2. Between Heaven and Earth
Christ Bridged the Gap
By becoming our Intercessor!
• Sacrificing Himself to pay the redemption
price (Isaiah 53:12; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Rom. 8:26)
• Being “lifted up” to die (John 3:13-15; 8:28;
Mark 15:37-38; Hebrews 10:19-22)
• Raised to make continuous intercession
(Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25)
3. Between Heaven and Earth
Christ Bridged the Gap
By becoming our Mediator!
• A Mediator implies a difference between two
parties (Galatians 3:20; Psalm 7:11; Isaiah 59:2)
• A Mediator is a reconciler (1 Timothy 2:5;
Galatians 4:4-5)
• A Mediator is helpful when a covenant has been
breached (Isaiah 24:5)
• A Mediator is willing to take on the work
(Hebrews 10: 7-9)
4. Between Heaven and Earth
Christ Bridged the Gap
By becoming our Mediator!
• A Mediator must be acceptable to both sides
(Acts 2:22; Revelation 5:3-5)
• A Mediator must want peace
(Isaiah 9:6; Ephesians 2:14-15)
• A Mediator must not seek to impose his own will
(Philippians 2:6-7; John 6:38)
• Jesus filled the role of our Mediator perfectly!
(Hebrews 8:6; 9:15; 12:22-24)
5. Between Heaven and Earth
Christ Bridged the Gap
By becoming a Ladder!
• Jacob saw a ladder stretching from earth to
heaven (Genesis 28:11-17)
• Jesus is the ladder! (John 1:51)
6. Between Heaven and Earth
Christ Bridged the Gap
The Bridge between Heaven and Earth is…
• Paid for by the blood of Christ.
• Built according to a contract that was
mediated by Christ.
• Made out of Christ Himself.
