Pro Death Penalty Speech
Good day ladies and gentlemen. I would like to thank all of you for coming out today and hope you
are all enjoying the croissants and Starbuck s coffee provided as a courtesy of your great state. Please
allow me to introduce myself before we get started. My name is Slick Perry and if you didn t already
know, I am the state governor of Texas. You are all aware that we are reviewing our recidivism rate to
various crimes and reviewing our stance regarding the death penalty as we approach 2009. Everyone
here understands that capital punishment is a very controversial topic in the United States. In Texas,
from December 1982 through August 2008, only 361 criminals of the millions of Texans in our good
state were executed for the wickedest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in my mind that in Texas only the most vial and cruel criminals are placed on death row, and,
who are the most deserving. The consequences of the Supreme Court s 1972 ruling voided 40 death
penalty statutes, thereby commuting the sentences of 629 death row inmates around the country, 45
from Texas and suspending the death penalty because existing statutes were no longer valid. However,
this ruling went against the U.S. public majority where, in fact, over 55% of U.S. citizens were in
favor of the death penalty. Some states rewrote their death penalty laws to address the
unconstitutionality of giving juries complete discretion in sentencing by setting a mandated capital
punishment for those convicted of capital crimes. The Supreme Court ruled in Woodson v. North
Carolina (1976) this was also unconstitutional. A different approach by some states was to introduce
mitigating and aggravating factors when determining sentencing where, in 1976, the Supreme Court
ultimately approved. The Supreme Court also held that the death penalty itself was once again
constitutional under the Eighth Amendment allowing states a new dawn for a better society. On
January 17, 1977, the suspension of the death penalty officially ended with the execution of Gary
Gilmore in Utah, by firing squad, and that same year the introduction and use of the new kinder
gentler lethal injection was

Analysis Of Le Chinois Galant
Le Chinois Galant
Le Chinois Galant, is a breathtaking oil painting that was created by a famous artist in the 18th century
of the name Francois Boucher. This stunning painting conveys the modern era that is of china. This
canvas of which this painting was painted on was fitted onto a Rococo frame as seen in The David
Collection located at Copenhagen, Denmark; that was photographed by Pernille Klemp. The
dimensions for the canvas are forty one inches by fifty seven inches. In this art piece oil paint was
used on linen canvas to help create different shades of blue color, adding not only more of a vibrant
effect but also portraying a mood to the painting. By applying the oil paint, it gave the benefit of
making the surface of the painting more smooth. The smoothness of the paint reflected gave more
contrast to the painting. The subject manifested within the painting is one in which a man is courting
the woman to ultimately making love to one another. It seems as though the man and woman are in a
garden that is quiet and contained within the garden is a statue of Buddha hinting at possibly the loss
of innocence. The main purpose of Francois Boucher s canvas, Le Chinois Galant, was to demonstrate
the cultural influence of the Chinese on the European after both cultures started trading goods in
beginning of the fifteenth century.
In Le Chinois Galant many type of formal elements that clearly displayed with the help of different
principles of designs incorporated in this

Human Trafficking Is Today s Version Of Slavery
We Are People Human trafficking is today s version of slavery. Victims are forced into labor,
prostitution, and other exploitations. In 2007 three brothers conspired together to trafficked women
from Mexico to New York, Queens. The brothers threatened, assaulted, and psychologically coerced
the young women and minors into prostitution. These men were committed to sex trafficking that one
of the brothers, Victor Leonel Estrada Tepal, forced his wife, who was only seventeen at the time, into
their sex trafficking trade. The brothers did not tell the women the real truth of why they were taking
them to the United States. In January 2014 the three brothers were arrested and in 2015 they plead
guilty to sex trafficking through the use of force, fraud, and coercion of the young women. The
brothers are facing a minimum of fifteen years in prison to a life sentence in prison. According to HSI
Special Agent in Charge Hayes, These men preyed on innocent women, luring them into the United
States under false pretenses and then cruelly enslaving them to satisfy their own greed in a ruthless
prostitution scheme ( Justice News ). These men are only one example of human traffickers. Human
trafficking is a globally wide problem and countries are not working together to end this issue. Society
should focus on achieving international human rights and promote an internal standard of laws against
human trafficking. Although Utilitarians argue we should maximize happiness of the majority by

The Life Of Jesus Christ And Paul The Apostle
The Life of Jesus Christ and Paul the Apostle The Survey of the New Testament course covered a vast
amount of material. A person with no knowledge of the Bible could absorb a wealth of sacred
information. Jesus Christ and Paul the Apostle covered a great amount of material in the New
Testament. Throughout this paper, I discuss the life of Jesus Christ and the life of Paul the Apostle and
their extraordinary missions they accomplished that led to faith in Christianity.
The Life of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ had a remarkable life with a mission to spread the good word of
God. A few of Jesus apostles wrote historical gospels of Jesus life; some of this information includes
His beginning, His teaching, His sacrifice, and His resurrection.
In the Beginning
The Bible contains scripture and prophecy of Jesus before and after His birth. In the beginning, some
of historical topics included His genealogy, His learning, His baptism, His test, and His declaration as
the Messiah. Jesus birth
Virgin Mary conceived the Son of God by the Holy Spirit while engaged to Joseph the son of David.
An angle came to Joseph and explained Mary s conception through the Holy Spirit; and told him to
take Mary as his wife, and he must name the baby boy Jesus. The prophecy of Jesus virgin birth was
in the New International Version, Isaiah 7:14, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and in
Luke 4:21 this prophesy fulfilled. Prophecy was foretold in Micah 5:2, of Jesus

Race And Gender And Race
The idea of race and gender is an idea that has been socially constructed. Society has created roles for
race and gender, they are determined by what society thinks is appropriate for the gender or race.
Some people argue that certain behavior roles are based on gender where as others may believe that it
is based on race. I will first discuss how in today s society we promote to stop racism yet it is still
happening everyday, and people are just blind to see it. Creating a role for race is racism, some people
do not understand that. I will then talk about gender, how it is socially constructed, and labeling roles
for men and women. I will also discuss how race and gender intersect in the formation of identities.
How gender and race is socially constructed, us people have the power to change it but we use our
power to look past it and pretend like it does not exist. Majority of society has been blinded to the fact
gender and racial roles do not exist, society has created it and now we think it is the norm.
Race is a concept that differentiates people based on human bodies. There is no biological basis for
racial classification. Classifying people based on the colour of their skin is being racist. Many people
are aware of this, yet every day people are being judged based on the colour of their skin. We are
being racist without even noticing it. For instance, when driving on the road and there is a bad driver
ahead, we automatically assume the driver is Asian.. Asian s

Analysis Of Yo-Yo Ma And Ethan Watters
It is okay to have a different view of knowledge. It is also okay to think one subject should be taught
more then another subject. In Yo Yo Ma and Ethan Watters essays, they both talked about different
subjects they feel should be taught more heavily in our school systems. While Ma focused more on the
arts and music, Watters focused on the science portion of education. Both had different views and
reasons they felt their subject should be taught more. Neither are wrong and they both viewed their
subjects well. Well I think both are equally valuable, some feel more science should be taught heavier,
while others agree with Ma and think art should be heavier taught. The arts for Ma was the focus of
his Essay. Antonio Damasio, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Empathy is a huge factor in the arts. Not only do they teach us that there is something bigger that
connects each of us but also it can help us engage instead of avoiding. Yo Yo Ma claims Empathy is
your capacity to imagine what someone else is going through; what they are thinking, feeling, and
perceiving (259). Ma feels that empathetical thinking is missing in education today. I feel that
although STEM is working well in school systems so far, I also think that schools are pushing STEM
too heavy. 10 years ago, the arts were a bigger deal in schools. More kids were involved in band,
choir, and even musicals. Now a day I think that kids think they are too cool to be involved in the arts
because they feel that they will get made fun of or they won t have as many friends. I believe that the
arts can help students stimulate brain activity and help children do better in school. The arts can be
more than just music, it is also just art itself which helps promote creativity. Watters essays starts off
with a study done by Henrich that looks at isolated cultures and how they relate to the west for some
basic instincts on fairness. Henrich believed he would find that all humans share the same cognitive
machinery. While doing his experiment, the ultimatum game, Henrich found that Americans were
more likely to split the amount of money 50/50. In other countries such as Machiguenga, offers were
much lower but still they would not be

AA/NA Observation Andrea Ross February 15, 2011 Health class For my observation. I attended an

caught my attention. This woman was addicted to Methamphetamines for about 3 years. To improve
her life, she is now starting to meditate. She is staying active in her daily duties, so is also seeing a
therapist about twice a week. She is also going to the gym, staying proactive. She said she started
going to the gym, which she hasn t been there for 5 years she claims. She is eating healthier, and
taking care of herself. She has one job, and is on the verge of seeking another job. Bills are tough she
said. The instructor told her how happy she was for her, and is glad she took a big step to improve her
life, and is keeping to her goals in life. We all gave advice to each other, especially the people how are

Entry 1: Passage: Bro, you should just hit that. Forget about Jase. God, that is one candy coated
honeybunny. # 14 Situation: Quentin Jacobsen and his friend Ben are trying to get him a date for
prom. They were in the hallway looking at Margo Roth Spiegelman, a girl who lives in Quentin s
neighbourhood. Analysis: In this passage, Quentin and his friend, Ben are trying to call a girl by a
slang term candy coated honeybunny. This passage can be offensive to a girl and is inappropriate for
age group. Author includes this passage so he can show the attitude of that time towards the girls.

in Florida. Big, ugly homes for big, ugly people . #47 Situation: This dialogue is by Quentin, he says
this to Margo while they were passing near Casavilla and then Quentin says to stop the car to Margo
in Casavilla. Analysis: By saying big and ugly to people and about spanish tradition, we can say that
Quentin is racist. By saying, Spanish style homes with red tile roof and later saying Big, ugly homes
for big, ugly people . I think author has this paragraph by him, so we can know how he thinks about
rich people and about other tradition. Entry 5: Passage: You d better be calling me to say that there are
eleven naked honey bunnies in your house, and that they re asking for the Special Feeling that only
Big Daddy Ben can provide. Situation: Quentin is with Margo and they are trying to call Radar but he
wasn t the one who Quentin was looking for. Then Quentin knew that calling Ben would work and he
calls Ben and he picks up the phone after calling him five times. Analysis: Here we can see that Ben
responds to Quentin in a funny way because he was irritated by Quentin calling him five times.

