Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing
Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing
Introduction:
The process of globalization is changing the way that companies large and small must conduct
business to survive. From external factors such as the international laws and widely varying domestic
tax policies to internal changes to personnel or process, free trade policies are altering operational
strategy, especially for small companies engaging in growth. One of the most determinant changes
brought on by free trade and its gradual permeation of the developing world is the appeal of global
outsourcing or off shoring for growing American businesses. Outsourcing is the practice by which
companies will employ agencies external to the company, and increasingly external even to the
primary country of operation, in order to attain specialty services at a fee per service basis. Also
important to the discussion, the concept of off shoring will find a company expanding into a new
international location by establishing a satellite base of operations within. Each strategy carries its
own unique set of challenges and advantages. Part of our task as a growing company verging on its
first venture of internationalization is to determine what balance of these strategies might best serve
our interests.
Factors in a Global Context:
There are many global factors to consider that have been emergent with the spread of globalization.
For a firm seeking an ideal context for establishing a new manufacturing center, cost is of course a

Who Is Colin Powell s Thirteen Rules
It Worked for Me in Life and Leadership , written by Colin Powell and Co authored by Tony Koltz in
2012, is an account of Powell s life experiences from childhood, to his role of leadership as Secretary
of State. He recalls his highs and lows, turning points, and even days he was ready to give it all up. He
addresses real world issues and circumstances that put our country in war. He goes on to talk about
leaders and the styles they possess, and what he liked and did not and then reflected upon his own
leadership style. He discusses how todays values develop climates and cultures in which we live and
work. One of these values is to instill trust in people and they will trust you in return. This concept
truly goes hand in hand with the leadership classes we had at the start of WOILE. I have taken away
much insight about a Colin Powell and his leadership styles. What follows are a few things that really
stood out to me. Thirteen Rules
In the book, Colin Powell references his thirteen rules . These rules were simply pieces of paper he

It is as important as leaders that we do everything in our power to ensure our soldiers are ready for the
event, whether it is a battle or competition. If we fail in preparation, we have failed our soldiers before
they even started. As a young Battalion Commander Powell met a soldier who had just come out of
the soldier of the month board. This soldier had been tasked with this competition only the night
before. After finding that out, Powell went to his Command Sergeant Major and First Sergeants and
told them, We will never do this again . Powell recognized that sending soldiers into battle or
competitions, even those who are highly capable, without preparation or training is a failure of

Dyad
Humans are naturally social beings. We have instinctual need to reach out to other individuals.
Sometimes this is the case when dealing with issues or feelings. As with differentiation of self, Bowen
s triangle concept has an emotional component with anxiety at the core (H. Goldenberg L.
Goldenberg, 2013). Differentiation of self has an individual concept that is then applied to a couple or
a family system. Where the concept of triangles differs is number of individuals involve. According to
this concept, relationships only exist with two or more individuals. With two individuals,
communication and stability may exist. The problem exists when anxiety or stress is introduced into
the dyad. Bowen believed that couples or two individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bowen concluded that undifferentiated dyads will produce unstable and highly emotional families that
then become the nuclear family emotional systems. The system s goal is to reduce the tension and gain
stability. Bowen and his colleague, Michael Kerr, hypothesized that there were three patterns in which
nuclear families dealt with intense emotional systems. The first pattern is spousal dysfunction where
one individual disproportionately takes on the anxiety rather than addressing the family conflict (H.
Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). The second pattern involves externalizes their personal anxieties
onto the martial relationship. Control is a central aspect within the second pattern of martial conflict.
Each individual of the original dyad tries to control one another and focus on the other s issues as an
outlet of dealing with family tensions. Bowen and Kerr s final pattern was a child s psychological
impairment. During this pattern, family or dyad tensions are ignored as one or both individuals focus
more attention to the child. The projection of focus and anxiety on the child perpetuates the parental
and couple tensions. Additionally, this focus lowers the child s differentiating level, increases negative
thoughts or feelings toward the child, and creates impairment of health, socialization, and school
performance. Bowenian theorist added emotional distance as a fourth and final pattern. Emotional
distance allows individuals to pull away from each other in order to decrease the intensity of the tense.
Emotional distance is the most common type of pattern found in all types of nuclear

Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs
Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this
project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought
that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith.
However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much
more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as
religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple
definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my own
definition of religious persecution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persecution of Christians because of their faith is a major problem in the United States. Sixty one

The Freedom Of Freedom
Imagine having the ability to be able to do whatever you please, however you please and whenever
you please. The ability to speak, travel, lead, rebel and countless other actions. This is the core
principle behind freedom. Everyone on Earth has the desire to be free. But what does it mean to truly
be free? Freedom by definition is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without
hindrance or restraint (Oxford English Dictionary). It s a concept that we have fought for since the
beginning of time, whether it be for ourselves, others or even animals. The U.S as a country, like many
other countries that is completely built upon the convention of freedom. It is so important to us that
freedom is one of the rights listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. After centuries or
even millennia of fighting for the basic right of freedom, a sizable portion of the population in first
world countries are proud to say that they re free. But are they really free? Is there a such thing as a
human who is actually free, let alone the average person. Even though we are not literally bound in
chains, there are still shackles that prevent all of us from truly being free.
Throughout the course of history freedom has been a controversial topic in society. There has always
been the question of who deserves freedom, what rights fall under freedom and what freedom is in the
first place. As a construct, freedom has been well ingrained into modern society and most people that

Catcher In The Rye Analysis
The Catcher in the Rye is a novel written by J.D. Salinger that occurs around the 1950s. The story s
protagonist and narrator is Holden Caulfield, a seventeen year old white male, who journeys to various
places as he mourns over the death of his little brother, Allie. As a white male in a capitalist society, he
has tremendous amounts of privileges that allow him to get. However, as the novel progresses, Holden
describes his society as a place where honored human qualities are suppressed and capitalist ideals are
embraced. Throughout the novel, we see that capitalism, the social system based on the recognition of
individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned , destroys the
overall society for Holden and his generation (Rand). We can see Holden s critiques of capitalism in
chapter 17, when he and Sally, a compelling young lady that Holden has known for quite a long time,
are at the ice skating rink and they discuss their views on school. Holden views school as a feeding
ground for empty headed students to consume the ideals of. Holden explains, You ought to go to a
boys school sometime...It s full of phonies, and all you do is study... to be smart enough to be able to
buy a goddam Cadillac (Salinger 131). In making this argument, Salinger urges us to see Holden s
negative perspective on capitalism. Holden believes that schools have a direct connection to
capitalism because the teachings associate education with

The Crime Rate Of Crime
The huge crime drop suggests that also smaller amount of people are taking part in crime or that
people who do take part are obliging crimeless often. On the other hand a civilisation s rate of crime is
not a meek combination of the number of crime prone entities with specific psychological or
biological features. The impression that crime is communal rather than individual is a conspicuous
melody in much of the finest new fangled research. The crime drop partially imitates the effort of
organisations that are unambiguously intended to escalate social control, but then again it as well
imitates variations in further institutions aimed to achieve diverse societal purposes. No debate of
current U.S. crime inclinations would be comprehensive without bearing in mind the U.S. prison
inhabitants. For the reason that imprisonment rose so quickly, it is alluring to point the lion s segment
of the crime drop to the debilitating effects of prison. Numerous criminologists have faith that prisons
are in fact criminogenic in the long run, firming up criminal ties and unsettling non criminal chances
when convicts are unconfined. Looking at a study of the influence of imprisonment on crime,
sociologist Bruce Western guesses that coarsely nine tenths of the crime drop all through the 1990s
would have happened without any variations in imprisonment, (Western, 2006). Economist Steven
Levitt notes up to one third of the total drop to imprisonment. Increasing numbers of incarceration as a

strongest character because he was a both brave and wise, and he always put others first. Rob Hall is

Henry Fleming Quotes
Henry Fleming (the youth) is the main character in the book Red Badge of Courage. Henry enlists in
the Union Army during the US Civil War at a very young age and fights alongside other Union
soldiers in his first battle. However when faced with an immediate second battle Henry decides to run
and desert his unit. Henry is so tramatized by the dead and wounded soldiers that he sees during his
first conflict that he cannot accept walking straight into his own death. So he runs away as fast as he
can to save himself.
Henry fights in his first battle: Henry began to have second thoughts about fighting in the war as his
battalion got closer to their first battle. He thought that he must break from the ranks and harangue his
comrades. 1.

