Individual Action Plan Leadership Essay
HP | Individual Action Plan | Change Through Direct Action | | Na | 12/12/2011 | Managing People
STATEMENT of OBJECTIVE: The intention of the following individual action plan is to recognize
my leadership strengths and identify areas where I am able to further develop and strengthen my
leadership qualities. The challenge within the action plan is to be cognizant of my strengths and
weaknesses within the context of my professional and personal life allowing for me to constructively
work towards strengthening my weaknesses. The deeper subset to the challenge will require that truth
and sincerity of my experiences both professionally and personally be disclosed. The sense of urgency
is present and current, I have personally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do need to recognize that other scholars limit emotional intelligence to a much narrower set of
factors (qtd. In Cameron and Whetten, 2011, p.63), which would not allow for a final and complete
assessment of leadership based on the exclusivity of analysis. I have chosen to pursue the Goleman
framework for guiding and addressing the specific challenge to complete the action plan based on the
clarity and broader scope of evaluation provided by Goleman. I would like to establish a correlation
between Mayer and Salovey as they relate to Goleman. I believe that self awareness is an interior
component of emotional intelligence this being the primary distinction between Goleman and Mayer
amp; Salvoy. The ability of emotional intelligence centers on a person s skill in recognizing emotional
information and carrying out abstract reasoning using this emotional information. More specifically,
emotional intelligence involves the abilities to perceive, appraise, and express emotion; to access
and/or generate feelings when they facilitate thought; to understand emotion and emotional
knowledge; and to regulate emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth (Mayer amp;
Salovey, 1997, p.10). I believe that without an understanding of Mayer and Salovey it is difficult to
use Goleman s framework. I believe that the two approaches are codependent of one another. I assert
that in this instance it will be acknowledged that we

Most Significant Events Essay
Some of the most significant events that took place during the 1st and 2nd century AD, was pentecost
and St Paul s conversion. Pentecost was 50 days after the Passover. Pentecost occurred when the 12
Apostles gathered in a house, when they saw a violent wind come from heaven. It filled the area, and
they saw tongues that looked like fire that separated and was above each of them. This was the first
time the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit, which allowed them to speak different tongues. One
of the Apostles filled with the Spirit preached to everyone that they should be baptised and they too
would be filled with the Holy Spirit. 3000 were baptised, which increased the growth of the Catholic
Church as it moved many to believe and become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time many influential people such as Saint Paul and Saint Stephen. Paul was a influence to
many people who listened to him. He Influenced people to believe in Jesus because of his own
experience. He was able to tell people that Jesus was real which made people believe him. He went on
three missions which was an important part in the growth of the church. During his missions has he
performed many miracles, he healed a cripple in Lystra. He also converted and preached to people,
helping them to become members of the Church. Also because of Pentecost, followers and believers
around the world could be empowered by the Holy Spirt, which opened more doors increasing
Christianity around the globe. Due to Pentecost we now have a sacrament, Baptism, that allows us to

The Importance Of Government Censorship On Social Media
In an age where more and more people are using social media for both personal and professional
reasons, there is an increasing amount of government censorship, as well as self censorship, evident
on widely used social media platforms. After conducting research on this topic, I have discovered the
very fine line between using social networking sites for personal uses versus professional uses.
According to scholars, while only 47% of nonacademics use social media for professional purposes,
about 91% of university faculty members use social networking sites in class or for other professional
reasons (Moran, Seaman, Tinti Kane, 2011). Professionals, particularly academic professionals, have
to keep a squeaky clean presence on social media. In this paper, I will discuss my research regarding
self censorship on social media, government intervention and censorship and what that means for the
American principle of free speech, and tell some stories of individuals who have personal experiences
with these problems.
Freedom of speech is a basic right in America, granted to citizens by the Frist Amendment to the
Constitution of the United States. Many countries do not have laws protecting free speech, and in fact
have censorship laws that do the exact opposite. Many Americans as well as other people around the
world use social media as a means of expressing their own views and opinions on topics such as
politics, world news, social justice issues, and simply to express themselves as

