1. The Sea Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of the sea may initially seem like a captivating and straightforward
task, given the vastness and richness of the subject matter. However, delving into the intricacies
of the sea's multifaceted nature can prove to be a challenging endeavor. The sea is not merely a
physical entity; it embodies a myriad of elements, from its ecological importance and marine life
diversity to its cultural significance and impact on human civilization.
One of the challenges lies in striking a balance between scientific precision and poetic
expression. Capturing the scientific intricacies of oceanography while weaving in the emotional
and cultural dimensions requires a delicate dance of words. The sea is a dynamic and ever-
changing force, and translating its essence into a coherent narrative demands a deep
understanding of various disciplines.
Moreover, the vastness of the topic can be overwhelming. From exploring the geological
processes shaping the ocean floor to contemplating the role of the sea in global trade and
commerce, the essay must navigate a sea of information to craft a cohesive narrative. Selecting
the most pertinent aspects and maintaining a focused approach without succumbing to the
temptation of tangential details requires careful consideration.
Another challenge stems from the need to evoke a sensory experience for the reader. Describing
the sea involves more than just providing factual information; it necessitates the ability to paint
vivid images with words, allowing readers to hear the rhythmic crashing of waves, feel the salty
breeze, and envision the vast expanse stretching to the horizon.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the sea is a complex undertaking that demands a harmonious
blend of scientific knowledge, cultural insight, and literary skill. Navigating the depths of this
topic requires a writer to be both a scholar and a storyteller, weaving together facts and emotions
to create a compelling narrative.

2. Life Of The 70s By Bobbie Ann Mason s Shiloh
Marriage is a difficult thing to maintain now a days, and it was not much different
back in the 80s. Bobbie Ann Mason s Shiloh tells the story of how, the main
character, Leroy slowly realizes that him and his wife, Norma Jean, are drifting
apart. The 80s was a time period of expanding poverty, rising social problems, and
drastic economic changes. Leroy decided to stay fixated on the past, while Norma
Jean accepted the fact that the world is changing and prepared herself for it. Things
change over time, and the couple disagreed on a way to enter the new world together.
Leroy spent fifteen years of his life as a truck driver. It was up until he got into a
bad accident and a steel pin was inserted into his leg that prevented him from doing
his passion. During this time, Leroy was never home for too long, always in
different settings because his job demanded it. Now, being incapacitated, Leroy is
home for long periods of time with his wife, Norma Jean.
Leroy and Norma Jean married each other at the age of 18 and shortly before they
graduated high school together. A few months later, the two had a child and named
him Randy. The child died only four months after his birth of sudden infant death
syndrome (SIDS). Leroy, being on the road so much, did not think that the death of
their child affected Norma Jean much, but in all actuality it did. Leroy did not start to
notice this until after being immobilized by his accident and having to be around his
wife more often.

3. The French Revolution As A Social Revolution
While the French Revolution surely marked a time known for a great deal of
bloodshed alongside an substantial shift in political and social attitudes, behavior,
and policy, the origins of this pivotal event are highly contested even in modern
historical contexts. This time period ranging from the years 1789 to 1799 had a
number of social, political, and economic causes, but many historians of this era seek
to answer whether the French revolutionwas primarily a social revolutionwith
political consequences or that of a political revolution with social consequences.
According to Harvard educated political scientist, Dr. Theda Skocpol, Social
revolutions are rapid, basic transformations of a society s state and class structures,
and they are accompanied and in part carried through by class based revolts from
below. In consequence, the following thesis is one such answer to this long held
debate using this definition as a base reference. The social unrest created by
remnants still remaining from the feudal system, compounded with economic
pressures caused by a political system unable to properly respond to crisis, resulted
in a fervent spirit of revolt that pervaded through the whole of the third state only to
turn to more political issues upon the realizations of class diversity within the Third
Estate itself.

4. Jerome Robbins Research Paper
Jerome Robbins s incredible dance history and background is what has left him
ranked so highly in the musical theater industry today. From working to dazzle his
audiences, Robbins can be held responsible for the industry s serge in popularity
over a short amount of time. It can be said by many that Robbins took a fresh
approach to choreography to introduce to the world with a more energetic and
dynamic performance to display. Robbins creative work elevated the role of dance in
musical theatre, which was claimed to be the industry s Golden Era .
Born into a Jewish family with many theatrical contacts and influences in 1918,
Robbins was forced to keep his passion for dance a secret from his mother and
father for many years. After revealing this secret at a summer camp while dancing on
a table tennis table Robbins soon began to take modern ... Show more content on

the 1920 s Robbins worked in Vaudeville and on Broadway where he was
recognized for being a tremendously expressive dancer and able to manipulate every
gesture for dramatic effect which can be seen in West Side Story. Continuing on,
Robbins dance techniques developed and he had a routine of with starting with a
story from which his dancers could develop their characters, and therefore their
movements to give a more performing aspect to his work. In 1937 Robbins secured
his first part in The Brothers Ashkenazi, this intensified his passion for theater leading

5. Estepr Theory Lab
The purpose of this lab was to determine the atomic structure of small molecules and
ions which we did by drawing Lewis Dot Structures, drawing molecular geometries,
and using the VSEPR model on a computer. The VSEPR Theory states that molecular
geometries of molecules can be predicted through their number of electronpairs on the
central atombecause these electrons will repulse each other as much as they can
while still being bound to the central atom. The Lewis Dot Structures and the
molecular geometries that we were asked to draw were in order for us to have
background knowledge of how each moleculewas shaped before we had to make them
on the computer.
Most of the angles we calculated in the molecular geometry section of our lab were
similar to the ones we predicted in Section II.C. For example, our model for ClF5
was predicted to have less than a 90 degree angle and our calculated result on the
computer was 87.52 degrees. Also, the CO32 predicted model was 120 degree angle
and we got 119.99 degrees which rounds up to the predicted model. However, some
of the angles we calculated did not agree with the predictions we made. For example,
CH3OH was predicted to have a bond angle of less than 109.5 degrees for both the C
and O bond but our computer model showed an angle of 120.08 degrees for the C
bond and 163.40 for the O bond. In the beginning of ... Show more content on

Through this structure we can see which atomic orbitals make up the different
parts of molecular orbitals. The HOMO orbital is antibonding with sigma bonds.
The HOMO 1 orbital is a bonding pi orbital. The HOMO 2 orbital is a bonding,
sigma orbital. The LUMO orbital is an antibonding pi orbital. The LUMO 1 is a
bonding pi orbital. We can tell this because antibonding orbitals have a gap between
the two atoms while bonding orbitals do not. A sigma bond occurs through axial
overlap between atoms. A pi bond occurs with lateral overlapping of
6. Social Movements Against Bidding For Sports Mega Events
Social Movements against Bidding for Sport Mega events: A Case Study of the 2024
Summer Olympics
Introduction
Governments currently show great interest in sport mega events investment since that
they may have the opportunity to stimulate economic development, create
international image and prestige, generate a feel good factor among citizens and
inspire grassroots participation (Grix and Carmichael, 2012). Moreover, the
International Olympic Committee (IOC) states that their critical mission is to
promote a positive legacy from the Olympic Games to the host countries
(International Olympic Committee, 2007, p.15), although legacy is hard to define
or measure and could be both positive and negative in practice (Agha, et al. 2012).
In particular, emerging states like China, South Africa and Brazil have managed to
bid for the Olympics or the World Cup. The use of hosting sport mega events to
enhance their soft power and achieve equal positions in global affairs has been
highlighted in recent years (Grix and Lee, 2013).
However, the effect of sport mega events has been challenged, questioning whether to
host these events or not (Lauermann, 2015). As Chalip points out, host countries may
fail to make preparations for the staging of sport mega events and encounter the risk
of soft disempowerment. Meanwhile, anti Olympics social campaigns have arisen in
many advanced capitalist countries. Consequently, they have had a considerable
influence on the bids for sport mega events

