                                 My Project
Objective:
      To work in a group of 2 to 4 students to design and produce a stop-motion
      animation project using all the materials and tools available to you in the
      classroom and lab. The project can be clay animation or solid animation; this will
      be a group decision.

Requirements:
      Length of stop-motion animation movie: (points added to rubric total)
             20+ seconds          = 25 pts
             15+ seconds          = 20 pts
             10+ seconds          = 15 pts
             5+ seconds           = 10 pts


A minimum of TWO characters/puppets/items must be animated.
      o You can use old toys, stuffed animals, objects lying around the house, etc.

A creative opening title must be used.
       o You can create a title in Photoshop and then import it.
       o You can add video into the title.
       o You can animate your title to move.
       o You can build a title with stop motion (paper, magnetic letters, etc)

Sound Effects
      o Sound Effects can be created by the students or loaded from a website.
      o Sound Effect CDs available in class.

Light background noise/music
       o Music should not overpower the sound effects or narration
       o Music should be appropriate in tempo/theme to the video

Voice over OR narration
       o You can narrate the action as it is happening, or you can introduce the
          situation from a third person point of view
       o You can create a voice over for your characters as if they were speaking

Steps for Success:

   1. Brainstorm with team members for ideas, write down anything that comes to
       mind, go through a process of elimination until you are down to your final 2
       ideas.
   2. Wrtite some details about the final 2 ideas. Research past projects that relate to
       your ideas. This will help you see what is envoled in finishing the project.
   3. Decide one idea and start creating your storyboard.
   4. Ask Mr. Sparks to approve the storyboard.
   5. Start comstruction on the background, props, and charactoers.
   6. Arrange your set in a secure location and prepare to shoot pictures.
   7. Set the tripod and camera up, mark the location and height of the tripod.
   8. Start aking pictures, refer back to your storyboard frequently to make sure you are
       staying organized.
   9. Download all your pictures at the end of the period everyday.
           a. Create a folder in your folder on the server, name it “Technology”.
           b. Download all pictures and files to this folder to keep them organized.
   10. Resarch sound effects to go along with your project, make sure they relate to your
       idea. Save them to your folder as a wav. file
   11. Open audacity and recorder your naration for the project. Add sound effects. Use
       audacity to distort one section of the narration (make sure we can understand it
       though).
   12. Export audacity file to your folder as a wav. file
   13. Open Windows Movie Maker, follow instruction on the video in Mr. Sparks’
       YouTube channel to import pictures and sound.
   14. Create movie
   15. Email your movie to Mr. Sparks

DHMS Stop-Motion Animation Communication Technology My Project Objective: To work in a group of 2 to 4 students to design and produce a stop-motion animation project using all the materials and tools available to you in the classroom and lab. The project can be clay animation or solid animation; this will be a group decision. Requirements: Length of stop-motion animation movie: (points added to rubric total) 20+ seconds = 25 pts 15+ seconds = 20 pts 10+ seconds = 15 pts 5+ seconds = 10 pts A minimum of TWO characters/puppets/items must be animated. o You can use old toys, stuffed animals, objects lying around the house, etc. A creative opening title must be used. o You can create a title in Photoshop and then import it. o You can add video into the title. o You can animate your title to move. o You can build a title with stop motion (paper, magnetic letters, etc) Sound Effects o Sound Effects can be created by the students or loaded from a website. o Sound Effect CDs available in class. Light background noise/music o Music should not overpower the sound effects or narration o Music should be appropriate in tempo/theme to the video Voice over OR narration o You can narrate the action as it is happening, or you can introduce the situation from a third person point of view o You can create a voice over for your characters as if they were speaking 3
  • 4. DHMS Stop-Motion Animation Communication Technology Steps for Success: 1. Brainstorm with team members for ideas, write down anything that comes to mind, go through a process of elimination until you are down to your final 2 ideas. 2. Wrtite some details about the final 2 ideas. Research past projects that relate to your ideas. This will help you see what is envoled in finishing the project. 3. Decide one idea and start creating your storyboard. 4. Ask Mr. Sparks to approve the storyboard. 5. Start comstruction on the background, props, and charactoers. 6. Arrange your set in a secure location and prepare to shoot pictures. 7. Set the tripod and camera up, mark the location and height of the tripod. 8. Start aking pictures, refer back to your storyboard frequently to make sure you are staying organized. 9. Download all your pictures at the end of the period everyday. a. Create a folder in your folder on the server, name it “Technology”. b. Download all pictures and files to this folder to keep them organized. 10. Resarch sound effects to go along with your project, make sure they relate to your idea. Save them to your folder as a wav. file 11. Open audacity and recorder your naration for the project. Add sound effects. Use audacity to distort one section of the narration (make sure we can understand it though). 12. Export audacity file to your folder as a wav. file 13. Open Windows Movie Maker, follow instruction on the video in Mr. Sparks’ YouTube channel to import pictures and sound. 14. Create movie 15.