The Book of Love
Andrew s eyes flicked up, catching sight of her face. He swallowed, forcing his heart to not fully
pound straight out of his chest. He shoved his chair back, kicking off with his feet. Standing up his
eyes, a bright blue caught between a clear gray based blue and a weirdly vibrant electric blue, found
her face. And that wall, that steel strong wall he d built around his heart and emotion came tumbling
down. Crashing in a haze of love, hate and anger. Years of work, undone in seconds just by looking at
her. Andrew s eyes found her nut brown ones. Olivia. he spoke, his voice thick on his tongue. Her face
said it all. Regret for coming her. Pain from seeing him again. And something else even his years of
profiler training couldn t seem to place, a first for the FBI Agent. He paused to eye the bullpen before
he lead her into the hallway of the building. Tan walls stared back at him as he crossed his arms ove
his chest. It s been what, eleven years since you left me? He spoke, his voice cold. Her eyes blinked,
her head titled to the side. Eleven and a half almost to the date. Techcally two since we last spoke

The Legitimate Authority of a Despot in the UK
I will advance the thesis, if an enlightened despot seized power in the UK, and governed it justly, then
the despot would have legitimate authority. By saying the despot s authority would be legitimate, I
mean that, even though the despot abruptly seized power without the explicit consent of the citizens,
which would then result in a loss of autonomy and negative liberty, the authority is governing the
society justly, so a small amount of their rights must be sacrificed for a better society. I have three
reasons for asserting the legitimate authority of the despot; first, the tacit and hypothetical consent
theories; second, instrumentalism; and third, positive liberty. As mentioned above, my thesis stating
the legitimacy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking this into consideration, the scenario in which an enlightened despot seized power in the UK
and governed it justly, the despot would only have legitimate authority if they have the consent of the
subjects. As obviously stated, the despot governs justly; therefore the society is not tyrannical and
unjust, so there is no coercion and force, and thus the despot would receive the tacit and hypothetical
consent from its subjects. First, the despot would receive the tacit consent from the subjects because,
in the political realm, men have tacitly consented to obey a governments simply by remaining within
its territory (Pitkin1965, p. 995), and thus, because the society is governed justly, the subjects have the
ability to leave whenever they want, so those who remain in the territory give their tacit consent and
obey the government, consequently making the authority legitimate. As you can see, tacit consent
theory is considered the real battle ground for consent theory (Simmons 1976, p. 278), because the
subject can change their mind at anytime. In a similar sense, the authority is legitimate with the
hypothetical consent theory because, as mentioned above, the hypothetical consent theory claims that,
if the authority governs in a way that could be in principle agreed upon by the subjects, then it is
legitimate as long as a government rules in the best interest of it s subjects, which holds true for this
despot because he governs justly, so he s

The Learning Management System ( Lms ) For Teaching And...
There were three sources of data explored in this study. One was the interviews of 24 subjects who
had been teachers of District X since the learning management system, the HUB, had been introduced.
The second form of data used was artifact data from analytics reports from the HUB, and course
information used by teachers for instruction, when necessary. The third form was field notes taken by
the researcher, used to paint a more complete picture of each participant as an individual case and to
gain more insight as to their attitudes and motivations for their innovation adoption decisions. The
information sought was in response to the following research questions (RQs):
RQ1. Of the teachers who have adopted the learning management system (LMS) for teaching and
learning, what is different about those who adopt more quickly than others? (Interview questions #1 2)
RQ2. How has the learning management system been incorporated into teaching and learning in the
classroom? What were the early successes or failures that may have influenced the choice to adopt?
(Interview questions #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
RQ3. What have been current steps toward communication, collaboration and instructional use of the
LMS implementation and adoption phase? What feedback loops exist in order for leadership and end
users to stay informed and work to remove barriers to implementation? (Interview question #6)
RQ4. What other characteristics of this implementation have been unique, or have

The Importance Of Tenure In Education
Tenures refers to an approach which gives educators and teachers a lasting contract, viably
guaranteeing them an assurance of work ... forever. Teachers that have tenure can t be fired from their
duty unless for worthwhile motivation, for example, serious wrongdoing or inadequacy, and still, at
the end of the day ending the tenure can be to a great degree troublesome.
Tenure system picked up in the mid 20th century as a method for shielding teachers from being
terminated for the wrong reasons. In those days, political gathering in office or a racial or individual
inclination could get consummately great instructors sacked; tenure was made to guarantee that
educators didn t experience the ill effects of the whimsical activities of administrators.
Tenure is conceivably oppressive towards the poorest educated pupils in our community as tenured
educators with long service status (and in this manner the most experience) are probably going to
work in the least demanding schools, leaving schools in poor and denied territories to more youthful,
less experienced instructors.
100 years back before modern edge legislation gave rise to equal rights and employment protection
tenure had its place in the teaching system. It shielded helpless instructors from the political impulses
of their administrators and frame the activity of nepotism. Nowadays enactment gives sensible
assurances and tenure is never again required undoubtedly teaching is one of the main callings to give

Geico s Modified Rhetorical Approach
Geico s Modified Rhetorical Approach Geico Insurance Company is known for using humorous and
absurd mascots as a main selling point in their advertisements. Mascots that Geico has used in the past
include the infamous Geico gecko, with the mysterious accent and the Geico caveman who seemed to
be a jack of all trades. Geico has recently taken a new approach to advertising their insurance. Authors
of Geico commercials have recently introduced their newest mascot, Mike McGlone, a well known
actor, to play the role of pompous reporter. Through the use of their new character, Geico is able to
able to reach their target audience of anyone that is uninsured by Geico. Geicos new technique of
advertising is based on a heavy use of the pathos appeal to play on the audience s emotions while
using lesser amounts of ethical and logical appeals. This new strategy has proven to be a very effective
method of marketing. The Geico commercial takes place in a dentist s office where a dentist is
performing a cleaning for a patient while watching television. When a Geico Commercial appears on
the TV, the dentist is seemed surprised to hear that, 15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more on
car insurance . The patient in the room responded as if the information was common knowledge and
that a majority of people would be aware of Geico s 15 minute ad. The patient comment acted as a
confirmation to validate Geico s mission statement. The educated dentist felt foolish in front of his

Research Paper On Ivory
Ivory Is it worth it?
Everyday elephants and rhinos are being poached in order to get their tusks and horns. These tusks
and horns are made of ivory which is sold for very large sums. Many things are being done to stop
poaching but elephants and rhinos are still being poached.
People in Asia mainly China are the main buyers of ivory from illegally poached rhinos and elephants.
The ivory business is a multi million dollar business. They buy elephant tusks for $1,500 per pound.
Rhino horns are $45,000 per pound, or $6,000 for 100 grams. Many things are trying to be done but
there is still illegal ivory trading. There is a near total ban on ivory in the US. The Chinese
government has become stricter so people trade in Vietnam and Laos where there is a less strict
government. The main buyers of ivory are in Asia but people don t want to change their ways so many
people still participate in the business of ivory trading.
Elephants and rhinos are disappearing at an alarming rate due to illegal poaching. Many elephants are
being killed everyday and they could soon be extinct. Tanzania s elephant population decreased by
two thirds and Mozambique s fell by 40%. Elephants have dropped in population from more than 10
million to only 479,000 today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The United States Education System
The United States is considered by many to be a world leader who excels in every arena. In education,
however, the U.S. has fallen behind other countries in Europe and Asia, such as China, Korea, and
Finland. These countries outperform the United States when it comes to education. In order for the
United States to continue to compete in the world economy it has to improve its system of education
to compete in changing times. The United States education system is inferior to many foreign
countries education system based on how U.S. students score on tests compared to students in foreign
countries.
Countries are no longer as isolated as they once were and technology has made communication
instantaneous. Kagan and Stewart point out that globalization is an increasing prominent feature of
contemporary societies ( Kagan and Stewart 185). G. Thomas Houlihan suggests that one of the
problems inherent in the educational system in the United States is the need to balance the American
need to control education at a local level versus the need to produce a national workforce that is
prepared for global competition (Houlihan 217). He sees the second area of concern to be how to
effect a change in direction in low performing schools and those with large achievement gaps between
subgroups of students (Houlihan 217). According to Houlihan, like other nations, the United States
sees education as an investment in the future (Houlihan 217). Unlike other nations, however, the

