Welcome back everyone! After waiting for months for the EA to fix the exchange I have decided to join the majority and upload my next chapter using SlideShare. A special thanks to PetTech for her tutorial. Last chapter, Brodey and Vince traveled to Izaro Island where they were shocked to find a very forgetful Brad. After being unable to convince him to come home with them, the duo found themselves caught up in a volcanic eruption. It seemed that Jumbok was not happy with the way things were progressing on the island and quickly shot down the reigning chief with a lightening bolt. Thankfully, moments before the island erupted in flames, the magic of Mr. Mickles transported both Vince and Brodey out of harms reach and back to Riverblossom Hills. However, no one knows what happened to the remaining residents of the island.
Six months had passed since Brodey and Vince had returned home from their rescue mission to find Brad. It was with sad hearts that they had explained to Pamela and Tyson what they had seen and that the likelihood of Brad still being alive, especially considering the magnitude of the eruption that followed their escape from Izaro Island, was slim to none. As the family grieved their loss, life continued to move forward for the rest of the residents of Riverblossom Hills, including the infamous simselves. And on this particular day, a long awaited and much anticipated ceremony was just about to begin.
"Miss Angela Simself, I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that this day is finally here. Since the first moment I arrived in Riverblossom Hills, I knew that you were the one for me. Granted, life here in the Hills is much different than it is back in my hometown of Regalton, but I believe that I have managed to fit in nicely and I look forward to making a new home and life with you.“ ------------------- Charles Legacy is a spare from Dicreasy's Victorian Legacy. My simself and Charles are married in Di's legacy.
But while the ceremony had already begun, not everyone was running on time... "Gin! Can you walk any faster? The ceremony has already started! I can't believe I am late for my own sims' wedding.“ "It's ok Di. They haven't got to the mushy part yet, so technically we haven't really missed anything.“ "That's not the point! I hate being late.“ ------------------ Di (Dicreasy) writes the Victorian Legacy. Gin (GintasticNecat) writes the Science of a Legacy (SOAL).
"Hey Di, don't feel so bad. Look! We're not the only one's who lost track of time. Isn't that Marina just taking a seat over there?“ "Great! She took the good spot! Now we're going to have to sit at the back! All because you couldn't decide which shoes to wear with that dress!“ ------------------ Marina (smoothiequeen) writes the Villainous Apocalypse.
"Um Alex... could you please sit down. I can't see a thing. You're standing in my way!“ "Lea, I'm sorry. But weddings are just so hard to watch now. Ever since... sniff... this was supposed to be Brad and I getting married. And now... sniff... he's never coming back!" (runs off) "Do you think we should go after her, Lea?“ "Nah. I wouldn't worry about it too much Meg. She'll be ok. Besides, I think we're just about to get to the good part.“ ----------------- From top to bottom: Marla (marla2007wapi) writes the Harry Potter Legacy, Lea (tlhs0) writes The Barsoom Legacy, Alex (simOSW2) writes the new Tales of Disney 'Alphabet' Legacy, Meg (megmeg) has written the Stephenson Apocalypse and now spends her days as a full-time university student.
"I Charles Legacy take you, Angela Simself, to be my wife. I promise to be true to you and stay by your side through all of legacy writing's up's and down's. I also promise to give you backrubs when writers block sets in and make you cups of tea to enjoy whist reading your favorite stories.“ "Awwww...."
"Awww? Cups of tea and writers block? What kind of nuptials are those supposed to be?“ "Never mind Vince, it's a simself sort of thing.“ "Hmmm. Well, that figures. All you simselves are a little crazy aren't you?“ "Crazy? Well, now that's not a very nice thing to say. Anybody bring their batbox?“ -------------------- The blonde lady is none other than Doc (DocSupremeNerd) who writes the Vetinari Legacy.
"Charles Ernest Legacy, I take you to be my sim husband. May we spend many afternoon's coming up with new plot ideas while lounging around the pool and soaking up the afternoon sun. I promise to treat you with the utmost care and ensure you have all the most current of Victorian pleasures.“ "Does that mean we can have 10 kids?“ "Not on your life mister.“ “ Well it was worth a try."
"So is it all settled then?“ "I think so.“ "Good. Can I kiss the bride now?“ "Absolutely!"
"Sniff... isn't that sweet? I just love a good wedding. It's all so very romantic.“ "I prefer the term Shrewtastic, but romance is good too. Hey, Lorin, do you think these shoes go with this dress?“ ------------------ In the front: Lorin (lorinsv60) writes Romancing the Apocalypse.
Aside from the usual simself antics you come to expect at a wedding, everyone had a great time. That is except for one person who left the party early.
"That was a lovely ceremony, Angela. Congratulations!“ "Thanks, Lea. But you wouldn't happen to know where Alex ran off to. I saw her leave part way through the ceremony.“ "We thought about going after her, but I really didn't want to miss your wedding. I hope everything is alright.“ "I do too, Meg. Poor girl. Brad's disappearance has really shaken her up. Hopefully university will help get her mind off things.“ "You mean she's decided to take Jamie up on his offer? Even after the way he behaved?“ "Actually, no Lea. I decided that since it's my fault that Brad is gone, it seems only right that I pay the tuition for her. I just hope she will be able to make a fresh start."
But Alex wasn't the only person in Riverblossom Hills preparing to make a fresh start... "Sigh...“ "What's up Pam? Don't you feel like fishing this afternoon? Usually you really enjoy spending time out by the pond. Anything wrong?“ "No. Not really Tyson. I'm just thinking is all.“ "Yah? 'Bout what?"
