H.B. Fuller is Not Morally Responsible for the Addiction of Street Children to its Resistol Products
1.In your judgment, is H.B. Fuller morally responsible for the addiction of street children to its
Resistol products? In my opinion, H.B. Fuller is not morally responsible for the addiction of street
children to its Resistol products. A corporationis morally responsible only for those acts and their
foreseen injurious effects: (a) which the corporation knowingly and freely performed or brought
about and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or prevent and/or (b)
which the person knowingly and freely failed to perform or prevent and which it was morally

Do you agree or disagree with the statement that the social condition in Honduras and Guatemala
are responsible for misuse of H.B. Fuller s products and that neither the products nor the company
is to blame? The social condition is certainly a main cause; but it does not necessarily take all of
the causal blame. Not only does the social condition factor into the misuse of Fuller s products but
also does the economic factor relate to the issue. The economic condition is certainly not the sole
bearer of cause for the misuse of Fuller s products, either. There are certain players in this
unfortunate epidemic that have not been taken into account. These variables include the retailers,
middlemen, and corrupt distributors who most likely made a profit from selling the glue to the
children on the streets. In addition, there was management among the subsidiary companies who
helped produce this product that must have been aware of this pertinent issue. Who is to say that
management never tried to resolve anything, or even bring up the issue? They probably did, but
nothing drastic as cancellation of their product ever came of it. All in all, the social and economic
conditions in Guatemala and Honduras were the primary reasons why the children resorted to a
medium of venting, namely H.B. Fuller s product. Could the company and its products have
intervened to help the dilemma?

predictive analysis to take more steps on delivering better performance and stronger bottom line. BI
refers to the skills, process, technologies and application used to support decision making and by
using this the organization can take appropriate steps towards enhancing the quality of product,
quality of service thus improving their profits and expanding their business.
Setting up a business in retail domain in a city like London would be very profiting as London
witness s large amount of tourists every day and as a result of which the sale of retail increases.
In a city like this irrespective of the competition there is lot of profit from which the company
can benefit, the company will always profit from this as customers are coming to the city on a
regular basis. This domain has extreme competition as a result of which more efforts should be
taken to understand the trend in which this particular business flows. London city is divided in
various zones and also it has lots of supermarkets where the sale of retail good is very high, so if
such areas and such stores are targeted where the sale of retail goods is high then the company can
surely profit in retail sector.

Atlit Yam Essay
Atlit Yam in Israel
Atlit Yam is a typical Neolithic site submerged in the Mediterranean Sea, near the coast of Haifa,
Israel (Holloway, 2014). This ancient village, aging 9,000 years old, started to be excavated in
1990s (Marchant, 2009). There have been numerous remains discovered by archaeologists,
including a large amount of houses and walls, a water well surrounded by stone baluster, a large
number of human remains and plenty of artefacts made by stone, wood and bone (Holloway,
2014). One of the most exciting discoveries is some skeletons of women and children, which have
been confirmed to be the earliest known cases of tuberculosis (Marchant, 2009). This settlement
provides an excellent chance to study life in the Neolithic Age.
Reasons of the subsidence of Atlit Yam are complicated. Basically, the erosion of saltwater, the
tectonic effects and eustatic effects may all make contribution to the submergence of the village.
With the erosion of saltwater, the well in Atlit Yam was contaminated badly so that the village
was abandoned by its people, not long before it was covered by sand and water (Marchant, 2009).

The recent underwater discoveries led by archaeologists from the University of Cambridge and the
University of Nottingham show that some of the part of the submerged city can be dated from at
least 2,800 B.C., far more earlier than the assumption of 1,600 B.C. to 1,100 B.C., which even
contains a larger number of material valuable to be studied (Marchant, 2009). Unlike some
submerged settlements which are lack of planning and contracture, Pavlopetri has already
impressed archaeologists with its complete city plan and advanced infrastructure (Papathanasion,
2015). The systematic excavation to Pavlopetri started since 1960s and more studies are still

Mail Troubles of the Civil War
Mail Troubles of the Civil War The nation s communication system was cut in two when the civil
war began in 1861. Mail was very important in boosting most soldier s morale. Writing letters was
soldier s link between Civil War camps and battlefields and back home (Civil War). Many
soldiers had never been this far from home and would often feel very homesick. Staying in touch
with their loved ones helped them from getting too sad and reminded them that they weren t
forgotten. Some of them wrote home weekly and used much of their free time writing. (Civil