Impact of Children on Committed Relationships
Impact of Children on Committed Relationships
Christina Smith
Everest University Online
Most of the time, children have a great impact on a relationship. Before children, couples usually tend
to spend a lot of time together and have more energy and money (Wood, 2010). Once children turn the
relationship into a family, couples have less time together along with less energy and money (Wood,
2010). Our communications go from long and stimulating conversations about anything and
everything to mostly about the children. We all know that becoming a parent is hard, but until we do,
we never realize exactly how hard it really is (Wood, 2010). I interviewed five parents, two of them
being a married couple, on how becoming parents impacted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Brad and Morgan also felt that most communication went from being about them to being about the
baby. Morgan told me, I think our communication changed because most of our conversations are
about finances and about our son. And we don t seem to be as laid back about situations as we were
before we had our son. We are definitely very quick to jump the gun and go off our rocker because of
so much concern for our son. It is amazing how someone you love so much can make you stress over
them so bad! (personal communication, January 9, 2012). As Wood (2010) discussed, most of the
communications became centered on the children. It seems that for the most part, the level of
communication didn t change, but the subject did. My third question to these parents was, How did
having a child affect your marriage or relationship? Michelle and Season seemed to have almost the
same view. Michelle related, Our marriage was based on a pregnancy to begin with, so after the babies
were born, it was quickly noticed that they were not the fix it to our multitude of problems. They were
blessings to us both, but could not repair something that was bad from the beginning (personal
communication, January 10, 2012), and Season said, Having a child changed our relationship. He
seemed to become jealous of the baby for a while. He still got to do whatever he wanted and I got
stuck at home taking care of the baby. Our relationship got real rocky for a while, but we got past it

Basket making was normally done by the elders of the tribe. The elders would sit around large fires
weaving baskets and singing ancient songs or prayers. Phillip Martin said, The baskets were made out
of any materials found in the area. The most common material used was tall grass (Martin 1). The
baskets can be found in various sizes and different configurations. While in the Hall of the Tribes we
found a basket that was taller than a fully grown man. The basket was made out of tall grass and
weighed well over one hundred pounds. In order to color a basket tall grass would have to be cut and
dried on drying racks. After the grass was dried baskets would be decorated with dye. In order to dye a
basket a particular color different herbs, fruit berries, flowers, grasses of color, and certain species of
trees were selected to make the different dye colors. The materials used for dye were then crushed or
pulverized into powder and made into paste or liquid paint. After the dye paint was made the tall grass
was soaked in the desired color and again placed on drying racks. Weavers then selected the desired
color stained grass and wove it into their baskets. After we departed the Hall of Tribes, we ventured
out into the surrounding snow covered grounds to see the ancient structures and ceremonial dwellings
that were also painted with the same colors and patterns as used on

The Godfather music
Music from the Godfather Trilogy The Godfather opens with a dark trumpet solo, which were the
opening titles for The Godfather Part II and III too. This is Vito s theme. The theme is a waltz, but
unlike an ordinary waltz, it evokes a range of varied emotions. It sounds intimate in the garden scene
but threatening in the actual main title and The Halls of Fear, for the scene in which Michael finds his
father without protection in the hospital. The final appearance of the theme in the first film is over the
end credits, where it is more sad than intimate or threatening. The Baptism The baptism scene is
where Michael kills all of his enemies while he attends his nephew s baptism as his godfather. In this
brilliant piece of music, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Godfather part 2, when the procession happens in the street, the crowds break into dancing to this
piece of music. This piece is very Italian and it fits well with the scene, because you feel how close the
community is to one another and it shows just how happy and lively the people are. Kays Theme Kay
s Theme is a piece of music which, just like Michael s Theme , is kind of a leitmotif but for Kay this
time. It is a romantic yet melancholy theme which depicts Kay s troubled life very well. This piece of
music is heard in Godfather Part II and was composed by Nino Rota. A New Carpet This piece of
music was composed, yet again, by Nino Rota and if the background music for the scene in Godfather
Part II, when Vito (when he was young) and Clemenza steal a carpet for Vito s small flat. Unlike the
other music pieces described above, this one exaggerates the humour in the scene and makes it funnier
to watch, which is what Nino Rota was trying to achieve. Overall, the music in the Godfather Trilogy
fits perfectly with whichever scene it is in or whatever mood it is trying to convey. Nino Rota and
Carmine Coppola, the main composers in this film, are very talented and good at what they do. In my
opinion, Speak Softly Love is the best piece of music in the film because of the meaning that has been
put into it and all of the emotions that come out of it. The Godfather Trilogy has some unforgettable
and legendary music themes. The

A Background On Security Design Patterns Essay
In this section, we present a brief background on security design patterns and FCA. 2.1. Security
Design Patterns Christopher Alexander first introduced the concept of design patterns for use of living
spaces, in his book A Pattern Language , published in 1977 [3]. The concept of a pattern was adopted
by the software community in the book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object Oriented
Software , published in 1994 whose authors Gamma, Helm, Johnson, and Vlissides are known as the
Gang of Four [4]. The first design patterns related to security were published by Yoder and Barcalow
in 1997 which described 7 design patterns. Subsequently, many design patterns and pattern catalogs
were published. Important contributions are by Romanosky [5], Kienzle et al. [6], Blakley and
members of the Open Group security Forum [7], Hafiz et al. [8,9] and the Microsoft Patterns and
Practices group [10,11]. In their book published in 2005, Schumacher and a working group of security
pattern experts, discussed 46 patterns [12]. Steel et al. [13] compiled a catalog of 23 core security
patterns for J2EE and web services. Dougherty et al., at the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering
Institute, described 15 design patterns in their guide to Secure Design Patterns [14]. Fernandez
presented 68 design patterns in the book Security Patterns in Practice: Designing Secure Architectures
Using Software Patterns [15]. Today the total number of security design patterns is around 400