In this paper I will give a break down on the leadership traits in the two films we
viewed during this course. The movies were 12 Angry Men and Dead Poet Society .
Both movies demonstrated several leadership traits and qualities that were also
described in the books we studied written by Peter Northouse and Warren Bennis. I
will compare traits and theories with different characters from the films. I will
explain the importance of the mentioned traits. I will also explain and contrast the
significance of rhetoric written by Aristotle while explaining the importance in a
leadershipcapacity. I will conclude all discussed objectives and reiterate their
importance for leadership roles and responsibilities.

promoting free thinking, Professor Keating empowered his students in various ways.
One student was inspired by professor Keating s free thinking ideology and ended up

death when he committed suicide because of his father s strict rules. His father
wanted to suppress his son s free thinking and get him to comply with his harsh

8. Jane Eyre And Blanche Foil
Jane Eyre is the main character on the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte who
did not have strong personality while living with aunt Mrs. Reed and her children,
but after Jane was sent to the Lowood Institution, a charity school for girls. During
school years, about eight years, Jane became mature, and accepted the harsh truth
about life; knew how to draw, to play piano; learned French, and was loved by
everyone by her sweet personality. Blanche Ingram, on the other hand, is more of
very showy but not genuine. Mr. Rochester knew, however, marrying Jane will be
too easy, and she will because of his social status and money. So instead of making
Jane s life easier, Mr. Rochester plays small affair with Blanche which eventually

Blanche is very tall but has a proud, arrogant manner, a mocking air, and a satirical
laugh. She tends to pretend expertise in subjects about which she actually knows
nothing, especially when Blanche speaks to her snobbish mother. Blanche serves
as a character foil to Jane: her artificiality makes Jane s frankness all the more
evident and attractive. Mr. Rochester is aware in Blanche s interest in him which
is for his money, but he starts pretending that he is in love with her in order to
make Jane jealous. Mrs. Fairfax is fond of Blanche because of her beauty, and also
her appearances in the public. Mrs. Fairfax said to Jane that Blanche was admired
not only for her beauty, but for her accomplishments which was her act of singing,
and duet with Mr. Rochester. And Mrs. Fairfax favors Blanche to be Mr. Rochester
bride rather than Jane because of the social status each girl has, and how a governess

10. A Survey Report On Malaysian Diaspora
Introduction
To better understand what media sources the Singaporean diaspora uses to find out
about news back home in Singapore, I conducted a survey amongst Singaporeans
based overseas, namely in places such as Australia, the United States, some countries
in South East Asia and also in Europe. The demographics used were age based,
dispersed mainly among working class adults and university students.
The survey resulted in a 40% readership of www.straitstimes.com, the online version
of Singapore s leading newspaper The Straits Times and a 27% readership of
another website, which is also a subsidiary of the Straits Times, called Stomp.
Going from these numbers, one can say that the bulk of Singaporeans overseas still
rely heavily on the online version of The Straits Times for news back home in
Singapore. From here, I can conclude that the key media outlet utilised by
Singaporeans overseas would be the StraitsTimes.com. My survey also includes the
purposes of these sites, namely what Singaporeans use these sites for and how much
whether or not they consider these sources to be relevant.
In this essay, I intend to analyse the The Straits Times and its online counterpart,
www.straitstimes.com , as well as its other subsidiary STOMP (Straits Times Online
Mobile Print). Given the premise that www.straitstimes.com is reflective of its parent,
The Straits Times, it is imperative that we analyse The Straits Times as a whole,
taking into consideration that in the end the popular media
11. Dental Fluoridation
In the early 1900s, dentist Frederick McKay began to see a trend in the patients he
was seeing in Colorado Springs, Colorado (NIDR, 2014). The majority of his patients
were showing signs of dental fluorosis, brown spots on permanent teeth, with no
explanation (NIDR, 2014). Surprisingly, Dr. McKay found that those with dental
fluorosiswere also resistant to tooth decay (McClure, 1970). There was very little
known about this condition, so Dr. McKay took it upon himself to do some research.
After looking at trends, he discovered that the areas where dental fluorosis was
prominent were also areas where there was naturally occurring fluoridein the drinking
water (McClure, 1970). The first water fluoridationproject began in 1945 in Grand...

Over 100 Health organizations recognize water fluoridation as a healthy and safe
preventative measure to control the cases of tooth decay in different populations
(CDC, 1999). Just similar to fortifying foods, like cereal with iron, milk with vitamin
D, and bread with folic acid, public health association s claim that water with fluoride
provides a specific benefit with minimal health risks.
Recent research, however, has consistently shown it to be an insufficient and not an
effective form of prevention to tooth decay. In the most largely conducted
longitudinal study following infants through childhood, there has been no correlation
with increased fluorine concentration in water and decreased tooth decay (Warren,
2008). Yet, there was a correlation between increased water fluoridation and
increased dental fluorosis (Warren, 2008). These results align closely with that of the
National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDR) study conducted in
1986 1987. When water fluoride concentration was less than 0.3mg/L, 55.5%
children were shown to have tooth decay, while the children with dental fluorosis
was 14.6% (Yiamouyiannnis, 1990). However, as the water fluoride concentration
increased to over 1.2mg/L, the incidence of children with tooth decay was 56.4%,
while the incidence of children with fluorosis rose significantly to 40.5%
(Yiamouyiannnis, 1990). Fluoridation of water has also been shown to be

13. The Fetus Should Be Used Throughout Gestation
If the patient decides to continue with the pregnancy, there are many screening steps
required for acceptable management of the disease. Ultrasonography of the fetus
should be used throughout gestation, with a focus on the ocular structures. Neonatal
magnetic resonance imaging has also been developed at some centers, which may
allow to be more sensitive in detecting smaller calcifications. However, the method of
magnetic resonance imagining in the fetus has not been studied enough in the context
of a cancerrisk fetus in regards to fetus safety. Some experts suggest that there
should be early induction of the newborn, if they have been identified as harboring
high risk features on screening tests. However, this approach is not accepted with
all experts in the USA. Therefore, this decision should be made on a case by case
basis between all expert physicians involved in their respective fields (Gombos,
2012).
Retinal tumors are curable if diagnosed early enough. However, when dealing with
the germline version of the disease, there is a high risk of developing a second
primary tumor elsewhere. Usually, this second tumor is osteosarcoma. This is due to
the fact that the pRB protein, encoded by RB1, functions directly as a coactivator in
the transcription of osteoblast differentiation (OMIM). Single stranded
conformational polymorphism and DNA sequencing have been used to analyze
retinoblastoma tumors. In most cases, a single point mutation is the cause of the first