Confederate postage was then no longer accepted by the Northern postal services, and if
received was to be forwarded to the Dead Letter Office to be returned to senders (Nation
Divided). To overcome this issue, the southern states created their own postal service. John H.
Reagan became their postmaster general and changed 8,535 of the United States 28,586 post
offices to confederate leadership (Confederate Postal System). He tried to employ southern
supporters from the U.S. Post Office so they could bring maps, reports, forms and plans that
could help jumpstart the new postal service (Confederate Postal System). Beginning using U.S.
money and postage, they soon ran into more problems as result to North attempting to even
further punish the South for seceding. U.S. postage issued before the war was stripped of its
value to ensure that stamps in Confederate hands would be valueless (Nation Divided). The North
began producing new postage to be accepted only in the Union territory. The South, now without
a form of postage, had to create their own postage system. While this postage system was in the
making, local postmasters issued provisional stamps or wrote paid on envelopes (Nation Divided).
Confederate stamps were available in October of 1861 (Confederate Postal System). The stamps

Ethical Sourcing And The Supply Chain
Ethical Sourcing and the Supply Chain Growing competition and the ever increasing emphasis on
cost reduction and efficiency has caused many firms to outsource various components of their
operations outside of the country. As firms are thrusted into the global marketplace and transformed
into multinational corporations (MNCs), new challenges arise related to the differences/disparity in
corporate social responsibility(CSR) practices between countries (Chandler Werther Jr., 2014; Cruz,
2013). Globalizationhas increased companies need to consider the importance and strategic value of
CSR (Chandler Werther Jr., 2014; Cruz, 2013).
At the forefront of international CSR issues, is the consumer demand for ethically managed supply
chains. Cruz (2013) stated that poor CSR performance, at any stage of the supply chain process,
may damage a company s most important asset its reputation (p. 3995). Based upon a case study on
the outsourcing of production activities by Apple Inc. to the controversial contract manufacturer
Foxconn, this paper will discuss whether or not firms have responsibility for the supply chains they
choose to utilize. The paper will also highlight some of the advantages and disadvantages of Apple
s outsourcing decision, along with cost benefit analysis of such decision.

of manufacturing activities, the question of Who is responsible for ensuring the supply

bells, that warn of a dangerous situation.
Onomatopoeia:

Onomatopoeia is added here and show the normal adjectives that are described with bells (clang

Civic Duties of Teenagers

Civic Duties of Teenagers
Introduction Civic duty is the obligation to each of us to leave our community in a better
condition than we found it. Every person in our country has rights, and with those rights come
responsibilities. That is what civic duty is, your rights and responsibilities that help contribute to
society. Every single day we perform these tasks to help better our country as a whole. Teenagers
have a huge role in this circle, whether they believe it or not. The civic duties that teenagers
perform are a crucial part of our society, because they are the ones who grow up to be the next
generation.

I think teenagers should volunteer more often, he said. The definition of civic duty is literally
the activities that one does to serve their community. Teens don t often think about how big their
role is in society... said Bailey. When I was younger, I was in all sorts community projects.
Bailey would like to see more teens signing up to volunteer, but he is very strong about his
opinion that it should be a choice. He thinks adults should steer teenagers in the right direction,
and then let them make the decisions. Being a teenager is a good time to learn how to make
responsible decisions. It should be voluntary, says Bailey. You can lead a horse to water, but you
can t make them drink.
My Civic Duties I find myself very lucky to live in the United States of America. Sadly, in many
other countries teenagers like me are much less fortunate and have fewer rights. What is even more
sad to me is that many teenagers take for granted the rights they inherit as U.S. citizens. One
example is that some teens actually take up the opportunity to drop out of high school whenever
they get the chance. It upsets me that they don t continue with their education and become a better
educated citizen, especially considering it is free.
As an American, I share the right of free speech with all other citizens. I also reserve the right to
drive. As of age fourteen, I am legally

blacks, nevertheless he s incorporating his view to show his audience that justice does not

in the US, but he also makes sure that people understand what it might feel like for someone who

especially African Americans. The beginning of the song in Verse 1 starts with Black boy, black

What Makes a Good Website
What makes a good website?
Introduction
In my opinion what makes a good web page? I have been on the net for the last, can t really
believe it, coming to ten years now. From the conception to now, I have been a regular surfer on
the web, visiting thousands of pages a month, mostly in search of some thing or another. Most
searches have lead to even more searches but some times I come up tops. Having been used to
the all text sites of the beginning, and seeing the first implementations of more graphic based
sites, there was a three year lapse where I rarely got to surfing and missed a whole evolution in web
page. When I returned in full to surfing, I discovered the face of the internet have started to change.

