Movie Special Effects
Special effects play a huge role in the film making and the movie industry. It has transformed
throughout the years from silent films to huge explosions and animated characters. I agree that without
special effects, the viewers would lose concentration and the story line would be lost. I personally
enjoy movies with effects because it creates something more than just a movie. It gives you a chance
to become engaged and the ability to feel as if you are with the characters and their experiences
throughout the movie. Special effects would not be where they are today without the help of advanced
technology such as the computer. From past films to present, you can see the transformation in the
effects by the use of animated characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As time continues and evolves, movie lovers standards change as well. In order to keep up with their
needs, movie producers need to contribute and exceed their boundaries as well. Each movie that is
produced to the public has raised the bar more and more. I like how you added the 3D effect because
this has emerged from special effects and gives the audience an experience like no other. I saw the
movie Space and I have never seen a movie like it. The whole movie took place in outer space and
showed the difficulties within the spaceship. The story line was intense and left you on the edge of
your seat, but what really made it stand out was the use of 3D imagery. It definetly showed me a
different side to movies and was left wanting to see more films like that. It is truly amazing to see the
work produced by film makers and producers. It is an art that is constantly growing and improving to
give the audience a movie experience they will never forget. Agreed that without special effects,
movies would not be the same. Special effects have become a necessity in the movie industry and has
left us wanting more. In the future, I too see a huge a breakthrough and we will witness incredible

Ritual Observation Of The Amida Buddha
Ritual Description
For my ritual observation I took part in a Jodo Buddhist Sunday service at *******. The temple
visited is located in West Los Angele. As I entered the temple I was immediately greeted by a woman
and her husband. I explained my reasoning for attending the service, and they were happy to guide me
through the service step by step. A we entered the Hando (main Hall) my attention was immediately
drawn to what is known as the Amida Buddha. The Amida Buddha is the Buddha of wisdom and
compassion. On the left of the statue sat an alter with lit candles and floral decorations along the
edges. In the center of the alter sat a single scroll. Within the scroll was the Nembutsu written in
Japanese. The Nembutsu or the Nemu Amida Butsu is something to be recited in the form of Buddhist
incantation and recitation used as a form of meditation. On the right side of the statue was a picture of
Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jodo Buddhism. I was handed a service book and a program that had
both Japanese and English translations so I could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sensei sometimes known as the reverend is the main religious specialist in the service. He is the
on the leads the ritual from start to finish. In the beginning of the service the Sensei walks to the back
of the Hando to welcome in all the children and walk them to from of the Sangha (congregation). At
this point in the service the Sensei acknowledges and welcomes the congregation and speaks about the
relationship between world , the Amida Buddha, and our five senses. Lasting about five minutes, the
Sensei begins the recitation of the Nembutsu or the Namu Amida Butsu. The Nembutsu is the original
Sanskrit phrase meaning I take refuge in Amida Buddha . Immediately following the recitation of the
Nembutsu is a brief moment of silent meditation. After begins the chanting of the Vandana and Ti

Claudius Ptolemaeus Research Paper
Claudius Ptolemaeus is a Greco Roman who is also known as Ptolemy is a mathematician,
geographer, poet, and an astronomer. He was born in Alexander, Egypt and is of Greek descent. His
name is a mixture of Greek, Egyptian, and Latin. Ptolemy was born in 100 AD in Alexander, Egypt.
Alexander was a Roman province in Egypt, allowing Ptolemy to be a Roman citizen. Nothing
concrete is known about him but bits and pieces have been concluded from his writings. He wrote
books such as Almagest. Almagest is an astrological book that governed astronomy for over
millennium years. The meaning of Almagest into the English language has evolved over different time
periods. In the beginning Almagest meant The Mathematical Compilation but today it means The
Greatest Compilation . He first titled it as Mathematical Treatise but Almagest is a later combination

Ptolemaeus gave credit to those who came before him and laid the foundation for his work. People
and geniuses such as Aristole, Hipparchus, Menelaus of Alexandria, and Theon of Smyrna, were some
of his inspirations. Ptolemy s table of the lengths of chords in a circle is the earliest surviving table of
a trigonometric function. He also applied fundamental theorems in spherical trigonometry (apparently
discovered half a century earlier by Menelaus of Alexandria) to the solution of many basic
astronomical problems (Jones 2017). Ptolemy justified the former lie that everything revolved around
the earth. He used Aristotle s earth centered theory to defend this. In particular he introduces
trigonometrical methods based on the chord function Crd (which is related to the sine function by sin a
= (Crd 2a)/120). Ptolemy devised new geometrical proofs and theorems. He obtained, using chords of
a circle and an inscribed 360 gon, the

Backtesting Var Models
Backtesting VaR models: Quantitative and Qualitative Tests Carlos Blanco and Maksim Oks This is
the first article in a two part series analyzing the accuracy of risk measurement models. In this first
article, we will present an overview of backtesting methods and point out the importance of
conducting regular backtests on the risk models being used. In the second article, we will present an
alternative to measuring VaR using a top down or macro approach as a complementary tool to
traditional risk methodologies. Should risk models be accurate? Firms that use VaR as a risk
disclosure or risk management tool are facing growing pressure from internal and external parties such
as senior management, regulators, auditors, investors, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is always better to be approximately right than exactly wrong. Determining the accuracy of VaR
models How can we assess the accuracy and performance of a VaR model? To answer this question,
we first need to define what we mean by accuracy. By accuracy, we could mean: How well does the
model measure a particular percentile of or the entire profit and loss distribution? How well does the
model predict the size and frequency of losses? Many standard backtests of VaR models compare the
actual portfolio losses for a given horizon vs. the estimated VaR numbers. In its simplest form, the
backtesting procedure consists of calculating the number or percentage of times that the actual
portfolio returns fall outside the VaR estimate, and comparing that number to the confidence level
used. For example, if the confidence level were 95%, we would expect portfolio returns to exceed the
VaR numbers on about 5% of the days. Backtesting can be as much an art as a science. It is important
to incorporate rigorous statistical tests with other visual and qualitative ones. Simple Backtesting: VaR

