2. Content of this Presentation The Facebook For Socially Entrepreneurial Organizations The Focus of the following is: Describe Vision and Concept for the Ecosystem Collaboration Platform (slides 4 – 10) Make Explicit what the User Interface Paradigm is with specific mock ups (slides 11 – 23)
3. The Problem Potential Redundancies: different organizations are working on similar projects but are not aware of each other’s efforts. Inefficient Deployment of Resources: resources for socially entrepreneurial organizations scarce and must be deployed judiciously. Inefficiency: Due to lack of visibility into what other groups with similar objectives are doing, opportunities for increased efficiency are lost. Inability to Mobilize: There are times when it is appropriate for organizations to collaborate around specific initiatives and to generate strength in numbers. This is difficult if a proper infrastructure to connect groups does not exist. The Facebook For Socially Entrepreneurial Organizations
4. The Facebook For Socially Entrepreneurial Organizations The Solution: Enabling Collaboration Between Organizations Develop Infrastructure that enables collaboration by: Making projects that organizations want to collaborate on visible: Open Projects Provide an infrastructure that makes it easy to connect and organize with others in different organizations. Provide an infrastructure that makes it as easy as possible for volunteers to engage on projects; Make requirements visible Make meetings, leadership structure etc. visible
12. The Facebook For Socially Entrepreneurial Organizations Key Concepts Ecosystem: A system of existing relationships between organizations. Visibility: The ability of people to see the projects they can participate in, the connections between people and organizations, the information flow etc. Openness: The ability for people to originate and participate in projects that try to engage as many people and organizations as possible. Virtual Teams: Infrastructure designed to build and manage globally distributed teams. Real Time Interaction: Absolutely essential for building trust with Virtual Teams. Hybrid Model: This platform should not be considered a technology ‘pure play’. It will be developed in a manner that adds value to already existing relationships between organizations.

These organizations form a set of natural relationships; an Ecosystem
14. Platform Development Strategy Rollout One Ecosystem at a time: We will roll the platform out within a particular Ecosystem. The advantage of this is that the initial functionality that is developed will solve a clearly articulated market problem. Keep Architectural Considerations Regarding Ecosystem Connectivity At Forefront: Even though we will develop the platform one Ecosystem at time, we will keep in mind that the larger objective must make it possible to connect different Ecosystems. 15. Financial Model Software as a Service: The objective would be to offer a solution that is hosted independently and offered on a subscription basis to participating organizations. It is premature to speculate on precise pricing details. The Facebook For Socially Entrepreneurial Organizations