To investigate blood glucose concentrations following food input. This was done by analysing blood
glucose concentration data from individuals ingesting various types of food following several hours of
fasting. To also examine glucose tolerance test in a clinical context and to further explain glucose
concentrations in the body. Results The students who continued fasting after the 12hr fasting period
has almost equal amounts of blood glucose concentrations (BGC), during the 90mins period, with
averages ranging from 4.3 4.7 mmol/l. This was the negative control. The average BGC of students
who ate 100g white bread elevated after 60 minutes. Students who ingested 100g of lean chicken after
fasting, had a lower BGC than the white bread. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the graph, it can be concluded that student 4 is diabetic. After the administration of a standard dose of
glucose, this student seems to have a very similar plasma glucose concentration (PGC) to that of a
diabetic from the population average glucose tolerance test. After 30 minutes, the plasma glucose
concentration of student 4 seems to be higher than that of a diabetic, as it s 14.2mmol/l, however it
slowly decreases overtime but remains relatively high at 120 minutes. It is possible that student 1 has
impaired glucose tolerance, as after 30 minutes of ingesting the standard dose of glucose, the PGC is
seen to be the highest amongst all individuals. However, the PGC normalises after the sudden drop
over time but there is still a likelihood of this person developing diabetes, because of the initial
abnormal plasma glucose concentration. Blood Glucose Concentrations Possible metabolic fates of

Mary Wortley Montagu
Lady Mary Wortley Montagu was a well known writer and poet. She often referred to herself as a
poet, even though she was best known as a letter writer. Her letters involved augustan verse, which are
satires, verse epistles, mock epics, translations, essays, ballads, and songs. All used to respond to her
life happening around her, and to give life to her private feelings. Her writing had many facets, just
like her personality. She is remembered as a prolific letter in almost every epistolary style. (The
Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica) She was also an essayist, feminist, traveler, and eccentric. She

Lady Mary s literary reputation chiefly rests on 52 superb Turkish embassy letters, which she wrote

interaction and information dissemination. From a social web data mining perspective, Facebook

Related Work
In this section, we discuss the recent research work related to techniques for predicting age, gender
and personality based on the information available on social networking sites. Most studies predict
personality from the language used by a person to update status or chat in social network.
According to recent works based on study of function words such as pronouns, conjunctions, articles
and prepositions, the elderly use more future tense words and pronouns in their plural forms. The
same studies show that males use more articles and females make heavy use of first person singular
pronouns. In [7], the authors state that even with its challenges, text categorization is a reliable
approach to identify the age and gender of people in social network communication. Goldbeck et al.,
in [3], show that people of different age groups talked about different topics. For example, those
within the age group of 13 to 18 mostly discussed activities related to school, 19 to 22 year olds talked
about university/college.
Many efforts have been made by researchers to analyze the words used by humans to understand their
psychology [2]. Public information of a group of Facebook users was collected by the authors of [6].
They were able to predict the Big five personality traits of the users using this data within 89%
accuracy.

Economic Impact Of The Indian Ocean Trade
From 120 BCE to the 16th century, trade was a remarkable part of the Eastern Hemisphere. It played a
vital role in the kingdoms and city states that made up all of what the 21st century calls Europe, Asia,
and Africa. Trade was critically important in this time period because of the diverse climate that was
scattered all across the continent. Due to the climate, every location had different resources that were
provided by nature. Without specific resources, specific goods could not be manufactured. Not only
that, but since technology was not as advanced as it is now, specific products were not able to exist in
areas. The only way to obtain those products was to trade. Two of the many routes that a merchant
could use to trade were the Silk Road and the Sea Roads along the Indian Ocean. Of those two roads,
the Indian trade route had the most positive impact around the world. It facilitated the trading of mass
goods since rather than using animals to transport goods, they used boats. It also provided a type of
wind known as Monsoon wind that merchants could benefit from. Finally, the Indian Ocean trade
route stretched out at a greater distance than the silk road, which impacted the goods that could be
traded. Overall, the Indian Ocean trade route had the best impact in the Eastern Hemisphere and even
the world. One of the most significant reasons why the trade route through the Indian Ocean had the
most positive impact around the world is because it allowed merchants to