"Well, I can't help it but wonder if we really did everything we could to find Brad.“ "Oh Pamela. You're not still beating yourself up about this, are you? I thought we had moved past this point.“ "Sigh... I did too Tyson. It's just standing here, looking at my parents gravestones, I can't help but wonder if I really have been a good mom. Maybe there was something more I could have done to stop him from leaving. Maybe I should have..."
"Whoa! Just hold it right there. First of all, you were and still are a fantastic mom. I knew that from the first moment I saw you with our Abby.“ "But that was so long ago. And don't you remember? I didn't really have anything figured out. The only reason we got married in the first place was to please my mama. And as far as being a good parent goes... well... Abby and I haven't always been close. I wish we were, but we aren't and now I don't know how to change that.“ "I think change is something that is much easier to do than most people think. Look at us for example. Who would have ever thought that you and I would be able to live under one roof together without killing each other. It's nothing short of a miracle."
"Well, I suppose that's true. So do you really think Abby and I will be able to mend our differences? It sure would be nice to have a close relationship with my daughter.“ "I don't just think so, I know so. Besides, I will be here to help you both along the way. That is if you'll have me.“ "What are you saying Tyson?"
"What I am saying is that I want you to be my wife again, Pamela. I want to be the husband I should have been all those years ago. I love you and have always loved you. I can only hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive me for the mistakes I have made and take me back.“ "But what about..."
"There are no 'buts' Pamela. I say this to you with my entire heart. This is not because your parents said we should, or because it will make things easier. I am asking you to be my wife because I believe in us. I feel us in my heart. There is no other person in this world that I want to have by my side. We belong together."
"Oh Tyson! It's my old ring! But, I had pawned it off. How did you ever...“ "I have connections, my dear. So does that mean you'll say yes, or do I have to try and balance on this old hip a little longer?"
"Oh, I'm sorry Tyson. YES! Of course yes! I would be honored to be your wife once again. And this time, no more secrets. I promise.“ "Good, because I don't know if this heart could take losing you again."
"I love you Tyson Simpleton.“ "I love you too Pamela Simpleton. What do you say we go inside and celebrate, the right way."
While Pamela and Tyson renewed their love for one and other, over at Academie le Tour there was another reason for celebration... Abby Simpleton had just finished taking her last final exam of the semester and had become an official university graduate. But while most sims in her class were spending their last moments on campus attending graduation parties and ‘pranking’ their now former professors, Abby just didn't feel like joining in the fun. She had more important things on her mind.
"Shouldn't you be out having fun somewhere, instead of sitting in the garden by yourself. This is a big day for you Abby. Go have some fun. You deserve it.“ "Maybe later."
"Well, I hate to tell you this, but graduation only comes once in a lifetime. Therefore, later really isn't an option. Come on Abby, what's wrong? You rarely turn down a good party."
"I guess I just haven't been in the mood.“ "A popularity sim who's not in the mood to attend one of the best parties of the year... do tell.“ "Well, I'm scared.“ "Scared? Of what? You'll have too much to drink and end up showing off your dance moves? Hahaha... that's always good for a laugh.“ "No, no, nothing like that. It's more serious. As you know I haven't been with anyone since the rape. I've been just thinking that what if I don't ever... you know... want to be with someone? Everybody's going to wonder what's wrong with me and I don't really know what to tell them. There's just so much pressure on me now that Brad is gone. And I just..."
"It's ok, Abby. Just take a deep breath. Everything is going to be fine.“ "I'm glad you're sure. I am just so worried about going home and being around all my old friends and family. What if someone finds out what happened to me? I will be a disgrace to my family and everyone will think...“ "Whoa! Don't you dare talk like that! I can't believe that you still think what Professor Schnell did to you is your fault. You being raped had nothing to do with what you did! This was him! All him! He should have gone to jail for what he did to you, but he didn't and now it's time for you to move forward. It's time for you to stop playing the victim and start becoming the survivor."
"But how do I do that? How do I forget about what he did to me? How do I get to the point that I won't tremble every time a man reaches out to touch my hand? How do I look in the mirror every morning and not see the scars he left behind? How do I do all these things? How?"
"Unfortunately Abby I don't have any of those answers for you. What I do know is that you have been chosen to lead your family. You come from a very special family that has a legacy to carry on. I would hate to think that you would let Professor Schnell stop that legacy from continuing."
“ You know what! You're right Marie. This isn't just about me. I know that I have to do what's right, no matter how hard it is. I just hope that I am strong enough to succeed. I just hope I have it in me to dig deep and find that strength.“ "Of course you do. Remember the Abby I first met? The one who knew who she was and what she wanted. The one who found the determination to beat out the fastest member of the swim team just to get out of a date. I know she's in there somewhere. All you have to do is find her."
"How come whenever I talk to you everything sounds so much better, Marie? I only wish we lived closer. The heirship is going to be tough enough, but it's going to be even harder for me without you around to talk to. I am going to miss you a lot.“ "Awww. Thanks Abby. Our friendship means a lot to me too. Come here and give me a hug."
"Best friends forever, Marie?“ "But of course. Gosh, you're making me all sappy. Which means I suppose now is as good a time as any to tell you the news. I was going to wait, but now...""What is it Marie?“ "Abby, I have decided to move back to Riverblossom Hills once I graduate. It just seems like the right place for me to be."
"Oh my gosh Marie! That is wonderful news and the best graduation gift ever. And here I thought that I would never see you again.“ "Now you don't really think I was going to let that happen, did you?“ "I suppose not."
