3. About The Study
Ipsos Online Audience Measurement is conducted among internet users to track
their online behavior and usage across websites.
The study concept is build on two approaches in order to deliver the media and
digital industry the most accurate and reliable data.
Approach 1:
Ipsos collects traffic data from participated websites by embedding a tag on
their pages. From tagging the websites, Ipsos Gemius can identify numbers
of “Real Users”, which are NOT uniques, cookies or browsers.
Consequently the media industry can better plan the advertisers campaign
by using “Reach” as a main media indicator
Approach 2:
Ipsos recruit a panel randomly through different means to insure proper
internet distribution and representation. After identifying the profile, each
panelist downloads a sophisticated application on his/her computer that
enables the metering of internet behavior.
The panel approach was introduced since multinational websites and some local websites cannot
be tagged.
4. About The Study
Coverage :
The study covers 12 MENA countries:
KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq,
Egypt and Morocco.
By use of panel and website tagging, data is delivered across 6 main
countries covered in this report (KSA, UAE, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon,
Morocco, Kuwait, Iraq & Syria). This concept is called hybrid approach. The
remaining countries are delivered through the cookie panel approach. More
countries will be part of the panel soon.
Also different Online Ad Networks and around 300 local websites are currently participating in
the study.
5. 25 Key Media Metrics
The metering and tagging technology allows Ipsos Gemius to collect
different metrics and statistical analytics: in this report, the main metrics
chosen are:
• Reach: % of Real Users – Internet Individuals
• Number of Page Views
• Number of visits
• Time spent per visit/ visitor
• Audience composition PV /Time Composition, and audience duplication .
• Demographic details (e.g. nationality, gender, age, purchase behavior, marital
status, other media usage…etc)
