2. About DBI….
 Nabapallav constructed a DBI project in Bhainsadani
village of Nuapada district in 2012. The project was
supported SD Tata Trust.
 A total of 8 .66 lakh rupees was spent including
training, supply of inputs and administrative costs
 Rs. 6,78,313 . 00 was spent specifically for construction
of the project.

3. What have we done for improvement
of Agriculture
The Project
 created irrigation facility for 166 acres of dry land.
 Made drinking water available to 65 households
within 50 merit distance.
 Trained 200 farmers on use of improved agricultural
technology.
 Supplied high yielding seeds of maize and
vegetables to 35 farmers.
 Provided technical support and guidance for use of
technology to enhance agricultural production

4. Strengthening people’s Institutions
 Formed Producers’ Groups in 250 villages and
sensitized them on agricultural issues.
 Formed a district level forum called Krushak Sakti
Sangathana (KSS) in Nuapada district.
 Raised farmers’ issue at district and state levels.
 An office of the KSS was established at Khariar which
operates as a support centre for the farmers of the area.

5. Thrust Areas & Task Ahead
 Propagation of SRI and Package of Practice methods within
farmers of Nuapada district.
 Motivate farmers for enhancement of area under pulses like
Mung and Arhar during summer, where DBI project has
been taken up / will be taken up.
 Vegetable Cultivation is / will be taken up on priority basis
to ensure nutritional security.
 The existing farmers groups / clubs will be strengthened
and new clubs will be formed.
 The Centre at Khariar will be developed as Agriculture
Information and support Centre.
