seeks to make investments in SMEs across the agricultural value chain that
have funding needs between $2 million and $8 million.
Valued at US $100,000, the Africa Food Prize recognises African farmers
who are making strides to advance the continent’s agricultural sector, this
includes reducing poverty and hunger and/or improving food and nutrition
security.
The main aim of this fund is to promote the entry and participation of
black people in the entire agricultural value chain through the provision of
funding for equity deals, acquisition of interests in agricultural entities and
enterprise development (SMEs).

FarmSol is a black-owned agricultural services company focusing on
incubating emerging farmers (Agri-SMMEs) as well as providing access to
funding.
This is an annual competition to identify innovative entrepreneurial ventures
in the agrifood sector, it aims to inspire young people across the African
continent. They offer two cash prizes each valued at US $50,000.
The Black Industrialists Scheme is an initiative by the Department of
Trade, Industry and Competition to get more black people involved in the
productive sectors of the economy like transport, green industries, agro-
processing, biofuels and chemicals. The programme funds viable and
sustainable projects in need of funding or are looking to expand.

IWF aims to assist women-owned businesses based in rural or peri-urban
areas that require capital. The fund specialises in debt financing with a

This fund is an Old Mutual non-profit company (NPC) initiative. They
provide development funding and business support to SMEs in high-
performing sectors including agribusiness.
Microsoft’s initiative targets agritech companies with the aim to increase
black smallholder farmers’ competitiveness and improve their efficiencies by
leveraging emergent and established technology.
