Pay Observe Paralanguage
The process through which you establish a harmonious, understanding relationship with your
subject that consists of mutual confidence is known as rapport building. This is carried out by
working to reduce perceived differences with your subject at the unconscious level to the very
minimum.
NLP teaches you ways to instantly build credibility and trust with anyone. Through NLP you learn
how to quickly develop ways that will let you build rapport much faster who ever you
communicate with be they family, friends or other people. Ways to build a rapport cover the use of
keywords, predicates, pet words, breathing, eye blinks, head tilt, posture, rhythms and many other
things. It also helps you to be more balanced in your thinking and to understand ... Show more

Speech is a projection of thoughts and feelings going on inside a person. When a person using
NLP listens intently to the words spoken by another person and starts using the same words while
talking it becomes possible for him to enter the other person s world and view it as he sees it and
have a better understanding of how that person feels or thinks and ultimately help in building
rapport, persuading and influencing him/her more easily.
Observe paralanguage Paralanguage refers to body language or other forms of non verbal elements
of communication such as gestures, postures, facial expressions, eye movements etc. Expression of
paralanguage can be both conscious and unconscious and besides the above also includes the pitch,
rhythm and volume of the voice. Matching the tone of voice, pitch and rhythm lets you build
instant rapport.
Identify Meta programs Meta programs in NLP refer to an individual s habitual patterns that he
uses in a given situation. NLP examples of Meta programs include an individual s preference for
overview against detail, preference of where to place attention in course of a conversation,
preference for a specific outcome, preference in social styles such as indifference, assertiveness,
tolerance etc., learning preferences, convincing patterns

scenarios of platyrrhine origins in the Caribbean islands and Greater Antilles. How do the extinct
Caribbean platyrrhine species relate to extant platyrrhines? There are many dispersal theories for

Political Change Research Paper
Individuals in the American society affect Political change: Citizen communication is the prime
way in which the American society communicates its necessities and demands to the government
and foresees the government to be responsive. How do we as a society impact America s political
change? It is imperative that as one large community of 300 million, we know exactly just how we
can make a difference politically in this home we call America. The founding Fathers predetermined

Academic research has consistently found that people who consume more news media have a
greater probability of being civically and politically engaged across a variety of measures. In a
generation where everyone s time and attention is progressively focused on social media apps
such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, there are still people who seek to appraise
the relationship between public engagement and social media use. The media is a very useful
tool to get people participating in the world of politics. A lot of us find out about political
candidates, rallies, debates, and events through news channels, newspapers, social media, and
radio stations. The media has always been critiqued by some but it also gives people the chance
to be influenced by their government. Many people will login to their Facebook page and see
hundreds of political memes. According to Dictionary.com a meme is an image that is spread via
the internet and often altered in a creative or humorous way. When it comes to political memes,
people like to brew jokes about the political candidates they despise and get reactions out of others.
People are consistently sharing articles about candidate flaws such as Hillary Clinton s 30,000

Executive Summary
An effective records management program is an integral part of an organization s effective business
operations. Organizations must consider records management requirements when implementing the
system management strategies or whenever they design and augment an electronic information
system. Organizations are required by law to make and preserve records containing adequate and
proper documentation of the organization, functions, policies, decisions, procedures, and essential
transactions of the organization. This legal requirement applies to electronic records kept by the
organizations as well. Organizations that do not consistently ... Show more content on

The most important steps in all this are the definition, development, and refinement of the data
model, which mostly involves treatment of the records being created or managed (Stephens, 2007).
Information systems are developed according to system development methodologies, including
those that organizations use to implement the electronic signature as required by the statutory
bodies; which govern production and augmentation of existing records. The records life cycle
usually exceeds the system development life cycle. When it does the organization involved needs to
retain the particular record for a period of time longer than the life of the electronic information
system that generated the electronic signature. However, this presents special challenges, such as
maintaining the integrity of record in case of system migration.
Background
Characteristics of Trustworthy Organizational Records
Reliability, authenticity, integrity, and usability are the features used to describe trustworthy
records from a records management perspective. An organization needs to consider these features
when laying implementation plans for ERM programs; such that it can meet its internal business
and legal needs, as well as external regulations (Boiko, 2002). The degree of effort that an
organization puts into ensuring that these characteristics are attained depends on

Essay On Polonius In Hamlet
Facades always Collapse Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool, farewell! (III.iv.31). Polonius, a
character from the The Tragedy of Hamlet the prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare,
contributes as a small antagonist, who all throughout the play tries to undermine Hamlet. As the
advisor to the king and has two children, one, a son who goes to school in England and two, a
daughter dating the protagonist of the play. Poloniusis misleading and conniving all throughout the
play, where he tries to trick Hamletmany times, and wants him dead most of the play. As the first
character to think that Hamlet is faking is antic disposition, Polonius will try to essentially find the