Not using clashing colours is important, so, different shades of one colour used makes for a
pleasant view, just using different text colours or inlays to spice it up a bit.
Usability:
After the first three seconds is up, and the site still has my attention, usability of the site is the one
that will make me stick around.
Usability comes in many forms, and has many ingredients to it. For a start, the layout is the most
important. You can have good graphics but bad layout, and your site is ruined. Not thinking further
than your own computer screen is a big mistake. If a page does not fit my screen when I open it up
it already lost some points, so standardised width is a bonus that all good sites have. Even if you
don t fill up the screen on bigger resolutions, having it usable on all is n good point (like
nokia.com or cnn.com). Where you place everything is going to make it a good site or not.
The simple points of usability is certainly obvious for someone who has spent some time on bad
sites, not that I think I m pro at this, but off course they are catering for me as well when they
are building the sites. Basic layout is very important, and by that, I mean, the basics in layout.
Having things in places where you think people are going to look is a good start. If you have to
look for a link to the main page from the splash page, then forget about getting much traffic. If the
main page does

Analyzing Sherlock Holmes Article Deduction
This passage comes from Sherlock Holmes s article on deduction, the unique process to which he
ascribes his success as a detective. He argues that through the power of deduction, or otherwise the
process of using clues and details to explain a hypothesis or argument. This passage shows a flaw
in Holmes s reasoning since the method being described is not that of deduction, but induction; the
process of making an argument to explain small clues or details. Nevertheless, Holme s reasoning
shows an important ideal in detective fictionof this era, where mundane objects are clues used to
aid the detective in solving the mystery. The detective is able to observe the ordinary object and

Holmes explains his idea of the human memory as a room with limited storage capacity. This
relates to Holmes crafting of his skill and ability to be specialised in knowledge relevant to his
work while being unknowledgeable about unrelated topics. Holmes presents an image of the
human mind as an open canvas that does not simply absorb information, but you must actively
choose what information to remember. Since the amount of information is limited, a person
should according to Holmes only select the information which pertains to their profession. The
passage identifies a person s ability to craft his own mind and develop skills which will enable
him to succeed in any field, something that would have attracted to readers of the middle class and
liberals since it means that everyone has the same ability to make something of themselves. The
problem presented in the passage is with the limited amount of information, which means that in
order to be specialised in certain fields, a person lacks knowledge in other. A conflict which Holmes

Parent Involvement Definition
II. Relevant Literature: Parent Involvement and Understandings of Bilingual Education
Parent Involvement is something that is very important and crucial when it comes to the education
of students. Especially to those students who are part of the bilingual programs, parent teacher
communication is key to success for the students. There tends to be a lack of communication
between the school and parents in which is very alarming for the reason that students are not fully
getting the education experience that they should be getting. Parents have the power and potential
to influence bilingual policies and practice at the school, district, and state wide (Lee, 1999 p. 201)

Sketches By Boz – Passage.Charles Dickens’ Language In
Sketches by Boz Passage Charles Dickens language in the passage suggests gloominess the motif
of darkness is present throughout. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene
a sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it
would be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere,
foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The
word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field
of abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the

He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation
euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic
tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a
widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises
the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a
working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they
endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that
they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to
reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could
be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often
classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor.
But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly
satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a
disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay
in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time
and were not yet considered

How to Change an Automotive Air-Conditioning Evaporator
How to Change an automotive air conditioning evaporator.
There are four parts to replacing the evaporator. The first part is to prepare the air conditioning
system for removal of the evaporator, the second part is the removal of the evaporator, the third
part is the reinstallation of the evaporator, and the fourth part is the proper testing to verify that the
repair was successful.
First we ll cover the preparation of the a/c system for the removal of the evaporator. The first step
is to identify the type of refrigerant in the system using a refrigerant Id machine. The second step
is to recover the refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine, be sure to use the correct
machine and fittings for the type of refrigerant in the system, usually R 12 or R 134a. The third
step would only apply if the heater hose(s) have to be removed to gain access and that is to drain
the coolant from the radiator into a clean container. The fourth, and final, step is to remove any
covers, braces, brackets, wiring harnesses, or heat shields that would restrict access to the
evaporator.
Now we ll cover the removal of the evaporator. The first step is to remove the liquid line from the
metering device, either thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) or fixed orifice tube (FOT). If there
is an O ring, be sure to remove and discard it. The second step is to remove the suction line from
the evaporator (on systems with a TXV) or accumulator (on systems with an FOT). Again if there

According to our reader, quot;there seems to be an inverse relationship between GDP and the

where people tried to out eat each other. The glutton and wastefulness was appalling, and at the
same time, entertaining to some.

