Wednesday, October 9, 2013 8:30am - 10am Organizational conflict will enhance their effectiveness through their ability to help themselves and their clients fully understand the complex dynamics operating in difficult organizational challenges. By allowing ourselves and our clients to consider what is going on through 4 different lenses--structural, human resource, political, symbolic---we will enhance our diagnostic abilities as well as engage more effective strategies. In essence, this workshop will help us make sense of our client's conflicts, allow for more sophisticated judgment, and develop/implement more effective action.

No one, has ever died of a presentation. Still, it is the #1 fear of our population. Competence in communication-, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential to personal success in the field of business; academically presentation skills are crucial in order to deliver your message. What can a presentation do for you? it puts you on display it allows you to present ideas, concepts it demonstrates your expertise it allows you to raise issues it allows you to establish (personal as well as target audience) meaning it could provide valuable input in your decision making (feedback) According to Dale Carnegie (1888 – 1955), lecturer and American writer of How to Win Friends and Influence People, it is possible to change other people’s behavior by changing one’s own reaction to them. During this training participants will plan, develop and deliver their own powerful persuasive presentations. Objective Participants will learn how to move and motivate any kind of group, whether they are presenting to university professors, a management team, the board of directors, to their employees, their colleagues, their customers or relations. To move and motivate a group of people, participants will develop insight in: different types of presentation tools different communication styles planning, preparing and structuring a presentation verbal- as well as non-verbal communication skills how to manage presentation stress Participants will identify their own communication style and will learn how to analyze others. By preparing for their audience they will be able to recognize and cater to the audience’s needs and be remembered for their message.

This is a summative presentation of results of a research conducted with seven private universities in the Philippines as institutional respondents. The research focuses on the implications of the K to 12 education reform on the massification of Philippine higher education. Massificaiton in this research is contextualized to the following: higher enrollment into universities, particularly of lower-income students, regard for a university degree and the same vis-a-vis the belief that obtaining one facilitates employment, and sustainability of the operations of HEIs. In analyzing the surfaced implications against factors influencing the educational landscape in the Philippines, the research (as would be discussed in a paper that is being developed) reflects on the concept of vertical differentiation, the economic models of comparative advantage and cost-benefit analysis, and the theory of gradual institutional change. Special thanks to the presidents and designated official respondents of Miriam College and St. Paul University Philippines in Luzon, Central Philippine University, Silliman University and University of San Carlos in the Visayas, and Notre Dame University and Xavier University in Mindanao. For use of the PowerPoint pending research paper completion, e-mail: markraygan@yahoo.com.

Hong Kong's Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) is a retirement protection scheme started in 2000. While the MPF may prove relatively sufficient to middle- and high-income households, its potential to generate sufficient accrued benefits for retirement until average life expectancy of 80 does not cover at least 30% of Hong Kong people.

The presentation analyzes the discursive influence of Philippine media on the government's war on drugs, and the interplay of power between media and government. It also examines the buffering effect of the Duterte administration's populist approach to leadership on alleged media's undermining (direct or indirect) of its campaign against drugs.

What is the relationship between economic policy and social policy? In booming Hong Kong, its economic growth has not done much to provide enough social welfare and services to the poor and elderly. It remains to be among the world's richest economies with high Gini coefficient (income disparity between rich and poor).