The ideal family of parents and a few kids typically does bonding activities. As time
goes by, they grow to love each other more by doing things together. The rebellious
lives led by the narrator, Robert, and his brother, Carlton, in White Angel by Michael
Cunningham reveal a lack of such family bonding. The descriptions of the
interactions between Carlton and his mothershow the mother s lack of authority over
him. Additionally, the father s apparent lack of parental assertiveness reveals a lack
of authority over both Carlton and Robert. As a result, the narrator views Carlton as
more of a guardian than either of his parents. It becomes clear that the isolation of the
parents is responsible for the unruly lives of their sons. Robert... Show more content

In her outburst she says, I don t ask for much...I don t ask where he goes, I don t ask

statement is immensely important to the reader s understanding of how Carlton was
raised or rather how he raised himself because it reveals a lack of intervention and
control in Carlton s life by his parents. Another brilliant message conveyed by the
mud scene is how yielding the father is. The father, who is described as being worn
down by too much patience (Cunningham 235), lightly recommends that Carlton
clean up the mess. The father s involvement in this scene illustrates that Carlton was
never really punished for wrongdoings, thus making it difficult to learn from his
mistakes. Because Carlton was raised without much supervision and punishment, and
because he is Robert s role model, Robert eventually decides to test his mother s
boundaries. We see this at the party when Robert protests his bedtime. When
confronted by his mother, Robert runs to Carlton in search of defense. While Carlton
ultimately doesn t help the cause, the trust we see when Robert resorts to his brother
reinforces the idea that he takes from his brother, not so much his
15. Psy 201 Study Guide
Introduction to psychology
TASK 1
Psychodynamic is an approach within psychoanalysis (a human behaviour theory)
which was found by Sigmund Freud. He believed that the unconscious mind which
was developed primarily from childhood experiences is what drives our behaviour.
Freud thought of the human mind as though it was an iceberg the conscious mind
(which you re in control of) as the tip, and the unconscious mind (which you have
no control over) as the larger part of the iceberg. This led to him believing that
personality was made up of 3 important elements, ID (instinct e.g. sex, hunger, lust,
aggression and so on), Ego (reality and how you perceive the world) and Superego
(morality, following rules within society and being sensible).
Behaviourism is a psychological approach that emphasis on environmental factors
influencing observable human behaviour. This approach consists of two main
processes: Classical conditioning which means learning things by associating them
with something e.g. if you ate Chinese food before and it made you feel queasy and
unwell then the next time you see Chinese food you will associate it to that
experience you had before. Operant conditioning which means learning things by
positive and negative reinforcement and association e.g. when you do well in school
and your parents buy you the game you ve always wanted (positive reinforcement).
A key difference between the two is the nature and the nurture debate. The
psychodynamic theory takes both

In today s day and age of rapidly changing technology and ways of shopping,
preparing to buy a vehicle can be a daunting task. What app should I download?
Am I finding the best deals? Should I buy new or used? These are all very common
questions to most people when they are preparing to buy a vehicle. The
information is out there and attainable, you just have to know how to find it. Last
year I had the opportunity to buy a vehicle, but my father also wanted me to learn
about money in this process. I was very excited to get a new truck so he didn t have
to push very hard to get me to start looking, but he did give me some pointers along
the way.
Before I started looking at dealerships I researched heavily what vehicle I wanted.

Finally, I wanted my truck to look good. I wanted a grey or black truck with off road

I shopped around using apps and websites like auto trader, cars.com, Edmunds, and
pretty much any other online resource I could find. I was trying to prevent going
to a dealership and paying more for a lesser truck than I could find on my own. I
knew if I was patient enough I would find the vehicle I wanted in my price range.
In fact, the only time I visited a dealership was to test drive a Tundra to make sure
it is what I wanted. I checked multiple apps every single day for months looking for
the perfect truck to come along at the right price. It seemed like I would never find
a vehicle that fit what I wanted and was in my price range. I was preparing to give

He said eventually the right truck would come along. Finally, it did. I ended up

engine, Crew Cab, with four wheel drive and a leveling kit. Most of the trucks in
that category were way out of my budget, but this one was at a price that was 20
percent less than the list price on Kelly Blue Book. It may have been good luck, or
that someone typed in the wrong number online, or my patience.

17. The Importance Of Local Control In Education
In the matter of education policy trends and public preferences, control of
educational issues belongs to local officials. The often rapid changes in education
assume that everyone prefers increased state and federal control. As legislators on
the federal level debate Common Core State Standards and officials on the state
level debate the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind, it comes down the food
chain to the local leadership and school boards to interpret and apply the mandates.
Our local public school systems, assisted and encouraged by state and federal
governments, should have basic control of what goes on in all of our public
schools. Local control must always remain solely in the public domain and solidly
anchored in the will of the citizens of our local communities (Clinchy, 2013, p.27).
Proponents of local control believe power belongs at the district level through
management of school boards and teacher unions. Opponents of local control
believe administration power belongs to state departments and political offices.
The disagreement in how each of the groups operates is based on a discrepancy of
values. Local school boards are shaped by the rules and policies that regulate their
membership, compensation, the nature of meetings, and so forth. Nationally, 62.3
percent of board members report that they receive no salary, while 14.3 percent
receive an annual salary of $5,000 or more and 2 percent earn a salary of more than
$15,000 per year (Hess Meeks, 2010,

CHAPTER 3
BASIC FUNDAMENTALS AND DESIGN PARAMETERS OF PATCH
3.1Introduction As we all know, Selection of antenna is very important in designing
of successful rectenna because antenna is responsible for how much power is
received by the circuitry following after the antenna. This chapter describes the theory
of antenna and its property, design process, simulations and fabrication of an
Microsrip antenna that operates within the microwave frequency range. First we start
with a brief explanation of the main design parameters of an antenna then we briefly
explain the advantages of using microstrip antennas in these applications [4 18]. Also
a brief introduction of the software used for the design and simulations stages. Then
we will explain how making some changes to the shape of the ground plane and the
radiating patch of the antenna can improve the performance. After all the parametric
simulations a final antenna version was chosen and subsequently built.
An antenna also known as midair is an electrical expedient which translates electric
power into radio waves, and apposite to it. It is typically cast off with a radio
transmitter or radio receiver. In broadcast, a radio transmitter deliveries an electric
current wavering at radio frequency (i.e. a high frequency alternating current ) to the
antenna s terminuses, and the antenna produces the energy from the current as
electromagnetic waves (radio waves). In reception, an antenna interrupts certain of
the power of an

Sport in Australia has developed rapidly, gaining popularity amongst fans and
players, to create a successful industry benefiting from multi million dollar turnovers
each year. Popular sports in Australia have all used money, marketing and media
successfully to increase profits and encourage major participation growth. These
techniques are seen in rugby league, AFL and cricket which all dominate in ratings
and participation. Unlike these sports, volleyball struggles with participation and
viewers, which can be directly linked to its poor use of money, marketing and media
techniques. A range of techniques will be given to increase popularity of volleyball at
Proserpine State High School and the Whitsunday region. ... Show more content on