"Good. Now you listen to me. I only have another semester to finish before I graduate. Until then I expect you to hold your head high and take charge of your life. Remember, it's no longer about the past, but about the future. Your future. Take it and make the most of it. And in the meantime, if you ever need anything I'm just a phone call away.“ "Oh thank you Marie. You have no idea how much this means to me.“ "Never mind. Now isn't there a party or two we should be attending? Let's go before all the juice is gone . You know how those frat boys can be."
By the time Abby and Marie joined the graduation festivities the party was already in full swing. With the juice kegs flowing freely and the music pumping loudly it was a party to remember. As Abby joined her fellow classmates in toilet papering Professor Schnell's car, she couldn't help it but smile to herself. For the first time in a long time the control was in her hands.
Back in Riverblossom Hills another young person was about to take the next step towards his future... "Well dad, I guess this is it.“ "I can't believe it's already time for you to leave us and head to university. Gosh. It seems like only yesterday that we were changing your diapers and teaching you how to walk and now my little man is all grown up. Are you sure you want to leave so soon? You could wait a little longer you know.“ "I know, but I really need to get out of town. You know, start a new chapter of my life and try to forget about things.“ "I know it's been tough for you since the disappearance of your cousin Brad, but life has a funny way of changing things around. You'll see."
"I am sure going to miss you.“ "I'm going to miss you guys too. I will call as soon as I get settled into my dorm room.“ "You better. I want to know that you got there safely.“ "Umm...dad... dad... hey dad. I've gotta go. My cab is here. You need to let go now.“ "I know son, I know."
It took some coaxing from Brodey before Vince finally released his grip on Jamie. By that time the cab driver had started honking repeatedly in an attempt to hurry its passenger. Quickly the family gathered outside to say their final goodbyes. "Ok son. 'Member everythang we taught y'ah. Have fun but don't forget t'ah b'eh responsible 'bout yer grades. An education is a terrible thang t'ah waste. We love y'ah!"
"Hey! Wait for me!“ Suddenly the front door swung wide open and the sound of hurried feet shuffled down the stairs. Before Jamie could leave there was one more goodbye that needed to be said.
"I can't believe you were going to just leave without saying goodbye!“ "Oh shoot! I'm sorry Brooke. I really didn't mean to forget about you. It's just that I have other things on my mind. Besides, I won't be away from you for long. Don't you only have a few more days before dad and papa are going to let you join me at university?"
"That's not the point. You could have at least come and told me you were leaving.“ "You're right Squirt, I'm sorry.“ "Hey, I told you to quit calling me that.“ "Like that's going to happen. I'm your older brother it's my job to annoy you.“ HONK, HONK "Look, I've gotta go but I'll see you soon, ok? Take care of dad and papa."
"I will. See you soon Jamie. Have fun and don't forget to reserve me a room. I don't want the old mismatched furniture.“ "Fine, fine. You're such a typical fortune sim, Brooke."
Down at the Riverblossom Hills Train Station, a very eager Tyson and a somewhat nervous Pamela were anxiously awaiting the arrival of Abby's train from Academie le Tour. The trip took approximately two full days, but Pamela was insistent that train travel was a much safer mode of transportation than flying.
"The train was supposed to be here by now. Do you think something has happened? Perhaps we should call the authorities to see if there has been any accidents reported."
"Don't be silly Pamela. We only showed up a few minutes ago and I'm sure that the station would make some kind of announcement if the train was running late. You just have to be patient.“ "That's easy for you to say. I'm just not very good at this kind of thing."
"Dad? Is that you?“ "Abby?“ "Yes, dad. Over here."
"See. I told you that there was nothing to worry about. Now come on. Let's go welcome our little girl home.“ "Um... why don't you go first. I'll just wait a minute."
"Hey sweetie. When did your train pull in? I thought we'd see it arrive.“ "You would have, but we were running early. I was just gathering some of my luggage together inside. I'm sorry to keep you waiting."
"Never mind my girl. Gosh, it's just so good to see you. I've missed you so much. Just look at you all grown up and a university graduate. I'm so proud.“ "Awww. Thanks dad. I've missed you a bunch too. I see you brought mom with you. How's she doing?“ "Not too bad. She has her good and bad days. Why don't you go over and say hi. She's been pretty nervous all morning about seeing you today."
"And remember to try and be nice. She's really trying to change.“ "Fine. For you dad I will try.“ "Hello Abby. How was your trip? Were the accommodations ok? Did you eat enough?"
"Yes, mom. Everything is fine.“ "Good. Now just look at you. I'm sure you have a hundred stories to tell about all the boys you met while at school. I can't wait to hear them all. In fact, I'm pretty sure there's gotta be someone special you want to tell me all about. We have so much to catch up on."
It was the words Abby had dreaded hearing and no more than five minutes into her return she was already forced to remember. How could her mom be so mean? How dare she assume that everybody had to be like her? "You know what mom, it's none of your business who I did and didn't meet! And for your information, no I don't have anyone special in my life! How's that for you? I guess I'm just not as cut out for the heirship as Brad would have been, am I? Well too bad! I'm all you have left, aren't I?"
"Wait! Abby! I didn't mean that at all. I was only just asking about...“ "Mom, I don't want to talk about this right now. I'm tired and I'm starting to get a headache. I'll meet you and dad in the car."