Safety Issues for Women Traveling Solo
Stay Safe But Don t Stay Home

Women are frequently warned about independent international travel. Unfortunately, it is true that
women are much more likely than men to be the victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault. In
virtually every country I have visited I heard from female travelers and volunteers who had been
subjected to frequent come ons, unwanted touching, or inappropriate comments, in the words of one
Peace Corps volunteer. Harassment and assault range from verbal harassment, to crude propositions,
to groping (especially by men in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from local women. In Mexico, for example, women often sit together, even if they don t know each

Be careful about letting your guard down while on vacation. Travel with a group at night. Before
you leave home, talk to other women who have traveled in the countries you plan to visit. The in
country program director cautioned us against looking or staring at the men for too long at a time; this
could be misinterpreted since the women in the local villages were taught not to make eye contact
with the men. Be ready to give up some freedoms that you are used to at home. Females must take
care with their dealings with any male older than 14 and younger than 75. I was often misunderstood
at first and didn t realize that plain speaking and looking at a man directly when speaking to him could
be misinterpreted as flirting. I learned quickly to be very formal and to always involve several people
in any conversation. Don t be afraid to ask about the security situation where you are posted and find
out about any prior incidents that may have occurred in the area. When it comes to your life, you can t
be too cautious. No matter what you do or don t do, remember that it is not your fault if you are

The Negative Impacts Of Social Media, Technology And Privacy
Social media and technology play major roles today. For example, we use technology and social
media to connect with one another and attain knowledge. While these advancements have helped
improve our quality of life, there are a multitude of negative aspects that come alongside today s
technology. There are countless of victims who have had to go through issues dealing with privacy
and securing personal data. These negative factors can cause personal harm, such as, the loss of
personal information and the manipulation of firsthand assets. We are connected to numerous websites
and applications that have our personal information on their records. These applications are not always
secure as we would hope they would be. For example, I have had issues in the past with my
PlayStation account being hacked. I enjoy playing a variety of games which I buy through the
PlayStation Store while having payment methods on file. I was locked out my out my personal
account with my PayPal account information still logged on. When logged on my account, anything
on the store can be purchased without anyone needing to know my PayPal account details. Purchases
can be charged to my PayPal ranging from two dollars to more than two hundred dollars. When I was
locked out of my PlayStation account, I was not sure who was on it and if they had bought anything at
all. Per an article by The Guardian, Sony has warned that the names, addresses and other personal data

The Pros And Cons Of The British Empire
Did you know that the British Empire, the most extensive empire in world history, ruled
approximately 1/4 of the world s population and covered about 1/4 of Earth s total land area which
explained how and why Britain was gaining so much power? It s recognizable that Britain only gains
global power because the advantages of regional issues in Europe such as trading, compromising and
finances. During the 18 century, Britain and France fought many battles causing issues to Europes
people leaving them with nothing and nothing to look to, But today you cannot tell they were enemies.
The other countries in Europe had a disadvantage to these three things so they lacked the skills of
gaining power so if they are lacking the skill it shows them that they didn t have enough power to

Finances was another reason why Britain had global power when Britain had the chance to get or earn
money they did. For example, when Britain made the Bengali government pay for paying military
expenses and war transportation, This gave them much more of a reputation. When Britain agreed to
MirJafar paying the troops if he needed them again for war showed that Britain got what they wanted
and forced them to get what they needed, The British also had help when Spain taxed the Spanish
colonist to sell goods. The reason the British needed the products to be taxed was so they could gain
higher profits and power, by them making a higher profit allowed them to get things they needed for
war. The reason Britain has so much money is that they made allies with people and made
compromises, Britain did a trade for trade that guaranteed they wouldn t have to pay for the war. This
caused Britain to gain the most power and control europe by doing things that involved selling and
fighting to show that they are the big team and will always

When Oprah gave away Pontiac G6 sedans to her TV audience, was the value of the cars taxable? On
Labor Day weekend in 2006, World Furniture Mall in Plano, Illinois, gave away $275,000 of furniture
because the Chicago Bears shut out the Green Bay Packers in the team s football season opener at
Lambeau Field in Green Bay (26 0). Was the free furniture in the form of a discount or rebate taxable,
or should the furniture company have handed the customers a Form 1099 MISC?
Response
After thoroughly researching taxable and nontaxable income, the Pontiac G6 sedans awarded to Oprah
s television audience would have been subject to federal taxation and included in their gross income.

market share in the US and a global turnover of $312 billion, is the most famous example of a
successful retail strategy. However, Wal Mart s international operations spread across 14 markets
outside US, has been a mixed bag of experiences for the company. Despite Wal Mart s impressive
track record and strength, the question is, How can it stay ahead? given the rapidly changing retail

Corporate Culture
A strong emphasis on customer service, and highly motivated personnel (helped by a quasi religious
corporate culture) has been nurtured over the years. In doing so, Wal Mart ratcheted up its own overall
productivity — and made it impossible for any competitor to survive without emulating its template.
All the same its corporate culture has lent it a certain strategic complexity that makes it difficult to
emulate.
Economies of Scale
The scale of Wal Mart s operations has given it primarily two advantages:
Learning curve effect: Un matched expertise in retail business in the US has lead to very high
productivity levels. Years of trial and error with various store formats and distribution channels has
resulted increased organizational leaning and reduced operational costs.
Cash Reserves: This enables Wal Mart to respond to changes in the environment and competitor
moves very quickly. It also enables expansion plans with exactly causing a lock out since there is no
dearth of funds.