The advisor to the King, Polonius, exists as a very fake and superficial man. He always talks
about unimportant things, but transpires as a clever man. One point in the play where Hamlet
and Polonius are talking, Hamlet puts on a huge antic disposition, making Polonius not positive
that Hamlet assures insanity, so he whispers to himself Though this be madness, yet there be
method in t. (II.ii.223 224). He discusses how Hamlet tells Polonius how old he truly looks.
Polonius takes much offence to this, but realizes that Hamlet isn t entirely crazy, he kind of
thinks he puts on a show for those around him. Being harsh, lying, invertebrates, Polonius and
the King decide to hide away many times during the play to spy on Hamlet. Once again, they
were almost seen by Hamlet right before he was questioning life. Polonius talks to the king
saying with devotion s visage/ And Pious action we do sugar o er/ The devil himself (III.i.53 55)
which discusses getting Ophelia a Bible to look innocent while they listen to hear if Hamlet has
truly been affected by hysteria or if he wears a facade. Polonius, will try to essentially find the
gossip in everything and put it out of proportion so only he will benefit and be more noticed by

Literature Review On Psychotropic Drugs
Psychotropic Drugs: Is Prozac Being Overprescribed? As the world becomes more
knowledgeable about mental health, psychotropic drugs have become popular in the treatment
of major depression. For example, primary care physicians prescribe psychotropic drugs to
patients who seek help for and complain about their mental issues. According to Smith (2012),
Writing a prescription to treat a mental health disorder is easy, but it may not always be the
safest or most effective route for patients (p.36). Prozac, a popular psychotropic drug, has been
known to cause many uncomfortable side effects while treating major depression. Psychotropic
drugs, while still practical, are not the only treatment for dealing with major depression, and there
will be patients that respond positively towards the drugs while other patients require treatment
such as cognitive behavioral therapy. While the physicians try to cure their patients of the
symptoms of depression with Prozac, major depression often requires additional therapy
alongside the prescribed pills. This literature review considers whether the increased use of
Prozac is appropriate for treating major depression by responding to the following questions:
1.What are the implications of major depression? 2.Is Prozac effective at treating major
depression? 3.Is Prozac safe? 4.Is Prozac the best solution? Because written prescriptions have
become easily accessible, patients often are not aware of less risky treatments that could be more

Inspector Calls Themes
In the play An Inspector Calls , Priestley included 2 main themes: the general contrast and
responsibility. The first theme: general contrast was perhaps the most applied throughout the play,
such as in: the young age vs. the old age, the upper class vs. the lower class, the reality vs. the
predictions of the characters, in addition to socialism vs. capitalism. The young characters: Sheila
and Eric sympathized passionately with Eva unlike the elders: Gerald, Mr. and Ms. Birling. At an
unpredictable move, the young ones turned out to be matured enough to realize their guilt, to the
extent of them arguing and shouting at their own narrow minded parents. The elders their parents
in specific, believed that their social status deflected them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The second contrast lies between the upper and lower class. Priestley differentiated Eva Smith
from Daisy Renton; for each symbolizes a different social status Eva represented the struggling
workers while Daisy represented the pregnant prostitutes. Synecdoche was used in Edna, the
maid and Eva Smith to signify the working class, and the lowest class using Daisy Renton and
her unborn baby John. Mrs. Birling kept lowering the importance of girls in lower classes by
saying Girls from that class to indicate that she remained entirely untouched by Eva s death, to
extent of her ignoring and underestimating how desperate she was for love, money and
assistance. The other contrast content was rather ironic; it s regarding Mr. Birling s judgments.
Priestly used allusion to refer to the World War 2 and to the Titanic s famous sinking; in which he
denied that both would happen; I m talking as a hard headed man of practical man of business ...I
say there isn t a chance of war referring to World War 2 that actually happened and regarding the
Titanic unsinkable, absolutely unsinkable that also sank. This emphasizes what a narrow minded,
pompous snub Mr. Birling was. The final contrast could be presented between socialism and
capitalism. Mr. Birling

The History Of Croatia
Southeastern Europe has been a conflict ridden corner of the world since as early as 400 A.D.
From the split of the Roman empire to the rule by the Ottoman empire to the World Wars and most
recently, the breakdown of Yugoslavia, this region has not had a boring moment in history. Such a
long history of conflict has impacted the people of this region in ways that still matter today, such
as ethnic identity and religion. While this extended, complicated history has given Croatiadepth, it
is not all the country has going for it. Yugoslavia broke into 7 new states, leaving each with the
challenge to develop and strengthen themselves. Some, like Kosovo, have struggled to do so.
Croatia, however, has managed to become an economically strong,... Show more content on