Even that has changed. in class, the subject of SUV s has been discussed. Even if
Americans have changed to more gas efficient cars, this trend is changing. Who would have
thought in these delicate environmental times that the public could be sold a popular mode of
transport. On the news recently, it was stated that SUV s use one third more fuel and creates 75 per
cent more pollution than ordinary cars? And who would have guessed that the average fuel
efficiency of US cars in the year 2001 would be less than in the hog car days of the 1950s and
1960s? Environmentalists have calculated that the SUV fad has caused Americans to waste 70
billion gallons of gasoline in the past 10 years an immense price for an outdoorsy image. What
is absurd, is that the majority of SUV s are in big cities not in the country, where SUV s can be

Islamic Women In The 20th Century
In other denominations such as the Protestant Church, women have had the choice of ordination
since the 20th century. Numbers of women becoming ordained are continuing to rise in the
Protestant Church and other churches that allow it such as The American Baptist Church,
Assemblies of God, Christian Science, and The Episcopal Church.
In denominations outside of the United States, circumstances are very different in terms of a woman
s place in society. In Islam, where the dominating religion is Muslim, women are very confined.
The women are able to worship the god of the Muslim religion in public but do not have a place
of leadership in any way. This cultural aspect is very connected to the way that Islamic people
live life every day. Women are regularly found at home and are given purpose when they have

Thomas Woodrow Wilson
Thomas Woodrow Wilson Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born in the small town of Staunton,
Virginia on December 29, 1856 or, as other sources say, the 28 of December. He was the third of
four kids with two sisters and one brother. His parents were Joseph Wilson and Jessica Woodrow
Wilson. Tommy was only at the age of two years when his family moved to Augusta, Georgia.
Then, two years later the civil war had started and, while the war was going on, his dad had
changed the church into a confederate hospital. Curious about the soldiers, Tommy often would
sneak over to the church were his father car for the wounded . (Osinksi 13) There were Yankee
hostages and little Wilson would pretend to be the guard of the hostages. Wilson had a bad
learning experience as a child. He had not learned the alphabet until age nine and he did not learn
to read until he was eleven. However, the way most of Thomas education was he and his father
would visit a place, and for when they returned home Tommy would have to recite what he had
saw at the visit. His dad only pushed him harder by making him write a paper. If his father did not
understand anything he would go to young Thomas and ask what he meant. Wilson would answer
to what he meant and his father would tell him to rewrite the paper saying exactly what he meant.
Also, another thing little Tommy was he would have to read the bible every night. Later on, people

Got Milk Research Paper
Got Milk by Sarah Devino I believe tot that people should stop drinking milk because it is
unhealthy and non nutritious. I will be talking about why milk is not good for you . It is
dangerous for the environment . It is also dangerous for the human body and it is a toxin that
will stay in you body. One of the reasons anyone should stop drinking milk is because it is
unhealthy towards the environment. We also use large quantities of fertilizer to milk the dairy
cows. Cow produce a lot of waste , which is about 210 pounds daily. Dairy cows will produce a
lot of nitrogen green gas , when they are defecating on the ground. Depending on what the cow
eat they produce more methane , than CO2 in the atmosphere, Some people argue that it
depends on the diet that you feed the cows will produce less methane , if you feed them a more
healthy diet. It also takes about 4 to 6 watts of electricity a week to produce because of all the
processing of the milk. Some argue that they are trying to more eco friendly ways to produce dairy

Write An Alternate Ending To The Firekid
Old man firebird was proud of his little flame,
It brightened his day to just hear his name,
Not because of all the problems he overcame
Rather despite them his sunny deposition remained,
The firekid, he wasn t perfectly dressed,
Little rough around the edges, yet casually messed,
He couldn t help but be subtly impressed,
Because he burnt savagely,
But it hadn t always been like this,
You see, there were times he tried to hide his light
Every firekid hits their moment of plight,
To compress the brightness that would always ignite,
They all needed a brighter flame to guide them in their flight,
If we go back to when he was born in a supernova,

The Portrayal Of Zombies In Popular Culture
Over the past few years, there has been a new craze over the undead , zombies. Like all monsters,
zombies have become a thing no longer just feared and instead obsessed over. Now, they can be
found on posters, movies, and even t shirts for not only adults, but also children. This zombie
sensation wiping the country has a varying portrayal. No two zombiemovies are exactly the same,
but many themes can be found similar in all of them. Supposedly apocalyptic, zombies are
generally destructive and devilish. If this is true, why are they becoming so popular and is today s
culture portraying zombies correctly? Zombies, generally, are any human beings that are mindless,
show now emotion, and are driven to a specific motive. Being this way,... Show more content on

Maybe our entire perspective of what zombies are is actually wrong. From my knowledge,
zombies that are feared to bring the apocalypse are actually living beside us today. People in
today s society have become enslaved by many things, especially by their own desires. Like
zombies, they live day by day, emotionless and persistent. They do the same thing, the same way,
365 days a year. In my opinion, zombies are not only the dead who are living, but also the living
who are dead. Zombies in real life aren t cannibalistic, but in the process of getting what they
want, they may cause destruction. The destruction can occur because, like zombies, living
zombies will also do whatever it takes to fulfill their desires. I believe that zombies shouldn t be
feared or believed to cause an apocalypse. If anything, we, living zombies, will be the ones to
cause the apocalypse when we go brother against brother to fulfill our own selfish

