Upon each death there is a rose grows among the

thorns to create the new life meaning…

                      To;

Who shall be alive in my thoughts?

Who shall be in the memory?

                Captain, Saleh …
When I checked that life boat, I asked myself:

                             What shall I do?!

                               Dear reader;

Before I begin in my thoughts & ideas stating, I would like to hear me
                            by your eyes also…

          Be careful it is scrap!

I was very far from the reality when I was working onboard this ship.

Flying highly with the dreams over the clouds…

Well, I tried to say something regarding, how can we reach the green and safe
sailing but sometimes good things go bad so unfortunately, my thoughts & ideas
were nothing except; scrap, hoax and flying highly with the dreams throughout
two months!

Even though I failed, I believe that my success in the pending future shall be as
a result for my mistakes in the past.

                      Naval architect & marine engineer
Preface:

Based on LR statics 2007 there are 89465 ships

These ships are manned at least by 89465×15= 1341975 crewmember, and convey
more than 5m T ballast waters and driven by engines which have at least 70%
CO2 emissions so I post discussions and comments depending on those issues as
the following:

On 03/10/2010 some of the operational challenges facing ship operators today
and in the future,

On 03/29/2010 prepare your ship to implement ballast water convention (as a
temporary procedure by convert the vents into discharge pipes till the ballast
water treatment will be mandatory)
On 03/29/2010, 04/13/2010, 04/17/2010 right solutions of the piracy
On 04/21/2010 the parties who are responsible for any disaster
On 04/25/2010 Air/water ballast system and the challenges regarding the
continuous flushing systems or continuous flow systems

On 04/22/2010, 04/29/2010, 05/05/2010, some proposals to convert the old ships
into green ships

On 05/11/2010 some comments on I am looking for technical opinion on the
issues involved in choosing ballast water treatment systems for different types
of commercial vessels.

On 05/13/2010 Hoax theory on the global warming and the right solution for
the oil spill in the Gulf part 1…

On 05/17/2010 ask for ideas to stop oil spill and the right solution for the oil spill
in the Gulf part 2…

Dreams!

Of course as any person I have dreams…

It was 2007 when the hot sunshine burned my skin and the winds dropped my
helmet onboard MV:Lady Bushra where I dreamt in the Green ship which
would be driven by solar, wind and AZIPOD units.

                            My dreams are invaluable?!

Or, it is hard to be in the reality…
It was 2002 when my brother came back to our home after a short stay in the
Capital and gave me a book which he bought from a books exhibition on the
street… in 2007 when I was in the café with my girl-friends I said maybe you
need me…

You!

We spent two months search on the net ask our fathers' friends also our
supervisor to get the reference and you say, we need you!

Easy easy I said maybe… (They were so angry because they are same the others
can't separate between my jokes and seriousness)

Two days later they told me: our supervisor asks you to borrow your reference.

I haven't the right to lend my reference.

HE IS YOUR DOCTOR AND YOU NEED HIM TO GRADUATE.

Really! I need myself, by the way I haven't the right because you are who have
that as you know my reference is in your homes and it shall be in my home
after you finish your project as you covenant, I don't care even though you
lend it to the devil .

They laughed and said:

Devil, we think that there is no devil against you.

I?! GOD forgives you.

In 2009 I saw how the information transfer from the street to six graduation
projects and 3 books for the supervisor (after approval granting from the
author) to be studied by more than 50 students each year in the university.

Today, after 2 years from my graduation I will be the first graduated who his
name on a book which will be issued by my Doctor to be studied by more than
50 students each year…

It is "Just 10 $"!

Also, this is one of my dreams…
Some of the operational challenges facing ship operators today and in the
future

The optimum ship is the ship which has a good balance between the increasing
of the automation systems and the increase of the paper work, but
unfortunately few owners realize this fact so the number of the detained and
fined ships increases day by day.
Some of the operational challenges facing ship operators today and in the
future:

1- Non-compliance with recommendations and/or conditions of class and/or
IMO:

1-a: when the rules and recommendations of class are not free the possibility of
class withdrawal regarding non-compliance with recommendations and/or
conditions will be more than free ones.
In 2007 the total number of the class withdrawal in ABS was 2/280 class
suspension. (ABS rules are free).
1-b: when the IMO. Documents are free the possibility of implementation will be
more; the main element in the implementation link is the crewmember
especially the lowest rank; if the oiler or sailor must pay money to know about
IMO rules certainly he/she does not care about IMO at all...

2- Confidentiality and data protection:

Once an approval procedure is completed and the new system is approved,
nothing should be regarded as confidential, in this way the ship can be avoided
from wrong decisions being made by IMO inspectorates also she can be manned
by the crew who are fully aware of the procedures.
http://www.ukpandi.com/LPBulletins/BulletinNo.578

3- Alleged pollution incident:

To avoid your vessel from alleged pollution incident approve MAERSK
procedures in oil record book especially the following entries:
Sealing of MARPOL Annex I related valve and/or equipment
Breaking seal on MARPOL Annex I related valve and/or equipment.

4- Grey water:

Most sewage treatment plants are designed to treat black sewage but some
ports require the closing of all sewage overboard valves so to avoid your vessel
and her crew from this critical situation read the following:
4-a: provide the grey water system with a grease separator, or
4-b: provide the grey water system with a connection to bilge water tank, or
4-c: provide your ship with holding tank with enough capacity for duration in
port, or
4-d: provide your ship with a sewage treatment plant which is designed to treat
the black and the grey water.
And in all cases it is better to provide your ship with a sewage record book in
the same form as the ballast water record book which is suggested in Ballast
water management convention, 2004 by IMO, and approve sealing and
breaking seal entries.

5- Operational conditions/requirements related to low sulphur distillate oil and
fuel change over:

Lubricity: especially for fuel injection and gear type pumps,
Viscosity: fuel oil cooler might be necessary in the supply system
Compatibility: solubility of asphaltenes has to be considered (change over
process)
Addition of bio fuels (FAME) could create additional problems like
Compatibility, stability, fouling, hygroscopic.
Loss of delivery pressure: especially for existing pumps at low viscosities
Contamination of low sulphur fuel by other fuels: especially in fuel return lines
The fuel oil/ air ratio
Fuel oil shut off valves /quick closing valves: leakages
For air atomizing burners for LSDO sufficient compressed air has to be
available.

6- Ballast water management convention, 2004:

When the ballast water management enter into force that means that your
ship may be subject to:
5-a: alleged unimplemented DE ballasting procedure so it is better to approve
sealing and breaking seal entries in ballast water record book.
5-b: strict check from BWM 2004 parties so it will be hard for your ship to
avoid the compulsory DE ballasting so your ship may be disposed to the danger
of capsizing as the following:
So it will be better if you provide your ship with a ballast water treatment

plant.

5-c: because the ballast water treatment plant is a new system may be your

ship will subject to inaccurate decisions or she will be manned by the crew who

are not fully aware of the relevant procedures; so ask IMO to implement item 2

above.

7- Cost recovery:

New convention comes; new job comes with new responsibilities and new costs

which are necessary to achieve a safe and clean sailing, where all involved

parties (port state, flag state, class, industrial figures and owners) do their best

to make the marine environment safe and clean because they get money;

Port state, flag state and class get money by means of charges or fees.

Owners have the means to suggest the increase of freight ton, and the power to

get it.

Except seafarer, although he is the main element to reach the safer and cleaner

sea, he has no space and power to ask for an increase of his salary due to the

increase in his job, in spite of 2010 which is called “seafarer year”, so it will be

much better if the involved parties take in their account one of the following:

7-a: addition of a new rank in safe manning documents; ISM officer who is

responsible for paper work;

7-b: some increase in crew salaries and more availability of recommendations

and rules especially the free ones.

                                      10/03/2010

Prepare your ship to implement ballast water convention
Save your money and keep our environment clean, how?!

I will tell you, After class approval granting, convert the vents of

ballast tanks to discharge pipes, then operate ballast pump

continuously while she depart from the donor port till sea waters (at

least 200 nautical miles from the coast and at least 200 m in depth),

by this way nobody can say that your ship convey species from a

high risk donor port, so you keep the environment clean, and nobody

can say that your ship didn't do the DE ballasting, also you avoid her

from DE ballasting in the high seas where may be she suffers from

capsizing risk, while she needs just some modifying in ballast water

piping, so you save your money.

The total number of acts of piracy and armed robbery against ships so far

reported to IMO is 5,224, till 1 January 2010.

I learnt from the history - Arabic Phoenicians – and found in the UK’s
Legislations, that she is a merchant ship nor war ship, and I have the
encouragement to say that she must be protected via all involved parties not
just from owners and by them money.

If you read them carefully, you will find the right solutions for this serious

problem.

1- Ship security plan:

It should be adapted according to ISPS code, MSC circulars and related IMO

resolutions, also it should be modified, as appropriate, to correct deficiencies

and satisfy the security requirements of the ship and crew, where the crew

is the main defender who must be made fully aware of the risks involved

during attacks by pirates and also crew must take into the account that the

early detection of a possible attack may be the most effective deterrent

(when the ship is underway the pirates don’t come by a helicopter or

submarine, they use a rescue boat which can be seen by eyes and by radar),

covering radar blind spots should be considered, and the use of an

appropriately positioned yacht radar may also a good idea. To provide the

crew by weapons isn’t good solution for the reasons below:

1- The work at marine environment is so difficult to the extent which makes a

crewmember aggressive so the crewmembers may use the weapons against

each other’s at least, and in the other side the weapons may convert the

     crewmembers themselves into pirates.

2- The shooting at suspected pirates may impose a legal risk for the master,

ship-owner or company, such as collateral damages.

3- A use firearm against pirates creates firefight which may cause the total

     loss of crew.

4- Use arms onboard ships will create arms race between crew and pirates so

day by day the ship will convert to a warship.

5- Use arms onboard ships in legal manner may increase the possibility of

illegal transfer of arms between countries so more wars and may be world

     war III.
2- Marine industry:

The marine industry is responsible for the following:

1- The Increase of ship’s speed and the improvement of her manoeuvring.

2- To provide the ship by passive and non-lethal measures such as netting, wire,

electric fencing, and long-range acoustic devices or any system may be

appropriate preventive measures to deter attackers and prevent boarding.

3- IMO and Port State Control:

1- ISPS code needs some adaptation regarding the systems and devices which

     may prevent pirates boarding.