Ethical And Ethical Ethics Of The International Arena Essay
Conducting ethical business in the United States can be seen as clear cut to us. Although we are a
diverse nation, as U.S. citizens, most gain experience in the professional environment where ethics is
explained thoroughly enough that one is able to determine what is ethical and what is unethical. When
it comes to ethics in the international arena, Thomas Donaldson explained how that structure almost
does not exist since ethical culture, practices and the social norm is different in each country. In the
article, Donaldson debunked previous theories like cultural relativism and ethical imperialism while
coming up with a guideline that can help companies proceed in understanding cultural difference
while still being ethical. (Donaldson, 1996, pp. 48 52) As I read through the article, it made me
remember past events that had cultural dilemma while helping me find new ways to help my ethical
decision making skills. Key lessons from the article was the way Donaldson explained how there was
no exact way to deal with foreign business practices since they differ in each country. Cultural
relativism is defined as no culture s ethics are better than any other s; therefore, there are no
international rights or wrongs. As cultural relativism lives by the saying when in Rome, do as the
Romans do but it proves to be inadequate since rules and regulations differ in each country. The article
states that cultural relativism is morally blind . (Donaldson, 1996, pp. 48 52) Another

Franchising Is A System Or Method Of Marketing A Product...
In general, franchising is a system or method of marketing a product or service. Since a Franchisor
develops a special product, service or system and has been recognized in nation, then it is possible to

throughout the world. Another definition emphasizes that franchising is an agreement between two
legally independent parties. (Lafontaine and Shaw, 1999) In this agreement business owner

Figure 1 Franchising Concept
According to the Department of Commerce, the following are some of the major reasons why
companies decide to franchise (Selig, 1998)
Franchising provides an effective method for raising capital to finance expansion.
Franchising enables the franchiser to pool resources, advertise and promote, achieve economies of
scale in purchases, expand internationally and develop new products and services.
Franchising provides the franchiser quality control, consistency, and uniformity over goods and
services produced and/or distributed as well as media, public relations, image and appearance.
Franchising provides flexibility for respond¬ing to changing customer needs and emerging markets
within a wide variety of sectors.
Individuals become franchisees for a number of reasons.
Individuals, who want to become business owners versus employees, are not comfortable doing it
alone, but are comfortable working within a framework such as a franchise.
Individuals want to pursue the American dream of achieving high rewards through risk sharing in a
quasi structured environment.
Individuals want the benefits of a franchiser s name recognition, network, systems, training, and

Comparing Kafka s Metamorphosis And Siddhartha
Often times when trying to find a simple way to depict our existence, we come across such sayings as
the river of life or the path of life. These are not accurate depictions, however, due to the fact that we
are not on a set course to a set destination. Rather, we roam about existence like sheep in a pasture
with no specific destination or means of arriving there. In many books such as The Metamorphosis by
Franz Kafka and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the main character s very identity is shaped by the
choices of their past, but that is not who they have to be. The choices of Gregor Samsa from The
Metamorphosis lead to extreme life changing and identity changing experiences. Gregor, for many
years had been the sole provider for his family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Siddhartha represents all of humanity, in that he is many things, yet he is himself. He is a Brahmin, a
Samana, a ferryman, and he is Siddhartha still in all these things. Unlike Gregor, Siddhartha is very
active in his quest for destiny. His choice to leave his father and all he had ever known is not
influenced by any force other than the thirst for knowledge sending him on the quest for the meaning
of life. Just as a sheep wanders in a pasture, Siddhartha wandered the wilderness in pursuit of his true
self. He searched his soul to find his place in the world and the unity of all. He examined how his Self
responded to hunger, pain, and all achings of the physical in order to reveal the strength of the
spiritual. When Siddhartha entered into the world of ordinary people, he fed his physical being and
through that discovered the weakness of his spiritual. Siddhartha finally quenched his thirst for
knowledge at the river, where he found wisdom. Siddhartha knew who he was and at the river, he
discovered why he had to go on the path that he did, and he found peace and discovered how he fit
into the universe along with all other things. Siddhartha s identity at that point had little to nothing to
do with who he had been. Yes, he was once a Samana, a Brahmin, a ferryman, but what mattered was
that he was now at

Essay on Power of Nuclear Energy
Abstract
The use of nuclear energy is a big topic for debate. Many countries have fully embraced it while
others, such as the U. S., haven t. Nuclear energy is feared for its danger and scorned because of its
wastes. On the other hand, nuclear energy does have some pros like cheaper cost of energy and
environmentally safe. Reactor breeders show great promise in nuclear waste, but are it enough to
convince the nation?
Introduction
Nuclear knowledge has existed for a long time. Nuclear Engineering U.S. Department of Energy
relates, ―By 1900, the physicists knew the atom contains large quantities of energy‖ (par 11). Many
others formed good theories, such as Ernest Rutherford and Einstein s contribution with his equation