First the school should build its participation through its social media accounts and
newsletter to increase participation and exposure. More school comps should be
run with prizes depending on player numbers to encourage new people to have a
go .This would increase popularity because people who are athletic would
participate even if they haven t played for a chance to win. Other schools in the area
should also start school training, eventually resulting in inter school comps which
have small travel time but equal game quality. This would increase participation
because people choose sports where there is a relatively high skill
22. Density Lab
1. Objective: My objective for this experiment is to find the mass, volume, and
density of a variety of objects. After this, I will record my data and place a select
few of the items on a graph. My hypothesis for this experiment is, If I measure the
mass of every object, the wooden ball will have the least because it seems to be the
smallest and most lightweight.
2. Equipment: 3 rubber stoppers, 5 rocks, wooden ball, wooden cube, 4 density cubes,
triple beam balance, graduated cylinder, pipette, and beaker.
3. Procedure:
1. Create a 4 by 15 graph.
2. Place the object of your choosing on the triple beam balance s plate.
3. Use the weights to get the other side of the scale on zero to get the mass.
4. Next, place the object in a graduated cylinder filled with ... Show more content on

Record all of your data in the graph.
4. Data: The rocks usually had a mass between six and seventeen, and a volume of
three through seven. Two of the stopper s volumes was one digit less than the mass.
The wooden objects had a low mass and volume, which allowed them to float. The
density cubes were always high in both mass and volume.
*Data table will be turned in on paper*
V= L x W x H D=m/v
5. Analysis: During the experiment, our triple beam balance would not rest on the
zero on its own. We would find the mass for some objects, and to check it, we
would measure it again and get a different mass. This most likely caused some of
the masses measured to be incorrect. Another problem we faced was the wooden
ball. Since it floated in the water, we had to push it under the water with the tip of a
pencil. This might have impacted the volume.
6. Conclusion: The wooden cube has the smallest mass out of the objects used.
Unsurprisingly, the wooden ball had the next to smallest. The object with the highest
mass was the brass. The object with the smallest volume was the wooden cube as
well.

23. Medieval Art And Architecture Of The Gothic Architecture
The term Gothic comes from Giorgio Vaasari, he used the term to ridicule the
medieval art and architecture. Putting the art aside, the architecture of the period
was quite awesome, cathedrals stand today as a testament to this. The Gothic style
was birthed in France as the Romanesque style evolved. The Saint Denis was the
first Gothic cathedral; it was designed Abbot Suger in 1144. Gothic Cathedrals
were marvels in their time as they towered above the cities, they frequently reached
over 150 meters tall. The Cathedrals were built with the intention of looking like a
Latin cross; the two parts that make up the Latin cross are the Nave and the
transept. The three elements that make Gothic cathedrals different from previous
cathedrals are the Flying Buttresses, pointed arches and the ribbed vaults. Although
these items are cornerstones for what Gothic stands for, the façade with the three
door portals, the rose window and twin towers are what characterize French Gothic
cathedrals. The door portals are one of the main characteristics of the French Gothic
façade. The portal is part of the porch, which usually starts at the steps leading up
to the cathedral. The portals of the French façade are unique because of their deep
recession and how ornate they are. The façade (main entrance to the cathedral) of
the French Gothic cathedral has three door portals, each into a different section of the
cathedrals. Each portal delivered a different message with its stonework, this work
24. Pros And Cons Of Rizal
Bayot, Jezza, B.
SS14 A1 Retraction Controversy
On Dr. Jose Rizal s day of execution, many supposition circulated about him
revoking his words and his actions. This issue became a long term debate from then
on until now. Some people profess that Jose Rizal retracted while others assert that
he did not. This controversy cannot be ignored especially that we are talking about
a man who has been recognized as the national hero of the country. One of the
definitions of a hero and also my definition, is a person who is willing to die for the
sake of others while a national hero is a person willing to die for the country, the
point is if Rizal s retraction papers were true, it only proves that he could not die for
our country and I would be disappointed that he was declared as our national hero.
According to my research, the person behind Rizal s retraction papers was ... Show

Rizal ask forgiveness to his father for the pain that Jose Rizal pays his father after
giving him education while Jose Rizal told his brother that he will die with a clean
conscience. With these information, it proves that Jose Rizal is not afraid to die and
had accepted the truth that he will come to an end.
In the modern time, several investigations occur, analyzing if the retraction papers
of Jose Rizal were valid. Ricardo Pascual who studied many documents of Rizal
claimed that the retraction letter was not written by Jose Rizal. Famous personalities
like Senator Rafael Palma believe that Jose Rizal I has a mature personality and
retraction is not Jose Rizal s thing.
After my research, I clearly know what side am I on. I believe that Dr. Jose Rizal did
not retract. Jose Rizal wanted to retract is because he wanted to marry Josephine
Bracken but there are no proof, no certificates and witnesses. Dona Trining cleared
out that Jose Rizal did not marry Bracken and Jose Rizal had never spoken about
marriage to his
25. Write An Essay On Abc s Pre-Spoken Programs History
ABC has been producing outstanding programming since the days of radio back in
1943. Born out of NBC s sale of their Blue Network, ABC eventually got into
television in 1949, making it one of the big three stations. The network is currently
owned by Disney, who has had partnerships with the network on and off for years.
Read on to find out more about ABC, their programming and their history.
Number Seven: ABC Was the First to Allow Pre Taped Shows
Setting themselves apart from the other stations, ABC began using a Magnetophon
tape recorder to pre record their shows, which CBS and NBC were not doing. This
was especially crucial to maintaining Bing Crosby s show, as he preferred working in
a recording studio as opposed to broadcasting live.

Number Four: They Aired the Most Watched Television Series in History
When ABC aired the miniseries version of Alex Haley s Roots, it became the most
watched and discussed program in history. It s initial airing earned 130 million
viewers, with the final episode drawing in nearly 100 million viewers. All episodes
continue to rank in Nielsen s list of the top 100 rated TV shows of all time, with the
final episode coming in at number three.
Number Three: They Had the First Female Evening News Anchor
At a time when it was felt that women could not be taken seriously reporting on
hard news stories, ABC decided to take a chance with Barbara Walters. Hiring her
away from NBC s The Today Show, Walters became the first female in evening news,
co anchoring the ABC Evening News along with Harry

Timeline of events and causes of the Challenger Space shuttle accident
In 28 January 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was launched for the Last time and
exploded less than 2 minutes after the lift off resulting in the deaths of all seven crew
members on board (Space shuttle challenger: Wikipedia, 2006).
The failure of the solid rocket booster o rings was attributed to several factors,
including faulty design of the solid rocket boosters, insufficient low temperature
testing of the O ring material and lack of communication between different levels of
NASA management.