2- Adaptation of marine incidents and marine casualties’ definition as specified

in marine incidents and marine casualties investigation code to include the

     piracy incident.

3- Risk assessments: where the next voyage of a ship is in a piracy and armed

robbery threat area it will be useful if the ship subject to ISPS inspection

regardless of her port state inspection schedule.

4- UN Navy forces:

When the attack is made by pirates who use craft or rescue boat, it will be a

good idea if the defence is made by a craft or rescue boat.
5- Some suggestions:

1- As the trust fund is established to protect the environment from the ship

risk, it will be a good decision if a trust fund is established to protect the ship

from the environment risk to cover the following costs:

1- Cost of ship protection in South China Sea, Indian Sea, East Africa,

West Africa, South America (A/P/C), Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf by the UN

navy forces.

2- Compensation for hijacked or missing ships.

2- Piracy incident is occurred as a result of deficiencies happened in the

work of owners and IMO parties so the both must bear the results as the

following:

1- All ships must pay a mandatory charge to significantly contribute to the 50%

     of the trust fund.

2- All IMO parties must contribute to the 50% of the trust fund.

                                Monday, 29 March 2010
I believe in marine industry as a solution for any problem

I find out that fact:

1- In the past when I was walking along the quay at some port, where I saw a

small rat tried to reach our vessel via a mooring rope but the rat's barrier

prevented it,

2- In the present when I see a movie for a ship cutter manufactured by Spurs

marine, which cut the ropes and nets to prevent the possibility of oil leakage

from stern tube, and

3- In the pending future when I will see the pirates cutter (sharp rotating disks

or sharp blades which work in a reciprocating movement, by cut power larger

than the breaking strength of the ropes, wires, cables or chains which are used

by pirates to board the ship) which is provided to a ship in port, at anchor and

underway to prevent the pirates boarding.

Where her voyage is in a piracy and armed robbery threat area she will be as

a QUEEN if she proceeds by full speed, running pirates cutter and protected by

navy rescue boats and sea water monitors, while she is out of coverage area

regarding her communications.

It is so expensive?!

Nothing will be expensive if we want to use her in more than 75% of goods

transfer.

If so please follow my comments to share me in finding the right solutions of this serious problem.

1- SHE IS MERCHANT SHIP NOT WAR SHIP:

It is so wrong to say that armed security is the right solution to deter hijack for the reasons below:

1- The work at marine environment is so difficult to the extent which makes a crewmember
aggressive so the crewmembers may use the weapons against each other’s at least, and in the
other side the weapons may convert the crewmembers themselves into pirates.

4- Use arms onboard ships will create arms race between crew and pirates so day by day the ship
         will convert to a warship.
5- Use arms onboard ships in legal manner may increase the possibility of illegal transfer of
arms between countries so more wars and may be world war III.
2- GOOD ASSESSMENT:

1- Upon each security incident, a security assessment must be done regardless of incident’s success
      or its fail.
2- The security assessment must be done periodically at all levels ship, port facility and port for
adaptation of ship security plan, port facility security plan and port security plan.

3- IMO & PORT STATE CONTROL:

1- ISPS code needs some adaptation regarding the systems and devices which may prevent pirates
      boarding.
2- Adaptation of marine incidents and marine casualties’ definition as specified in marine incidents
and marine casualties investigation code to include the piracy incident.
3- 56,39% of hijacks happened in international & territorial waters between 1998-2009, so our ship
needs help from UN navy forces, but when the attack is made by pirates who use craft or rescue
boat, it will be a good idea if the defence is made by a craft or rescue boat.
4- Risk assessments: where the next voyage of a ship is in a piracy and armed robbery threat area it
will be useful if the ship subject to ISPS inspection regardless of her port state inspection
      schedule.

4- MARINE INDUSTRY:

The marine industry is responsible for the following:
1- The Increase of ship’s speed and the improvement of her manoeuvring.
2- To provide the ship by passive and non-lethal measures such as netting, wire, electric fencing,
and long-range acoustic devices or any system may be appropriate preventive measures to
         deter attackers and prevent boarding.
By the way I believe in marine industry as a solution for any problem

1- In the past when I was walking along the quay at some port, where I saw a small rat tried to
reach our vessel via a mooring rope but the rat's barrier prevented it,
2- In the present when I see a movie for a ship cutter manufactured by Spurs marine, which cut the
ropes and nets to prevent the possibility of oil leakage from stern tube, and
3- In the pending future when I will see the pirates cutter (sharp rotating disks or sharp blades
which work in a reciprocating movement, by cut power larger than the breaking strength of the
ropes, wires, cables or chains which are used by pirates to board the ship) which is provided to a
ship in port, at anchor and underway to prevent the pirates boarding.

Where her voyage is in a piracy and armed robbery threat area she will be as a QUEEN if she proceeds
by full speed, running pirates cutter and protected by navy rescue boats and sea water monitors, while
she is out of coverage area regarding her communications.

It is so expensive?!

Nothing will be expensive if we want to use her in more than 75% of goods transfer.

5- SOME SUGGESTIONS:

Because I believe in closed cycle’s success more than open cycle, I suggest the following:
1- As the trust fund is established to protect the environment from the ship risk, it will be a good
decision if a trust fund is established to protect the ship from the environment risk to cover
         the following costs:
1- Cost of ship protection in South China Sea, Indian Sea, East Africa, West Africa, South
America (A/P/C), Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf by the UN navy forces.
2- Compensation for hijacked or missing ships.
2- Piracy incident is occurred as a result of deficiencies happened in the work of owners and
IMO parties so the both must bear the results as the following:

1- All ships must pay a mandatory charge to significantly contribute to the 50% of the trust fund.

2- All IMO parties must contribute to the 50% of the trust fund.

Finally; Many thanks for your patience.

Together to the green and safe sailing (real story)
Together to the green and safe sailing (real story)

If you someday switch on the TV and watch the sinking incident for a ship then

you know that one of your classmates was onboard and he has been missing

and when you go to your work after a vacation you find a two life boats

besides your work’s place (one as wrecks and the other still has the general

figure) , then an inner voice order you to check that boat and you find the

name of that ship on its bow, then after you have been shocked you be as a

crazy person who doesn’t know what he should search for..

And when you see the cracks in hull and the both motors are so eager to be in

the smelting furnace…

                                     Who do you blame?!

IMO, because it has no power to enforce its parties in international maritime

conventions compliance; or

IMO parties who work slowly in international maritime conventions

compliance; or

Flag state who renews the ship certificates via mail or fax; or

Port state control who be satisfied with random samples for inspection; or

Classification society and the builder who doesn’t define the expire date for

using life boat (I mean to each extent the life boat must be in use 10,20,30…

years)

Owner who considers the cargo operations more important than the

compliance for SOLAS; or

Your classmate who spent one year waiting his opening to work onboard

vessels in spite of his good resume which equalled nothing against the latest

world crisis?!

Or, others

Air/water ballast system and the challenges regarding the continuous flushing
systems or continuous flow systems

04/25/2010

Naval Engineer at Banias Port Authority

You need help from the green ship of the future to get the sufficient air pressure
to control ship buoyancy to use longitudinal trunk method in the ballast
    water management.
By the way as you know
In the past it was ballast rocks system,
At present it is ballast water system/zero ballast water systeml/(air and
water ballast system which you try to design)
In the future maybe air ballast system (without any water)!!

In addition to what they said you can get more information from Arai, Suzuki
& Kora, Yokohama National University, about Ship Buoyancy Control
Compartments which I called it previously air/water ballast system, it is one of
the continuous flow methods (like vents/discharge pipes which you know), but
take into consideration the following:

1- Other methods of Ballast Water Management may also be accepted as
alternatives to the requirements described in paragraphs 1 to 5, provided
that such methods ensure at least the same level of protection to the
environment, human health, property or resources, and are approved in
     principle by the Committee.
2- There are some challenges for the continuous flushing systems or
continuous flow systems like that the problem of transverse frames and
longitudinals in ballast tanks that produce many zones of low or zero
     water flow,

Also for more detailed information you can go to the source:
 http://globallast.imo.org
I agree with you about nothing is new especially when I remember that the
Phoenicians were the merchant ship’s first designer.
For challenges regarding the continuous flushing systems or continuous flow
systems, you can ask class surveyors about the rust, mud and sediments in the
ballast tanks, especially that these methods have no good filtration systems…

Together to the Green and Safe sailing

Is the sulphur content of any fuel oil used globally which will not exceed 0.50%
m/m S on and after 1 January 2020, enough to extinguish the Iceland’s
volcanic? And where is the green ship of the future from that?! Is she an
imaginary vision? Or she is a week fact suspended between the high costs and
unimplemented legislations? Or she is otherwise.
When I was ENG cadet I heard the chief engineer asking who should clean the
main engine scavenges space. The oilers looked at each other to the extent
which generated an inner desire to say, it is my turn, I felt as nobody heard me
so I repeated again by high voice, then the chief said, are you sure?!
I spent six hours in my part cleaning the emissions which was converted into
solid shape and when I finished I took a cup of milk to clean my blood and used
chemical liquid to clean my skin then I asked the chief,
I cleaned the main engine from the solid emissions and the milk cleaned my
blood and the chemical cleaned my skin so who is the cleaner of the sky from
the emissions?!
The chief answered me that the IMO works on adaptation of the MARPOL
Annex VI to reduce the emissions; it was 2007 when my knowledge regarding
IMO’s work was little, and so I ask him why we don’t play our part, at least we
can improve the combustion conditions when we clean air cooler twice instead
of one time within 6 months and increase the air cooler chemical dose, the chief
smiled and said owner’s cargo are waiting us at the next port..
I spent week thinking in the emission’s effects on our global environment
especially that which makes the summer converts to the winter and vice versa,
and when we reached against the Brazilian coasts a heavy rain lasted for an
half hour while I watched the emission which mixed completely with the rain
which became somewhat black, after that heavy rain the sunshine separated
black emission from the water and before our reach the next port the sailors
cleaned the deck and collected the black emission.
Today, I would like to ask two questions,
1- Everything in this life has expire date, why the marine industrial products
have no one?!

