Dogs are no more your best buddies… coz
ROBOTS ARE TO BE !!!
The movie I, Robot is to become real. The movie was talking about the year of
2035 ! Guess the team did not predict it would happen earlier!!
Japanese company SOFTBANK has unveiled a robot, which can read human emotions.
He is named “Pepper“. Pepper can communicate through emotions, speech or body
language and he is armed with mics and proximity sensors. Pepper can serve as baby-
sitters, nurses, emergency medical workers or even party companions!
Boys and girls, save yourself! I hope you are not dumped for PEPPER. Pepper is not only
emotional and intelligent but is also cute. He stands 120 centimeters and weighs about 28
kilo grams and his chest bears a 10.1-inch touchscreen.

One can also install applications and get him upgraded. Pepper understands 4,500
Japanese words already. Being said Japanese is the most difficult language in the world
to learn, learning other languages should be a cake walk for Pepper! The impressive
feature, rather, character of Pepper is that he understands his master’s disposition (his
master’s mood!!)
Softbank said people could communicate with him just like their family and friends.
A newly bought bot is like a baby and one can teach him according to his necessity. The
more you interact with them the smarter they become! You can get him home, next year
for 198,000 yen ($1,930; £1,150).
The CEO of Softbank, Masayoshi son said, ” People describe others as being robots
because they have no emotions, no heart . For the first time in human history,
we’re giving a robot a heart, emotions “. He also said the robot is launched so that it
can maximize people’s joy and minimize their sadness. The bots will use cloud
computing to share data but not their masters personal data. Sharing data will help in
developing their emotions.
The launching event began with a darkened stage and after several minutes of theatrics,
Masayoshi presented Pepper. The sleek, high-waist robot then began interacting with him
with a high-pitched boyish voice, and then introduced himself to journalists in Japanese.
Masayoshi then said, ” A prototype will be deployed this week, serving customers
at SoftBank mobile phone stores in Japan“. He also said, “With Pepper, the future
begins today“.
Japan is one of the biggest markets in the world. According to a recent survey (by BBC
networks), its overall robotics market was worth about 860 billion ($8.4 billion; £5
billion) yen in 2012. A leading Japanese car maker Honda has also been developing a
household robot, Asimo. Asimo played football with the president of United states,
Mr.Barrack Obama when he recently visited Japan.
Let’s hope the robots enter market soon!!!