"Tyson. I don't know what I said. I was only trying to...“ "I know you were Pamela. I'm pretty sure Abby is just tired from the long train ride. I will talk to her once she's had the chance to eat and have a good night's rest.“ "But, did you hear what she said? Gosh, perhaps this isn't going to work after all. Maybe I really was a bad mother and she'll never forgive me."
"Nonsense. Like I said, I think she just needs some time to adjust. Remember, Abby hasn't seen us since Brad went missing. This must all be very emotional for her too.“ "I suppose.“ "Now come on. Let's go home."
It was a quiet ride home from the train station. When the car finally pulled up to the legacy house Abby unloaded her bags without saying a word and headed out to the yard to let off steam. Why had her mom been so quick to judge her? How was this heirship going to work if they couldn't even get along? And why, oh why did Brad have to leave her this responsibility? It was all starting to become too much.
"I see it didn't take you long to find the gift your mom bought for you. She knew you would like it.“ "Mom picked this out? Really? Hmmm. I'm surprised she even knew that I liked soccer.“ "Well there's a lot about your mom that might surprise you. Now how about letting your old man take a turn."
"Sure. A little one on one might be fun. Just don't say I didn't warn you when you lose.“ "You think I'm going to lose, do y'ah? We'll I think it's time to put all that trash talk to the test.“ "You got it!"
"Don't break your hip old man!“ "Hey! I'm not that old. Ready?“ "Dad! You're not suppose to let me know when you're about to kick the ball.“ "Just making sure you're awake is all."
Moments later the ball came zipping towards the left side of the net. Unfortunately for Tyson it wasn't much of a challenge for Abby who had taken on many of this type of shot before.
"Argh! I thought for sure you'd miss that one. It used to be my signature move.“ "Dad. I love you and all but I'm not so sure soccer is still your game. It's ok though. I kind of like being better at something than you. It makes me feel all grown up.“ "Well it makes me feel old. I used to be so much more agile. In fact, I think this old guy already needs a break. Come over to the bench Abby. You and I need to catch up."
"So what's up dad. I kind of feel like you're about to hand out one of those father/daughter talks. I hate to tell you this, but I already know about... you know... woohoo.“ "Gosh Abby. That's not what I had in mind. Really, whatever you do in the privacy of your own room is between you and whomever you are doing it with. I don't need to know about it.“ Thank goodness. This was not a topic Abby had wanted to get into with her father. If he knew what had happened. She shuddered to think about what he would say.
"Actually Abby, I wanted to talk to you about your mother.“ "Oh please dad, not again. It's obvious that we don't understand each other. I can only imagine how much worse it's going to be once you leave. Seriously dad. Can't I continue the legacy over at your house."
"Well actually Abby that's what I wanted to talk to you about.“ "Really? You mean it's possible! I figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask, but I never...“ "Whoa! Hold on. Before you get all excited, no body is going anywhere. Especially you. As the next heir you know it's your responsibility to stay here.“ "But, I don't want to stay with mom. I want to stay with you."
"Geez Abby. Quit being so childish. First of all it would be nice if you could let me finish telling you what I have to say and second... I am tired of you putting down you mom all the time. She's really a wonderful woman and I think that if you gave her half a chance you would find that the both of you could be great friends.“ "Sorrrrrrry. Since when did you become mom's biggest fan. I thought you hated each other.“ "Actually Abby, that's what I have been trying to tell you. I have asked you mom to marry me again and she has said yes."
"You can't be serious! Since when did this happen? When I left here you two couldn't barely stand to be in the same room as one another and now your ready to get married again? I don't understand."
"Look Abby. I don't expect you to understand, but I do expect you to be supportive. It took your mom and I a long time to realize that the person we loved most in this world was each other. Unfortunately, there was a lot of hurt that had to occur before that happened. With that being said, I have moved back into the legacy house and your mother and I are scheduled to be married tomorrow. I do hope that I can count on you to be there."
"Gosh dad. I don't know what to say. This is all very... out of the blue. Are you sure this is what you want? I mean... mom?“ "Yes Abby. I am sure that what I want is your mom. And of course to be here with you. I hope you're ok with that.“ "Of course I'm ok with that. In fact, I'm thrilled."
"Me too honey. I just hope that someday you will have the opportunity to feel the same kind of love. There's really nothing quite like being in love. It's the most amazing feeling ever.“ Hearing her father's words caused tears to well up in Abby's eyes. Love. It wasn't something she had ever felt before and truth be told it was something she didn't think she ever would. How could she after what had happened? Love meant she had to trust someone enough to let them touch her. The very thought of this sent a chill up her spine. Before tears had a chance to start rolling down her cheeks, Abby jumped from the bench and started towards the house. However, Tyson wasn't far behind. Grabbing her by the arm he quickly pulled her into an embrace.
"Oh gosh honey. Are you ok? Was it something I said? Is there something you want to talk about.“ Shaking her head no, Abby covered her face and began to sob. She didn't know how long the both of them stood there, him holding her and she crying, but by the end she felt both exhausted and relieved. The day had been a long one and what she needed more than anything else was some sleep.
The next morning the Simpleton family rose bright and early, dressed in their best formal wear, and made their way down to the local church. Both Pamela and Tyson were insistent that their second wedding ceremony be kept as simple and low key as possible. Therefore the only invitees were Abby, who was asked to stand up for her father, and Brodey who would be on hand to represent Pamela. Once everyone was seated the ceremony began.
"You ready to do this again Pamela?“ "Are you kidding me? There is no place I would rather be at this moment. Let's make it official, shall we?“ "You bet."