I mean the following:
The time of tradition propulsion is overed by the controllable pitch propeller at
least, and of course this time is podded propulsors’ time.
The time of tradition injection system is overed by the common rail fuel
injection system.
2- Why the marine industry works on input more than output, while if it works
on output all old ship and new building ship can be converted into the green
ship simultaneously, and we can reach 2020 before what we expect, (taking into
our consideration “today we see that 0.50% m/m S on and after 1 January 2020,
enough for our climate, in 2020 will it be enough?!”)
Actually I am not here for showing myself as an inventor because, simply you
can call me naval/marine engineer, I studied the both in one branch besides
that I was lazy student; my average was 65.11, I knew my teachers’ names on
registration and I met them on exam asking is there any question, when I
asked I get this answer “are you one of my students..”
I graduated from my university nailing in my mind three equations:
1- P= γV
2- PV= mRT
3- P+2ρV²/g + Z= constant

But on other hand I consider the nature my first teacher, I worked 15 years as
farmer and manager for our farms so I know somewhat how to mix between
what is theory and what is practical besides that I believe there are no new
thoughts or ideas also when somebody say something I believe that there is
another one says that or like that because we are all together colours mixers
where our nature is our source and who said that Newton was able to discover
without the green/red colour?!
I need more than 300 years to be as Newton, but I will take my opportunity to
explain what I learnt from the nature:
In my country on summer’s end (in the latest years as a result for climate
change) each year a dry dusty winds blows from the south mixes with the air
to rain the mud..
The main challenge now and in the future is how we can reach the optimum
condition where we turned back the air to its main characteristics...
I mean to reduce the emissions of SO2, NOx, CO2 up to 100%;
It is hard to be done but not impossible.
What we have:
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) can reduce the emissions of SO2 (100%),
particulates (100%), NOx (90%) and have the potential of reducing CO2 with up
to 25%. (Thanks for Port of Rotterdam Community...)
Sea water scrubbing technology will remove more than 98% of sulphur along
with majority of particulate matter from a 3.5% sulphur residual fuel. (Thanks
for Hamworthy Krystallon..)
Green ship technology will provide the necessary technologies and operational
means to reduce emissions for newbuildings:
- 30 % reduction of CO2 emissions
- 90 % reduction of NOx emissions
- 90 % reduction of SOx emissions
(Thanks for Green ship of the future Group)
Even though IMO said it may be enough, I believe that is very far from what is
enough because we are Gentlemen; the Gentleman is who turns back the thing
which he borrowed in its initial condition or better..
I don’t know exactly, maybe someday we can reach to the green funnel if
marine industry takes into consideration the following:

 Let’s use exhaust speed decreasing stages; we can use exhaust gas’s speed in
electric generation, or maybe by using turbo & compressor in air ballast
system, and

use water injection stages then steam injection stages, condensers, heat
exchangers…
                                                         waters.

separation stage.
If we decrease the speed – as we use the main engine’s exhaust gases in
turbocharger, maybe we can use it directly in generator rotation by using the
constant pressure turbo stage – so we get enough time to deal with exhaust
gases also we improve boiler’s heat exchange and scrubber efficiency then as
British vessels used oil for fuel tanks’ heating before 1970 we can use sea water
for heating sea water in ballast tanks.. (imagine circulating pump circulates
ballast water from ballast tanks to cylindrical tank surrounding the funnel so
we kill the species by heating and we treat the excessive heat), or we can use
the excessive heat in cooling... ventilation..., to decrease exhaust temperature to
the extent which make good conditions for mixing of steam and remaining
exhaust then to enter the mixture in condensation stage (we use steam to clean
funnel sometimes as you know..)
Our climate was designed for us not for others, so it will be so worthy to care by
it, unfortunately the emissions risk increases so fast day by day, you can ask
people who used to clean scavenges space..
So regardless of your position play your part honestly to share in our
environment protection.
You will say it is a very high cost!
I say:
I will not make comparison between what I said and what will happen in the
future.., but I will say that by this manner we impose the costs but we make
some clearance to some cost recovery..
And I will ask:
Is there somebody can tell me about 70% CO2 effects on our global climate?!

                            Wednesday, 05 May 2010
Some comments on I am looking for technical opinion on the issues involved in
choosing ballast water treatment systems for different types of commercial
vessels.

I think that it is so difficult to mix between what is economical and what is safe
in the Ballast-Free Bulk carrier concept, I will be clear..

I will consider here that the trunk construction is like pipe structure so no zero
flow points, also the trunk is anti-fouling so no species suspended and no high
costs for anti-fouling paints or for cleaning on dry-dock ..
And I will ask who may be concern some questions and I look forward to get its
answers;
Can this ship sail safely when she is in ice/water areas?
When she across Gibraltar because her excessive speed (as a result for
decreasing the resistance of ship) she overtakes the grampus but unfortunately
that grampus or a group of them enter the trunk…
Can you say that the grampus will across safely (for the ship and for the
grampus…)?
Or when she sails across some area which is involved in Garbage or oil pollution
spot can you avoid her from fines or can somebody make a good decision
regarding the source of pollution or this ship will be out of the suspects…
When this ship shelter near a small island for more than two days or more…
Did you think that ship will be not a good home for species, fishes, fishing
nets…etc

I think for the above questions and for others, the Ballast-Free Bulk carrier
concept designers think in some isolation valves…
Well I will be more clear..
And I will consider for safety reasons, two isolation valves for each trunk in
each side, this ship will not sail in distillation water, she will sail in sea water
which contains…
So she needs filter for each trunk at least especially because it is flow alongside
so the possibility of matters will be more than if the opening for ballast suction
was port side or starboard side, she discharged her cargoes, valves in open state
and she depart while the weather is bad, some block in some trunk so trunk full
and one half, what can the captain do?

Well he will operate a ballast pump which has piping with side opining to fill
the trunk quickly, and for safety reasons she needs other ballast pump;
You say, other ships have just one;
Well, maybe she subject to the effects of two free liquids surfaces..
So after valves, filters and two ballast pumps, we can say she will sail safely…
But is that enough to protect our marine environment?!
Well, I shall explain something here.
Can some ship which discharged benzene in some port, load naphtha?!
Dear readers some of you know and other don’t..
(Pb suspended pollutes the naphtha, and the washing with hot water can’t solve
the problem..)

Now we know a few kinds of species and know nothing about the others, how it
suspends, transfer or affect…
Again you will say costs, costs & costs…

1- Ballast water management annex to Marpol.
2- Ballast water management certificate is some new entries in IOPP
supplement.
3- Marine industry shows some mercy.
I know that you ask 1&2 are impossible..
I answer:
If IMO separates for some reasons regarding low matters, that isn’t meaning
that marine industry can’t mix…
We use exhaust gases to decrease O2 to avoid the explosion so can we use it in
species killing where all kinds of species needs O2 to stay alive…
Or can we use the excessive heat for that purpose…
Or, other methods...

We can imagine and we can think then decide & design..
Just the practise and sea service can determine design success..
Old oil tankers designers thought, decided and designed the single hull,
imagine that they expect collision and oil pollution and the high costs of
prewashing and delays, I think that you agree with me and say:
If they imagined that, they would design double hull..
I didn't talk about ballast tank, I talk about trunks like pipe's structure,
I ask you friendly to do this:
full a vessel by water and spread some small pieces of paper and make a spot
then move small body (which has ship's design) quickly and watch the bow how
works as separator via the waves..
I think also that you agree with me that we use seawater to low G centre, and
to make good stability for ordinary ship and free ballast ship which has same
dimensions we use same quantity of seawater, and the water can make free
surface regardless of its vessel (cubic, ball, cylinder, pipe....)
and also I will ask you friendly to do another thing..
Could you please choose a vessel with more than one year sea service after her
dry dock, and check seawater filters where emergency fire pump and ballast
pump suction.

Hoax theory on the global warming and the right solution for the oil spill in
the Gulf part 1…

Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me..

When I registered in linkedin on 03/14/2010
I read the following;
Over 65 million professionals use LinkedIn to exchange information, ideas and
opportunities.
But I didn’t imagine that by this short time I will reach to 3266
commentators,
Please, please and please give me the time to read your valuable comments you
can get a vacation for short period forget the net and web news and make a
tour around the world.., or go to the villages in your country, and search for
the olds who didn’t know the computers, they have practise and knowledge
more than you imagine..
You haven’t the time, or ..
Don’t worry I will tell you what I know
Before I am a naval architect & marine engineer I was farmer and manager
for our farms in my village, I wait the rain and the sunshine.. And I heard
people who lived more than ten decades..
This year throughout April no rain also we let the door open in the Christmas
night..
When I ask the olds in my village they said it is the first time..
In 2008 I spent throughout February in Odessa where I wear my jacket once, or
twice
Also I asked the olds via my girl-friend they said it is the first time
I visited Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Turkey, …
Same same I get this answer:
It is the first time; or
Our climate changes rapidly
Today Iceland’s volcanic?!
Ok, cancel all the above
Yes, the Global Warming is the hoax!
My friend;
You use the excessive heat in cooling.. in ventilation,.
Finally,
Before this day I blamed the industry professionals for our global warming..
Now I understand you, because up till now you don’t know if our global
warming is/isn’t a hoax,
And friendly I ask you to answer my discussion

                                    05/13/2010
If you believe that our Global Warming is a hoax, why you are member in
Green?!

Special thanks for you (all commentators here) and for everybody who
                     comments on that valuable discussion,
Actually after I read some of those comments I don't know why I remembered
                                  the big bang..
                              There are two teams:
A: who says that our global warming isn’t a hoax..
B: who says that our global warming is a hoax..
Someday the truth shall appear, tomorrow.., after one year.., 10,20… I don’t
                                 know exactly..
I will suppose that will happen after 10 years, as the following (I take into the
consideration that nobody forces you to be A or to be B and also you invite
                               what you believe):
                           1- A: wrong and B: right
A(%) works on excessive heat treating and doesn’t care by other reason for our
                                    climate change
B(%) doesn’t care or search for other reasons for our climate change
                           2- A: right and B: wrong
A(%) works on the excessive heat treating and doesn’t care by other reason for
                                 our climate change
B(%) doesn’t care or search for other reasons for our climate change

In the first case we lose the efforts of A&B or at least A in finding the right
                                          reason
In the second we lose the efforts of B

So let’s find AB team as the following:
A works on the excessive heat treating and in the meantime search for other
                                        reasons
B Search for other reasons and in the meantime works on the excessive heat
                                       treating
By this team I think that our global climate shall be fine

                          Again many thanks for you

PM and AM, Sun and moon, Man and Woman...are very very different, but
each one need other to create the meaning of our life..
I don't know if Newton was like the apple or not and I don't care for that, I am
interested in Newton's Law, also I think everything in this life has two faces
and for each question there is an answer Y,N..
Let's discuss till when we know and lose time and efforts and ..
When I stop my comments please don't consider that I can’t answer or reply,
but consider that I have other thing I do..
                             Thank you very much
                                  Best regards

                                 Dear all A&B

I read before I request to join to Green group the following:
Green is for those who want to share ideas on environment, climate change,
renewable energy, clean tech, sustainability, CSR and Green issues
Also I get this invitation from Green Manager and I am very delighted and
honoured to have such one. (Tarek, Come to the first Green group event
Communicating Sustainability 2010 on the 7th of June in Central London to
meet, listen and learn from some of the greatest minds in advertising,
communications, brand marketing and business strategy..)