Peer Pressure Towards Negative Behaviour and Classroom...
Children are often viewed as happy, carefree beings without having to care for most stressors in life.
However, take a closer look and we would understand that children do have their growing pains as
well. In this research, children are defined as young kids below the age of 12. As they grow older, they
undergo many changes in their life, and it is of no surprise that they need to learn to cope from the
situation based on those changes. This study is designed to understand the underlying theories and
factors that could affect the children s development through the environmental influences that may
promote or affect the development of behavior and achievement through peer pressure and classroom

Although conformity and compliance are relatively similar, they too, have differences. Compliance is
a specific response to a specific request, while conformity generally involves unspoken pressure to
behave in a particular manner. Generally, compliance involves request which could be explicit such as
using the foot in the door technique. Most of the time, in compliance, the child is told to respond or
complete the task told in a desirable manner; while in conformity, a person is expected to behave in a
particular manner (Cialdini and Trost, 1998).
Compliance plays a major role in building and maintaining relationships where children learn to
behave in a certain manner to maintain status quo (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). When we comply with
an instruction, we receive praises, or lavished with social acceptance and gifts. By doing so, the
children feel accepted, wanted and loved by other peers. In a way, compliance acts as a form of
conditioning the behavior expected from their peers (Cialdini and Trost, 1998).
It is easy to view compliance as a form of concession due to the obligation children might have
towards their peers. Studies have found that with compliance, children tend to bend towards peer
pressure and it has a significant effect towards negative behavior (Adams et al, 2000; Fanti and
Henrich, 2010). This isn t surprising, as children

Wedding Games And Wedding Games
Wedding games and wedding music all inclusive
A wedding is one of the memorable events in a person s life. Everyone desires his/her wedding to be
perfect and entertaining.Sadly;not all weddings turn out this way. There are some that are boring that
guests regret attending them.
A person can hire a good wedding band to make his/her event worth remembering. Musicians are
hired to entertain guests and make events lively. Finding a perfect band isn t as easy as most people
tend to think. It is quite a tiresome process.
Both services provided by the band
Most entertainers offer two types of services, namely music and games. These games and music vary
depending on the hired musicians. You need to hire a band for weddings that meets your specific
needs.
Here are some things you need to set right before getting into the market to look for a perfect
entertainer:
The type of audience that will attend your event.
Your budget
The kind of music you want to be played in your event
Wedding games they offer
You can choose to hire a band for entertainment purposes only if you are running on a limited
budget.Alternatively; you can choose both music and games if you can afford both. Games can make
your event more lively when the entertainers are not performing. You can include presents and marks
to make these games interesting. You can involve your selected agency to help you choose a perfect

Batman An Auteur Analysis
The question at hand states, In evaluating a film, should we interpret and evaluate it by considering
how the film is the creative work of a single author or auteur? (Yenter, Essay Information ).
Understanding my claim requires an understanding of what an auteur is. The original auteur theory is
the idea that the director is the sole author of the film. There are three different strategies that are
typically used to argue for the theory of single authorship. Those strategies are as follows: the
restriction strategy, the sufficient control strategy, and the construction strategy. By assessing these
various strategies attempting to defend single authorship as well as assessing the poststructuralist
theory, I will show how the director alone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Harry Potter movies have not been evaluated based on the work of the director(s). According to
the auteur theory, each of the movies would need to be evaluated and interpreted based on the creative
work of the director each specific movie. This would be as if we are saying each Harry Potter movie is
separate and distinct from the Harry Potter movies created by a different director. As Harry Potter is
meant to be evaluated and interpreted as a unified series, the auteur theory interpretation would make
utterly no sense. Obviously, by using Harry Potter as an example, many opponents would make that
claim that J.K. Rowling wrote the books. Even if we can compare literature to film and J.K. Rowling
is also said to be the author of the films, she is not the director. But because of her role in creating
these novels, she had a say in how the movies portrayed them, and in some cases, similar to Thor, her
vision overruled the director s vision. As intertextuality makes clear, films are collaborative efforts,
not the sole work of the

Central Line Infection Report
For over a decade, healthcare associated infections (HAIs) have been at the forefront for improvement
in hospitals across the nation, with central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI) being a
frontrunner of HAIs investigated as a major area for improvement. A central line can be either a
central venous catheter (CVC) or a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and has many uses in
intensive care units, inpatient units, and home health care including administration of antibiotics, TPN,
and chemotherapy treatment. Remarkable improvements over the past decade have been made in
order to shrink the rate of CLABSIs with measures and ongoing research to continue to diminish the

