Development of on line monitoring system of substation power equipment based on ieee1588 standard
1. DEVELOPMENT OF ON-LINE MONITORING SYSTEM OF
SUBSTATION POWER EQUIPMENT BASED ON IEEE1588
STANDARD
Abstract:
With the development of digitization of substation, the future trend of on-line monitoring
system of substation power equipment is based on the IEEE1588 standard is proposed, by use of
DP83640 Ethernet PHYTER which includes all of the hardware to implement the IEEE1588
Precision Time Protocol. The design not only implements the precise time synchronization
between the master clock and slave clocks of the distributed on-line monitoring system based on
Ethernet, but also shortens the design cycle.
Existing System:
The existing system is based on the manual operation where the entire substations are to
be monitored. This proves to be a major drawback in the existing system. Hence we propose this
on-line power monitoring system of substation.
Proposed System:
In this project we propose “Development of On-line Monitoring System of Substation
Power Equipment Based on IEEE1588 Standard” Substation parameters like temperature,
current, voltage are sensed by corresponding sensor and fed to PIC microcontroller. The PIC
microcontroller sense sensor voltage by using signal conditioning unit and PIC microcontroller
will store in EEPROM using I2C protocol after some delay PIC microcontroller Read data in
EEPROM and upload to internet using Ethernet. This will help to EB department to monitor the
substation status where ever they are in the world.