Croatia s Gender Development Index is a high 0.997 meaning it is fairly gender equal. Gender
inequality is more likely to be seen in rural areas, where agriculture and farming prevail, than urban
areas in the professional part of society.
B. History As the split between the Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire grew, Croatia found itself
right in between the two. The Pope baptized the nation and legalized church services, aligning it
with the Roman Empire. This connection with the west has continued throughout Croatian history.
In 1527, Arch Duke Ferdinand Hapsburg was elected King of Croatia. With this decision, Croatia
became part of the Hapsburg monarchy. Over the next centuries, the relationship between Croatia
and the Hapsburg monarchy varied from fierce conflicts to allied defense efforts. Throughout the
Hapsburg Monarchy, Croatia remained a separate kingdom within the kingdom. When the
Hapsburg Monarchy proposed Hungarian as the official Croatian language, the refused, saying one
kingdom does not prescribe the laws for the other. This attitude of independence was and continued
to be a strong factor amongst the people. Although Croatia was within other states or empires for
over 900 years, their position was always voluntarily decided upon by Croatian leaders. Throughout
this time, the leaders maintained their right to statehood; even though Croatia was not a state, the
right was highly valued. The persistent belief that they could

Poetry Close Reading
The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner written by Randall Jarrell is a poem that introduces three
major ideas in only five lines. These ideas are birth, death, and war. Jarrell is able to accomplish a
lot in this short poem by using diction and syntax such as metaphor and figurative language. The
title of the poem automatically shifts the reader s mind to expect a poem about war and death.
However, after reading the title and seeing how clear it is, when taken literally, line one of the
poem is very confusing. If we try to understand the poem at a basic literal level, here s what s
happening: There is a gunner in the ball turret, underneath a bomber plane. It is so cold up high
that the lining of his wet jacket is being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker s life before war is left far below and even feels like an illusion. Like a dream, it is
gone. When the speaker woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters , he woke up to his worst
nightmare, enemy fighters approaching the bomber. If we take a close look at lines three and
four together, there is a stark contrast. Line three is very peaceful and serene, the words dream ,
life , and earth usually have positive connotations; while line four is certain death, with words
like nightmare and black flak . The last line of the poem is very straightforward, and is almost
prose. It tells us exactly what we need to know. When the bomber got back to the base, they
cleaned the speakers remains out of the turret with a hose. If we continue the metaphor of the
bomber being the mother, we can conclude that the speaker is being born into death through the
womb of the State . The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner by Randall Jarrell is able to accomplish
so many thing with so little lines mainly through the use of metaphor and diction. It explains the
terrors of wars in gruesome detail and explains the ways in which wars, in a sense breed and birth
death. To some, this poem is seen as the ultimate poem of war, and rightly

Absolute Music
The slow 12 bar introduction starts with an unusual opening of what seems like the wrong tonality
as dominant chords resolve upwards in the first 4 bars. The harmonic progression is very atypical,
constantly modulating around the tonic C major by playing chords in the dominant G major,
dominant seventh, subdominant F major and relative minor A. This sustains a dominant tension
throughout this section.
The first symphony is a prominent example of absolute music, which is music written for the beauty
of the sounds alone. Absolute music is intended to be appreciated without any particular reference
to the outside world. The term is almost exclusively applied to works in the European classical
music tradition, particularly those from the Romantic

may be a little hard to believe, in most cases there is strong information to support these claims.
There are different aspects of the Clinton s lives that conspiracy theorists like to target. Some

Alain De Botton
In his TED talk, A kinder, gentler philosophy of success , Alain de Botton focuses on the
different ways that society views and accepts successes and failures. One model that de Botton
discusses is one where an individual takes their successes and failures to be upon themselves. He
mentions that individuals who take responsibility for their failures, as much as they do their
successes, are more likely to have low self esteem and career anxiety. With this lack of confidence
and added stress, de Botton concludes that it is difficult to find one s kinder, gentler . . . success
because an individual will fear the judgment that will surround their mistakes and the resulting
negative effect on their reputation which are all due to the mistakes that stem from their own
fault. With his argument, de Botton persuades his audience to veer away from believing that one
s mistakes are entirely of their own doing, and he introduces another way of thinking in lieu of it
de Botton states that with an individual s idea of success, one should be aware of their limits and
admit what it s [success] is losing out on. He vies for this kinder, gentler philosophy of success so

