5.2.1 Finding your campaign
Student Book
pp 152–61
In Activity 5.1.2 you looked at posters and analysed their message and target audience.
Now you are going to think about a campaign that you would like to conduct. This might
be a campaign for something you are passionate about or it might be about a local issue.
On your own or in a small group:
make a list of the kind of campaigns that you would like to conduct
• drink driving
• domestic abuse
• issues the revolve around women
discuss your list with your group, if you are working with others
We thought that we should focus on women as our base for our campaign and though
that it would be easier for us to focus and create a performance. There are a lot of
issues that we will have to cover so we thought we could pick the most popular issues
like domestic, cultural and bullying.
decide which of your ideas would be the most appropriate
What we have decided to focus on is abuse in general, especially focus on women and
the affect it has on them. For women in different cultures lifestyles and different type
of abuse such as domestic, rejection, cultural disputes and many more.
think about the resources you have available to conduct your campaign
We have yet to still decide the venue of our campaign and we though that we could use
an unusual stage like ‘in the round’ where you will have to perform in a circle type
stage with the audience all around you.
the resources that we have
• lighting equipment
• sound projecting equipment and theatre space
think about the medium you will be using to communicate your campaign message to the target
audience
The medium that my group has chosen is performing theatre on a stage. This will make an effective
performance and send the message to the audience through emotive theatre. We went to the half
moon theatre and watched a performance on ‘The time for the good looking boy’ which was a

performance based on one boy and talked to us through his life when eventually we realised that he
is already dead and it was because of drink driving and the affects this has on person. We watched
this performance to get a real idea on how to create our performance and what we will need to do to
make it effective.
make accurate and effective plans for your campaign
Title of campaign: She’s Abused
The performance is based on the abuse that woman and young girls go through in life and the affect
it has on them when they grow up.
