Slabs are monolithically casted with beams in positive
moment zone
Part of the slab act as a part of the beam
Resist the longitudinal compression
4. Doubly Reinforced
Concrete can not develop the required compressive
force to resist the maximum bending moment
Reinforcement is provided in both compression and
tension zone.
6. WSD Design
Members are design to carry actual/service loads such
that stresses of materials will be within
elastic/allowable stress limit.
The allowable stress limit of concrete and steel are ½
of compressive strength and ½ of yield strength
respectively.
