Your Daily Motivation – Making
Room For Some Space To
Think
With the day to day going ons of life, we are constantly thinking
about what needs to be done, who did what and what they
didn’t do. It is no wonder why sometimes we flat out need
some space to think. Thinking is such an under-rated skill
nowawdays. But if you really think about it, is there a lot of
space to think?
World renowned motivator and speaker Brian Tracy says that
one of the things that we fail to do is to just take time to
think. He stresses the importance of just taking time to think.
Whether it is while sitting at home looking out the window or
just taking a walk. It is in those moments of thinking where
some of the best ideas happen.
So the question becomes how to do
you create some space to THINK.
I ran across an exercise that I have been using and I have to
day it truly creates some space to think.
It’s called a brain dump. One of the main reasons why we lack
some space to think is simply because our mind is crowded
with a whole bunch of other things and we have no way of
effectively processing it. So I have to say when I came across
this exercise I was more than happy to try it even it was to give
my mind a breather for a change.
 Here’s the Brain Dump
You want to grab at least three sheets of paper.
The 1st
sheet of paper you are going to label it
“Things I Need To Do.”
The next sheet of paper you are going to label
“Things that I Want , Need or desire.
The third sheet of paper label it
“Things that I am Worried About or
Concerned about.
(Can you see how this exercise is going to create you some
space to think?)
On the 1st
Page Titled “Things I need to do” all you want to
do is just simply do that. Don’t try to figure out how you are
going to do it and when you are going to do it. The main goal is
to get it out of your head onto a sheet (or sheets) of paper. You
just want to dump all of the things that you know you need to
do and even the things you think you need to do. You want to
write and write until you cannot write any more. AND THEN
WRITE AGAIN!!! It is important to exhaust your thoughts on
things you need to do especially if you want to create some
space to think.
The next page entitled “Things I Want, Need or Desire.” Here
you get to have a lot of fun with this one. All of those thoughts
that you have about those things that you want to do, places
you want to go, people you want to see, the piece of paper is
your fantasy land to write it all out. So here you want to go for
it. Go all out!
The last page entitled “Things that I am Worried or Concerned
About.” Here is a place where you can really create some space
to think. A lot of times we are so focused on our worries and
concerns that we can almost be consumed by it. Here every
worry every concern, you want to put it on this paper. Again
here is another space where you should not hold back. Go the
Full Monty with it.
Alright!  There you have it.
A great exercise to create some space to
think.
I try to get this exercise in at least once a month. Try it out and
see how well it works for you. I invite you to create some space
to think today using this technique.