With the original aim of CLABSI prevention aimed primarily at intensive care units, this new
approach sets its sights on decreasing rates in hospital patients in general acute care settings where a
reported 23,000 CLABSIs occurred in 2009. These statistics guided Teleflex Inc. to create a new FDA
approved PICC in 2011 with both antimicrobial along with antithrombogenic effects. A California
hospital that consistently utilizes evidence based research conducted in house research in 2014 to test
the effectiveness of the new PICC and determine if it would truly decrease infecftion rates. This
testing was done using an intervention group, whom had the antimicrobial PICC inserted, and a
nonintervention group, whom had the standard PICC inserted. Both groups were predominantly equal
in terms of gender, race, age, and medical status and both received equal treatment using the central
line intervention bundle, including scheduled dressing changes every seven days or as needed, access
devices changed every Monday and Thursday, the use of an alcohol impregnated cap on all ports, and

Anchee Min Red Azala Quotes
Anchee Min s Red Azalea illustrates that Mao s Cultural Revolution undermined the Confucian values
China was built on by drastically changing the concept of being a junzi to the perfect socialist,
therefore making people devote themselves to the communist party. This change is present as Anchee
Min is not following the policies of Mao and the Little Red Guard because she could not kill her pet
chicken, which goes against Mao s public health campaign. Anchee reminisces that he [Committee
leader] asked why I was not behaving as a Red Guard should. He asked if I still wanted to be voted as
a Mao s Loyalist. Notice how Anchee uses the word head in the first part of the quote. She uses it to
show that she was the leader of the Little Red Guard,

Compared to the major local tea brands in Malaysia such as BOH, Sabah Tea, and Cameron Bharat
Plantations, Zealong has a limited range of products. Hence, Zealong may attract buyers through the
quality of its products, its uniqueness, and the satisfaction that it offers through its products (tea).
PROMOTION STRATEGY
In terms of promotion strategy, to promote Zealong to Malaysians, Zealong should do thorough
research on what form of promotion that may catch attention of possible consumers fast and effective.
Perhaps Zealong may go for outdoor advertising. Placing ads on boards placed on highway roadsides.
Malaysians especially those living in the busy cities, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor Bahru spend
long hours on the road due to traffic jams. Hence, outdoor advertising is certainly reliable in Malaysia.
However, to stand out from others, the ad should be designed with creativity. BOH has come up with a
very creative advertising, placing its ads on sliding doors.

Songwriting Greenhouse Analysis
My first topic will be about 5 instruments, and the importance of playing them, and having basic
understanding about them. I will describe each instrument s importance for its inclusion on the list,
and how each one uniquely enables people to translate their musical ideas into tangible realities. The
voice takes precedence and superiority over all instruments. Although many people have various skill
levels when it comes to vocals, the voice is the one instrument that most people can relate to. In a
worship band, vocalists are ideal for engaging the audience into an inviting atmosphere for worship
through the lyrics sung. The Bible talks about the importance of the voice and singing 121 times! In

The first step in a successful greenhouse is making sure that the atmosphere is suitable for a plant to
grow in; in the same way when songwriting it is important to be surrounded by a creative atmosphere
with all necessary tools needed. After this, a seed, or an idea will be given, and it is now a
responsibility to make sure that it is planted, (written down) watered, (practiced) and well taken care
of, so that in the future the plant will be healthy and ready to bear fruit. The seed could be planted in
the right soil, but if it is left out in the cold, it will eventually die. This can relate to a situation where
the idea is practiced and developed, but not written down in the right place; this will result in the idea
eventually being forgotten. There could also be a situation where the idea is written down but not
practiced or developed, which could result in a very rough song without true interest behind it. This
Songwriting Greenhouse concept is quite new to me, but I have realized that I have been using it all

also times where I have written down the idea and lost interest to complete it. Overall, this concept has
been a part of my song writing process even without me knowing it. I have completed a total of 8

Libor, the London Interbank Lending Rate, is considered to be one of the most important rates in
finance because trillions of financial contracts utilize this rate. Libor is used globally as a benchmark
interest rate 2 in which it is used to set up a range of financial deals. It is also used as measure for
financial institutions to gauge their trust level in the financial system and to check each institutions
financial health. This rate is determined by a group of leading banks that submit the rates of ten
different currencies and fifteen lengths of loans, which range from overnight to twelve months2. The
most important part is the three month dollar Libor 2, which is the rate that other banks would borrow
from each other for three months. Traders managed to manipulate this rate because the rates submitted
are estimates; it would be relatively easy to submit false figures2. Traders in other banks devised a
plan with each other by submitting rates that were higher or lower than the actual estimate in order to
control the interest rate.
Libor is an interest rate that is determined by the rates at which banks lend funds to each other on the
London interbank market. Every day the banks submit their borrowing costs to the Thomson Reuters
data collection service in which an agent calculates out Libor2. The agent discards the highest and

Heritage Assessment
The increasing population of immigrants in the United States has contributed to health disparities in
the health care system. Cultural competence can remove health disparities by eliminating personal
biases, and treating every person with respect. Simply recognizing and accepting different cultures is
not enough, one must be able to consistently recognize and understand the differences in order to be
culturally competent. Knowledge and culturally competent practices are a must for nurses to deliver
quality care in our rapidly changing multicultural world (Edelman, 2014 p. 25).