Once functional, the shuttle became exposed to operational demands from a
multitude of users as NASA endeavoured to live up to its promises. Coordinating the
needs of political, commercial, military, international and scientific communities
placed immense pressures on the shuttle management team (nasa: government, 2006).
Political pressure to provide a reliable reusable space vehicle with rapid turn around
time and deployment seriously hindered the ability for effective systems integration
and development. It was not feasible to construct any complete management support
systems that could integrate all of the factors associated with such a diverse group in
the operational environment.
The push of the Reagan administration to declare the shuttle operational before the
developmental stage was completed created uncertainty and low NASA employee
morale
The process of selling the concept of a re usable space transportation system to the
American public and its political system started in the late 1960 s, following the
successful Apollo mission. The space shuttle was approved as a method for
operating in space without a firm definition of what it goals would be (unlike
previous NASA programmes). Support for the project, both politically and
economically, was not very strong (nasa: government, 2006).
These factors created an environment in NASA preceding the
27. Dwelling in Possibilities Analysis Essay
Rhetorical Analysis Is our youth doomed? Mark Edmundson begs this question in
his essay, Dwelling in Possibilities. His essay explains how the lives of young people
have changed drastically over the years. Edmundson, professor at the University of
Virginia, says his students are constantly going and that they never stop; they never
settle in fear of missing something great. In lieu of this, Edmundson says that they
are, victims of their own hunger for speed (Edmundson2). He also adds that his
students, and young people in general, use today s technology to be everywhere at
once (watching a movie, instant messaging, talking on the phone, and glancing at a
textbook) and are therefore, not anywhere in particular (Edmundson... Show more

But, again, that is debatable and an author can never go wrong by proposing a
solution when writing to persuade. Besides omitting a solution, Edmundson does an
excellent job persuading his readers, especially with the use of references. Most
writers, when writing to persuade, include facts and statistics to support their
viewpoint. Edmundson, however, refers to authors, and very famous ones at that.
This is a very successful method because his whole argument has to do with the lack
of culture, art, and writing, in today s youth. Referencing these authors really helps
the reader to sense where he is coming from and helps them to sense his passion for
literature. Some of the authors referenced include: Thoreau, Immanuel Kant,
Gertrude Stein, Nietzche, Lord Byron, Wordsworth, and Emerson. One reference, in
particular, serves as an excellent example of how Edmundson s references are
successful in getting his point across. He compares youth to the contrasting Byron
and Wordsworth, Byron to how his students are today, and Wordsworth to how it
ought to be. He states that Byron wished to never be bored, as does today s youth
(Edmundson 11). Edmundson also mentions, students now are Romantics of a
Byronic sort, and that, he would have adored their world of fast travel, fast
communication, and fast relationships (Edmundson 11). In contrast to Byron and
today s youth, Edmundson says that

32. The Chronicles Of William Faulkner
The Chronicles Of William Faulkner
Man is born and chains, and even when he is chain broken, he still is not free.
William Faulkner remains one if the most preeminent American writers of the
twentieth century. ‬Faulkner had a great influence on the modern day literature
he was very popular for his poetry, short stories, his novels, and screen plays.
Faulkner is among the top five writers in literary history, Faulkner meanly wrote
about the American South and Mississippi he still received the respect as a novelist
in Spain, Japan, France and Russia.
Help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and pity and
sacrifice which have been of his past. (Oates,246) was stated in his acceptance
speech. Many say that his writing reflects on today s literature. He is known for
making a enormous remark on the evolutionary periods in this society. ‪Faulkner
s style in his short stories is not the same as the typical writing you see in most short
stories. Faulkner s narrative techniques show numerous descriptions, details, and has
a complex structure presented in his stories. ‬‬
William institutes characters just from using vivid descriptions and explanatory
images. ‬His acknowledged writings‬‪ are The sound and the fury , As I

33. The Best American Essays Of The Century, By Joyce Carol
Oates
The written word has become a domain for people of all ages and eras to learn
from. Within the last century or so, there has been a procession of memorable
writers with important messages to understand and learn from. It takes diligence
when reading to understand what the author is saying within the context of their
lives. Sometimes, the context of the reader s life makes the writer s story more
memorable. In The Best American Essays of the Century, by Joyce Carol Oates,
just in the range of 35 years, from 1901 to 1935, readers are told about things
experienced, told, or imagined. Each essaytells a story or a lesson in the form of the
written world. Although the authors most likely lived very different lives compared
to each other, each essay portrays similar ideas or themes that can be interpreted by
the readers. Only through writingcan ideas, such as these, be preserved and shared
with others in completely different situations as the author was. These essays themes
have made them timeless, being able to apply to the past, the present, and the future.
Within the first fifteen essays of this collection, the themes: the present is made from
events in the past, strength can be stemmed from bad surroundings, and judgment is
inevitable from those around us, are evident and important for readers to discover in
order to understand the historic credibility behind them.
Students are taught the events of history so that they will not be tempted to repeat
ones with tragic outcomes.

I personally believe a hero is somebody that impacts on somebody s life in a
positive way. This could be by doing anything from inspiring somebody, by achieving
in something that others aim too, to sacrificing yourself to save other people s lives.
Sir Edmund Hillary is my hero. He is primarily known for being the first person ever
to climb Mount Everest, though he did plenty of other things in his time, for instance,
he started the Himalayan trust, which was a charity organisation that has helped
thousands of people. What makes him a hero, is that he has affected numerous people
s lives by achieving something remarkable that countless people aim to, and by
starting up an initiative that has exceedingly helped an abundance of people. Another

Literature examines the idea of how fantastic literature can bring out an emphasis on
how the world transforms through the writers eyes. As fantasy literature grows it can
become unclear as to what social norms the literature is trying to juxtapose. Ezberk
argues that trying to categorize fantasyliterature is a rebellious act as the subgenre s

not meant to deliver. Ezberk argues through other works by establishing that the
concept of realism is not valid in fantasy literature as it becomes too vague. Instead
fantasy literature takes the reader away from a world they know and into a world
where it is heart desire to be. The concept of subversive literature is that it gives a

Sl 1: America s First Nuclear Disaster Describe the Incident and Identify Toxic
Materials On January 3, 1961 at 9:01 PM the United States experienced what any
believe the be the first nuclear reactor accident in world history (Adams, 1996).
The US Army had commissioned a small reactor prototype to be built in the Idaho
desert that surround Idaho Falls. They believed that they were isolated enough
that they could conduct experiments with a small reactor that would mimic the
conditions of the site they wished to have the reactor on while also allowing for a
safety zone for the people in the nearby town. The reactor was a small three rod
affair that did not have the shielding or the safety measures that would come in
response to this accident (Stacy, 2000, 144). For some reason, the center control
rod, possibly for maintenance purposes, was manually lifted approximately 50 cm
(Stacy, 2000, 141). This caused there to be an instant, or prompt, criticality which
caused the reactor to blow up (Stacy, 2000, 141). The reason for this appears to be
that the reactor activated due to the reaction caused by the influx of water, a
moderator, into the system. The reaction rapidly heated the moderator and the
cooling water to steam which expanded in the small containment vessel and caused
the reactor pressure lid to blow off of the vessel (Stacy, 2000, 141). Two of the three
men, who were working inside the reactor compartment, apparently died instantly
from the explosion. The other