The Weakening Of The Catholic Church
The weakening of the Church was a big thing in their time. The Catholic Church was the only
Church that has ever went down. There were two main factors that lead to the Church s

corruption started to get really bad during the 1300s. The Church was so corrupted the priests

African American Music And Its Impact On African Americans
Music in the 1900 s had meaning , music was how African Americans got through a long
working day . Music then was something that no man could take away . That still applies to the
21st century music , back onto the 1900 s African Americans were not given the same privileges
as they are today . Music was the less threatening way for African Americans to get there point
across . The music was not always about them wanting equality , there was loving songs , upbeat
songs , songs about what they are doing . There were always those songs that would get a person
in there feelings . The music that tells a person life story on what all they may have been through .
Most the listeners were African Americanwhich is good , then there may have been some white but
not many . African American music to some was not as important to them as to others . The
African American music has evolved from the 1900 s to now , also the amount of people that
listen to African American music has also evolved . At a farm in Mississippi is an example of
how African Americans used music to get through a hard working day . Music while working
usually help the time go by faster . The music in which was sung in the fields or in the cabins for

How Wireless Communication Has Improved The Point Of Being...
Wireless communication is the transfer of data between two or more points that are not connected
by an electrical conductor. In addition, wireless communications networks are less expensive to
install and preserve than equivalent wired systems. Wireless communication has become possible
due to the discovery of radio waves. With the first breakthrough of the radio signal within the 19th
century, along with founders Nikola Tesla and Guglielmo Marconi, evolution of the wireless
technology has improved to the point of being unrecognizable (Makkai ,2006, p.1). According to
Rappaport (2002 ,p.1) , with the Guglielmo Marconi s invention of the long distance
communication with ships at sea, has the power of instant communication emerged. Nowadays,
many people use the internet service on a cellphone to keep the contact with people around the
world, and for other purposes such as: researching, learning and exploring (Makkai ,2006, p.1).
In this essay, the following definitions will be used. Communication in this essay refers to a
technology that allows sending and receiving data such as: SMS, voice and images (Lee,
Schneider and Schell,2004, p.15). A mobile app is a software application developed specifically for
use on small, wireless computing devices, such as smartphones and tablets, rather than desktop or
laptop computers. Ram (Random Access Memory) arranges communication through messages to a
customer while they are in the city territory (Rappaport, 2002, p.508).

To what extent is nature the more monumental factor in human development?
When a newborn opens his eyes for the first time, what does he know? Is he pre programmed to
grow up and become a professional soccer player or is he a blank slate yet to be filled in by
experience? Nature vs. nurture is an age old debate that has remained unresolved throughout
modern history. Specifically, it is a psychological term used to explain whether who we are is
predetermined by genes and hereditary factors or by our surrounding environment and personal
experiences. Science has proven that physical characteristics and health issues can usually be
determined by genetic inheritance, so does that mean that nature is more important at driving the

our experiences and our environment, which means that we can change our first impressions... by

entire life is dictated by what is prewired into us at the stage of meiosis. Furthermore, while I
recognize the importance of nature, I believe that nurture is more significant in human
development due my personal experiences. For instance, despite coming from a loud, boisterous
family, I have always surrounded myself with friends who are quiet and timid. This has influenced
me into becoming an introvert myself. Similarly, as a child, unlike my brother, I never had any
natural talent in soccer; in fact, I might have been the worst player on my team. However, with
hard work and determination, I began to excel at the sport, thus proving that even genes can t defy
the power of practice. In the end, though genes may play some part in our personalities and talents,

Oppression By Marilyn Frye Summary
In Oppression, Marilyn Frye uses a birdcage as a metaphor to describe the invisible and visible
effects that oppression can have on society (151). Frye further argues how an observer failing to
see why the cage is a prison to the bird is like someone failing to treat oppression as a whole (151).
The author s creative approach spurred me to think of other birdcages presently in our society.
Specifically, I wonder how the people within the bird cages I present become invisible in the cage.
For instance, prisons and psychiatric hospitals are a representation of a bird cage. In the United
States, currently, millions of African American youth who committed petty crimes are placed with
hard core criminals. Consider, Kalief Browder,

Wedding Speech Written for Two Best Men
Brandon Ladies and Gents before I continue I would like to point out to those of you who may be
feeling the effects of the alcohol that there are actually 2 of us standing up here and no you are not
seeing double.
Firstly, I would like to say how pleasing it is to see so many of John and Rhonda s close relatives
and friends who have joined them on their wedding day. It never fails to amaze me the distance
some people will travel for some free food.
OK, Ladies and Gents it is an absolute privilege for Kain and me to be standing here as John s

