4. Application Instructions
Always test the concrete to be prepared for previous coatings. This
product will not work properly over coated concrete surfaces and is
not to be used as a chemical coating stripper.
1. Protect all areas not to be cleaned and prepared.
2. Dilute material with water to desired dilution rate.
3. Using a polyethylene pump sprayer, apply at a rate of up to 150-
300 sq. ft. per gallon. An acid brush may be used to brush in
material for a better application. Always use an acid resistant
plastic sprayer and acid resistant brush.
4. Allow 5-10 minutes for proper reaction then rinse thoroughly with
a mop and PH balancing solution (such as water and ammonia, or
water and baking soda). Remove standing water with a wet
vacuum. Repeat until floor is clean and free of all material.
5. Allow the area to dry 18-24 hours.
5. Concrete Etching
For concrete that has a lot of deep stains,
concrete etching is a more common cleaning
solution. Concrete is usually etched with a
muriatic or similar type of acid.
See How To Acid Etch Concrete.
Etching is also a common cleaning solution for
removing paint and some sealers from concrete.
6. Removing Paint and Sealers From
Concrete
Concrete etching is the most popular cleaning
method for removing paint and stains because
the acid eats away just about everything. For a
“safer” solution to removing paints and sealers
there are other products on the market. Unless
you know exactly the brand and type of paint or
sealer used however, removing the paint using
cleaning solutions could be a guessing game.
Citristrip and BEHR manufacture a complete line
of cleaning products.
7. How To Keep Concrete Clean
Once the concrete is clean it is important to
keep it clean for a longer period by using a
concrete sealer. Seal the concrete with one of
the following sealers:
1. Armor S2000 (enhanced sodium silicate)
2. Armor L3000 (enhanced lithium silicate)
3. Armor SX5000 (enhanced silane/siloxane)