Nuclear Engineering U.S. Department of Energy explains that, ― It [self sustaining chain] would
happen if enough uranium could be brought together under proper conditions‖ (par 19).
The result of all this talk was that in 1942 Fermi gathered scientists at the University of Chicago to
discuss their theories and possibly create a self sustaining chain reaction. By November of that year
they had constructed plans and were prepared to build this new model known as Chicago Pile 1.
Nuclear Engineering U.S. Department of Energy describes the model as, ―In addition to uranium and
graphite, it contained control rods made of cadmium. Cadmium is a metallic element that absorbs
neutrons. When the rods were in the pile, there were fewer neutrons to fission uranium atoms. This
slowed the chain reaction. When the rods were pulled out, more neutrons were available to split
atoms. The chain reaction sped up‖(par 21). In December of 1942 the scientists were ready to
demonstrate their hard work. This was a huge break through in the nuclear world.
Most of the early research done on nuclear energy consisted of trying to make nuclear weapons. The
experiments were performed in New Mexico under the name of the Manhattan Project. Their efforts
were a success with the creation of the first atom bomb. After World War II though, the use of nuclear
energy was turned more peaceful uses. In 1946 Congress created the Atomic Energy

How to make a small bathroom look bigger
Bathrooms are indispensable for every human accommodation, one cannot ignore the place where one

individual explores her/his individuality, plans about the day and prepare oneself before every great

are compelled to compromise with its size.

Trimmed out in wood or tile, a tall, expansive mirror with lighting installed on top of it, or hanging in
front of it, will double the light s impact and make the space grow. Don t use double mirrors over side
by side sinks either. Again, it will chop up the space. Mirrors reflect light on the surfaces in your
bathroom and can create the illusion of more room. Instead of hanging a tiny mirror above the sink,
use multiple mirrors or cover one whole wall with an oversized one. A full length mirror against the
wall reflects lots of light and will add depth to a narrow bathroom.
Open Shelves Mean More Moving Space
If you absolutely rely on drawers to hide your clutter, consider a floating vanity without legs. These
attach to the wall and keep your floors clear, which can make the room look and feel more spacious.
While cabinets and vanities are must haves in small spaces with little storage, they physically and
visually take up space. Open shelves allow the eye to travel from wall to wall, making the room look
larger. They also force you to be more selective with what you keep in the bathroom, which makes the
space tidier.

The Lord Of Pop By Michael Jackson
At the point when one considers fanciful specialists, it would shock no one that the names of
Beethoven and Michael Jackson would emerge in the discussion. On one hand, you have the Lord of
Pop , who is most generally known for his commitments to contemporary music and move

an examination of two individual pieces particular to both men and the effect they had upon society on
a more general level.

Backtracking almost over a century, we now have Ludwig van Beethoven and his magnum opus, Für
Elise. In 1810, when Beethoven was 40 years of age and right now broadly known as one of the best
authors ever, he made For Elise. It is still speculated as to whom this piece was made in honor out of,
yet in any case it doesn t melt away on the current level of sythesis. Written in A minor for solo piano,
Für Elise is named a bagatelle. These are short bits of music, commonly for the piano, and typically
light and smooth in character. In prior periods, the bagatelle had likewise been composed for an
assortment of instrument arrangements, yet by and large they are heard as solo piano exhibitions. In
reality, the score was not distributed until 1867, 40 years after the passing of the writer. It is presently

The Effect Of Gestational Age And Gender On Fetal And...
A study conducted on Wistar rats at two time points in late gestation investigating the impact of
gestational age and gender on fetal and placental weight. This study demonstrated that fetal and
placental weight increased significantly between days 16 and 21 of gestation whereas gender showed
minimal effect on growth.
Introduction
Fetal development during pregnancy is predominantly related to the placenta and its function in fetal
maternal exchange (Ishikawa et al. 2006). Alterations in the interactions between the fetus and
maternal uterine environment thus permit for the modification in fetal growth. In addition, the
placenta also acts as an endocrine organ that produces hormones necessary for the establishment and
maintenance of pregnancy as well as fetal growth and wellbeing (Malassine, Frendo Evain Brion
2003). Literature suggests fetal growth relies on the mobilisation of maternal nutrients, which involves
placental growth hormone and that dysregulation of the hormone may have an adverse impact on fetal
growth (Newbern Freemark 2011). The placenta consists of two distinct regions, which are the
junctional (JZ) and labyrinth (LZ) zones that differ in morphological and functional terms (Ishikawa et
al. 2006). This complexity therefore reflects the placenta as a highly specialised unit required for the
exchange of gases, nutrients and waste products between mother and fetus as alluded to earlier. The
interrelationship between the fetus and placenta has been made

Moving To America Essay
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by unfamiliar
territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous
country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away
and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
A few months before all of this I was pleased with my calm life in a local city of Taiwan. I settled

Deaf Culture Definition
Culture is a term that is not easily defined, not for lack of trying. When considering Deaf culture
however, it gets even more complex. One definition of Deaf culture by M.J. Bienvenu and Betty
Colonomos describe it as the values, languages, traditions, group norms, identities and rules of social
interaction of a group (Bienvenu, M.J. Colonomos, B. 1989). When first being taught about Deaf
culture, many people assume that things such as hand waving, foot stomping or flickering lights to
gain attention, or relying background information about a person when you first meet, are definitions
of Deaf culture. However, those are simply examples of group norms within Deaf culture, not the
culture as a whole. To reduce a culture down to only the norms of its people is greatly undervaluing it.
Culture is the whole of a people, regardless of what their norms or habits are. That being said, the
Deaf population is a part of a unique culture that values visual language, passed down traditions and
community.
Many Deaf individuals may be bi cultural and have experienced acculturation or enculturation.
Acculturation is the adaption of two or more cultures and adoption of bevioural patterns of the