Progressive Rock 1970s
Progressive rock of the 1970s and the paradox of popular serious art
Progressive rock of the 1970s represents a unique moment in the modern music and culture history;
moment which introduced an atypical association of the highly sophisticated and complicated means
of expression, derived mainly from the area of so called serious art, with the wide popularity,
bordering almost with fashion. American Marxist philosopher and social theorist Bill Martin aptly
named this remarkable phenomenon of progressive rock, which was based on the British rock
experimentalism of the second half of the sixties and which became a global artistic trend in the
following decade, using the paradoxical term popular avant garde .
The proposed conference contribution will present the issue of progressive rock genre in a synthetic
manner and with regard to the mentioned key feature of the juxtaposition of the serious and popular or
high and low art. Apart from the aesthetic and formal aspects, the socio cultural and socio functional
issues will be discussed as well. Particular attention will be paid to the parallels between traditional

the particular social and cultural circumstances. In connection with analytical reflection of progressive
rock the paper will necessarily also touch on the issue of modernist and postmodernist trends in music

Satyam Case
CASE STUDY: MARCH 2012 SEMESTER I. Analyze the case and respond to the following
questions: a) Discuss the earnings management techniques employed by the management of Satyam.
Earning management or creative accounting is referred to the manipulation or misrepresentation of the
company s financial earnings in order to achieve stable and positive financial position. This was
achieve through directly or indirectly use of the accounting methods. Even though the manipulation
may follow all the accounting standards and laws, they may go opposite of what the standards and
laws were originally trying to establish. Therefore, earning management is often considered materially
misleading and referred to a fraudulent activity.

Because of the pressure situation, he finally decided to come into decision to manipulate the company
s earnings and engaged in fraudulent activities.
The other factor that motivated Satyam to manage their earnings is due to the need to maintain a
competitive position within the financial market. Satyam Computer Services is among of the top
leading company in Indian IT industry. If Satyam fails to shows that company is operating in
profitable manner and he discloses the real loss of the company it will cause the investors and public
loss confidence in them. Therefore, they will not be able to place the company s name as the leading
company of IT services and unable to compete with the other top leading IT companies. Because of
this reason, Ramalingam Raju had engaged in fraudulent activities.
In addition, factors that may motivate managers of Satyam want to manage their earnings is because
of their personal gains such as bonus and they might be belief that the laws and regulations can be
easily be bypassed. The managers will be rewarded with bonus if the company shows a high profit. So
in order to get the bonus Satyam was motivated to commit fraud. Since earning management was a
complex techniques that are not easily to trace, this make Satyam feel confident that involving in
earning management will not be caught. But as the consequences, due to too much gap between the
real earnings figures with the reported earnings figures, Satyam was not be able to hide the

The Arguments Against Open Carry On Campus
The arguments against open carry on campus follow the same lines as arguments against concealed
carry on campus. Since open carry as a whole is a relatively new subject in the debate about gun
control, the statistics used will have to be from the concealed carry studies. While these are two
different things, they are fundamentally the same. The major arguments are that it will increase crime,
that the gun could go off on accident and injure someone, a person could also snap and go on a killing
spree, and that there is no need for guns as police already carry and protect the school. The first
argument to look at is that it will increase the crime rate on campus and in the surrounding areas.
According to a peer reviewed study in the Econ Journal Watch, shall issue laws saw an increase in
aggravated assaults between 1977 and 2006. A paper by the National Bureau of Economic Research
also found, between 1977 and 2010, an increase of 2% in murder rates in shall issue states. Criminals
are more likely to carry a gun when they think a potential victim could have one. This is according to
a survey of incarcerated felons by the Inter university Consortium for Political and Social Research in
which 75% of the felons agreed with this mentality. While initial studies would say that open carry
would do more harm than good, similar studies have been published that disagree. Since 2006, Utah
has allowed concealed carry on all of its public campuses. Since 2003, Colorado State

Comparison Of Joseph Stalin And Prague Spring
Glasnost, Joseph Stalin and Prague Spring were influential in bringing or attempting to bring
transformation to Russian society. Some attempts were more successful and unopposed then others.
When establishing transformation of a long standing ideal, it is not always accepted with open arms.
Joseph Stalin was betrayed by Nazi Germany, which in turn created an air of mistrust the government
foreign or otherwise, as well as maintains a chokehold on his country. The consequences of his
mistrust were establishing a brutal regime that wanted to continue the status quo. A new change could
only result by the passage of time and simply letting the old guard die off before new ideas were
reintroduced to Russia. Joseph Stalin (1878 1953) was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist
Republics (USSR) from 1929 to 1953. Under Stalin, the Soviet Union was transformed from a peasant
society into an industrial and military superpower. However, he ruled by terror, and millions of his
own citizens died during his brutal reign. Stalin created a new Russian society but along the way he

wanted to democratise the nation and lessen the stranglehold Moscow had on the nation s affairs. The
Prague Spring ended with a Soviet invasion, the removal of Alexander Dubček as party leader and an
end to reform within Czechoslovakia. Testing the waters for possible transformation of old ideas did
not fair well for the Czechoslovakia dissidents. Yet this did not stop the need for the citizens of Russia

The Enlightenment For Independence And The Enlightenment...
In the eighteenth century, Enlightenment ideas of universal human rights inspired the American and
French Revolutions. Following Napoleon s invasion of Spain, such ideas also ignited independence
movements in Spanish America in the early nineteenth century. Simón Bolívar, the Liberator of much
of Spanish South America, cited Enlightenment ideology to justify independence. In his Cartagena
Manifesto and Jamaica Letter, Bolívar used Enlightenment political ideology to promote criollo¬ led
centralized authority and to inspire criollos to support independence. In his letters, Bolívar
championed criollo led centralized authority rather than decentralized federalism, which he assailed as

Most importantly, such a contract created what Rousseau called the general will, a people s common
interests, which Rousseau charged governments and their people with the responsibilities to uphold
and obey respectively (Friend). Bolívar s criticisms regarding federalism echoed such ideas: by
authorizing self government, the federal system disrupt[ed] social contracts and reduce[d] nations to
anarchy because each province developed and chased its own interests at the expense of a general will
(6). A single authority, however, would be able to enforce or even unite the people under such a
general will (8). Bolívar also pointed to missing political virtues and experience for federalism s
unsuitability in Venezuela, something for which he blamed Spanish rule; thus, his criticism of
federalism also rallied his criollo audience against Spanish rule through Enlightenment rhetoric and
appeals to criollos hostility towards peninsular discrimination. In his Cartagena Manifesto, Bolívar
argued that federalism did not suit Venezuela (nor other Spanish American viceroyalties) because the
Venezuelan people lack[ed] the political virtues which would allow them to exercise their rights and
carry out their civic duties to the fullest measure (7). In his Jamaica Letter, Bolívar explained why: the

Supreme Court Cases on Separation of Church and State Clauses
The United States of America was founded on the basis of religious freedom. Judgment on the legality
of the Separation of Church and State should not be based on one s religion. The phrase Separation of
church and state sometimes known as the wall of separation between church and state, is a phrase used
by Thomas Jefferson in understanding the two clauses of the First Amendment to the Constitution of
the United States: the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. The Establishment Clause
is prohibits the government fro making any laws dealing with religion. As the second clause, The Free
Exercise Clause goes along with the Establishment clause stating that Congress cannot make any law

The American education system is one of the main places of controversy for the Separation of Church
and State. Almost every child in the United States attends some type of school, many of them public
systems. In such a school setting, these children are often exposed to the beliefs of their teachers and
administrators, as well as their own classmates. In Greece, New York, ever since 1999, the town board
has begun their monthly gatherings with prayer. Rev. Lou Sirianni begins his gathering by stating: Be
thou present, O God of wisdom, and direct the councils of this honorable assembly, the prayer ended,
All this we ask in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and our Savior (Wolf 1).
Recently in 2007, two residents who regularly attended board meetings, Susan Galloway and Linda
Stephens, complained that the prayers were promoting more of a Christian community than any other
religion (Masci 3). Although separation of church and state is stated briefly in the First Amendment,
these two ladies had the right to go after the town for not allowing a freedom of religion and for most
importantly throwing religion into a government owned school function. The case was brought to the
Supreme Court in 2007 and is still under debate, with a result hopefully by the end of June 2014. The
question is whether or not this prayer is allowed at a school function. Not everyone is willing to put

The Irrigation Systems At Universities
At universities across America, and especially at a southern school such as Baylor, water is used in
vast amounts each year, leading to large utility bills as well as a high carbon footprint. Therefore the
irrigation systems at universities must be highly efficient in order to not be wasteful. Unfortunately, at
Baylor we have major irrigation issues. The sprinklers overwater areas of the grass, leaving bog like
areas that are unsavory for anyone passing by, and many of the sprinklers rotate too far, therefore
watering large portions of the sidewalks, not only wasting water, but also annoying teachers and
students. If it was possible to reduce the amount of water used by Baylor then it would not only be
able to reduce its yearly utility bill by a substantial amount, but also enables Baylor to be better
stewards of the Earth by saving water and reducing its carbon footprint. In order to save water Baylor
has to make efforts to fix the irrigation system. I propose a that Baylor hires the landscaping crew to
find areas on campus where the grass is being overwater, reduce the amount of water going to those
areas, and also fix the rotation on sprinklers that require readjustment in order to keep the water on the
grass. In regards to the importance of an efficient Baylor irrigation system, Paul Clare, the marketing
manager of Facilities and Energy at Baylor had this to say:
In accordance with its Christian mission and vision, Baylor University strives to be a community that

