Hawaiian instruments included hula sticks, footboards, and little stones used in traditional hula dancing. Hula sticks were long, heavy wooden sticks used in pairs or alone by dancers. Footboards provided a surface for dancers to stand on. Little stones were held between fingers and tapped together to create rhythmic sounds as dancers moved.