The State Of Nature As A State
In his Leviathan, Hobbes describes the state of nature as a state of war between all men. Hobbes
refers to the state of nature as a state where there is no common power over them (Leviathan 13,
293). By this, Hobbes is explaining the state of nature as a state of existence without a governing
entity or laws over men. In this state, men have the right to take anything they need in order to
preserve themselves (Leviathan 14, 294). Next, Hobbes explains that all men are equal in ability,
and he takes great care to explain that in a single ability, such as strength, men are not equal
because there will be stronger men and weaker men (Leviathan 13, 292). However, he explains
that such inequalities can be overcome using deception or by acquiring allies (Leviathan 13, 292).
The idea of equal ability is key to Hobbes argumentbecause it ensures that everyone has an equal
hope of attaining their ends (Leviathan 13, 293). One way to view this is each individual is able,
or has the capacity, to fight because everyone is approximately equal in ability. If some individuals
were stronger than others and weaker individuals had no method to counter their strength, then the
weaker individuals would not wantto fight because they would certainly lose. This capacity to fight
gives everyone the ability to fight each other, so if have reasonto fight, then they are able to fight.
However, the capacity to fight is not enough because it will not necessarily drive men to fight each

Ethical Issues Of Euthanasia
Introduction:
The issue being discussed in this debate is whether the use of continuous deep sedation is a
valuable treatment for patients close to death. The ethical discussion is how far a doctor goes to
bring about a good death. Euthanasia bans are in all 50 states. Only 2 states have laws that allow
physicians to prescribe lethal drugs but are not allowed to administer. In order to respect
individual autonomy, the patient has the right to choose which medical interventions they do or
do not want. Encouragement in choice is offered with education regarding the use of advance
directives. Hospices began in 1970 and provided an option for people who did not want aggressive
medical care. (Kaebnick, 2001) One of the drawbacks of hospice ... Show more content on

In the second article, Mohamed Y. Rady and Joseph L. Verheijde argue that if sedation is used in
conjunction with the voluntary refusal of foods and fluids to hasten death, then it is equivalent
to assisted dying. It is important to tell families that declining oral intake is a natural part of the
dying process and that hesitancy to give artificial hydration is not abandonment. They discuss
physician assisted death, combining the both under the premise of providing quality palliative
care is the same as not following the Hippocratic principle of do not kill . It also crosses religious
and cultural values of patients, families, and health care professionals and violates basic human
rights. They warn regarding confusing a terminally ill patient versus an imminently dying patient.
The doctrine of double effect is often raised to explain the acceptability of an action that causes
harm, such as the death of a human being, as a side effect of supporting some noble end. They
urge the legal and societal debates to focus on the borders between aided dying and palliative care.
C. After review of both articles, I support the proper use of pain and sedating medications as
ethical comfort care. It is clear to me that continuous palliative sedation is very valuable to a patient
following the natural disease process. After all, clinical measures for comfort have been exhausted
and unsuccessful; we need to consider the use of palliative sedation to provide comfort. The main

Fight or Flight Response: The Armor He Wears
Succeeding the untimely events of 9/11, Jonathan Foer s novel, Extremely Loud and Incredibly
Close, follows the life of Oskar Schell, a young boy experiencing trauma from his father s
calamitous death. The catastrophe, which prompts Oskar to embark on a transformative journey,
parallels the accident that left his grandfather, Thomas Schell Sr., mute. These events also adversely
affect Oskar, as he exhibits a variation of the fight response by building armour around himself,
hiding his true feelings. This internal imbroglio culminates when Oskar sees a photo of an
unidentified man falling off of the World Trade Center, invoking the presence... Show more content

I want to stop inventing. If I could know how he died, exactly how he died, I wouldn t have to
invent him dying inside an elevator that was stuck between floors...There are so many different
ways to die, and I just need to know which was his (Foer 257). Oskar longs to know what really
happened to his Dad, because he is tired of wearing his armor, even being willing to compromise
who he is, inventing, just to find out the truth. The Falling Man photo gives Oskar a sense of
relief, thinking highly of his father, because he died trying. Life is scarier than death (Foer 322).
The Grandfather takes the letters he writes every day and dumps them all into his son s empty
coffin, finally feeling as if the messages had been delivered. Because of his original flight
response, he ended up losing his son for a lifetime, but seeing the photo of the Falling Man
helped him realize that life is scary, but if there s only one chance to live it, then live it right. I
made the only choice I could have made, the woman answers. I would have never made the choice
not to know (Junod 18). Thomas ended up returning out of curiosity, and Oskar stops inventing to
inquire about his dad s death. This curiosity leads them both to the photo of the Falling Man, where
they learn to appreciate the time they had with Thomas Jr. Their flight or fight response almost
ruined any chance of closure