Energy Is The Material Basis For Human Survival
Energy is the material basis for human survival. The issue of energy is a common concern to all
countries in the world because energy is the driving force of economic development, and is also a key
factor in determining the quality of life. At the same time, the ownership of energy not only affects the
world s political situation but also changes the world peace and tranquility. Energy is closely bound up
with humans daily life. The presence of energy meets the demands of people basic necessities of life

The Death Of Socrates Resides
The Death of Socrates resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is by Jacques Louis David, a
French painter from the eighteenth century. This particular piece was done in 1787 about an event that
occurred 399 BC. Socrates was faced with a legal decision to renounce his teachings or drink a cup of
hemlock, killing himself. Socrates s teachings were hugely influential in Greece at that time and it
sparked recognizable change in Athens particularly. Athenian authority saw his revolutionary thought
as a threat and because of his teaching he refused to renounce his teaching. Even without this knowing
the dramatic story of the great thinker and his demise, David s piece is profoundly striking. The
movement and placement of each character as well as the balance of shape and color provide a certain
attraction to this piece. Additionally, it provides a great example of the intriguing cross between art
and The Academy. David intelligently pays tribute to the height and power of ancient philosophy as
well as modern art and this marriage makes for a greatly impactful piece of art. At first impression, the
movement and layout are the most arresting part of this piece. Socrates, propped up on his deathbed,
appears strong and stoic but at the same time somber and delicate. The anatomic accuracy of Socrates
as well as the other characters provides a geometric structure. Whereas the light suspension of the
different fabrics in the painting provide a soft fluidity and these two

Essay on Environmental Ethics
Ethics is the study of what is right and wrong in human conduct. Environmental ethics studies the
effects of human s moral relationships on the environment and everything within it (Stanford

human duties, obligations, and responsibilities with regard to the Earth s natural environment and all
of the animals and plants that inhabit it (Taylor, 1989). The purpose of this paper is to reveal

These perspectives are anthropocentric or human centered and view all non human life as less
important than humans themselves. Environmental ethics challenges these beliefs by questioning the
assumed moral superiority of human beings to members of other species on earth (SEP, 2008).
Preservation of the environment is essential to the preservation of the human race. Global Warming is
the number one concern threatening the very existence of humans and everything within the
environment today. The human race is to blame for the destruction of the natural world. The
environmental issues that are threatening all human and non human life today, started in the industrial
revolution and the discovery of oil The need to improve the quality of life resulted in the construction
of factories to mass produce products for consumers. These factories were powered by fossil fuels
such as coal, oil and gas. The combustion of these fossil fuels emitted great quantities of pollutants
that remain in the Earths atmosphere to this day and is the number one cause of global warming.
However, in ethics one cannot evaluate just one thing. In ethics, as in nature, everything is connected
to everything else (Partridge, 1998). Deforestation for agricultural purposes and the expansion of
human habitats is happening around the world. This

Killer Bees Essay
The Africanized Honey Bee is actually a variety of honeybee derived by hybridization from African
honeybees naturalized in the western hemisphere. Because they are highly defensive and will attack
perceived intruders more readily than the common European honeybee, they are also known by the
popular name of killer bees.
Brazilian scientists imported African honeybee queens in the 1950 s in order to breed a honeybee for
use in tropical climates. Some swarms escaped into the wild. Because they were highly adapted for
tropical survival and had no natural competitors, they thrived and spread rapidly through South
America, extending their range by as much as 500 km (300 mi) per year. By the 1980s, Africanized ...

The businesses of many beekeepers in Latin American countries have failed as a result of
Africanization of the native hives. Africanized honey bees are not expected to have the same impact in
the United States because of advanced beekeeping technology and climatic limitations on the spread
of the species. Africanization of beehives can be prevented by the annual introduction of new
European queens to each colony. Africanized honeybees have increased the number of human deaths
due to bee stings in Mexico and Argentina and probably in other countries. In the United States,
however, although more people have been stung by bees since 1990, no more bee related deaths than
usual have been recorded.
Conclusions:
The idea of killer bees is one that is created more by the media and misinformation than actual fact.
Killer bees rarely if ever kill a victim. In addition, a killer bee scare in the United States would be
completely unfounded and unnecessary. General precautions that are usually taken with the
domesticated honeybee will suffice in protecting oneself against the Africanized honeybee. The
Africanized honeybee has, for the most part, reached a climatic limitation in the United States and will
not pose a threat to the northern areas of the country. The effect of Africanized honeybees to the
United States is small. Advanced bee keeping methods, precautions, and medical technology negate

Comparing Gilgamesh And Noah s Ark
Many ancient legends recur in different cultures. The general theme gives the same message or just
has striking similarities but each story differs in many aspects. New cultures develop from the older
ones. They do so by taking stories from older ones and further developing it to mirror their own time.
One story that has been repeated in several cultures is the legend of the disastrous flood. The epic of
Gilgamesh and the Bibles Story Noah s Ark have this legend in them but specific details differ on
several occasions. The Epic Of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia that is said to
be the earliest surviving great work of literature hence, the epic was set 5000 years before the Bible,
yet the same situation occurred in the Bible many years later could this mean that the story was passed

Disease Resistance and the Immune Modulatory Effects on...
Numerous studies have assessed the feasibility and effectiveness of supplementing aquafeeds with a
variety of potentially probiotic bacteria, but probably the most well documented are LAB [41]. Among
LAB, lactobacilli strains have been the focus of much interest. Since, the immune system modulation
strongly dependent on the metabolites they produce, such as proteolysis, could release peptides that
may (or may not) interact with immune cells to induce distinct immunomodulatory response [42].
Though only few strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), especially Lactobacillus, have been isolated
from marine environments, their unique characteristics have proved that there is clear potential to use
them as probiotics with advanced health benefits [43]. To the best of our knowledge, the present

Problem Statement On Maintenance Management
1.0: Introduction
The introduction chapter begins with the background to the research project, this looks at maintenance
and its importance to a manufacturing or production environment. This goes on to look at the
formulation of the problem statement which gives an insight into the impact of maintenance on the
production cycle. The problem discussion is therefore narrowed down where the problem formulation
and research question will be presented. Some shortcomings about the research project are also stated
herein.
1.1: Background and Statement of the Problem
The economic downturn and the dynamic business environment drive companies to seek more
efficient and effective maintenance methods (Van Horenbeek et al., 2010). Thus, the increasing
competition in the market creates a need to search new ways in which companies can differentiate
themselves and gain more profit and better competitiveness. To stay competitive and continue to

Whether or Not Quotas for Job Applicant Selection Are a...
In this essay I will consider whether or not quotas for job applicant selection are a solution to racial
inequality in the United States of America. In considering this subject I will rely on In Defense of
Quotas by James Rachels who argues that the use of Quotas is justifiable in certain circumstances.
First I will qualify my use of the word race and clarify what I mean when I reference racial equality.
Then I will present an argument that quotas will not work as the sole solution to racial inequality.
After this I will support a premise for my main argument which is that not all of the races are
equivalently qualified for potentially equivalent jobs. After this I will consider a possible objection to
my argument which is that quotas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus it seems that as Rachels presents them, quotas, although justifiable, most likely would not solve
the inequality of wealth between different groups of people unless groups are equally qualified for
jobs. If this is true, then, although quotas could do some good, they would not make our current
system drastically less biased towards the preference of peoples from majority races. It seems to be the
case that racial groups are not equally qualified for jobs, because further education is a major
qualification for a job and it is not currently the case that different racial groups are equally prepared
for further education after high school. According to a study by Rachel E. Durham and the Baltimore
Education Research Consortium The average person with a bachelor s degree earns almost twice as
much as a high school graduate and nearly triple that of someone who did not finish high school. The
unemployment rate for people with bachelor s degrees is about one third that for non high school
graduates and one half that of high school graduates (Durham). Therefore, it seems to be the case that
if someone is accepted into a college, can pay for college, and can pass all of their college classes,
then, in most cases, that person has, or will have a college degree and therefore a major qualification
for a job. This major qualification for a job can allow its recipient to have access higher paying jobs

The Growth Of Room 40 s Atherosclerosis
The growth of Room 40 s atherosclerosis progressed until an acute arterial occlusion was formed,
which stopped blood flow to the tissue. The atherosclerosis consisted of complicated lesions that led
to a decrease in blood flow and the presence of a thrombus, ultimately resulting in thea lack of blood
flow to the right foot and lower leg. Thrombi often appear after a rupture of an atherosclerotic plaque
(Coneliue, 2014). This lack of blood flow led to necrosis of the tissues in the right foot and lower leg
and ultimately resulted in the need for the AKA.
The obstruction in Room 40 s leg was discovered using a diagnostic arteriogram. An arteriogram is an
image of the interior of blood vessels, such as arteries, by the use of electromagnetic waves. During
this procedure, a dye is injected into the artery revealing any bulges, weakness, lesions or occlusions
of the blood vessel. The ability to see any evidence of a a plaque formation or obstruction within a
vessel makes an arteriogram an effective method for detecting atherosclerosis (Johns Hopkins
Medicine, 2015).
After the obstruction was detected with the arteriogram, the patient underwent percutaneous catheter
directed thrombolytic therapy with alteplase in order to regain blood flow and nutrients to the right

obstruction (National Institute of Health, 2014b). Although the TPA in alteplase will not restore the