Examples Of Race And Racism
Where is Race and Racism? Quite notably suitable for the first chapter analyzed by Dr. Merle A.
Jacobs. As an intro to the book, Race In Equity, Intersectionality, Social Determinants of Health and
Equity, this question is subsequently brought up, however, no one knows it s true origins. This course
Health and Equity, directed by Dr. Merle A. Jacobs gives a clear direction on how it possibly came to
be, and it is this: racism is socially constructed . It is a belief conjured up in today s society and has
been embedded throughout the origins of Canada. In this essay I seek to outline the underlining
problems of Canada and how race is socially constructed. It will seek to break down the major
minorities examined in this text, most notably the Indigenous People of Canada, Japanese Canadians
and the African Americans. It aims to highlight that the problems stem from the social determinants of
health: the physical environment, child development, and income and status. The essay will prove that
integration and segregation are the same word in a Canadian alienated world. Whereby, people are
taught to be Canadians by being separated by its norms and practices, it s culture and henceforth, the
people different will lose their cultural identity and will be forced into sharing the same beliefs as their
white counterparts. This essay will provide aids on how, and whereby, policies and laws need to be
rectified, in order to have a concrete solution and not a temporarily relief for problems manifesting in
today s society. Canada is well known to be rich in resources yet fails to equally distribute them. In
Canada it is well known to have one of the biggest bodies of fresh clean drinking water and fertile
land, rich in oil and gas, copper, and nickel, but why is it that so few have so little? According to the
Globe and Mail s research; [...] [they] found that one third of First Nations had systems that were at
medium or high risk of producing unsafe water, according to INAC s assessment criteria. (Feb 21,
2017) (Jacobs Ouedraogo, 2017, p. 39). Aboriginals or the Indigenous people of Canada are one of the
few minorities that were a testament to the unruly predecessor of Canadian Culture. Dating back to

Karl Marx Punishment
Punishment in the U.S In society, we punish those that deviate from our social norms. These norms are
usually things that society defines by things they feel are morally wrong. In this paper, we will
examine sex offenders that have the urge to commit a sexual crime against others and how they must
suffer the consequences that the law as intact for those crimes. Sex offenders in the United States are
punished harshly because we try to protect our citizens and try to isolate certain problems to avoid
more deviant behavior. Therefore, we isolate these individuals from society. Sex offenders have a hard
time re entering society, which cause them to sometimes led them to creating their own community

According to Foucault, modern society has moved to a more private punishment method. However, I
think the current U.S approach to dealing with sex offenders is trying to punish them privately, but
also make them a public display for society. In Pervert Park, the documentary show how individuals
that are now label and registry as sex offenders have to live in a community that is just confined to
them. Sex offenders are being punished by having to live under a certain system. For instance, the
maintenance man that is a sex offender and even though he as re enter society as a productive member
under the law he is still deviant, which means he must document all his locations. Therefore, they
community is set up like a panopticon because it s like their community is surrounded by a bunch of
guards who are either the citizens around them and the law. Sex offenders are under twenty four hour
surveillance it s like they are still in jail. However, I must agree with Foucault that since the law is so
power the community controls them because it s the only place they feel

Abelard and Aquinas Essay
Peter Abelard was a renowned dialectician from 1079 to 1142. He subjected theological doctrines to
logical analysis. In other words, he used rational argument to discover truth. Saint Thomas Aquinas,
was a believer in the power of reason, giving St. Augustine s theory an alternate approach. He taught
in Paris and Italy during the years 1225 to 1274. Both of these new age thinkers changed the way
Catholic followers viewed the natural world.
Peter Abelard was one of the new thinkers that applied scholasticism to his theological aspects.
According to the excerpt Scholastic thinkers assumed that some teachings of Christianity, which thy
accepted as true by faith, could also be demonstrated to be true by reason (238). Peter ... Show more

His greatest work was
Summa Theologica. In this work he attempted to merge faith with reason, and the works of Aristotle
with the scriptures. Historically, he is seen as an alternate approach to St. Augustine s view of the city
of man versus the city of God. Augustine and Aquinas shared the belief that the original sin was Adam
and Eve s venture through the garden of good and evil. On page 239, Aquinas held that both faith and
reason came from God, they were not in opposition to each other; properly understood, they supported
each other.. He did not want people to shun the idea of reason, he wanted the world to see that it was
not evil. Combining Christianity with Aristotelian knowledge, he shed light upon the difficulty to
distinguish common ground between the natural world and the supernatural world. The excerpt is
divided into two different sections, Whether, Besides the Philosophical Sciences, Any Further
Doctrine Is Required? and Whether God Exists?. In the second section he proves five ways God exists
by using Aristotle s technique in philosophy, they are motion, nature of efficient cause, possibility and
necessity, the graduation to be found in things, and the governance of the world. The way he words his
logic is extremely confusing. For example, Now it is not possible that the same thing should be at one
in actuality and potentiality in the same respect, but only in different respects. For what is actually hot

Imagery In A Christmas Memory
The imagery used in A Christmas Memory was very detailed and could be thought of very easily.
Every use of imagery was used very satisfactorily and caused the book to become very good overall.
The story is about two people, supposedly friends , go about during the holiday season and obtain the
ingredients for 30 fruitcakes. Though, how has imagery in the book caused the mood for the story?
The first use of imagery in the story was to describe the weather and atmosphere during the holiday
season. They used stuff such as A leafless and birdless winter morning to describe the winter like
atmosphere in the area they live at, which would show the sense of sight. There was also the saying, A

So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans By Jimmy...
In So Mexicans are Taking Jobs from Americans, Jimmy Santiago Baca defends Mexicans against the
opinion many Americans have about them filling in jobs they do not want such as hard working labor
in the fields. However, many Americans don t realize that these Mexican workers are usually paid less
than an American would be paid. In the beginning of the poem Baca addresses the American
stereotype of Mexicans taking jobs from Americans in a very sarcastic manner. He continues by
saying that Mexicans are not taking their jobs, and explains how Mexicans come to America to try to
make a living for their family, which they are not able to get in Mexico. The poem is full of

He uses different types of figurative language to portray the way that Americans talk about Mexicans.
Baca then continues the poem using personification by saying Even on TV, an asthmatic leader (12).
He is describing the leader then later says crawls turtle heavy, leaning on an assistant (13), talking
about possibly an older man, the leader s assistant , a nest of wrinkles on his face (14), this reassures
that it is in fact an older man speaking. The personification continues in his next lines, a tongue
paddles through flashing waves of lightbulbs, of cameraman, rasping (15 16). He says rasping... They
re taking our jobs away (16 17) implying that in fact Americans are talking and saying Mexicans are
taking jobs from them. Then in line 18 he describes how he has not been able to find those Mexicans
that are trying to take jobs from Americans. He says, I ve gone about trying to find them .
He continues to say, where the hell are these fighters (19), the ones he has not been able to find, and
then points the insincerity and irony of Americans that he finds instead. Baca describes American s as
hypocrites by saying, the rifles I hear sound in the night are white farmers shooting blacks and browns
(20 21). He states that it is not Mexicans who threaten Americans, it is them who are shooting and
killing their own people. It is whites killing blacks

