1. How did your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media
products?
2. Before creating my own
magazine I did some research
on existing magazines to
analyse the generic
conventions.
3.
4.
5. The interviewee talks about her
experiences as a artist like
preforming at the Royal Verity
performance and before she
became a singer. In this interview
she opens up about her past drug
addictions which some people
could associate with. She also
talks about her education and
how she got into the music
industry. This interview gives an
insight to being famous and how
to become famous.
The purpose of the image is to show
the audience who the interview is
on. The image is black and white so
the house style is maintained. As the
artist is looking into the camera it
makes a connection with the
audience as she is giving them direct
contact. The mise-en-scene is
important because it represents the
artist in a certain way. The image is
so large because it captures the
readers attention which makes them
want to read the magazine, this is
also why it is on the left hand side
(People read from left to right).
The representation of the artist is important as it shows what
type of person she is and what music genre she represents.
This image used is consistent throughout as she has the same
hair and make– up as the front cover; in both images she is
wearing unusual clothing and accessories. Again in both of the
images she isn't wearing a top which also shows her self
confidence and eccentric ways.
The house style is consistent throughout the
magazine; this is done by using the same
colours . It is also done by using the same
style of text (For example the artist name on
the front and on the double page spread are
the same). Branding and maintaining a house
style is important because that's what people
remember you for.
The reason the artist name is
large is so it links in with the
image on the opposite page.
It’s in a large font due to the
interviewee being ‘Lady GAGA’.
There are usually 3 columns
which makes it easier to read
and it also improves the look of
the page. Basic font has been
used to make it clear for the
audience to read the article;
the size of the font is small so it
can fit onto a double page
spread. Hyphens are not used
so its easy to read and it
doesn't look like the sentence
is continuing across the page.
The page number is added so the audience can find the
information they want. They do this by looking at the
content page which tells them the page number and the
information on that page.
The purpose of the smaller version of the
masthead is continue the branding
throughout the magazine.
The date is added so you know when the article
was published and when the artist interview was
done.
The web address was included so that people who have
enjoyed the magazine can look into buying future
magazines. The audience could also get a monthly
subscription.
The start of the interview section
starts with a large ‘S’ this is to
show a new section of the article.
The ’S’ separates different events .
6. I then included some of these
conventions on/ in my magazine to
make it look realistic. Without
these my magazine wouldn’t look
professional.
7. I have used a last
masthead so that it
stands out to my
audience. I have
chosen this font as its
bold and distinctive.
I have included the left
hand side third rule
within my front cover as
people read from left to
right. It is also placed
here as magazines used
to be stacked with the
right hand side covered.
I have used a consistent
colour scheme throughout
my magazine (red, black
and white). I have used
these three colours as it
was the most popular
request on my
questionnaire.
I have put the price in tiny font as its
expensive for someone who hasn’t got a
regular income.
I have included a plug which advertises the summers upcoming
songs. I have included this in the plug as its one of my main
features of my magazine.
I have included different
aspects of mise-en scene
throughout my front cover
. For example an
appropriate outfit.
I have put my image on
the right hand side that
the text on the lefty
doesn't cover it .
I have made my artist
name in a large, bold
font so that it stands out.
8. I have put my text in line to
make it easy for my
audience to read the
content. I have also started
to put my text on the left
hand side due to the left
side third rule.
The text I have used is simple and
bold to guarantee my audience can
read it.
I have used a continuous
house style throughout; I
have done this by using
the same mast head,
colours and artist.
I have added two images. I
have used the same artist as
the front cover (medium
shot); this image is also the
dominant image as I'm
maintaining the house style.
I have included the issue
number in the top right
hand corner to show the
readers that it’s a new
magazine. In the future I
when I have a bigger issue
number it will show that I
have a successful
magazine.
I have continued the
house style by continuing
the mast head at the top.
9. I have include this
image as it shows the
audience who the
interview is on. In this
image I have included
the same model with
the same clothing as
the content page; I
have done this to
continue the house
style. By making my
model look into the
camera it makes a
connection with the
audience, as well as
the image being large
this also captivates
the audience.
I have highlighted the questions in red to make them stand out to the
audience. Choosing the colour red also continues the house style.
I have included the page number on the right hand side on the bottom corner. I
have done this to make it easier to locate the page when using the contents
page.
Again the house
style is
continued by
using the
masthead in the
bottom corner.
The purpose of have
3 columns is to make
it easier for my
audience to read the
article. I chose a
simple clear font to
make reading easy
for the reader, the
font size is also
practical as its fall
enough to fit on the
page but big enough
to see.
I have put the
artist name in
a large bold
font above the
article as it
shows who its
about and it
also links in
with the image
on the other
side off the
page.
Throughout my magazine I have
maintained the same house style as it will
create an image which people will
remember me for. This will give me
recognition.
I have represented my artist in a certain way to show what type of genre he
is portraying and the personality of my artist. Throughout my magazine he is
wearing the same or similar clothing. For example he is wearing the same
hat which is worn backwards which shows him in a rebellious way.
