These are the days where people are looking to do things better. If
something was once good enough, it is no longer. This means that
people and companies have to tray harder to do things in a way that is
acceptable. This goes for team building as well. Team building is an
important part of running a business or corporation that can meet
deadlines fast, and hold on to well trained employees. Team building
activities are great ways to keep staff and management teams working
together and improve communication skills.
Team building activities that actually work are based on learning and
cooperation. They must also be fun and interactive to insure that
people stay interested in what is going on. Below are some great ways
to have fun, and work on team building skills.
Team building activities…. That work.
High, Lo, Yo! : This game is fun, interactive, and has lots of laughs. It can
be a great energizer between activities or useful if you are waiting for
another group. Participants stand in a circle and use hand motions,
while verbally continuing the sequence “Hi, Lo, Yo, Hi, Lo, Yo” and so
on.
Interview: You can use this activity to acquaint members of a newly
formed group or help an intact group learn more about one another. All
participants interview their partners using their own questions or ones
that the facilitator assigns. After the interview process, each person is
introduced to the group by his/her partner. By learning more about one

another, the group becomes familiar with each other, thus establishing
trust.
Bingo: This activity is great for getting people to mingle with one
another. Each member of the group should receive a “bingo card.” In
each square of the grid is a simple question or statement. The card
holder must mingle around with group members and find a person for
whom the statement is true or a person who is able to answer the
question. The goal is to complete the entire card.
Ball Toss: This activity emphasizes the importance of communication
and an individual’s contribution to a group goal. It involves tossing a
ball (or other soft throw able object) from one participant to another
across a circle, forming a pattern. Without the group’s knowledge, the
facilitator will then add more objects to the pattern so that the group
attempts to juggle the objects between them. A further goal may be to
have the group juggle all of the objects at once.
Most team building activities “work” as they are only about reacting to
others in a positive way, and helping the team reach a set goal. In order
to make this happen, you only need a team that is willing to work
together. Team building is a great way for co-workers to enjoy each
other and for team mates to better understand one another. Team
building is a crucial part of any business or team, in order to succeed at
anything you need to work good as a team, and independently in equal
parts.
