   is enjoined and refraining from that which has been

   “Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
     Allah: the Eternal, the Absolute;
  He begets not, neither is He begotten;
     And there is none like unto Him”

                Quran 112:1-4

There can be only ONE!
But why?

Belief in Allah:
Knowing Him
   So, how do we know Him?


   Through His Signs.


    “Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the
     earth, and the alternation of the night and day -
    there are indeed Signs for men of understanding”
                         Quran 3:190

    Knowing Him
   Through His Attributes.


     “And Allah has the most (beautiful) excellent Names
           (attributes), so call on Him by them” …
                              Quran, 7:180

Belief in Allah:
Shirk
 Muslims  believes in the ONE-ness of God
 Shirk: to ascribe partners to Allah – the
  gravest sin in Islam.

  “Allah forgives not that partners should be set up
  with Him; but He forgives anything else, to whom
    He pleases; To set up partners with Allah is to
        devise a sin most heinous indeed” …
                     Quran, 4:48

There are 2 kinds of living
creatures:
 Those that can be
  seen.
 Those that cannot be
  seen.



Muslims believe that just     Belief in the

 There  are creations which were given
  free-will, whilst others do not.

 Itmeans that the creature has a mind
  which it can use to decide right and
  wrong.

 Other   creatures just lead their lives
  according to their instincts, like fish and
  birds do.

   Angels to Muslims:

       Invisible
       No free-will

Belief in the Angels of Allah:
Their Characteristics
   do not question God (no free will)

   do everything God orders them to do

   do not adjust or amend what God orders

   do not need to eat, drink or have sex

   they have     “supernatural”   powers     by   man’s
    standards

   can take on the form of other creatures

Jibreel          Conveyer of Divine messages to all Prophets of Allah

Mika’il          The guardian spirit of land, sea and air. The angel of
                 providence
Raqib ‘Atid      Records all good and evil actions of man



Ridhwan          In-charge of guarding Heaven

Malik            In-charge of guarding Hell

Israfil          Who will sound the note (sur in Arabic) which will
                 signal the end of the world and the Day of Judgment
Izra’il          Angel of death, in charge of taking people’s souls
                 when they die
Munkar & Nakir   They are angels which will question the soul of the
                 dead person as they are awaiting resurrection