How Did Halloween Influence Early American Culture
When Christianity reached to the Europe, missioners attempted to change the religious practices of the
Celtic people instead of trying to abolish these pagan customs. They wished to introduce ideas which
reflected a Christian worldview. Halloween has since integrated a mixture of traditional practices from
pagan cultures and Christian beliefs. Virtually all present Halloween traditions can be traced to the
ancient Celtic practice of Samhain festival. Although halloween is a holiday of many mystic customs;
each one has a story behind it. The wearing of costumes, and wandering from door to door demanding
treats can be also traced to the Celtic era when it was widely viewed that the souls of the dead were

tradition evolves. To this day, witches, ghosts, batman, black cat and skeleton figures of are among the

to the strong Christian heritage. Initially, it was practiced only in small Irish population, until
thousands of Irish migrated to American soil and brought their tradition with them. Some regard

anxious, depressed, nervous, or angry? Or feeling low on self confidence and self esteem? One of the
questions I get asked a lot by my clients (and friends too) is how to build self confidence and start to

Turtles Still Swimming
The article that was more effective on achieving its purpose between the two articles, After Spill, Sea
Turtles Still Swimming and For the Turtles both by Achieve 3000, is After Spill, Sea Turtles Still
Swimming . The reason why I say this is because according to Achieve 3000, she says, To the female
sea turtle, her nesting activity was nothing out of the ordinary for that time of year. But to the crowd,
the reptile s presence was significant; it meant that she and likely more of her species had survived the
disastrous April 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. What the author is saying is that scientists and
citizens are excited to see that the sea turtles have survived. This shows why After Spill, Sea Turtles
Still Swimming is more effective on achieving its purpose because this evidence shows more about
what the article is talking about. Along with that it shows how well the scientists did when saving the
sea turtles. Going along with that, Achieve 3000 writes, According to Shaver s tallies, the Kemp s
ridleys numbers look very good. In May, at the peak of the turtles nesting season, 155 Kemp s ridley
nests were spotted on Texas shores. This is more than were counted in all of 2010, and more than had
been counted by that point in 2009 and 2008. What the author is saying here is that the numbers show
how the sea turtles are recovering well.

TABC Considerations for Olive Garden Analysis
Beverage Management Project #2
TABC Considerations for Olive Garden Analysis In order to offer a viable platform in which
restaurants can offer alcoholic beverages as part of their drink line, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage
Commission has created a set of guidelines which establishments must utilize in order to initiate a
more responsible service to the community. According to the TABC guidelines (2014) these guidelines
should clear following national, state, and local laws when offering alcohol to patrons, such as
ensuring that alcoholic beverage is only served to those over age 21 (checked if they appear to be
under 30), a valid Texas driver s license, or another valid identification must be used, and employees
must refuse service to anyone that does not fit these criteria. However, there are also TABC guidelines
(2014) which are state defined, such as the need to refuse service to anyone that appears to be
intoxicated, prohibit employees from serving customers to the point of intoxication, offer mediation
for intoxicated customers who wish to leave the premises in such a state, and adhere to the TABC
certification regulations. A secondary goal, to this extent is also to meet the mixed beverage gross
sales tax requirements at a rate of 6.7% after Jan.1, 2014 and 14% prior to Jan. 1, 2014, as well as the
mixed beverage sales tax, which was implemented after Jan. 1, 2014. In order to draw more insight

War Of The World Movie Vs Book
Comparing Adaptations of Books and Film: The War of the Worlds
Adaptations of books into movies are very common. In comparing the book by H.G. Wells, The War
of the World, written in 1897 and the film with the same title directed by Steven Spielberg released in
2005 there are many similarities and many differences. Based on many of the facts of this story I
believe this to be an intermediate adaptation. An intermediate adaptation is defined as, Some elements
of the story are kept in the film, other elements are dropped, and still more elements are added
(Desmond 44). This essay will look at some of the differences based on the era that the film version
was produced in.
The tone of the movie is different based on the era that the film was produced. During the early 2000
there were issues that were not as prevalent or discussed as in the 1890 s. One of these such topics is
that of divorce and the new blended family. This movie showed a divorced father who was not present
in the lives of his children. The children were dropped off by their mother who had planned a vacation
with her new husband. The father is unprepared for the children s visit and he appears uncomfortable