40. Modern Portfolio Theory Is An Essential Part Of Higher
Return
Modern Portfolio Theory
Modern portfolio theory is an investment theory based on that investors can
construct portfolio to maximize return which based on a given level of market risk,
emphasizing that risk is an essential part of higher return. Modern portfolio theory is
one of the most significant economic theory dealing with finance and investment,
which was published by Harry Markowitz in his paper Portfolio Selection in 1952 by
Journal of Finance (Shipway, 2009).
According to Shipway (2009), the problem of direct real estate investment is the lack
of liquidity which compared with other investment media. The reason is real estate

Due to the characteristics of real estate market, most of institutions adapt modern
portfolio theory as a standard tool for understanding how the real estate market
behave, whether independently or as part of the overall investment holdings. The
modern portfolio theory would help investors to create a portfolio of investments that
produces predictable return. Risk in this system is defined as unstable return. The
application of modern portfolio theory to real estate would allows real estate
managers to understand both what to expect from real estate investments as a whole,
and how those real estate holdings fit into the overall portfolios. However, there are
some disagreements of applying modern portfolio theory to real estate. In 1993,
Young and Grieg reported that it has been proved mathematically that real estate is
unsuitable for modern portfolio theory analysis, because real estate is heterogeneous
and the real estate market is illiquid and different to the stock market. Young and
Grieg have indicated that due to the investment returns depend on different
circumstances of investment properties, the modern portfolio theory is an inaccurate
guide for real estate asset allocation (ibid). However, they compared two different
properties performance and the returns of the two properties are definitely different.
They reported that diversification by real estate type and

I believe the most pressing issue facing the aging population on a daily basis is
financial security while living on a fixed income. Aging individuals sources of
income include Social Security, employment, private pensions, and assets. The
median household income for those 65 and older in 2007 was only $27, 798
(Hooyman Kiyak, 2011). I chose financial security as the most pressing issue facing
the older population because it influences several other areas. Sources of income for
the agingpopulation are sometimes insufficient to maintain proper housing, may
cause health problems, and restricts access to nursing homes and assisted living
facilities. The difficulty that the lack of financial security can pose for an aging

A variety of long term care options are available to those who require more
assistance. Assisted living facilities, village concepts, and Continuing Care Retirement

mobility. These types of facilities focus on providing assistance with daily living
activities for the elderly while still allowing them to be independent. Residents also
have ample opportunities to socialize in common spaces such as dining rooms and
living rooms. However, these facilities are often expensive and must be paid for
privately. As a result, the option for living in these helping facilities may be out of

42. Negative Effects Of Technology In Family Life
It is now possible to earn a college degree from home. Making it possible for anyone
to attend a college that could not make it to a campus in person. Most Universities
and colleges offer degree programs that can be earned online. Students can fit
school into their schedules easier because course material is available anywhere at
any time (Irby Li, 2008). In the past, it was challenging for people, especially older
adults, to fit college into their busy schedules. People that had full time jobs and
families just did not have the time to fit college into their busy lives, even if they
wanted to. Technology has allowed people to work towards a college degree while
working full time and caring for their families. Some jobs offer incentives for their
employees to return to college, which can help them advance in their career;
therefore earning more money. Older college students are finding this method of
college more attractive over the traditional campus classes, which is an incredible
benefit for people and their families. People are now able to keep in contact with
people through social media sites and text messaging. The negative impacts are often
discussed how technology has interfered in family life, but there are positive benefits
to families, too. A recent study revealed that the majority of families feel that
technology has affected their relationships in positive ways (McDaniel Coyne, 2016).
Couples are now able to communicate throughout their day while they are

chaos, we established order. With it, we created society and bound the very nature
to our will, yet, just as our order binds others, it ensnares us. In this society of our
own creation Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains, as Rousseau once
said. These chains, the shackles of justice, were forged by us to be weapons against
ourselves. And so we decide when to use that weapon, to decide once and for all
what is justice and what is not. Tales from Ovid, a strong sense of what is right and
what is wrong is both essential and worthless, and the spirit of the stories, embodied in

In that story, Tiresias, a man is called up to the heavens to settle an argument
between Jupiter and Juno. In retaliation for siding with Jupiter, Juno curses him to
a life of blindness but receives the gift of prophecy from Jupiter. This ultimately
brief story highlights one of the main themes of Tales from Ovid, the idea of
divine wrath and benefit. Those who anger the Olympians receive despair in
return, often transformed into a lower existence. Actaeon, who only by accident
sees Diana naked, is forced to be a stag that is hunted and killed by his friends and
hounds. Such is a humiliation above all others. Actaeon, who was a predator, is
now the prey, a lowly stag. Yet, in other cases, people are rewarded by the gods.
King Midas, who returned Silenus, one of Bacchus s friends, to the god received one
wish within Bacchus s power. There is no concept of morality within these
dealings, only the idea of what pleases and what angers. Such is not true justice,
only a dark revenge or heavenly blessing based on primitive emotions. Yet, these
ideas reveal much about us, the creators of the work. The very presence of divine
entities, such as Jupiter, allows them to judge mortals, the people below them, to
right so called wrongs. People crave a higher power, people above them, to make
the decisions. Yet in contrast with this, Tiresias is asked to make a judgment for the
immortals, showing that people still want a say in what happens. These paradoxical
desires are mixed with an intense fear of being punished by those same almighty
beings, exemplified by Tiresias s punishment from Juno. These conflicting themes
represent what humanity first conceived justice to be: punishment in the form of
revenge, to have a higher being right wrongs. Knowing justice can be a double edged
sword, the fear of it being aimed at them terrifies the masses. This

45. Challenges Facing Our Education Institution At
Whitehorse...
A.Challenges in Our Educational Institution We have several challenges in our
education institution here at Whitehorse High School. I am going to write about
two different, yet related challenges that our school is faced with year after year.
One of the challenges we face is over the past four or five years we have been a
School of Improvement. With this challenge constantly at our front door year after
year comes several state and district mandated requirements that our school has to try
and fulfill each year. For example, four years ago our school hired a consultant to help
improve student engagement and overall teacher performance. The consultant would
bring a couple of colleagues with her and together with district personal they would
enter the teacher classrooms all together to evaluate overall teacher performance and
effectiveness with student engagement and rigor. This was very challenging to our
teaching staff and our administrators to try and meet the demands of the state and
district. Some of those demands required a lot of training on how to engage students,
out of class meetings, district training, out of district training, and teacher committees
formed to meet weekly to discuss overall school improvement. This first round of
consultant work did not help improve our overall school rating. After two years with
this consultant the district and school decided to let them go and were directed by the
state to hire a new consultant company to come in and try
46. The Yellow Wall Essay
The Yellow Wall was published in 1892 by Charlotte Perkins Stetson. The story was
written as a semi autobiographical short story about an unnamed narrator that
describes the treatment of women during this time frame. It takes place in a county
rental home where her husband has taken her for some treatment from an illness that
she supposedly has. Through ethos, pathos, and logos I will review the story and
show the reader that in fact the unnamed narrator was not mentally ill when she
arrived at the county home but did in fact become mentally ill through the treatment
that was delivered. The story starts with our no name narrator and her husband
coming to a county home that he has rented for three months to provide her with
relaxation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It appears that her thought process is intake and she well articulates herself. It is
seldom that mere ordinary people like John and myself secure ancestral halls for
the summer (Steton 647). As the story progresses the narrators sentence structure
becomes erratic and short wither thoughts running rapidly as evidenced not only
in what she says, by how she says it, I quite enjoy the room, now it is bare again.
How those children did tear about here! This bedstead is fairly gnawed! But I must
get to work (Stetson 655).By using the sentence s and sentence structure the reader
can validate that the narrators mental wellbeing is deteriorating. We are told that
her husband was a physician and was charged with her care. The simple title of
physician automatically conveys a sense of trust and knowledge that others do not
have. A higher authority if you will, If a physician of high standing, and one s own
husband, assures friends and relatives there is really nothing wrong to matter with
one but temporary nervous depression a slight hysterical tendency what is one to