Seriously though John, you are a lucky groom; you ve got Rhonda. She s beautiful, smart, funny,

The Air Force does not have the proper number of funds for the Air Force to maintain its active
aircraft. As I stated previously. Many of the active aircraft are old and no longer in production.
Many of the old aircraft need a lot of maintenance. Thus rely on many of the retired air craft for
broken parts. Congress needs to be able to loosen their wallet and propose more money into the
military. The military in general needs the funds to be able to invest in new reliable and more
cost efficient air craft. Instead of relying on our old aircraft. Col. Gentry Boswell, commander of
the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth stated that, the B 1 has evolved into a close air support
bomber. Flying for 10 12 hours at a time high above the battlefield, B 1 s can carry 50,000
pounds of weapons, mostly satellite guided bombs, but only half of these supersonic bombers
can actually fly right now. Being able to maintain and keep are aircraft in the air are vital. Many
soldiers when deploy depend on these iron birds to provide support in very rigorous situations
when air support is needed, surveillance, and just a sense a relief that American troops know they

A Race United Essay
When the first Irish immigrants landed on the eastern shores of America in the 18th century, they
were met by intolerance from the Native whites who saw them as a threat to the American way of
life. The Dangers of Foreign Immigration, an article written by Samuel Morse in 1835, exposits
much of the anti immigrant sentiment prevalent in the 19th century. To the natives, the Irish were
simply niggers turned inside out (Anonymous Satirism), who came to America as refugees from
Ireland to deprive them of their wealth and prosperity. Thus, the immigrants of Erin were forced to
join the ranks of the slave, the German, and the free Negro laborer at the very bottom of the
American diaspora. But instead of accepting the hand which they were... Show more content on

In addition to Irish progress politically, the sons and daughters of Erin also received help from each
other. Written in 1835, The Dangers of Foreign Immigrationwas not targeted at the earliest wave of
Irish immigrants who arrived in the late 18th century. Unlike later generations, these early Irish
Americans were not necessarily Catholic, and didn t always speak English, but rather Gaelic. By
the time the second wave of Irish immigrants arrived in the mid 19th century, yet more differences
existed between these two waves. Those immigrants who had arrived earlier were by now relatively
more wealthy and established than their more recent counterparts. But through their common
threads Irish men and women, the established communities provided financial and political aid to
their newly arriving brethren. The Shamrock Friendly Association, an Irish aid group comprised of
prosperous Irish American citizens, published an informational pamphlet in 1816 entitled Hints to
Emigrants from Europe. In it, they tell Irish immigrants that they may derive benefit from the
counsel and guidance of friends, and that if one has gone the road [they] are about to travel, by only
showing [them] how it winds beyond the next hill, (Shamrock Friendly Association 4) they would
be better able to navigate their path in America successfully. In addition to encouragement, the

Foreshadowing In The Demon Lover
Many people read for some sort emotion the words invoke. Whether it is joy, sadness, fear, or
anticipation, readers love being able to feel the emotions the characters feel without actually going
through the same experiences. This is especially true for horror and suspense stories. Elizabeth
Bowen s short story The Demon Lover is able to invoke a lot of emotionthrough different literary
elements, which is why it is so popular. Elements such as point of view, suspense, and
foreshadowing really put the readers on the edge of their seats.
The point of view of The Demon Lover plays a very important role in the emotional rollercoaster
the reader takes with Mrs. Drover. The third person omniscient point of view is where the narrator
describes both the actions and feelings of one character. In this case the character is Mrs. Dover.
The story states,
The staircase window having been boarded up, no light came down into the hall. But one door, she
could just see, stood ajar, so se went quickly through in to the room and unshuttered the big window
in there. (Bowen 143)

To What Extent Does Multi-Level Government Increase...
To what extent does multi level government increase democracy and bring government closer to the
people?
The United Kingdom consists of four countries; England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. As
the UK is a unitary state, the main power is centralised at Westminster. However, since 1997,
power has been devolved to five different areas; the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly, the
Northern Ireland Assembly, the Greater London Assembly and elected mayors in a number of
cities, such as London. There are also several levels of local government, such as county and district
councils and unitary authorities.
Devolution is the transfer of power from Westminster to regional bodies, such as the Scottish
Parliament and the Welsh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This therefore brings power closer to the Scottish people, through the Scottish Parliament, but in
hand it takes power away from the English people. This may be because there is no purely English
devolved body in comparison to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly and Northern Ireland
Assembly. Power is also brought closer to the people as devolved bodies can hold referendums;
however, on the other hand, they are limited on what they can hold referendums about.
On the other hand, devolution had failed to resolve the problem of voter apathy, for example, barely
1 in 4 of the electorate voted in favour of the Welsh Assembly. The use of PR in the devolved
assemblies has weakened the link between elected representatives and their constituents. The
Conservatives argue that devolution has undermined the unity of the UK, and some argue that the
Barnett formula is too generous towards the Scottish. Also, most importantly, it is argued that
devolution raised the problematic West Lothian question.
Devolution has not brought power closer to the people in that regional councils only have limited
power and are tokenistic . The Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly are merely symbols of
national identity, for example. Also, councils have fixed