The Matrix, By Directors Lana And Larry Wachowski Essay
Due to technology more advanced, it is only natural for people to question the possibilities and
dangers as well its consequences to our society. Science fiction genres are great depictions and visual
representations that can bring possible answers to our doubts. In the film The Matrix (1999), directors
Lana and Larry Wachowski convey their idea that freedom is when you can fully control you own life
and the theme of Reality Vs. illusion through characterization, setting and the films visual effects. The
protagonist Neo, is a hacker who believes that he is not truly awake and feels an unexplainable doubt
in his life. He is then awakened by Morpheus, the leader of the resistance against the matrix, into an
apocalyptic world where machines control peoples minds through a program called the matrix .
Throughout their battle in rescuing the human race, the crucial idea of what true freedom is, constantly
stirs up not only the characters but also the viewer s minds. Would we call living in a reality full of
chaos being free, or would we rather live in an illusion where you are free and the society is perfect,
but in reality being locked up in a tube?
The theme of Man Vs Machine is communicated through characterization and costume. The matrix is
an example of human devolution, when Machine takes over human species. In the film, humans are
enslaved by machines in an invisible prison where they perceive they live normal lives, but in reality
they are controlled by the machines.

The Role Of Women s Suffrage In The United States
Women, for a long time, were one of the most undervalued assets essential to life in the late 1800s and
early 1900s. Throughout recorded history, women have been treated as less than men. They have been
viewed as simply a vessel for reproduction or a maid to do housework and prepare meals for her
husband. In many ancient cultures and some cultures today women are viewed merely as possessions.
Surprisingly, women were even oppressed in the United States, which was founded upon freedom and
equality. Women have been struggling to shed the chains of motherhood and be recognized as equal
human beings for as long as written records have been around. The unequal treatment of women was
often based on religion or tradition. The United States did not ... Show more content on

The supporters of inequality often feared changing old traditions. Some of the inequality had its base
rooted in religion. In the United States the predominant religion was Christianity. In the Bible, the man
is supposed to be the breadwinner of the family, while the woman oversees all the household duties.
People latched onto this idea which meant if you attacked that idea, you were attacking their religious
beliefs. What these people did not take into consideration is that when the Bible was written times
were different. When using historical accounts to develop ones beliefs you must take into
consideration that life may not be the same as it was when the event occurred. In Bible times, every
society was one hundred percent agrarian. This means when the Bible talks about men being
responsible for all the work and providing for his family, it is referring to the physical labor that must
go into producing food and running a farm. The Bible, for the most part, just divides the work of
having a family based on individual strengths. Men are biologically inclined to be physically stronger
and women are biologically inclined to nurture and be more gentle. The division of the work in that
way made sense during ancient times. The Bible does not say that women absolutely cannot do work
if they want to. It certainly does not encourage discrimination of women who do

Qantas Market Segmentation
The airline industry has long attempted to segment the air travel market in order to effectively target
its constituents. The classic airline model consists of First Class, Business Class and Economy, and the
demographics that make up the classes have both similarities and differences to the other classes. For
instance there may be similarities between business class travellers on a particular flight, but they will
not all be travelling for the same reason. An almost universal characteristic of air travel is that
customers do not fly for the sake of flying; the destination is the important element and the travel is a