How Does Realism And Idealism Affect Our International...
Amidst Political Idealism, Realism
The theories of realism and idealism are as old as politics, itself. There has always been one group
looking as things as they are, asking finite questions like how much will it cost, examining actions
over intentions and another group aiming for how things should be while asking is this morally right,
just or conscionable?. How does realism and idealism affect our international political landscape?
Although theory suggests that politicians operate from one camp or another, is it impossible to
navigate life supporting every initiative of one camp or another? One may in fact possess an idealistic
viewpoint or attitude overall but, cast a vote for a more realistic solution of a particular situation.
Evidence suggests that descriptors of realism and idealism are blurred lines, although it is in direct
conflict with the teachings of political science, which have not changed much since inception. ...one
cannot understand Hitler s Germany and Stalin s Soviet Union, the two most destructive states of the
twentieth century... Both regimes were driven by the desire to remake first their societies and then the
world. Neither took the state as the unit whose interests were to be served; no narrow self interest or
considerations of national security or even national gain could have led to such domestic slaughter and
dangerous expansions. Jervis, R. (1998). There are many examples of overlapping realism and
idealism. A group of realists and

Animal Testing And Its Impact On The Environment
Animal Testing
According to the Oxford dictionary, the feeling of suffering is described as the state of undergoing
pain, distress or hardship. But does that definition truly cover all of the grounds under which such
feeling can be experienced? Animal testing involves the use of nonhuman species to research a variety
of products for their positive and negative outcomes. This action is carried on for the benefit of
humanity without the consideration of the animals being involved. Such act features the use of
hazardous practices that harm innocent animals, leaving them psychologically and physically
traumatized. Still, the research is considered practical since it s the closest way scientists can get to
analyze a living body without harming humans. Historically, animals have been used within the
scientific community, and as a result began to press issues regarding what the society of today and its
future hold concerning what is ethical, how animal testing has a significant role on the environment,
and how domestic and foreign economics influence its continuation, modification or elimination in the
United States.
Historical and Political
Animal experimentation can be used to gain further understanding of the biology and anatomy of that
creature or even humans. The notion of animals being able to serve as a model for humans was
supported by Charles Darwin s evolutionary theory in 1859 (Hawkins). Even prior to this theory,
however, surgery on animals became popular in ancient

Don t get this letter wrong, he is able to complete the work assigned to him; at the shift level and with

Canoeing In Canad A Brief Textual Analysis
I know from experience the fear and terror that struck my eyes when canoeing down a lake in Canada.
A few years ago back in 2014 I went camping in Canada, but this is not just any sort of camping trip,
with a nice rustic log cabin fitted with WiFi to make your camping experience more pleasurable .
No,no,no, this was REAL camping. Miles and miles away from any sort of any human civilization
with no more supplies than what you bring on your back. This was a canoeing backpacking trip
meaning my family and I rented a few vessels (canoes) and brought all our supplies on our backs to be
carried and shipped the entirety of the trip. Did I mention that the distance of this trip was close to
seventy miles?
I first arrived in Canada excited to be put into pure nature and experience the first real camping trip.
But when I arrived at the outfitters who were driving us into forest I began to worry. We turned off the
main road onto a narrow dirt road barely marked as if it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At one point we decided to stop at a campsite for the night and set up camp. We drank most of the
water packed and we needed more to cook dinner so me and my dad had to take a canoe to the middle
of the lake to filter some more water (if we filtered the water on the shore our water filter would have
got clogged with a bunch of scum). It was a pretty windy day this day and normally I wouldn t think
too much of it, and I didn t. So we got to the middle of the lake and filtered the water that we had

Emotional Abuse Signs
When you hear the word abuse one might think of a man hitting his wife or girlfriend, a woman with
covered up bruises and physical marks. It is a subject that gets discussed more, something that is more
often shown on popular television shows and movies. But there is another type of abuse that does not
get shown or talked about as much. It is called emotional abuse and just because it does not show
physically in marks or bruises does not make it any less dangerous and damaging. The first step to
addressing this abuse is to understand the signs. You may be experiencing emotional abuse if your
partner calls you names, insults you or puts you down, prevents you from going to work or school,
makes you question your sanity, threatens you, blames ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another response why men may not report their abuse is that in one study, it was said that Male
domestic violence victims who come to law enforcement attention are more likely to be future
suspects for domestic violence than female victims (http://www.opdv.ny.gov/, 2016). Another
shocking fact was that subtle psychological abuse is more harmful than either over psychological
abuse or direct aggression (O Leary Mairuo, 2005). It is also suggested that those who are victims of
emotional abuse are more likely to suffer from long term damage to their mental health. Often times it
can take form in depression, post traumatic stress disorder, they may become suicidal, and can even
develop distrust for others (O Leary Mairuo, 2005). Another study also found that emotional abuse
was more common in younger people and is on the rise due to increase in women being in law
enforcement roles, women s empowerment through feminism and while the rates of men being victims
to this abuse is on the rise as previously stated, the rates of women being emotionally abused are
declining, so quite the opposite affect. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, 2013) which also helps makes

The Interlopers Analysis
Your entire life is made up of two things, your luck and your decisions.
While some may say the character s in the short stories The Necklace , The Rights To The Streets Of
Memphis , and The Interlopers are affected by their own luck. The characters always made their own
decisions. The characters were put at a metaphorical cross road , they caused the events leading up to
the outcome of their own fate, and each character had the right to make their own decisions.
Madame Loisel from The Necklace allowed for her greed to overthrow her which winded down into a
sense of irony when she loses a valuable necklace borrowed from a friend.

In conclusion, all of the characters in the stories The Necklace , The Rights To The Streets Of
Memphis , and The Interlopers all have decided their fate by their actions and decisions whether they

Saturation Point Lab
When ionic compounds are added to water dissociation can occur and the solid dissolves. But only a
certain amount of solid can be added to a volume of water before the solution becomes saturated and
no more solid will dissolve. This saturation point can be affected by a number of variables including
temperature.

ammonium chloride or potassium nitrate. A proposed method for conducting the experiment is

Looking at the thermometer or water level in the test tube at an angle could give you incorrect
readings or amounts of the water required for the experiment. Having dirty equipment (something in
the test tube that makes it look fuller that it is, could be interference of measurement process. Less
water in a test tube would thus make you think you have added less of the ammonium chloride to
achieve the result. The Incorrect setting up of an instrument (thermometer touching the sides of the
test tube) could also be an example of systematic error.
Identification of a random error and an explanation of how this affects the results.
Random errors are always present in a measurement. It could be caused by changes in the readings of
the thermometer of level of the amount of water in the test tube. Even differences between two
observers of the same reading of the same test tube or thermometer (parallax error) could give
different observed measurements. Random errors as seen in our two trials show up as different results
for the same repeated measurement. This could be reduced by comparing multiple measurements and
by averaging the multiple measurements.