We must as Gods people stand against the compromise of reinterpreting Genesis to fit in evolution and

more than just a magic number of years. This debate s significance centers on God s revelation of

begun to question whether or not the earth is young or old? The worst fall out of the argument has
been division in the body of Christ, were many brothers and sisters have held so tightly to their views
causing disunity within the church. Many people now feel that they must choose between science and
sola scriptura. Actually, the choice is not between science and Scripture. A young earth stance can be
both science and Scripture and has more credibility than an old earth because of radioactive testing
has proved to be unreliable and history has been in constant support of young earth until the past 200
years. This paper will displaying the two leading positions in the debate, and then support for

The Ripper Killings
Prior to the Ripper killings, the Metro Police force was created. Even before the killings Women,
especially Prostitutes and women who had jobs of that nature were being discriminated against. In
1888, Jack started to take his stand. He took the lives of prostitutes to show how he was against it and
how he disliked the rise women were trying to take. He mutilated the women and then dumped their
bodies in the area of Whitechapel. These killings taunted the police because of how public they all
were and the letters that were left behind. The police had many, many suspects as to who The Ripper
was, but all of them were deemed innocent. The Ripper made the police look like fools and did it with
elegance.

Jack started with Mary Ann Nichols on August 31st, 1888. He cut her throat and dumped her in the
area of Whitechapel. She was the first of the canonical five victims of the Ripper s murders (Richard
Jones). Next came Annie Chapman on September 8th, 1888. The Ripper brutally mutilated her and
took off with a part of her womb. She was found in the backyard of John Davis, an elderly man who
lived at number 29 Hanbury Street. The third victim was Elizabeth Stride on September 30th, 1888.
She was also left with a cut throat, but the rest of her wasn t touched. This lead to speculation that her
killer or The Ripper had been interrupted. The fourth victim was Catherine Eddowes who was also
killed on September 30th, 1888. This killing was much more violent than the other that had happened
that day. Her face had been mutilated and the killer had run off with her left kidney and her uterus.
The fifth victim of these five that were heavily speculated to be The Ripper was Mary Kelly. She was
murdered on November 9th, 1888. The Ripper had skinned her almost to the bone and left her in

Social Acceptance In Death Of A Salesman
In Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman, through the character of Linda Loman, the author
suggests that one s status (Social Acceptance, Employment/Work) is a main contributor to one s
success. When Linda totals the amount they owe in bills and Willy worries about the business he says,
Oh I ll knock em dead next week. I ll go to Hartford. I m well liked in Hartford. You know, the trouble
is, Linda, people don t seem to take to me (23). Here, Miller confirms and proves that Willy is
constantly worrying about his social status and how others view him. Universally all humans worry
about their status and just like Willy some blame their lack of success on the fact that they are not
liked by society. Furthermore, when Willy is talking

The Causes Of Embarrassment And Brain Pruning In The Human...
For decades, the human brain has been one of the most complex organs found in our body. Scientists
all around the world are always trying to find new information as to how this special organ works and
all the affects it has on people. The brain has its own way of developing and changing as it grows, and
many scientists and researchers find that as the brain grows in our teen years, there are a lot of reasons
behind embarrassment and brain pruning. Embarrassment is a feeling of self consciousness, shame, or
awkwardness caused by hormones, while brain pruning is extra neurons and synaptic connections that
are eliminated in order to increase the efficiency of neuronal transmissions. Each text discusses a
different relationship between behavior and the brain, which are embarrassment and pruning. Two
major differences between embarrassment and brain pruning are what goes on in the brain that causes
these activations and the age at which they occur. One pivotal difference is what goes on in the brain
during embarrassment and brain pruning and how they each occur. To begin with, embarrassment
deals with hormones. These hormones that get released into the brain cause many imbalances and
trigger embarrassment. From passage 1, Embarrassed? Blame Your Brain by Jennifer Connor Smith
states, This imbalance means even small problems, like tripping in the hallway, can trigger a wave of
embarrassment . This shows that the disproportion of hormones in the brain cause

Separatist Movement of Quebec Canada
Quebec Separatist Movement
The Canadian confederation brought promise and opportunity to a newly independent nation, this
nation consisted of Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Quebec. As the only province in
Canada with a French speaking minority Quebec faced discrimination and anguish. Its individuals
often felt forced to assimilate to English culture causing conflict between the English and French
communities. Throughout Canadian history it has been difficult for Quebec to attain the treatment it
deserved. It is a result of this treatment that Quebec has previously attempted two referendums for
separation. Quebec should not separate from Canada. Quebec, despite being one of the founding
provinces wants independence from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quebec continued this pursuit for special treatment at the Charlotte Town accord and Meech Lake
accord but neither was successful. In 1995 Quebec held another referendum to separate; failing with
no majority.
A noteworthy reasoning why Quebec wants to separate from Canada is the abundance of natural
resources and hydro energy. If Quebec were to separate, then they would be able to sustain themselves
economically. It would be difficult severing all economic ties with Canada, including the dollar;
however with time and the large work force that Quebec has it would not take long for them to create
revenue. Maintaining the Canadian currency would be ideal for Quebec although without it, Quebec
though it would be difficult is capable of self sufficiency.
It is understandable that Quebec has had difficult past within Canada and although the idea of
separation may sound pleasing, there is the issue of whether it is even possible. As part of Canada,
Quebec is subject to the constitution despite not signing it; which means Quebec must abide to all the
regulations of the constitution in order to separate. Currently the constitution does not allow for
Quebec to have the legal right to separate. In order for that to

Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener Essay
Bartleby The Scrivener In Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener , the author uses several themes
to convey his ideas. The three most important themes are alienation, man s desire to have a free
conscience, and man s desire to avoid conflict. Melville uses the actions of an eccentric scrivener
named Bartleby, and the responses of his cohorts, to show these underlying themes to the reader. The
first theme, alienation, is displayed best by Bartleby s actions. He has a divider put up so that the other
scriveners cannot see him, while all of them have desks out in the open so they are full view of each
other, as well as the narrator. This caused discourse with all of the others in the office. This is proven
when Turkey exclaims, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator went to great lengths to avoid a confrontation. When Bartleby refused to leave the office
after being fired, the narrator chose to move his office to a different location instead of removing the
eccentric man by force. The narrator informs the reader of this idea when he says, No more then.
Since he will not quit me, I must quit him. I will change my offices. (2422) By doing so, the narrator
displays just how far man is sometimes willing to go to avoid conflict. The final theme is man s desire
to have a free conscience. Melville reveals this theme through the actions of the narrator as well as the
new tenants of the office. The narrator attempts to appease his conscience by giving Bartleby money
above his wages when he fired him. The new tenants of the office try to put the responsibility of
dealing with Bartleby back on the narrator, but they are denied and eventually have the man removed
from the premises by law officers. Herman Melville uses the actions and reactions of the characters in
Bartleby the Scrivener to disclose three important themes, alienation, man s desire to avoid conflict,
and man s desire to keep a free conscience. In doing so, he gives us an inside look into the workings of
the human mind. The reader is left with the impression that all people, including lawyers, have
compassion for other humans, and at some point, that

Raymond Carter s Popular Mechanics
The world works around how people speak. Raymond Carter s Popular Mechanics takes this rule and
gives it a new meaning. At first glance, one might think that the man in the story is said to use all of
his might to rip the child apart with the woman. As the woman teases the father, telling him he will not
have the baby, while they both have custody of the baby, the father is said to pull at the baby and harm
him , as the mother is also said to grip the baby s wrist and be hysteric. That is just what we are able to
read, but there is always something else when we look at it in a new view. Although the adult s
aggressive behavior proves that the child dies as a result of the parent s fight, the particular way in
which Carver describes the parent s actions proves that the child survives. ... Show more content on

pulled himself away. The mother knows the condition of the baby, and sees this before her own eyes.
So, with her frenzy, she can stop the action of the baby being pulled, by letting go. Throughout the
story, she repeats often You re hurting the baby. She caught the baby around the wrist and leaned back.
Is a simple sentence that can prove she only lightly touched the baby, which did not harm the

My Mother
At the request of this prompt (A), I have concluded that the person whom I truly admire, whom I am
most inspired as well as most influenced by is ultimately my Mother. I came to this conclusion as my
Mother represents an immense purpose, that strength and beauty can arise from struggles, that one in
hard times can arise to succeed. My Mother s life story symbolizes one of many morals and life
learning themes that it was her struggle and hardships that gave her beauty. My mother had
experienced a lot of difficulties in the process of growing up, either due to her polish or American
experience. Yet my mother s story exclaims that if she hadn t experienced a life in vain, then she
would not have been the person she is today. My Mother had shown me that hardships and struggles
ultimately make you whom you are, as I must face and look past turbulence and obstacles, which
block me from the light and success. I, Giovanni Dama, believe that my mother is whom I truly
admire above many. I in firmly intend to follow my mother s ideals and her attitude of strength and
glory, to never give up in any scenario, no matter what challenges I must reach and be greater than.
My mother, Anna Dama, had experienced a path of hardships as my mother came to America for hope
and opportunity. My mother had migrated to the united states of America as her father and siblings
have already done so. Yet, my had came here tan age of 20 years old, making the relocation to
America an ultimate challenge.

