implementation of agreements with international
development partners

and as such reaches the optimal benefits and results
from her bi- and multilateral cooperations

• Advices on and coordinates policy
concerning, bilateral and multilateral cooperation;
• Coordinates the formulation process and
assessment of strategies with international
development partners (Country Strategy Paper);
• Monitors and evaluates the implementation of
development cooperation initiatives;

• Compiles knowledge of criteria, policy and
procedures of the different development
partners and mainstreams this information
into all relevant institutions in Suriname;
• Takes notice of periodical reporting
procedures to and from development
partners (keeping track of development
issues for monitoring and evaluation
purposes);

• Guides institutions with the preparation of projects
and programs with different developing partners
and sees to it that they have all relevant information
for meeting deadlines and goals;
• Links between the Cabinet of the
President, Embassies, Honorary consuls, consulates
and different line ministeries and special
commisions to keep an overview of the total scope of
development initiatives and -funding within a sector
in order to have the optimal benefits and make
effective use of all funding opportunities.

• Compiles knowledge on criteria and adjustments
in international trade policies and agreements, and
assesses the impacts of changes in trade
agreements;
• Advices on and coordinates consultations on
international trade policy agreements and
mainstreams new developments into national
policy, aiming at improving Suriname’s role in
international trade;

• Communicates and relates with all relevant trade
related institutions;
• Improves trade investment- en financial flows in
close cooperation with the overseas working
departements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(overseas diplomatic missions, -consulates and
honorary consuls of Suriname);
• Compiles information on imbalances in trade
relations between Suriname and other
countries, and advices on strategies to counteract.