direction...I have a schedule prescription for each hour of the day. (Stetson, 648) By
establishing that he is a doctor and reaffirming that he loves her and attentive allows
47. Bruce Dawe Poetry
Bruce Dawe Poetry
Many of Bruce Dawe s poems have a heavy message and a bleak meaning relating to
society s weaknesses and downfalls.
Enter without so much as knocking is a poem that is critical of consumerism in the
modern world. The poem itself is a story of one man s life, from birth till death and is
a satirical look at modern society and its materialism. The poem begins with the
Latin line Memento, homo, qui, pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris. This means in
English Remember you are dust and dust you will return . This is the central idea
of the poem; no matter how many materialistic items we acquire and consume, in
the end, we all end up at the same place. The poem then follows by speaking of a
baby waking into life, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

CEMETERY. SILENCE As the child blinked into life, the man blinks into death,
returning to dust at last.
Although a completely different subject, Homecoming is in ways similar to enter
without so much as knocking . Both facing realistic views on life and the issues that
are facing society, Bruce Dawes poems convey what he, and others, has wanted to say.
Homecoming is an elegy and anti war poem written about the Vietnam War. The
poem starts off in what seems to be a monotone, with many simple verbs such as
picking... bringing.... rolling ... tagging... used to depict how day after day it is all
the same. The bodies of the soldiers all tediously follow the same routine and being
treated in a somewhat seemingly cold and offhanded way. Unlike enter without so
much as knocking , these simple words are repetitive and slow paced; they aim to
enhance the effect of imprinting a strong image within the reader s imagination,
forcing the reader into feeling this great injustice for these soldiers who have
sacrificed their lives for their country, within the war.
In this free verse war poem, the idea of journey extends itself to cover both the
physical and emotional aspects of the subject matter of the poem. Repetition and word
48. Brown And Levinson Theory Of Politeness
Brown and Levinson s politeness theory was designed to expound on the methods
used by speakers who wish to mitigate face threats realised by face threatening acts
toward the hearer. Two significant divisions of the theory involve the fundamental
explanation of politeness and politeness strategies that also function as the core
framework to the theory. The two linguists elaborately explained on the workings of
politeness as well as as how it functions in different social interactions.
Complementarily, the second aspect of the theory encompasses elaborate lists of
politeness strategies. Politeness in the broad sense of the word is defined through the
introduction of the term face . According to Kitamura (2000), she states that there are

According to Brown and Levinson (1987), either the speaker or hearer s face can
be threatened and can have an impact on either positive face or negative face. In
this case, the trait of this politeness strategy does not adhere to the face wants of the
addressee or speaker. There are two leading subcategories under face threatening act,
positive face threatening act and negative face threatening act. The positive face
threatening act is the denotation of appreciation or acceptance for another s wants
or feelings that can thus, impose damage to their face. The act of transgressing or
causing the loss of control over a situation toward someone indicates their positive
face being threatened such as apologise, humiliation, and holding guilt or
responsibility. On the contrary, any freedom to act or avoid from imposition is
obscured when it involves the negative face threatening act. FTAs can pose as an
insult or violation to a speaker s face when his negative face is under threat. As an
illustration, such FTAs include making insincere obligations to a promise or offer
made, offering gratitude, and accepting the hearer s excuses. In conclusion, the
significance of the politeness theory requires the effort of investigating into the ideas
involving politeness. Moreover, it also seeks for individuals to build a deeper
understanding concerning
49. Plato s The Crito Essay
Plato s The Crito
In life, people are guided by moral beliefs and principles. Whether their beliefs are
good or bad, their decisions are based on them. In Plato The Crito , Socrates
emphasizes his moral beliefs and principles when he decides not to escape from
prison. Although Socrates had the opportunity to escape his death sentence, he
chose not to do so because he had a moral obligation to commit a sacrifice. Socrates
was being guided by his moral beliefs when he decided not to escape from prison.

His statement clarifies his reasons for not escaping death. Therefore, Socrates was
not clearly right in escaping and would have violated his principles. Socrates did
not want to break any of his principles because he reasoned to think that his moral
beliefs were more important than his family. Socrates in his dialogue says, Think
not of life and children first, and of justice afterwards, but of justice first. (1). His
idea seems callous towards his personal relationships in life. However, Socrate s
friend, Crito, pursues him when he says, But you are choosing the easier part, as I=2
0think, not the better and manlier. (1). Socrates is given this statement by his friend
in order to pursue him to change his mind to escape. However, Socrates insists in
following good principles according to his wisdom. His friend was now just
understanding why Socrates decided to stay in prison rather than escaping his
wrongful death sentence.
Socrates motives for not escaping could also be understood by his principles. His
principle says, And a good life is equivalent to a just and honorable one. (1).
Socrates believes and lives by doing well to himself and other people. Even though
staying in prison would cause him physical damage, he is willing to sacrifice his
body in order to save his soul. Because of his belief in living an honorable life,
Socrates reasons to stay in prison rather than escaping.
50. Harold Godwinson Essay
True King of England
Harold Godwinson
Thomas Faulkner
Harold Godwinson, King of England reigned from 6 January 1066 until 14 October
when he died in the Battle of Hastings in the same year. He was fighting against the
Normans who were invading England and led by William the Conqueror. Harold
Godwinson, King of England died from an arrow that struck him in the eye. Harold
Godwinson succeeded and was chosen by Edward the Confessor. William the Duke
of Normandy and Harald Hardrada, King of Norway thought that they should have
succeeded Edward the Confessor instead of Harold Godwinson. Harold Godwinson
was the last Anglo Saxon King of England and therefore I believe the last true
Englishman to claim the throne.
There are three main reasons why I believe that Harold Godwinson was the final
true king of England. Firstly, Harold was powerful and ambitious. Secondly, he was
an excellent soldier who had the skills to lead England into battle against the
Norman invaders. Finally and most importantly he was the last Anglo Saxon to rule
England and therefore the last true king of England. He was chosen by the Witan
who were a council of 60 of the most powerful noblemen.

