When it all boils down to is whether you're looking to meet someone meaningful or just looking to have a good time, actually talking to other people is generally better fun that shouting at people from a car, or from across the street , or getting your ass kicked to prove your tough.
2. Meeting New People
Usually when I sit down to write a blog about
Speeksy, I have been thinking about a certain topic
for awhile. On this occasion however this wasn’t the
case. I was sitting down on a Sunday night, cracking
into a pack of Doritos watching one of my favourite
documentaries, David Attenborough’s ‘Planet Earth’.
My mind couldn’t have been further away topics for
blogs. Visit http://www.speeksy.com/.
3. Pre-Game – Limited Confidence, Loads of
Awareness
On this particular night we weren’t drinking at any house
parties before going out, we were going straight to the
pub, so this meant more Pre-Game activity could be
witnessed as we weren’t getting drunk by ourselves and
then going out, we were ‘Pre-Gaming’ surrounded by
people we didn’t know. The Pre-Game tactics I witnessed
can probably be associated to a very limited demographic
and even a small few within that, but even so, they were
pretty funny.
4. Wolf Whistle
On the way to the pub we heard a guy wolf whistle to a girl
who was walking on the other side of the street. I couldn’t
believe I had forgotten about this incredible stereotype but
it actually happened! It’s really epitomizes immature pre-
gaming. It involved the two attributes that make a pre-
game tactic, safe distance and strength in numbers.
Absolutely ridiculous when you think about it, but I doubt
anyone who actually wolf whistles actually expects it to
work. Begs the questions why anyone does it to be honest.
5. The Game – Good Awareness Good Confidence
So we were in the pub a few hours and everybody is having
a good time. Anyone that’s going to make a connection with
someone cool is more likely going to happen at this time, in
Ireland this more than likely happens between 10pm and
1am. The Game is the best part of the night. Conversations
are being started because everyone is feeling pretty
confident, and the crack is being had by everyone involved
as the ‘messiness’ (for most people) hasn’t started to hit
home. After The Game, it becomes more about getting laid
than actually making meaningful connections.
6. Dancing
As an onlooker onto the dance floor (I looked like a
complete creep watching people (try to) dance), I was in
bits with laughter. So the dance floor was packed with
people and because Irish people don’t tend to dance until
there smashed, so of the dance moves made the Amazonian
birds which inspired this blog look like Michael Jackson.
Although there was an awful lot of people falling over each
other, I think this video below demonstrates what everyone
dancing would look like if they were dancing by themselves.
7. Fighting
Then we leave the club, and as time is really ticking it
comes to the very last tactic for pulling someone, fighting.
As a wuss my whole life, I really feel the most desperate of
all attention seeking moves that comes out in post-gaming
fighting. Having be given a ass kicking on any occasion in
which I ended up in a fight, it was never a success story for
me. Granted it doesn’t happen on every night out, but its
such a buzz kill if someone you know gets involved in a
fight. But, just like the Amazonian Birds, if the dancing
hasn’t worked, sometimes (they feel) a fight is whats
needed to win the prize.
