment to be revealed. In these last years his portraits, such as Antoine Mongez and His Wife Angelica (1812; Lille) and Bernard (1820; Louvre) are enormously vital and in them the seeds of the new romanticism are clearly discernible. Jacques Louis David was born into a prosperous middle class family in Paris on August 30, 1748. In 1757 his mother left him to be raised by his uncles after his father was killed. He was never a good student in school in his own words, I was always hiding behind the instructors chair, drawing for the duration of the class . When David was 16 he began studying art at the Acad eacute;mie Royale under the rococo painter J. M. Vien. After many unsuccessful attempts, he finally won the Prix de Rome in 1774, and on the ensuing trip to Italy he was strongly influenced by classical art and by the classically inspired work of the 17th century painter Nicolas Poussin. David quickly evolved his own individual neoclassical style, drawing subject matter from ancient sources and basing form and gesture on Roman sculpture. It is a possibility that cloud users be under statutory, regulatory or contractual obligations to ensure that data is held and managed in a certain way. To understand where the data is stored in the cloud, a person must what type of cloud deployment models there are in use. There are four different cloud deployment models that are used in the cloud computing environment. The four models are private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud and community cloud. A public cloud is an infrastructure is provided to many customers is managed by a third party and exist beyond the company firewall, examples would be Microsoft Azure and Google App Engine. A hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more cloud deployment models, which links data in such a way that the data transfer takes place between them without affecting each other. An example of a hybrid cloud would be Amazon Web Services (ABS). If you were Bob Turley, what might you have done differently during the attack? Normally, a company would follow emergency procedures while dealing with crises, but in iPremier s case, there was no emergency procedure available. Under these circumstances, and with no prior experience with security breaches, I believe the company performed well. Now the attack has ended, what can the iPremier Company do to prepare for another such attack? While I mentioned revising the emergency procedure in the previous question, there are other ways to prepare as well. iPremier could implement a method to escalate unsatisfactory service from Qdata to higher level management; if they switch to a data center with open lines of communication, the next crisis would be easier to handle, or it might even be completely averted. 4. In the aftermath of the attack, what would you be worried about? What actions would you recommend? I would be worried about three issues, including the identity and motivation of the hacker, the amount of data that was taken from iPremier, and public disclosure. Since Bob didn t pull the plug, there is a log documenting what happened during the attack I would start by analyzing the log and trying to solve the first two issues. • 23. Systematic Economic Change And Poverty Reduction James Stewart Matias Bianchi LAS/POL 364 11/2/2015 Systematic Economic Change and Poverty Reduction: The Effects of Governance on Inequality Liberalization is a term that has dominated the minds, and governments of Latin America from the advent of the region encompassing debt crisis of the 1980s. Many reforms, with the idea of opening up the market and reducing barriers to trade in order to increase growth, control inflation, and reduce social unrest, have taken hold in the region in notable countries such as Mexico. In, Programs on Poverty and Inequality: Chile, Mexico, and Peru, John Sheahan explores the reasons as to why liberalization programs have seemingly worked in some countries, and have had lackluster effects in others. Chile, for example, is often cited as the shining beacon of economic example in Latin America, and is also grouped in with the East Asian economies that developed to the level of Western Europe from the 1980s onwards. Conversely, Mexico has had disappointing growth that has never recovered to pre 1980s levels, along with social unrest and failures in governance. This paper will explore the questions: Why does poverty persist so much in some countries in the region e.g. Mexico, and Peru to a lesser extent, and why does it seem effectively controlled in other parts, such as in Chile? Sheahan argues that direct social programs are increasing in popularity as effective forms of controlling the negative effects of liberalization reforms, but that they ... Persuasive Essay On Solar Power Cars flying across the earth s sky and energy that powers our technology drawn from the sun; this is a futuristic utopia solely depicted in movies in our modern society. Just two years ago the film Back To The Future, predicted that we would live in a society like this, yet we have not come even close to what we were shown in the theaters. Why is that? Well, popularity, and innovation are directly proportional to each other. We tend to improve on things that we use in our everyday lives; coming out with better phones, faster cars, and more advance military weapons. Going green and helping the environment seems to be overshadowed in terms of importance due to the lack of potential profits outweighing that of the former. Switching to using solar power and helping the planet is a great and efficacious process and should be come with a reward. In the sunshine state of Florida, we do not have the ability to power our homes the green way with solar