Flat Tax System Essays
The current tax system is extremely complicated and punishes those who are successful by taxing
people more than the average citizens. If flat tax were to be in the United States it would create
fairness within the economy and be less complicated. Flat tax would not punish people for having
higher income; instead flat tax would create equality to all tax payers. The taxpayers would not be
complaining to the neighbors or their close relatives about their tax rates and how different they are
from each other. Despite the fact that federal employees would be out of jobs, the United States should
have flat tax implemented because flat tax spans all income brackets of taxpayers and would have low
rates with no deductions or exemptions. A flat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People can have more of what they earn and not worry about getting taxed too much. Even though,
flat tax will have federal employees out of jobs it is still a good idea to have flat tax. Flat tax is good
because in addition to the income tax, the federal government imposes payroll tax, death tax, and a
slew of excises. The New Flat Tax replaces them all for individuals, families, and businesses with one
tax system with one tax rate of roughly 28 percent (The New Flat Tax: Encourages Growth and Job
Creation). This is a good because they pay more attention on people and their family and where they
work. Flat tax is also good because the new flat tax retains the Earned Income Credit to preserve the
level of income support for low wage workers. And low and middle income families also receive a tax
credit of $3,000 ($2,500 for singles) toward the purchase of health insurance (The New Flat Tax:
Encourages Growth and Job Creation). This is good because people who need to go to the doctor or
get medication can help them with the extra money they have. The most important reason is flat tax
would give taxpayers incentive to earn more because they would not be penalized with a higher tax
bracket. Flat tax encourages economic growth by avoiding a system in which you are penalized in
higher taxes for being productive and earning more money (Mitchell). This supports it because people
get to keep more of their money when they work for it