Actually I posted this discussion to find something new and more useful…
I don’t know why it moved to jobs discussion; I post this question to prepare for
different kind of discussion between A & B..
For my opinion regarding our global warming I say:
The scientists didn’t surprise me with the big bang..
I said that to invite every open mind person in the team A to stop struggle and
make something different, I mean working on the excessive heat and search for
other reasons for our climate change, and to invite every open mind person in
the team B to stop struggle and make something different, I mean search for
other reasons for our climate change, and working on the excessive heat,
And in the meantime I ask kindly every person in the both teams to stop
posting here, and to join my next discussion to learn me (especially because I
can’t be in London for some reasons to learn about Green) about haw can we be
                                   more gentles?!

Dear brother/sister in Green, how can we be more gentles?!

In my opinion, the gentle person is who turns back what he has borrowed as it
                                  was or better…
                          So he conserves and protects…
We use air and fuel in combustion chamber to get energy and produce CO2…
At least we can’t inhale CO2…
So how can we turn the air and the fuel to them initial condition or to use them
                              in something useful…
Dear reader I am so interested in your opinion but please take into
consideration that you abort this discussion when:
Of course, if you leave me out, you delete it or move it to Job discussion; or
You fight or struggle instead of discuss; or
You post links more than your thoughts because I find your opinion more
                            valuable than the links;
Please let’s share our thoughts and work together to conserve and protect
                                simultaneously…
                             Thank you very much

                    Special thanks for www.linkedin.com
                           Saturday, 08 May 2010
                                    Tarek

When we extinguish a fire in some forest we make barriers or some arid areas
to separate what is burning from what we can conserve, but is that enough?!
We must treat the fire source directly..
I don’t mean to stop CO2 emissions directly, because simply it is so hard to be
                                      done..
I think that it will be a good idea if we work on three levels:
                          1- Increase our green forests;
2- Decrease our energy consumption; and
                           3- Treat the CO2 emissions.
And in my opinion I consider that it is very important to begin in CO2
emissions treat, because I have some thoughts regarding, and I will explain it
below, and please take into consideration that my thoughts are based on my
knowledge and information regarding how I realize the nature…
But I ask you friendly to let me complete…

I will consider here the following:

The heat transfers from the sun to the earth so hot air currents transfer from
the hot place to the cold place.
Our plant consists of 70% water and 30%land.
All kind of trees inhale O2 and release CO2 during the nights, and vice versa,
Trees work as pump with a defined suction pressure..
The temperature of CO2 gas is higher than O2,
Ozone layer expands in high temperatures and shrinks in low temperature,
When CO2 accumulates in large amount it form a layer which decrease heat
transfer through, and it reflects the heat
Ozone layer receives in a define position the heat from the sun during the
daylight and from the earth during the night and this layer expands under
                                   heat effect.
And also I will consider the following:
1- The rays can reflect on some surface just when it makes an angle with that
                                     surface,
2- Our earth has three rotation movement, around itself, around the sun,
around the centre of universe so it’s axis has different positions but when some
point be closer to the sun there is another point far from the sun.
And I ask you friendly to do two things:
1- Put a mirror against the light ray then put it where forms 0 angle with that
                                      ray; and
2- Light a candle and watch it smoke then fix a blank paper on a horizontal
distance from the smoke and spray some water vertically against the paper
                               and watch the paper.

Dear reader I do this way to state my thoughts to be sure that large number
from the interested read it to correct it kindly and to learn me because I
consider myself student here, and in the meantime to get enough time to
                            manage my thoughts.

Nature before human and his activities:

Large green areas on land take O2 in night and pump CO2 in addition to CO2
from animals so at night air currents blow from lands to the upper layers in
                        the atmosphere above the water.
Large green areas on land take CO2 in daylight and pump O2 so at daylight the
air currents blow from waters to the upper layers in the atmosphere above the
                                       land.
                         Heavy rainfall mixes with CO2
So the earth is in balance regarding CO2
                                   Ozone layer:
It is exposed to the direct sunshine heat and to the reflected sunshine heat
which spends defined time (T) to reach it in the daylight so it expands in (A)
amount and at night it shrinks in (B) amount, so we can say also that Ozone
                                layer is in balance.

Earth axis changes where some area becomes more close to the sun

so it is exposed to some increase (C) amount in the heat at daylight and loose at
night (D) amount and in the meantime because the earth is like ball so if we
move away from that area we move away from the sun so that area has high
temperature comparing with the others so hot air currents in the lower layer
blow from that area to the other so it lose (C-D) amount, so also we can say that
area in balance…
I love the nature because she is Queen, clever manager, clean and self-
independent…
Dear reader, I ask you friendly to do two things:

1- Light a candle and put above its fire on a reasonable distance two balloons
(same material) one ball and the second tube then watch which explode at first.
2- Light a lamp on a vessel contains water and put black paper between the
                                 both and watch.
Tomorrow I will talk about how we are very stupid and selfish simultaneously..

                                 Dear reader:

Before I continue my thoughts I would like to say something here:
I wouldn’t like to play devil’s advocate with anyone who says “Nature can’t
teach or farmers and folks know nothing”, because we don’t need to defend
farmers, folks and nature especially when you remember the following:
Human used stones from ground, use papers from trees and use carbon in the
computers to store and do his activities so the nature knows about us more
than what we know about her..
You can know your sons’ eyes colour before they are born because “Sir Darwin”
                                    was farmer..
Charles Dickens is Charles Dickens because he wrote his pain..
I thanks the GOD because I have the pain, I was farmer and I love the nature..

                      Nature, human and his activities:

Less green areas on land take %O2 in night and pump %CO2 in addition to CO2
from animals, CO2 human and his activities so at night air currents blow from
lands to the upper layers in the atmosphere above the water.
Less green areas on land take %CO2 in daylight and pump %O2 in addition to
CO2 from animals, CO2 human and his activities so at night air currents blow
from waters to the upper layers in the atmosphere above the land.
                            Rainfalls mix with %CO2.
Well, you can find out easily that there is strange body in the atmosphere it is
                               large amount of CO2

CO2 emissions effects on our resources:

When CO2 accumulates in upper layers above the waters it forms CO2 layer

which minimizes sunshine access to the waters so less evaporation and less and

                               less and less rain.
CO2 emissions effects on Ozone layer:

When CO2 accumulate in upper layers near the ozone layer it forms CO2 layer
which reflects (S1) sunshine to the Ozone layer after defined time (%T) and
stores the heat in (S2) amount to lose it quickly at night to reach Ozone layer
after defined time (%T) and the remaining (S3) reach Ozone layer after (T) time
at daylight, so Ozone layer expands in (A+ %A) amount at daylight and at
night it shrinks in (%B) amount, so Ozone layer expands and expands and
                                      expands.
CO2 emissions effects on some area which is more close to the sun as a result for
                                 earth axis change:
Now I want to talk about north and south, as you know the north is rich by
lands and man activities so high CO2 ratio on north, and the South is poor by
lands and man activities so low CO2 ratio, the nature is so gentle and she wants
to do her ability so CO2 moves from north to south where there is no rain so
CO2 increases and increases and increases, and when earth axis changes where
some area in the south becomes more close to the sun but it has rich CO2 layer
so it is exposed to some increase (%C) amount in the heat at daylight and loose
at night (%D) but now the other areas have higher temperature so the hot air
currents in the lower layers blows toward that area so we can see easily that
area under warming in (C-D) amount.

If you realize the nature you can easily find out that the nature works on
closed cycle system, and because we are so selfish and stupid we still work
                                  on open cycle system…
Dear reader thanks for your patience…
By the way I am not from A or B team because I am student in EPACT
(Earth Protection And Conservation Team) which works on three levels
                                with closed cycle system:
                               1- Treat the CO2 emissions,
                         2- Decrease our energy consumption,
                             3- Increase our green forests.
So, dear Sister/Brother do you agree with me?
                                    Dear reader;
For each study there is summary but because I am student here so I forgot it,
excuse me (I hate to repeat…)
Please if you read something annoy you please be informed that I wrote that
thing to another person who know,
                                  My Dear teacher;
Please take into consideration the following:
                       I spent 2 days thinking in this issue;
     My thoughts are based on the tasks which I ask you to do it friendly;
        Maybe there are some minor mistakes regarding the language;
Summary

AS STATED ABOVE IN MY COMMENTS:

I DON’T MEAN TO STOP CO2 EMISSIONS DIRECTLY, BECAUSE SIMPLY IT

IS SO HARD TO BE DONE…(COMMENT No2 ) CO2 IS FROM OUR BODIES

WE CANT INSTALL AN EQUIPMENT TO TREAT THAT CO2 …

I THINK THAT CO2 FROM ANIMALS BEFORE HUMANS EQUALS CO2

                 FROM ANIMAL AND HUMANS…

OH, I FORGET AGAIN I SHALL EXPLAIN TO THE LAST WORD..

THE DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF ANIMALS KINDS AND ITS

            FIGURES EQUALS POPULATION INCREASE.

DEAR ENGINEER, THE NATURE WAS IN BALANCE BEFORE HUMANS

AND THE NUTURE CAN BE IN BALANCE IF HUMANS RECPECT

                          NATURE’S LOWS…

                             OH, AGAIN..