panels unless we connect it to the power grid, and in addition we are obliged to pay the utility companies for maintenance of them. Solar panels are already quite costly to install; Now if you live in Florida, you must pay extra fees for backup power. The main issue is all of the fees from the utility company (on a monthly basis) can turn solar power from a way to save money and save the environment to be more of a burden, as a consequence of the extra fees and paper work, which turns a majority of people away. Solar power is a great way to go green, and this problem should be resolved so all citizens can afford to make the switch to solar power. The issue with solar panels is that in certain states it is very costly. So, the benefits of going completely green and relying on solar energy are not as great. In 2017, one of the biggest problems facing contemporary society is global warming, which comes primarily from pollution. Pollution that could be heavily reduced by going green. So, the pressure to go green is on; that being so, why does the government appear to make going green such a challenge? However, they both argue that science fiction must be learned, interpreted, and critiqued differently than other literary texts because it has its own unique conventions. Joanna Russ s argument that science fiction in didactic and that it focuses on the collective rather than the hero is in a plethora of works from Delany to H.G Wells. When specifically focusing on the idea that science fiction is didactic one can look at Einstein Intersection which, like most of Delany s novels, teaches us about racial/ethnic differences but, within this novel one could even go as far as to say that it teaches us about the cruel treatment of prisoners and the mentally insane. This is evident throughout the book when Delany describes the treatment of these nonfunctionals who are kaged under lower living conditions. • 40. It s Time to Move Beyound Race Essay In Michael Omi and Howard Winant s essay Racial Formation , we see how the tendency to assign each individual a specific race as misleading. This essay suggests that race is not merely biological, but rather lays more in sociology and historical perspective. Once we look at someone and say, They re white , it brings forth all the stereotype s that go along with that race , and once the race is assigned, it is assumed that we can know something about the person. Indeed, if we were to accept that people do fall nicely into specific races, it would seem to ascribe a sort of universality to the group. In other words, if a black man from Kenya was raised in Chicago, IL, rather than Kenya, due to his biological race, it could be assumed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also doesn t convince us that attributing every individual to a certain category is even beneficial or necessary. Ultimately, the paper states that once we designate someone as a certain race, we then have a basis to differentiate ourselves. This serves a people in power the most, as when the Irish Americans, though viewed as somewhat unruly, were still able to enter and run for public office because of naturalization laws of the late nineteenth century. Once it was established in the United States that there were competing groups out there in the labor force, namely African, Asian, Latin, and Mexican Americans, it became advantageous to draw a color line to create a large group, those of lighter skin color, to raise and continue to hold the power through numbers and mass alone. Once it becomes established that a group s tendencies are of a natural prescription, as in the Ethnic Notions film, and once the greater society adheres to the simple guidelines fed to them, the argument is then taken out of the minority group s hands. Immutable then would describe the group lacking power enough to break the stereotype. This social construction of race, one that lumps a mass of people into an ambiguous category, becomes an enigma. In order for the group to break free from this, they must acquire a perspective, but their morale is so beaten that they are happy to have any place in the society, so the enigma grows. One thing is evident; we could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Problem Of Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmo ) May... Humans do some amazing things. The leading force behind our success is innovation. Science s many advantages make life easier but also include drawbacks. The technology to solve many problems exists, but our ability to create a solution does not necessarily mean we should. Most problems of these problems can be fixed, but what is the cost? World hunger is an issue that many people wish they could solve. It seemed impossible in the past, but modern technology has provided a possible solution. Given the chance, would you put an end to hunger in this world? Most people would answer yes but still wonder how this is possible. Genetically modified organisms (GMO) may be a viable option. These foods are bigger and quickly produced. They have a higher resistance to insect attacks and can grow in desolate terrains. They appear to be the solution to one of society s biggest problems, but the side effects are huge. These poorly understood frankenfoods cause numerous symptoms, but they are still sold to the public. While GMOs appear beneficial, they have ill effects and must be regulated. Native American tribes started selectively breeding maize more than 10,000 years ago. Certain seeds were easier to grind, tasted better, and produced bigger plants. Ancient farmers planted the more desirable seeds for the next year s harvest. The versatile seeds developed the ability to grow in poor conditions which proved convenient. The