"Pamela Simpleton. From the first day I met you I knew that you weren't no ordinary girl. Where ever you went, there was always this unexplainable spark that seemed to follow. It is this energy that first led me to fall in love with you. While that was many years ago, the love I felt for you then is just as strong today and has never changed. There has never been another woman who made me cry, smile and love like you have. In front of these witnesses, I promise to take care of you now and for the rest of our lives."
"Tyson Simpleton. You are the most significant and important person in my life. There has never been another man that made me love as passionately as you have. When your arms are around me there is no other place I would rather be. When you tell me you love me, there are no other words I want to hear. When we spend time together, there is no other person I would rather be with. Tyson Simpleton, I love you now and forever. While the path that led us here hasn't been smooth, it has only made me realize how much I don't want to live without you."
Following the vows, both Pamela and Tyson Simpleton sealed their newly formed marriage with a kiss.
"So do you think we can make it work this time around, Tyson?“ "You don't really have a choice.“ "Really?“ "Really. I hate to break it to you, but this time it's forever.“ "Thank goodness for that."
The day following her parents wedding, Abby woke up early with a whole new outlook on life. If her parents could be happy after everything that had happened to them throughout their lives, then she could be too. While there was only so much she was willing to do to get her love life on track, there was another goal she could begin working towards.
"I suppose now is as good a day to make my dreams happen."
After taking a long shower, Abby carefully picked out an outfit to wear...
...brushed her teeth and made sure her hair was done just right. If anything she knew that it was important to make a good first impression.
After a quick breakfast, Abby made her way out of the house and began the short walk towards her 9:00 a.m. appointment. She planned to arrive about ten minutes early, as she was sure extra points would be given for promptness.
"Good morning Holly. How are you this fine day?“ "My goodness Mr. Bateman, aren't you in a good mood today. Anything special?“ "Well, you could say that. Why don't you read out my morning appointments for me Holly."
"Well, let's see. I know you have a meeting with Avery Stephenson at 10:00 this morning, but what's this? It seems someone has added a 9:00 with a Miss. Abby Simpleton. That wouldn't be 'the' legacy Abby Simpleton, would it?"
"I always knew you were a smart girl Holly. Of course, it's 'the' Abby Simpleton, heiress to the legacy family. It just so happens that Miss. Simpleton recently graduated from the journalism program at Academie Le Tour and she is looking for work.“ "And let me guess, you want to give her a job out of the goodness of your heart.“ "Something like that. Anyways, she should be here any minute. Please bring her right in. I would hate to keep our future co-host waiting."
Moments later, a very confident Abby Simpleton made her way up to the front doors of the enormous television studio. Somehow the building seemed so much larger in real life than it did on tv. The reality of the situation suddenly caught up with her.
It's ok. Just take a big deep breath. You know you are perfect for the job. You have a great education and you know Riverblossom Hills better than most. He’s going to love you. Just stay calm. Nervously, Abby hit the buzzer on the front door and waited.
"Hello there. You must be Abby Simpleton. My name is Holly and I am Mr. Bateman's executive assistant. He has been expecting you, please come in."
As Abby followed Holly though the front foyer and towards the office section of the building she couldn't help but feel intimidated. The art work that hung for the walls was impeccable and even the wood floors shone. "Right this way Miss Simpleton."
"Mr. Bateman. Abby Simpleton is here to see you.“ "Why of course. Thank you Holly."
"Hello there Abby. It's such a pleasure to meet you. I have heard a great deal about your family. You all seem to have quite a reputation here in Riverblossom Hills.“ "Erm... really? I didn't know.“ "Now, now. There's no need to be modest. Come. Have a seat we have a lot to talk about."
"I must say that I was quite surprised to get a phone call from you yesterday, Abby, regarding a job here at the station. Lucky for you, it just so happens that we have been searching for a new co-host and you are exactly the type of candidate we have been waiting for. I am assuming that you are prepared to take on that kind of role. We could have you start… say next Monday.“ "Are you offering me the job Mr. Bateman?“ "Why wouldn't I? You seem like a good person and I like to think I have pretty good instincts about this kind of thing, so what do you say? Can you start next week?"
"I... I suppose. But, I'm kind of confused.“ "Confused? I think I made my position quite clear.“ "No, no, of course you did. It's not that. It's just that I kind of thought that you would want to ask me some questions and check over my demo tape and references before making any kind of decision about whether to hire me. Your quick proposal was just a little unexpected is all."
"Miss. Simpleton when there is something that I want, or in this case, like, I don't hesitate. Who knows who might come and steal it away from me. Isn't that right Holly?"
"This is very true Mr. Bateman. Your confidence is one of your greatest qualities, sir."
"See what I mean. I hired Holly while she was working as a barista at a coffee bar and it has turned out to be the best decision I ever made. You see Miss. Simpleton, I am a man who knows what he wants and the moment I met you I could tell that you would be a perfect fit for "Talking Hills". I do hope you'll accept my job offer."
"Well when you put it that way, how could I say no. Yes, Mr. Bateman. I would be happy to accept you job offer.“ "Wonderful. I know you are going to love it here. Now come. You must take the grand tour. There is so much to show you."
As Abby followed Mr. Bateman around out of the room she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. Wow! I don't believe it! I am going to be a television co-host! Just wait dad hears about this.
No sooner had Abby and Mr. Bateman left the room, a very irritable Avery entered. He was still in a bad mood following his ‘unwilling’ date from the night before and he had a monster of a hangover. What could have been so darn important that William had insisted that he be here so early. --------------- Avery is the final heir from Meg’s (megmeg) The Stephenson Apocalypse challenge.