Since air bags are a standardized component within the final product, the slightest defect can wind up
affecting millions of vehicles. As safety is Takata s motto they should have better quality systems in
place that would minimize the number of defective standardized products given the sheer volume
produced. Takata ought to have taken a more diligent approach to the defects and addressed the public
s safety concerns sooner than six years after a death occurred as a result of their product. Furthermore,
Takata cited driver safety as the reason for its controversial refusal to comply with federal regulators
who want a national recall of its airbags. I believe that Takata was not prepared for a full scale recall
so they decided to pursue a more hands off approach which was truly not in their best interest.
Because Takata prolonged the recall investigation, they were faced with several penalties, fines and
fees and as a result of their lack of effort to correct the problem, company shares have fallen and
Takata is reporting a net loss. There is also the potential for Takata to lose some of their customers;
however, it is important to note that Takata is only one of three companies producing air bags. Due to
the minimal choices automakers have for suppliers with regards to air bags, it reasons that Takata
might not be concerned with their position in the supply chain as the automakers would not favor a

Marfan Syndrome Pros And Cons
Marfan syndrome (MFS) is an autosomal dominant disease of the connective tissue, affecting mostly
the skeletal, ocular and cardiovascular systems, caused by mutations in the FBN1 gene. (Fernandes et
al 2016) It was first described just about 100 years ago and was one of the first conditions classified as
a heritable disorder of the connective tissue. MFS lies at one end of a phenotypic spectrum, with
people in the general population who have one or another of the features of MFS at the other end, and
those with a variety of other conditions in between. (Pyeritz 2000) One in four cases of MFS occur
through due to a random mutation the rest are inherited. (Lima et al 2010) Marfan syndrome affects
anywhere from 1 2/10,000 individuals and has a large amount of variation in its symptoms and
severity. The incredible variability of Marfan syndrome and the lack of identifiable phenotype
genotype correlations point to the occurrence of modifier genes. (Fernandes et al 2016) According to
Groth et al. the prevalence of MFS could increase because during their 38 year study they saw a clear
rise in prevalence. The age of diagnosis for MFS can range throughout an entire lifetime however the

Auditing And Auditing Essay
Introduction Employees today can see variation as an opportunity rather than a risk. Tim M. and
Timboon F., were the ones who observed that change is truly in the present business environment and
if done properly, it can aide the growth of business. When a person changes their job responsibilities,
they need to be aware of what can be considered a reasonable change in the latitude of their position
and what can constitute termination. Sensible changes are those that do not change the essential
position. Below are examples of the unfair and fair job changes: An administrative staff member who
is inquired to undertake lunch coverage of the reception duties or learn current system could be taken
to fall within the scope of an Office Assistant. Moving the same Office Assistant into a role which
contains basic of food and beverage service could constitute a redundancy situation. Implementing
changes to an employee s job description may have risks, occurring most often when the employee
claims the following: 1) Their position is redundant. 2) They have been efficiently and effectively
dismissed unfairly. They have been unfavorably treated because of a protected characteristic. Types of

Chronic Back Pain
Definition of the condition:
Chronic Pain is described as a long lasting pain that people experience beyond a normal healing time
(Hasenbring, Rusu Turk, 2012). This time is usually up to three or six months prior to an incident
(Hasenbring, Rusu Turk, 2012). Chronic back pain can include common diagnosis of muscle spasms,
back strain, or myofasical syndrome (Weiner Nordin, 2010). There are three different types of chronic
back pain; simple musculoskeletal back pain, spinal nerve root pain and serious spinal pathology
(Jackson Simpson, 2006). (Hasenbring, 2012)
Causes/ aetiology:

discs, muscles, ligaments, joints and neural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To investigate the signs of nerve root damage, the femoral stretch test and straight leg raise test is used
to diagnose spinal nerve root back pain (Jackson Simpson, 2006). These neurological tests help to
reveal whether there are sensory, motor or reflex abnormalities in the body (Jackson Simpson, 2006).
If there is a suspicion of serious spinal pathology, investigations need to be assigned to eliminate the
possibilities of infection, inflammation or tumours (Jackson Simpson, 2006).
Medical and other treatments:
The main goal for treating chronic back pain is to get rid of the pain (Weiner Nordin, 2010) and
increase physical and social functions of the body (Jackson Simpson, 2006). There are different ways
of treating chronic back pain, which includes medication, physical therapies, interventional treatment,
spinal cord stimulation, acupuncture or surgery, depending on the severity of pain that is experienced
(Jackson Simpson, 2006).
There is strong evidence to suggest that non steroidal, anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) help manage
back pain (Jackson Simpson, 2006). Opioids are also used to manage back pain (Jackson Simpson,
2006). The use of NSAIDs over a long period of time requires assessments of risks and benefits
(Jackson Simpson, 2006). It is important that

This is important due to the frequent changes in the retail market: trends and consumption patterns are
constantly changing, competitors are launching campaigns, new products are introduced, and so on.
Because of these external factors, it may happen that a change in assortment, pricing or promotion

Equality And Peaceful Protest For Women s Rights
Introduction:
In history, women have faced many obstacles and challenges in regards to equality and finding
respect. As time progresses, women were able to obtain rights such as voting rights, owning property,
education and et cetra. These rights would not be obtained without movements from individuals and
organizations that decided to take action on fighting on these issues. With these movements, women
have been able to advance themselves in their community, this allowed women to feel empowered and
determined to change the world. Even with society progressing to allow women to have the basic

However, even though the Women s March 2017 had the enormous turnout, it is evident that the
women s march failed to meet the components of contemporary feminism. Firstly, the Women s March
failed to meet intersectional feminism, as the march was largely based and focused on white feminism.
Even though the movement s main agenda was to include all women of diverse backgrounds, this
particular movement failed to meet those requirements as there were a lack of attendance of these
events and in order for this march to succeed in the future it is important that organizations affiliated
with women s movements bring awareness of women s issues. Secondly, it is clear that these
movements garnered the attentions of politicians including President Donald Trump, as this was the
main purpose. Even though Trump s response towards the protest was not the response women wanted

The Differences Between Stocks And Bonds
First Personal Assignment
Americans have a lot of options when it comes to where they put their money. Two of these options
are stocks and bonds. This paper will serve as a discussion on the topic of the advantages and the
disadvantages of both stocks and bonds. This discourse will attempt to compare the differences
between stocks and bonds, as well as incorporating various advantages and disadvantages to each
investment. Some of the basic differences between a stock and a bond include would be that stocks are
normally issues by a company or corporation. Bonds, however, can be issued by corporations and
companies or they can be issued by the government. Stocks can pose more of a risk because they pay
their investors dividends, which are not always guaranteed. The only way a bonds would not pay out
dividends to its investors is if the company or organization had to go bankrupt. Overall, there is more
safety in bonds than what one would receive with stocks.
Advantages of investing in stocks
One of the primary reasons why stock prices go up or down, is essentially, the profitability of the
company. LearninMarkets.com (2009) lists four advantages of investing in stocks. The first advantage
is compound interest. Compound interest is a miracle of the financial world. Compound interest, when

Entertainment In Brave New World
What do you think of when you hear the word entertainment? Do you ever wonder why it s the way it
is? Have you wondered what forces, ideas, and people have molded and shaped it over time? How
does entertainment affect culture and a society? These are questions that might have many different
answers of varying explanations and magnitudes. For centuries, people have looked to a multitude of
different things to do as a way to escape their normal lives and to have fun. So then came various
forms of entertainment. Although it may not seem so at first glance, taking a more critical look at the
similarities that our society shares with the Brave New World s society may yield some shocking
discoveries. Entertainment. What is it? The Oxford Dictionary defines entertainment as The action of
providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment. Huxley wrote Brave New World to prove
his thesis that leisure in society does not lead to increased culture. In our society, our culture, when
someone thinks of entertainment, they typically think of a movie, music, news, a book, magazines,

Brave New World in a sort of mental comatose or haze. But then I ask you, how different is our
society in this sense? First, let s look at initial exposure. On average, children between the ages 2 5
watch about 32 hours a week worth of television/media.(XXXX) that s 1,664 hours a year, about 69
days, or almost 10 weeks. That much exposure has massive impacts on the developing brain. From