Psychological Side Of The Injury Personal It is widely an accepted belief that sports are ninety percent mental and ten percent physical so when an injury occurs it is just as equal in importance to be aware of the psychological side of the injury as well as the physical injury. • 43. Realism And The Struggles Of Women Realism and the Struggles of Women Realism and Naturalism are literary movements that appeared across America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The two are sometimes used interchangeably, sometimes used as opposites (Baym and Levine 902). Realism and Naturalism emerged in numerous aspects of life, but are most evident in literature. The purpose of realism is to demonstrate idealistic views of life in favor of detailed, accurate descriptions of the everyday (Baym and Levine 902). On the other hand, naturalism focuses on a more romantic, view of human life than realism (Baym and Levine 902). Authors that concentrated on realism include Kate Chopin and Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Within their stories, it becomes clear on which issues they are bringing to life. Chopin and Gilman discuss the harsh reality of women during their time in, The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wall paper. Alternatively, these authors were byproducts for women s rights, as well as realism. Since the dawn of mankind, women are traditionally recognized as the less dominant sex. History has shown that women are against this notion and have been seen fighting for equal rights and freedom. Since the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, also known as the 19th Amendment, women have proven themselves to be just as capable as men. But before there was a push on equal rights for women, authors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries had no representation. Authors such as Kate Chopin and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Visualization In Documentary Film When we think about visualization and representation, we are talking about not looking at the real thing but at an image of the real thing. So visualization can be visualized as the real thing imagined, the real thing represented and the real thing mediated. And the documentary genre attempts to do exactly the same thing. So in this process of visualization, there comes the creative intervention of the documentary film maker in all phases of production. In other words, aesthetics plays a vital role in documentary film. • 46. The Fat Boy Analysis The Fat Boy by Owen Marshall is a short story that shows how society in this text influences people and also highlights the mob mentality of the community. The plot of the text is that the townsfolk bring into being a fictional personality The Fat Boy , whom they use as a scapegoat for their crimes. Despite knowing the truth the townsfolk blindly follow the mob, The Fat Boy eventually becomes a reminder of the towns folks conscience, therefore, to get rid of the constant reminder they get rid of The Fat Boy. Hence the text also shows how the loss of conscience affects the community negatively as the whole town choose to turn a blind eye towards the truth. Through the text Marshall reveals to us the tribal nature of small town behaviour or mob mentality which is shown right from the beginning, where the text shows twisted equality as the townsfolk are following each other in the crimes, the crimes becoming greater as the text proceeds: The Fat Boy is scapegoated for thievery followed by arson, murder, domestic violence, and rape. It is the mentality of he did it so why can t I do it too that the townsfolk use as an excuse to continue committing crimes, which is part of our nature as we tend to follow this mentality too, which shows how the mob has influenced members negatively. In the text we realise The Fat Boy is not real is by the way the people describe him The Fat Boy watched the passersby with the Frog like, faintly enquiring look that the faces of fat boys have. It s hard to believe sometimes how far technology has grown. Technology overall, is good for high school, college students. It helps them in many ways one is being able to do research online. My question has always been whether technology is good or bad for younger generations by Dr. Manny Alvarez. As said by him, nearly every modern parent has given a tablet or smartphone to a child for entertainment. By entertainment, he means letting them watch movies, and cartoons. Almost every parent that I know has done this at least once. A lot has to do with the baby being grumpy and parents using technology as an entertainment for them to not cry. • 48. Passover Through Storytelling Storytelling is a common theme in the human experience. Almost all civilizations have a tradition of storytelling whether it be folk tales used to teach lessons or stories used to remember the past. Storytelling is important to Judaism as it is used to recount Jewish history and to teach new generations about the past to create a better future. Oral tradition and the Torah are used to help discuss the past. In fact, the Torah itself is storytelling in written form used to preserve history and traditions. Jewish communities also use storytelling to discuss and debate the past and how it affects life today. For example, the meanings and rules illustrated in the Torah are often discussed to determine how they relate to current issues. To do this, the older generations use storytelling and the Torah to teach the new generations about the history of the Jewish people. Stories are used to explain the world and to teach people morals and lessons so they can pass them onto their children. This plays a role in Jewish history and traditions, including Passover.