"Good morning Avery. Mr. Bateman is currently with another appointment, but he shouldn't be too much longer. He has asked that you take a seat in the foyer to wait for him."
"The foyer? What's wrong with waiting here? Since when does the star of the show have to sit in the foyer?“ "Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I'm only passing on what I was told. Now please, Mr. Stephenson, go have a seat in the foyer. He really shouldn't be that much longer."
"And finally, here is the studio Abby. It's where all the magic happens. Over there is where you will be sitting. Do you have any questions?“ "Um, not at the moment. I'm pretty sure I’ll have some once I start though."
"That's not a problem. I'm sure your co-host will be more than happy to assist you in any way he can. And would you look at this. Here he is right now. Avery, I want you to meet Abby Simpleton, your new co-host. She will be starting with us next week.“ “ You’re Abby Simpleton? It's nice to finally put a face to a name. So you're coming to work here, are you? Welcome, I guess.“ Abby blushed slightly as Avery spoke. She had always thought of him as an attractive man whenever she saw him on the television, but surprisingly he was even better looking in person. "Thank you. I am looking forward to it."
"Well, I hate to cut this meeting short, Abby, but Avery and I have some important stuff to talk about. You know, before the show tonight. But remember, if you need anything just call. I'm sure Holly will be able to take care of anything you need.“ "That sounds wonderful, Mr. Bateman and thanks again. I am really looking forward to working with all of you. Nice to meet you Avery."
“ I can’t believe I am going to be the new co-host of “Talking Hills”. This is better than I could have ever imagined.” Eager to share her good news, Abby hurried home to track down her father.
"So you went and got me a new co-host without even consulting me did you? Thanks a lot Bateman. Seriously, I don't know why I put up with your crap some days. Speaking of which, what do you want. I had a pretty rotten evening last night and the last thing I feel like doing is talking shop."
"Oh Avery. You have so much to learn. Don't you get it. This new co-host of yours is our ticket to the big time.“ "I don't follow.“ "Fine. I suppose I will just have to just spell it out for you. Legacy heiress, equals lots of family baggage, family baggage equals big drama, big drama equals huge ratings, and huge ratings, my friend, equals more money and a ticket out of Riverblossom."
“ Interesting, but somehow I think that you have a role for me in this grand plan of yours.“ "Oh how you know me, Avery. You, my womanizer, are responsible for digging up everything you possibly can on Abby Simpleton. I want to find out everything that makes her tick. Learn her dreams, discover her fears, meet the family, learn everything.“ While Avery did love women, digging up dirt wasn’t really his thing. However, he was intrigued by the good looking red head that he had met only minutes earlier.
“ Alright, I get it. You want me to woo her. But what if she doesn’t talk? Not all of the women I date talk , you know.” "Avery, Avery. Really, sometimes you really do make me laugh. There’s not very many women who say no to you. Thankfully you have been blessed with charm and good looks. I expect you aren’t going to have too much trouble getting our dear Abby to talk. Take her out, buy her dinner. Make her trust you.“ “ Is that supposed to be a challenge?” “ Maybe.”
“ When you put it that way. Success, fame and a hot little redhead on the side sounds like fun to me. I suppose that I accept your challenge. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t much to learn about Abby. She seems like one of those sweet type of girls.“ “ Well, I guess we’ll just have to see about that, won’t we.“ -------------------- This is where I shall leave you, but I'm not done quite yet. Keep clicking -------->
Having narrowly escaped the explosion, Brad, Leilani, Diego, Aloha are now living on another remote island not far from Izaro. The foursome managed to escape Izaro Island moments before the explosion on an old raft that had been used by the tribe for fishing in shallow waters. The waves from the explosion pushed the raft far out to sea and days later the crew shipwrecked here. Believable? I hope so :)
Anyways, soon after arriving on the island, Brad and Leilani decided to get married. The ceremony was held outside their new hut island home which Brad and Diego built using only the elements of nature. ---------------- Actually, the home was built especially for Brad and Leilani by Lea (tlhs0). It is very functional and has a great island feel. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
After saying their 'I Do's' the couple was very eager to get started on a family. However, not everything always goes as planned.
I say this because one night while Brad was outside tending to the garden, a bolt of lightening came down and struck him dead. Was it Jumbok getting back at him for removing the tribe from his grasp? No one knows. ------------------- I didn't plan this at all and was freaking out when it happened. Also, you will notice from here forward that Leilani got a makeover. I must say that she is much more beautiful than I first thought. It's amazing what the right hair can do for a sim.
Thankfully Leilani was ready to face the Grim Reaper and fight for her love's life. Touched by her devotion to Brad, Grimmy made an exception and allowed Brad a second chance at life. Thank goodness!
Which of course made everyone happy. "What? What happened? Why am I in my underwear?"
Especially Leilani who soon found herself giving birth to their first child and the first member of generation four. Woot!!!!!
I would like to introduce you all to Dahlia Simpleton. Look, she has Brad's eyes! Warning: Much cuteness is about to follow ----------------->
Squee! I told you! Isn't Dahlia just the cutest thing you ever did see. Let's just say I was very pleasantly surprised.
For those of you who are wondering, Dahlia's is a Scorpio who is clean, playful, outgoing, and mean (8/8/9/7/1). As you can see, Leilani is a great mom and constantly dotes her daughter. While she isn't pregnant right now, there will most likely be another child in their future as she is already rolling up wants to have another baby. Yay family sims! ------------------------ Anyways, that's all I've got for now. I will do my best to try and include some extra bonus pictures of Brad and his family from time to time to keep you all in the loop of what's happening. Otherwise, it's back to the legacy family next chapter. Y'all come back now y'ah hear!