How Does Elie Wiesel Use Symbols In Night
Never shall i forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams
to dust. Never shall i forget these things, even if i am condemned to live as long as God himself.
(Wiesel ix). This quote comes from the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel. This quote contains one of
the most obvious used symbols from the book. The memoir Night is about the author Elie Wiesel
struggling to survive during the bad days and nights in the concentration camps. The author tells us
about his struggles using symbolism. The author uses symbolism to give a visual so that you can
relate to the story. The three most important symbols that are used in Night are the fires, night, and
the baton.
One of the most apparent symbols in the memoir Night is fire, which symbolized death. This
representation of death is apparent when Mme. Schachter noticed the smoke from the crematory
through the cattle cars. Another example of death can be found on page 23: Look at the fire!
Flames, flames everywhere. Madame Schachter seen the fires, but none of the Jews wanted to
believe what she was saying. This symbolism gives a deeper meaning to Elie s experiences
because he didn t know what to expect or what was going to happen to him until he got to the
camps. Fire is one of the most apparent symbols in the story Night, symbolizing death. ... Show

The Beliefs Of Christianity And Dualism
Many people see their lives as divided pieces that are separated with little connection to one
another. This can be considered a dangerous perspective because it violates the whole purpose of
God s created order. We find ourselves in a sticky situation because we tend to divide our lives
into different categories, rather than focusing on the creation has one whole piece. In a dualistic
view, we would consider prayer, church and worship to be sacred activities, while work, education,
and politics would been seen as merely secular. Dualismbecomes this split vision of world. It
separates reality into two fundamentally distinct categories: holy and profane, sacred and secular.
Even when we reject this belief of full time Christian serve and say that all Christians are full
time servants of the Lord . Then this unconscious dualism can still constrain us. This then
becomes a problem for Christians and we tend to separate ourselves from the real world. We
separate ourselves from the Truth and dualism still plays a big part in our everyday lives. Our sins
are similar to addiction, meaning that we have a hard time withdrawing from the natural
temptations. Several Christians have a rough time dealing with dualism views, because they are
caught in today s society. In our society, we often keep our lives segregated from one connection to
another. People think that religionshould not be mixed in with work place. We as Christians think

My Personal Statement For College Students
In life, we have to make everyday decisions. Some of the decisions are harder to make. For
example, as college students, we struggle to decide what major to study. As we are growing up
we discover more and more things that we like to do. When I was a child, I remember the sweet
words of my elementary teacher, Ms. Amy, Karen, as you go through different life stages, you
will discover different interests in your life . Now that I am an adult, I agree with her because
every day in my life, I experience something new and worth it. Not starting college right after
high school gave me the opportunity to discover a career that I never thought about it. I always
thought that I will enjoy being an accountant because my favorite subject is math, but after
working in a job that exposes me to that field I discover that I did not want to do that for the rest
of my life. However, when I started working in a field that I found uninteresting, it helped me to
discover my passion for technology. This became an important element in selecting information
technology as my career. Exploring different careers fields help me to decide my college degree.
Researching for facts about information technology has become an influential element to know

The Debate Regarding the Use of Native American Mascots...
Teams in every sport, at every level of competition, have a mascot. It is the mascot that represents
the competitive spirit and team identity, motivating players and fans alike. Does the symbol
chosen as a mascot have any impact on whether a team wins or loses? Unlikely. But the choice of
a Native American mascot continues to ignite debate and controversy among athletes, fans and
alumni, as well as those people who might otherwise be disinterested in sports. Why all the
controversy? The dispute over whether Native American mascots should be used as a team symbol
dates back to the 1970 s (Price 2). There are those who are passionately against Native American
mascots. These advocators insist that Native American mascots are degrading to... Show more

Thus, it seems odd to suggest that naming a team after an Indian tribe is a calculated insult. A team
or school embraces a mascot that represents the favorable traits and characteristics of its members.
Such is the case with the Florida State Seminoles, who are named after a tribe with its origin in that
southern state. The Seminole tribe optimistically favored the use of the Indian mascot and even
facilitated the design of authentic dress that is proudly worn at sporting and community events.
Similar to the Seminoles, the University of Illinois preserved their mascot, Chief Illiniwek, for
almost 80 years. Named after the indigenous Illiniwek tribe, the Chief was a customary sideline
figure at football and basketball games until 2007 when the NCAA forced the University of Illinois
to remove this historic mascot. Unfortunately, the collegiate governing body failed to realize what
this symbol meant to the collegiate Illinois community. Illini students were polled regarding the
action and a majority disapproved of the decision. Sixty nine percent of the students voted to keep
Chief Illiniwek as their mascot. (Haugh). These students believed that removing Chief Illiniwek as
the University of Illinois mascot would diminish the passion associated with their university. After
the forceful removal of the Native American mascot by the NCAA, the students felt