  • 2. Pro Death Penalty Speech Good day ladies and gentlemen. I would like to thank all of you for coming out today and hope you are all enjoying the croissants and Starbuck s coffee provided as a courtesy of your great state. Please allow me to introduce myself before we get started. My name is Slick Perry and if you didn t already know, I am the state governor of Texas. You are all aware that we are reviewing our recidivism rate to various crimes and reviewing our stance regarding the death penalty as we approach 2009. Everyone here understands that capital punishment is a very controversial topic in the United States. In Texas, from December 1982 through August 2008, only 361 criminals of the millions of Texans in our good state were executed for the wickedest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keep in my mind that in Texas only the most vial and cruel criminals are placed on death row, and, who are the most deserving. The consequences of the Supreme Court s 1972 ruling voided 40 death penalty statutes, thereby commuting the sentences of 629 death row inmates around the country, 45 from Texas and suspending the death penalty because existing statutes were no longer valid. However, this ruling went against the U.S. public majority where, in fact, over 55% of U.S. citizens were in favor of the death penalty. Some states rewrote their death penalty laws to address the unconstitutionality of giving juries complete discretion in sentencing by setting a mandated capital punishment for those convicted of capital crimes. The Supreme Court ruled in Woodson v. North Carolina (1976) this was also unconstitutional. A different approach by some states was to introduce mitigating and aggravating factors when determining sentencing where, in 1976, the Supreme Court ultimately approved. The Supreme Court also held that the death penalty itself was once again constitutional under the Eighth Amendment allowing states a new dawn for a better society. On January 17, 1977, the suspension of the death penalty officially ended with the execution of Gary Gilmore in Utah, by firing squad, and that same year the introduction and use of the new kinder gentler lethal injection was ... • 4. Analysis Of Le Chinois Galant Le Chinois Galant Le Chinois Galant, is a breathtaking oil painting that was created by a famous artist in the 18th century of the name Francois Boucher. This stunning painting conveys the modern era that is of china. This canvas of which this painting was painted on was fitted onto a Rococo frame as seen in The David Collection located at Copenhagen, Denmark; that was photographed by Pernille Klemp. The dimensions for the canvas are forty one inches by fifty seven inches. In this art piece oil paint was used on linen canvas to help create different shades of blue color, adding not only more of a vibrant effect but also portraying a mood to the painting. By applying the oil paint, it gave the benefit of making the surface of the painting more smooth. The smoothness of the paint reflected gave more contrast to the painting. The subject manifested within the painting is one in which a man is courting the woman to ultimately making love to one another. It seems as though the man and woman are in a garden that is quiet and contained within the garden is a statue of Buddha hinting at possibly the loss of innocence. The main purpose of Francois Boucher s canvas, Le Chinois Galant, was to demonstrate the cultural influence of the Chinese on the European after both cultures started trading goods in beginning of the fifteenth century. In Le Chinois Galant many type of formal elements that clearly displayed with the help of different principles of designs incorporated in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Human Trafficking Is Today s Version Of Slavery We Are People Human trafficking is today s version of slavery. Victims are forced into labor, prostitution, and other exploitations. In 2007 three brothers conspired together to trafficked women from Mexico to New York, Queens. The brothers threatened, assaulted, and psychologically coerced the young women and minors into prostitution. These men were committed to sex trafficking that one of the brothers, Victor Leonel Estrada Tepal, forced his wife, who was only seventeen at the time, into their sex trafficking trade. The brothers did not tell the women the real truth of why they were taking them to the United States. In January 2014 the three brothers were arrested and in 2015 they plead guilty to sex trafficking through the use of force, fraud, and coercion of the young women. The brothers are facing a minimum of fifteen years in prison to a life sentence in prison. According to HSI Special Agent in Charge Hayes, These men preyed on innocent women, luring them into the United States under false pretenses and then cruelly enslaving them to satisfy their own greed in a ruthless prostitution scheme ( Justice News ). These men are only one example of human traffickers. Human trafficking is a globally wide problem and countries are not working together to end this issue. Society should focus on achieving international human rights and promote an internal standard of laws against human trafficking. Although Utilitarians argue we should maximize happiness of the majority by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Life Of Jesus Christ And Paul The Apostle The Life of Jesus Christ and Paul the Apostle The Survey of the New Testament course covered a vast amount of material. A person with no knowledge of the Bible could absorb a wealth of sacred information. Jesus Christ and Paul the Apostle covered a great amount of material in the New Testament. Throughout this paper, I discuss the life of Jesus Christ and the life of Paul the Apostle and their extraordinary missions they accomplished that led to faith in Christianity. The Life of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ had a remarkable life with a mission to spread the good word of God. A few of Jesus apostles wrote historical gospels of Jesus life; some of this information includes His beginning, His teaching, His sacrifice, and His resurrection. In the Beginning The Bible contains scripture and prophecy of Jesus before and after His birth. In the beginning, some of historical topics included His genealogy, His learning, His baptism, His test, and His declaration as the Messiah. Jesus birth Virgin Mary conceived the Son of God by the Holy Spirit while engaged to Joseph the son of David. An angle came to Joseph and explained Mary s conception through the Holy Spirit; and told him to take Mary as his wife, and he must name the baby boy Jesus. The prophecy of Jesus virgin birth was in the New International Version, Isaiah 7:14, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and in Luke 4:21 this prophesy fulfilled. Prophecy was foretold in Micah 5:2, of Jesus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Race And Gender And Race The idea of race and gender is an idea that has been socially constructed. Society has created roles for race and gender, they are determined by what society thinks is appropriate for the gender or race. Some people argue that certain behavior roles are based on gender where as others may believe that it is based on race. I will first discuss how in today s society we promote to stop racism yet it is still happening everyday, and people are just blind to see it. Creating a role for race is racism, some people do not understand that. I will then talk about gender, how it is socially constructed, and labeling roles for men and women. I will also discuss how race and gender intersect in the formation of identities. How gender and race is socially constructed, us people have the power to change it but we use our power to look past it and pretend like it does not exist. Majority of society has been blinded to the fact gender and racial roles do not exist, society has created it and now we think it is the norm. Race is a concept that differentiates people based on human bodies. There is no biological basis for racial classification. Classifying people based on the colour of their skin is being racist. Many people are aware of this, yet every day people are being judged based on the colour of their skin. We are being racist without even noticing it. For instance, when driving on the road and there is a bad driver ahead, we automatically assume the driver is Asian.. Asian s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of Yo-Yo Ma And Ethan Watters It is okay to have a different view of knowledge. It is also okay to think one subject should be taught more then another subject. In Yo Yo Ma and Ethan Watters essays, they both talked about different subjects they feel should be taught more heavily in our school systems. While Ma focused more on the arts and music, Watters focused on the science portion of education. Both had different views and reasons they felt their subject should be taught more. Neither are wrong and they both viewed their subjects well. Well I think both are equally valuable, some feel more science should be taught heavier, while others agree with Ma and think art should be heavier taught. The arts for Ma was the focus of his Essay. Antonio Damasio, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Empathy is a huge factor in the arts. Not only do they teach us that there is something bigger that connects each of us but also it can help us engage instead of avoiding. Yo Yo Ma claims Empathy is your capacity to imagine what someone else is going through; what they are thinking, feeling, and perceiving (259). Ma feels that empathetical thinking is missing in education today. I feel that although STEM is working well in school systems so far, I also think that schools are pushing STEM too heavy. 10 years ago, the arts were a bigger deal in schools. More kids were involved in band, choir, and even musicals. Now a day I think that kids think they are too cool to be involved in the arts because they feel that they will get made fun of or they won t have as many friends. I believe that the arts can help students stimulate brain activity and help children do better in school. The arts can be more than just music, it is also just art itself which helps promote creativity. Watters essays starts off with a study done by Henrich that looks at isolated cultures and how they relate to the west for some basic instincts on fairness. Henrich believed he would find that all humans share the same cognitive machinery. While doing his experiment, the ultimatum game, Henrich found that Americans were more likely to split the amount of money 50/50. God, that is one candy coated honeybunny. # 14 Situation: Quentin Jacobsen and his friend Ben are trying to get him a date for prom. They were in the hallway looking at Margo Roth Spiegelman, a girl who lives in Quentin s neighbourhood. Analysis: In this passage, Quentin and his friend, Ben are trying to call a girl by a slang term candy coated honeybunny. This passage can be offensive to a girl and is inappropriate for age group. Big, ugly homes for big, ugly people . #47 Situation: This dialogue is by Quentin, he says this to Margo while they were passing near Casavilla and then Quentin says to stop the car to Margo in Casavilla. By saying, Spanish style homes with red tile roof and later saying Big, ugly homes for big, ugly people . I think author has this paragraph by him, so we can know how he thinks about rich people and about other tradition. And that wall, that steel strong wall he d built around his heart and emotion came tumbling down. Crashing in a haze of love, hate and anger. Years of work, undone in seconds just by looking at her. • 12. The Legitimate Authority of a Despot in the UK I will advance the thesis, if an enlightened despot seized power in the UK, and governed it justly, then the despot would have legitimate authority. By saying the despot s authority would be legitimate, I mean that, even though the despot abruptly seized power without the explicit consent of the citizens, which would then result in a loss of autonomy and negative liberty, the authority is governing the society justly, so a small amount of their rights must be sacrificed for a better society. I have three reasons for asserting the legitimate authority of the despot; first, the tacit and hypothetical consent theories; second, instrumentalism; and third, positive liberty. As mentioned above, my thesis stating the legitimacy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking this into consideration, the scenario in which an enlightened despot seized power in the UK and governed it justly, the despot would only have legitimate authority if they have the consent of the subjects. As obviously stated, the despot governs justly; therefore the society is not tyrannical and unjust, so there is no coercion and force, and thus the despot would receive the tacit and hypothetical consent from its subjects. First, the despot would receive the tacit consent from the subjects because, in the political realm, men have tacitly consented to obey a governments simply by remaining within its territory (Pitkin1965, p. 995), and thus, because the society is governed justly, the subjects have the ability to leave whenever they want, so those who remain in the territory give their tacit consent and obey the government, consequently making the authority legitimate. As you can see, tacit consent theory is considered the real battle ground for consent theory (Simmons 1976, p. 278), because the subject can change their mind at anytime. In a similar sense, the authority is legitimate with the hypothetical consent theory because, as mentioned above, the hypothetical consent theory claims that, if the authority governs in a way that could be in principle agreed upon by the subjects, then it is legitimate as long as a government rules in the best interest of it s subjects, which holds true for this despot because he governs justly, so he s ... • 13. The Learning Management System ( Lms ) For Teaching And... There were three sources of data explored in this study. One was the interviews of 24 subjects who had been teachers of District X since the learning management system, the HUB, had been introduced. The second form of data used was artifact data from analytics reports from the HUB, and course information used by teachers for instruction, when necessary. The third form was field notes taken by the researcher, used to paint a more complete picture of each participant as an individual case and to gain more insight as to their attitudes and motivations for their innovation adoption decisions. The information sought was in response to the following research questions (RQs): RQ1. Of the teachers who have adopted the learning management system (LMS) for teaching and learning, what is different about those who adopt more quickly than others? (Interview questions #1 2) RQ2. How has the learning management system been incorporated into teaching and learning in the classroom? What were the early successes or failures that may have influenced the choice to adopt? (Interview questions #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) RQ3. What have been current steps toward communication, collaboration and instructional use of the LMS implementation and adoption phase? What feedback loops exist in order for leadership and end users to stay informed and work to remove barriers to implementation? (Interview question #6) RQ4. What other characteristics of this implementation have been unique, or have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Importance Of Tenure In Education Tenures refers to an approach which gives educators and teachers a lasting contract, viably guaranteeing them an assurance of work ... forever. Teachers that have tenure can t be fired from their duty unless for worthwhile motivation, for example, serious wrongdoing or inadequacy, and still, at the end of the day ending the tenure can be to a great degree troublesome. Tenure system picked up in the mid 20th century as a method for shielding teachers from being terminated for the wrong reasons. In those days, political gathering in office or a racial or individual inclination could get consummately great instructors sacked; tenure was made to guarantee that educators didn t experience the ill effects of the whimsical activities of administrators. Tenure is conceivably oppressive towards the poorest educated pupils in our community as tenured educators with long service status (and in this manner the most experience) are probably going to work in the least demanding schools, leaving schools in poor and denied territories to more youthful, less experienced instructors. 