3. The Foundation of the Chair of Social
Work and Social Technologies
Social work education system in Armenia was established in 1996 at YSU Faculty of
Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology.
The Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies was founded in 2004.
4. Social Work education at YSU is performed in such forms:
Bachelor Program of Social Work at YSU/4 years /
M.A. Program in Social Work /2 years /
Distance Education of Social Work /5 years /
Extra-mural Courses in Social Work /1 year/
5. Social Work MA Courses
The education program of the Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies
is aimed to help Master students to orientate which type of professional
activity they are interested in.
MA students of the Social Work Department are provided 3 types of courses:
• General Courses (English language, Philosophy of social work, IT in professional
researches)
• Required Courses (Modern methods of social research, Strategic planning / PR
technologies in social work, Social work with family)
• Elective Courses (Clinical psychology, Society and Crime, Public Health)
6. Currently 22 organizations in cooperation with the Chair of Social Work and
Social Technologies organize students’ fieldwork from 3rd semester.Students’
fieldwork ends in the 7th semester.
7. Collaborations
The Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies collaborates with
the Social Work School of Connecticut.
The Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies has a partnership
with the Munster Catholic University of Social Sciences.
