1. Long Term Solution using
Shortened Dental Arches
Shortened Dental Arches (Armellini and von Fraunhofer):
•intact anterior region
•reduced number of occluding pairs of posterior teeth to
provide a stable and functional dentition.

2. Case Report
A 47 year old female patient reported to Department of
Prosthodontics with the chief complaint of missing teeth.

3. Diagnosis
• Extraoral examination revealed no loss of vertical dimension
and a healthy temperomandibular joint.
• Intraoral examination revealed the following missing teeth: 17,
22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 35, 36, 37, 46 and 47.
• Patient had an EXAGGERATED GAG REFLEX.
• History of removable partial denture treatment which was not
satisfactory