Improving Airport Security
How can airport security be more advance and safe around the world? Airport security attempts to
prevent any threats or potentially dangerous situations from arising or entering the country. If
airport security does succeed in this, then the chances of any dangerous situations, illegal items or
threats entering into aircraft, country or airport are greatly reduced. As such, airport securityserves
several purposes: To protect the airport and country from any threatening events, to reassure the
traveling public that they are safe and to protect the country and their people. There are many ways
to improve airport security, but it will take a lot to do so. One way is hiring and training TSA

Beginning in December 1972, the Federal Aviation Administration required airlines to scan all
passengers with metal detectors in an attempt to stop hijackers from carrying concealed guns
and other weapons onto flights. Aside from x ray screenings of baggage and metal detector
screening of passengers, TSA officers are empowered to perform pat down screenings and
baggage searches for any passenger that they feel requires additional screening. If the owners
bag is locked TSA can cut or break the lock if the owner is unwilling to open it can open it. In
addition to TSA screening measures, airlines are still responsible for checking passenger
information against government issued watch lists intended to flag potentially dangerous
travelers. Just fifteen years ago on September 11, 2001 four U.S. planes were hijacked. Two of
the hijacked planes crashed in the world trade center, while another one crashed in a field in
Pennsylvania, and the other one crashed into the Pentagon. Airport security is a really big
problem in the world. Almost three thousand people were killed on that day. That was one of the
saddest days in America, but it also made the country stronger and realizes that airport security is
a major thing that needs to be addressed. Hijacking started in about 1933 and is still going on to

The Craft Essay
The Craft (1996), directed by Andrew Fleming, is a film that depicts Sarah Bailey s journey of
friendship, witchcraft and self actualization. As the newcomer in town at a quintessential school,
she is quickly out casted; however, eventually finds solace in the Eastwick Bitches: Nancy, Bonnie
and Rochelle. The quartet bands together to strengthen their witchcraft, but soon find themselves
overwhelmed by the ramifications of their powers. In the article New Religious Movements, by

For example, how some of the characters, specifically Bonnie, use their supernatural abilities clearly
render down women to a stereotypical archetype that is solely appearance and boy obsessed. Or as
the text references as the notion of the beautiful witch [being] best understood within the context of
misogynistic discourse. As the girls progress from natural magic, us[ing] things like herbs, crystals
and candles to high magic, the transformation of the self through contact with the Divine, or
specifically in the film the deity Manon, the more they perpetuate materialistic characteristics.
Bonnie, the initially timid and kind hearted character, becomes confident and powerful once she
eradicates the burn scars that once covered her body. This stark transformation is extremely
detrimental to the progression of feminism because it perpetuates the idea that topical beauty is the
only key to attention, power and high levels of confidence for a woman. This depiction of beauty
standards reinforces the notion that traditionally unattractive women have no voice and that
attractive women are the winners of society those that curate male attention and power and exude
confidence. Therefore, The Craft (1996), exemplifies the perpetuation of falsified beauty standards
for women via its consequential use of natural and high

Dogville Mise En Scene Analysis
Mise en scГЁne and multiple interpretations in relation to a film Dogville by Lars von Trier
In my essay, I am going to consider the possible interpretations of the Mise en scene details in
relation to a film Dogville (2003) by Lars von Trier. I will be exploring how the same details can
be interpreted in different ways, depending on the viewer s background, attitude, perspective, and
so on.
Dogville is the city drawn in chalk; the city with a 3 hour psychedelia; the city that reflects the
ugliness of human nature.
The surface is often deceptive. The whole town is a convention. The furniture could be pink, there
could be cacti in the Elm Street, and the town could be located not in the mountains but on a sunny
beach. Von Trier has never treated the scenery with respect. He needs it just as an addition to
something more important. This approach is perfectly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And in the final scene, when the moon rises over the city, Grace accepts the rules of the game The
moon has always been a symbol of deception, illusion, melancholy wrong light, which is only a
pale reflection of the hot sun.
However, once you begin to interpret the meaning of Dogville, you will get into the realm of
uncertainty. Von Trier has made everything to make the viewers feel different while watching his
movie with its artificial decorations, British accent of the voiceover and formalism in acting and
dialogues.
On the one hand, Dogville is nothing but an attempt to show a realistic American image.
Presenting Dogville in Cannes, von Trier said, this is America, but seen from my point of view
and that it is not a historical or scientific, but emotional movie. Here are the most important words
of the director: In my American films, I reflect the information that comes to me, and my feelings
about it. Of course, this is not the whole truth, as I have not been there. I am an American, so I

