Philosopher, Scientist, Mathematician, Academic (1596–1650)
Born on March 31 1596 in La Haye En Touraine inside the
kingdom of France.
Descartes was the first to provide a framework in philosophy for
the nature sciences and mathematics as they developed.
Descartes died on February 11 1650 age 53 in Stockholm,
Sweden while he was invited as a philosophy teacher for the
Queen Christina of Sweden.

3. Why is Descartes known as the Father of Modern Philosophy?
He was the first major figure in the philosophical
movement known as rationalism, a method of
understanding the world based on the use of
reason as the means to attain knowledge.

we can be certain that a thinking mind
exists.”

Descartes wanted to seek knowledge of what can
not be doubted. Which ultimately leads to the
premise Cogito Ergo Sum (I think therefore I am).
