3. Brainstorm Time...
Mt Tongariro
It erupted recently, was an ash and steam
explosion. Spreading ash everywhere.
People had predicted that it was going to
erupt before it actually happened.
It had started to rumble and had a higher
temperature than usual.
The colour code has now been raised to red.

4. Introduction...
Mt Tongariro is an active volcano in the
Central North Island of New Zealand and is
one of the 3 most active volcanoes in the
North Island.
This volcano has recently erupted, letting out
a heap of ash and steam, this has affected most
cities near it.

know...
How tall in metres is Mt Tongariro?
How many kilometers wide is it?
What type of volcano is it?
Did the volcano let out any sparks of lava?
How was it formed?
Why did the volcano erupt?

How did the volcano
erupt and what type is it?

Scientists believe that the eruption was
caused by a build up of steam deep down in
the crater of the volcano.
According to Wikipedia, Mt Tongariro is a
Complex volcano.