How Did Plato Argue The Soul
In this brief segment of Plato s work he is trying to argue that the soul, rather than being one, actually
has different parts. He claims and tries to justify that the soul must have three different parts to it, each
responsible for creating different urges that a person has. On page 111 of Plato s Republic he
establishes that the same one thing will not experience opposites within the same one part of itself
over the same thing, at the same time. So, therefore if someone finds this occurring in the soul it can
be established that the soul is not one but instead made out of different parts. He then shows an
example of this occurring in the soul in order to argue the soul does indeed have parts. On pages 114
and 115 he says that someone can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The premise of the same thing will not undergo opposites within the same part of itself in regards to
the same thing at the exact same time, so therefore when the soul gives you two opposite urges (e.g.
thirsty but you don t want to get a drink) it proves that the soul must have different parts, is a premise
that I do indeed agree with. I believe what Plato is saying here as I do not think the same part of one s
soul can be responsible for making someone have two completely opposite urges. I also agree with the
premise that there is a third part to the soul, the spirit. At first I questioned it thinking that this was
indeed one in the same with the rational but then the good point is made that small children are clearly
full with spirit yet are not rational so therefore they cannot be one in the same. This argument sold me
on the third part of the soul. The one argument I couldn t get on board with was when Plato wrote that
thirst is just for drink, and not one of a specific kind. I think that personally one can be craving a
specific type of drink, regardless of environment, (e.g. orange juice) and their thirst will not be
quenched by any drink but by only the drink they are craving. Plato makes it seem that one cannot
urge a specific drink but only drink in general. Although I do disagree with that specific part, in the
end the overall argument was

Essay on Women in Iliad, Odyssey, and the Bible
Role of Women in Iliad, Odyssey, and the Bible
Much is known of men in ancient civilizations, from the famous philosophers and mathematicians of
Greece to the patriarchs and subsequent kings of the nation of Israel. It would seem, however, that
history has forgotten the women of these times. What of the famous female thinkers of Ancient
Greece, the distinguished stateswomen of Rome? What power did they hold? What was their position
in societies of the distant past? A glimpse into the roles and influence of women in antiquity can be
discovered in such ancient masterpieces as the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Hebrew Bible.
In the Iliad, women are barely mentioned, and then only as spoils of war or treacherous creatures not
worthy of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The myth of how the war between the Greeks and the Trojans began, itself, shows women, in this case
goddesses, in an unflattering light, fighting like vain beauty queens over which one is more beautiful.
In fact, the very character of these three goddesses is at the least reprehensible and mirrors the
conception of many ancient, male driven societies of women being fickle, disloyal temptresses. Hera
is the paranoid, jealous wife who viciously strikes out at her husband s lovers, Aphrodite is a kind of
divine harlot, and Athena, although the most admirable of the group, nevertheless gives in to petty
emotions and is an odd choice to be guardian of wisdom, since no women were allowed in the
academies or thought of by men as being particularly wise. Thetis intentions are the exception to the
trivial designs of her immortal counterparts, for she is always the devoted mother of Achilles, trying to
do what is best for her son. Athena may give aid to the Greek cause, but only because she was not
picked by Paris as the most fair. The only mortal woman in the Iliad who seems to have any
redeeming qualities, and to whom we are not introduced for any real amount of time, in contrast to
Hecuba, is Andromache, who makes a brief, yet lasting appearance as Hector s wife. For the most
part, however, women in the Iliad are placed decidedly in the background, at best shown as
accessories to their male spouses.

Similarities And Differences Between Ancient Greens And...
In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first
mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has social levels and classes, a
governmental system, and a developed culture. Both of these societies fit into these parameters. In this
essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to
these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking
people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and
queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then
the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war.
(Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh
came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief
advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, and made local laws. Priests followed, and were
responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were
the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage of boys
from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at the age of five. Soldiers came next,
and were responsible for the defense of the country. Craftsmen were workers who were

reported the same incident. Using these three reports, I shall compare the variations and similarities in
the amount of factual information given, the interviews used, the language employed and finally, the
layout and presentation of the various articles.
On the 3rd of February 1998, a U.S. military jet sliced the wire of a cable car in the Italian ski resort in
the Dolomites in Cavalese. This resulted in the untimely death of 20 tourists ... Show more content on

The tone is much more factual and is not as colloquial as popular press. The sentences are usually
quite complex; hence the paragraphs are quite lengthy. The graphics are usually informative rather
than biased or seeking attention. Moreover, in The Times, the sound effects would usually be limited
to puns. Foreign publications, such as Newsweek, generally contain features of both popular press and
quality press.
The Mirror contained quite a lot of factual information. The article informed the readership that 20
skiers plunged 300ft to their deaths after a low flying American warplane sliced through the wire of
their cable car. Similarly, The Times and Newsweek also provided this information. The article in The
Times stated Twenty people fell three hundred feet to their death when an American military aircraft
sliced the steel wire supporting a cable car carrying skiers. Like the other two articles, the article in
Newsweek established that a U.S. fighter jet had clipped two cable cars and sent a gondola full of
skiers tumbling to the ground. All three articles also confirmed that there were twenty victims. The
Mirror and Newsweek gave more detail about this aspect. The Mirror stated that the victims were nine
women, 10 men and one child. Newsweek also stated that the tourists originated from seven European
countries.

Robert Trotman s Life Story
There he was, standing in the middle of a blazing fire. This was no ordinary fire, it was a deadly. The
alarms sounded loudly, puffing the man continued running. His head started to pound, beads of sweat
ran down his cheek. He dared not stop for he probably only had a five minute start ahead of the guards
who chased him and the other escapers. Will he be the first man to escape, will he even escape... 11
months before. Robert Trotman: 5 7 , born on May 24, 1976, 39 years old. All written on his time
recorder card, which tracks if you come to work on time, he slowly put it into the machine. He was an
accountant s assistant and surprisingly gets a pretty good pay. Everything in his life was in the middle;
he had a nice wife, nice children, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ve gone crazy behind these bars! Robert growled to his very creepy friend in the cell with him. His
name is Gus. From what I know, we should be able to kick these doors down at ease Robert squeaked
with excitement. Fire, we need fire! Robert said as Gus handed him a box of matches. Robert made a
face that showed confusion, Everyone was able to sneak at least one box of matches in . He then
continued, he lit the bar door on fire he then kicked it open with his leg and begin to run. Why are you
running? Please walk to cell 68C, it will take a few minutes to get rid of this fire. The guard said. Out
of nowhere all the criminals lit their doors on fire, kicked it down and made a run for it. The run was
very long from the cells to the exits, Robert lost his breath midway. He couldn t breathe, his calves
burned, his heels killing him, negative thoughts filled his head Will I make it? Should I just stop? Is
anyone dead now? Some of the guards were chasing the criminals, some were getting help. He made it
to the exit, safe. He couldn t believe it He stopped, looked over his shoulder and stood there while all
the criminals were escaping. In front of him there were firefighters, one firefighter dropped her
equipment on the floor and ran. He took the firefighter gear and grabbed a hose from the other
firefighter. Merely minutes later the fire was gone with the guilt, luckily only 3 injuries. He saw the
guards, turned his back towards the guard and put his

This Is What It Means To Say Phoenix Arizona Analysis
In Sherman Alexie s short story, This Is What It Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona we follow Victor and
Thomas along to their journey of change and revelation. Shortly after being laid off his job, Victor
gets the fatal news that his father, has died. Since Victor had been abandoned by his father at a young
age his character is negative, frustrated, angry, and confused. Having found out both things within the
same week made his outlook on life very pessimistic. Thomas, on the other hand, is the storyteller on
the reservation that nobody wants to listen to. He is lonely, positive, but has lived a sad life. After their
journey together, Victor finds out more about his dad s lifestyle and personality and builds a bond with
Thomas that would have never happened without the journey to Arizona. He goes from being
confused and angry, to happy and at peace with himself and his father. Thomas also experiences the
same emotions by the end of the journey. While they technically are not friends towards the end of the
story, they will be forever bonded by this journey and he helped his friendship with Victor get a little
deeper. Thanks to Thomas, Victor changes his perception of his dad and while doing so, helped
himself get close to someone from back at home. Author Sherman Alexie uses the journey to Arizona
to reveal and demonstrate change and the protagonist s lifestyle. While Victor lives a torn and
confused life because of his father s absence, his outlook on his father changes