Perseverance In Divergent
The war was terrible, the whole world was destroyed. The last city left divided themselves into
five factions to keep the peace. The smart ones are classified Erudite. Amity are always kind,
Candor value honesty, Dauntless are brave, and Abnegation are selfless. The system works
because everyone knows where they belong; everyone except for Tris. In the novel Divergent, by
Veronica Roth, Tris demonstrates perseverance; this is shown through how she is able to step out
of her comfort zone, always remains undeterred, and can overcome obstacles. Tris steps out of her
comfort zone several times throughout the book; when she changes factions, jumps off a roof, and
becomes a leader. Tris has always known that she does not belong, especially when... Show more

Abnegation has very strict rules that ban anything that makes one selfish. Tris has a rare condition
called Divergent; which means she can belong in more than one faction. The government think that
it is dangerous, so they try to kill anyone who has it. Tris has to hide it, so even though being
curious is selfish; she secretly asks different sources for help, some of which question her curiosity,
Never net a curious Abnegation before (Roth 12). By doing this, she feels that she has improved
her understanding of it, and can conceal it. Dauntless are known for being tough, so in initiation
they are taught to fight. Tris is not strong, so she gets knocked out very fast during her fight.
While in the hospital she is told that she is not aloud continue training, and that she will have to
leave. She felt discouraged because she did not risk everything just to quit now. Tris was not
going to take no for an answer, so even though she was in extreme pain, she continued initiation.
The last occasion that Tris remains undeterred is when she goes zip lining. To take their minds
off of initiation, everyone decides to go zip lining. No one wants Tris to go because they think
that she does not fit in, but she stands up for herself and reluctantly, they let her go. She was
petrified, because if she backed down, she would be made fun of; but she went down the zip line
and proved herself as an equal. It is tough to always remain undeterred, especially when you have
to go through it alone; but because Tris persevered she is able to stay

Understanding Elements of a Crime
Terrorists and terrorism
Q1. Describe the importance of knowing the elements of a crime before an investigator decides on
an investigative plan.
It is important to know all of the elements of the crime to determine the specific goals of the
investigation: whether it is fact finding in nature; designed to bring about a criminal prosecution, or
has another specific objective.
Q2. What is the importance of resources as it relates to an investigative plan?
Resources are inevitably scarce for any investigation. An investigator must make a compelling
case to a prosecutor that his or her case is worthy of the resources that will be expended upon it
and worthy of the resources it will divert from other projects.
Q3. How can the community assist government agencies in terrorism investigations?
Human sources are often the most critical components of any investigation. Sometimes people will
cooperate to avoid prosecution themselves; others do so out of altruism. Community members can
provide direct evidence; information about general sentiment about a particular issue; or about
practical aspects of the investigation, such as observations of suspicious activities.
Q4. What is the importance of culture as it relates to the handling of terrorism informants?
Investigators must be aware of inter community tensions. The word Muslim, for example, is a very
broad term for a variety of professions of Islam. Shiite members of a community may inform upon
Sunni members because of the

A mediator acts as a listener or suggestion giver who assists conflicting parties to come together,
and negotiate to reach an agreement (Wilmot Hocker, 2007). Fortune 500 electronics provider, Best
Buy is the largest specialty retailer within its sector throughout the United States (2011). In 2000,
the electronics conglomerate initiated plans to build a new company headquarters in Richland,
Minnesota. Richland s local government viewed this as an excellent opportunity to accrue
additional tax dollars. The government anticipated between seven to eight million dollars in
revenue as a result of assessed taxes. Although the local government supported the project; the
project was met with opposition from current land owners, and prominent residents. The land
owners thought the city s change in plan showed signs of manipulation. Initially the city planned to
use the site for an apartment, and car dealership expansion. However, the city changed its direction
by forgoing the car dealership project through eminent domain and the public entity eliminated its
apartment expansion project after a developer pulled out (Finkle, 2009). The city saw the Best
Buy project as an opportunity to gain tremendous profit. However, current land owners saw this as
a deceptive tactic by the city and refused to sell the property. To address the dissension, Best Buy