Medical Ethics As A Moral Compass
Medical Ethics as a Moral Compass
I work for a government run medical center. As an organization we are run by government oversight,
rules and regulations and high powered patient complaints. If a provider is not ethically oriented they
will be found out and dismissed quickly. The flip side of the coin, most people work at this medical
center because they enjoy their work and the patient population. We work well with one another and
come together overall for the common good. There are no incentives which can lead to ethical
misconduct. Additionally, physicians have their own code of ethics. The Hippocratic Oath, is a set of
principles for physicians conduct, which aim to protect the rights of the patient and oblige the
physician voluntarily to behave in an altruistic manner towards patients (Riddick, 2003). The four
basic principles of medical ethics (autonomy, justice, beneficence and non maleficence) form the
foundation for health professionals to guide and decide what practices are ethical. These basic ethical
principles are based on the major documents of healthcare ethics (Hippocratic Oath, Nuremberg code

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Inverter
Abstract: Nowadays an Inverter is most commonly used device in almost every field. An inverter
gives ac square wave output. The objective of this paper is to obtain a three phase ac voltage output of
3 phase inverter in Simulation. An inverter receives dc supply as input and generates an ac output. The
dc input of 3 phase inverter is obtained by constant dc source. The inverter circuit consists of six
IGBTs which are used for conversion of dc to ac supply. Simulation of 3 phase inverter is done in
MATLAB software.
Keywords: 3 phase inverter, constant dc source, MATLAB software, simulink, THD.
Introduction: An inverter is a DC to AC converter, used to convert a dc input voltage into a
symmetrical ac output voltage of desired magnitude and frequency. The waveshape of output ac
voltage of inverter should be sinusoidal. However, practical inverters give output voltage that are non
sinusoidal and contain harmonics. The waveshapes of output voltage are square, quasi square or
distorted sinusoidal. Inverters used in low and medium power applications normally give square or
quasi square wave output. However, in high power applications sinusoidal waveform is required, so
inverters are carefully designed to give sinusoidal output with low distortion. ... Show more content on

Persuasive Essay On Adoption
No not all couples can have a child to love and raise but there is a great opportunity for them to have a
child to love and care for, and that is call adoption. People adopt children for so many reason. It
provides a possibility for an unwanted child to have a home and be loved and had a happy life. There
are so many people adopted and that has changed their life. Don t you wonder where Steve Jobs,
Jamie Foxx, and Babe Ruth would be if they weren t adopted? And I do wonder where I would be if I
wasn t adopted.
One reason why people choose to adopt is because they are unable to conceive kids, or because they
have had miscarriages and don t want to risk losing their child again. Some might adopt stepchildren
or children of family members who aren t financially stable to support their child.
The adoption process can be very long. There is a 10 step process from the NAC (National Adoption
Center) website that states that step number one is to learn about adoption. The next step is to choose
an adoption agency. Step number three is having a home study completed. Number four is trying to
find a child, and then give your info to the child s agency. After you get info about the child you chose
then you can go meet the child. Step number eight is to get a date where you can actually receive the
child. Next you can finalize everything with the adoption. The final step is to live a happy life.
There are 2 different types of adoption. One is international, and the next is

Not until the Gulf of Tonkin Incident would a trigger to war be so scrutinized and clouded in mystery
as the destruction of the USS Maine. Over one hundred years later there is still a debate over what
caused the explosion on the Maine and ultimately led the United States to war with Spain. The debate
of the USS Maine s destruction is over whether the explosion came from inside the ship, the internal
explosion theory, or came from an outside the ship, the external explosion theory. Most of these
arguments are focused on the cause of the explosion, whether a fire broke out on board or if a
perpetrator, either the Spanish or Cuban rebels caused the explosion. This paper will mainly focus on

On top of this, there was a severe lack of dead fish in the bay area following the explosion. If an
external explosion sunk the Maine, then all the fish within 300 yards of the ship should have been

was an internal explosion (Rickover 119). Along with the lack of dead fish, there is a distinct absence
of torpedo casings or mine remnants that can usually be found after these devices have gone off.
Again, like the lack of fish, this is not concrete evidence but more circumstantial that adds a little bit

How The Film Industry Has Changed During The 1920 s
It has been said that television and the film industry have a symbiotic relationship since as early as the

Analyzing The Gymnastics Scoring System Essay
For this research paper, I will be researching the gymnastics scoring system, the controversy that the
scoring has created over time, and the general history of the sport. Gymnastics started out as just an
exercise program of different moves in Greece. The modernization of gymnastics began in the late
1700s, its been around for about 2,000 years. This is one of the oldest forms of exercise in the world.
The scores are completely different not only because the system changed, but because the level of
difficulty was also higher. In the sport of gymnastics the perfect 10 scoring system was changed the
most.
In the very beginning, when gymnastics became a competitive sport the scoring system was based on
the perfect 10 and the Code of Points. The Code of Points is the gymnastics rule book. The Olympic
games in 1976 took place in Montreal. That year the first perfect 10 was awarded. The perfect 10 was
a representation of a flawless routine.
In the 1800s gymnastics was first introduced to the United States by the military. Men s gymnastics
Olympic competition first started in 1896 in Athens, Greece. Men s gymnastics had far more
exercises, including the parallel bars, horizontal bar, pommel horse, vault, and rings.
During the 1900s women finally got to participate in the Olympics. The competition for women s
Olympic gymnastics first began in 1936 in Berlin, Germany. The exercises done were, bars, beam,
floor, and vault. The first world championship took place in 1903.