100 years back before modern edge legislation gave rise to equal rights and employment protection tenure had its place in the teaching system. It shielded helpless instructors from the political impulses of their administrators and frame the activity of nepotism. Nowadays enactment gives sensible assurances and tenure is never again required undoubtedly teaching is one of the main callings to give this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Authors of Geico commercials have recently introduced their newest mascot, Mike McGlone, a well known actor, to play the role of pompous reporter. Through the use of their new character, Geico is able to able to reach their target audience of anyone that is uninsured by Geico. Geicos new technique of advertising is based on a heavy use of the pathos appeal to play on the audience s emotions while using lesser amounts of ethical and logical appeals. This new strategy has proven to be a very effective method of marketing. The Geico commercial takes place in a dentist s office where a dentist is performing a cleaning for a patient while watching television. When a Geico Commercial appears on the TV, the dentist is seemed surprised to hear that, 15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more on car insurance . In education, however, the U.S. has fallen behind other countries in Europe and Asia, such as China, Korea, and Finland. These countries outperform the United States when it comes to education. In order for the United States to continue to compete in the world economy it has to improve its system of education to compete in changing times. The United States education system is inferior to many foreign countries education system based on how U.S. students score on tests compared to students in foreign countries. Kagan and Stewart point out that globalization is an increasing prominent feature of contemporary societies ( Kagan and Stewart 185). G. Thomas Houlihan suggests that one of the problems inherent in the educational system in the United States is the need to balance the American need to control education at a local level versus the need to produce a national workforce that is prepared for global competition (Houlihan 217). He sees the second area of concern to be how to effect a change in direction in low performing schools and those with large achievement gaps between subgroups of students (Houlihan 217). While these are two different things, they are fundamentally the same. The major arguments are that it will increase crime, that the gun could go off on accident and injure someone, a person could also snap and go on a killing spree, and that there is no need for guns as police already carry and protect the school. The consequences of his mistrust were establishing a brutal regime that wanted to continue the status quo. In his Cartagena Manifesto and Jamaica Letter, Bolívar used Enlightenment political ideology to promote criollo¬ led centralized authority and to inspire criollos to support independence. A single authority, however, would be able to enforce or even unite the people under such a general will (8). Bolívar also pointed to missing political virtues and experience for federalism s unsuitability in Venezuela, something for which he blamed Spanish rule; thus, his criticism of federalism also rallied his criollo audience against Spanish rule through Enlightenment rhetoric and appeals to criollos hostility towards peninsular discrimination. In his Cartagena Manifesto, Bolívar argued that federalism did not suit Venezuela (nor other Spanish American viceroyalties) because the Venezuelan people lack[ed] the political virtues which would allow them to exercise their rights and carry out their civic duties to the fullest measure (7). The Irrigation Systems At Universities At universities across America, and especially at a southern school such as Baylor, water is used in vast amounts each year, leading to large utility bills as well as a high carbon footprint. Therefore the irrigation systems at universities must be highly efficient in order to not be wasteful. Unfortunately, at Baylor we have major irrigation issues. The sprinklers overwater areas of the grass, leaving bog like areas that are unsavory for anyone passing by, and many of the sprinklers rotate too far, therefore watering large portions of the sidewalks, not only wasting water, but also annoying teachers and students. If it was possible to reduce the amount of water used by Baylor then it would not only be able to reduce its yearly utility bill by a substantial amount, but also enables Baylor to be better stewards of the Earth by saving water and reducing its carbon footprint. In order to save water Baylor has to make efforts to fix the irrigation system. I propose a that Baylor hires the landscaping crew to find areas on campus where the grass is being overwater, reduce the amount of water going to those areas, and also fix the rotation on sprinklers that require readjustment in order to keep the water on the grass. Socrates s teachings were hugely influential in Greece at that time and it sparked recognizable change in Athens particularly. Athenian authority saw his revolutionary thought as a threat and because of his teaching he refused to renounce his teaching. Since, the immune system modulation strongly dependent on the metabolites they produce, such as proteolysis, could release peptides that may (or may not) interact with immune cells to induce distinct immunomodulatory response [42]. Though only few strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), especially Lactobacillus, have been isolated from marine environments, their unique characteristics have proved that there is clear potential to use them as probiotics with advanced health benefits [43]. To the best of our knowledge, the present investigation was the first report on disease resistance and the immune modulatory effects on Nile Tilapia using dietary supplemented with marine LAB. Therefore, the present work selected the most promising marine LAB isolated from Egyptian marine samples and evaluated its effect(s) on innate immunity and disease resistance of Nile Tilapia fish during 50 days feeding trial. Based on the physiological characteristics, using API 50 CHL, it is pointed out that the selected isolate R1 is Lactobacillus plantarum. Furthermore, antimicrobial activities induced by Lb. plantarum against the fish pathogen, A. hydrophila, could be attributed to the fact that lactobacillus bacteria can be stimulated to ... • 38. Problem Statement On Maintenance Management 1.0: Introduction The introduction chapter begins with the background to the research project, this looks at maintenance and its importance to a manufacturing or production environment. This goes on to look at the formulation of the problem statement which gives an insight into the impact of maintenance on the production cycle. The problem discussion is therefore narrowed down where the problem formulation and research question will be presented. Some shortcomings about the research project are also stated herein. 1.1: Background and Statement of the Problem The economic downturn and the dynamic business environment drive companies to seek more efficient and effective maintenance methods (Van Horenbeek et al., 2010). Thus, the increasing competition in the market creates a need to search new ways in which companies can differentiate themselves and gain more profit and better competitiveness. To stay competitive and continue to produce profitably mining industries are always looking for ways to continuously improve and optimise their production processes especially when faced with falling or depressed metal prices as well as stiff global competition. • 40. Whether or Not Quotas for Job Applicant Selection Are a... In this essay I will consider whether or not quotas for job applicant selection are a solution to racial inequality in the United States of America. In considering this subject I will rely on In Defense of Quotas by James Rachels who argues that the use of Quotas is justifiable in certain circumstances. First I will qualify my use of the word race and clarify what I mean when I reference racial equality. Then I will present an argument that quotas will not work as the sole solution to racial inequality. After this I will support a premise for my main argument which is that not all of the races are equivalently qualified for potentially equivalent jobs. After this I will consider a possible objection to my argument which is that quotas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus it seems that as Rachels presents them, quotas, although justifiable, most likely would not solve the inequality of wealth between different groups of people unless groups are equally qualified for jobs. If this is true, then, although quotas could do some good, they would not make our current system drastically less biased towards the preference of peoples from majority races. It seems to be the case that racial groups are not equally qualified for jobs, because further education is a major qualification for a job and it is not currently the case that different racial groups are equally prepared for further education after high school. According to a study by Rachel E. Durham and the Baltimore Education Research Consortium The average person with a bachelor s degree earns almost twice as much as a high school graduate and nearly triple that of someone who did not finish high school. The unemployment rate for people with bachelor s degrees is about one third that for non high school graduates and one half that of high school graduates (Durham). Therefore, it seems to be the case that if someone is accepted into a college, can pay for college, and can pass all of their college classes, then, in most cases, that person has, or will have a college degree and therefore a major qualification for a job. This major qualification for a job can allow its recipient to have access higher paying jobs and to have a lower rate of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Growth Of Room 40 s Atherosclerosis The growth of Room 40 s atherosclerosis progressed until an acute arterial occlusion was formed, which stopped blood flow to the tissue. The atherosclerosis consisted of complicated lesions that led to a decrease in blood flow and the presence of a thrombus, ultimately resulting in thea lack of blood flow to the right foot and lower leg. Thrombi often appear after a rupture of an atherosclerotic plaque (Coneliue, 2014). This lack of blood flow led to necrosis of the tissues in the right foot and lower leg and ultimately resulted in the need for the AKA. The obstruction in Room 40 s leg was discovered using a diagnostic arteriogram. An arteriogram is an image of the interior of blood vessels, such as arteries, by the use of electromagnetic waves. During this procedure, a dye is injected into the artery revealing any bulges, weakness, lesions or occlusions of the blood vessel. The ability to see any evidence of a a plaque formation or obstruction within a vessel makes an arteriogram an effective method for detecting atherosclerosis (Johns Hopkins Medicine, 2015). After the obstruction was detected with the arteriogram, the patient underwent percutaneous catheter directed thrombolytic therapy with alteplase in order to regain blood flow and nutrients to the right foot and lower leg. This choice of therapy is chosen with the goal to quickly dissolve the arterial obstruction (National Institute of Health, 2014b). Although the TPA in alteplase will not restore the damaged or ... A Debate On God s Revelation Of God We must as Gods people stand against the compromise of reinterpreting Genesis to fit in evolution and millions of years, which undermines biblical authority. Ultimately, what s at stake in this debate is more than just a magic number of years. This debate s significance centers on God s revelation of Himself in Scripture and whether Scripture is relevant today or not. This issue has only become a debate in the last couple hundred years. Before the Enlightenment, people in Western cultures accepted the young earth view because the scriptural account of creation was interpreted literally. Now ideas crashing with other ideas, Hebrew words are being tossed and turned. Moreover with the continued cross examining of Scripture and with the new discoveries made in science, Christian have begun to question whether or not the earth is young or old? The worst fall out of the argument has been division in the body of Christ, were many brothers and sisters have held so tightly to their views causing disunity within the church. Many people now feel that they must choose between science and sola scriptura. Actually, the choice is not between science and Scripture. A young earth stance can be both science and Scripture and has more credibility than an old earth because of radioactive testing has proved to be unreliable and history has been in constant support of young earth until the past 200 years. • 45. The Causes Of Embarrassment And Brain Pruning In The Human... For decades, the human brain has been one of the most complex organs found in our body. Scientists all around the world are always trying to find new information as to how this special organ works and all the affects it has on people. The brain has its own way of developing and changing as it grows, and many scientists and researchers find that as the brain grows in our teen years, there are a lot of reasons behind embarrassment and brain pruning. Embarrassment is a feeling of self consciousness, shame, or awkwardness caused by hormones, while brain pruning is extra neurons and synaptic connections that are eliminated in order to increase the efficiency of neuronal transmissions. Each text discusses a different relationship between behavior and the brain, which are embarrassment and pruning. Two major differences between embarrassment and brain pruning are what goes on in the brain that causes these activations and the age at which they occur. One pivotal difference is what goes on in the brain during embarrassment and brain pruning and how they each occur. To begin with, embarrassment deals with hormones. These hormones that get released into the brain cause many imbalances and trigger embarrassment. From passage 1, Embarrassed? Blame Your Brain by Jennifer Connor Smith states, This imbalance means even small problems, like tripping in the hallway, can trigger a wave of embarrassment . This shows that the disproportion of hormones in the brain cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quebec continued this pursuit for special treatment at the Charlotte Town accord and Meech Lake accord but neither was successful. In 1995 Quebec held another referendum to separate; failing with no majority. A noteworthy reasoning why Quebec wants to separate from Canada is the abundance of natural resources and hydro energy. If Quebec were to separate, then they would be able to sustain themselves economically. It would be difficult severing all economic ties with Canada, including the dollar; however with time and the large work force that Quebec has it would not take long for them to create revenue. The three most important themes are alienation, man s desire to have a free conscience, and man s desire to avoid conflict. Melville uses the actions of an eccentric scrivener named Bartleby, and the responses of his cohorts, to show these underlying themes to the reader. The first theme, alienation, is displayed best by Bartleby s actions. He has a divider put up so that the other scriveners cannot see him, while all of them have desks out in the open so they are full view of each other, as well as the narrator. The narrator informs the reader of this idea when he says, No more then. Since he will not quit me, I must quit him. I will change my offices. (2422) By doing so, the narrator displays just how far man is sometimes willing to go to avoid conflict. The final theme is man s desire to have a free conscience. Melville reveals this theme through the actions of the narrator as well as the new tenants of the office. The narrator attempts to appease his conscience by giving Bartleby money above his wages when he fired him. The new tenants of the office try to put the responsibility of dealing with Bartleby back on the narrator, but they are denied and eventually have the man removed from the premises by law officers. Herman Melville uses the actions and reactions of the characters in Bartleby the Scrivener to disclose three important themes, alienation, man s desire to avoid conflict, and man s desire to keep a free conscience. The taxpayers would not be complaining to the neighbors or their close relatives about their tax rates and how different they are from each other. A flat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People can have more of what they earn and not worry about getting taxed too much. Even though, flat tax will have federal employees out of jobs it is still a good idea to have flat tax. Flat tax is good because in addition to the income tax, the federal government imposes payroll tax, death tax, and a slew of excises. The New Flat Tax replaces them all for individuals, families, and businesses with one tax system with one tax rate of roughly 28 percent (The New Flat Tax: Encourages Growth and Job Creation). This is a good because they pay more attention on people and their family and where they work. Flat tax is also good because the new flat tax retains the Earned Income Credit to preserve the level of income support for low wage workers. And low and middle income families also receive a tax credit of $3,000 ($2,500 for singles) toward the purchase of health insurance (The New Flat Tax: Encourages Growth and Job Creation). This is good because people who need to go to the doctor or get medication can help them with the extra money they have. The most important reason is flat tax would give taxpayers incentive to earn more because they would not be penalized with a higher tax bracket. Flat tax encourages economic growth by avoiding a system in which you are penalized in higher taxes for being productive and earning more money (Mitchell).