MY THOUGHTS ARE BASED ON CO2 ISSUE, BUT YOU CAN PUT INSTEAD

OF THAT GAS ANOTHER ONE AND GO ON YOUR MISSION AND

IMPLEMENT CLOSED CYCLE SYSTEM WHEN YOU IMAGINE, THINK,

                       DECIDE AND DESIGN.

If you can’t, please try to find something useful
05-13-2010 when I tried to do something good…

There is no way to stop oil spill except they begin from the end

From: Tarek Jabour

They must begin from the sea water surface by using pipe till where they
decide to put the plug as the following:
The pressure on that plug must be calculated, I will suppose it (A)
They must design the same pipe (material and thickness) which was used
On each connection they must put a weight equals A/N; N: number of the
connection
Of course the diameter of the pipe must be less than the previous one
I don't believe that plug will stop oil spill because they will need to use another
one..
Anyway I hope that they success by plug putting

Now they must fix the box leakage with a base for a new pipe 2 reach to the
final position

Box leakage must be fixed between the damaged pipe and the new pipe 1
After new pipe 2 fixing the weights must be removed at first then the new pipe
1 must be blocked with emergency plug (the new pipe 1 must be in this situation
till a new pipe from well till the final position)

Very important remark:
They must prepare a large number of the high heavy viscosity pumps…
Even though I failed again, I believe that we must work together because we
live in the same plant so I asked all professionals the following:

05/17/2010

Behind each disaster there is a minor mistake, but all inventions begin in a
                                 simple idea.
Do you have any idea to stop oil spill in the Gulf, and after oil spill stop do you
agree with oil burning as a last solution?

Scrap, Hoax And Flying Highly With The Dreams Throughout Two Months!

  • 1. Upon each death there is a rose grows among the thorns to create the new life meaning… To; Who shall be alive in my thoughts? Who shall be in the memory? Captain, Saleh …
  • 2. When I checked that life boat, I asked myself: What shall I do?! Dear reader; Before I begin in my thoughts & ideas stating, I would like to hear me by your eyes also… Be careful it is scrap! Open the hyperlink; Rose & candle are the Hoax?!
  • 3. I was very far from the reality when I was working onboard this ship. Flying highly with the dreams over the clouds… Well, I tried to say something regarding, how can we reach the green and safe sailing but sometimes good things go bad so unfortunately, my thoughts & ideas were nothing except; scrap, hoax and flying highly with the dreams throughout two months! Even though I failed, I believe that my success in the pending future shall be as a result for my mistakes in the past. Sunday, 30 May 2010 Tarek Antton Jabour Naval architect & marine engineer
  • 4. Preface: Based on LR statics 2007 there are 89465 ships These ships are manned at least by 89465×15= 1341975 crewmember, and convey more than 5m T ballast waters and driven by engines which have at least 70% CO2 emissions so I post discussions and comments depending on those issues as the following: On 03/10/2010 some of the operational challenges facing ship operators today and in the future, On 03/29/2010 prepare your ship to implement ballast water convention (as a temporary procedure by convert the vents into discharge pipes till the ballast water treatment will be mandatory) On 03/29/2010, 04/13/2010, 04/17/2010 right solutions of the piracy On 04/21/2010 the parties who are responsible for any disaster On 04/25/2010 Air/water ballast system and the challenges regarding the continuous flushing systems or continuous flow systems On 04/22/2010, 04/29/2010, 05/05/2010, some proposals to convert the old ships into green ships On 05/11/2010 some comments on I am looking for technical opinion on the issues involved in choosing ballast water treatment systems for different types of commercial vessels. On 05/13/2010 Hoax theory on the global warming and the right solution for the oil spill in the Gulf part 1… On 05/17/2010 ask for ideas to stop oil spill and the right solution for the oil spill in the Gulf part 2… Dreams! Of course as any person I have dreams… It was 2007 when the hot sunshine burned my skin and the winds dropped my helmet onboard MV:Lady Bushra where I dreamt in the Green ship which would be driven by solar, wind and AZIPOD units. My dreams are invaluable?! Or, it is hard to be in the reality…
  • 5. It was 2002 when my brother came back to our home after a short stay in the Capital and gave me a book which he bought from a books exhibition on the street… in 2007 when I was in the café with my girl-friends I said maybe you need me… You! We spent two months search on the net ask our fathers' friends also our supervisor to get the reference and you say, we need you! Easy easy I said maybe… (They were so angry because they are same the others can't separate between my jokes and seriousness) Two days later they told me: our supervisor asks you to borrow your reference. I haven't the right to lend my reference. HE IS YOUR DOCTOR AND YOU NEED HIM TO GRADUATE. Really! I need myself, by the way I haven't the right because you are who have that as you know my reference is in your homes and it shall be in my home after you finish your project as you covenant, I don't care even though you lend it to the devil . They laughed and said: Devil, we think that there is no devil against you. I?! GOD forgives you. In 2009 I saw how the information transfer from the street to six graduation projects and 3 books for the supervisor (after approval granting from the author) to be studied by more than 50 students each year in the university. Today, after 2 years from my graduation I will be the first graduated who his name on a book which will be issued by my Doctor to be studied by more than 50 students each year… It is "Just 10 $"! Also, this is one of my dreams…
  • 6. Some of the operational challenges facing ship operators today and in the future The optimum ship is the ship which has a good balance between the increasing of the automation systems and the increase of the paper work, but unfortunately few owners realize this fact so the number of the detained and fined ships increases day by day. Some of the operational challenges facing ship operators today and in the future: 1- Non-compliance with recommendations and/or conditions of class and/or IMO: 1-a: when the rules and recommendations of class are not free the possibility of class withdrawal regarding non-compliance with recommendations and/or conditions will be more than free ones. In 2007 the total number of the class withdrawal in ABS was 2/280 class suspension. (ABS rules are free). 1-b: when the IMO. Documents are free the possibility of implementation will be more; the main element in the implementation link is the crewmember especially the lowest rank; if the oiler or sailor must pay money to know about IMO rules certainly he/she does not care about IMO at all... 2- Confidentiality and data protection: Once an approval procedure is completed and the new system is approved, nothing should be regarded as confidential, in this way the ship can be avoided from wrong decisions being made by IMO inspectorates also she can be manned by the crew who are fully aware of the procedures. http://www.ukpandi.com/LPBulletins/BulletinNo.578 3- Alleged pollution incident: To avoid your vessel from alleged pollution incident approve MAERSK procedures in oil record book especially the following entries: Sealing of MARPOL Annex I related valve and/or equipment Breaking seal on MARPOL Annex I related valve and/or equipment. 4- Grey water: Most sewage treatment plants are designed to treat black sewage but some ports require the closing of all sewage overboard valves so to avoid your vessel and her crew from this critical situation read the following: 4-a: provide the grey water system with a grease separator, or
  • 7. 4-b: provide the grey water system with a connection to bilge water tank, or 4-c: provide your ship with holding tank with enough capacity for duration in port, or 4-d: provide your ship with a sewage treatment plant which is designed to treat the black and the grey water. And in all cases it is better to provide your ship with a sewage record book in the same form as the ballast water record book which is suggested in Ballast water management convention, 2004 by IMO, and approve sealing and breaking seal entries. 5- Operational conditions/requirements related to low sulphur distillate oil and fuel change over: Lubricity: especially for fuel injection and gear type pumps, Viscosity: fuel oil cooler might be necessary in the supply system Compatibility: solubility of asphaltenes has to be considered (change over process) Addition of bio fuels (FAME) could create additional problems like Compatibility, stability, fouling, hygroscopic. Loss of delivery pressure: especially for existing pumps at low viscosities Contamination of low sulphur fuel by other fuels: especially in fuel return lines The fuel oil/ air ratio Fuel oil shut off valves /quick closing valves: leakages For air atomizing burners for LSDO sufficient compressed air has to be available. 6- Ballast water management convention, 2004: When the ballast water management enter into force that means that your ship may be subject to: 5-a: alleged unimplemented DE ballasting procedure so it is better to approve sealing and breaking seal entries in ballast water record book. 5-b: strict check from BWM 2004 parties so it will be hard for your ship to avoid the compulsory DE ballasting so your ship may be disposed to the danger of capsizing as the following:
  • 8. So it will be better if you provide your ship with a ballast water treatment plant. 5-c: because the ballast water treatment plant is a new system may be your ship will subject to inaccurate decisions or she will be manned by the crew who are not fully aware of the relevant procedures; so ask IMO to implement item 2 above. 7- Cost recovery: New convention comes; new job comes with new responsibilities and new costs which are necessary to achieve a safe and clean sailing, where all involved parties (port state, flag state, class, industrial figures and owners) do their best to make the marine environment safe and clean because they get money; Port state, flag state and class get money by means of charges or fees. Owners have the means to suggest the increase of freight ton, and the power to get it. Except seafarer, although he is the main element to reach the safer and cleaner sea, he has no space and power to ask for an increase of his salary due to the increase in his job, in spite of 2010 which is called “seafarer year”, so it will be much better if the involved parties take in their account one of the following: 7-a: addition of a new rank in safe manning documents; ISM officer who is responsible for paper work; 7-b: some increase in crew salaries and more availability of recommendations and rules especially the free ones. 10/03/2010 Prepare your ship to implement ballast water convention
  • 9. Save your money and keep our environment clean, how?! I will tell you, After class approval granting, convert the vents of ballast tanks to discharge pipes, then operate ballast pump continuously while she depart from the donor port till sea waters (at least 200 nautical miles from the coast and at least 200 m in depth), by this way nobody can say that your ship convey species from a high risk donor port, so you keep the environment clean, and nobody can say that your ship didn't do the DE ballasting, also you avoid her from DE ballasting in the high seas where may be she suffers from capsizing risk, while she needs just some modifying in ballast water piping, so you save your money. • 10. The total number of acts of piracy and armed robbery against ships so far reported to IMO is 5,224, till 1 January 2010. I learnt from the history - Arabic Phoenicians – and found in the UK’s Legislations, that she is a merchant ship nor war ship, and I have the encouragement to say that she must be protected via all involved parties not just from owners and by them money. Could you please follow the statistics below? • 11. If you read them carefully, you will find the right solutions for this serious problem. 1- Ship security plan: It should be adapted according to ISPS code, MSC circulars and related IMO resolutions, also it should be modified, as appropriate, to correct deficiencies and satisfy the security requirements of the ship and crew, where the crew is the main defender who must be made fully aware of the risks involved during attacks by pirates and also crew must take into the account that the early detection of a possible attack may be the most effective deterrent (when the ship is underway the pirates don’t come by a helicopter or submarine, they use a rescue boat which can be seen by eyes and by radar), covering radar blind spots should be considered, and the use of an appropriately positioned yacht radar may also a good idea. To provide the crew by weapons isn’t good solution for the reasons below: 1- The work at marine environment is so difficult to the extent which makes a crewmember aggressive so the crewmembers may use the weapons against each other’s at least, and in the other side the weapons may convert the crewmembers themselves into pirates. 2- The shooting at suspected pirates may impose a legal risk for the master, ship-owner or company, such as collateral damages. 3- A use firearm against pirates creates firefight which may cause the total loss of crew. 4- Use arms onboard ships will create arms race between crew and pirates so day by day the ship will convert to a warship. 5- Use arms onboard ships in legal manner may increase the possibility of illegal transfer of arms between countries so more wars and may be world war III.
  • 12. 2- Marine industry: The marine industry is responsible for the following: 1- The Increase of ship’s speed and the improvement of her manoeuvring. 2- To provide the ship by passive and non-lethal measures such as netting, wire, electric fencing, and long-range acoustic devices or any system may be appropriate preventive measures to deter attackers and prevent boarding. 3- IMO and Port State Control: 1- ISPS code needs some adaptation regarding the systems and devices which may prevent pirates boarding. 2- Adaptation of marine incidents and marine casualties’ definition as specified in marine incidents and marine casualties investigation code to include the piracy incident. 3- Risk assessments: where the next voyage of a ship is in a piracy and armed robbery threat area it will be useful if the ship subject to ISPS inspection regardless of her port state inspection schedule. 4- UN Navy forces: When the attack is made by pirates who use craft or rescue boat, it will be a good idea if the defence is made by a craft or rescue boat.
  • 13. 5- Some suggestions: 1- As the trust fund is established to protect the environment from the ship risk, it will be a good decision if a trust fund is established to protect the ship from the environment risk to cover the following costs: 1- Cost of ship protection in South China Sea, Indian Sea, East Africa, West Africa, South America (A/P/C), Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf by the UN navy forces. 2- Compensation for hijacked or missing ships. 2- Piracy incident is occurred as a result of deficiencies happened in the work of owners and IMO parties so the both must bear the results as the following: 1- All ships must pay a mandatory charge to significantly contribute to the 50% of the trust fund. 2- All IMO parties must contribute to the 50% of the trust fund. Monday, 29 March 2010
  • 14. I believe in marine industry as a solution for any problem I find out that fact: 1- In the past when I was walking along the quay at some port, where I saw a small rat tried to reach our vessel via a mooring rope but the rat's barrier prevented it, 2- In the present when I see a movie for a ship cutter manufactured by Spurs marine, which cut the ropes and nets to prevent the possibility of oil leakage from stern tube, and 3- In the pending future when I will see the pirates cutter (sharp rotating disks or sharp blades which work in a reciprocating movement, by cut power larger than the breaking strength of the ropes, wires, cables or chains which are used by pirates to board the ship) which is provided to a ship in port, at anchor and underway to prevent the pirates boarding. Where her voyage is in a piracy and armed robbery threat area she will be as a QUEEN if she proceeds by full speed, running pirates cutter and protected by navy rescue boats and sea water monitors, while she is out of coverage area regarding her communications. It is so expensive?! Nothing will be expensive if we want to use her in more than 75% of goods transfer. Tuesday, April 13, 2010
  • 15. What can we do when the numbers ask us to play our part?! The total number of acts of piracy and armed robbery against ships so far reported to IMO is 5,224, till 1 January 2010. If so please follow my comments to share me in finding the right solutions of this serious problem. 1- SHE IS MERCHANT SHIP NOT WAR SHIP: It is so wrong to say that armed security is the right solution to deter hijack for the reasons below: 1- The work at marine environment is so difficult to the extent which makes a crewmember aggressive so the crewmembers may use the weapons against each other’s at least, and in the other side the weapons may convert the crewmembers themselves into pirates. 2- The shooting at suspected pirates may impose a legal risk for the master, ship-owner or company, such as collateral damages. 3- A use firearm against pirates creates firefight which may cause the total loss of crew.
  • 16. 4- Use arms onboard ships will create arms race between crew and pirates so day by day the ship will convert to a warship. 5- Use arms onboard ships in legal manner may increase the possibility of illegal transfer of arms between countries so more wars and may be world war III. 2- GOOD ASSESSMENT: 1- Upon each security incident, a security assessment must be done regardless of incident’s success or its fail. 2- The security assessment must be done periodically at all levels ship, port facility and port for adaptation of ship security plan, port facility security plan and port security plan. 3- IMO & PORT STATE CONTROL: 1- ISPS code needs some adaptation regarding the systems and devices which may prevent pirates boarding. 2- Adaptation of marine incidents and marine casualties’ definition as specified in marine incidents and marine casualties investigation code to include the piracy incident. 3- 56,39% of hijacks happened in international & territorial waters between 1998-2009, so our ship needs help from UN navy forces, but when the attack is made by pirates who use craft or rescue boat, it will be a good idea if the defence is made by a craft or rescue boat. 4- Risk assessments: where the next voyage of a ship is in a piracy and armed robbery threat area it will be useful if the ship subject to ISPS inspection regardless of her port state inspection schedule. 4- MARINE INDUSTRY: The marine industry is responsible for the following: 1- The Increase of ship’s speed and the improvement of her manoeuvring. 2- To provide the ship by passive and non-lethal measures such as netting, wire, electric fencing, and long-range acoustic devices or any system may be appropriate preventive measures to deter attackers and prevent boarding.

