Troy was a real place, located in what is now northwest Turkey. According to ancient Greek stories, Troy was a wealthy and powerful city that was attacked by Greeks seeking to recover Helen of Troy. After a long siege, the Greeks devised a trick involving a large hollow wooden horse, which allowed them to infiltrate and ultimately destroy the city of Troy.