play memory and to what degree is it realistic?
When a play employs unconventional techniques, it is not trying to escape its responsibility of dealing
with reality, or interpreting experience, but is actually attempting to find a closer approach, a more

Despite being a memory play , the basis and content of The Glass Menagerie is truth and reality as
Williams attempts to find a closer approach, a more penetrating and vivid expression of things as they
are . This basis of reality is evident in the play s setting, as The Glass Menagerie is presented with
great fidelity to the social and historical realities of the time. This is demonstrated from the play s
beginning as Tom reverses time to that quaint period, the thirties , and juxtaposes the turmoil in Spain
to the uneasy peace in America, in an allusion to the forthcoming war (World War II). There are other
allusions to the war throughout the play, such as in Tom s closing speech as he claims the world is lit
by lightning . It is clear that the historical realities of the time are effectively conveyed in the play,
although it is not only the war related realities of the time that Williams highlights.
Williams presentation of the social realities of the period is clear with the bleak lower middle class life
in America, portrayed by the Wingfield family. This is most evident in the way that Laura, Amanda
and Tom each develop their own methods of

My Writing Class Analysis
Coming into college, I have had experience in writing analytical essays, research papers, and creative

past two years preparing us for college level writing because he knows that in college, writing is a big
part of one s English class. We wrote about American citizenship and what it meant to be a citizen of
the world as well as a citizen of one s community. Mr. McConahay valued structure and a good thesis
the most out of anything. This writing was very difficult for me because my mind works more
creatively than it does analytically. Academic writing has always been my weakest attribute when it

Chest To Glove Theory
Pitching mechanics are one of the most controversial and complex things in all of sports. In the
roughly 1.5 seconds that it takes for the pitcher to deliver a pitch, the pitcher uses almost every muscle
in his body in a variety of ways. That is what makes it so difficult and also why it is so important that
it is done correctly. There are many different ways of throwing a ball sixty feet six inches. Two of the
main ones are chest to glove, and gloveside disconnect. The chest to glove theory is exactly what it
sounds like, the pitcher tries to bring his chest to his glove in hopes of getting a further release point.

towards the catcher or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of these negatives is that pitchers can lose lots of trunk rotation by trying to bring chest to glove.
A quote that supports this is by focusing too much on getting your glove out and bringing your chest
forward you often tend to block yourself off (The Importance of Good Glove Arm Action). Blocking
off means that the pitcher is not fully able to get over their front foot and is unable to follow through
correctly . This causes them to lose trunk rotation which is a very important part of high velocity
pitching mechanics (How to efficiently change pitching mechanics). While this seems to contradict
that the chest to glove method gives more angular trunk velocity, the two are actually different. The
difference is that angular trunk velocity is the speed at which the trunk is moving while trunk rotation
is the amount of movement, not necessarily how fast it is going. Another negative is that chest to
glove can lead to no follow through. The less trunk rotation there is, the less a pitcher is going to be
able to follow through, which is vital to deceleration. Proper deceleration is also extremely important
to injury prevention. No follow through will often lead to throwing pitches high, which is not good.
Not following through leads to a further back release point. The further back their release point the
more likely it becomes that the ball will fly out early. These are the negatives of the chest to glove