Th'a Simple Life - Chapter 18

  • 1.
  • 7. "Um Alex... could you please sit down.
  • 11. "So is it all settled then?“ "I think so.“ "Good. Can I kiss the bride now?“ "Absolutely!"
  • 12. "Sniff... isn't that sweet? I just love a good wedding. It's all so very romantic.“ "I prefer the term Shrewtastic, but romance is good too. Hey, Lorin, do you think these shoes go with this dress?“ ------------------ In the front: Lorin (lorinsv60) writes Romancing the Apocalypse.
  • 13. Aside from the usual simself antics you come to expect at a wedding, everyone had a great time. That is except for one person who left the party early.
  • 19. "What I am saying is that I want you to be my wife again, Pamela. I want to be the husband I should have been all those years ago. I love you and have always loved you. I can only hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive me for the mistakes I have made and take me back.“ "But what about..."
  • 20. "There are no 'buts' Pamela. I say this to you with my entire heart. This is not because your parents said we should, or because it will make things easier. I am asking you to be my wife because I believe in us. I feel us in my heart. There is no other person in this world that I want to have by my side. We belong together."
  • 21. "Oh Tyson! It's my old ring! But, I had pawned it off. How did you ever...“ "I have connections, my dear. So does that mean you'll say yes, or do I have to try and balance on this old hip a little longer?"
  • 22. "Oh, I'm sorry Tyson. YES! Of course yes! I would be honored to be your wife once again. And this time, no more secrets. I promise.“ "Good, because I don't know if this heart could take losing you again."
  • 23. "I love you Tyson Simpleton.“ "I love you too Pamela Simpleton. What do you say we go inside and celebrate, the right way."
  • 25. "Shouldn't you be out having fun somewhere, instead of sitting in the garden by yourself. This is a big day for you Abby. Go have some fun. You deserve it.“ "Maybe later."
  • 26. "Well, I hate to tell you this, but graduation only comes once in a lifetime. Therefore, later really isn't an option. Come on Abby, what's wrong? You rarely turn down a good party."
  • 29. "But how do I do that? How do I forget about what he did to me? How do I get to the point that I won't tremble every time a man reaches out to touch my hand? How do I look in the mirror every morning and not see the scars he left behind? How do I do all these things? How?"
  • 30. "Unfortunately Abby I don't have any of those answers for you. What I do know is that you have been chosen to lead your family. You come from a very special family that has a legacy to carry on. I would hate to think that you would let Professor Schnell stop that legacy from continuing."
  • 34. "Oh my gosh Marie! That is wonderful news and the best graduation gift ever. And here I thought that I would never see you again.“ "Now you don't really think I was going to let that happen, did you?“ "I suppose not."
  • 40. "Hey! Wait for me!“ Suddenly the front door swung wide open and the sound of hurried feet shuffled down the stairs. Before Jamie could leave there was one more goodbye that needed to be said.
  • 43. "I will. See you soon Jamie. Have fun and don't forget to reserve me a room. I don't want the old mismatched furniture.“ "Fine, fine. You're such a typical fortune sim, Brooke."
  • 45. "The train was supposed to be here by now. Do you think something has happened? Perhaps we should call the authorities to see if there has been any accidents reported."
  • 46. "Don't be silly Pamela. We only showed up a few minutes ago and I'm sure that the station would make some kind of announcement if the train was running late. You just have to be patient.“ "That's easy for you to say. I'm just not very good at this kind of thing."
  • 47. "Dad? Is that you?“ "Abby?“ "Yes, dad. Over here."
  • 48. "See. I told you that there was nothing to worry about. Now come on. Let's go welcome our little girl home.“ "Um... why don't you go first. I'll just wait a minute."
  • 49. "Hey sweetie. When did your train pull in? I thought we'd see it arrive.“ "You would have, but we were running early. I was just gathering some of my luggage together inside. I'm sorry to keep you waiting."
  • 51. "And remember to try and be nice. She's really trying to change.“ "Fine. For you dad I will try.“ "Hello Abby. How was your trip? Were the accommodations ok? Did you eat enough?"
  • 52. "Yes, mom. Everything is fine.“ "Good. Now just look at you. I'm sure you have a hundred stories to tell about all the boys you met while at school. I can't wait to hear them all. In fact, I'm pretty sure there's gotta be someone special you want to tell me all about. We have so much to catch up on."
  • 54. "Wait! Abby! I didn't mean that at all. I was only just asking about...“ "Mom, I don't want to talk about this right now. I'm tired and I'm starting to get a headache. I'll meet you and dad in the car."
  • 56. "Nonsense. Like I said, I think she just needs some time to adjust. Remember, Abby hasn't seen us since Brad went missing. This must all be very emotional for her too.“ "I suppose.“ "Now come on. Let's go home."
  • 59. "Sure. A little one on one might be fun. Just don't say I didn't warn you when you lose.“ "You think I'm going to lose, do y'ah? We'll I think it's time to put all that trash talk to the test.“ "You got it!"
  • 60. "Don't break your hip old man!“ "Hey! I'm not that old. Ready?“ "Dad! You're not suppose to let me know when you're about to kick the ball.“ "Just making sure you're awake is all."