What Is Okonkwo s Role In Igbo Society
Since the civilization of the African continent the natives were seen as uncivilized and wild. Achebe
throughout Things Fall Apart works to counter these very stereotypes. Set in an Ibo village in Nigeria
during the start of European civilization, the book focuses on the main character Okonkwo and his
prideful life to give insight on the true nature of Ibo culture. Achebe uses the abstract concept of the
patriarchal society and importance of conversation to humanize the Ibo people. Seen in the interaction
between Okonkwo and his wives, this matter illustrates the influential role of the patriarch in Ibo
society. Speaking of his role in society Okonkwo gives the advice that, if [a man] was unable to rule
his women...he was not really a man (Achebe 53). Based off of Okonkwo s advice we know the men
in Ibo society hold the power over their families and if they can not control their family that they are
not really a man. Okonkwo demonstrates the power he holds over his wife and children many times,
often going too far. For instance, during the Week of Peace Okonkwo beats his wife Ojiugo when she
went out to a friend s house without notice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Achebe explains that, the art of conversation is regarded very highly, (Achebe 7) among the Ibo.
Because the Ibo people care for how their conversations are carried out, one would guess that they are
educated and knowledgeable enough to be able to do so. In some ways one might consider them to be
able to have even more intricate conversations then we do today. When the Europeans arrive in
Umuofia they do not quite understand the Ibo people. The District Commissioner even complains of,
[the Ibo people s] love of superfluous words (Achebe 204). The words that Ibo people use in
conversation is even baffling to the Europeans. This can make one say that in some ways the Ibo
people are more advanced than the

Integrity In Sir Thomas More s A Man For All Seasons
In A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More, the plot s protagonist, displays a reoccurring theme of
integrity. According to Webster s Dictionary, integrity is the adherence to moral and ethical principles;
and soundness of moral character. Dedicated to not losing himself by consenting to the King s divorce,
Thomas More continually shows the adherence to his morality rather than the wishes of those around
him. Even though this historic drama ultimately ends in the beheading of Sir Thomas More, his
integrity shows his devotion towards himself, his piety towards his country, and his self respect that
contrasts with the other characters.
The theme of integrity is portrayed through More s devotion to himself. The author, Robert Bolt,
describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Richard s god is Cromwell because Cromwell is the one who forms his identity. Rich s
selfishness shows his undeveloped morals because he hangs loosely off of friends, like Cromwell,
morphing into any character Cromwell would like so that he will not be off of payroll. Richard s
morals are distinguished by his way to form into whatever character a position holds, which contrasts
with More s morals because More will not be anything except himself. Rich s selfishness in pleasing
his own self reflects the morals that he has because he has a desire to have power, popularity, and
recognition from society.. A man with an adamantine sense of his own self . . . could yield to the
encroachments of his enemies . . . a clever man and a great lawyer. . . [a] supple, humorous,
unassuming and sophisticated person set like metal, was overtaken by an absolutely primitive rigor,
and could no more be budged than a cliff, are many ways that Robert Bolt spoke of Thomas More in
the preface, and it can only suggest that Richard Rich is ultimately the opposite of More. (Bolt, xii)
Also in the preface, Robert Bolt writes, if anything, then nothing. (Bolt, xi) He gives this as a warning
because if you are everything, such as Rich was, then you are nothing because there is nothing special
about you. Additionally, More says that he

Child X Strengths
As previously mentioned, there are some strengths and weaknesses that child X exhibits. In terms of
strengths, he is incredibly talented when it comes to the arts. Child X has been in quite a few plays
during our time together at camp. This included having lead roles in Mama Mia, Greece, Little Shop
of Horrors, and much more. During these plays, he memorized his lines and dance moves better than
most of the kids, and preformed with a smile on his face. As well, he is very talented when it comes to
visual arts. He is a great artist, can follow instructions well, and always put 110% into the art pieces he
makes. Child X is also very compassionate, and interacts well with the farm animals. The farm staff
love when he visits, as they know they have a good helper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He will get frustrated, upset, and start to physically hurt himself and others. Child X struggles when it
comes to athletics. Although in his mind he wants to participate and do well in sports, his motor skills
are not that strong. He struggles when it comes to running, kicking soccer balls, throwing basketballs,
and more. Once he gets frustrated playing these sports, it takes quite some time to get him back into a
positive mindset. Interesting enough though, child X is a fantastic swimmer. Child X also struggles
when it comes to making friends. He gets anxious around other campers, and it takes some time for
him to get comfortable with his peers. He would often rely on spending the day with me, however our
main goal was to integrate him with the cabin, and due to his social anxiety, this became an issue.
Finally, the hardest aspect of child X s personality is that he is aware that he is different. One day,
child X said to me: I hate G D . I proceeding to ask him why, and he stated: because he gave me
autism. It broke my heart to know that child X was aware that this exceptionality was negatively
impacting his

Honor, respect that is given to someone who is admired. To me, honor means respecting someone for

The Border Between Mexico And United States Essay
Introduction The United States has led the fight against criminal activities from Mexican borders for
many years. Criminal activities along the United States and Mexican border range from drug
trafficking, human smuggling and an economy that disruptive. These are illegal activities scholars
have argued could lead to the failure of Mexico as a country and the spread of violence to the United
States. The illegal activities are not only a threat to the economy of Mexico and United States but also
to the rest of the world due the impacts associated. The border between Mexico and US is of essential
significance because it provides the link between the two countries. The border provides passageways
through which either country can access the other via land or air means. Although the border is of
significance to both countries, smuggling of drugs and trafficking human are main causes of violence
between the countries. Drug cartels in Mexico smuggle drugs into the United States and this drives a
war between them and the US government. The economy and the peace between Mexico and US is
also affected significantly due to the illegal activities. To minimize the violence caused by these illegal
activities, the US government need to act against the activities. The United States needs to increase the
economic aid and military intervention to Mexico to fight the drug cartels, otherwise it could become
a failed state; spreading more violence across the US border. According to Basmajian,