  • 2. Movie Special Effects Special effects play a huge role in the film making and the movie industry. It has transformed throughout the years from silent films to huge explosions and animated characters. I agree that without special effects, the viewers would lose concentration and the story line would be lost. I personally enjoy movies with effects because it creates something more than just a movie. It gives you a chance to become engaged and the ability to feel as if you are with the characters and their experiences throughout the movie. Special effects would not be where they are today without the help of advanced technology such as the computer. From past films to present, you can see the transformation in the effects by the use of animated characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As time continues and evolves, movie lovers standards change as well. In order to keep up with their needs, movie producers need to contribute and exceed their boundaries as well. Each movie that is produced to the public has raised the bar more and more. I like how you added the 3D effect because this has emerged from special effects and gives the audience an experience like no other. I saw the movie Space and I have never seen a movie like it. The whole movie took place in outer space and showed the difficulties within the spaceship. The story line was intense and left you on the edge of your seat, but what really made it stand out was the use of 3D imagery. It definetly showed me a different side to movies and was left wanting to see more films like that. It is truly amazing to see the work produced by film makers and producers. It is an art that is constantly growing and improving to give the audience a movie experience they will never forget. Agreed that without special effects, movies would not be the same. Special effects have become a necessity in the movie industry and has left us wanting more. As I entered the temple I was immediately greeted by a woman and her husband. I explained my reasoning for attending the service, and they were happy to guide me through the service step by step. A we entered the Hando (main Hall) my attention was immediately drawn to what is known as the Amida Buddha. The Amida Buddha is the Buddha of wisdom and compassion. On the left of the statue sat an alter with lit candles and floral decorations along the edges. In the center of the alter sat a single scroll. Within the scroll was the Nembutsu written in Japanese. The Nembutsu or the Nemu Amida Butsu is something to be recited in the form of Buddhist incantation and recitation used as a form of meditation. On the right side of the statue was a picture of Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jodo Buddhism. I was handed a service book and a program that had both Japanese and English translations so I could ... He also applied fundamental theorems in spherical trigonometry (apparently discovered half a century earlier by Menelaus of Alexandria) to the solution of many basic astronomical problems (Jones 2017). Ptolemy justified the former lie that everything revolved around the earth. He used Aristotle s earth centered theory to defend this. In particular he introduces trigonometrical methods based on the chord function Crd (which is related to the sine function by sin a = (Crd 2a)/120). In the second article, we will present an alternative to measuring VaR using a top down or macro approach as a complementary tool to traditional risk methodologies. Should risk models be accurate? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is always better to be approximately right than exactly wrong. Determining the accuracy of VaR models How can we assess the accuracy and performance of a VaR model? To answer this question, we first need to define what we mean by accuracy. By accuracy, we could mean: How well does the model measure a particular percentile of or the entire profit and loss distribution? How well does the model predict the size and frequency of losses? Many standard backtests of VaR models compare the actual portfolio losses for a given horizon vs. the estimated VaR numbers. In its simplest form, the backtesting procedure consists of calculating the number or percentage of times that the actual portfolio returns fall outside the VaR estimate, and comparing that number to the confidence level used. For example, if the confidence level were 95%, we would expect portfolio returns to exceed the VaR numbers on about 5% of the days. Backtesting can be as much an art as a science. It is important to incorporate rigorous statistical tests with other visual and qualitative ones. Simple Backtesting: VaR ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When it comes to ethics in the international arena, Thomas Donaldson explained how that structure almost does not exist since ethical culture, practices and the social norm is different in each country. In the article, Donaldson debunked previous theories like cultural relativism and ethical imperialism while coming up with a guideline that can help companies proceed in understanding cultural difference while still being ethical. By November of that year they had constructed plans and were prepared to build this new model known as Chicago Pile 1. Nuclear Engineering U.S. Department of Energy describes the model as, ―In addition to uranium and graphite, it contained control rods made of cadmium. Cadmium is a metallic element that absorbs neutrons. When the rods were in the pile, there were fewer neutrons to fission uranium atoms. This slowed the chain reaction. When the rods were pulled out, more neutrons were available to split atoms. The chain reaction sped up‖(par 21). In December of 1942 the scientists were ready to demonstrate their hard work. This was a huge break through in the nuclear world. Most of the early research done on nuclear energy consisted of trying to make nuclear weapons. Backtracking almost over a century, we now have Ludwig van Beethoven and his magnum opus, Für Elise. In 1810, when Beethoven was 40 years of age and right now broadly known as one of the best authors ever, he made For Elise. It is still speculated as to whom this piece was made in honor out of, yet in any case it doesn t melt away on the current level of sythesis. Written in A minor for solo piano, Für Elise is named a bagatelle. These are short bits of music, commonly for the piano, and typically light and smooth in character. In prior periods, the bagatelle had likewise been composed for an assortment of instrument arrangements, yet by and large they are heard as solo piano exhibitions. In reality, the score was not distributed until 1867, 40 years after the passing of the writer. • 27. The Effect Of Gestational Age And Gender On Fetal And... A study conducted on Wistar rats at two time points in late gestation investigating the impact of gestational age and gender on fetal and placental weight. This study demonstrated that fetal and placental weight increased significantly between days 16 and 21 of gestation whereas gender showed minimal effect on growth. Introduction Fetal development during pregnancy is predominantly related to the placenta and its function in fetal maternal exchange (Ishikawa et al. 2006). Alterations in the interactions between the fetus and maternal uterine environment thus permit for the modification in fetal growth. In addition, the placenta also acts as an endocrine organ that produces hormones necessary for the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy as well as fetal growth and wellbeing (Malassine, Frendo Evain Brion 2003). Literature suggests fetal growth relies on the mobilisation of maternal nutrients, which involves placental growth hormone and that dysregulation of the hormone may have an adverse impact on fetal growth (Newbern Freemark 2011). The placenta consists of two distinct regions, which are the junctional (JZ) and labyrinth (LZ) zones that differ in morphological and functional terms (Ishikawa et al. 2006). This complexity therefore reflects the placenta as a highly specialised unit required for the exchange of gases, nutrients and waste products between mother and fetus as alluded to earlier. The interrelationship between the fetus and placenta has been made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Surrounded by unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America. A few months before all of this I was pleased with my calm life in a local city of Taiwan. I settled