  • 18. Together to the green and safe sailing (real story) If you someday switch on the TV and watch the sinking incident for a ship then you know that one of your classmates was onboard and he has been missing and when you go to your work after a vacation you find a two life boats besides your work’s place (one as wrecks and the other still has the general figure) , then an inner voice order you to check that boat and you find the name of that ship on its bow, then after you have been shocked you be as a crazy person who doesn’t know what he should search for.. And when you see the cracks in hull and the both motors are so eager to be in the smelting furnace… Who do you blame?! IMO, because it has no power to enforce its parties in international maritime conventions compliance; or IMO parties who work slowly in international maritime conventions compliance; or Flag state who renews the ship certificates via mail or fax; or Port state control who be satisfied with random samples for inspection; or Classification society and the builder who doesn’t define the expire date for using life boat (I mean to each extent the life boat must be in use 10,20,30… years) Owner who considers the cargo operations more important than the compliance for SOLAS; or Your classmate who spent one year waiting his opening to work onboard vessels in spite of his good resume which equalled nothing against the latest world crisis?! Or, others Wednesday, 21 April 2010
  • 19. Air/water ballast system and the challenges regarding the continuous flushing systems or continuous flow systems 04/25/2010 Naval Engineer at Banias Port Authority You need help from the green ship of the future to get the sufficient air pressure to control ship buoyancy to use longitudinal trunk method in the ballast water management. By the way as you know In the past it was ballast rocks system, At present it is ballast water system/zero ballast water systeml/(air and water ballast system which you try to design) In the future maybe air ballast system (without any water)!! In addition to what they said you can get more information from Arai, Suzuki & Kora, Yokohama National University, about Ship Buoyancy Control Compartments which I called it previously air/water ballast system, it is one of the continuous flow methods (like vents/discharge pipes which you know), but take into consideration the following: 1- Other methods of Ballast Water Management may also be accepted as alternatives to the requirements described in paragraphs 1 to 5, provided that such methods ensure at least the same level of protection to the environment, human health, property or resources, and are approved in principle by the Committee. 2- There are some challenges for the continuous flushing systems or continuous flow systems like that the problem of transverse frames and longitudinals in ballast tanks that produce many zones of low or zero water flow, Also for more detailed information you can go to the source: http://globallast.imo.org I agree with you about nothing is new especially when I remember that the Phoenicians were the merchant ship’s first designer. For challenges regarding the continuous flushing systems or continuous flow systems, you can ask class surveyors about the rust, mud and sediments in the ballast tanks, especially that these methods have no good filtration systems… Naval engineer Tarek jabour
  • 20. 04/22/2010, 04/29/2010, 05/05/2010 Together to the Green and Safe sailing Is the sulphur content of any fuel oil used globally which will not exceed 0.50% m/m S on and after 1 January 2020, enough to extinguish the Iceland’s volcanic? And where is the green ship of the future from that?! Is she an imaginary vision? Or she is a week fact suspended between the high costs and unimplemented legislations? Or she is otherwise. When I was ENG cadet I heard the chief engineer asking who should clean the main engine scavenges space. The oilers looked at each other to the extent which generated an inner desire to say, it is my turn, I felt as nobody heard me so I repeated again by high voice, then the chief said, are you sure?! I spent six hours in my part cleaning the emissions which was converted into solid shape and when I finished I took a cup of milk to clean my blood and used chemical liquid to clean my skin then I asked the chief, I cleaned the main engine from the solid emissions and the milk cleaned my blood and the chemical cleaned my skin so who is the cleaner of the sky from the emissions?! The chief answered me that the IMO works on adaptation of the MARPOL Annex VI to reduce the emissions; it was 2007 when my knowledge regarding IMO’s work was little, and so I ask him why we don’t play our part, at least we can improve the combustion conditions when we clean air cooler twice instead of one time within 6 months and increase the air cooler chemical dose, the chief smiled and said owner’s cargo are waiting us at the next port.. I spent week thinking in the emission’s effects on our global environment especially that which makes the summer converts to the winter and vice versa, and when we reached against the Brazilian coasts a heavy rain lasted for an half hour while I watched the emission which mixed completely with the rain which became somewhat black, after that heavy rain the sunshine separated black emission from the water and before our reach the next port the sailors cleaned the deck and collected the black emission. Today, I would like to ask two questions, 1- Everything in this life has expire date, why the marine industrial products have no one?! I mean the following: The time of tradition propulsion is overed by the controllable pitch propeller at least, and of course this time is podded propulsors’ time. The time of tradition injection system is overed by the common rail fuel injection system. 2- Why the marine industry works on input more than output, while if it works on output all old ship and new building ship can be converted into the green
  • 21. ship simultaneously, and we can reach 2020 before what we expect, (taking into our consideration “today we see that 0.50% m/m S on and after 1 January 2020, enough for our climate, in 2020 will it be enough?!”) Actually I am not here for showing myself as an inventor because, simply you can call me naval/marine engineer, I studied the both in one branch besides that I was lazy student; my average was 65.11, I knew my teachers’ names on registration and I met them on exam asking is there any question, when I asked I get this answer “are you one of my students..” I graduated from my university nailing in my mind three equations: 1- P= γV 2- PV= mRT 3- P+2ρV²/g + Z= constant But on other hand I consider the nature my first teacher, I worked 15 years as farmer and manager for our farms so I know somewhat how to mix between what is theory and what is practical besides that I believe there are no new thoughts or ideas also when somebody say something I believe that there is another one says that or like that because we are all together colours mixers where our nature is our source and who said that Newton was able to discover without the green/red colour?! I need more than 300 years to be as Newton, but I will take my opportunity to explain what I learnt from the nature: In my country on summer’s end (in the latest years as a result for climate change) each year a dry dusty winds blows from the south mixes with the air to rain the mud.. The main challenge now and in the future is how we can reach the optimum condition where we turned back the air to its main characteristics... I mean to reduce the emissions of SO2, NOx, CO2 up to 100%; It is hard to be done but not impossible. What we have: Liquefied natural gas (LNG) can reduce the emissions of SO2 (100%), particulates (100%), NOx (90%) and have the potential of reducing CO2 with up to 25%. (Thanks for Port of Rotterdam Community...) Sea water scrubbing technology will remove more than 98% of sulphur along with majority of particulate matter from a 3.5% sulphur residual fuel. (Thanks for Hamworthy Krystallon..) Green ship technology will provide the necessary technologies and operational means to reduce emissions for newbuildings: - 30 % reduction of CO2 emissions - 90 % reduction of NOx emissions - 90 % reduction of SOx emissions
  • 22. (Thanks for Green ship of the future Group) Even though IMO said it may be enough, I believe that is very far from what is enough because we are Gentlemen; the Gentleman is who turns back the thing which he borrowed in its initial condition or better.. I don’t know exactly, maybe someday we can reach to the green funnel if marine industry takes into consideration the following:  Let’s use exhaust speed decreasing stages; we can use exhaust gas’s speed in electric generation, or maybe by using turbo & compressor in air ballast system, and use water injection stages then steam injection stages, condensers, heat exchangers… waters. separation stage. If we decrease the speed – as we use the main engine’s exhaust gases in turbocharger, maybe we can use it directly in generator rotation by using the constant pressure turbo stage – so we get enough time to deal with exhaust gases also we improve boiler’s heat exchange and scrubber efficiency then as British vessels used oil for fuel tanks’ heating before 1970 we can use sea water for heating sea water in ballast tanks.. (imagine circulating pump circulates ballast water from ballast tanks to cylindrical tank surrounding the funnel so we kill the species by heating and we treat the excessive heat), or we can use the excessive heat in cooling... ventilation..., to decrease exhaust temperature to the extent which make good conditions for mixing of steam and remaining exhaust then to enter the mixture in condensation stage (we use steam to clean funnel sometimes as you know..) Our climate was designed for us not for others, so it will be so worthy to care by it, unfortunately the emissions risk increases so fast day by day, you can ask people who used to clean scavenges space.. So regardless of your position play your part honestly to share in our environment protection. You will say it is a very high cost! I say: I will not make comparison between what I said and what will happen in the future.., but I will say that by this manner we impose the costs but we make some clearance to some cost recovery.. And I will ask: Is there somebody can tell me about 70% CO2 effects on our global climate?! Wednesday, 05 May 2010
  • 23. Some comments on I am looking for technical opinion on the issues involved in choosing ballast water treatment systems for different types of commercial vessels. I think that it is so difficult to mix between what is economical and what is safe in the Ballast-Free Bulk carrier concept, I will be clear.. I will consider here that the trunk construction is like pipe structure so no zero flow points, also the trunk is anti-fouling so no species suspended and no high costs for anti-fouling paints or for cleaning on dry-dock .. And I will ask who may be concern some questions and I look forward to get its answers; Can this ship sail safely when she is in ice/water areas? When she across Gibraltar because her excessive speed (as a result for decreasing the resistance of ship) she overtakes the grampus but unfortunately that grampus or a group of them enter the trunk… Can you say that the grampus will across safely (for the ship and for the grampus…)? Or when she sails across some area which is involved in Garbage or oil pollution spot can you avoid her from fines or can somebody make a good decision regarding the source of pollution or this ship will be out of the suspects… When this ship shelter near a small island for more than two days or more… Did you think that ship will be not a good home for species, fishes, fishing nets…etc I think for the above questions and for others, the Ballast-Free Bulk carrier concept designers think in some isolation valves… Well I will be more clear.. And I will consider for safety reasons, two isolation valves for each trunk in each side, this ship will not sail in distillation water, she will sail in sea water which contains… So she needs filter for each trunk at least especially because it is flow alongside so the possibility of matters will be more than if the opening for ballast suction was port side or starboard side, she discharged her cargoes, valves in open state and she depart while the weather is bad, some block in some trunk so trunk full and one half, what can the captain do? Well he will operate a ballast pump which has piping with side opining to fill the trunk quickly, and for safety reasons she needs other ballast pump; You say, other ships have just one; Well, maybe she subject to the effects of two free liquids surfaces.. So after valves, filters and two ballast pumps, we can say she will sail safely… But is that enough to protect our marine environment?! Well, I shall explain something here.
  • 24. Can some ship which discharged benzene in some port, load naphtha?! Dear readers some of you know and other don’t.. (Pb suspended pollutes the naphtha, and the washing with hot water can’t solve the problem..) Now we know a few kinds of species and know nothing about the others, how it suspends, transfer or affect… Again you will say costs, costs & costs… 1- Ballast water management annex to Marpol. 2- Ballast water management certificate is some new entries in IOPP supplement. 3- Marine industry shows some mercy. I know that you ask 1&2 are impossible.. I answer: If IMO separates for some reasons regarding low matters, that isn’t meaning that marine industry can’t mix… We use exhaust gases to decrease O2 to avoid the explosion so can we use it in species killing where all kinds of species needs O2 to stay alive… Or can we use the excessive heat for that purpose… Or, other methods... We can imagine and we can think then decide & design.. Just the practise and sea service can determine design success.. Old oil tankers designers thought, decided and designed the single hull, imagine that they expect collision and oil pollution and the high costs of prewashing and delays, I think that you agree with me and say: If they imagined that, they would design double hull.. I didn't talk about ballast tank, I talk about trunks like pipe's structure, I ask you friendly to do this: full a vessel by water and spread some small pieces of paper and make a spot then move small body (which has ship's design) quickly and watch the bow how works as separator via the waves.. I think also that you agree with me that we use seawater to low G centre, and to make good stability for ordinary ship and free ballast ship which has same dimensions we use same quantity of seawater, and the water can make free surface regardless of its vessel (cubic, ball, cylinder, pipe....) and also I will ask you friendly to do another thing.. Could you please choose a vessel with more than one year sea service after her dry dock, and check seawater filters where emergency fire pump and ballast pump suction. 05/11/2010