  • 2. Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing Introduction: The process of globalization is changing the way that companies large and small must conduct business to survive. From external factors such as the international laws and widely varying domestic tax policies to internal changes to personnel or process, free trade policies are altering operational strategy, especially for small companies engaging in growth. One of the most determinant changes brought on by free trade and its gradual permeation of the developing world is the appeal of global outsourcing or off shoring for growing American businesses. Outsourcing is the practice by which companies will employ agencies external to the company, and increasingly external even to the primary country of operation, in order to attain specialty services at a fee per service basis. Also important to the discussion, the concept of off shoring will find a company expanding into a new international location by establishing a satellite base of operations within. Each strategy carries its own unique set of challenges and advantages. Part of our task as a growing company verging on its first venture of internationalization is to determine what balance of these strategies might best serve our interests. Factors in a Global Context: There are many global factors to consider that have been emergent with the spread of globalization. For a firm seeking an ideal context for establishing a new manufacturing center, cost is of course a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Who Is Colin Powell s Thirteen Rules It Worked for Me in Life and Leadership , written by Colin Powell and Co authored by Tony Koltz in 2012, is an account of Powell s life experiences from childhood, to his role of leadership as Secretary of State. He recalls his highs and lows, turning points, and even days he was ready to give it all up. He addresses real world issues and circumstances that put our country in war. He goes on to talk about leaders and the styles they possess, and what he liked and did not and then reflected upon his own leadership style. He discusses how todays values develop climates and cultures in which we live and work. One of these values is to instill trust in people and they will trust you in return. This concept truly goes hand in hand with the leadership classes we had at the start of WOILE. I have taken away much insight about a Colin Powell and his leadership styles. • 4. Dyad Humans are naturally social beings. We have instinctual need to reach out to other individuals. Sometimes this is the case when dealing with issues or feelings. As with differentiation of self, Bowen s triangle concept has an emotional component with anxiety at the core (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). Differentiation of self has an individual concept that is then applied to a couple or a family system. Where the concept of triangles differs is number of individuals involve. According to this concept, relationships only exist with two or more individuals. With two individuals, communication and stability may exist. The problem exists when anxiety or stress is introduced into the dyad. Bowen believed that couples or two individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bowen concluded that undifferentiated dyads will produce unstable and highly emotional families that then become the nuclear family emotional systems. The system s goal is to reduce the tension and gain stability. Bowen and his colleague, Michael Kerr, hypothesized that there were three patterns in which nuclear families dealt with intense emotional systems. The first pattern is spousal dysfunction where one individual disproportionately takes on the anxiety rather than addressing the family conflict (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). The second pattern involves externalizes their personal anxieties onto the martial relationship. Control is a central aspect within the second pattern of martial conflict. Each individual of the original dyad tries to control one another and focus on the other s issues as an outlet of dealing with family tensions. Bowen and Kerr s final pattern was a child s psychological impairment. During this pattern, family or dyad tensions are ignored as one or both individuals focus more attention to the child. The projection of focus and anxiety on the child perpetuates the parental and couple tensions. Additionally, this focus lowers the child s differentiating level, increases negative thoughts or feelings toward the child, and creates impairment of health, socialization, and school performance. Bowenian theorist added emotional distance as a fourth and final pattern. Emotional distance allows individuals to pull away from each other in order to decrease the intensity of the tense. Emotional distance is the most common type of pattern found in all types of nuclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith. However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my own definition of religious persecution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sixty one percent of all pastors agreed with this statement, although just 16% agreed strongly, while the rest agreed somewhat with the statement. • 6. The Freedom Of Freedom Imagine having the ability to be able to do whatever you please, however you please and whenever you please. The ability to speak, travel, lead, rebel and countless other actions. This is the core principle behind freedom. Everyone on Earth has the desire to be free. But what does it mean to truly be free? Freedom by definition is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint (Oxford English Dictionary). It s a concept that we have fought for since the beginning of time, whether it be for ourselves, others or even animals. The U.S as a country, like many other countries that is completely built upon the convention of freedom. It is so important to us that freedom is one of the rights listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. After centuries or even millennia of fighting for the basic right of freedom, a sizable portion of the population in first world countries are proud to say that they re free. But are they really free? Is there a such thing as a human who is actually free, let alone the average person. Even though we are not literally bound in chains, there are still shackles that prevent all of us from truly being free. Throughout the course of history freedom has been a controversial topic in society. There has always been the question of who deserves freedom, what rights fall under freedom and what freedom is in the first place. As a construct, freedom has been well ingrained into modern society and most people that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story s protagonist and narrator is Holden Caulfield, a seventeen year old white male, who journeys to various places as he mourns over the death of his little brother, Allie. As a white male in a capitalist society, he has tremendous amounts of privileges that allow him to get. However, as the novel progresses, Holden describes his society as a place where honored human qualities are suppressed and capitalist ideals are embraced. Throughout the novel, we see that capitalism, the social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned , destroys the overall society for Holden and his generation (Rand). We can see Holden s critiques of capitalism in chapter 17, when he and Sally, a compelling young lady that Holden has known for quite a long time, are at the ice skating rink and they discuss their views on school. Holden views school as a feeding ground for empty headed students to consume the ideals of. Holden explains, You ought to go to a boys school sometime...It s full of phonies, and all you do is study... to be smart enough to be able to buy a goddam Cadillac (Salinger 131). On the other hand a civilisation s rate of crime is not a meek combination of the number of crime prone entities with specific psychological or biological features. The impression that crime is communal rather than individual is a conspicuous melody in much of the finest new fangled research. The crime drop partially imitates the effort of organisations that are unambiguously intended to escalate social control, but then again it as well imitates variations in further institutions aimed to achieve diverse societal purposes. No debate of current U.S. crime inclinations would be comprehensive without bearing in mind the U.S. prison inhabitants. For the reason that imprisonment rose so quickly, it is alluring to point the lion s segment of the crime drop to the debilitating effects of prison. Numerous criminologists have faith that prisons are in fact criminogenic in the long run, firming up criminal ties and unsettling non criminal chances when convicts are unconfined. Looking at a study of the influence of imprisonment on crime, sociologist Bruce Western guesses that coarsely nine tenths of the crime drop all through the 1990s would have happened without any variations in imprisonment, (Western, 2006). • 11. Examples Of Race And Racism Where is Race and Racism? Quite notably suitable for the first chapter analyzed by Dr. Merle A. Jacobs. As an intro to the book, Race In Equity, Intersectionality, Social Determinants of Health and Equity, this question is subsequently brought up, however, no one knows it s true origins. This course Health and Equity, directed by Dr. Merle A. Jacobs gives a clear direction on how it possibly came to be, and it is this: racism is socially constructed . It is a belief conjured up in today s society and has been embedded throughout the origins of Canada. In this essay I seek to outline the underlining problems of Canada and how race is socially constructed. It will seek to break down the major minorities examined in this text, most notably the Indigenous People of Canada, Japanese Canadians and the African Americans. It aims to highlight that the problems stem from the social determinants of health: the physical environment, child development, and income and status. The essay will prove that integration and segregation are the same word in a Canadian alienated world. Whereby, people are taught to be Canadians by being separated by its norms and practices, it s culture and henceforth, the people different will lose their cultural identity and will be forced into sharing the same beliefs as their white counterparts. This essay will provide aids on how, and whereby, policies and laws need to be rectified, in order to have a concrete solution and not a temporarily relief for problems manifesting in today s society. Canada is well known to be rich in resources yet fails to equally distribute them. In Canada it is well known to have one of the biggest bodies of fresh clean drinking water and fertile land, rich in oil and gas, copper, and nickel, but why is it that so few have so little? According to the Globe and Mail s research; [...] [they] found that one third of First Nations had systems that were at medium or high risk of producing unsafe water, according to INAC s assessment criteria. • 13. Abelard and Aquinas Essay Peter Abelard was a renowned dialectician from 1079 to 1142. He subjected theological doctrines to logical analysis. In other words, he used rational argument to discover truth. Saint Thomas Aquinas, was a believer in the power of reason, giving St. Augustine s theory an alternate approach. He taught in Paris and Italy during the years 1225 to 1274. Both of these new age thinkers changed the way Catholic followers viewed the natural world. Peter Abelard was one of the new thinkers that applied scholasticism to his theological aspects. