What are Learning
Management Systems?
                 (LMS)
Outcomes
Attendees will have a common view of the role that
LMS plays in blended learning.

Regional and State teams will have the capacity to
utilise LMS in their teams, schools and communities.

Attendees will plan and begin to develop a LAMS
sequence.

Individuals and teams will share ideas, goals
and uses for LMS within the educational setting.

 On a piece of blank A4 paper, draw a
large analogue clock.

 Move around the room, introduce
yourself and fill your appointment
clock.

 Fill all appointment times without
repeating names.

 Try to have at least 9 people on your
clock that you don’t know!
Definition - LMS
A learning management system (LMS)

is a software application or Web-based technology
used to plan, implement, and assess a specific
learning process.

provides an instructor with a way to create and
deliver content, monitor student participation, and
assess student performance.

provides students with the ability to use learning
objects such as threaded discussions, video
conferencing, and discussion forums.

What is Moodle?                  (Modular Object Oriented Dynamic
Learning Environment)

 Moodle is an Open Source Course Management System
 (CMS).
  It has become very popular among educators around
 the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites
 for their students.
 To work, it needs to be installed on a web server
 somewhere, either on one of your own computers or one
 at a web hosting company.

What are LMS?

  • 2. Outcomes Attendees will have a common view of the role that LMS plays in blended learning. Regional and State teams will have the capacity to utilise LMS in their teams, schools and communities. Attendees will plan and begin to develop a LAMS sequence. Individuals and teams will share ideas, goals and uses for LMS within the educational setting.
  • 3. Appointment Clock  On a piece of blank A4 paper, draw a large analogue clock.  Move around the room, introduce yourself and fill your appointment clock.  Fill all appointment times without repeating names.  Try to have at least 9 people on your clock that you don’t know!

Definition - LMS A learning management system (LMS) is a software application or Web-based technology used to plan, implement, and assess a specific learning process. provides an instructor with a way to create and deliver content, monitor student participation, and assess student performance. provides students with the ability to use learning objects such as threaded discussions, video conferencing, and discussion forums.