On July 20, 1969 lunar manned landing was made by NASA. Neil Armstrong was the first man to
step on the moon. I am not saying that this was true based on the information provided by books

Humanistic Approach To Psychotherapy
During my earlier years as undergraduate, I recall being very interested in the humanistic approach
to psychotherapy, simply because it was congenial to the person I was at that time. I was deeply
interested in the concepts of free will, self concept, self actualization, and most importantly,
conditions of worth. In addition, when I considered the type of therapist I would have been the
most willing to do therapeutic work with, I tended to think of a therapist with a humanistic

Typical and Atypical Abuse Essay
Typical and Atypical Abuse
Physical and emotional abuse can originate from any source but the majority of the abuse
generates from parental or adult figures and is direct toward a timid figure, typically a child. The

if they answer a question incorrectly they will be negatively punished in some manor (NAEYC,
1997). Students show an inability to cope with the stress levels that are associated with school
and are therefore more likely to give up. In fact, maltreated children do not differ on perceived
academic ability but their scores on actual tests are significantly lower (Kinard, 2001). One
major area that is extremely important to the growth of children is how they interact with other
children while at school. Abuse in the home will negatively effect social growth because it
influences how comfortable a child feels around other people. The fear of punishment, physical
or verbal, determines how a child approaches an other child. Every student in school will most
likely be unable to perfect each subject, but a student that is abused is unable to grasp this
concept. They feel the need to perfect each subject and when they do not they feel like a failure.
Failure is most likely not an option because, to the majority of the abused, failure equals some kind