The Witan wanted an Anglo Saxon to rule England. Harold Godwinson did not want
the Normans in England and thought he had been tricked by William the
Conqueror. He had been forced to promise loyalty to William the Conqueror as
they had his nephew hostage and made him sign a sacred oath of allegiance.
William was holding his nephew hostage and said he would only be released if
Harold swore to be loyal to him and help William become King. This means that
William of Normandy was afraid that Harold Godwinson was going to win the Battle
of Hastings and not him which is quite ironic when you know who won the Battle of
51. Transition To Adulthood In The 1970 s
Despite lowering the age to vote and drink in the 1970 s, Australia continued the
practice of giving a key too 21 year olds on their birthday, symbolising their coming of
age , and with it, the underlying expectation of respect and the adherence of social
norms, just as how to act appropriately in public. Between the eighteenth and
twentieth centuries, the transition to adulthood was defined by, and adult identity
rooted in, the attainment of spousal status with the formation of a family to follow
(Kenyon Heath 2001b). Adulthood was steeped in the achievement of material
symbols; marriage, houses and children (McNamara Connell 2007). While it was

75% of my respondents that despite their desire to travel, even if they wanted to,
they wouldn t be able to afford to buy a home before they reached 30. After the
second World War, Australia was overwhelmed by policies that encouraged home
ownership and families as individual units (Sharman 1984). Since such a time
when housing was booming, home ownership, particularly in Sydney, has become
gradually unattainable (McNamara Connell 2007). Since the 1980 s the
percentage of young people aged 20 24 in Australia living in shared arrangements
doubled (Burke, Pinkey Ewing 2002), making apparent that other forms of
household were inaccessible. This, I believe, reflects escalated housing prices,
interest rates and land value. Furthermore, in 1980 26% of young people aged 20
24 in Australia lived alone, and by 2000, only 9.3% were living alone (Burke,
Pinkey Ewing 2002). Thus, despite Australia s economic geography, shared living
has since become an attractive and viable option for not only economically
constrained students but also young single professionals with the promise of
friendship and mutual support (economic or otherwise) (Clark Tuffin 2015). Half of
the participants had moved into a shared household with a person or people they had
met before, though 60% of the group hoped that they would make new
52. The Museum Of Natural History
Museums are information organizations, that is, they are about giving the most up to
date information to their patrons. No matter how well their organization,
commercially, is wrap it up that part of them remains the same. From the two
museums that I visited, the Henry Ford Museum and the Museum of Natural History,
are clearly about passing information to the patron. There are differences between
them, however, it is the equivalences that I want to focus on as they are what bind
them. The three areas of focus are community, academic outreach, and the stories they
share. Creating a strong and vibrant community is important to museums. Dr.
Ronquillo, a leader a Philippine Archeology museum, so elegantly wrote, A properly
planned community museum can express and elucidate the community s cultural
wealth through the appropriate presentation and exhibition of their important natural
and cultural heritage (Ronquillo, 1992). It is the community that keeps generation
after generation coming back to see the history that us humans, the earth, and beyond
have gone through. The journey of information, for most, begins as a child during
our time at school. For the Museum of Natural History, this is quite literal as the
museum is a part of the University of Michigan culture. They have the mascot, the
wolverine, College students are going in and out of there through the day. Most are
heading to class or doing work study, but a community is still present. But it is just

There are several different tactics for negotiating an offer on your home and they
will depend on whether you re in a buyer s market or a seller s market. Once you

If the buyer s contract includes contingencies this is where things can get a little
tricky. If the contract includes verbiage that asks for repairs, an inspection
contingency, or a contingency to sell their home prior to buying yours, there will
be several ways for you to proceed. If the buyer has to sell their home before closing

On this particular day a lot of kids were missing due to the weather so there were
nine kids in class eight girls and one boy between the ages of four and five. The 5
year old boy stood out the most to me the most due to the fact that he was the only
boy in a class full of girls. He was very talkative but, only towards the monitors; he
like holds hands with the monitors and when he is speaking or they are speaking
he gives them I eye contact which he did not do for anyone else. I think this may
be because he feels comfortable with them and he likes the attention that they give
him because he would get a huge smile his face when they praised him or said they
would play with him. He did not speak much to the other kids; he played play
dough at the same table as the other children but, he did not interact with them or
participate in the pretend play. He had short brown hair, slightly tanned skin and
was wearing jeans a red shirt and running shoes. After a little while he went off on
his own and looked at the books in the book section which was the only part of the
classroom in which no one else was there. He also played with a toy dinosaur on
his own he looked a little bored or unhappy because he was pacing around the class
room laying on the floor looking at the ceiling didn t play with anything for more
than 5 minutes. He was the only one who talked to me that day and he told me that
he could write music notes and that he could read them. This means to me that he
is a smart child because not many people could write and read music especially at a
young age. Another kid who stood out to me was a 5 year old Caucasian girl. She
had straight, light brown hair tied up into a ponytail; she had brown eyes and fair
skin. She was a petite girl shorter than a few of the girls and

Diego VelГzquez was called the noblest and most commanding man among the
artists of his country. He was a master realist, and no painter has surpassed him in
the ability to seize essential features and fix them on canvas with a few broad, sure
strokes. His men and women seem to breathe, it has been said; his horses are full of
action and his dogs of life. Because of VelГzquez great skill in merging color, light,
space, rhythmof line, and mass in such a way that all have equal value, he was known
as the painters painter, as demonstrated in the paintings Las Meninas, SebastiГ n de

The interlocking of these luminous areas is the more vivid as the middle distance
is cut off by the shadows which spread across the floor. The depth of the chamber is
stressed by the alternation of window jambs and picture frames on the right hand
wall, the stretcher of the large canvas on the left foreground, and the perspective
sequence of the empty lamp hooks on the ceiling, which mark as central the spot in
the rear wall where the King and the Queen are seen reflected in the mirror. In no
other painting has VelГzquez rendered space in so architectural a manner as in this,
the only work in which he has depicted a ceiling. Neither is there any other
composition of his that is so vividly keyed to the space lying out of the picture frame.
Recent studies of Las Meninas, inspired by the ideas of Michel Foucault, have paid
considerable attention to the seemingly novel relationship between the scene on the
canvas and the spectator. These ideas tacitly assume that the picture was meant to
be seen by the public at large, as if it were hanging in an important museum, as it is
today. (They also exaggerate the novelty of the way in which the spectator is
involved in the picture.) However, the original placement indicates that this is not the
case. In 1666, the year after the death of Philip IV, Las Meninas was

58. Babylonia Compare And Contrast
Two of the most advanced cities in the ancient times were Babylonia (also known
as Mesopotamia) and Egypt. China and India were both populated areas at the
time, but very little is known about how advanced they were in science and
mathematics. Both Babylonia and Egypt were more progressed in these studies,
thus most of the focus is on the two. Both cities demanded a large slave class for
the manual labor. Calendars were found in both cities, for knowing when and when
not to plant crops and such. However, Babylonia and Egypt were very different
cities. Egypt was a very advanced, yet secluded, city. The Nile River was not as
demanding as the Tigris and Euphrates, thus did not require such advanced
administrating efforts and engineering. Egypt