Populist Vs Omaha
And Then There Were Sixteen The Omaha Platform of 1892 didn t immediately bring the results
that the Populists were looking for. However, it did eventually lead to some precisely notable
changes in the governmental practices America knows today. Take, for example, the Graduated
Income Tax demand made in the Omaha Platform. The Populists asked for a change in the way
workers were paying taxes, considering at that time, taxes were paid by the population of each state,
not by how much that population earned. Furthermore, the taxes were not managed by the federal
government, they were collected by the individual states. There was an obvious problem with this
type of taxation and the Populists demanded that the issue be solved. Unfortunately,

Fuller morally responsible for the addiction of street children to its Resistol products? In my opinion, H.B. Fuller is not morally responsible for the addiction of street children to its Resistol products. A corporationis morally responsible only for those acts and their foreseen injurious effects: (a) which the corporation knowingly and freely performed or brought about and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or prevent and/or (b) which the person knowingly and freely failed to perform or prevent and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or ... Fuller s products and that neither the products nor the company is to blame? The social condition is certainly a main cause; but it does not necessarily take all of the causal blame. Not only does the social condition factor into the misuse of Fuller s products but also does the economic factor relate to the issue. The economic condition is certainly not the sole bearer of cause for the misuse of Fuller s products, either. There are certain players in this unfortunate epidemic that have not been taken into account. These variables include the retailers, middlemen, and corrupt distributors who most likely made a profit from selling the glue to the children on the streets. In addition, there was management among the subsidiary companies who helped produce this product that must have been aware of this pertinent issue. Who is to say that management never tried to resolve anything, or even bring up the issue? They probably did, but nothing drastic as cancellation of their product ever came of it. All in all, the social and economic conditions in Guatemala and Honduras were the primary reasons why the children resorted to a medium of venting, namely H.B. Fuller s product. Could the company and its products have intervened to help the dilemma? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Atlit Yam Essay Atlit Yam in Israel Atlit Yam is a typical Neolithic site submerged in the Mediterranean Sea, near the coast of Haifa, Israel (Holloway, 2014). This ancient village, aging 9,000 years old, started to be excavated in 1990s (Marchant, 2009). There have been numerous remains discovered by archaeologists, including a large amount of houses and walls, a water well surrounded by stone baluster, a large number of human remains and plenty of artefacts made by stone, wood and bone (Holloway, 2014). One of the most exciting discoveries is some skeletons of women and children, which have been confirmed to be the earliest known cases of tuberculosis (Marchant, 2009). This settlement provides an excellent chance to study life in the Neolithic Age. Reasons of the subsidence of Atlit Yam are complicated. Basically, the erosion of saltwater, the tectonic effects and eustatic effects may all make contribution to the submergence of the village. With the erosion of saltwater, the well in Atlit Yam was contaminated badly so that the village was abandoned by its people, not long before it was covered by sand and water (Marchant, 2009). Civic Duties of Teenagers Quinn Bailey 3/4/2013 Civic Duties of Teenagers Introduction Civic duty is the obligation to each of us to leave our community in a better condition than we found it. Usability comes in many forms, and has many ingredients to it. For a start, the layout is the most important. You can have good graphics but bad layout, and your site is ruined. Not thinking further than your own computer screen is a big mistake. If a page does not fit my screen when I open it up it already lost some points, so standardised width is a bonus that all good sites have. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor. But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time and were not yet considered ... This zombie sensation wiping the country has a varying portrayal. No two zombiemovies are exactly the same, but many themes can be found similar in all of them. • 27. The State Of Nature As A State In his Leviathan, Hobbes describes the state of nature as a state of war between all men. Hobbes refers to the state of nature as a state where there is no common power over them (Leviathan 13, 293). By this, Hobbes is explaining the state of nature as a state of existence without a governing entity or laws over men. In this state, men have the right to take anything they need in order to preserve themselves (Leviathan 14, 294). Next, Hobbes explains that all men are equal in ability, and he takes great care to explain that in a single ability, such as strength, men are not equal because there will be stronger men and weaker men (Leviathan 13, 292). However, he explains that such inequalities can be overcome using deception or by acquiring allies (Leviathan 13, 292). The idea of equal ability is key to Hobbes argumentbecause it ensures that everyone has an equal hope of attaining their ends (Leviathan 13, 293). One way to view this is each individual is able, or has the capacity, to fight because everyone is approximately equal in ability. If some individuals were stronger than others and weaker individuals had no method to counter their strength, then the weaker individuals would not wantto fight because they would certainly lose. This capacity to fight gives everyone the ability to fight each other, so if have reasonto fight, then they are able to fight. However, the capacity to fight is not enough because it will not necessarily drive men to fight each other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ethical discussion is how far a doctor goes to bring about a good death. Euthanasia bans are in all 50 states. Only 2 states have laws that allow physicians to prescribe lethal drugs but are not allowed to administer. In order to respect individual autonomy, the patient has the right to choose which medical interventions they do or do not want.