The records life cycle usually exceeds the system development life cycle. As the world becomes more knowledgeable about mental health, psychotropic drugs have become popular in the treatment of major depression. For example, primary care physicians prescribe psychotropic drugs to patients who seek help for and complain about their mental issues. According to Smith (2012), Writing a prescription to treat a mental health disorder is easy, but it may not always be the safest or most effective route for patients (p.36). Prozac, a popular psychotropic drug, has been known to cause many uncomfortable side effects while treating major depression. Psychotropic drugs, while still practical, are not the only treatment for dealing with major depression, and there will be patients that respond positively towards the drugs while other patients require treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy. While the physicians try to cure their patients of the symptoms of depression with Prozac, major depression often requires additional therapy alongside the prescribed pills. This literature review considers whether the increased use of Prozac is appropriate for treating major depression by responding to the following questions: 1.What are the implications of major depression? 2.Is Prozac effective at treating major depression? 3.Is Prozac safe? 4.Is Prozac the best solution? The first theme: general contrast was perhaps the most applied throughout the play, such as in: the young age vs. the old age, the upper class vs. the lower class, the reality vs. the predictions of the characters, in addition to socialism vs. capitalism. The young characters: Sheila and Eric sympathized passionately with Eva unlike the elders: Gerald, Mr. and Ms. Birling. Mrs. Birling kept lowering the importance of girls in lower classes by saying Girls from that class to indicate that she remained entirely untouched by Eva s death, to extent of her ignoring and underestimating how desperate she was for love, money and assistance. The other contrast content was rather ironic; it s regarding Mr. Birling s judgments. Many of the old aircraft need a lot of maintenance. Thus rely on many of the retired air craft for broken parts. Congress needs to be able to loosen their wallet and propose more money into the military. The military in general needs the funds to be able to invest in new reliable and more cost efficient air craft. Instead of relying on our old aircraft. Col. • 28. A Race United Essay When the first Irish immigrants landed on the eastern shores of America in the 18th century, they were met by intolerance from the Native whites who saw them as a threat to the American way of life. The Dangers of Foreign Immigration, an article written by Samuel Morse in 1835, exposits much of the anti immigrant sentiment prevalent in the 19th century. To the natives, the Irish were simply niggers turned inside out (Anonymous Satirism), who came to America as refugees from Ireland to deprive them of their wealth and prosperity. Thus, the immigrants of Erin were forced to join the ranks of the slave, the German, and the free Negro laborer at the very bottom of the American diaspora. In addition to Irish progress politically, the sons and daughters of Erin also received help from each other. Written in 1835, The Dangers of Foreign Immigrationwas not targeted at the earliest wave of Irish immigrants who arrived in the late 18th century. Unlike later generations, these early Irish Americans were not necessarily Catholic, and didn t always speak English, but rather Gaelic. By the time the second wave of Irish immigrants arrived in the mid 19th century, yet more differences existed between these two waves. Those immigrants who had arrived earlier were by now relatively more wealthy and established than their more recent counterparts. But through their common threads Irish men and women, the established communities provided financial and political aid to their newly arriving brethren. The Shamrock Friendly Association, an Irish aid group comprised of prosperous Irish American citizens, published an informational pamphlet in 1816 entitled Hints to Emigrants from Europe. In it, they tell Irish immigrants that they may derive benefit from the counsel and guidance of friends, and that if one has gone the road [they] are about to travel, by only showing [them] how it winds beyond the next hill, (Shamrock Friendly Association 4) they would be better able to navigate their path in America successfully. • 31. Foreshadowing In The Demon Lover Many people read for some sort emotion the words invoke. Whether it is joy, sadness, fear, or anticipation, readers love being able to feel the emotions the characters feel without actually going through the same experiences. This is especially true for horror and suspense stories. Elizabeth Bowen s short story The Demon Lover is able to invoke a lot of emotionthrough different literary elements, which is why it is so popular. Elements such as point of view, suspense, and foreshadowing really put the readers on the edge of their seats. The point of view of The Demon Lover plays a very important role in the emotional rollercoaster the reader takes with Mrs. Drover. The third person omniscient point of view is where the narrator describes both the actions and feelings of one character. In this case the character is Mrs. Dover. The story states, The staircase window having been boarded up, no light came down into the hall. But one door, she could just see, stood ajar, so se went quickly through in to the room and unshuttered the big window in there. The United Kingdom consists of four countries; England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. As the UK is a unitary state, the main power is centralised at Westminster. However, since 1997, power has been devolved to five different areas; the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly, the Northern Ireland Assembly, the Greater London Assembly and elected mayors in a number of cities, such as London. There are also several levels of local government, such as county and district councils and unitary authorities. This therefore brings power closer to the Scottish people, through the Scottish Parliament, but in hand it takes power away from the English people. This may be because there is no purely English devolved body in comparison to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly and Northern Ireland Assembly. Power is also brought closer to the people as devolved bodies can hold referendums; however, on the other hand, they are limited on what they can hold referendums about. On the other hand, devolution had failed to resolve the problem of voter apathy, for example, barely 1 in 4 of the electorate voted in favour of the Welsh Assembly. The use of PR in the devolved assemblies has weakened the link between elected representatives and their constituents. The Conservatives argue that devolution has undermined the unity of the UK, and some argue that the Barnett formula is too generous towards the Scottish. Also, most importantly, it is argued that devolution raised the problematic West Lothian question. Devolution has not brought power closer to the people in that regional councils only have limited power and are tokenistic . The Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly are merely symbols of national identity, for example. Also, councils have fixed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bonnie, the initially timid and kind hearted character, becomes confident and powerful once she eradicates the burn scars that once covered her body. This stark transformation is extremely detrimental to the progression of feminism because it perpetuates the idea that topical beauty is the only key to attention, power and high levels of confidence for a woman. This depiction of beauty standards reinforces the notion that traditionally unattractive women have no voice and that attractive women are the winners of society those that curate male attention and power and exude confidence. I will be exploring how the same details can be interpreted in different ways, depending on the viewer s background, attitude, perspective, and so on. Dogville is the city drawn in chalk; the city with a 3 hour psychedelia; the city that reflects the ugliness of human nature. The surface is often deceptive. The whole town is a convention. Von Trier has made everything to make the viewers feel different while watching his movie with its artificial decorations, British accent of the voiceover and formalism in acting and dialogues. Physical abuse is maltreatment that involves actual contact between one body part of a person and an other body part of an other person, such as hitting or slapping. A student that is being abused at home is more likely to be withdrawn in the classroom and have a lower self esteem level because they feel that if they answer a question incorrectly they will be negatively punished in some manor (NAEYC, 1997). Students show an inability to cope with the stress levels that are associated with school and are therefore more likely to give up. In fact, maltreated children do not differ on perceived academic ability but their scores on actual tests are significantly lower (Kinard, 2001). One major area that is extremely important to the growth of children is how they interact with other children while at school.