  • 61. Moments later the ball came zipping towards the left side of the net. Unfortunately for Tyson it wasn't much of a challenge for Abby who had taken on many of this type of shot before.
  • 64. "Actually Abby, I wanted to talk to you about your mother.“ "Oh please dad, not again. It's obvious that we don't understand each other. I can only imagine how much worse it's going to be once you leave. Seriously dad. Can't I continue the legacy over at your house."
  • 67. "You can't be serious! Since when did this happen? When I left here you two couldn't barely stand to be in the same room as one another and now your ready to get married again? I don't understand."
  • 73. "You ready to do this again Pamela?“ "Are you kidding me? There is no place I would rather be at this moment. Let's make it official, shall we?“ "You bet."
  • 76. Following the vows, both Pamela and Tyson Simpleton sealed their newly formed marriage with a kiss.
  • 77. "So do you think we can make it work this time around, Tyson?“ "You don't really have a choice.“ "Really?“ "Really. I hate to break it to you, but this time it's forever.“ "Thank goodness for that."
  • 78. The day following her parents wedding, Abby woke up early with a whole new outlook on life. If her parents could be happy after everything that had happened to them throughout their lives, then she could be too. While there was only so much she was willing to do to get her love life on track, there was another goal she could begin working towards.
  • 79. "I suppose now is as good a day to make my dreams happen."
  • 80. After taking a long shower, Abby carefully picked out an outfit to wear...
  • 81. ...brushed her teeth and made sure her hair was done just right. If anything she knew that it was important to make a good first impression.
  • 82. After a quick breakfast, Abby made her way out of the house and began the short walk towards her 9:00 a.m. appointment. She planned to arrive about ten minutes early, as she was sure extra points would be given for promptness.
  • 83. "Good morning Holly. How are you this fine day?“ "My goodness Mr. Bateman, aren't you in a good mood today. Anything special?“ "Well, you could say that. Why don't you read out my morning appointments for me Holly."
  • 84. "Well, let's see. I know you have a meeting with Avery Stephenson at 10:00 this morning, but what's this? It seems someone has added a 9:00 with a Miss. Abby Simpleton. That wouldn't be 'the' legacy Abby Simpleton, would it?"
  • 86. Moments later, a very confident Abby Simpleton made her way up to the front doors of the enormous television studio. Somehow the building seemed so much larger in real life than it did on tv. The reality of the situation suddenly caught up with her.
  • 87. It's ok. Just take a big deep breath. You know you are perfect for the job. You have a great education and you know Riverblossom Hills better than most. He’s going to love you. Just stay calm. Nervously, Abby hit the buzzer on the front door and waited.
  • 88. "Hello there. You must be Abby Simpleton. My name is Holly and I am Mr. Bateman's executive assistant. He has been expecting you, please come in."
  • 89. As Abby followed Holly though the front foyer and towards the office section of the building she couldn't help but feel intimidated. The art work that hung for the walls was impeccable and even the wood floors shone. "Right this way Miss Simpleton."
  • 90. "Mr. Bateman. Abby Simpleton is here to see you.“ "Why of course. Thank you Holly."
  • 94. "Miss. Simpleton when there is something that I want, or in this case, like, I don't hesitate. Who knows who might come and steal it away from me. Isn't that right Holly?"
  • 95. "This is very true Mr. Bateman. Your confidence is one of your greatest qualities, sir."
  • 97. "Well when you put it that way, how could I say no. Yes, Mr. Bateman. I would be happy to accept you job offer.“ "Wonderful. I know you are going to love it here. Now come. You must take the grand tour. There is so much to show you."
  • 98. As Abby followed Mr. Bateman around out of the room she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. Wow! I don't believe it! I am going to be a television co-host! Just wait dad hears about this.
  • 100. "Good morning Avery. Mr. Bateman is currently with another appointment, but he shouldn't be too much longer. He has asked that you take a seat in the foyer to wait for him."
  • 101. "The foyer? What's wrong with waiting here? Since when does the star of the show have to sit in the foyer?“ "Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I'm only passing on what I was told. Now please, Mr. Stephenson, go have a seat in the foyer. He really shouldn't be that much longer."
  • 102. "And finally, here is the studio Abby. It's where all the magic happens. Over there is where you will be sitting. Do you have any questions?“ "Um, not at the moment. I'm pretty sure I’ll have some once I start though."
  • 105. “ I can’t believe I am going to be the new co-host of “Talking Hills”. This is better than I could have ever imagined.” Eager to share her good news, Abby hurried home to track down her father.
  • 106. "So you went and got me a new co-host without even consulting me did you? Thanks a lot Bateman. Seriously, I don't know why I put up with your crap some days. Speaking of which, what do you want. I had a pretty rotten evening last night and the last thing I feel like doing is talking shop."
  • 110. • 111.
  • 113. After saying their 'I Do's' the couple was very eager to get started on a family. However, not everything always goes as planned.
  • 115. Thankfully Leilani was ready to face the Grim Reaper and fight for her love's life. Touched by her devotion to Brad, Grimmy made an exception and allowed Brad a second chance at life. Thank goodness!
  • 116. Which of course made everyone happy. "What? What happened? Why am I in my underwear?"
  • 117. Especially Leilani who soon found herself giving birth to their first child and the first member of generation four. Woot!!!!!
  • 118. I would like to introduce you all to Dahlia Simpleton. Look, she has Brad's eyes! Warning: Much cuteness is about to follow ----------------->
  • 119. Squee! I told you! Isn't Dahlia just the cutest thing you ever did see. Let's just say I was very pleasantly surprised.
