Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which is considered the holy month of fasting where Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. It is believed that the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the prophet Muhammad during this month. Fasting is obligatory for all adult Muslims during Ramadan to gain spiritual rewards and forgiveness from sins. The fast is broken each evening with a small meal before performing the evening prayer. Eid al-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast, marks the end of Ramadan and is a time of celebration and gift-giving.

The name "Ramadan" had been the name of the ninth month in Arabian culture long before the arrival of Islam; the word itself derived from an Arabic root rmḍ, as in words like "ramiḍa" or "ar-ramaḍ" denoting intense heat,[ scorched ground and shortness of rations. In the Qu'ran, God proclaims that "fasting has been written down (as obligatory) upon you, as it was upon those before you". According to the earliest hadith, this refers to the Jewish practice of fasting on Yom Kippur.

The Muezzin's Call to Prayer for the MaghribSalat is the signal announcing the end of the fast, which is terminated with a mouthful of water, a cup of tea, a dried date or two, or even a pinch of salt should nothing else be immediately available and with the supplication: `Allah, for thy sake I observed the fast putting my trust in Thee, and I have ended it with that which Thou has provided. Thirst is quenched and the arteries refreshed and I look for my recompense with Thee, if Thou should so will. I beg of Thee Allah, of Thy mercy that encompassed all things, that Thou may be pleased to forgive me my sins.'
7. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has said: `There are appropriate spiritual rewards for all worship and righteous action; the ultimate reward of the person who observes the fast solely for winning the pleasure of Allah is Allah Himself.'
8. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever prays at night in Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven."
9. Eid-ul-Fitr: Eid-ul-Fitr (Id al-Fitr) is linked with the Holy month of Ramadan. It signifies the end of the month of fasting (the first day of the month of Shawwal). It is a gift fOr all Muslims…