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His greatest work was Summa Theologica. In this work he attempted to merge faith with reason, and the works of Aristotle with the scriptures. Historically, he is seen as an alternate approach to St. Augustine s view of the city of man versus the city of God. Augustine and Aquinas shared the belief that the original sin was Adam and Eve s venture through the garden of good and evil. On page 239, Aquinas held that both faith and reason came from God, they were not in opposition to each other; properly understood, they supported each other.. He did not want people to shun the idea of reason, he wanted the world to see that it was not evil. Combining Christianity with Aristotelian knowledge, he shed light upon the difficulty to distinguish common ground between the natural world and the supernatural world. The excerpt is divided into two different sections, Whether, Besides the Philosophical Sciences, Any Further Doctrine Is Required? and Whether God Exists?. In the second section he proves five ways God exists by using Aristotle s technique in philosophy, they are motion, nature of efficient cause, possibility and necessity, the graduation to be found in things, and the governance of the world. How does realism and idealism affect our international political landscape? Although theory suggests that politicians operate from one camp or another, is it impossible to navigate life supporting every initiative of one camp or another? • 19. Animal Testing And Its Impact On The Environment Animal Testing According to the Oxford dictionary, the feeling of suffering is described as the state of undergoing pain, distress or hardship. But does that definition truly cover all of the grounds under which such feeling can be experienced? Animal testing involves the use of nonhuman species to research a variety of products for their positive and negative outcomes. This action is carried on for the benefit of humanity without the consideration of the animals being involved. Such act features the use of hazardous practices that harm innocent animals, leaving them psychologically and physically traumatized. Still, the research is considered practical since it s the closest way scientists can get to analyze a living body without harming humans. Historically, animals have been used within the scientific community, and as a result began to press issues regarding what the society of today and its future hold concerning what is ethical, how animal testing has a significant role on the environment, and how domestic and foreign economics influence its continuation, modification or elimination in the United States. Historical and Political Animal experimentation can be used to gain further understanding of the biology and anatomy of that creature or even humans. The notion of animals being able to serve as a model for humans was supported by Charles Darwin s evolutionary theory in 1859 (Hawkins). A few years ago back in 2014 I went camping in Canada, but this is not just any sort of camping trip, with a nice rustic log cabin fitted with WiFi to make your camping experience more pleasurable . No,no,no, this was REAL camping. Miles and miles away from any sort of any human civilization with no more supplies than what you bring on your back. This was a canoeing backpacking trip meaning my family and I rented a few vessels (canoes) and brought all our supplies on our backs to be carried and shipped the entirety of the trip. Did I mention that the distance of this trip was close to seventy miles? I first arrived in Canada excited to be put into pure nature and experience the first real camping trip. It was a pretty windy day this day and normally I wouldn t think too much of it, and I didn t. So we got to the middle of the lake and filtered the water that we had needed and were going to row back and we had started to paddle back, or we at least tried. Little did I know what such mild winds can do to affect the current of the water. We rowed as hard and as fast as we would yet were barely moving, the thought of being blown away was not a happy thought. I dug down deep and gave the rowing everything I had. It is a subject that gets discussed more, something that is more often shown on popular television shows and movies. But there is another type of abuse that does not get shown or talked about as much. It is called emotional abuse and just because it does not show physically in marks or bruises does not make it any less dangerous and damaging. Another shocking fact was that subtle psychological abuse is more harmful than either over psychological abuse or direct aggression (O Leary Mairuo, 2005). It is also suggested that those who are victims of emotional abuse are more likely to suffer from long term damage to their mental health. Often times it can take form in depression, post traumatic stress disorder, they may become suicidal, and can even develop distrust for others (O Leary Mairuo, 2005). • 37. How Did Plato Argue The Soul In this brief segment of Plato s work he is trying to argue that the soul, rather than being one, actually has different parts. He claims and tries to justify that the soul must have three different parts to it, each responsible for creating different urges that a person has. On page 111 of Plato s Republic he establishes that the same one thing will not experience opposites within the same one part of itself over the same thing, at the same time. So, therefore if someone finds this occurring in the soul it can be established that the soul is not one but instead made out of different parts. He then shows an example of this occurring in the soul in order to argue the soul does indeed have parts. On pages 114 and 115 he says that someone can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The premise of the same thing will not undergo opposites within the same part of itself in regards to the same thing at the exact same time, so therefore when the soul gives you two opposite urges (e.g. thirsty but you don t want to get a drink) it proves that the soul must have different parts, is a premise that I do indeed agree with. I believe what Plato is saying here as I do not think the same part of one s soul can be responsible for making someone have two completely opposite urges. I also agree with the premise that there is a third part to the soul, the spirit. At first I questioned it thinking that this was indeed one in the same with the rational but then the good point is made that small children are clearly full with spirit yet are not rational so therefore they cannot be one in the same. This argument sold me on the third part of the soul. The one argument I couldn t get on board with was when Plato wrote that thirst is just for drink, and not one of a specific kind. I think that personally one can be craving a specific type of drink, regardless of environment, (e.g. orange juice) and their thirst will not be quenched by any drink but by only the drink they are craving. Plato makes it seem that one cannot urge a specific drink but only drink in general. Although I do disagree with that specific part, in the end the overall argument was ... • 38. Essay on Women in Iliad, Odyssey, and the Bible Role of Women in Iliad, Odyssey, and the Bible Much is known of men in ancient civilizations, from the famous philosophers and mathematicians of Greece to the patriarchs and subsequent kings of the nation of Israel. It would seem, however, that history has forgotten the women of these times. What of the famous female thinkers of Ancient Greece, the distinguished stateswomen of Rome? What power did they hold? What was their position in societies of the distant past? A glimpse into the roles and influence of women in antiquity can be discovered in such ancient masterpieces as the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Hebrew Bible. In the Iliad, women are barely mentioned, and then only as spoils of war or treacherous creatures not worthy of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The myth of how the war between the Greeks and the Trojans began, itself, shows women, in this case goddesses, in an unflattering light, fighting like vain beauty queens over which one is more beautiful. In fact, the very character of these three goddesses is at the least reprehensible and mirrors the conception of many ancient, male driven societies of women being fickle, disloyal temptresses. Hera is the paranoid, jealous wife who viciously strikes out at her husband s lovers, Aphrodite is a kind of divine harlot, and Athena, although the most admirable of the group, nevertheless gives in to petty emotions and is an odd choice to be guardian of wisdom, since no women were allowed in the academies or thought of by men as being particularly wise. Thetis intentions are the exception to the trivial designs of her immortal counterparts, for she is always the devoted mother of Achilles, trying to do what is best for her son. Athena may give aid to the Greek cause, but only because she was not picked by Paris as the most fair. The only mortal woman in the Iliad who seems to have any redeeming qualities, and to whom we are not introduced for any real amount of time, in contrast to Hecuba, is Andromache, who makes a brief, yet lasting appearance as Hector s wife. For the most part, however, women in the Iliad are placed decidedly in the background, at best shown as accessories to their male spouses. Expanding on the Iliad, the Odyssey ... • 39. Similarities And Differences Between Ancient Greens And... In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has social levels and classes, a governmental system, and a developed culture. Both of these societies fit into these parameters. In this essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, and made local laws. Priests followed, and were responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage of boys from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at the age of five. Soldiers came next, and were responsible for the defense of the country. Using these three reports, I shall compare the variations and similarities in the amount of factual information given, the interviews used, the language employed and finally, the layout and presentation of the various articles. Foreign publications, such as Newsweek, generally contain features of both popular press and quality press. The Mirror contained quite a lot of factual information. The article informed the readership that 20 skiers plunged 300ft to their deaths after a low flying American warplane sliced through the wire of their cable car. Similarly, The Times and Newsweek also provided this information. The article in The Times stated Twenty people fell three hundred feet to their death when an American military aircraft sliced the steel wire supporting a cable car carrying skiers. Like the other two articles, the article in Newsweek established that a U.S. fighter jet had clipped two cable cars and sent a gondola full of skiers tumbling to the ground. All three articles also confirmed that there were twenty victims. The Mirror and Newsweek gave more detail about this aspect. The Mirror stated that the victims were nine women, 10 men and one child. • 44. What Is Okonkwo s Role In Igbo Society Since the civilization of the African continent the natives were seen as uncivilized and wild. Achebe throughout Things Fall Apart works to counter these very stereotypes. Set in an Ibo village in Nigeria during the start of European civilization, the book focuses on the main character Okonkwo and his prideful life to give insight on the true nature of Ibo culture. Achebe uses the abstract concept of the patriarchal society and importance of conversation to humanize the Ibo people. Seen in the interaction between Okonkwo and his wives, this matter illustrates the influential role of the patriarch in Ibo society. Speaking of his role in society Okonkwo gives the advice that, if [a man] was unable to rule his women...he was not really a man (Achebe 53). Based off of Okonkwo s advice we know the men in Ibo society hold the power over their families and if they can not control their family that they are not really a man. Okonkwo demonstrates the power he holds over his wife and children many times, often going too far. • 45. Integrity In Sir Thomas More s A Man For All Seasons In A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More, the plot s protagonist, displays a reoccurring theme of integrity. According to Webster s Dictionary, integrity is the adherence to moral and ethical principles; and soundness of moral character. Dedicated to not losing himself by consenting to the King s divorce, Thomas More continually shows the adherence to his morality rather than the wishes of those around him. Even though this historic drama ultimately ends in the beheading of Sir Thomas More, his integrity shows his devotion towards himself, his piety towards his country, and his self respect that contrasts with the other characters.