there at the age of two with my family, and things were going well so far. • 29. Deaf Culture Definition Culture is a term that is not easily defined, not for lack of trying. When considering Deaf culture however, it gets even more complex. One definition of Deaf culture by M.J. Bienvenu and Betty Colonomos describe it as the values, languages, traditions, group norms, identities and rules of social interaction of a group (Bienvenu, M.J. Colonomos, B. 1989). When first being taught about Deaf culture, many people assume that things such as hand waving, foot stomping or flickering lights to gain attention, or relying background information about a person when you first meet, are definitions of Deaf culture. However, those are simply examples of group norms within Deaf culture, not the culture as a whole. To reduce a culture down to only the norms of its people is greatly undervaluing it. Culture is the whole of a people, regardless of what their norms or habits are. That being said, the Deaf population is a part of a unique culture that values visual language, passed down traditions and community. Many Deaf individuals may be bi cultural and have experienced acculturation or enculturation. As an organization we are run by government oversight, rules and regulations and high powered patient complaints. If a provider is not ethically oriented they will be found out and dismissed quickly. The flip side of the coin, most people work at this medical center because they enjoy their work and the patient population. We work well with one another and come together overall for the common good. There are no incentives which can lead to ethical misconduct. Additionally, physicians have their own code of ethics. The Hippocratic Oath, is a set of principles for physicians conduct, which aim to protect the rights of the patient and oblige the physician voluntarily to behave in an altruistic manner towards patients (Riddick, 2003). The four basic principles of medical ethics (autonomy, justice, beneficence and non maleficence) form the foundation for health professionals to guide and decide what practices are ethical. • 31. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Inverter Abstract: Nowadays an Inverter is most commonly used device in almost every field. An inverter gives ac square wave output. The objective of this paper is to obtain a three phase ac voltage output of 3 phase inverter in Simulation. An inverter receives dc supply as input and generates an ac output. The dc input of 3 phase inverter is obtained by constant dc source. The inverter circuit consists of six IGBTs which are used for conversion of dc to ac supply. Simulation of 3 phase inverter is done in MATLAB software. Keywords: 3 phase inverter, constant dc source, MATLAB software, simulink, THD. Introduction: An inverter is a DC to AC converter, used to convert a dc input voltage into a symmetrical ac output voltage of desired magnitude and frequency. The waveshape of output ac voltage of inverter should be sinusoidal. However, practical inverters give output voltage that are non sinusoidal and contain harmonics. The waveshapes of output voltage are square, quasi square or distorted sinusoidal. Inverters used in low and medium power applications normally give square or quasi square wave output. However, in high power applications sinusoidal waveform is required, so inverters are carefully designed to give sinusoidal output with low distortion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are so many people adopted and that has changed their life. Don t you wonder where Steve Jobs, Jamie Foxx, and Babe Ruth would be if they weren t adopted? And I do wonder where I would be if I wasn t adopted. One reason why people choose to adopt is because they are unable to conceive kids, or because they have had miscarriages and don t want to risk losing their child again. Some might adopt stepchildren or children of family members who aren t financially stable to support their child. The adoption process can be very long. There is a 10 step process from the NAC (National Adoption Center) website that states that step number one is to learn about adoption. The next step is to choose an adoption agency. Step number three is having a home study completed. Number four is trying to find a child, and then give your info to the child s agency. After you get info about the child you chose then you can go meet the child. Step number eight is to get a date where you can actually receive the child. • 37. Analyzing The Gymnastics Scoring System Essay For this research paper, I will be researching the gymnastics scoring system, the controversy that the scoring has created over time, and the general history of the sport. Gymnastics started out as just an exercise program of different moves in Greece. The modernization of gymnastics began in the late 1700s, its been around for about 2,000 years. This is one of the oldest forms of exercise in the world. The scores are completely different not only because the system changed, but because the level of difficulty was also higher. In the sport of gymnastics the perfect 10 scoring system was changed the most. In the very beginning, when gymnastics became a competitive sport the scoring system was based on the perfect 10 and the Code of Points. The Code of Points is the gymnastics rule book. The Olympic games in 1976 took place in Montreal. That year the first perfect 10 was awarded. The perfect 10 was a representation of a flawless routine. In the 1800s gymnastics was first introduced to the United States by the military. Men s gymnastics Olympic competition first started in 1896 in Athens, Greece. Men s gymnastics had far more exercises, including the parallel bars, horizontal bar, pommel horse, vault, and rings. During the 1900s women finally got to participate in the Olympics. The competition for women s Olympic gymnastics first began in 1936 in Berlin, Germany. The exercises done were, bars, beam, floor, and vault. The first world championship took place in 1903. ... This is demonstrated from the play s beginning as Tom reverses time to that quaint period, the thirties , and juxtaposes the turmoil in Spain to the uneasy peace in America, in an allusion to the forthcoming war (World War II). There are other allusions to the war throughout the play, such as in Tom s closing speech as he claims the world is lit by lightning . It is clear that the historical realities of the time are effectively conveyed in the play, although it is not only the war related realities of the time that Williams highlights. In the roughly 1.5 seconds that it takes for the pitcher to deliver a pitch, the pitcher uses almost every muscle in his body in a variety of ways. That is what makes it so difficult and also why it is so important that it is done correctly. There are many different ways of throwing a ball sixty feet six inches. Two of the main ones are chest to glove, and gloveside disconnect. Gloveside disconnect is a little bit more tricky. With this method the pitcher either points his glove towards the catcher or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these negatives is that pitchers can lose lots of trunk rotation by trying to bring chest to glove. A quote that supports this is by focusing too much on getting your glove out and bringing your chest forward you often tend to block yourself off (The Importance of Good Glove Arm Action). Blocking off means that the pitcher is not fully able to get over their front foot and is unable to follow through correctly . This causes them to lose trunk rotation which is a very important part of high velocity pitching mechanics (How to efficiently change pitching mechanics). While this seems to contradict that the chest to glove method gives more angular trunk velocity, the two are actually different. The difference is that angular trunk velocity is the speed at which the trunk is moving while trunk rotation is the amount of movement, not necessarily how fast it is going. Another negative is that chest to glove can lead to no follow through. The less trunk rotation there is, the less a pitcher is going to be able to follow through, which is vital to deceleration. Proper deceleration is also extremely important to injury prevention. No follow through will often lead to throwing pitches high, which is not good. Not following through leads to a further back release point. The further back their release point the more likely it becomes that the ball will fly out early.
