Vishwapriya advised people to keep their PC current with the latest patches & updates; choose strong passwords; protect their PC with good security software; and review bank statements regularly. He also said that securing the wireless network can greatly benefit internet users. Last week, he was on his first trip to Mumbai,
India for attending an event organized by the
region's top IT firm. During the event,
Vishwapriya enlightened the audience by
sharing his vast knowledge of internet security.
The topic he chose to speak on was – Cyber
crime and ways to deal with it.
3. He started by telling the audience that while
dealing with cyber crime, an ounce of
prevention is worth a pound of cure. He said
that prevention from cyber crime can be quite
straight-forward provided that you have good
technical knowledge about it.
While sharing some useful tips on preventing
cyber crime, Vishwapriya Chakraborty
advised people to keep their PC current with
the latest patches & updates; choose strong
passwords that cannot be easily guessed;
protect their PC with good security software;
and review bank statements regularly.
4. He also said that securing the wireless network
can greatly benefit internet users. When talking
about the wireless network security, he said
that Wi-Fi networks at home become vulnerable
to intrusion in case they aren't properly
secured. Hence, it is important for people to
properly review as well as modify the default
settings. He also said that public Wi-Fi,
popularly known as “Hot Spots”, are also quite
vulnerable and so it is advisable to avoid
conducting financial transactions on these
networks.
5. Lastly, Vishwapriya Chakraborty requested
people to keep their e-identity protected by
remaining extra careful while sharing their
personal information, like – their name, phone
number, address, or bank account details on
the internet.