  • 25. Hoax theory on the global warming and the right solution for the oil spill in the Gulf part 1… Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me.. When I registered in linkedin on 03/14/2010 I read the following; Over 65 million professionals use LinkedIn to exchange information, ideas and opportunities. But I didn’t imagine that by this short time I will reach to 3266 commentators, Please, please and please give me the time to read your valuable comments you can get a vacation for short period forget the net and web news and make a tour around the world.., or go to the villages in your country, and search for the olds who didn’t know the computers, they have practise and knowledge more than you imagine.. You haven’t the time, or .. Don’t worry I will tell you what I know Before I am a naval architect & marine engineer I was farmer and manager for our farms in my village, I wait the rain and the sunshine.. And I heard people who lived more than ten decades.. This year throughout April no rain also we let the door open in the Christmas night.. When I ask the olds in my village they said it is the first time.. In 2008 I spent throughout February in Odessa where I wear my jacket once, or twice Also I asked the olds via my girl-friend they said it is the first time I visited Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Turkey, … Same same I get this answer: It is the first time; or Our climate changes rapidly Today Iceland’s volcanic?! Ok, cancel all the above Yes, the Global Warming is the hoax! My friend; You use the excessive heat in cooling.. in ventilation,. Finally, Before this day I blamed the industry professionals for our global warming.. Now I understand you, because up till now you don’t know if our global warming is/isn’t a hoax, And friendly I ask you to answer my discussion 05/13/2010
  • 26. If you believe that our Global Warming is a hoax, why you are member in Green?! Special thanks for you (all commentators here) and for everybody who comments on that valuable discussion, Actually after I read some of those comments I don't know why I remembered the big bang.. There are two teams: A: who says that our global warming isn’t a hoax.. B: who says that our global warming is a hoax.. Someday the truth shall appear, tomorrow.., after one year.., 10,20… I don’t know exactly.. I will suppose that will happen after 10 years, as the following (I take into the consideration that nobody forces you to be A or to be B and also you invite what you believe): 1- A: wrong and B: right A(%) works on excessive heat treating and doesn’t care by other reason for our climate change B(%) doesn’t care or search for other reasons for our climate change 2- A: right and B: wrong A(%) works on the excessive heat treating and doesn’t care by other reason for our climate change B(%) doesn’t care or search for other reasons for our climate change In the first case we lose the efforts of A&B or at least A in finding the right reason In the second we lose the efforts of B So let’s find AB team as the following: A works on the excessive heat treating and in the meantime search for other reasons B Search for other reasons and in the meantime works on the excessive heat treating By this team I think that our global climate shall be fine Again many thanks for you PM and AM, Sun and moon, Man and Woman...are very very different, but each one need other to create the meaning of our life.. I don't know if Newton was like the apple or not and I don't care for that, I am interested in Newton's Law, also I think everything in this life has two faces and for each question there is an answer Y,N.. Let's discuss till when we know and lose time and efforts and .. When I stop my comments please don't consider that I can’t answer or reply,
  • 27. but consider that I have other thing I do.. Thank you very much Best regards Dear all A&B I read before I request to join to Green group the following: Green is for those who want to share ideas on environment, climate change, renewable energy, clean tech, sustainability, CSR and Green issues Also I get this invitation from Green Manager and I am very delighted and honoured to have such one. (Tarek, Come to the first Green group event Communicating Sustainability 2010 on the 7th of June in Central London to meet, listen and learn from some of the greatest minds in advertising, communications, brand marketing and business strategy..) Actually I posted this discussion to find something new and more useful… I don’t know why it moved to jobs discussion; I post this question to prepare for different kind of discussion between A & B.. For my opinion regarding our global warming I say: The scientists didn’t surprise me with the big bang.. I said that to invite every open mind person in the team A to stop struggle and make something different, I mean working on the excessive heat and search for other reasons for our climate change, and to invite every open mind person in the team B to stop struggle and make something different, I mean search for other reasons for our climate change, and working on the excessive heat, And in the meantime I ask kindly every person in the both teams to stop posting here, and to join my next discussion to learn me (especially because I can’t be in London for some reasons to learn about Green) about haw can we be more gentles?! Dear brother/sister in Green, how can we be more gentles?! In my opinion, the gentle person is who turns back what he has borrowed as it was or better… So he conserves and protects… We use air and fuel in combustion chamber to get energy and produce CO2… At least we can’t inhale CO2… So how can we turn the air and the fuel to them initial condition or to use them in something useful… Dear reader I am so interested in your opinion but please take into consideration that you abort this discussion when: Of course, if you leave me out, you delete it or move it to Job discussion; or
  • 28. You fight or struggle instead of discuss; or You post links more than your thoughts because I find your opinion more valuable than the links; Please let’s share our thoughts and work together to conserve and protect simultaneously… Thank you very much Special thanks for www.linkedin.com Saturday, 08 May 2010 Tarek When we extinguish a fire in some forest we make barriers or some arid areas to separate what is burning from what we can conserve, but is that enough?! We must treat the fire source directly.. I don’t mean to stop CO2 emissions directly, because simply it is so hard to be done.. I think that it will be a good idea if we work on three levels: 1- Increase our green forests; 2- Decrease our energy consumption; and 3- Treat the CO2 emissions. And in my opinion I consider that it is very important to begin in CO2 emissions treat, because I have some thoughts regarding, and I will explain it below, and please take into consideration that my thoughts are based on my knowledge and information regarding how I realize the nature… But I ask you friendly to let me complete… I will consider here the following: The heat transfers from the sun to the earth so hot air currents transfer from the hot place to the cold place. Our plant consists of 70% water and 30%land. All kind of trees inhale O2 and release CO2 during the nights, and vice versa, Trees work as pump with a defined suction pressure.. The temperature of CO2 gas is higher than O2, Ozone layer expands in high temperatures and shrinks in low temperature, When CO2 accumulates in large amount it form a layer which decrease heat transfer through, and it reflects the heat Ozone layer receives in a define position the heat from the sun during the daylight and from the earth during the night and this layer expands under heat effect. And also I will consider the following: 1- The rays can reflect on some surface just when it makes an angle with that surface, 2- Our earth has three rotation movement, around itself, around the sun,
  • 29. around the centre of universe so it’s axis has different positions but when some point be closer to the sun there is another point far from the sun. And I ask you friendly to do two things: 1- Put a mirror against the light ray then put it where forms 0 angle with that ray; and 2- Light a candle and watch it smoke then fix a blank paper on a horizontal distance from the smoke and spray some water vertically against the paper and watch the paper. Dear reader I do this way to state my thoughts to be sure that large number from the interested read it to correct it kindly and to learn me because I consider myself student here, and in the meantime to get enough time to manage my thoughts. Nature before human and his activities: Large green areas on land take O2 in night and pump CO2 in addition to CO2 from animals so at night air currents blow from lands to the upper layers in the atmosphere above the water. Large green areas on land take CO2 in daylight and pump O2 so at daylight the air currents blow from waters to the upper layers in the atmosphere above the land. Heavy rainfall mixes with CO2 So the earth is in balance regarding CO2 Ozone layer: It is exposed to the direct sunshine heat and to the reflected sunshine heat which spends defined time (T) to reach it in the daylight so it expands in (A) amount and at night it shrinks in (B) amount, so we can say also that Ozone layer is in balance. Earth axis changes where some area becomes more close to the sun so it is exposed to some increase (C) amount in the heat at daylight and loose at night (D) amount and in the meantime because the earth is like ball so if we move away from that area we move away from the sun so that area has high temperature comparing with the others so hot air currents in the lower layer blow from that area to the other so it lose (C-D) amount, so also we can say that area in balance… I love the nature because she is Queen, clever manager, clean and self- independent…
  • 30. Dear reader, I ask you friendly to do two things: 1- Light a candle and put above its fire on a reasonable distance two balloons (same material) one ball and the second tube then watch which explode at first. 2- Light a lamp on a vessel contains water and put black paper between the both and watch. Tomorrow I will talk about how we are very stupid and selfish simultaneously.. Dear reader: Before I continue my thoughts I would like to say something here: I wouldn’t like to play devil’s advocate with anyone who says “Nature can’t teach or farmers and folks know nothing”, because we don’t need to defend farmers, folks and nature especially when you remember the following: Human used stones from ground, use papers from trees and use carbon in the computers to store and do his activities so the nature knows about us more than what we know about her.. You can know your sons’ eyes colour before they are born because “Sir Darwin” was farmer.. Charles Dickens is Charles Dickens because he wrote his pain.. I thanks the GOD because I have the pain, I was farmer and I love the nature.. Nature, human and his activities: Less green areas on land take %O2 in night and pump %CO2 in addition to CO2 from animals, CO2 human and his activities so at night air currents blow from lands to the upper layers in the atmosphere above the water. Less green areas on land take %CO2 in daylight and pump %O2 in addition to CO2 from animals, CO2 human and his activities so at night air currents blow from waters to the upper layers in the atmosphere above the land. Rainfalls mix with %CO2. Well, you can find out easily that there is strange body in the atmosphere it is large amount of CO2 CO2 emissions effects on our resources: When CO2 accumulates in upper layers above the waters it forms CO2 layer which minimizes sunshine access to the waters so less evaporation and less and less and less rain.
  • 31. CO2 emissions effects on Ozone layer: When CO2 accumulate in upper layers near the ozone layer it forms CO2 layer which reflects (S1) sunshine to the Ozone layer after defined time (%T) and stores the heat in (S2) amount to lose it quickly at night to reach Ozone layer after defined time (%T) and the remaining (S3) reach Ozone layer after (T) time at daylight, so Ozone layer expands in (A+ %A) amount at daylight and at night it shrinks in (%B) amount, so Ozone layer expands and expands and expands. CO2 emissions effects on some area which is more close to the sun as a result for earth axis change: Now I want to talk about north and south, as you know the north is rich by lands and man activities so high CO2 ratio on north, and the South is poor by lands and man activities so low CO2 ratio, the nature is so gentle and she wants to do her ability so CO2 moves from north to south where there is no rain so CO2 increases and increases and increases, and when earth axis changes where some area in the south becomes more close to the sun but it has rich CO2 layer so it is exposed to some increase (%C) amount in the heat at daylight and loose at night (%D) but now the other areas have higher temperature so the hot air currents in the lower layers blows toward that area so we can see easily that area under warming in (C-D) amount. If you realize the nature you can easily find out that the nature works on closed cycle system, and because we are so selfish and stupid we still work on open cycle system… Dear reader thanks for your patience… By the way I am not from A or B team because I am student in EPACT (Earth Protection And Conservation Team) which works on three levels with closed cycle system: 1- Treat the CO2 emissions, 2- Decrease our energy consumption, 3- Increase our green forests. So, dear Sister/Brother do you agree with me? Dear reader; For each study there is summary but because I am student here so I forgot it, excuse me (I hate to repeat…) Please if you read something annoy you please be informed that I wrote that thing to another person who know, My Dear teacher; Please take into consideration the following: I spent 2 days thinking in this issue; My thoughts are based on the tasks which I ask you to do it friendly; Maybe there are some minor mistakes regarding the language;
  • 32. Summary AS STATED ABOVE IN MY COMMENTS: I DON’T MEAN TO STOP CO2 EMISSIONS DIRECTLY, BECAUSE SIMPLY IT IS SO HARD TO BE DONE…(COMMENT No2 ) CO2 IS FROM OUR BODIES WE CANT INSTALL AN EQUIPMENT TO TREAT THAT CO2 … I THINK THAT CO2 FROM ANIMALS BEFORE HUMANS EQUALS CO2 FROM ANIMAL AND HUMANS… OH, I FORGET AGAIN I SHALL EXPLAIN TO THE LAST WORD.. THE DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF ANIMALS KINDS AND ITS FIGURES EQUALS POPULATION INCREASE. DEAR ENGINEER, THE NATURE WAS IN BALANCE BEFORE HUMANS AND THE NUTURE CAN BE IN BALANCE IF HUMANS RECPECT NATURE’S LOWS… OH, AGAIN.. MY THOUGHTS ARE BASED ON CO2 ISSUE, BUT YOU CAN PUT INSTEAD OF THAT GAS ANOTHER ONE AND GO ON YOUR MISSION AND IMPLEMENT CLOSED CYCLE SYSTEM WHEN YOU IMAGINE, THINK, DECIDE AND DESIGN. If you can’t, please try to find something useful
  • 33. 05-13-2010 when I tried to do something good… There is no way to stop oil spill except they begin from the end From: Tarek Jabour Date: May 13, 2010 To: (who I respect and consider him as one of my teachers) Status: Sent They must begin from the sea water surface by using pipe till where they decide to put the plug as the following: The pressure on that plug must be calculated, I will suppose it (A) They must design the same pipe (material and thickness) which was used On each connection they must put a weight equals A/N; N: number of the connection Of course the diameter of the pipe must be less than the previous one I don't believe that plug will stop oil spill because they will need to use another one.. Anyway I hope that they success by plug putting Now they must fix the box leakage with a base for a new pipe 2 reach to the final position From: Tarek Jabour Date: May 17, 2010 To: (who I respect and consider him as one of my teachers) Status: Sent Box leakage must be fixed between the damaged pipe and the new pipe 1 After new pipe 2 fixing the weights must be removed at first then the new pipe 1 must be blocked with emergency plug (the new pipe 1 must be in this situation till a new pipe from well till the final position) Very important remark: They must prepare a large number of the high heavy viscosity pumps…
