2. What is a Symposium?
A chance for our Honors students to
show what they are interested in.
A chance for you to show your hard work.
A chance for you to develop your research
skills.
A chance for you to explore the things that
interest you and see how it affects the
world around you.
3. THEME SSAGE
Our symposium focuses on the
ESSENTIAL QUESTION :
What is the message (theme) resulting
from this project and how might this
message contribute to society?
4. What do I need to do?
You will choose what interests you and make
sure that the subject crosses into other subjects
you know.
You will meet with at least two mentor teachers
that will guide you through the process. You will
meet with your mentors at least three times.
You will develop your ideas in a way that is
unique to YOU!
You will present your work on the day of the
symposium. Your presentation should be 5-10
minutes long.
6. What do I need to do first ?
First you need to fill out an intent to participate form.
Choose your partners (they can be across grade levels
BUT you must get permission from your mentor teacher
to do so), or choose to work by yourself. Choose your
mentor teachers.
Next, choose your topic. Think about the BIG IDEA you
want to show about your topic.
Then, think about what other subjects your topic can
connect with.
Finally, have your first meeting with your mentor. They will
help steer you in the right direction as you discuss your
ideas with them.