I have chosen to pursue the Goleman framework for guiding and addressing the specific challenge to complete the action plan based on the clarity and broader scope of evaluation provided by Goleman. I would like to establish a correlation between Mayer and Salovey as they relate to Goleman. I believe that self awareness is an interior component of emotional intelligence this being the primary distinction between Goleman and Mayer amp; Salvoy. The ability of emotional intelligence centers on a person s skill in recognizing emotional information and carrying out abstract reasoning using this emotional information. More specifically, emotional intelligence involves the abilities to perceive, appraise, and express emotion; to access and/or generate feelings when they facilitate thought; to understand emotion and emotional knowledge; and to regulate emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth (Mayer amp; Salovey, 1997, p.10). • 3. Most Significant Events Essay Some of the most significant events that took place during the 1st and 2nd century AD, was pentecost and St Paul s conversion. Pentecost was 50 days after the Passover. Pentecost occurred when the 12 Apostles gathered in a house, when they saw a violent wind come from heaven. It filled the area, and they saw tongues that looked like fire that separated and was above each of them. This was the first time the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit, which allowed them to speak different tongues. One of the Apostles filled with the Spirit preached to everyone that they should be baptised and they too would be filled with the Holy Spirit. 3000 were baptised, which increased the growth of the Catholic Church as it moved many to believe and become ... • 5. The Importance Of Government Censorship On Social Media In an age where more and more people are using social media for both personal and professional reasons, there is an increasing amount of government censorship, as well as self censorship, evident on widely used social media platforms. After conducting research on this topic, I have discovered the very fine line between using social networking sites for personal uses versus professional uses. According to scholars, while only 47% of nonacademics use social media for professional purposes, about 91% of university faculty members use social networking sites in class or for other professional reasons (Moran, Seaman, Tinti Kane, 2011). Professionals, particularly academic professionals, have to keep a squeaky clean presence on social media. In this paper, I will discuss my research regarding self censorship on social media, government intervention and censorship and what that means for the American principle of free speech, and tell some stories of individuals who have personal experiences with these problems. Freedom of speech is a basic right in America, granted to citizens by the Frist Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Many countries do not have laws protecting free speech, and in fact have censorship laws that do the exact opposite. Many Americans as well as other people around the world use social media as a means of expressing their own views and opinions on topics such as politics, world news, social justice issues, and simply to express themselves as ... • 7. Impact of Children on Committed Relationships Impact of Children on Committed Relationships Christina Smith Everest University Online Most of the time, children have a great impact on a relationship. Before children, couples usually tend to spend a lot of time together and have more energy and money (Wood, 2010). Once children turn the relationship into a family, couples have less time together along with less energy and money (Wood, 2010). Our communications go from long and stimulating conversations about anything and everything to mostly about the children. The baskets can be found in various sizes and different configurations. While in the Hall of the Tribes we found a basket that was taller than a fully grown man. The basket was made out of tall grass and weighed well over one hundred pounds. In order to color a basket tall grass would have to be cut and dried on drying racks. After the grass was dried baskets would be decorated with dye. In order to dye a basket a particular color different herbs, fruit berries, flowers, grasses of color, and certain species of trees were selected to make the different dye colors. The theme is a waltz, but unlike an ordinary waltz, it evokes a range of varied emotions. It sounds intimate in the garden scene but threatening in the actual main title and The Halls of Fear, for the scene in which Michael finds his father without protection in the hospital. The final appearance of the theme in the first film is over the end credits, where it is more sad than intimate or threatening. Kays Theme Kay s Theme is a piece of music which, just like Michael s Theme , is kind of a leitmotif but for Kay this time. • 10. A Background On Security Design Patterns Essay In this section, we present a brief background on security design patterns and FCA. 2.1. Security Design Patterns Christopher Alexander first introduced the concept of design patterns for use of living spaces, in his book A Pattern Language , published in 1977 [3]. The concept of a pattern was adopted by the software community in the book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object Oriented Software , published in 1994 whose authors Gamma, Helm, Johnson, and Vlissides are known as the Gang of Four [4]. The first design patterns related to security were published by Yoder and Barcalow in 1997 which described 7 design patterns. Subsequently, many design patterns and pattern catalogs were published. Important contributions are by Romanosky [5], Kienzle et al. [6], Blakley and members of the Open Group security Forum [7], Hafiz et al. [8,9] and the Microsoft Patterns and Practices group [10,11]. In their book published in 2005, Schumacher and a working group of security pattern experts, discussed 46 patterns [12]. Steel et al. [13] compiled a catalog of 23 core security patterns for J2EE and web services. Dougherty et al., at the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute, described 15 design patterns in their guide to Secure Design Patterns [14]. Fernandez presented 68 design patterns in the book Security Patterns in Practice: Designing Secure Architectures Using Software Patterns [15]. • 15. Economic Impact Of The Indian Ocean Trade From 120 BCE to the 16th century, trade was a remarkable part of the Eastern Hemisphere. It played a vital role in the kingdoms and city states that made up all of what the 21st century calls Europe, Asia, and Africa. Trade was critically important in this time period because of the diverse climate that was scattered all across the continent. Due to the climate, every location had different resources that were provided by nature. Without specific resources, specific goods could not be manufactured. Not only that, but since technology was not as advanced as it is now, specific products were not able to exist in areas. The only way to obtain those products was to trade. Two of the many routes that a merchant could use to trade were the Silk Road and the Sea Roads along the Indian Ocean. Of those two roads, the Indian trade route had the most positive impact around the world. It facilitated the trading of mass goods since rather than using animals to transport goods, they used boats. It also provided a type of wind known as Monsoon wind that merchants could benefit from. Finally, the Indian Ocean trade route stretched out at a greater distance than the silk road, which impacted the goods that could be traded. Overall, the Indian Ocean trade route had the best impact in the Eastern Hemisphere and even the world. Compliance is a specific response to a specific request, while conformity generally involves unspoken pressure to behave in a particular manner. Generally, compliance involves request which could be explicit such as using the foot in the door technique. Most of the time, in compliance, the child is told to respond or complete the task told in a desirable manner; while in conformity, a person is expected to behave in a particular manner (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). Compliance plays a major role in building and maintaining relationships where children learn to behave in a certain manner to maintain status quo (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). When we comply with an instruction, we receive praises, or lavished with social acceptance and gifts. By doing so, the children feel accepted, wanted and loved by other peers. In a way, compliance acts as a form of conditioning the behavior expected from their peers (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). It is easy to view compliance as a form of concession due to the obligation children might have towards their peers.
